Timelord War Naming Conventions

Constructive feedback and criticism is welcome as always.

The formal conflict names/terms, "War in Heaven" and "Time War/Great Time War" both exist inuniverse, while both are used for conflicts involving Timelords there seems to be a vague distinction between the two as they are not used interchangeably, (the Yssgaroth conflict is the First War in Heaven while The Order of the Black Sun conflict is the First Great Time War).

The, "Time War/Great Time War" name/term is easier enough to define. Time Wars: The several temporal conflicts the Timelords have been involved in since The Order of the Black Sun conflict which are all one sided curbstomps not conflicts between equals. Great Time Wars: The temporal conflicts the Timelords have been involved in against an equal or near equal temporal power.

This being the case it's possible that inuniverse, "The Second War in Heaven" and, "The Last Great Time War" are referred to as the Second and Third Great Time Wars respectively by the Timelords and other time aware cultures? In NuWho the Timelords and other time awares seem to more often refer to, "The Last Great Time War" as, "The Time War" much in the same way we do with .W.W.2.. Maybe the, "Last" part was by The War Doctor? (He did staser, "No more" into a wall for whatever reason). If nothing else the use of the name/term, "The Second Great Time War" would help canonwelding efforts going forward.

The, "War in Heaven" name/term is unfortunately more difficult to define. Wars in Heaven: Two specific conventional, (the Yssgaroth war) and temporal, (the enemy war) conflicts the Timelords are involved in.

The difficulty arises from the fact that according to .T.B.o.t.W. the name/term is primariyl used by non and borderline time awar species who may not be consciously aware of the conflict let alone understand it so it's applied to both types of conflict thus rasing questions why others aren't included, (eg: The Black Sun Time War, the Rachnoss War, and the Dalek Time War).

Timelords: The Eternal War, The First Great Time War, The Second Great Time War, and The Third & Last Great Time War.

Lesser species: The First War in Heaven, The Black Sun War, The Second War in Heaven, The Third War in Heaven/The Dalek Time War.

Eugene's robe is real and it is mine.

You'll forgive me for not wearing it off-shoulder right at the mo, since Tumblr has a problem with tiddies and all.

Construction details under the cut

Now if you read my tags on the previous post, you'll know that it was my intention to make this robe out of some silk that had been languishing in my fabric storage, small problem though

Not all of it is black

(Left two are raw silk, different weights, right's a haboti silk scarf)

Now that's an easy enough fix

I did have to do about three passes to get them to match though, as black is a notoriously hard colour to dye

Next one must make a mock-up out of an inferior material, this here is poplin.

Now if you were just making this costume-quality, this material would be fine, slap on a collar, hem and overlock this guy and he'll do great, I'm just extra.

You'll also note the piecing on the shoulders here, that is because i did not have enough silk to cut it all in one piece

That picture to the right is how much in total was left as offcuts from all the silk used.

Does also mean it's not floor length, but on the plus side it's my preferred length anyway

Anyways then it was just a matter of sewing the whole thing together (no pics, soz) most of it is machine sewn (silk thread) with top stitched flat felled seams, that includes the split in the back where it essentially runs from a flat felled seam to a hem by just pressing outwards and tucking under.

The entire collar was whipped stitched down on the inside within the seam allowance to avoid any top stitching lines on the outside or nasty flappy bits on the inside. (And because haboti LOVES to warp, which was not entirely circumvented with this method)

The arms eye seams were also hand finished with an invisible felling whip stitch, and the sleeve bottoms hemmed with a sort of invisible pad stitch.

The several days worth of hand stitching just listed is why this took me a while.

And so i chose a good-enough scarf for a shash-yeah jk i made the sash from scratch out of yet more Haboti silk and dyed it.

I don't think it's quite dark enough so I may dye it again later.

If you want a approx amount of fabric that's in this piece, the robe is a bit over 4 meters of silk Total?

And the sash is about 3mx70cm on top of that.

Now I'm gonna go luxuriate in this robe I stole from our fictional son, happy S3 E2 of Midnight Alley y'all!

"Mother" and Plans

As always constructive feedback is welcomed.

In, "Toy Story" Lolita exposits that she is enacting the plan of her and the Ship's, "Mother", (ie: The Matrix of Galifrey 1) however from at least a canon welding perspective, (which increasingly seems to be the .F.P. franchise's direction of travel) this is complete bunk as the only minds in the Matrix were the Rassilon led Matrix Lords that reside in the Amplified Panatropic Computation Net and witht heir enhanced mental powers controls the .C.I.A. which we know had plans of their own. If Lolita was enacting a plan from the Matrix it would be Rassilon's.

What we know 1.Rassilon's Plan There seems to be two: a.Preserving the Timelords, (and maybe everyone else on Gallifrey) by converting them into conceptual beings, (memetic mass) via the forced paradox state used by Grandfather Paradox to, "retire" from history, (taught to the .C.I.A. by one of the Godfather Luietenants) loosing their biodata connections to Gallifrey. This was attempted twice: Before .S.W.I.H.: Gallifrey 1, (later 8's) .C.I.A.'s elite cadre become the Celestis once the conflict became undeniable as precauion borne out of fear. "After", (for lack of a better term) the .L.G.T.W./.T.W.i.H. Rassilon and the High Council plans to do so, (describing it as, "ascension", "becoming creatures of conciousness alone") in order to survive The Ultimate Sanction, (creating a paradox so severe it's spatial temporal ruptures would tear the Time Vortex apart).

Notes The similarities between the two examples coupled with the fact that the Matrix Lords controlled the .C.I.A. suggests that this was a long thoughout plan rather then being a last moment spur of desperation with the Celestis may have been a proof of concept, (the Matrix Lords may have quietly pushed for the Mememovore plan as a means of clean up). Seems to have had a patriotic motivation/intention from the outset on Rassilon's part unlike regeneration, (the virus not the Timeless Child). The Celestis and the Investigators have the same relationship as betwen the Matrix Lords and .C.I.A.. Interestingly both Rassilon and Davros both resort to plans that destroy all of reality.

b.Charging the Chancellory Guard with a list of four Timelords with some unknown connection to the Four Eternals to be eliminated after an unknown evebt or action, (presumeably post .S.W.i.H./.T.S.G.T.W.) that he feared for unknown reasons beyond the vague idea it was something to do with his fear of the Timelord's fallibility and knowing, "who the real enemy is".

Notes Possibly a backup plan that would enable Rassilon to create and rule the Elemental/Spire Empire out of ego and or to secure it's resources to save one of the Gallifrey cloneworlds.

2.Lolita's plan To insitute heself as, "a new kind of history" by replacing or becoming rulers at historical keypoints with avatars of herself to both gather power, (eg: Gaining Yssgaroth biodata by using Project Caldera to reaching the edge Spiral Yssgaroth containment shell at the Earth's Core) and manipulate the other War powers, (eg: Distibuting recruitment propaganda, "The Thousand and Second Night"). After she had grown sufficiently powerful she would arrive on Gallifrey and become the War Queen by consuming The War King and using the House Tracolix bred Ninth Wave as her personal army on Gallifrey to secure her position and crush any dissent, ("The Homeworld doesn't suspect a thing, and it never will, until it is too late").

Notes "A new kind of history", is one of the descriptions of the enemy, (though it's origin is unknown) which suggests she was trying to match it and so become the enemy in much the same way that the City of the Saved citizens are Homo Imago but only in a technical sense rather then actual. The, "key points" of history she has no problem or issue interfering or changing seem to be different NuWho's, "fixed points". The fact she specifically chooses so called keypoints that give her an excuse to replace rulers instead of the multitude of other more significant ones in which she wouldn't inducates her own ego and superiority complex was a large part of her thinking. Her whole personality, (snobbish, egotistical, and opportunistic) lends credence to the idea that the whole, "Mother's Plan" routine, (if not the whole thing) is a delusional self justifiction for her selfish power scheming. The Tardis's only reaction to the, "Mother" talk is that, "We still don't know how much of what Mother told us is true" which could easily apply to the Matrix Lords. The plan seems to have originated after she gained humanoid form via the Type 101 project. The purpose behind her attack and consumption the Eleven Day Empire isn't clear given the Faction's peripherial nature in the conflict. Maybe it was to help gain support and or to secure a City of the Saved type power supply indpendent from the Eye(s) of Harmony.

Overall Notes Neither plan appears to overlap or compliment the other in anyway. Lolita shows neither the regard for the Timelords or veneration for Rassilon she would be expected to if she was his agent. Rassilon/The Matrix Lords never referenced or directly made use of Lolita as an asset and they have no reason to keep it secret.
