personally I just hc Louis as transfem sometimes bc of Jacob's gender vibes, but I get how the discussion pisses people off when it descends into "man actually woman because he read book about lady". Everyone do what you want, but remember that you're in public and do it thoughtfully.

and that's totally understandable! jacob's portrayal absolutely lends itself to that kind of reading, and people are welcome to interpret the character however they please, it'd just be cool if we weren't all constantly fighting about it 💀

i'm gonna say something controversial in that i don't think any of the characters are as fem as fandom makes them out to be

Yeah, 100% this. It's weird to me that some people seem to WANT one or both of them to be super femme or literally women, like are they upset that they love a show starring two cis male characters? Does that not feel cool or progressive enough or something? If it's someone wanting to imagine a character in a way that they personally identify with more, that's fine, I totally get that, and of course fic preferences can be whatever people want them to be, but one would hope they could separate their head canon from what the show actually is. Because it does feel weird to have a show primarily about two gay/bi men and then try to make one of them into a woman when, no, that's not what the show is telling us. And I've seen the weirdest "evidence" used for these theories. Like people treating Lestat saying "I am she, she is me" to mean he now uses female pronouns, or people treating Louis' mom thinking that his vampire nails are feminine to mean he IS feminine (they're vampire nails! Lestat and every other vampire has them! They're not signs of anyone's femininity, she just thinks he got a manicure!)

And I just saw someone say that Louis reading some books about women, like Madame Bovary, is a hint that he's feminine or a woman, so great, I'm glad that's the level that discourse is at lol. "If men like books about women, they're girls"

a lot of the characters in tvc do have somewhat complicated relationships with gender and that is played with in the show., particularly through loustat's parental roles within the family, but a lot of times the 'proof' of louis/lestat being canonically transfem is really just unhelpful gender essentialism

1.I have a fucked up hc of marius reacting to amadeos eyes with rage bcs he did not become a perfect blue eyed mirror image of him.......not the pupil he wanted of him....I am reminded every time that marius literally couldnt look at him after he was turned and the physical violence againt him increased...like he saw the devil in his eyes or smthing.....this is a bit messed up innit..

2. my hc for his eyes are icy blue with hints of orange, sort of like you can see a little bit of lestat's purple in louis' green

i just assume they'll be orange bc i think it'd be cool if the colour-changing orbs were an inherited trait but your version would also be neat and sadly very on brand for marius de perpetually disappointed in amadeo :/
