Villains In Love
37 posts
Age 35. I am an illustrator, writer, poet, bellydancer, Horror fanatic, Goth, occultist/spiritualist. In a RL loving relationship. This blog is mainly appreciating the fact that villains can love just as heroes can, since they have a deeper story. I have created such in my writing and art involving my self ship Captain Scarlett and Hook, for love is unconditional.

A maiden’s token, I see
I’ve seen this film 3 times already. Jfc. By far the most beautiful gutpunching emotionally mentally spiritually impactful film I’ve seen in years. I don’t have the words to describe how special it is to me. I’m just floored.
Having now read the script adds a whole new layer to the characters, what they’re thinking and feeling. iykyk.
Hopefully I’ll be able to get in a fourth or fifth viewing before my schedule gets crazy again..

Absolutely amazing make up design, although, it breaks my heart looking at orlok this way, bone and muscle exposed, malnourished. Poor thing needs to soak in a blood bath to rejuvenate himself as a renewal of the undead. As an empath I can feel his characters suffering. 😢☹️💜🦇

An excellency and well explained. 🦇 I had to share. We need to be heard not sexualized in today’s society.
For starters, I've mostly refrained from entering the discourse surrounding Nosferatu '24 and specifically Ellen Hutter and her character arc due to the discourse being pointless. But I'll just give my few cents and put a very important point here first before going any further:
This discourse shows that it's not just men who've tried to push this pointless discourse, though their reasoning tips over into downplaying, denying or outright attempting to invalidate the gothic romance and gothic horror elements of the film and story yet simultaneously and hypocritically reinforce stereotypes of objectifying, fetishizing and hypersexualizing goth women/femmes into their Big T***dy Goth GF sex doll fantasies to get off to. On the flipside, some women have contributed to the discourse, with their reasonings being fueled by not only completely missing or dismissing the clear goth, gothic romance and gothic horror elements of the film and story down to its original roots because its depiction of dark erotic desires, madness, sexuality and insanity and especially female sexuality, madness, insanity and erotic desire is all of a sudden "too uncomfortable", but also desperately wanting Ellen to be their next "#empowered girlboss" that caters to an admittedly now trite idea of a female gaze, ready for consumption to be put on a twitter post of a tiktok edit montage set to this week's top 40 billboard hit pop songs. Or, if she doesnt fit in that box or cater to that gaze and demographic, then this very same demographic of women will then reduce Ellen to being just some measly weak damsel victim to be pitied and perceived as someone who couldn't (or shouldn't) possibly want or have these dark twisted erotic desires on her own and then misproject false contexts of abuse-victim narratives onto her and her story and then strip Ellen of all her agency, autonomy and darkly angelic, gothic, twisted, messy, complicated and resplendent depth, nuance and complexity. All of which is further an indictment on this demographic of women hypocritically perpetuating the very same patronizingly and insultingly misogynistic, sexist, patriarchal and overly puritanical stigmatizing of female sexuality, eroticism and desire as men, along with exposing the fact that their idea of goth and gothic romance/horror is within the normie poser tourist's lens of a twitter brained, commodified, myopic, shallowly candy coated and shortsighted tiktokification of goth and goth subculture and gothic womanhood and femininity with just wanting the look, aesthetic and idea of goth and gothic romance/horror but then neglecting, dismissing, downplaying or outright attempting to erase the very roots of goth subculture, gothic stories and what it means to be goth. And whereas demographics of porn rotted normie men try to reduce Ellen Hutter and other goth women/femmes like her (both in movies/on TV and in real life) just to hypersexualized and objectified Big T***y Goth GFs, some demographics of twitter brained fake feminist women try to reduce Ellen and goth women/femmes like her to #Empowered Girlboss Goth Besties or just weak damsel victims to be pitied and patronized. And it is all so. Freaking. Annoying.
Goth, its subgenres in music, film and literature, gothic romance, gothic horror and Ellen Hutter, goth women/femmes like her both fictional and in real life, and the exploration of womanhood, femininity, female sexuality, eroticism, desire and all the nuances and complexities of these within the goth/gothic and gothic romance/horror context and subtext ultimately aren't meant to be comfortable or digestible for the normie gaze on either side of the fence. And just as it doesn't have to cater to the male gaze, it also doesn't have to cater to the female gaze either. Heck, everything in art doesn't have to be about or cater to either gaze--now this part is just me venting from the perspective of someone who was born intersex and who now in recent times finds the whole male gaze vs female gaze argument and the overall male gaze-female gaze dichotomy boring, hollow, empty, repetitive and trite and frankly alienating as such a dichotomy doesn't make any inclusive space for intersex folks such as myself. In fact, this fits perfectly with the fact that the very core of being goth is being an other. You're not meant to automatically fit in everywhere. And sure it's not always pretty or comfortable, but sometimes things that are the most beautiful are the things that can't be put in a box and are hardest to find, like a diamond in the rough. And goth subculture has a richer, deeper and more fascinatingly complex history and roots that shouldn't be watered down, commodified, hi jacked, appropriated and hyper commercialized by normies who are unwilling to grasp and understand what the culture is about and how its art embodies it.
Now after going 700,000 miles ahead of myself, I'll jump right into it. As someone who's identified as goth as far back as 2007 and still identifies as such, seeing many viewers of Nosferatu '24 who understand and respect Robert Eggers' vision for the film and the proper meaning, context and subtext of the story, especially as many of the viewers are also goths, defend not just the movie and story's pitch perfect revival of the gothic romance and gothic horror story genre to its true roots and core but also have the moment to shine and show what being goth and being in goth subculture is about is very...heartening and wholesome. Again, I've identified as goth as far back as 2007-2008, and I remember that what I've always been fascinated about with goth subculture was the ornate mystique and dark, mysterious and enigmatic element in its basis of finding beauty in what's considered dark, twisted, eerie, spooky, macabre, grotesque and unsettling as well as the emphasis on artistic creativity, individuality and intellectual and philosophical debates and discussions and then everything else with art, music, literature and fashion just further enhanced, accentuated and complimented and gave complimented embodiment of goth and goth subculture.
And seeing so many other folks who are goth and in goth subculture get a time to shine in defending and standing by the intellectual and artistic heart and core of goth subculture and what it means to be goth, and especially goth women/femmes, with the discussion of Nosferatu is very very heartening and wholesome, and it's also honestly very encouraging and makes me excited to explore more of goth and goth subculture and see how this community continues to grow and shine.
In conclusion, Nosferatu, Ellen Hutter, gothic stories, goth women and goth subculture and all its art forms, are not for normie tourists and posers or their commodification. And Ellen, goth women/femmes and our stories are not commodities for thirsty porn rotted normie fratdudes or shallow twitter brained normie girlbosses either. So don't try to treat or reduce it to such.
In fact, I'll just end this post with a tweet and quote from @ghoulhag, an actual goth who summed up how this film and story should be approached and analyzed and who should actually approach and analyze it:
"𝘐’𝘮 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘕𝘰𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘶 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘨𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘲𝘶𝘦, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦."

Drew these sentimental emotional scene a few years ago from my fanfic, where the captain gets vulnerable in front of captain Scarlett after he takes off his hook for the first time. As both are misunderstood villains, he gets more emotional once she embraces his scars.

A breathtaking storm piece done digitally, from my good friend Javy.

Well, yes... I haven't drawn you for a long time. But the main thing is that I drew it and that’s already good.
It has become much easier for me to draw on the computer thanks to a special tablet. It's easier to draw and it's easier to draw the necessary details. I don't know why I haven't used it before. Although I've had it for 2 years already.
Oh yeah, where did I disappear to? Maybe someone is interested, but who isn't? I'll tell you anyway. I wasn't in the mood to do anything. I just wanted to lie down and sleep. Maybe I'm going through a period like this. And this crap will pass. And I will start drawing actively again.
(thanks if you read this)

I have this masterpiece on my wall upon my bedroom/ quarters. I love her little scene that she came up for Scarlett it makes me chuckle because Hook loves doing these little silly things on purpose to see her expression/ reaction. (Feel free to repost)

For @captainscarlettdarkharbor
Captain Hook was exhausted from marking the path over the map. He drew the wrong mark on the map on purpose to see Scarlett’s cute serious face. He asked her for help, making a cup of coffee for her.
Scarlett: Wait, Honey, you drew the wrong line!
Hook: Oh really? (Eyes locked on her face)
Scarlett: Yes, this line has to go right here….(paused)
Hook: Carry on. Carry on, my love.
Scarlett: You did on purpose, didn’t you?
Hook: (chuckles) Works every time.

This is definitely very important for all ages in any fandom community including older folks like us. Self shipping is also an art of arts and writing in which you are personally creating something from yourself/ your soul. It’s a part of you, nothing to be ashamed of, it’s part of the arts.
Tumblr media
Self shipping is not a competition, and treating it like one can harm the very community it’s meant to support! There’s no prize for being “the most popular self-shipper” of a particular F/O, and turning it into a popularity contest goes against the heart of what self shipping is all about. For many, self shipping is a vital coping tool; for others, it’s a deeply personal relationship, or simply something they do for fun. No matter the reason, self shipping should be a space for joy, comfort, and connection—not comparison or competition. Making it competitive only creates unnecessary stress and can ruin the experience for others! Let’s please strive to support one another and keep this community a welcoming space for everyone. Please and thank you! 🙏

I had this really cute sentimental scene run through my head while eating two Turkish dates in the kitchen drawers.
Scarlett: “would ye like a date m’ love?” (Chewing on one while looking at her husband with a sly grin)
Hook: “oh ye want to go out somewhere to eat m’ dear?” (Smiling with a villainous yet goofy look upon his face)
Scarlett: (she snorts chuckling playfully) “no no no… haha yet perhaps tonight we can. Ney, I meant do ye want a Turkish date or a few dates with yer coffee? Silly.” (Handing him the small bag, as she grabbed his chin playfully shaking a bit with her other hand)
Hook: (He chuckled sheepishly, feeling a bit silly) “ohhh… Turkish dates haha, silly me. You know m’ dear, you never cease to make laugh. Ye got me on that one, word play. Ye cutie pie. (Biting into one before sipping his coffee)
