The Hollywood Reporter critics name “Napkins” directed by Ayo Edebiri as one of the 10 best TV episodes of 2024, while still making a dig about whatever The Bear is. When will they stop and just praise the series and leave it at that?

Grotesquerie is a great collage of great literature and existencial philosophy
The parallels between Grotesquerie and The metamorphosis are wild!
It’s soooo Kafkian at its very core, it fucking hurts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the greatest thing about its script is that it’s flexible enough to also accommodate multiple narrative styles such as a clearly Wellesian style, that’s also intervened by Lovecraft and of course, the Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde meta plot twist that makes it painfully predictable yet timeless #Classic
The soundtrack and cinematography were top tier too.
More please!

So I love Bob's Burgers and I love The Great North but I think one equally amazing show people don't remember that maybe was the start of these sort of shows is Home Movies. It's a great show, it's on max, kinda old it's from the 90s. And it was perfectly deadpan, way beyond its years. Poorly drawn and full of love. And our beloved Bob played the soccer coach McGuirk. And I've been rewatching Bob's Burgers and I always wondered if they'd do a reference or a cross over episode, an homage to one of his first shows. And BAM they diiiid!
Tumblr media
This isn't my picture, I was just googling the episode and it popped up! So other people have noticed it, but I wanted to spread it around in case people on here who love Bob's Burgers never knew about Home Movies!!! It's so goooooood! And I recommend watching it! Absolutely!
Annnnd you can also maybe see a free version of it if you check below. Just kidding! Haha ... Unless?
Btw you can also watch it for free here ;)

god….ok
now i can’t stop thinking about sydcarmy and bones x booth parallels but it’s just like???
i said these ships are two different people with a shared passion. at first you would say no bc while both syd and carm are chefs. booth is an FBI agent and bones is a forensic anthropologist. BUT their shared passion is crime solving/catching the bad guys etc.
Tumblr media
what i loved about bones and booth relationship is that booth really helped bones be less analytical and use her “gut” when solving cases.
she’s extremely type A , educated nerd while booth is a religious all american veteran so he is way more sentimental and emotional. they often clash due to this.
while bones is extremely talented, the best in her field and is famous for her work (carmy!!!), she at times could be a little too distant and emotionally detached from the murder victims. Not from lack of caring or being cruel, she’s just extremely emotionally stunted in a job that doesn’t allow for “gut feelings” just objective facts and logical conclusions. unlike booth who uses his gut and emotions all the time in the field.
Booth really showed her that you need both brains and heart to solve these cases.
ultimately they both really cared about bringing justice and peace but had different approaches that worked better together than apart.
Tumblr media
parallel this to carmy a jaded famous chef whos only motivation to excel in his field was out of spite and abandonment issues from his brother meets sydney who teaches/reminds him why they do what they do. to take care of people, to make people feel good, to spread love through hospitality.
Sydney by just being herself and having these standards/ethics helps carmy strive to do better and be better and also rediscover his passion for cooking. while they build something new together.
