yes I love it when we see the team being competent and showing their skills but my favorite part of the show is when it's non-first responder characters who try to help. when it's a stranger who held on to a little boy through the aftermath of a tsunami till she could find his Buck or his dad. when it's a regular crowd who rushed to lift a ladder truck off a firefighter because they wanted to do what they could. when it's a guy working at the pier fair who sounded the alarm because it was his job even when he was terrified of the coming waves. when it's a bunch of neighbors who came out with wires and lights to connect someone's solar panels to a sick boy's house. when it's passengers on a flight doing CPR on a pilot and passing their medication to others. when it's shown that there will always be helpers, as much as there is misery, there will always also be good.

One of my very favorite things about “Gavin and Stacey” are the little moments like this that have nothing to do with the plot but exist to ground these characters in reality. Chatting with your mates about oven gloves is as normal and boring as anything and also relatable.

an underrated funny Star Trek moment: the part in “Mirror, Mirror” where McCoy is like “If we’re here in the evil universe, what are our evil counterparts doing in our universe?” And then it immediately cuts back to their universe, in which Spock is wrestling the evil counterparts into the brig because he’s already figured out exactly who they are and what happened
