Anzu stands out to me among the pantheon of anime love interests in the sense that she is snappy and aggressive in a way that is pretty unusual. Anzu is consistently portrayed as headstrong and a little short-tempered (the first thing Yugi ever says about her is to describe her as "pushy"). Aggression is a really common character trait for Shounen Anime Love Interests, but usually said aggression is quirky tsundere-ism and directed at the MC. Anzu gets mad, but she is never mad at Yugi. In fact I cannot recall a single instance of her getting mad at Yugi. She scares Jonouchi and verbally demolishes Kaiba and even yells at Bakura, but it's often in defense of Yugi, and her anger is never presented as an irritant or barrier to their relationship.

I dunno. Something about hearing "This shonen anime love interest gal is really pissed off!" and fearing we're going to get another exhausting Rumiko Takahashi style isn't-domestic-violence-funny-when-it-happens-to-men "romance" but instead finding out that this girl is actually really pissed off at everyone else, on behalf of her tiny boyfriend, because he asked for no pickles and you're all being mean to him.
