Nothing says summer like a cold beer, the outdoors and a dog. Luckily, there are numerous spots in Rhode Island where you’ll find that trifecta. Consider this […]

The strife of kingship was one Nikomachos did not take to naturally. His logic was sparse, and his reasoning often failed to identify overt solutions, yet Eurynome, his curious betrothed, why she had an eye for politics. Her life among court, although as a mere entertainer, had wrought her many appearances in the kingly chamber, as her gymnastics enthralled the men she kept a keen ear on their jabbering. From trade, to war, to personal grievances, the woman learnt how to navigate the politics of the Aegean without even having stepped on the oratory stage. She begged Nikomachos to divulge every Ekklesia meeting and every Ephorate debacle as she met their drama with succinct and mature management, but unfortunately her little bird was not one to actually rule or care for his region, instead, to live off its precedented wealth and assumption of obliviousness. His foolishness was a burden that only Eurynome could supersede, for as a bird of a paradise she could dance and dance to his song so that her own lyrics could overcome his own in a ventriloquist concerto.

california and new york get way too much musical attention. we as a society need more songs about other states. like what does a desperately homesick minnesotan gotta do to get a few heartfelt ballads and upbeat pop songs in dedication to my beloved home state. am i supposed to be content with a line in a macklemore song? the music industry is in a shambles.
#gav gab#minnesnowta#is my tag for Home#also shout out to the mountain goats for my favourite song thing#which is highly specific references to a geographical location#i have a playlist of those songs#and many Many of them are tmg lmao

A few days ago I had a dream where I was watching a casual geographic video where he opened with the line “which tree has the most black air force energy? Is such a thing even possible?” And I woke up before I could find out the rest of what he said.
#I’m also pretty sure there was a Groot joke/reference somewhere in there but idk#trees#nature#animals#casual geographic#dreams#my dreams

I am so fed up with hard binaries. A think must be wholly one way or wholly another. There is no grey. There is no "sorta". There is nothing in between. I fucking hate it. Things are complicated, you're not going to be able to look at anything meaningfully until you accept that
#this post was inspired by talking about the regional diversity/lack thereof within the United States#because “50 countries in a trenchcoat” is hyperbolic yes but there is still a significant degree of regional variation#I'd argue to an above average degree#Like if you brought a Cajun a Midwesterner and a New Yorker into the same room#and I had no frame of reference and was told they were from 3 different English speaking countries#I'd probably believe you#not to mention that the US is legitimately the most geographically diverse country in the world#like it's not even close#google it#but there are nonetheless widespread standards and values that make a lot of these very different places feel quite similar#which makes America (at least to me) incredibly fucking interesting

hello! i wanted to say i absolutely ADORE your art style, and in regards to your 'the world has been changed' piece - if it's okay to ask - i'm so curious about how you did those small rainbow lights at the bottom! is there a method or any advice/tricks you could spare? it's a small detail but i'm absolutely captivated by it
thank you so much!! 💖💖😭 it's a Clip Studio brush called Real Prism! I think I also used Prism Pens as well
for non Clip Studio users, similar light prism effects could probably be found in other brush packs or in stock texture images. brush effects and textures are your friends! just make sure to check usage rights when using any outside assets. 👍
#auropost#clip studio#clip studio paint#clip studio brush#this is your semi-regular reminder from an industry artist that using tools and art resources is not cheating#i used a creative commons image of the earth and traced that for the outline of the continents too#work smarter not harder!#if you want to at least#i'm optimized for speed with my work#but for someone just doing art for fun and as a hobby then there's less pressure to learn time-saving techniques#the patterns on the continents are not traced#but i did reference indigenous artwork from each geographical area for inspiration for the pattern designs#it would be fun to do a more detailed world artwork in the future that shows more specific pattern designs from more cultures#it was fascinating to research and to see the different shapes and motifs used around the world 💖 and to see their similarities!

across its history, england has been ruled by danes, italians, germans, the dutch, spaniards, germans again, danes larping as french dukes, and even, very occasionally, the english
#🗡️#the modern countries referring to the geographical areas#the romans were not of course italians#and the anglo-saxons were not exactly germans

ill give you a reason to hate our flag means death: its not a story Inspired in, like, the mythical figure of blackbeard or making some silly fantasy pirate nonsense, it's directly plucking the historic blackbeard and this plantation, slave-catching cunt he teamed up with once and making them go kis kis kis
knew you'd have a take on this. honestly idk if i even care to know all the ways this show is justifiably criticised bc i already know its just televised rpff & have already devalued it in my brain
#ikildaman shut the fuck up#tbhness i dont even care that bad bc obvs ive never watched it. like nun of this affects me#rpf has always put me off and i Really dont value rpf from FANfiction-y approaches#not only do i not know this random dead person but im probably worse off interacting w media abt them when i dont know them#+ im historically & geographically illiterate. i already dont know whats going on ever. there is no hook to make me care bout this show#other than >pirates and >maritime references#any rpf material i have successfully been made to gaf about i probably did not come into it looking for insight or w/e on the real ppl#or like the Notable Figures are not The Point#like charles darwin is in The Pirates!. this aint about him tho. this is about the Pirate Captain and Polly the Dodo#“charles darwin is drowning!” this aint about him

National Geographic's "my first pocket guide: Dogs & Wild Dogs," 1999, First Trade Edition 2002 reviewed and updated by Ronald M Nowak. Writer-Researcher for this book was Marfé Ferguson Delano.
Bought at my local thrift store, I haven't fully read this, but it covers a variety of dog breeds and wild canine species and is geared towards kids. It's incredibly adorable, and I'm going to use it as reference/inspiration for my own educational materials that I want to make!

i do think there are various ways in which (esp middle to upper class coded) southern english deviates from american english more than some other english dialects and this means that there are uses that sound weird to americans that don’t sound weird to me but which i don’t personally use
#‘pants’ for trousers is not uncommon in northern english dialects for instance#and is the primary term in eg the Bolton dialect#(a region within Greater Manchester)#i don’t recall if it’s in the historic county of Lancashire or Cheshire#for reference the borough of Manchester itself is in the historic county of Lancashire#but Wigan of Wigan Kebab/ smack pey wet fame is historical county of Cheshire#but still culturally greater manchester#if you are from yorkshire the Cheshire people are more weird than the lancashire people#bc lancashire borders yorkshire and i am from the bordering side of yorkshire#so yes the smack pey wet guys are bizzare to me too#if you are american it might be entertaining to look up the geographical distances involved here#my country dense bro

Humming and hawing over my January illustration
#something’s not clicking with it#it might have pushed the lighting too far into unbeliavability for the sake of composition#I’m using references#but really just for geographical features/flight rising assets#not using a lighting reference was an oopsie but I have such a strong image in my mind#if you’re mind is ever saying you don’t need a reference you’ve got this#it’s lying to you#to be fair I cannot find a reference for what I’m drawing right now#the creative process is so hard when your going through things but so satisfying once you’re done#if you’re still reading this…hi lol#I’m just rambling
