"don't make it political!" .... what proportion of death and suffering must occur before politics are involved. if this isn't political, what is even the point of any politics, ever. of democracy. the words are "by the people for the people." if i am going to be left alone by my elected representatives to "figure it out" - to undergo damage, hardship, fear. what the fuck did i elect them for. what was their job. the entire point is that they handle this shit. this is why we were supposed to be electing leaders.

poverty is political. misogyny is political. gun control is political. climate change is political. how much aid a community gets is political. what the fuck are you talking about. it's been political this whole fucking time.

He shrugs, "Yeah. Try saying zebra during sex. There's no way to make it not sound ridiculous and it's easy to remember." But he looks over at Ichigo, studying him a moment; next time. Ichigo just asked if they could do it now and he agreed, so he's a little surprised to hear it wont be happening now. Or as soon as they get inside, anyway. He scoffs, "I'm always generous, but if you tell people that I'll stop and no one will believe you." Generous probably isn't typically considered a loose term, but it is at the moment. His generosity is very much defined in his own way and usually skewed toward being equally as generous for himself.

That statement is such bullshit he laughs outright before casting a doubtful look on Ichigo. "You would'a let some nice guy see that and then walk away? To what? Politely tell the police? You're fuckin' lucky I'm not a nice guy." He scoffs and rolls his eyes so hard it hurts a little. Of course. But it's no surprise, he already knew that.

Ichigo starts getting undressed immediately and Shiro's a bit confused by that, because he seems awfully eager, but he also just said they weren't doing the role play killing each other thing so he isn't actually quite sure what to expect. It feels like maybe he should remind Ichigo he doesn't like surprised, expect that would be admitting he'd missed a social cue somewhere and wasn't sure what was going on. Maybe it's just regular sex instead of weird sex. Well. Ok. Regular for them. Whatever. "Licking and sucking sounds great, be careful with the biting but not no. I definitely want it back though." His attention tracks the sound of that belt buckle under the sound of the door. He kicks off his shoes and tosses his wallet onto the counter. "Security implies some kind of authority. It just seems like a bad mix. I've never actually had security, so I guess I can't say for sure." He's never needed it, and he's not convinced he needs it now. They'll either pull this off or they wont, and if they don't, they're likely to die horribly so it wont matter. He doesn't like thinking about that, so it gets brief recognition in his mind before he files it away and pretends it's not there. "How am I supposed to know when it's gonna be a problem?" It sounds an awful lot like Ichigo should be around all the time. Having Ichigo watch his back is comforting, though. He knows what Ichigo's capable of.

His eyes immediately track exposed skin and he pauses to admire while Ichigo walks through his place like he owns it. It's sort of nice and a tiny bit annoying at the same time. He snorts a laugh though, "Yessir." He makes his way down the hall, pauses at the threshold of his bedroom door just long enough to listen, before he steps through to give the room a quick once over. But nothing's out of place and there's no reason to expect anyone to be more after him than they were before. He strips on his way across the room to the bed.

Ok. Wow. Ichigo’s more into it than he expected. He half expected fake revulsion, the way Ichigo used to act like he wasn’t into the violence and things Shiro knew he was into, but evidently they’re past that. Honestly, he’s pretty happy about that. “Zebra’s my go to, but if you got one you like we can use that.” He shrugs. It’s not a big deal what word they use as long as they both remember it and it’s going to stand out. “Yeah, why not? Whenever you want.” He’s already awake and fed anyway.

He rolls his eyes, but smirks too.

“Yeah, fine, protective older brother, I get it. No worries.” No he doesn’t, but he knows he’s supposed to and he’s pretty decent at acting passably normal when he needs to. Ironic, given Ichigo’s sitting here trying to tell him he’s bad at talking to people who aren’t stoned. He snorts. “Oh, we know, you just don’t want me to be right.”

He steps up to his stupid new doormat and unlocks his less stupid new door. He smirks and looks over as he steps through the doorway, “You could slobber all over my good side if you want.” He sees exactly what Ichigo’s saying though, and he’s probably right. “Me and security don’t get along on principal, and I don’t wanna move. I like it here.”

Personally, I think Bilbo was pretty awful at processing his trauma (and the ring certainly did not help)

Bilbo quietly lived next his grief for years but never looked directly at it. He sent the mithril shirt to the mathom house. He watered down his story until it was something palatable for children—and what’s more, made himself as much of a bit player in it as he could get away with. Yes, he was still kind and generous and clever because he’s Bilbo, but he was probably also terribly lonely, surrounded by people who could never understand what he went through and what he saw. The only ones who could are thousands of miles away inside a mountain he refuses to visit because, again, he can’t look his grief in the eye.

Honestly, Danny is having such a good time right now. He gets to travel with Ellie, explore space, just have fun. Plus his secondary protector-instincts are having soothed despite him not technically doing any hero-ing anymore. Really his sister had the right idea when she decided she wanted to become a doctor, this is honestly a blast.

And if someone does end up passing away, well, Ellie is always happy to help soothe their spirit and guide them to the Realms where they can reach their respective afterlife. Or become a ghost. 

They are completely oblivious to the fact that there are now legends and entire temples dedicated to them now. Apparently accidental ascension is in fact a thing, as Dan later laughs at them about.

tbh I think Calypso views herself as Odysseus's rest and reward. like, she's the comfort in a hurt/comfort fic. she's the therapy saga. and honestly, a lot of her actions make sense when you look at it like that.

Odysseus is traumatised and scared and hurting. and she understands that. she's so understanding that she doesn't take it personally when he yells or screams or begs -- trauma makes it hard to regulate emotions, after all. he'll calm down in a little bit.

she's so understanding that she's not even hurt when he rejects her advances. he's been alone for so long that he's scared of intimacy now. but she doesn't let that discourage her. he'll get used to the idea eventually.

she's so understanding that she doesn't give up on him, even when he talks and talks and talks about his wife and son. obviously he wants to go back to them, but what he wants isn't what's good for him. that's fine, he doesn't need to know what's good for him yet. that's what she's for.

she's so understanding that she doesn't even let it upset her too much when Ody stands too close to the edge and stares out at sea below like its calling to him. it's okay. she can catch him if he falls.

sure, they're relationship isn't what she's dreamed about for centuries -- real relationships never are that perfect. her Ody has a lot of healing to do. and she'll make sure she's with him through it all.

I was ready to challenge that man to a duel for Pen's honor

His feelings for her were middling at best, I mean Christ on a Pogostick, after he asked her mum for permission to propose he isn't even happy when he opens the door and Pen is there? She's looking like a snack- nay, a whole ass MEAL, and he can't even smile? He just nods at her and dips the fuck out? You don't think it would kill Penelope to know that both her sisters have husbands who absolutely adore them and she's out here with an absent dude who likely won't even write to her?

Portia's 'Love is make believe!' speech is so transparently full of shit when you realize that we've got Dankworth who is so obsessed with Prudence that he makes heart eyes at her every waking moment and considers her his little bonbon and Albion who loves Phillipa so much that he was waiting for her to consent to sex (not realizing she didn't know what it was) for two entire years because he would never pressure her and so he was content with finishing in his pants when he kissed her to make sure she was comfortable. And you want Penelope to settle for a life of loneliness? When Colin is so besotted with her that he dreams of her and breaks every societal expectation in the book as a notorious People Pleaser to run after her and cannot even wait for the morning after being intimate with her to introduce her as his wife to his family in the middle of the night? You want her to turn down Mr "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible" Bridgerton? For LORD PENGUIN?
