Hey, I'm just starting my transition, I'm pre-T, and im really curious, is there any subtitle passing tips, without a need to have short haircut, thicker brows and short nais. Do this things really make me more masculine? I have a certain aesthetic "look" and it's a big part of my personality (I'm goth and rocking kind of Vkei make-up, also I love acrylic nails and fashion). I draw my lips smaller, do male face contouring, draw a mustache, pack and bind, but is there anything else I could do? Every time I look or ask for tips, every answer I get is just "cut your hair, nails, avoid make up" etc. and I don't want to lose parts of my life that I love.
It's more how you hold yourself. For example many men wear makeup and have longer nails and are still seen as men because of little things you wouldn't think about, like how you stand, the way you walk, the way you talk (not voice, by verbiage).
So many people think cutting your hair and stuff will help you pass better, it's really all about how you hold yourself, male body language.
Talking with purpose (don't use filler words such as; "like" "uh", "um", etc.) speak with purpose. Men talk differently than being raised femininely people with their hands as well. When speaking with your hands, don't flail them around, again you want to do everything with purpose.
Walking and standing are big, walking tall, chin up, walk with your shoulders more than your hips, stand straight. You want your walk to say I'm confident, I'm strong, I'm in control.
Eye contact: you want to seem in control, finding the right amount of eye contact may be awkward at first, but you want to appear you are standing your ground.
Sitting: opening your legs on a chair and/or taking up space in general while seating. This says I'm confident and I'm sitting here.
Opening up your chest/ shoulders to seem you are taking up more space without removing it from someone else.
I appreciate the fact of your (I'm sorry if I say this wrong) but being goth and having a look.
Lots of men have long hair and nails, and makeup but you still them as men because of their body language.
I have a post more in depth I will share here as well.
You want to produce alpha or BDE energy.
People watching is a great way to learn "male interactions"
Here is the previous post I wrote which goes more in depth.
Edit: Anon don't let anyone else tell you how to live your life and dress. If you want long hair you keep it buddy! If you want long nails and makeup you go buddy! Be you! I can give you any support you need. I'm proud you refuse to change to make others happy, you are the one who should be happy. The style you talk about used to be like 99% of the male artists I used to listen to back when the emo/scenes/goth scenes got big in music. You be you. I'm proud of you, honestly. I hope that this did truly offer you some relief and help. I wish you the best, and know I am here for any questions or even if this didn't help let me know.
I hope I helped feel free to ask more questions my friend.
Stay Golden ✌🏽💙❤️

One reason you might not be very "good" about a trans loved one's pronouns or the language you use for them might stem from memorizing what they want, rather than actually changing how you view them.
For instance, my trans friend came out rather late compared to me. However, since internalizing that I wasn't really correct about who she is, because she's a woman and I didn't know that, it was instantaneous to refer to her by her name, to use language that accurately reflects her instead of what I thought she was.
When you actually internalize that a loved one is actually this way instead of what you thought, it makes it so much easier to truly and actually change your perspective on them.
In short, are you memorizing who they are, or are you actually learning who they are?

So I made this post about genitalia differences for the sole purpose of this -
Sexual dimorphism is not that different between what medical textbooks deem "anatomically male (penis set) vs anatomically female (labia set)".
I jokingly say all the time "a clit is a mini penis" because the structures are so similar.
People get UP IN ARMS about lesbian discourse relating to trans men in lesbian spaces because "ew penis." People get UP IN ARMS about "if I as a man do anything with a penis outside of my own, OH MY GOD AM I GAY ?????".
They're just god damn organs. They're SO FUCKING SIMILAR. this is the equivalent of people (in a similar metaphor/similar) "rectangle vs square". For fluffs sake.

Small rant because I am PISSED at Collegeboard.
I’m transgender and was finally able to get my name changed (not legally, simply as a note in my records and my birth name made invisible to others) in my email and school system; which is connected to Collegeboard as I take numerous AP classes and the PSAT (and eventually an important SAT.) I received about 5 different emails congratulating me for being BrAvE eNoUgH to add a preferred name to their system, all of which used my deadname to congratulate me. On Changing My Name. It felt ironic, so I just laughed it off.
Than the problems began.
I take my PSAT a few months ago, and when scores come out, I’m unable to access it. Period. I went back and forth over the course of 20 emails, giving over my information and communicating just to be told at the end that it was never an issue they could help me with and that it was a “login issue” and that was somehow my fault. That maybe I was just misremembering my password despite the fact that I could get into my account.
I called, and was told the same thing. I was eventually able to get my guidance counselor to physically print out my scores because that was the best she could do for me (still couldn’t access them through my account!) I scored within the top ten percent in my state and have a 3.9 GPA, which qualified me for a recognition program that gives out important scholarships (which I need any I can get or else I’m not able to go to even an in-state part-time college) as a First Generation College student.
I got an email notifying me of this, and when I clicked the link, I was immediately blocked through my account from the page, saying i was never invited to confirm my eligibility. I try again, same thing. I meet the requirements, but it won’t even show me the page. Once again, I realize that making two minuscule changes that shouldn’t have affected anything have blocked me from ANOTHER important thing for college. It has been a year since I changed my name and I am still unable to access anything through Collegeboard and have received zero help for the numerous times I’ve reached out.
While it’s not explicit transphobia, it is still a BLARING issue of bias programming; for a company that set aside the time to make code to send an email when you change your name, I absolutely should not be experiencing such major issues that are continually blocking me from important opportunities due to changing my preferred name in the system. I don’t know who else this has happened to, but I don’t think I’m the only one.
Sort out your bugs and stop forcing trans kids to jump through a million hoops to access basic features on your website and still be excluded from important opportunities before sending out your automated emails for pride.

Send me examples of your trans joy
I’m currently collecting experiences (nsfw/sfw) of trans joy. Thinking of making a zine/booklet and publish it online for viewing pleasures and education. Anything that makes you happy from being trans, positive things about the community, being happier in your own skin and sexuality… etc. It doesn’t even have to be anecdotes, it can be a poem, illustration or any other creative media that can be put in a digital format (most likely a pdf).
Reblogs are absolutely appreciated and encouraged 💜 Thank you for reading this!

Today marks the annual Transgender Day Of Remembrance, so I wanted to share its history with you.
Take care of yourself, stay safe and cautious. Let me remind you that you're all valid & loved, no matter what!
In loving memory to everyone who's senselessly lost their life over just being themselves. You will not be forgotten. 🏳️‍⚧️

"... yes, i know that not every trans person has dysphoria..."
someone cant be trans without feeling socially, emotionally or physically dysphoric before???
yup! if someone identifies as trans without ever having felt dysphoric then to me, they are trans. i’m not the gender police 🤷‍♂️

Zinnia Jones (May 31, 2021). "Early use of masculinizing steroid oxandrolone in trans boys can add 2 more inches of height compared to testosterone." Gender Analysis. Live link. Archive.
The above blog post is about a study about looking for more suitable sorts of puberty blocking and hormone therapy for transmasculine youth. It found a treatment that is more effective for letting them grow up to be a couple inches taller, if they start it early, at age thirteen or fourteen. It's about this study:
Grimstad, F. W., Knoll, M. M., & Jacobson, J. D. (2021). "Oxandrolone Use in Trans-Masculine Youth Appears to Increase Adult Height: Preliminary Evidence." LGBT health, 8(4), 300–306. https://doi.org/10.1089/lgbt.2020.0355

Some trans men might have a knee-jerk reaction and say that nonbinary people and trans women (as an identity) have privilege and societal leverage over them.

Some nonbinary people might have a knee-jerk reaction and say that binary trans men and trans women (as an identity) have privilege and societal leverage over them.
While additional privileges will impact how you might be treated as a trans person, what all this tends to miss is that if you are trans, society doesn't want you in the public eye. Your options are (to please transphobic society specifically) to either slink into the deepest, darkest recesses of society or die. There are no trans people who benefit from this framework. There is no trans identity you could have that will please transphobic society.
This doesn't mean that there aren't other privileges you can have as a trans person because there certainly are - this means that transness will not save you when it comes to transphobia. This means that we absolutely cannot give into the impulse to feel like our experience with transness is the only one that matters, or worse, that other trans people have privilege because they're trans in ways we are not.
