i dont want to bring discourse by acting like something fictional is reality, but there is a deep, genuine twist & sadness in my gut at how the majority of fandom is gleeful to prove that aeor deserved to be shot out of the sky the next few episodes. knowing frida & fcg came out of it, seeing thousands of bodies, seeing the city fight amongst itself to stop its leaders, after hearing the anger & gravity in matts own voice as he discussed the ruin of the society... i cannot, for even a second, fathom justifying it.
were its leaders terrible, terrible people, yeah. if destroying an entire society, with no known canon survivors to speak of before campaign 2, is justified because of the actions of our worst members, those in power.... well. all of us clearly deserve death of the most vile, disastrous calibre.
something does bother me deep at the back of my head, how this entire campaign has happened, and people cannot show empathy/sympathy beyond (less than half of the) main cast, when that is the entire point. you cannot look at any aspect of this in black & white and doing so says more about our psyches than you might think. not one soul in the universe wants you to think ludinus is justified. and not one soul deserves for their entire world to be slaughtered and forced into the stone age because of others violence, of a man or god.
do you not see how aeor is us?

Rogue Trader - Act 4 - Heinrix romance - Corruption points
There are some dialog options in the game, that will add points to a corruption counter - with 3 points it seems, Heinrix will leave the inquisition at the end and give the true love achievement.
This works for Iconoclast playthroughs (I had 4 Icono and 2 dogmatic) but might be buggy in other runs (heretical full will not work, he belongs to the companions that will leave)).
In this case, you will have this additional dialog in the freeze scene of his romance:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Afterwards you can speak with him on the bridge about him leaving the inquisition (fully voiced too).
The relevant dialog options are (help from reddit user yellowfish28 here):
Act 2 - Janus ("Why must your concern for me be wrapped up in layers of rebukes and recriminations")
Act 2 - Black Ship ("You do not always have to appear invincible. Especially around me")
Act 3 - when you meet him in the pit where he rests ("They mutilated and maimed you purely because of what you are" or "It pains me even to listen to you. I cannot imagine the agony you suffered")
Act 4 - Date (but might require already 2 corruption points to be avilable) ("We have one life. I don't want to give all of mine to the Imperium with nothing left for myself. Do you? Do you actually want it?"
To use toybox to check/change the values manually (on PC) you can find an explanation here.
Here is the full video for the freeze scene:

"you may at the first think that I, Van Helsing, am mad—that the many horrors and the so long strain on nerves has at the last turn my brain."
The first thing that Van Helsing writes after killing the Weird Sisters on their beds. A warning to not call him mad for what he has seen, and done; to not call him mad for showing humanity to ancient ladies who had long abandoned theirs.
It's really something else to see how Van Helsing had to steel himself to kill the Sisters. How there is no rage in him to inflict upon them because they are not Dracula.
"At once I exulted and feared; for now, for good or ill, the end was near."
What does the staking of the vampire symbolizes in gothic stories? The killing of the vampire with a stake through the heart. An important organ that maintains our bodies alive, and blood pumping; so important that even in vampiric undeath it remains all centered, yet not beating.
Whenever a character stakes a vampire, it depends in the motivations for the killing. Either a victorious resolution done with a small stake that only needs a push to become efective, or a tragic task done out of pity for the undead creature still with a single stake, and a push. However, somehow (I don't know why), but somehow the narrative doesn't let these actions feel like murder.
Except for Van Helsing. Cultural default of the vampire hunter feels like a murderer at the steps of the chapel.
"I could not have endured the horrid screeching as the stake drove home; the plunging of writhing form, and lips of bloody foam."
The old professor breathes to calm himself down before starting an all bloody mission. Alone in an old chapel inside the cursed castle while Mina waits for him on the puré clean snow. There is no Jack to pray with him, nor Quincey nor Arthur to hold nor stake. Just lonesome Van Helsing with a knife, a hammer, and the same long stakes that killed Lucy.
All of this to murder the Weird Sisters, ancient ladies who were once victims of Dracula, and had now seen humanity change and change for centuries. Van Helsing holds no I'll intent for them, nor insults or curses. He tells how they can gain the upper hand on him with their powers, but still continues with his task.
Butcher's work Van Helsing called it. A horrible bloodbath done with his steady hand, and the sound of the stake and hammer piercing the tender flesh. Blood foaming down the lips, and choking the Sisters until their screams became whimpers, then silence.
Dear Lucy in heaven, are you watching this? Do you feel horrified or calm? Van Helsing couldn't stake you, he needed the help of all of your suitors to do it. He arranged everything to happen, and have Arthur the stake, and the hammer. Now Van Helsing is all alone in a cold chapel, alone with three stakes and three unbeating hearts. Alone as he walks disturbed with his mind weeping, and his hands covered in blood three times.
The act of murdering the Weird Sisters was not declared as a Holy act of retribution, nor a deserved victory against evil, it was butcher's work. The butcher doesn't listen to the cries of the cow, the pig, the chicken; the butcher just raises the knife, and closes their eyes before steeling the arm that lets the knife fall down.
Van Helsing is grateful for his nerves, for not running away from something that had to be done less Dracula had more allies at his side. Time will pass after this, yet maybe Van Helsing will never forget how his hands only trembled before, and after finishing such horrible act.
"I am at least sane. Thank God for that mercy at all events, though the proving it has been dreadful."

Advent Drabble 6 - Cuddling in a Freezing Van
For anonymous.
Patrick sometimes considers his life choices. For instance, in another life, he spends this frigid evening in a house with heat. In a bed with blankets. That sounds like a fantasy.
Instead, he’s in a freezing van debating whether it’s worth it to spend some of their meager cash reserves on a motel room.
“I think body heat will keep us warm,” Pete declares.
This sounds dubious to Patrick, but then Pete plasters himself up against Patrick’s side, molding against him perfectly, and he’s hot pressed against Patrick’s skin, and Patrick honestly can’t argue with it. This is the fantasy.

Wednesday.
So yesterday the following has come to my attention:
My father’s kidneys are starting to fail. He doesn’t want to go on a transplant list, to get a newer/ used kidney.
His numbers aren’t low enough to start dialysis yet, but his doctor wants to check his numbers again in 2 months, instead of every 4 months.
He also hopes to take his last breaths before he would have to start dialysis. Even though he’s been cleared to have a port inserted and he could do it at home.
He has also refused to have another kidney biopsy done, since the first one yielded poor results. Think lace and Lorraine Swiss cheese, those are his kidneys.
He told The Wife™️ that he found some sugar free jam at the grocery store and bought that for his English muffins.
Right Dad, never mind the plethora of meds you’ve been on for 40 years. Never mind the amount of cheap liquor you’ve been drinking. Never mind that for 5-8 years before your hip replacements, you took 650mg Ibuprofen and 500mg Acetaminophen about 4 times a day. No, no, go ahead and use all the sugar-free jam you want.
I’m sorry that you’re lonely Dad. I’m sorry that Mom died so young at the start of your collective retirements. I’m sorry that (redacted) forced you to sell your home and move to MI with her. I’m sorry that your SIL is a person who cares, and you’ve never experienced that in your life. I’m sorry that her daughter, your niece, my cousin, wants to help in any way she can. However, she will no longer have anything to do with (redacted)’s husband, nor her adult children which are chips off the shit-for-brains’ block.
I’m sorry that all this has happened to you. Most of all Dad, I’m sorry that you couldn’t stand up for yourself and tell her no. I’m sorry that you didn’t have the courage to stay on your own. It was nice living with you the last few months before I moved to CO.
I’m sorry, but I had to leave. The dysfunction had grown to big.
Let it be known, that once you’re gone Dad, and once we’ve settled all business…I’m never going back into that house again. I will visit others in MI, I will spend my time with people that care. Until the day comes when (redacted)’s husband dies, or perhaps worse.

Act 4 - Heinrix 2nd romance scene - spoiler
This is about the "freeze" scene. I checked it again regarding the corruption counter. and possible additional/other dialog options.
Corruption points:
If you have between 3 and 4 points, you will get one additional dialog option "I want to help you. Just tell me how." to save Heinrix even without skill check.
Tumblr media
It will also like the other two options with skill check then play the heresy etude which means additional dialog from Heinrix that he will leave the inquisition.
If you have less than 3 points, you get the normal etude where the dialog option is missing and the two skill check options do not feature the dialog about him leaving the inquisition.
Interestingly, according to toybox there should be other options there too where you can control if Heinrix will leave the inquisition or not even with all the corruption points. But I couldn't see them in game so maybe cut content?
"The imperium is not worth your life. Stay with me - we will be happy." -> Heinrix will leave the inquisition
2. "Don't throw away your life's work. We will find a way to be together - at least some of the time." -> Heinrix will not leave the inquisition
3. "You decide. I refuse to take on this responsibility." -> Heinrix will leave the inquisition
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additional dialog line for psykers
If you have a psy rating, you get an additional dialog line:
