« Le Bal des Ardents »
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finished a seven pages summary of one of my favorite historic moment in French history «  Le Bal des Ardents » ! It is set the 28 January 1389 .
Now some facts I couldn’t put in it !
Charles VI killed four men in a frenzy because he thought they were British soldier send to kill him ! They were in facts, only his close guard. The episode started after a man talked to him in the forest it all took place. He took 8 months to recover from this.
Strangely enough, even though « le Bal des Ardents » was a hugely traumatizing event, it is not the one that granted him his nickname « Le Fol » (the crazy ). It’s only 7 months after his mental health declined again without signs of improvements.
Infos kind of vary there but the event took place in the Hotel Saint-Pol OR the destructed and then reconstructed Hotel de la Reine Blanche.
Louis d’Orléans was 17 when it happened. People did think he did this to kill Charles VI and took the thrones. After the event he build the chapel « Le Couvent des Célestins » to expiate his crimes.
English is not my first languages also , sorry about the mistakes !!

il y a des tas de détails intéressants dans cette biographie, mais je dois avouer que 6 mois plus tard je pense encore surtout à cette scène où on a un peu l'impression que le régent de France gère une classe de maternelle.

Today, we're celebrating a monumental leap forward for love and equality: the anniversary of France legalizing same-sex marriage!
🎉 On May 18, 2013, France made history by becoming the 14th country in the world to say "Oui!" to marriage equality. This landmark decision was a huge win for the LGBT community and for everyone who believes in the power of love and commitment.
The "Mariage pour tous" (Marriage for All) law didn't just allow same-sex couples to marry; it also gave them the right to adopt children, ensuring all families could enjoy the same legal protections and recognition. This progressive move was celebrated with joyous public demonstrations and heartfelt ceremonies, marking a significant moment in the fight for equal rights.
France's bold step resonated far beyond its borders, inspiring other nations to reconsider their own laws and advancing the global movement for equality. It was a powerful affirmation that love should never be limited by prejudice or discrimination.
As we celebrate this incredible milestone, let's remember the ongoing journey towards full equality for the LGBT community. The legalization of same-sex marriage in France is a beacon of hope, showing that love and justice can triumph over division and intolerance.
Happy anniversary, France! 🎊 Let's keep spreading love and equality everywhere!

Are there any Napoleon or history enthusiasts here who can help me find a topic for my 14-page term paper? Is there a topic concerning Napoleon (his reign, career, wars, etc.) that you find particularly interesting and on which I could write an interesting question and thesis? It must not be too broad, but should be enough to be able to write 14 pages about it as a first-year student.

This popped up through having a conversation with someone, but I mentioned the history of French spoken in a few parts of India, which threw them for a loop.
Yes. Why, because the French also came to settle/exploit/trade. Big surprise.
French territories were: Karikal, Pondicherry (Puducherry now) and Yanaon to name some, and Puducherry was a colony until 1954. French is not widely spoken through India, but it is something close (not exactly) close to a secondary language in parts (note, in parts). But it's recognized. And, some historical Indian rulers learned/spoke it through the years of colonization. In terms of schooling? It's pretty popular in some places just as a second language to study because of the history of colonization in where schools/missions taught it that's endured now for trad. education to score extra marks in school.
Popular elective language (again in some places, not everywhere or even by and large a majority of places). We're talking a few places. But, since my friend was like wtf? Just figured okay, cool, small little factoid moment.
Anyways, carry on.

It was not ''witches'' who were tortured, raped, killed (of whatever kind), it was women, girls, children, teenagers, old women who were sexocided.
Agreeing that it was witches, or calling yourself like that, is just profoundly misogynistic. You're basically agreeing that they were ''witches'', therefore that their sexocide was justified and needed. You're agreeing with the demonisation of women and their Dehumanization. It's not okay.
From the beginning of the patriarchy, women and girls are sexocided by men. They erased, destroyed most (but not all) the sources about those eradication. The witch hunt is one of the few that are actually recorded, recognised, sourced and studied.
There are a fair few faux feminist statements I hate, but “We are the daughters of the witches you couldn’t burn” is one of them.
