Don't Get Fooled! Spotting Counterfeit vs. Forged Connectors
In the world of high-performance parts, quality matters. When it comes to connectors, forged connectors are the gold standard for strength and reliability. But beware – counterfeit connectors can sneak into the supply chain, posing a serious threat to your project.
So, how can you tell the difference? Here's a quick breakdown:
Forged Connectors: Made from high-grade steel, these connectors undergo intense heat and pressure to achieve a precise, uniform shape. Look for clean lines, a smooth finish, and clear manufacturer markings (often including certifications).
Counterfeit Connectors: Often made from inferior materials or with shortcuts in the forging process. They may have rough edges, uneven plating, and missing or blurry markings. The price might seem too good to be true – it probably is.
For guaranteed quality and peace of mind, trust forged connectors. IQS Engineering specializes in providing genuine, high-performance parts. Contact us today to discuss your project's specific needs and ensure you get the reliable connections you deserve!

DIY Welding Cable Connector Repair: Tips and Tricks
Tumblr media
Welding cable connectors are essential components in any welding setup. They facilitate the safe and efficient transfer of electrical current from the welding machine to the welding gun. However, over time, welding cable connectors can become damaged or worn, leading to poor performance and even safety hazards.
In this blog post, we will provide you with some helpful tips and tricks for repairing welding cable connectors yourself.
Common Welding Cable Connector Problems
Before attempting any repairs, it is important to identify the specific problem with your welding cable connector. Some common issues include:
Loose or corroded terminals: This can cause poor electrical contact and lead to inconsistent welding.
Damaged insulation: Damaged insulation can expose the electrical conductors to moisture and other contaminants, increasing the risk of electrical shock or short circuits.
Broken or worn cables: If the cables themselves are damaged, they may need to be replaced entirely.
DIY Welding Cable Connector Repair Tips
Safety First: Always disconnect the power to your welding machine before attempting any repairs. Wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves and eye protection.
Inspect for Damage: Carefully inspect the welding cable connector for any signs of damage, such as loose terminals, corroded contacts, or damaged insulation.
Clean the Terminals: If the terminals are dirty or corroded, use a wire brush or sandpaper to clean them thoroughly.
Tighten Loose Terminals: If the terminals are loose, use a wrench or pliers to tighten them securely.
Repair Damaged Insulation: If the insulation is damaged, you can attempt to repair it with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing. However, if the damage is extensive, it may be necessary to replace the entire connector.
Replace Worn Cables: If the cables themselves are worn or frayed, they will need to be replaced. You can either replace the entire cable assembly or splice in a new section of cable.
When to Seek Professional Help
While many welding cable connector repairs can be performed at home, there are some situations where it is best to seek professional help. If you are unsure about how to repair your connector, or if the damage is extensive, it is best to consult with a qualified electrician or welding technician.

Homebrew Horror: Dominion Disassemblers
Tumblr media
(Art from The Book of Unremitting Horror, pg. 66)
Though this is beyond the knowledge of any worldly being, the Dominion of the Black was not always the galactic union it is now. Until a united council with a common goal took the head of the Dominion, wars both petty and planet-scarring were common among its many factions, though in the centuries since their grand union, these squabbles have been reduced to near-nonexistence except when weapons must be tested.
Many relics from this tumultuous time remain in use even to this day, one of the most 'famous' being the Gan-Dergorin, known in the common tongue as Dominion Disassembler, monstrous, nigh-unkillable biomechanical titans with a unique behavioral quirk built into their very genetic code which made them useful in the old wars, and has them remaining useful even now, long after they're no longer needed for their original purpose: destroying Dominion technology. The war machines of the Dominion are unlike any of the minor scouting and scientific units seen on Golarion's soil, the twisted mixtures of flesh and steel nearly impossible to truly put down for good, able to continue their terrible march even as enormous portions of their bodies were torn away.
That is where the Gan-Dergorin come in. These bestial constructs have a simple tactic when facing down any enemy: tear it to pieces too small to remain active. Even the most resilient Dominion machines of terror cannot survive the thoroughness of the destruction that Disassemblers enact upon them, severing every single joint and connector from one another until their victims are rent to their smallest possible components. A Disassembler which has the time to do so will then go even further by separating all types of tissue and matter from one another, then carefully sorting the mangled gore into piles and rows based on how useful it believes its alien masters may find the components, behavior which assured a steady stream of resources for the flesh-forges of the Dominion.
Even today, their gruesome displays are useful when intimidating or punishing captive populations, though Dominion science has advanced to the point such brutal measures are no longer needed; they have much more thorough and effective means of reducing living creatures to their component parts. As such, Disassemblers are used as weapons of terror against the Dominion's enemies among the stars and within their own populations, though this isn't to say they're restricted to distant worlds.
The arrival of a Disassembler on soil beyond the Dominion's grip is an occurrence which is rare to the point of nonexistence, but it has happened both by accident (errant portals and teleportation errors) and purposeful action. On the exceedingly rare occasions when a cultist manages to establish and survive contact with entities concerned with the Dominion's war effort, they can be convinced to send one of these horrors to the cultist's world. Rarely does the cultist survive to give the war machines an actual order, allowing the machine to do what it does best: kill anything it encounters, and assure its own continued survival.
Gan-Dergorin CR 11 Chaotic Evil Large Construct Init +2; Senses: Darkvision 80ft, Low-light vision, blindsense 10 ft, Perception +17 Aura: Frightful Presence (60ft, DC 15) ----- Defense ----- AC 25; touch 11; flat-footed 23 (+2 Dex, +14 natural, -1 size) HP:110 (13d10+30) Fast Healing 5 Fort +4, Ref +6, Will +7 Defensive Abilities: Reassemble, Upgrade; DR 5/--; Immune Construct traits; Resist Fire 10, Cold 10, Electricity 10; Weakness Serial Number, Thorough Disassembly ----- Offense ----- Speed: 30 ft, climb 10ft Melee: Pneumatic Cleaver +19/+14/+9 (2d6+6/x3), Variable Arms +13 (2d6+3/19-20) Space/Reach: 10ft/10ft ----- Statistics ----- Str 22, Dex 15, Con --, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 6 Base Atk +13; CMB +20; CMD 32 Feats: Cleave, Cleaving Finish, Critical Focus, Improved Cleaving Finish, Great Cleave, Power Attack, Technologist(B), Weapon Focus (Pneumatic Cleaver) Skills: Climb +19, Disable Device +9 (+13 vs machinery/technology), Perception +17, Stealth +3; Racial Modifiers: +4 to Disable Device checks against complex machinery and technology Languages: Aklo (rarely speaks) SQ: Freeze (pile of metal junk), Standing Orders, Thorough Disassembly ----- Ecology ----- Environment: Any Organization: Solitary Treasure: Standard (scrap material, integrated items)
----- Combat: Disassemblers are not complicated creatures. They charge into combat with reckless abandon, using their Great Cleave and Improved Cleaving Finish to slaughter as many weak enemies as they can with a single attack before focusing down remaining foes one at a time with their Full-Attacks, using Power Attack at every opportunity. If given an option, Disassemblers prefer to target any creature capable dealing damage it cannot resist or nullify. A Disassembler will chase down any creature it believes it can kill and will not stop until its enemy escapes or it is driven back by damage.
Morale: A Disassembler brought below 1/4th of its HP maximum will immediately retreat to recover, even if it means abandoning fallen foes, Once it has regained at least half of its total HP and perhaps integrated new weapons, it will track down its foes to dispatch them. If it is slain in combat but permitted to return to function, it will Upgrade itself and track down its killers if possible, and follow its Standing Orders if not.
-----
Reassemble (Ex): Dominion Disassemblers can reattach severed limbs and portions of their bodies by holding it to themselves for 1 full round. A Dominion Disassembler is not destroyed when it reaches 0 HP, but is rendered inert and helpless. 1d4 hours after being reduced to 0 HP, all the alien machinery within whirls back to life--it reactivates at 1 hitpoint and resumes Fast Healing. Only the thorough and comprehensive destruction of its remains using methods such as immersion in magma, acid, or a similar substance, or turning to ash via Disintegrate or similar, can prevent a Disassembler from returning to function; otherwise, it can pull itself together from even the smallest remains.
Serial Number (Ex): All Disassemblers possess a serial number etched on a plate of alien metal somewhere within their body which is kept hidden near their centers. The number cannot be observed unless the construct has been rendered helpless, and even then it requires a DC 23 Perception check to find. Any creature capable of reading and speaking Aklo can make a DC 23 Linguistics check to memorize the Serial Number or write it down perfectly.
A creature may give a verbal command to a Disassembler by speaking its entire serial number aloud and stating the action they wish it to take, in Aklo. Due to the length and complexity of each serial number, this is a full-round action which provokes an attack of opportunity, and being struck by the attack of opportunity ruins the attempt to speak the number. If left without orders, Disassemblers typically try to destroy any creature that knows their serial number. Most creatures which learn of a Disassembler's serial number can easily get rid of the creature by ordering it to take a self-destructive action, or to accept the effects of a spell which will teleport or plane shift it a great distance away.
Standing Orders (Ex): To await further orders from their commanders, Disassemblers go into a low-power mode if they have not encountered another creature in 24 hours. In this mode, they come to rest and resemble a pile of junk, though they remain somewhat aware of their surroundings and may make Perception checks at a -5 penalty to detect nearby creatures and passively make Stealth checks to hide in plain sight as a pile of scrap. They can remain in this low-power state indefinitely, and will do so as long as they are not alerted to any creature, and spring back to full functionality instantly when alerted.
Thorough Disassembly (Ex): A Disassembler gets Technologist as a bonus feat and has a +4 bonus to Disable Device checks to sabotage or take apart complex machinery and advanced technology, and Disable Device is a class skill for it. In addition, after reducing a creature to 0 HP, the Disassembler is compelled to butcher it to prevent its return. It can resist this compulsion by succeeding a DC 20 Will save; otherwise, it must spend its next round attempting to coup de grace that creature if it is still alive, or to begin ripping it to pieces if it is dead.
Upgrade (Ex): When a Disassembler is defeated but permitted to Reassemble, it learns from its failure and seeks out methods to upgrade itself. A Disassembler has a number of Upgrade Points equal to 3 + its Wisdom modifier (6 for a typical Disassembler) that it may divide as it sees fit, and each time it is defeated, its Upgrade Points reset and may be redistributed. A Disassembler requires 1d4+1 days to make upgrades to itself as it gathers raw material from any source it can find (the DM may rule it finds parts much faster in areas with high amounts of technology), and never wastes time and resources upgrading itself unless it is defeated. It can take most of the upgrades multiple times; their effects stack. It will typically choose upgrades which prevent it from being beaten via the same methods it fell to previously.
1 Point: Gain 10 points of resistance to 1 form of elemental damage, or increases its resistance to an element by 10.
1 Point: Increase its natural armor by +1 or its DR/-- by 1.
1 Point: The Disassembler integrates a set of armor and/or a shield it can get ahold of into its body, granting itself the benefits of wearing the armor/shield (AC, magical abilities) but without suffering armor check penalties or speed reductions. It can only integrate one set of armor and one shield at a time.
2 Points: Increase its walk and climb speed by 10ft each, or gain a 10ft swim speed.
2 Points: Gain a +2 profane bonus to a saving throw of its choice.
3 Points: Gain 25% Fortification.
3 Points: Gain 1 feat it qualifies for.
Variable Arms (Ex): The Disassembler's Variable Arms natural attack can switch between slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage as a swift action, or change into a tool capable of fine manipulation which also acts as thieves' tools. The construct can also replace its Pneumatic Cleaver with any melee weapon it finds with 1 minute of work, losing its Cleaver attack but allowing it to use that weapon without penalty. It is considered proficient with any weapon it integrates, and wields even two-handed weapons with a single limb.

HOLY SHIT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm just... WOW
Jay taunted the General into breaking his tooth.
"Pain? Pal, this is nothing compared to the last time I was captured. They hit me so hard my molars came out. You... You're a lightweight."
God, speedsters are so good at pissing people off on purpose. It's a skill and a talent and they use it well.
Jay got what he wanted from the interaction. The General lost his cool and knocked one of Jay's teeth out. Which he apparently wanted because his plan was to spit that tooth with the force and velocity of a gunshot.
God.
Damn.
Jay's molar pierced the Doctor's metal plated, armored vest and shattered the speedforce connector inside. He then used the Doctor's frozen body to escape his restraints.
Jay is going full Die Hard on an alien ship right now. Jay is Sigourney Weaver in Alien. When they took the 'old guy', I don't think they were prepared for the war vet who was a prisoner of war in World War II, regularly fought against Nazis and forged the way for modern superheroes as we know it. Jay is a friendly guy but you better hope to hell and back that you don't piss him off because he is an absolute beast when he's in war mode.
I'm so excited to watch this Grandfather tear some aliens apart.

Backstory: Agni grew up in a sketchy neighborhood in Under Rageous. Surrounded by violence and bounties, he was forced to work at a young age to help support his family. Everyday he feared he’d die on the dangerous streets. As he grew, so did his pent up aggression and rage. His parents split and he was left along in his fathers care, going to his mothers on the weekends. As soon as he reached eighteen, he booked it out of his fathers care and packed his bags and searched for a place to call home. Eventually coming across an old warehouse for welding/ construction, he contacted the owner and bought the warehouse for 1600 Bitz. (16,000 USD thank you Nally for helping me with that) He gradually moved in all while fixing up the place, teaching himself how to weld and construct things. Ever so slowly, he eventually started to make and sell traps to other Rageons for their bounties, getting paid good! Unable to keep up with the high demand of traps, Agni started hiring other Rageons who needed a place to work, making sure to pay them fairly. Word spread that PyroTech Construction made high quality traps for a fair price, causing a certain Strobe Rageon to hear about Agni’s little company. One busy day however, Agni was busy connecting sharp metal teeth to a snap-trap when a razor sharp steel plate fell from a steel beam and sliced his arm clean off. The shock sent him back as the adrenaline kept him from feeling pain. He was rushed to the hospital, where he got the wound closed off, somehow surviving all that blood loss. After he recovered, he immediately began working on making himself a prosthetic, taking months to build and program. After half a year, he finally completed the prosthetic, and just had to install and activate the neuro connector. A neuro connector is like a hearing aid but it cuffs behind the ear. Pressing the small button, a long surgical needle pierced into his head, right to the section of his brain that moved and controlled his arm. Bam. He had a new arm now!

(Sometimes I hate using the mobile app because it messes up how I post things and then I gotta recycle the darn thing... > <' )
With my recent respiratory turmoil now having mostly passed, I feel like it was good to revisit an old piece because I've been craving some world building lately. And remembered how much I did not like how this turned out at the time, and then scrapped it and its post…
But after reworking the lore from a garbled mess to something I actually like, and can digest myself... and I decided to tweak it a bit and repost it under a second chance to hopefully fuel more world building posts like it.
Lore drop below the cut explaining some of what is here on the refrence page, and a taste of my D&D level of world building. (You know I need to make D&D Player stats for these guys at some point…)
Forge-Born: 'The de-facto nobility and keepers of authority of their side of Weapon World. Forge-Born vary in size and build, but are always large compared to a human; with 9 feet being the smallest, and just over 20 feet being the tallest. While being at the top would seem like a luxury, any Forge-Born would tell you it is not; as each familial house that is not royalty runs a certain 'bureau' that caters to the maintenance and order of their expansive empire. This, on top of the creation and upkeeping of the Weapon Bots they create; even the position of royalty is a tough position to envy. Each Forge-Born family is said to bear its own unique set of physical traits; from tusks to horns, or multiple eyes. This is especially good at discerning ones heritage among others. As per individual- the magics and true form of a Forge-Born can either stagnate in their similarity to that of their blood relatives, or vary wildly.’
Chera: 'A knight-like, but hardy species of robot. The Chera stand around 6 to 8 feet in height. While their builds may vary, they all don their own unique armor and hand held weapon; most often axes or maces, with a sheild in the other. Due to being naturally more hardy in build than Teners or Shino, Chera can be found serving in the military alongside Weapon Bots; with some weapons keeping them as close partners to stay grounded, or cover any weaknesses in combat. The horns of a Chera vary per person, with some individuals occasionally developing the same horns as one of their parents.’
Shino: 'Skulkers of dark alleyways, and taversers of silence, the Shino are natural experts of espionage. On average they stand around 5 to 6 feet tall, with a slim and flexible build keeping them in shape to slip away from any trouble they get into. While the Shino do make great assassins and spies- but actually have better career variety than that. Many tend to live peaceful lives among Tener's as farmers, or even work high blue collar jobs. One constant however, is the fact that everyone agrees to have never seen a Shino's face behind their face masks before. While it is a familiar,  yet intriguing mystery- no one has ever dared to take a peak…’
Tener: 'A small Toad-like species that stands around 4 to 5 feet tall. True to the pun of their namesake, Tener's are the 'connectors' that make the kingdom function. Like their Toad counter parts they can take up almost any job, and live in most places making them as important as any societal leader. Mostly however, they can be found working jobs that keep the kingdom afloat such as farmers or shop and inn keepers. Even Weapon Bots say that even the smallest Tener can be a huge powerhouse. Also it is of note that when under exstreme emotion such as shock or surprise, their unique hats tend to spin.’

you said it a little better than me in that poll but im the exact same of like we should at least have interest in each others works even if we dont read anything and yeah these tags too!!!! thank u for living inside my brain
Tumblr media
YES OKAY i’m glad you get it because i feel like i sound cunty but idk how else to say some of this stuff skdjdnssj
like it’s not because i want “clout” or “fans” or anything like i don’t give a fuck about all that, but idk i kinda like for us to vibe with our preferences/interests??? i want to WANT to read your stuff if you’re also a writer and vice versa. and tbh i feel like i need to start being a little more picky than i have been in the past because it makes me feel shitty when i eventually find out i can’t really vibe with anyone’s works or preferences at all 😭😭 i know it’s not supposed to be transactional but also ??? i feel disconnected idk like i’m not a huge “people person” in general so the initial connector for me is often a person having particular works or interests i like
not that everything should be like a tiktok algorithm or whatever and that you shouldn’t look at things outside your own immediate preferences, but some things are just too far out there for me sometimes and i’m ngl i don’t like when it’s in my face all the time 😭 it’s kind of a struggle as someone who is dom-leaning and somewhat masculine, etc. i realize i’m sort of an outlier but is it really so bad for me to not wanna see princess stuff all day 😭 like i don’t know when it crosses the line of “curate your experience” to “i’m just being a bitch” jddjdjdnd
maybe i’m being too picky and irritable and bitchy but idk. i like forging nice connections over shared interests and whatnot because otherwise it feels kinda fake or like i’m watching everybody else play barbies while i wanna play bratz or whatever. LMAO idk. not always, but yeah. i feel like i’m not making much sense rn but oh well!!! sorry for rambling as usual

Hi, how can I make connections ? I feel like my life is full in every area and I feel so good however I feel that the social side is lacking a bit.
Hi love! I think the best options are either to tap into your current network through work/school or expand your network through joining clubs, events, interest groups, volunteer networks, etc.
For work/school: Strike up conversations with coworkers/other students who you think you might click with, initiate or try to find a study group/learning workshop on a certain skill/area of your field, set up a group lunch or coffee chats, or attend affiliated events (networking, cocktail parties, etc.).
For expanding your network: Join local professional networks, book clubs, enroll in workout classes/language classes, or cooking/art classes, attend relevant events in your industry or interests, seek out events on meetup.com, volunteer for a local cause/museum you love and care about, invite people to informal informational interviews.
General Tips To Expand Your Social Connections/Network:
Initiate a low-stakes meetup (like a coffee, lunch, or drink) with a super-connector friend or acquaintance (one of those sociable people who seems to be beloved and known by everyone) to rekindle your connection and help them keep you top of mind for invites/introductions to others they believe are like-minded
Say "yes" to attending social gatherings like dinner parties, cocktail hour, networking events, or interest group events (museum/art gallery openings, speakers, etc.)
Allow friendships to stem from professional, mentorship, and potential suitors (some individuals you go on dates with can end up being better as friends!)
Share about something(s) you love on social media and forge connections/create a group surrounding this common interest
Hope this helps xx

hi, me again. I just wanted to ask, what are your thoughts on Liege Maximo and their cult? any headcanons, plots or other? 👀 - tfp nerd anon
Liege Maximo holds a strange place in worship due to the constant reshaping of his character, depending on the Age and the cultural shifts that occurred. But so far, his main epithets are the:
Prime of Deception ("Lies")
Prime of Stories
Prime of Many Faces
In some ages, he's cast as the most evil. The true villain that destroyed the balance between Light and Chaos and caused the downfall of the Thirteen with his malicious whispers over Megatronus' shoulders. In other times, he's a consummate diplomat that mediated his siblings' rivalries and troubles between them and the mortals. Sometimes, it's both. A few, he's regulated to a minor yet necessary component to the Thirteen. In one strange story, Prima, who was tired by his little brother's whimsical tricks, ordered him to bond to Solus to keep Liege by her Forge and away from everyone else. This backfired as Liege began to entertain the mortals that came to Solus for boon, so Liege granted the more clever of the pilgrims inspiration to deal with their troubles.
This constant flux of his image suits him well - hard to pin down this capricious, silver-tongued spirit.
Liege Maximo is a strange Prime that his insignias are typically drawn in groups with others rather than stand-alone.
He fulfilled so many roles and meshed well with others, so he essentially acts as a bridge and a connector because that's where his aptitude lies: with others.
A few examples include:
A diplomat for Prima and his Guiding Hand
A strategist with Megatronus
A patron with Solus and Micronus
A scientist with Quintus and Alchemist
A trickster with Amalgamous
A bard to Alpha Trion's Quill
It's been thought that Liege Maximo is a counterpart to Amalgamous' many physical frames, but Liege focuses on the inner or mental fortitude to take on so many roles with ease. Because of that, he's actually invoked outside the gladiatorial clades, and is very popular among performing artists, orators, medics, scientists, and politicians.
Hear me, my siblings!
For I bring both
Joy and sorrow,
Truth and lie.
Is it mine or yours?
-- "Harbringer," author unknown
Liege Maximo was known to speak not only at intellectual halls and Prima's court, but he was also found among the newly forged Cybertronians. His sly tongue made him an excellent storyteller at hearths, and many flocked to see if they could trick the trickster, listen to him play, or watch his famed Darts in action.
Speaking of the Liegian Darts with its infamous ability to produce any toxin, its master had dabbled into antidotes as well. While the Iacon's oldest medical school will deny the origin of a medic's crest, there's historical evidence that trainees had small, red crests and full-fledged graduates had the golden horns as an ode to Liege and his early works into laying the foundation of medicine during Prima's reign.
The followers of Liege Maximo vary like the many Faces of their chosen Prime. With the outbreak and eventual escalation of the civil war, they either pledged to Megatron (as Megatronus was Liege Maximo’s old ally), Optimus (ordained by Prima and Liege had play an instrumental part in his Guiding Hand), or remained among the Neutrals as guardians (Liege once was deemed a protector of heaths and the Forge).

The Social Media Paradox: Unraveling the Digital Tapestry of Our Minds
In an age where our thumbs do more scrolling than our legs do walking, it's time we took a deep dive into the paradoxical pool of pixels we call social media. This digital playground, once hailed as the great connector, has become a labyrinth of likes, shares, and mental health snares. But fear not, dear reader, for we're about to embark on a journey through the looking glass of our screens, where nothing is quite as it seems.
The Anxiety Algorithm: When Likes Don't Equal Love
Imagine, if you will, a world where your self-worth is determined by a complex equation involving heart emojis, thumbs-up icons, and the elusive blue tick. Oh wait, you don't have to imagine it—we're living in it! Studies show that spending more than two hours a day on social media is like playing Russian roulette with your mental health, with anxiety and depression waiting in the chambers.
But here's the kicker: while we're busy curating our online personas, we're simultaneously comparing our behind-the-scenes footage to everyone else's highlight reel. It's like trying to win an Oscar with your blooper reel—an exercise in futility that would make even Sisyphus say, "That's rough, buddy."
The Cyberbully Pulpit: When Keyboards Become Weapons
In the grand colosseum of the internet, modern gladiators wage war with words, emojis, and the occasional poorly-photoshopped meme. Cyberbullying, the dark underbelly of our digital utopia, has turned screens into shields and avatars into armor. With 34% of students reporting cyberbullying experiences, it's clear that the playground taunts of yesteryear have evolved into a 24/7 digital onslaught.
But here's a thought: what if we treated online interactions like we treat our diets? Just as we wouldn't consume a steady stream of junk food, perhaps it's time to put our digital consumption on a strict nutrition plan. After all, you are what you eat—and what you tweet.
The Insomniac's Lullaby: Scrolling Yourself to Sleep
Picture this: it's 2 AM, and you're bathed in the eerie glow of your smartphone, thumb moving with the precision of a surgeon as you perform your nightly ritual of checking every social media app. Congratulations! You've just signed up for the "Sleep is for the Weak" club, where the currency is dark circles and the motto is "I'll sleep when I'm dead (or when my phone battery dies)."
The irony is palpable: in our quest to stay connected, we're disconnecting from the very thing that keeps us sane—a good night's sleep. It's as if our phones have become modern-day Sirens, luring us onto the rocks of insomnia with their sweet, notification-filled songs.
The Dopamine Dilemma: Addicted to the Feed
Let's face it: we're all junkies, and our drug of choice comes in the form of likes, shares, and retweets. The constant need for validation has turned us into Pavlov's humans, salivating at the mere sound of a notification. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) isn't just an acronym; it's a way of life, driving us to stay plugged in lest we miss out on the latest meme or social media challenge.
But what if FOMO is actually causing us to miss out on something far more valuable—real life? It's time we asked ourselves: are we living our best lives, or just our best-filtered lives?
The Silver Lining in the Cloud (Storage)
Before you throw your phone into the nearest body of water, take heart! Like a double-edged sword forged in the fires of Silicon Valley, social media can be both bane and boon. When wielded wisely, it can be a powerful tool for connection, support, and mental health awareness.
Imagine using social media like a potluck dinner: bring something to the table, share in the feast of ideas, but don't overstay your welcome. Set boundaries like you're guarding the last slice of pizza—fiercely and without apology. Engage in digital detoxes as if they're spa treatments for your brain. And remember, just as you wouldn't invite the entire internet to your house party, be selective about the online communities you join.
The Plot Twist: You're the Hero of This Story
As we navigate this brave new world of likes, shares, and viral dance challenges, remember that you're not just a user—you're the protagonist in your own digital narrative. The power to shape your online experience lies in your hands (quite literally, if you're reading this on your phone).
So, dear reader, I challenge you to view your social media use through a new lens. Question the status quo of your scrolling habits. Draw connections between your online behavior and your offline well-being. And most importantly, approach your digital life with the critical eye of a scientist and the creative spirit of an artist.
In the end, social media is neither villain nor hero—it's a tool, as complex and multifaceted as the humans who created it. Our task is to master this tool, rather than let it master us. After all, in the grand tapestry of life, social media should be a single thread—not the whole fabric.
So go forth, tweet wisely, and may your mental health be as robust as your Wi-Fi signal!

Hey i don't know if the worm power oc is still a thing but i just came up woth something.
A mix between a thinker and crawler.
The way that the power works is that the cape can in their head design thinker tech limbs implants in their head. like a chip that allows you to use/acess tech remotely or an arm that allows you to throw tanks around with a flick of their wrist. then when the get injured their injured parts are replaced with said thinker tech. The tech has some limmets:
They can't get bigger then 9'5 feet
They only replace the injured part so they won't get their entire arm replaced when the have a cut on their thumb.
Once a piece of their body is replaced it cannot be returned to an organic state not even by other thinkers
If a injury is on a place of their that is already replaced it can be upgreded or modified, the catch being that each time the cape does this the time it takes for a upgrade or modification to be done increases.
Oh and for alignments they are a member of the guild.
Okay my sleep schedule is shot to shit and it is too humid for me to think right now so this might not be my best work.... I wasn't planning on doing these today but I like your idea so let's give it a try.
First of Tinker, not Thinker.
I'm getting massive Doc Ock vibes, but also some Armsmaster and General Ironwood from RWBY (Also, someone needs to write a post comparing Ironwood and Armsmaster because there's definitely something there).
It would be so easy to make this charcoal a villain, even as part of the Guild they could just be someone waiting to go off the deep end, another Tinker who lost too much and became another Mannequin....But honestly doing that to an amputee character seems more than a little bit out of order.
So this is a hero, to the very core of their being.
This is someone who really does love people and wants to see the best in absolutely everyone, if they have a flaw it's believing that everyone can be saved, be rehabilitated and be fixed and being willing to lose more of themselves in pursuit of that.
You said they're like Crawler so let's work with that..the upgrades stated small, a "Literal thumbdrive" here, gyroscopic balance when fixing a snapped ankle there but that was years ago and now the work is so extensive that there's actually very little of the original person left; just most of a face, a brain and spinal cord, a heavily protected bag of organs and connections between them whilst the body around them is completely modular.
They do still have a public persona though, they have a mostly human body; basically an artificial copy of their original self which does have a slight uncanny valley effect about it which they use for public appearances, it even has a costume (Grey, black and neon green with a visor and an abstract helix/circuit board pattern)
When they're working though their remaining parts get entombed on a mech torso and their limbs get mounted into connectors for heavy duty replacements depending on the job.....Treads, rocket boosters, whatever you need they've got leg attachments and the arms can be fitted with a collection of (usually non-lethal) weapons; definitely a containment foam gun on one arm.
I like the idea that they could have been great friends with Dragon, if Dragon had ever been willing to tell them the truth.
As for their Cape name: "Doctor Svarog" after the Slavic God of the forge, fire, the sun and creation.

The versatility and superior performance of forged connectors make them indispensable in a wide range of industries:
Oil and Gas: Withstanding extreme pressures and temperatures, forged connectors are critical for pipelines, refineries, and drilling operations.
Chemical Processing: Handling corrosive substances requires robust connectors, and forged components deliver exceptional resistance.
Power Generation: From nuclear power plants to hydroelectric facilities, forged connectors ensure reliable and efficient energy production.
Automotive and Aerospace: Lightweight yet strong forged connectors are essential for reducing vehicle weight and enhancing aircraft safety.
Choosing the Right Forged Connector
Selecting the appropriate forged connector depends on factors such as:
Material compatibility: The connector's material should be compatible with the fluids or gases being handled.
Pressure and temperature ratings: Ensure the connector can withstand operating conditions.
End connection type: Choose between threaded, socket weld, or butt weld connectors based on application requirements.
Compliance with standards: Adherence to industry standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM) guarantees quality and safety.
By understanding the benefits and selecting the right forged connectors, engineers and designers can optimize system performance, enhance safety, and extend equipment lifespan.
In conclusion, forged connectors are engineering marvels that deliver exceptional strength, durability, and precision. Their role in critical industries is undeniable, making them the preferred choice for demanding applications where reliability and performance are paramount.

20240112: the History of LEGO Castle day 012. 6040-1 Blacksmith Shop (1984, 93 pieces, 42 different parts) The very first of the LEGO Blacksmith shops (6040-1) came out in 1984 and had a variety of brand new pieces. The Blacksmith Shop features a light gray wall with a red forge and chimney on a green baseplate. A black horse and two brown wagon wheels are set aside, showing a story idea of a broken down wagon the blacksmith must repair. The set includes two minifigures, one with the gold and black axes crossed triangular shield print on a red torso with blue arms and the second instance of gendering in the LEGOLAND System Castle theme, as the blacksmith appears to wear only a brown apron to go with the black pants and black hands over a plain yellow torso. Though, this shirtless blacksmith could very well be a woman, that just seems like a bad idea to me. The axe-person features the standard dark gray axe helmet while the blacksmith has the black hood. The brown plastic cape (used as the apron) was ONLY found in this one set, making it rather difficult to get a hold of, and, as odd has it sounds, the plain yellow torso with black hands was also only found in this one set, though the plain yellow torso was found in multiple sets throughout the years. This set introduced the light gray 2x5x6 castle wall panel, featured often throughout castle sets. While two of the walls are blank, the third wall has a dark gray stone pattern surrounding the window. This is also the first set with the light gray technic connector pin, indicating this set can be combined with others in the series. One of my absolute favorite parts about this set is how this is the first set to include instructions for one of the alternate back of the box builds. I actually can't think of any other LEGO castle sets that do this, but I'll keep my eye out for it as I progress through this history :) Other back of the box builds from this set include different versions of the wall and wagons or chariots, which can only be build because two wagon wheels and two connectors were included in the set, though not necessarily used with the intended design, but rather set to the side. If you want to know more about the designer, Daniel August Krentz, BrickSet did a really nice tribute and has a full list of everything he designed.

So proud to feature an antique micro mosaic artwork by Fabbrica Angelo Pessar (signed FAP on the reverse) in my latest lost object assemblage bracelet. Angelo Pessar worked in Italy from 1870 to 1900 making tiny pieces of Murano glass art for tourists visiting Italy during the Victorian and Edwardian era. This broken star shaped pendant with beautiful forget- me-not-flowers has been reawakened after long being forgotten in a junk stuff box and is the centrepiece to my blues themed reclamation bracelet. It sits alongside other repurposed and salvaged treasures like a decorative enamel button, engraved George West solitaire bachelor stud (circa 1872 - 1890), tiny Persian Qajar painting on mother of pearl tablet, my own abalone triangle connector with Roman glass bead front and many vintage rhinestones (lost vintage earrings) and Czech glass beads. The bracelet is adjustable from 7.5 inches up to approx. 8.5 inches using my hand forged brass hook. The Importance of the Lightsaber
What follows is a series of excerpts from the novel I, Jedi by Michael A. Stackpole:
Tumblr media
The lightsaber, while an elegant and deadly weapon, was not that complex. Getting the parts to put one together was not difficult at all. To serve as the hilt, for example, I salvaged the throttle assembly and handlebar tube from a junked speeder bike.
(...) I got the dimetris circuitry for the activation loop from an old capital-ship-grade ion cannon fire initiation controller (...) The recharger port and wiring came from a comlink. A milled down Tri-fighter laser flashback suppressor became the parabolic, high-energy flux aperture to stabilize the blade and I pulled the dynoric laser feed line from the same broken laser cannon to act as the superconductor for energy transference from the power cell to the blade.
Tumblr media
Buttons and switches were easy to find, and dear old Admiral Tavira, with her gift of the brandy decanter and snifters, provided me all the jewels I needed to make half a dozen lightsabers.
Tumblr media
(...) Before I could figure out how to put Tavira off for another month, Elegos decoded an annotation to the instructions for constructing lightsabers. It turned out that during the Clone Wars, Jedi Masters developed a way to create a lightsaber in two days. Nejaa included this method, noting it was to be used only in times of pressing need, but not in haste. I read it over and felt a certain peace settle upon me. I knew the words had not been written for me, but they sank deep into my core. Urgency without panic, action without thoughtlessness.
(...) I sat in the middle of the floor, with the parts for the blade laid out in a semicircle around me. I studied each one and used the Force to enfold it and take a sense of it into myself. My hands would fit the pieces together, but I wanted the parts to mesh as if they had been grown together. The lightsaber would be more than just a jumble of hardware, and to make it I had to see the parts as belonging together.
I fitted the activation button into its place on the handlebar shaft and snapped the connectors into the right spots on the dimetris circuit board.
Tumblr media
I worked that into the shaft itself, then inserted a strip of shielding to protect it from even the slightest leakage from the superconductor. Next I snapped into place the gemstones I was using to focus and define the blade. At the center, to work as my continuous energy lens, I used the Durindfire. That same stone gave my grandfather’s blade its distinctive silver sheen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used a diamond and an emerald in the other two slots. I wasn’t certain what I would get in the way of color tints from the emerald, and with the diamond I hoped for a coruscation effect.
Onto the end of the hilt where the blade would appear I screwed the high-energy flux aperture. It would carry a negative charge which would stabilize the positively charged blade and provide it a solid base without allowing it to eat its way back through to my hands.
(...)  I clipped the discharged energy cell in place, then connected the leads to the recharging socket.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I screwed the recharging socket into the bottom of the hilt, but didn’t fasten on the handlebar’s original butt cap that would protect it because I needed to charge the power cell for the very first time.
In what amounts to just a handful of pages in a singular book, Stackpole so vividly describes not only the physical process of constructing a lightsaber, but the spiritual essence of what it means to be a Jedi, in its purest form:
(...) With my finger poised on the transformer button that would start the energy flowing, I drew in a deep breath and lowered myself into a trance. I knew that manipulating matter sufficiently to meld the part and forge the weapon would have been all but impossible for anyone but a Jedi Master like Yoda, but doing just that as part of the construction of a lightsaber had been studied and ritualized so even a student could manage it. It was very much a lost art, a link to a past that had been all but wiped out, and by performing it I completed my inheritance of my Jedi legacy.
I hit the button, allowing the slow trickle of energy to fill the battery. I opened myself to the Force and with the hand I had touching the lightsaber’s hilt, I bathed the lightsaber with the Force. As I did so subtle transformations took place in the weapon. Elemental bonds shifted allowing more and more energy to flow into the cell and throughout the weapon. I was not certain how the changes were being made, but I knew that at the same time as they were being made in the lightsaber, they were being made in me as well.
In becoming a conduit for the Force for this purpose, the final integration of the people I’d been occurred. The fusion became the person I would be forever after. I was still a pilot: a little bit arrogant, with a healthy ego and a willingness to tackle difficult missions. I was still CorSec: an investigator and a buffer between the innocents in the galaxy and the slime that would consume them.
And I was Jedi. I was heir to a tradition that extended back tens of thousands of years. Jedi had been the foundation of stability in the galaxy. They had always opposed those who reveled in evil and sought power for the sake of power. People like Exar Kun and Palpatine, Darth Vader and Thrawn, Isard and Tavira; these were the plagues on society that the Jedi cured. In the absence of Jedi, evil thrived.
In the presence of just one Jedi, evil evaporated.
Just as with the lightsaber, the changes being made in me were not without cost. What the Force allowed me to do also conferred upon me great burdens. To act without forethought and due deliberation was no longer possible. I had to be very certain of what I was doing, for a single misstep could be a disaster. While I knew I would make mistakes, I had to do everything I could to minimize their impact. It was not enough to do the greatest good for the greatest number, I had to do the best for everyone.
There was no walking away from the new responsibility I accepted. Like my grandfather I might well choose when and where to reveal who and what I was, but there was no forgetting, no leaving that responsibility and the office. My commitment to others had to be total and complete. I was an agent of life every day, every hour, every second; for as long as I lived, and then some.
(...) I nodded and brandished the lightsaber. I punched the button under my thumb, giving birth to the silver blade 133 centimeters in length.
Tumblr media
“A lightsaber and robes. Looks like a little justice has arrived on Courkrus, and it’s about time.”
This is what almost everybody gets wrong about the Jedi - never mind the Prequels, the Sequels, or the vast majority of EU novels - the Jedi are an absolute good. They are life. They bring order to chaos. Every moment of their lives is spent, their spirits grappling against the disorder of a universe torn between Dark and Light.
If you haven’t read I, Jedi, you might consider picking it up.
As I’m sure many of you have already deduced, the accompanying images are of my own personal Corran Horn lightsaber. I’ve just recently finished a complete overhaul and rebuild of it, and I just had to show it off. I’ll be posting more info & pics about it soon, but I want to address one key aspect of saber building here, as it pertains directly to my own personal journey and growth.
This portion of the book holds incredible significance for me; it allows me to imagine, however briefly, that I’m undertaking a similar spiritual ritual, imbuing my own sabers with the same energy that Stackpole so flawlessly describes here. It’s so rare to feel so seen and be so moved by a piece of fiction. For the discerning Sabersmith, it’s very much like Corran says:
I knew the words had not been written for me, but they sank deep into my core.
Thank you for this book, Michael. 🥂
