Late-night conversations

It’s late, and I’m a little bit bored and a little bit tired, 

And the spark of our old conversations has never expired, 

I wasn’t going to message you, we don’t do that anymore, 

But I knew you were still awake, so I messaged you once more. 

It started off simple, catching up, reminiscing about old days, 

Then the inside jokes started, in our once familiar ways, 

It felt like no time had passed, like we were back to where we stood, 

Laughing at the silly things, the memories that felt so good. 

We reminisced about the past, the moments we held dear, 

Remembering the laughter, the joy, and the nights filled with tears, 

Reconnecting through the stories that time could never erase, 

Finding comfort in the familiar, in each other's embrace. 

Time had passed, we had grown, and we were wiser now, 

But still, the same old friends, with the same old vow,

The years had changed us, but our bond remained strong, 

In the echoes of our memories, we felt we still belong,     

We talked until the morning light began to creep, 

Though we knew the day would start, we didn’t want to sleep,

For now, it was just us, in our little world once more, 

Two hearts connected, like they were once before. 

But as the sun rose higher, reality began to call,

We knew this moment couldn’t last, we had to face it all,

With a smile and a sigh, we said our goodbyes,

Knowing that this night was a fleeting reprise.

Though our paths may diverge, and life may pull us apart,

We’ll always carry this night, deep within our hearts.

Bittersweet was the dawn, as we went our separate ways,

Cherishing the connection that once lit up our days,

Though we may not talk for a while, we won’t forget,

Our paths will cross again, of that you can bet,

One more conversation will never be enough,

For the bond we share is made of stronger stuff.

In the future, when we meet, we’ll pick up where we left,

With stories to share, and hearts that are bereft.
