I liked how in Nosferatu it’s shown that Ellen not only leaves Thomas behind, lets him go, but she effectively remarries, by dressing up in wedding gown and pledging herself to Orlok and then consumating their sort of marriage. Orlok came before Thomas as Ellen’s dark suitor and Ellen ended up in the end with Orlok, not Thomas. Lilacs as running theme also support it because they are associated with Orlok so even when Ellen was marrying Thomas with lilacs on her head she was involving Orlok into her marriage.

Yes, the lilacs!.. God, the lilacs. She wore them throughout the film, on her dresses, in her hair, as a scent - they're such a prominent motif, and it's very clear that she was never able to let go of her occult nature entirely, despite her very best efforts to conform. The way Orlok reacts to the scent of them in the locket is so telling, too!.. It must've felt like a secret note, passed in code - my first love, I've never forgotten you. Come to me. The hesitation, the slight trembling in his hands as he holds it. The way he keeps it without question, the way he can't resist opening it just to catch the scent - again, again, again. There is something so vulnerable about their connection, on either side.

I think that's why their consummation is so tender sdksjgdjh

What Weapons Would I Use If I Was a Witcher

Hello dwarflings (and wandering travellers)! In today's yapping sessions, I thought it would be cool to talk about customised weapons I would have if I was a Witcher. I do, in fact, have a decorative Witcher sword (flexing I know haha), but with my *tiny* hands the two-handed sword is more of a 3 1/2-handed sword XD.

Instead of a typical two-handed sword, I would exchange it for either a Viking seax or a gladius sword. Ooooo maybe the steel sword Geralt has could be the gladius sword and the silver sword as seax (or visa versa). With a dagger/small knife, I'm fond of the shape of a kris knife

I know a Witcher only has two swords (and a knife kept in their boot), but There are other weapons that I think would be cool to wield. An axe for a starter. I lowkey think that axes are better to wield than swords - swords are a bit overrated haha. A great axe would be awesome as its double headed, but could be harder to manoeuvre compared to a sword.

Another type of weapon would be more specific fight against monsters sensitive to silver, especially vampires (well most of them anyway). Since I was a kid Blade has been my (marvel) superhero so I would want to incorporate some of his weapons - alongside Van Helsing - as part of my Witcher inventory. Instead of throwing knives, throwing silver stakes! Yes! if guns aren't invented in the time period where I'm a Witcher, then have a crossbow mechanism that fires the stakes.

If I was a Witcher further into the future from when the Witcher is set, I would DEFINITELY want flintlock pistols (like a pirate haha) with silver bullets.

The Monster Wrangler

Spent all day yesterday drawing this instead of doing sensible things. 😅

I think on daily basis there are a lot of people that need to consider themselves lucky that we keep our monsters in check.😝 It's a full time job keeping those bastards occupied.

Voltaire does a good job with mine a lot of the time and some times I like to imagine I help a little with his too.

In the end they might end up devouring us but we'll give them a good fucking fight for as long as we have a little light to guide us.

I refuse to change my headcanon that most of the other people at Canaan House probably thought Gideon was Harrow’s pretty boy toy until she showed them she could actually fight because she acted exactly nothing like a real Cav in anyway. A teenage ruler shows up with a hot butch that clearly isn’t trained to be a ninth Cav or even a normal-ish one? Come on. They probably thought griddlehark were over compensating trying to hide by staying away from each other.

Gotham has so many rogues and most of them don’t actually cause that much trouble in the grand scheme of things, so other than the really big ones, like joker, news about Gotham rogues can get pretty muddled outside the city which leads the JL to believing that Batman and Manbat are the same person and that their colleague sometimes turns into a giant bat monster but they don’t bring it up bc they think it’s a sensitive topic

Which eventually leads to a scenario like this mid combat when they’re getting pretty desperate:

Green Lantern: I know we’re not supposed to talk about it or whatever, but it would be really helpful if you could turn into a giant bat right now, spooky

Batman, having zero context for this comment, pausing mid fight to look at Hal like he just grew a second head: What the fuck are you talking about, Jordan?

Green Lantern, suddenly much less confident: Um…you know how you…turn into a giant bat?

Batman, utterly bewildered, turning to the other members but finding that he is clearly the only one out of the loop: what is happening right now

I find this dichotomy so funny:

Odysseus, who has been in war for years and is quick to be crafty and trick his enemies: *laments and mourns giving up mercy and being forced to become the monster*

Telemachus, the one with a reputation of being small and weak with a good heart: *kills a man from behind while they’re distracted without any hesitation or remorse*
