Top 7 places to visit in Sikkim
Sikkim is a beautiful state nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas in India. Sikkim is a must-visit location for anyone wishing to experience the best of the Himalayas.
It is known for its amazing scenery, colorful culture, and kind hospitality. Here are the top 7 Sikkim destinations you must see if you're thinking about visiting.
Gangtok Gangtok is the capital city of Sikkim and the hub of all activity in the state. It serves as the Gangtok District's administrative center. At a height of 1,650 m (5,410 ft), Gangtok is located in the eastern Himalayan range. The 100,000 residents of the city are from a variety of Sikkimese ethnic groups, including Indian Gorkhas, Bhutia, and Lepchas. Gangtok serves as the center of Sikkim's tourism sector and is located among the higher Himalayan ranges, where the climate is warm and temperate all year round. Gangtok is a must-visit location because of its humming markets, vibrant culture, and incredible views of the Himalayas. Many monasteries and temples can be found in the city, including the Rumtek Monastery and the Enchey Monastery, both of which are significant religious sites. Tsomgo Lake Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changgu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometers (25 mi) from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m (12,313 ft), the lake remains frozen during the winter season. The lake's surface reflects different colors with the change of seasons and is held in great reverence by the local Sikkimese people. Buddhist monks prognosticated after studying the changing colors of the lake. Tourist attractions at the lake site include joy rides on decorated yaks and mules where kiosks offer a variety of food and drinks. There is also a small Shiva temple on the bank of the lake. As the lake is located in a restricted area it is essential for all Indians visiting the area to obtain permits. In the case of foreign nationals special permit is essential. The lake is famous for its crystal-clear waters that change colors throughout the day and is bordered by snow-capped mountains. Nathula Nathula is a mountain pass in the Dongkya Range of the Himalayas between China's Yadong County in Tibet, and the Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal in Bengal, South Asia. The pass, which rises to a height of 4,310 meters (14,140 feet), connects Gangtok and Kalimpong with the settlements in the lower Chumbi Valley. Winters in Nathula Pass bring a lot of snowfall. This region could experience temperatures as low as -25 degrees Celsius. If you really enjoy the snow, you can wear heavy wool clothing and explore Nathula Pass in the winter. The summer season, when the temperature hovers around 10 degrees Celsius, lasts from May to mid-November. Yumthang Valley The Yumthang Valley, also known as the Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary, is a natural preserve in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim state in India that features a river, hot springs, yaks, and grazing pasture on undulating meadows. At a distance of 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the state capital Gangtok, it is located at an elevation of 3,564 meters (11,693 ft) above mean sea level. A trip to Yumthang Valley is never complete without taking a yak ride. Yumthang Chu and Puniya Chu, two nearby rivers with good fishing, are close by. And only 7-8 kilometers away lies the stunning Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, a 35 square km field home to over 38 distinct species of rhododendrons. A hiker's trail goes to a little bridge that crosses over to the Yumthang Hot Spring on the way to the Yumthang Valley. What is surprising about this location is that the water coming from there stays warm even during the coldest temperatures. Additionally, due to the high sulphur content, it is thought to have medicinal value for healing. In addition to the hot spring, there is a very well-known Shiva Temple about 7 km to the north. Another extremely well-liked trekking location is Zero Point, which is about 23 km from the Yumthang valley at an elevation of approximately 15,000 ft, not far from the Chinese border. Its outstanding visual appeal and unimpeded view of the snowy peaks make it extremely appealing to hikers. Pelling Pelling is a mountainous town in Sikkim, India's Gyalshing district. Pelling is tucked away at a height of 2,150 meters (7,200 feet). The settlement lies 10 kilometers from Gyalshing City, the district's administrative center, and 131 kilometers from Gangtok. The two towns are linked by a frequent bus service. However, due to the increase in visitors, the area is changing, with the construction of hotels and repairs to the roads. At an altitude of 2000 meters, Pelling experiences summer temperatures as high as 25 degrees Celsius and winter temperatures as low as 1 degree Celsius. In the summer, it is quite warm and comfortable. July through September is when the monsoons occur. Pelling can be visited throughout the year, however, it is advisable to stay away from a trip during the monsoon seas Lachung Lachung is a town and hill station in northeast Sikkim, India. It is situated close to the Tibet border in the North Sikkim district. Lachung is located at the junction of the Lachen and Lachung Rivers, both of which are tributaries of the River Teesta and is at a height of approximately 9,600 feet (2,900 m). Lachung means "small pass" in Chinese. The town is located about 125 kilometers (78 miles) from Gangtok, the state's capital. Lachung is an offbeat destination, untampered by the hues of modernization. It is a popular destination amongst those that love time with nature. If you wish to explore the best of Sikkim, then a trip to Lachung is a must! This little town is filled with nature’s magnificence and glory. Here, you can enjoy the peace and also indulge in activities that will get your adrenaline rushing. Rumtek Monastery Rumtek Monastery, also known as the Dharma Chakra Centre, is a gompa that can be found in the Indian state of Sikkim, close to the state's capital Gangtok. The 16th Karmapa officially opened in 1966 as the Gyalwang Karmapa's seat-in-exile. The issue surrounding the 17th Karmapa is also a focal point for the sectarian conflicts that exist within the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Rumtek Monastery's weather is very similar to Gangtok City's because of its proximity. The optimum times to visit Rumtek Monastery are thought to be from March to June and from October to December because the summers and autumn months are nice. Avoid the monsoon, though, as the persistent rain might ruin your trip and make sightseeing challenging. In conclusion, Sikkim is a wonderful state with breathtaking scenery, a thriving culture, and kind people. Sikkim offers something for everyone, whether you want to get a close-up view of the Himalayan up close, learn about the regional culture and cuisine, or just relax and unwind in a peaceful environment. Therefore, be sure to include these top 7 locations in your itinerary if you're planning a trip to Sikkim. To read more blogs – Click Here Read the full article

“Listen you wake up at 6 AM Eastern for pro MMA? You get what you pay for.” UFC in China preview
Joey
August 27th, 2019
Maaaaaan zoowiemama.  The UFC's return to China on paper seemed like a great idea! A few good fights and a bunch of Chinese prospects on the undercard with a big time title fight headliner pitting China's greatest fighter against a fun yet flawed champion? What could possibly go wrong! Well for starters,  the climate in China is probably not conducive to a fight card where the focus would be on the first ever Chinese born title challenger. Even if we ascribe to the concept presented by Dr. Ferdie Pacheco that "fights go where they're needed", there's no doubt that this entire situation with Hong Kong protests happening daily cast a shadow over the card. Beyond that? this card has been besieged by injuries. We'll get to it but needless to say, there's pretty much an injury replacement in a bunch of these fights. Following THAT up? The UFC has arguably three of the best Chinese born fighters absent on this show. Wang Guan is still missing, having not fought since beating Alex Caceres in a really impressive debut. Xao Xiaonan beat Angela Hill in June and that's not a great turnaround time and while putting Song Yadong on the PPV prelims of a major show was probably the right idea, it DOES take away from the card when he's not here in China. I suppose that's either or neither nor at this point. What remains are some intriguing fights IF you're the sort of person curious about the growth of Chinese MMA or you're the kind of guy who likes to be able to say you saw so and so before they became a big star. Also the top three fights are pretty damn good and worth your time to see them.
Fights: 12
Debuts: Mizuki Inoue, Zhenhong Lu, Jun Yong Park, Khadis Ibragimov,  Karol Rosa, Laura Propico, Batgerel Danaa, Heili Atateng
Fight Changes/Injury Cancellations: 4 (Mike Grundy OUT, Zhenhong Lu IN vs Movsar Evloev/Saparbek Sarafov OUT, Jamahal Hill IN vs Da Un Jung/Jamahal Hill OUT, Khadis Ibragimov IN vs Da Un Jung/Luana Carolina OUT, Mizuki Inoue IN vs Wu Yanan)
Headliners (fighters who have either main evented or co-main evented shows in the UFC): 3 (Li Jingliang, Elizeu Zaleski, Jessica Andrade)
Fighters On Losing Streaks in the UFC: 1 (Da Un Jung)
Fighters On Winning Streaks in the UFC: 6 (Jessica Andrade, Weilli Zhang, Elizeu Zaleski, Kai Kara France, Li Jingliang, Damir Ismagulov)
Main Card Record Since Jan 1st 2017 (in the UFC):  24-5
Weilli Zhang- 3-0 Jessica Andrade- 5-1 Li Jingliang- 5-1 Elizeu Zaleski- 5-0 Mark De La Rosa- 2-2 Kai Kara-France- 2-0 Movsar Evloev- 1-0 Zhenhong Lu- 0-0 Yanan Wu- 1-1 Mizuki Inoue- 0-0
Fights By Weight Class (yearly number here): Welterweight-  2 (49) Bantamweight- 2 (45) Women’s Flyweight- 1 (28) Women’s Strawweight- 1 (22) Women’s Bantamweight- 1 (14) Flyweight-  1 (12) Light Heavyweight- 1 (32) Middleweight-  1 (29) Lightweight- 1 (52) Featherweight-  1 (41)
Heavyweight- (24) Women’s Featherweight- (7)
2019 Number Tracker
Debuting Fighters (23-46)- Mizuki Inoue, Zhenhong Lu, Jun Yong Park, Khadis Ibragimov,  Karol Rosa, Laura Propico, Batgerel Danaa, Heili Atateng
Short Notice Fighters (23-30)- Khadis Ibragimov, Mizuki Inoue, Zhenglong Lu
Second Fight (46-22)- Movsar Evloev, Derrick Krantz, Anthony Hernandez, Su Mudaerji
Cage Corrosion (Fighters who have not fought within a year of the date of the fight) (19-31)-
Undefeated Fighters (29-31)- Laura Procopio, Khadis Ibrabimov, Movsar Evloev
Fighters with at least four fights in the UFC with 0 wins over competition still in the organization (10-8)-
Weight Class Jumpers (Fighters competing outside of the weight class of their last fight even if they’re returning BACK to their “normal weight class”) (25-17)-
Twelve Precarious Ponderings
1- Where can Weili Zhang match up against Jessica Andrade? On paper, Zhang's probably a tier below Rose Namajunas and Joanna in terms of Andrade's opponents at 115 lbs. What she does have I think that those two don't is a tremendous amount of physical strength and a bit of a bully mentality. Zhang's very strong and I think she's one of the rare people who can maybe in brief glimpses give Andrade trouble just on her physicality alone. Zhang doesn't quite have the same handiwork that Joanna had where she kept Andrade at bay with basically two punches but I think Zhang has the ability to be somewhat of a force in the clinch. She's probably the strongest opponent that Andrade has faced since Rocky Pennington or maybe even Liz Carmouche.
2- Has the overall political climate soured the fact that China could get its first ever UFC champion? Primarily IN China where you'd hope that this would be a big deal.
3- Is Zhang's cardio vs Andrade's power something to watch in the latter rounds? It's totally unfair to point this out given how she has KO'd two fighters in a row but Andrade's pop tends to wane the deeper into a fight she goes. On the other hand, can Zhang keep her wind about her for five insane rounds with Andrade should it go to that point?
4- Elizeu Zaleski has been pretty much unstoppable since entering the UFC. He has one loss that to me was really not a loss (a split decision to recent UFC re-signee Nicolas Dalby) and most of his wins have been either violent finishes to the likes of Sean Strickland and Omari Akhmedov or they've been brutal back and forth fights like the Max Griffin and Lyman Good fights. He's pretty much picked off the underbelly of the WW scene and it getting a pseudo step up although he's probably due a much bigger name at this point. I'm not sure what the UFC doesn't see the King of Caiopera but hopefully another big fight and they will. Li Jingliang is not the super patient multi dimensional fighter who tends to give Zaleski some problems but he's also one of the wilder brawlers with pop in both hands who can catch Zaleski if he gets sloppy on offense.  We have seen Zaleski get hurt in the past so the Leech has a shot here.
5- What's the point of Kai Kara-France facing a guy coming off a loss at 2-0? Feel like at this point, they've trying to build him up as a potential #1 contender if they need one at 125 lbs. Either that or they don't have a great deal of faith in him as a title contender.
6- It's yet another injury marred fight but Wu Yanan vs Mizuki Inoue is a really intriguing fight. It feels like Mizuki Inoue has been on a path to the UFC for about five years now with injuries and close losses marring the entire road there. She's finally made it as a short notice alternative and faces Wu Yanan who of the chinese signed fighters is probably a slight step behind her peers like Weili Zhang and Xao Xionan. That said she's athletic and looked worlds better between her debut where she lost to Kailin Curran and her shocking sub win over Lauren Meuller. Because she's not super active, it's hard to know just how much she's improved or how much the Meuller fight was a fluke. This is a stern test really for both ladies.
7- There was a lot of hype on Russia's Movsar Evloev coming into his UFC debut but he took the path of least resistance in his debut en route to an easy decision win. On paper the UFC had put together a damn good prospect vs prospect fight with he vs Mike Grundy but Grundy got hurt and now Evloev actually gets a pretty blegh rematch. It'll be Movsar vs Zhenhong Lu again, a rematch of their 2015 fight that I have no exist about. Lu is 0-3 vs UFC quality competition (losses to Azamat Gashimov, Movsar and Shane Young) and seems like the sort of guy who best represents the scraping of the bottom of the MMA barrel. This SHOULD be a showcase for Evloev.
8- So how does Andre Soukhamtath give THIS fight away?
9- Song Kenan vs Derrick Krantz  is going to be a WILD fight well worthy of your time. Except if you're on the pacific or west coast, you guys need your sleep.
10- There are people, and I don't want to shame them of course so I won't name them but know they exist, who would probably rather watch the WBW fight on this card over the LHW fight on this card. Remember them for they walk among us. They eat and breathe in the same restaurants we do!
11- LFA middleweight champions have had some success in the UFC so it was a bit of a surprise to see former champ Anthony Hernandez blasted out in his debut. Of all the guys signed off of DWCS Season Two, I would've bet hard on Hernandez finding a home and success pretty much out the gate. Instead Hernandez was ran over by (ironically enough) FELLOW LFA middleweight champ alumni Markus Perez. Hernandez gets debuting Korean fighter Jun Yoon Park on the prelims.
12- Realistically speaking, what would justify getting up for this card at 6 AM other than a crippling MMA meth addiciton?

China’s geopolitical strategy cannot be countered by PR: Rahul Gandhi targets Centre
NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at the Centre over the “renewed China threat in Doklam” report, claiming the Chinese authorities have set up a village inside Bhutanese territory. In a tweet, Gandhi said: “China’s geopolitical strategy cannot be countered by a PR (Public Relations) driven media strategy. This simple fact seems to elude the minds of those running GOI (Government of India).”
Tumblr media
Wayanad MP’s response comes days after Bhutan rejected the report claiming the setting up of a Chinese village inside Bhutan. “There is no Chinese village inside Bhutan,” Major General Vetsop Namgyel, Bhutanese Ambassador to India, had told ANI.Earlier, Shen Shiwei, CGTN News producer, had tweeted, “Now, we have permanent residents living in the newly established Pangda village. It’s along the valley where 35 km south to Yadong county.” Later the tweet was removed. The Pangda village lies 2 kilometres within Bhutanese territory. In 2017, India and China were engaged in a 73-day standoff in Doklam after Chinese troops were building a road from their territory to the Jhamphiri ridgeline. Currently, the Chinese and Indian troops are engaged in a stand-off since early May along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The situation along the LAC deteriorated in June following the Galwan Valley clash in which both sides suffered casualties. Twenty Indian soldiers lost their lives in the violent face-off on June 15-16. It happened as a result of an attempt by the Chinese troops to unilaterally change the status quo during the de-escalation in eastern Ladakh.

An Ugly Wall of Text from Your Average Inspirit
Hello friends, it seems as if my impulsive posts are more common than my carefully structured and articulated ones these days.
Despite being deep into Week 2 of UC right now, the past happenings with the Infinite members have pushed me to especially look for an outlet to unleash my somewhat “rampant” emotions.
Yesterday, I discovered that basically all the Infinite members (besides Sungyeol at the moment), went on an “unfollow Hoya on Instagram and delete all pictures of him and OT7” spree. As a foreword, I am not saying that I know exactly what happened, nor do I want to pose any viable answers. I simply want to talk about how this makes me feel.
First, Infinite has grown significantly, no, immensely since I first started following them around 2011. It is now almost 2018. To put this concisely, I loved them back then, and I love them even more today. I have matured 7 years since then, and so have they. There were admittedly times in between the years where I was too busy with school, too tired, just too caught up with life, to even pay much attention to them. But never once did I take their existence for granted. I had full faith (or maybe just too much hope) that they would always be there for as long as they could.
During the summer of this year, I began creating an “Infinite Appreciation Post”, which I never exactly got around to finishing due to various reasons (procrastination being the biggest one). Here is the rough draft that I had composed:
After much procrastination, I’ve finally sat down and decided to create this! My journey with Infinite literally grew alongside with my Korean music roots way back in the day. With the passing of their 7th anniversary, and their unfortunately prolonged contract discussion, I found the need to make this post hurriedly. Without further ado…
 THIS IS INFINITE
Adorkable
If you’ve watched Infinite enough on variety shows and other things, you would know that these boys are absolute goofballs. Honestly there are so many memorable moments that have made me laugh/cry, but they’re mostly from their earlier days because, yes, I admit, it was extremely hard to keep up these past 2-ish years with school & such.
A few (of MANY) favorite moments:
I’m not a monkey, but i love     banana
Jjik-jjik boy
Name all the members in     5-sec(?)
“L L L L L L !!” “.......why is     the answer L?”
INFINITE H’s Milk song
Gwiyomi Song Sungyeol Ver.
GAE SHAMPOO
Just Dongwoo laughing
Infinite watching fetus     INFINITE videos
Hoya’s eleupantery skool
   Discography
I admit that Kpop is not really my preference anymore, but when it was, Infinite’s music blew me away. Their sound back in the day was distinct, almost a sort of 80’s style twist, with consistent synths, well-structured progression, and vocals that gave a strong impact. Their songs were, and still are, nothing short of catchy. My all-time favorite Infinite song will most probably be Shot. There is not one second in that song that doesn’t sound like absolute perfection. I think it is safe to say that as of mid-2014, probably starting with Back (or maybe if we go even farther, say Destiny era??), Infinite’s tracks have transformed into mixtures of EDM and orchestral bravados(?). If anything, it is quite unconventional, quite bold, but nonetheless still  Infinite-esque, and of course, catchy.
A few (of many) honorable mentions in no particular order:
Can U Smile (Acoustic Ver.)
The Chaser
Molla
I Like You
Feel So Bad
Rosinante
Sonagi
Last Romeo
Still I Miss You
ZERO
Air
3분의1
Request
Missing You
Inception
Paradise
Hysterie
Wings
Entrust
Infinite’s (Korean) discography is probably one of the only Kpop boy band discographies that I know like the back of my hand. They have created real masterpieces.
 Performances
Infinite’s stage presence is… indescribable. Just watch for yourself. These boys know what they’re doing, and they know that they’re good at it. Whether it be intense dance routines, emotional ballad renditions, or simply a stellar title song performance, Infinite will really, truly, never fail to captivate the audience (which I have been blessed to be a part of twice back in 2013 & 2014). Also, I’d like to give special recognition to  their Immortal Songs Performances because those are on a whole other level. I always wonder, idols, or genuine artists??? Or BOTH?
A few (of many) legendary performances:
Please Don’t by K.Will ft.     INFINITE H
60 Seconds by INFINITE

Who doesn’t love to ship a few beautiful bromances now and then? Honestly, I feel like these boys are so close that they can probably pull off an OTP with each and every member. BUT, here are some of legendary ones:
Woogyu
Myungyeol
Yadong
Myungjong
Woosoo
2Woo
Hoyeol
Gyujong
Little did I know that a month and a half later, my world would fall apart. The key point I am trying to get at here is that, with all my heart’s devotion, with an undying burn, I supported Infinite even as the years trickled by. I missed them, cherished them, waited for them, believed in them, and thanked them. Thanked them thousands and thousands of times in my head. I knew how much it meant for a 2nd generation kpop group like them to still be alive & whole since debut, and I was so eternally thankful for that.
I say this all the time, but I never in the slightest expected a member to leave. Not after everything they’ve been through and everything they’ve said. But knowing their personalities and their “brotherhood”, I think it’s safe to say that we all assumed they separated on more or less good terms. Especially since this decision took 3 months to come to, they probably all discussed this extensively and came to an agreement, right…?
And now, the members have explicitly shown a somewhat bold reaction by unfollowing Hoya & deleting pictures of him and the group as whole from their Instagram.

I’ll say this blatantly: I get that Hoya is no longer a part of Infinite or has any association with them, but you cannot delete photos of him and the entire group as if the past seven years never happened.
I don’t know why or who (if anyone specific) was behind this, and I don’t think anyone will ever really know. Whether the members were forced to do this, and if they, in fact, still talk to Hoya on personal terms, we will never know.
However, I don’t think cutting public ties like that fixes anything. It just made me feel even more conflicted.
The faith that I had in Infinite was overwhelming. Pardon my excessiveness, but no matter how petty or immature I sound, I want to make it clear that, yes, I fell right into their “We’ll last forever together” trap. Because why wouldn’t I? Is it me being naïve or is the world just being cruel? I think it’s the latter.
The first major emotion I feel is sadness. Pure depression. I wish every single day that all of this was just a bad nightmare. That all of this was just a big accident and that Hoya will return one day. I wish with all my heart that all seven of them are still together. That’s all I want. Together. All 7. Not 6. 7 is everything, everything is 7. But I know that will never happen, and that makes me indescribably sad.
Next, I feel like I’ve been tricked. I feel like I’ve blindly believed in the lies of boys that kept promises they couldn’t keep. I should’ve seen this coming, considering the trends of all the 2nd gen. kpop groups these days. But at the same time, no, I had way too much faith in them. I told myself they’d never end up like the rest of them. That Infinite was different. But they weren’t. They weren’t, and aren’t, different in the slightest.  I feel almost stupid, for putting so much faith into them. Why did I invest so much hope into their future? Was it even necessary? Why did I fall in so deep, when I was bound to get cut anyway? On the other hand, a perfectly reasonable answer: because I am their fan.
Lastly, I feel conflicted. I’m wavering between the urge to scream and cry, or maybe do both?? WHY? Just why? Why did this have to happen to my ultimate group? Why did I have to watch the world fall apart on August 29th, 2017? All I really know is that I miss Infinite. I miss all of them, and even though I kept repeating that phrase throughout the summer while they were taking ages to renew their contracts, little did I know that I would be saying it for the rest of eternity now.
In all honesty, I actually had a fleeting moment of thought in which I almost wanted to give up on them altogether. Not just Hoya, but Infinite, too, just all of them. I wanted to drop this Inspirit gig and completely convert to following singer-songwriters and real musicians like I basically already do. Infinite was my last kpop straw. I never ever, ever, thought I would ever think like that. I almost began to fear myself, because how could I think to throw away everything so quickly, over Instagram followings???
In conclusion, I am clearly still not really okay. It’s been a little over a month since Hoya left, but my world is still tipped upside down. I’m still really lost, I still really miss Infinite, and I just…. I’m still really traumatized.
But I’m sure, just like anything and anyone else, I will get over this with time. Time will fade the lines between anger and sadness and I’ll think of this event as just a bad day. Or at least I hope. I’ll get through this. And if you’re in the same boat as me, don’t worry, you will, too! And if you thought I was just plain crazy throughout this entire rant and just judged me the entire way through, it’s okay! Think what you want, but all that really tells me is that you’re not a true fan anyway :’). True fans can’t pick up their heads and smile and tell the rest of the world to get over it that fast. So please, let my lamenting self be. It’ll be okay, one day.

Integrative analysis of long noncoding #RNA and #mRNA reveals candidate l#ncRNAs responsible for meat quality at different physiological stages in Gushi chicken
by Donghua Li, Fang Li, Keren Jiang, Meng Zhang, Ruili Han, Ruirui Jiang, Zhuanjian Li, Yadong Tian, Fengbin Yan, Xiangtao Kang, Guirong Sun Long noncoding #RNAs (l#ncRNAs) play important roles in transcriptional and posttranscriptional regulation. However, the effects of l#ncRNAs on the meat quality of chicken hasn’t been elucidated clearly yet. Gushi chickens are popular in China because of their superior meat quality, particularly the tender flesh, and unique flavor. Gushi chickens are popular in China because of their superior meat quality, delicate flesh, and unique flavor. We performed #RNA-Seq analysis of breast muscle from Gushi chicken at two physiological stages, including juvenile (G20W) and laying (G55W). In total, 186 l#ncRNAs and 881 #mRNAs were differentially expressed between G20W and G55W (fold change ≥ 2.0, P < 0.05). Among them, 131 l#ncRNAs presented upregulated and 55 were downregulated. We identified the cis and trans target genes of the differentially expressed l#ncRNAs, and constructed l#ncRNA-#mRNA interaction networks. The results showed that differentially expressed #mRNAs and l#ncRNAs were mainly involved in ECM-receptor interaction, glycerophospholipid metabolism, ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis, and the biosynthesis of amino acids. In summary, our study utilized #RNA-seq analysis to predict the functions of l#ncRNA on chicken meat quality. Furthermore, comprehensive analysis identified l#ncRNAs and their target genes, which may contribute to a better understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying in poultry meat quality and provide a theoretical basis for further research. http://bit.ly/2WXJYbK

No ink required: paper can be printed with light
In an effort to curb the adverse environmental impacts of paper production, researchers in a new study have developed a light-printable paper—paper that can be printed with UV light, erased by heating to 120 °C (250 °F), and rewritten more than 80 times. The secret to printing with light lies in the color-changing chemistry of nanoparticles, a thin coating of which can be easily applied to conventional paper to transform it into the light-printable version.
The researchers, Wenshou Wang and coauthors at Shandong University in China; the University of California, Riverside; and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, have published a paper on the light-printable rewritable paper in a recent issue of Nano Letters.
"The greatest significance of our work is the development of a new class of solid-state photoreversible color-switching system to produce an ink-free light-printable rewritable paper that has the same feel and appearance as conventional paper, but can be printed and erased repeatedly without the need for additional ink," Yadong Yin, Chemistry Professor at the University of California, Riverside, told Phys.org. "Our work is believed to have enormous economic and environmental merits to modern society."
