Protagonist, Heroes and Superheroes: Who are my Favourites?
Hello wandering traveller! I'm back again to yap; this time about SOME of my favourite protagonists. This feels strange to me as I gravitate towards liking villains and anti-heroes more that the good guys haha.
The Hobbit:
I don't need to say anything for this one.
He's my adopted grandpa in my delulu mind. I honestly think I have a soft spot (NOT IN A ROMNTIC WAY) for him.
Honestly, for a good two years I was a Fili over Kili typa gal, but lately my brain chemistry altered and now I have a growing love for Kili. I do think he is still a bit cocky for my liking - but love is blind so I will ignore it haha.
Lord of the Rings:
This is also part of the Hobbit section as well, but Gandalf the Grey is a wee tinker isn't he? Also, Gandalf the Grey over Gandalf the White any day of the week - I think he got too serious (even though he got upgraded to the highest wizard which does make sense but still).
I don't need to say anything for this part 2.
I tried to find a memeable/funny image for Arwen, but she's just inhumanly beautiful in every picture haha. Hot take, I definitely prefer Peter Jackson's adaptation of Arwen than the original as she has more of a story rather than be mentioned a couple of times throughout the trilogy.
The Witcher:
It's Henry Cavill. What more? I think even though he is more (or tries to be) neutral as a Witcher is conditioned to be, I'm adding him on the good side. He also does a lot of heroic acts which would deem him being a sort of hero.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, he is my favourite character in the Witcher series by a long shot! If there is anything I remember from the books, it would be him talking about his drinking (blood as he is a higher vampire) problem which caused his misses to leave him and ruin his life. It is more funny when you read it for the first time as you never expected that from a vampire.
Marvel:
This one is really hard cause I like quite a lot of the characters so I might have to do a part 2 for this one.
It would be a sin if I didn't put this image in. So, Blade has been my favourite marvel character, and my favourite character in general since I was a wee one. I remember watching Blade II when I was 6 (at an age where I really shouldn't have been watching it), and it was the only thing that calmed me down after I almost chopped my thumb off. That is another story to tell - one of my lore drops.
Another character who I've loved since I was still in nappies. I thought, and still think that he is one of the coolest characters in any comic book and film adaptations.
"He's the best guy arouuuuund" "What about the people he murdered?" "What muuurrrdddeerrrr?" I'm putting him here cause I want to; Bucky started out good and ended up good in the end. I will defend this guy at all costs!
Star Wars:
TBH despite liking all of the characters in Star Wars, Princess Leia is one of the few protagonists that I really like. I do remember when I was a kid trying to copy her hair styles and outfit haha. She's an icon, she's a legend and she is the moment.
Another fashion icon (haha jks). C-3PO is my spirit animal.
Foundation:
I honestly am inspired by her to get better at math (even though I left school 5 years ago) as she is insanely skilled at mathematics. She seems like one of a few in the series that is not insane in some shape or form.
Harry Potter:
Give him to me now please. Also another character I don't need to explain why he's one of my favourites.
He's just a walking teddy bear with a heart of gold. Also, get this man a baby dragon.
That's all for today's post! What are you favourite protagonists?

Does Anyone Else Experience This?
Hello wandering traveller! Today I want to share an experience I have been having frequently when it comes to reading, which I feel kinda embarrassed about. As I mentioned in a post way back when, I got genuinely sad after finishing the Hobbit. Yes, the fact that 3 of my favourite characters died did not help, but I was also sad that I was saying 'good bye' to the rest of the characters. In fact, leaving Middle-Earth to return back to reality makes me feel low - not depressed as such, but I just feel empty and lost for a day or two.
I've started to notice this pattern with other books I read, and I've just put it down to being very emotionally invested in the characters and the fictional world I get transported to while reading. A form of escapism you could say.
However, I thought this would only apply to fiction books.
I was wrong.
Yesterday I finished reading a book on the history of pirates (very interesting btw) and I experienced the exact same thing! I don't think I could have been as emotionally invested as there wasn't a set of consistent characters throughout (I do romanticise pirates even though I shouldn't hehe), and I found it more difficult to read as it is a very factual-heavy book. Yet I was still sad after I finished. And I can't find an explanation good enough other than escapism. Is there another explanation for this?

What my OC (Original Character) Would be in the Robin Hood TV Series (BBC)
Hello dwarflings and wandering travellers, let's get into what the title suggests then, don't we? ME OR HUMAN VARIANT OF ME CLIPPING BACK INTO TIME IS FORBIDDEN!!!!! Enjoy :)
Eyes: green-grey
Hair: short black hair that can be tied up if she wishes.
Age: 22
A ranger, and rogue, who ran away from home to escape an arranged marriage. She travelled up north where she's been hiding out in Sherwood forest. While Robin and his merry men are sleeping she tries to steal their provisions but gets caught. As a rogue, her reflexes are uncanny so she is able to take down the whole group. Seeing this, Robin persuades her to join the group for her skills, and also to prevent her from stealing anyone else's provisions. Normally, she wears male clothing and has short hair to hide her identity, which proves useful as she can tie her hair up and wear dresses to enter Nottingham without Gisborne or the Sheriff realising she is the 'new man' from Robin's merry men.

What my OC (Original Character) Would be in The Witcher
Hello dwarflings and wandering travellers, let's get into what the title suggests then, don't we? Again with the pervious post like this, any concept of myself of a variant of my in this world no clipping into the Continent is FORBIDDEN! Enjoy :)
Name: Evelyn One-eye
Age: 88
Eyes: Well...just the one that is haha (it will be a mauve). The other eye was damaged while fighting a large group of ghouls. An eyepatch with dwarven incantations are carved into it.
Hair: Chin length bob, silver with streaks of light pink
Stature: appears to look like an average human woman
Race: Higher Vampire
Weapons: short swords, teeth, throwing axes
OC was found as a toddler, almost frozen to death, near Kaer Morhen. One of the few Witchers left at the fort came across her as he was travelling back for the winter. Vesemir raised her as his daughter, and the Witchers were like older brothers/cool uncles to her. As she is a higher vampire, Witcher medallions cannot detect her magic. And as she looks like a human, the true identity is unknown to the Witcher. She grew up in both Kaer Morhen and with Nenneke, and to Nenneke's disproval OC decided to pursue a Witcher career. She usually travels with Yarpen Zigerin, and when Ciri is brought to Kaer Morhen, OC is a massive aspiration for Ciri to be a Female Witcher.

What my OC (Original Character) Would be in the Hobbit
note: part 2 of my comfort character analysis will be up either next week or the week after :)
Hello dwarflings and wandering travellers, let's get into what the title suggests then, don't we? I have many, MANY, versions of my OC in the Hobbit events (this what happens when you daydream too much haha), so I will summarise my top 3 they are. This excludes the concept of me or a human alternative of me in this world no clipping into Middle-Earth. Also, all of these characters will have the same name, just variants of each other (like in Loki). Enjoy :)
Name: Elenora or Elli. With the Dwarrow OCs she is nicknamed Tith (meaning little) by everyone.
3rd Place: Half Dwarrow, Half Human
Eyes: dark blue
Hair: long, wavy, dark brown almost black with strains of blonde at the front
Stature: height of a taller dwarrow (around 4'9-10") with the average human figure (not too slim but not stocky like a dwarrow)
Age: 56
I can picture this OC arriving into a tavern (most likely the prancing pony) after coming back from the Blue mountains in search of her father who she has never met before. She comes across the company in the tavern, surprised that a female Dwarrow has been spotted in the wild, and even rarer a half Dwarrow. She says she is looking for her father of Ereborian decent, who is residing in either the Blue mountains or the Iron Hills. With no luck in the blue mountains, and to Thorin's distain, she joins the group as Erebor in the same way as the Iron Hills. Little does she know that her father is in the company, as unaware of their relation as her. (I know who it is but don't want to spoil it hehe).
2nd Place: Half Dwarrow, Half Elf
Eyes: silver
Hair: long like an elf but thickness of a dwarrow; mousy brown/dirty blonde
Stature: around 5'1" so she appears more like a short human, but looks off as she has elven and dwarven attributes.
Age: 550-570
Her parents were murdered for being in a forbidden relationship. Along with OC's baby brother they were murdered by a group of elven and dwarven rebels who couldn't accept the fact they were in love and had 'contaminated' their blood by having kids. OC escaped and came across Radagast's hut to hide in. She then raised by him and occasionally Gandalf as well before becoming a orc/goblin/troll hunter and ranger. She is then asked by Gandalf to join the company as a guide (and protector). Unbeknownst to the company, a legendary dwarven folklore about an elf, a Dwarrow, and a missing child is actually the OC.
1st Place: Dragon Tainted Ranger
Eyes: one red, one yellow
Hair: short, wavy, black and red (like Karlach with a bob)
Stature: average human height who has a lean and athletic build.
Age: unknown but appears to look in their early 20s
Gandalf the gatekeep has been hiding and training who is quite possibly the last of the dragon tainted bloodline in Middle Earth. She is known as his 'apprentice' who is trained in heat and fire manipulation. She is added to the company, who some of them (I'm looking at you Thorin) are highly vocal with their disapproval. Gandalf tells them that she is the only one who can kill Smaug with her magic abilities - just leaving out the fact that she is quite possibly a distant cousin to Smaug.

Character Study of Baldur's Gate 3 Characters - Minthara.
Hello dwarflings and wandering travellers! In today's Monday's post I wanted to show you my character study of Minthara before and after I painted it. Character studies are usually quick and rough ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), hence the name study instead of the final thing. I tried to use my watercolour pencils for this as I only use them for my witcher drawings, and wanted to expand my skill in what I can do with them. Enjoy :)

I THINK I HAVE A NEW FICTION CRUSH HELP!
I need to stop falling in love with fiction men; its becoming an issue for real. In fact, he's not even a man! Who is this divine being I have fallen in love with you may ask, wandering traveller. A clue? Let's just say my love for him exceeds the limit between a nice summer’s day and the full, concentrated power of the sun. Still don't know? This guy:
His wit. His charm. His sass. His cute ass nose. His hair. I now want to start playing BG3 because of the videos I have seen about him haha. The only problem is that I am absolutely CRAP at playing video games (unless it is minecraft in creative mode haha).

Who Are My Comfort Characters? A Comfort Character Analysis
Hello dwarflings (and wandering travellers)! I came across a really interesting article about comfort characters, and the importance of them to people by Jared DeLaTorre on Medium.com. I will reference the link at the end of this post, same with another article explaining the term 'Ludo narrative harmony' that was in DeLaTorre's article. This has lead be to do a casual research report on it, and talk about my own comfort characters as well. Enjoy :)
One of the first thing DeLaTorre begins with is defining the term concept of a comfort character; 'A character... from a TV show, game, book etc makes you feel safe and happy when upset, down etc'. He also speaks of the misinterpretation and misuse of the concept to shallowly sexualise characters if they are deemed attractive. I would like to add something I thought of while reading this section (feel free to disagree) but there is also a confusion, to an extent, between favourite and comfort characters. Yes, your comfort character may be your favourite character, but there is a blurred separation between the two. This is shown with my own favourite/comfort characters in the Venn diagram below.
To give a further explanation: my favourite character in the whole wide world is Tom Hiddleston's Loki, who I love so much, but he is by far a comfort character for me. Then there are characters that are both my favs and my comforts e.g. Svik from the Bloodsworn saga. He is my favourite character in the books, but as he is a comic relief character (who loves cheese which is a bonus) I find a form of safety within his humour. Then there are characters that I like, but not my favourites, who are my comfort characters, one being Faramir from LOTR. This leads me onto the next section of DeLaTorre's article; why does someone have a comfort character?
DeLaTorre gives his own possible reasons as to why, some being the evident feeling grounded/somewhat stable when their reality is going to shit. Other possible reasons are the reader/viewer finds solace in a fictional character as they relate to them, or the character empowers the individual to become like them/better themselves. Obviously, not all comfort characters fit in one box, but overlap into another. I tried with another Venn diagram to visually convey this with my comfort characters.
This was quite hard to think about as even though I know these are my comfort characters, I did not know why exactly. Doing this diagram came useful as it highlighted the main reason I form a bond with a character - they give me a sense of stability and distraction from my day-to-day life. Interestingly, I did not think that Eowyn would be in all the categories. I think this could be a I relate to her being a woman who it always trying her best to prove herself worthy, which in tern empowers me to not stop being myself and to be defiant to societal expectations. I have stability with her as if I was in Middle-Earth, she would be one of my best friends definitely.
Thank you for reading part one of this casual research essay on comfort characters. Feel free to comment your comfort characters, I would love to know who they are (and might open up more shows/books/movies for me).
Love you all,
Tith Namath X

Something I Am (re)Starting On
Hello dwarflings AND wandering travellers! I thought for today's post that I'd show you something I have been working on and off for the last year or so.
I started doing a lot of world building for this story I began writing last year. However, me being me and me being an amateur writer, I've stopped at 30,000 words. Apparently this is really common for beginner writers, but I'm as as stubborn as a dwarf so I'm refusing to give up on the story haha. Instead, I'm putting it on hold as I want it to be written fully after this new story idea I've got. So it will connect to what I'm doing now, and will come back to it! It will be something like the star wars prequals and HOTD (film/TV wise) being released after media that chronologically happened after those events.
I don't want to spoil it too much (as much as I am willing to as I will yap too much for my own good haha). But all I will say is for the story I'm planning on for the time being will be in a similar structure to the first two Witcher books. A collection of short stories that are connected together to create a full-length novel. And also like Andrzej Sapkowski, I want to have fables and fairy tales to influence my stories/reinvent them by having my own twist to it. I went for Portuguese fables as they're very interesting/weird and not many people know them. Also because I'm half Portuguese haha.
I think that I all I'm going to say as I will end up spoiling EVERYTHING which I don't want. It would be a dream to get this published honestly, but for now I want to focus getting the first draft done (even if it's shit XD). I know this will take a few years for me as I'm so busy, I will be able to only write a little bit per week. But I'm positive about this journey!
Love you all,
Tith Namath X

The Design for the Current Project I’m Working On.
Hello dwarflings (and wandering travellers)! I just wanted to show you a quick croquis for a fashion project I’m working on right now as an amateur seamstress. I’ve completed the shirt (yay) which I am super proud of as it’s the first time making a top. I’ve also done the skirt which I will show you all in time, which was surprisingly easy to make than what I thought. All there is to do now is the most difficult bit which is the waistcoat 😭. I’m having to mentally prepare myself for this one haha.
love you all,
