Biography

James grew up in New Gotham his entire life. He lived mostly comfortably but always wished to experience adventure and had a deep longing for friendship and love. When he first acquired his metahuman powers at the age of 20 during an attack on GCU by the Joker, he decided to fight crime once he returned home to Gotham City proper.

It took around a week once he had returned for Batman to approach him and told him to give up crime fighting. James responded by refusing to do so.

Eventually Bruce relented after Barbara Gordon reminded him of when Stephanie Brown “died”. Bruce did not reveal his identity but did give James free rein over the New Gotham Batcave as well as gifting James his own suit which James would slowly iterate on.

During an event where a monster summoner used magic to steal items, Azrael and James became quick friends and they parted after the incident as brothers in arms. This event also ended with James becoming fully welcomed into the Batfamily and becoming aware of their identities.

Shortly after, James, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown became romantically entangled.

James was partially responsible for the continued hostility between the Batfamily and GCPD after Commissioner Gordon left the position, frequently siding with civilians against police brutality and aggression. This made him a somewhat politically charged figure but also made him beloved by Gotham City leftists who he regularly stood up for during protests. James was also responsible for spawning the Peacekeeper Program where the GCPD, under Ellen Yindel, purchased elite mechanized exoskeletons designed to take down supervillains and vigilantes alike.

Powers

Enhanced Biology: James has enhanced speed and strength but not to an incredible degree. His strength is on par with an Olympian and his speed is only moderately better than one as well.

Inhuman Reflexes: Something about James' biology allows him almost immediate reaction time. This allows him to dodge bullets despite only being moderately faster than peak human ability.

Enhanced Senses: James has enhanced senses that allow him a much greater appraisal of the world at all times. This includes wolf-like scent tracking, extremely accurate taste buds, extremely detailed texture analysis through touch, and extremely good hearing. This does not extend to his eyesight and he requires glasses to see with clarity.

Regenerative Ability: James' regenerative abilities allow him to heal injuries that would take months or years to heal for anyone else in days; however, the quality of the healing is only moderately better than human average. James cannot regenerate wounds fast enough to heal from normally lethal hits.

Inhuman Stomach: James' body is able to endure a wild assortment of diseases and poisons from eating raw meat just like a wolf's does. He doesn't use this ability often but it can come in handy when in survivalist situations.

Abilities

Acrobatics: James is an extremely skilled acrobat but not to the same degree as Dick Grayson or Stephanie Brown.

Investigation: James' enhanced senses allow him a greater access to information at crime scenes but he has admitted he struggles with logical thinking and this has been disadvantageous when taking on cases.

Martial Arts: Having trained under Bruce Wayne and, later, Cassandra Cain, he has an extremely powerful mastery of martial arts but prefers to use two handed sword stances whenever possible, using his Stun Blade or similarly blunt and long objects such as bats and metal piping when without access to his Stun Blade.

Miniature Painting: James has picked up painting miniatures relatively recently but still expresses skill at it; however, he has admitted he doesn't really care about being extremely precise and prefers miniature painting for the customization of the figures that it allows him.

Stealth: James has only recently picked up his stealth skills and is relatively loud compared to other members of the Batfamily, only making up for it because of his natural stealthy ability due to his metahuman biology.

Paraphernalia

Fenrir Suit: The Fenrir Suit itself is a complex suit of light armor designed for maximum maneuverability at the cost of minimum protection. Due to his metahuman speed allowing him to dodge bullets, the suit's plating primarily defends against blades and electric weapons, as it is completely insulated from the outside. The suit is also equipped with a mechanical facemask that can be manually set for air purification or water filtration in emergencies as well as storing a small amount of air for extended underwater activity. The suit also includes a cloak and hood which is made up of a mostly bulletproof weave but, due to its flowing and elastic nature, the wearer still feels intense pain from bullets. The cloak and hood are less effective against blades and will easily tear if tested against a sharp weapon. The suit is also equipped with automatically adjusting lenses so that he does not have to wear glasses while fighting crime as well as volume handlers to protect his hearing from damage due to loud noises.

Grappling Hook: Fenrir, as a member of the Batfamily, has a grappling hook. These are both magnetic, mechanical, and suction based for maximum security in their connection to surfaces.

Stun Blade: The Stun Blade is a blunt weapon designed to resemble a Longsword with a hilt-like structure at one end made up of a crossguard, a grip slimmer than the rest of the staff wrapped in tape for firmer grip during combat, and a small ball at the base of the grip. The entire device with the exception of the grip (but not with the exception of the ball at its base) is designed to deliver a taser-like electric shock to disable targets hit with it. It also has a retractable sharp point at its tip which is activated by a button near the grip that is used mostly for embedding the Stun Blade into concrete or brick. Fenrir has commonly also used the weapon as a throwing weapon over short distances to pin enemies to walls or destroy dangerous devices, which is the primary use of the retractable sharp point.

Hand Crossbow: Fenrir has a hand crossbow outfitted with rubber bolts for stunning or incapacitating enemies.

Frost Bolts: Fenrir has small, throwable freezing canisters that can be used to stun or trap enemies. They can also be shot using his Hand Crossbow.

If they are, I imagine they think he's just THAT good in the sheets with how much he and reader bone. It might hurt their ego, but they won’t have to face the fact that they are fun and he is more.

... you don't have to answer this but does cv reader ever thought of boning Thalia? It would be weird because of Damian, but that is Thalia al Ghul! For fucks sake she is so cool!

I think for the favorite part, Reader keeps somewhat of a veneer in terms of it. Like yeah they hang out the most with Red Hood but it’s totally because they’re just making up for lost time and not because they have an aching need to be with him and protect him. Like totally not because of that. (/s)

The ironic part is as per my fave headcannon of Jason, he would be the least knowledgeable despite his fuckboy aura.

And thought about boning Talia? My guy if Selina wasnt the first Catwoman, they would have already boned to hell and back.

At first it was just mindless sex for the sake of releasing stress. A little reward for when you started displaying some signs of sanity after you loss. But often times, like many of your villain buddies, you’d drop by their respective lairs and make a little love.

Which brings me to the next point,

I feel like villains may or may not heavily target Red Hood due to him stealing you away from them.

Really, the boys don’t have to do much. They just have to get a little petty by dropping Jason’s location once in a while whenever they think you two have been getting a little too close lately.

There is one villain that got a little too mad that you weren’t giving him the attention he wanted nay needed from his feline counterpart —

What food "atrocities" would your faves get up to?

For example my brain went straight to: Yamamoto is the type to put ketchup on Pasta and get instantly banned from the entire country of italy.

These do not have to be only italian crimes. As a german for example I feel my toes curl outwards when I hear of "sweet Pretzles", and i know for a fact that sticking your chopsticks into rice is not just rude, but a straight up taboo in japan.

So I wondered if you could think of anything. Doesnt have to be KHR related.

You are right! This is definitely a fun idea to think about! I’m sorry it took so long to get the reply out to you, but thanks so much for the request and for allowing me such freedom within it. Also, totally not feeling called out by the ketchup on pasta comment. Totally not…for what it’s worth though, a bag of pasta and a large bottle of ketchup costs about $10 where I live, so it’s cheap and does a lot of meals, which is good for when you’re a broke bitch but still want to live. I hope you’ll enjoy some of the thoughts I have on each of my current favourites or focuses from a variety of my fandoms!

From KHR, two words – blue steak. Because it’s certainly one of Bel’s favourites. His steak? Yeah, he wants it to have just been mooing like, two seconds ago. He wants the steak and the pan it was cooked in to have had just the barest, briefest hint of a romance. They barely kissed, in other words. The level he eats it at isn’t just rare, but even below rare, and it sometimes kind of grosses other people out. Of course, Bel being Bel, he kind of delights in this fact and it makes him even more enamored of this particular ‘food crime’.

From K Project, I think Fujishima eats Kit-Kats without ever breaking any of the bars. He just unwraps the top part of the Kit-Kat bar and takes a big bite out of it.

From Servamp, Tsurugi eats with his hands a lot of the time. Unless it’s absolutely inconceivably to eat something with just his hands, like hot soup, he’s probably eaten a dish using solely his hands before. He does know utensils exist and he’ll use them, only sometimes when it’s a more casual setting, or most of the time when he’s in a public setting, he just vastly prefers eating with his hands.

From Iruma-kun, Sabnock has eaten hard-boiled and soft-boiled egg with the shell on. More than once. He doesn’t even really see much a difference in eating it whole or peeling the shell off besides that there’s more flavour and texture with the shell on.

From Bungou Stray Dogs, when Dazai really feels like pissing people off, or is just extremely lazy, he makes tea completely incorrectly. He’ll just pop a teabag in a cup, run the tap water until it gets really, really hot, and fill the cup and ta-da, tea. He makes sure to let everyone around him know how delicious it is while he drinks it. He also reuses teabags…just never for his own cup of tea.

Rock from Nanbaka definitely puts ketchup on his eggs. He also kind of really digs French fries dipped into ranch dressing.

Togano from Eyeshield 21 is just kind of really guilty of forgetting to season any food he cooks. Despite what people think, he can cook more than just cup noodles, but all of his cooking is pretty unsatisfying and bland, though he doesn’t really understand why, which is why he eats prepackaged foods or takeout so often.

From The Vampire Dies In No Time, Satetsu really likes mayo. He’ll eat just mayo sandwiches – just bread and mayo. He also enjoys it on rice, but he only indulges that guilty pleasure when he’s alone.

Charles Bernard from Jujutsu Kaisen scrapes off the frosting from Oreos and throws it away because he thinks it tastes gross. He then just eats the chocolate parts of the cookies, but instead of chewing them, he kind of just lets them slowly dissolve in his mouth.

In another Oreo related crime, Fenrir Godspeed from IkeRev would eat Oreos with honey mustard unashamedly.

More info: Loki is a wolfwalker, who prefers to spend hir time in the forest with other woodland creatures, not much fond of the affairs of humans. Vae is naturally timid and hesitant towards others, and pushes against authority and following rules. Being told what to do unless it's absolutely necessary is one of its biggest pet peeves. 

Vae likes folk music and fairytales, stories of mythological creatures and natural events. If you want to become woods friend, be sure to give hir snacks and tell him stories that interest wild.

This is probably no news to you but I’d appreciate it if someone did it for me when I’m doing research but I’m (as a matter of fact) doing some research of my own to writing and currently rereading HBP and there’s a lot of stuff on werewolves and the Weasleys of course and I’m sure you used it but one thing that I came across that I hadn’t noticed before and that, though YOU probably did since you already love meta too and Ginny is a fave for you, but when Harry tells everyone in the room about dumbledore’s death, madam pomfrey starts crying loudly but it’s Ginny who shushes her not for rudeness but to make everyone listen as she was the first to notice fawkes’ lament.

So just throwing that out there assuming u remember, but because phoenix didn’t necessarily came up just yet I thought it was a good Ginny likes beasts moments.

hello, my love! sorry to keep you waiting, i wanted to get some good info to work with for you! and yes, both you and @marisferasiop asked for tyr/ezra at the same time so i had to figure something out, and wanted both of you to have a chance to write something! so adi was cool enough to let me give her the matchup of fenrir/santiago.

make sure to read the tyr summary for a sort of "sister" story or "mirrored" part to fenrir. tyr is a really important part of fenrir imo.

Son of Loki and Angrboda. Name translates to “He Who Dwells in the Marshes”. The most famous of the wolves in Norse Mythology.

There are many stories that include Fenrir, but probably the most famous is “The Binding of Fenrir”, where the Aesir gods raised him in order to keep him under their control and prevent him from wreaking havoc on the Nine Realms. Tyr was the only one brave enough to approach him and feed him from day to day. There’s an understanding between the two. He grew at an incredible fast rate, which worried the gods, so they attempted to chain him up. Their first couple of attempts were unsuccessful, since he broke through them easily. Eventually, they enlisted the help of the dwarves, who forged magical shackles that couldn’t be broken. They had the appearance of being very light and soft to the touch so as not to throw Fenrir off. When the gods approached him with these, he was of course suspicious, and refused to be bound unless one of the gods would stick their hand in his mouth as a pledge of good faith. Tyr was the only one to do so, given their prior trust of one another, resulting in him losing that hand when Fenrir couldn’t break free. The chains were then tied to a boulder and a sword was placed in Fenrir’s jaws to hold them open. He howled ceaselessly which resulted in a foamy river called Ván (“Expectation”) to flow from his drooling mouth.

As the name implies, there will be a time when Fenrir breaks free and causes Ragnarok, ie the end of the Nine Realms. He does this by swallowing the sun (the goddess Sol), killing Odin (as is fated), and chaos follows. He’s killed by Vidar, son of Odin, by ripping open his mouth and decapitating him at the jaw.

Much of this story (and Ragnarok by association) is heavily Christian influenced, however. If you want to know more about the influence, I’d look into “The Fettered Devil”.

There’s debate over Fenrir actually being born a wolf. Perhaps he was much like his sister Hel, and chose to take on the form of a wolf instead of being humanoid. If that’s the case, why did he choose that form?

What we do know for sure about Fenrir is that he is very powerful, and very intelligent.

It’s rare, but there are a lot of people that actually work with Fenrir like they would with any of the other gods, despite not being seen as one. It’s very nuanced, but some examples of what he could represent are as follows:

Fenrir is a force to be reckoned with, and could represent those that are being oppressed and take action against their oppressors. There’s thousands of years of people doing this, and it’s even present today. He could be the one to inspire people to take that next step towards self reliance or protecting oneself.

However, Fenrir is still Fenrir and should be given his own space. He won’t submit to anyone. And neither should you.

Wait a sec, fenrir???? As in the wolf from norse mythology? Can you explain a bit more about him and how does he connect to the wolves?

Fenrir is widely seen as the one who gifted the first werewolves with their gift— I won’t truly get into if he’s one and the same when it comes to Norse Mythology, but if you’d like to see him be connected to it you’re more than welcome to do so. (Like Serana, also known as Selene to some people, is widely seen as being the one who gifted the first vampires with their own gifts.)

No one is quite sure if Fenrir truly exists, but there hasn’t been anything to disprove his existence either… And when you’re in a world like the supernatural one it’s very hard to write things off at times.

A lot of famous figures within mythology were actually supernaturals making their presence known within the mortal realm (without actually doing so). Aphrodite, as an example, was a vampire. Medusa was an actual Gorgon. Ra was a Phoenix. (These being some examples.)

any Tyr and fenrir hcs?

YEAHH TYR ONE OF MY FAVE GUYS EVERRRR AND FENRIR THE BEST DOG OUT THEREEEE (sorry cerberus fans)

ok. i feel like you can't talk about Loki's children without talking about the father himself. so let's start there. note: everything i'm about to write is pre-Baldr's death by a LOT.

i don't believe that any specific lore is given regarding Angrboda besides her role as Hel, Jormungandr and Fenrir's mother, so in my invention of events, i hc that Angrboda lived in a camp of giants that, while not overtly hostile, was encroaching on Asgardian territory and Odin, not willing to provoke all out war but not ready to risk being suddenly overrun with giants, sent out his favourite "diplomat" Loki as his eyes and ears in this giant camp to make sure everyone was keeping to themselves.

but Loki's mind works in... mischievous ways. he meets Angrboda in this camp and, obviously, they develop a relationship... a relationship that detains Loki in the camp for much longer than Odin originally sent him out for.

it's pretty known that Loki comes and goes as he pleases, but i think Loki's absence worries Odin and so eventually Odin goes out to this camp himself in the guise of a crow, and he discovers why Loki has been absent for so long; there are three children there, Loki's-- Hel, Jormungandr, and Fenrir.

a war unwittingly breaks out, and i think the Asgardians lay waste to the small camp of the giants, and while i don't think Angrboda is killed, she is badly injured and too weak to put up a fight for her children.

now, i don't think Loki actually truly cares for his children. at least, he's not in the running for Father of the Year. i think he's just a manipulator and schemer, and so he asks Odin to spare the children because they are his own and they're only infants. i think Hel is just a young girl,, maybe 8 or 9 yrs in mortal terms, Jormungandr is slightly younger, and Fenrir is just a pup... a tiny little thing, still wrapped in swaddling like a baby.

so Odin relents, and he brings them back with him to Asgard. Odin has some prophetic abilities, but not clear or detailed... i think he glimpses the destruction that the children can cause and so he elects to divide the children from each other and allocates them to be certain gods' responsibilities... i won't go into details about this since you only asked for Fenrir and Tyr, but naturally, Odin asks Tyr to watch over Fenrir.

i hc Fenrir to be the youngest of Loki's monster brood. he has no recollection of his mother, no relation with his father, and though his siblings have always been "siblings" in every sense of the term, while he was with Tyr, i think he didn't remember much of Jormungandr or Hel.. these relationships only developed properly after Tyr's "betrayal".

this is important to me because i think it establishes that Tyr really was Fenrir's only family. despite Tyr, like many other Asgardians, not really liking Loki, i do not think he grudged Fenrir.

Odin did not intend for their relationship to be sweet or friendly or familial, but Tyr does not raise Tyr with contempt. he treats him with respect and kindness. they become equals.

i'm not quite sure how to categorise Tyr and Fenrir's relationship-- Fenrir wasn't Tyr's pet. nor was he really a son or a brother. he simply came to be a friend. like a best friend. someone you could count on no matter what.

i think Fenrir, while he was still "reasonably sized" would have accompanied Tyr in battles. they would fight back to back.

i also have a hc of Fenrir always finding his way into Tyr's bed, like dogs do... and that was ok while he was a cute little pup, but the bigger Fenrir gets, the less room there is.

Tyr i think, becomes closer to Fenrir than he thought he would be. Fenrir is the only one of his siblings to live in Asgard, since Tyr lives in Asgard, therefore, i think Fenrir would have seen Loki. and i hc that Tyr would get frustrated and protective of Fenrir when Loki would make comments about Fenrir or mock him as having become a "pet".

but, not everyone shares Tyr's sentiments. for many Asgardians, Fenrir is and always will be known as Loki's son. and people don't like Loki.

i hc that Odin has a dream, which of course, he interprets as a revelation-- in it, a giant wolf attacks Asgard.. a premonition of Ragnarok to come. seeing how large Fenrir has grown, Odin decides that Fenrir must be leashed for the protection of everyone.

i think Tyr protests this... he knows that Fenrir has a good soul, and he's actually nothing like Loki. but i think there's a majority vote to use a leash and chain him.

thus, Tyr is forced to participate in the scheme.. only, Tyr believes that the chain will simply hold Fenrir fast... he doesn't know it's really a muzzle, and a chain so short that Fenrir will never be able to move from that spot or open his mouth. this is something only Odin knows, and he keeps this a secret from Tyr because he knows his son will fight it.

so, as the myth goes, Tyr assures Fenrir that he can trust him, that it's only a precaution. i think Fenrir would have been very confused about it all, but he loves and trusts Tyr, so when Tyr gives him his word, he agrees to lay still while they bind him. Tyr even places his arm in Fenrir's mouth as a gesture of trust.

except... the chains are heavier than they thought... and they burn. they singe Fenrir's fur, and in pain and anger, Fenrir closes his mouth on Tyr's arm, and everyone's freaking out because there's blood everywhere and there's a giant wolf wreaking havoc... and Tyr realises Odin's true intentions, but he's wrenched away from the scene far too quickly.

and by the time he's recovered and goes back to see Fenrir, the wolf is long gone... chained up somewhere else, in a dark, lonely cave, far away from Tyr, thinking forever that Tyr knew about the chains and betrayed him.

thus the relationship crumbles into fine dust.

curiously, Fenrir is not the one to kill Tyr in Ragnarok. canonically, it is Hel's wolf, Garmr who kills and is killed by Tyr... but Fenrir does kill Odin. i don't think it contributes anything by swapping these kills around and saying that Fenrir kills Tyr and Garmr kills Odin just to add a little poetic justice... so instead, i think that maybe Hel is the one who delivers justice for her brother and slays Tyr (i do think that Hel genuinely loves her siblings, and fights for them. i think they respect her too and fight on Loki's side during Ragnarok at her say so... but i won't expand on that here hehe). and perhaps, i wonder whether Tyr truly fights back...

i do hc that the guilt of betraying Fenrir is something that weighs deeply on Tyr's conscience, and i don't really think he's the same guy after that. he's darker, and more serious, and he laughs just a little bit less.

and Fenrir's not the same either. hatred and wrath consume him... he is no longer the fun, sweet pup that ran through fields under blue skies, but a cynical, blood-thirsting wolf. he doesn't trust anyone besides Jormungandr and Hel after that.
