Jang Na-ra and Jang Hyuk in Family: The Unbreakable Bond (2023) Ep. 1

The Kwon family in this show has made me detest harabeojis, shotgun marriages and cute kids. Yes, this show has done the impossible and rendered cute Kdrama kids unwatchable. But nothing is more irritating than the Kwon family going about feeling bad for Jang Nara because Jang Hyuk’s boss is that hot lady from Coffee Prince (Chae Jung-an, somehow impossibly hotter than ever) and Jang Hyuk’s boss intends to replace cute Jang Nara who has never done a thing wrong. Consider the evidence, dumdums! 1) She sends Jang Nara business at her slow-going bakery. 2) She gets tickets for harabeoji to go to Qingdao for his 80th birthday, I don’t know why. 3) She offers to employ the pregnant sister in law of Jang Hyuk! 4) She goes to their annoying child’s very annoying kindergarten because Jang Hyuk cannot make it! 5) Jang Nara thinks about her cooking side by side with, you guessed it, HERSELF 6) all fantasies of Chae Jung-an involve Chae Jung-an not cuddling with Jang Hyuk but issuing come-HITHER looks beneath her lashes at JANG NARA!

Conclusion? There’s someone getting replaced here and I guarantee you, it is NOT Jang Nara. Jang Nara has found herself an able and capable WIFE, the likes of which Jang Hyuk can only fantasise about being, if only his fantasies contained anything other than his own beautiful (.)(.) and his abs.

Sonic and Tails.

Sonic is the brokest man on the planet and Tails is loaded for no reason.

I mean, it feels like we already knew they did this, but the fact that Sonic and Tails are constantly making sure the other has eaten, in a subtle way of showing love 🥹

And they "cover each other's blind spots." Where Tails is worrisome, Sonic is confident. Where Sonic is reckless, Tails is careful. There's so many other, smaller ways these brothers take care of each other. 💙💛

I'm such a big fan of messy and undefined relationships between the Sonic cast.

Team Dark being the classic example. Sometimes I'm like a sibling to you but sometimes I'm going to flirt with you and sometimes I hate your fucking guts. We're friends but we're actually a queer platonic about it and sometimes we feel like soulmates and sometimes I'm so ready to move out of this damn apartment. We go weeks without seeing one another but if you're not here tonight I'm going to lose my mind. You know me like no one else currently alive on Earth. You know nothing about me. Come here. Go away.

But also. Dadow. Traveling back in time when you're a teenager to befriend your own father figure. Knowing the same person but in two very different points of time. Knowing someone your entire life but you've only just met. You're friends but you're not equals because you're older or younger except you are except you're not. The immortal and the time traveler. You never know when the last goodbye will be.

And also. Sonic and Tails. You're my brother. You're my brother. You're my brother, except you raise me. I can't remember my real parent's faces. You're the one who tucks me in and chases the nightmares away. We're best friends. I grew up with you. You're twice my age. I'm growing up. You're growing sad at that. Even as you try to hide it. You brag to everyone about me. Aren't brothers supposed to annoy each other? You say I never annoy you. Aren't brothers supposed to fight? We don't. What are we? You don't know. You don't care. . . I don't care either, now that you put it that way. "Brother" really is the best term.

Maybe it’s my own insecurities, but every time I walk into a room he huffs, he makes faces when I talk, he changes direction when we pass in the hallway-- Shadow [scoffs] Tails: …Did you just laugh? Shadow: Yes. Tails: How can you?? Shadow: I am sure you know what I find funny about this situation. Tails: What? Shadow: You have a sibling who, no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can't win over. Tails: What about it? Shadow: That doesn't sound familiar?
