And what if the last memory that he fights to keep is one of baby blue eyes? Just shining and glowing and piercing through his heart and soul deep enough to leave a mark so big not even the cyber corruption can erase?

What if even when he doesn't remember what his own name sounds like, somehow he can still find in the back of his mind a melody interpreted in a voice that is not his? One much more squeaky, shy and tiny, and so full of an emotion that he doesn't know the name of but can still feel in his own heart.

And what if when he can no longer keep going, when he stops dead on his tracks, stuck between realities, he does not lower his head, but he slightly looks down as his arms rise just a little bit before freezing completely. Because his mind might be all gone, and even if his body can no longer move... it still knows how to gently hold what's dearest to him.

I was thinking about Frontiers and saw some of your baby Tails art, which made me think, how HORRIBLE the whole Starfall Islands deal would be for Sonic if that baby version of his lil bro was there. He was worried enough looking for his friends and brother while suffering from the cyber corruption but imagine if he was looking for BABY TAILS instead. Titans and The End wouldn't have lasted more than an hour for sure (also try not to imagine poor lil guy being so confused cause he was flying with his brother a moment ago and now he's trapped in a scary energy thing and he feels weird and he's all alone and where's Sonic-)

At the wrong place, but for the right reason - Tails is left unresponsive and very injured after a bad explosion in his workshop, and Sonic (totally not blinded by panic) takes him to Eggman’s base for help. Eggman doesn't know for the life of him why he lets them in.

I love them so much! What amazes me most about the Sonic and Tails story is that Sonic was a kid himself when he decided to take on such responsibility. And I'm sure Sonic had to change his lifestyle one way or another. But... where did Sonic get a DAMN PLANE???

Hi. I don't know if anyone has asked you this before, but what would happen to Baby Tails in Sonic Forces? How would he deal with losing Sonic and reuniting him? If you can give me an answer, story, or image, I'd appreciate it.

short answer: it’s complicated because toddlers don’t know anything

long answer:

starting this off by saying that baby tails is not alone in eggman’s territory during the six months! the resistance does take care of him! don’t worry!!!

anyway, since he’s a literal toddler, tails doesn’t really understand the concept of death. all he knows is that something big happened, everyone around him is upset, and sonic hasn’t been home in a long time

i think vanilla would be the one to explain to him what happened to sonic (or at least what they believe happened) since she’s the one who mostly watches over him during the war itself. he asks her a bunch a questions about it, trying to understand what exactly she means by “sonic is dead” as kids of that age group tend to do. he doesn’t know what “dead” is

his separation anxiety gets cranked up to 11 and he’s extremely anxious because everyone around him is feeling very big emotions all the time, and also because he missed his big bro. during the first few months of the war, he’d toddle around the resistance looking for him and would start crying when the hedgehog was no where to be found. (it’s happened to him before, y’know? people leaving and never coming back…maybe sonic left for the same reason?)

eventually, sonic does get rescued and returns to mobius. cue the wholesome reunion

sonic doesn’t hug his 8 yr old brother in the game, but he sure as hell will hug his 1-2 yr old brother if i have anything to say about it. and i have a lot to say about it

tldr: he spends his time during the war being very confused and anxious and scared because he doesn’t really understand where his big bro went. why is he gone? where did he go?
