cosmetic plastic surgeons do not give a fuck about you. their offices are like assembly lines. they do not care about you. they do not care about your feelings. they only care about how much money they can make off of your insecurities.
this especially includes so-called "gender affirming" cosmetic surgeons. "oh i found this great surgeon who affirms me" no you did not. you found a snakeoil salesman who is going to have you chasing a dragon you will never catch.

disabled people are beautiful!!!
(image description below the cut--it wouldn't fit in alt text!!)
a drawing of 15 disabled people on a yellow background with a light pink floral pattern. from left to right:
1. a fat white person whose left (their left) arm ends before the elbow. their right arm is on their hip, & they are smiling. they have short red hair, a yellow dress with white flowers, white hoop earrings, and black heels. they also have moles and are blushing.
2. a chubby middle eastern woman wearing a light pink embroidered abaya kaftan style robe and a slightly darker pink hijab. the robe's embroidery is delicate mauve vines around the sleeves, and two matching vines down the front. the woman has a german shepherd service dog with her. the. dog is sitting to the viewers right and has its tongue out, and is wearing a service dog vest. the woman is holding the leash to the dog in her right hand, and has her left hand on her hip. she is wearing pink slippers with a mauve gem on the top.
3. a black, bald, thin, nonbinary person with several facial piercings and earrings standing with their left arm lower than the right, slightly tilted backwards, arms hanging by their sides. they are wearing pink sandals, knee braces, a compression glove and elbow brace on their left arm, & have on blue shorts and a bright pink crop top that says 'FUCK ABLEISTS' (peep that underboob 👀 [side eye emoji]).
4. a chubby south asian woman with white hair and a green striped cane wearing a pale green button up shirt with shoulder pads, dark green corduroy pants, and brown loafers. her posture is tilted a bit from scoliosis.
5. a thin east asian man with a facial deformity that affects his nose and makes his left eye lower than the right. he has wavy pink har that is long on top and short on the sides. he is wearing a white cropped tank top with lace at the neck-line, and loose, flowy green pants. his shoes are white with pink detailing. he is turned so his body faces the viewer's right side, but is looking at the camera with his hands in his pockets.
6. a curvy latine autistic person holding a yellow AAC/speech tablet in front of their chest. they have very long light blue curly hair and freckles, and are smiling with their eyes closed. they are wearing dark blue headphones, a yellow short sleeve shirt, a dark blue romper with bows on the shoulders, and yellow sandals.
7. a curvy disabled bed-bound native american person lying in bed on their side facing the viewer and smiling. they have their left arm folded under their head, & their right arm laying next to heir face. the bed is dark brown with blue and white patterned sheets and a fuzzy purple blanket draped over the person and a corner is touching the ground. the person has tan skin and shaved brown hair.
8. a thin black woman with vitiligo, and wavy lime green hair with baby hairs, smiling in a wheelchair with lime green wheels. she is tilting the wheelchair back in a wheelie position. she is wearing a high-neck, sleeveless, black top with a boob window; light blue skinny jeans; tall, black lace-up boots; and dangly earrings.

The cool thing about a horror movie that takes place in a mental hospital and, shockingly, actually turns out to be on the side of mentally ill people is that it avoids all the common disgusting pitfalls of mocking, demonizing, and infantilizing mentally ill people.
The downside is
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
[It's much scarier.]
#original#smile movie#smile 2022#I'm literally two scenes in#it could definitely become ableist by the end of the movie but I'm kind of obsessed so far?#like nothing is scarier to me than the lack of quality help and validation available to victims of trauma! and this movie is LEANING INTO IT#which is way scarier and also way truer and more important to talk about than a looney bin filled with lunatics who want to murder you#like that's literally a concept based solely on people's ableist fears.#same with horror movie monsters that are just people with facial deformities or congenital disorders or just... people who are poor#(the hillbilly cannibal trope is just MAN POOR PEOPLE ARE SCARY HUH. it's garbage.)#what's ACTUALLY a horror is the way these people are treated! and that INCLUDES how they are portrayed in media!#because guess what? ghosts aren't real and an abandoned mental hospital can't hurt you#but you know what can? a doctor who doesn't believe you. a system built on neglect. THAT'S the horror we need to talk about.#and THAT is why I am going to have to watch this movie in short installments over a few days#and let me be clear: i am alive today bc of a mental hospital's IOP/PHP program. i stopped being suicidal after YEARS bc of that program#mental hospitals CAN and SHOULD be GOOD THINGS ACTUALLY. but in countries with shitty healthcare that's very hard to find.#it is also why it is my life's work to build a treatment center that PROVES we can do this ethically and with compassion#life is worth living#and the American Healthcare industry can die just the same as any other giant or dragon. empires have fallen before. it is not immortal.#YOU reading this matter. stay safe. please. it isn't the end yet. i love you.

I've actually been seeing some really based takes on tiktok lately so I think the algorithm is working for me. Lots of feminism and using misogynists for entertainment and female solidarity. Certain tumblr users could take notes

once I finished my work in art so I decided to read some of the old art books on the shelf, so I pulled out a book from the 20th century about world sculptures, only for it to include Moche pottery in the same primitive category as European Neolithic carvings. And I just absolutely rage quit. a fucking book

im still waiting til the 28th to talk ab casual stuff (n ill edit this part later on) but the idea of cassie’s dad/bonnie bro also being the jeremy who sliced his face off is really interesting to me for a design idea, specifically in showing facial deformity without it being “body horror” or “gore” or whatever (compared to michael who was literally a rotting corpse, those tags fit him)
im not sure which jeremy he is, if he’s any, and im not sure if he’ll be in the next game seeing as its probly the ‘83 fall festival,
but having a character with, say, no nose and other parts of his face missing is something id like to portray in a design! esp treating it as normal, bcuz it is (the way he acquired the injury isnt per se, but still, showing that in art is important)
ill include him in the theatre “au” im working on

Love your bodily autonomy post. Makes me think of how a couple months ago, for my 18th birthday I got an industrial piercing done. My mom straight up told me the idea of it made her uncomfortable and she didn't really like it, but that as long as I wanted it she was fine with me getting it. It was more the idea of the piercing itself, but still, she was able to respect that /I/ wanted it and thats what mattered. She actually really likes how it looks too haha
Like, I totally get why people are adverse or repulsed by certain bodily changes, but ultimately, it isn't very productive to prevent somebody to go through with that change - be it a piercing, a tattoo, hair dye, or even a surgery.
My dad was the same way. He's told me to my face he finds facial piercings to be something he's adverse to. It didn't stop me from inviting him to drive with me to get my four facial piercings (which he did, and he, too isn't opposed to them on me). At the end of the day, we must realize having conditional autonomy is not autonomy.

I just recently watched Nope, so i have recent thoughts on it: In terms of prop design (the fact that the eating scene seems to be done with a tarp), the story as it unfolds, the beginning/ending frames. One of the best if not best movies ive seen. And it was a horror movie i didn't even need to turn up my brightness for
