#actually yeah remember that time i had swine flu#i had a 104 degree fever and was terrified to go to the hospital#not because of the hospital but because i'd have to manage my parents' emotions and anxiety while i was there on top of being sick as hell#i locked myself in the bathroom refusing to let my dad take me to the ER#and only gave in when he promised he wouldn't tell my mom#and then his girlfriend told my mom. they fucking lied#and then. you guessed it. i had to manage everyone's emotions while we waited for the ER to do literally nothing#the swine flu tests were super unreliable and i got a false negative. they sent me home with some antibiotics and called it a day#then sheepishly called a week later when the second test came back positive to basically ask if i was still alive#swine flu fucked me up for a long time. but it didn't warrant an er visit#and it certainly didn't warrant my parents fucking breaking my trust like that#i know they only told my mom so they didn't have to deal with her going off after the fact#which is such bullshit. that's the kind of thing a parent is supposed to take and shield their kid from#not break their trust so you get it easy#but of course. if my dad had been one to take my aversion to my mom seriously then. then he and i wouldn't be going on 4yrs of no contact#because a looooot of things would've had to be different for that one thing to happen#god i have so much anger for my parents. so much grief#my mom's been surprisingly silent (all things considered) in the near month i've been no contact with her#and it's not like seeing the disgusting emails and voicemails from her feels good but... but they're almost better than nothing.#they're sort of love. in a way. not really... but. but it hurts to know how hard my dad fought to get through to me#and to have spent the past 4yrs with my mom rubbing in my face how she'd never be like him and Just let me go. how she'd fight.#being told that at the time didn't feel like love. didn't feel healthy. and now seeing that she didn't even fucking mean it.#she prided herself so much on being the one who Loved Me More. really hard not to see it for the performance it was now#makes me wonder if my dad really actually did love me as much as he said. not that it was much but. it was more. it was something#i know he's not capable of change. even less capable than my mom. but. i really miss my dad right now.#(glad i can still remember what his voice sounds like. so i don't have to go listen to one of those old voicemails he left me)#even considering that the memory that brought this all up was him lying to me and betraying my trust#being no contact with my parents...i'm finally the orphan i always have been#personal#ahhhh therapy's gonna be JUICY this week 🤣

Every day, I meditate on my anger and bitterness. I reflect on my seemingly bottomless need to ruminate on all the people who have abused and traumatized me starting from a young age. The unfairness of it all. The senselessness. I grieve for myself as a little girl who desperately wanted to be love and be loved, and whose desperation was like blood in water to sharks.
I send quiet internal prayers out to the universe and ask it to lessen my anger, because I truly don't think I need it anymore. I'm safe from harmful people for arguably the first time in my entire life. I have friends and family whom I love. I have cultivated a sense of self-love so all-encompassing that no other person will likely ever be able to rival it. I am safe. I'm okay. I'm happy. I don't need my anger anymore.
I reflect on how to this day my mother, who I had to cut off for my own sanity, is a bitter, miserable woman now in her 60s. How eerily my personality and potential echo hers. Her and I both were deeply wounded over and over, starting at young ages by our mothers. We both jump to rage when we are hurt, we both ruminate endlessly about those who hurt us, replaying the painful mental movies over and over again, hurting ourselves long after the harmful people have gone.
I see her in me, and I see what I have the potential to become if I don't release my resentment. It's hard to let go of something that has kept you safe in the past. My anger has time and time again scared off abusers, once they realize it makes me too unstable, unpredictable, and therefore difficult to control.
But I don't need it right now. It's best to internally send well wishes to all who have hurt me, because it takes someone equally hurt and dysfunctional to mistreat others. The only way I don't end up as one of them, to not end up a carbon copy of my mother, is to let the resentment go.
I've undertaken several self/life improvement projects that will hopefully bear fruit in early 2025. Not jinxing anything by talking about it yet, but I'm excited. I'm ready to look towards the future and leave my past where it belongs, and I do this with love and acceptance.
#personal#anger#the belief that my anger is still protecting me has been limiting me a lot#i may need to call on it again someday but it's not likely#because i have the experience and knowledge to recognize emotionally & physically unsafe people from a mile away now#but in the event that i let another one get near me again i can yield it like a weapon and then put it away once I'm safe again#my mom keeps her anger unsheathed at all times and it's made her sick and unstable and unhappy#what I've been through in the last year has given me so much compassion for her bc I finally understood that she acted the way she did#bc she has been in immeasurable unhealed emotional pain her entire life#it doesn't excuse it. it's still her responsibility as an adult to go to therapy and stop unloading on everything and everyone#but i realize now that she wasn't just torturing and abusing me for fun. she did love me deeply. but she was not in control of herself#i feel pity for her because i now understand first-hand how deep main mixed with a sensitive nervous system#transforms you into someone you're not#i don't know if she'll ever seek the help she needs but i finally feel i can forgive her from a distance#one thing is for sure we do not have free will lmao#it takes an enormous amount of awareness to cross the threshold of unconsciousness we live most of our lives in#i flit in and out of this unconsciousness all the time and it takes work#tonight i feel i have clarity but tomorrow my neurotransmitters might feel like firing off in anger again#all i can do is catch myself in it and breathe and remind myself of who i don't want to be#and most importantly who i want to become

i do wish that there was more of a linguistical shorthand to differentiate between 'i want x (something i am striving for/think i should have)' and 'i want x (something i just want emotionally with no intention to see through)' or at the very least a little more grace in the way people interpret that shit when it's something immoral/illegal/'bad'
i feel like i should be able to say 'i want bad things to happen to the person who hurt me' without also feeling i have to clarify that i don't mean that i'm actually going to do those bad things or think that those bad things should happen. because then it just feels like i'm being forced to defend the person who did a bad thing to me when all i really wanted to do was vent the way that my hurt expresses itself in my brain

#there's other situations this applies to like many trans people expressing shame over 'wanting' cancer#because the reality of it was that they just want(ed) *some* way of getting access to life-saving surgeries#and having cancer in those parts of their bodies would get them access to that they otherwise don't/won't have#but damn near anything you say about your emotional wants on the internet#can and will be used against you in the court of public fucking opinion#and viewed as if you had the most bad faith intentions with them as possible#it's taken like#20+ years of therapy to get to a point where i could even admit to some of my emotional 'wants'#because of fear that they would be considered evidence that i was unsafe and have me fucking hospitalised#and that fear isn't an irrational one because that absolutely fucking happens to people!

What doesn't kill you makes you sad strange defensive and difficult to connect with
#It's my annual visit to stay with my parents which means#Two weeks of being as normal as possible around people all day while my journal entries get increasingly unhinged#Because openness fosters interpersonal closeness but I don't know how to be Open around them in a way that doesn't massively hurt for evry1#Like. How am I? I'm in near constant emotional pain because coming back here sucks. Because my memories of here since#like eleven are of suffering and fear and inability to escape. So I'm scared and hurting. But!#I will keep coming back here anyway. Because one day I won't have my parents anymore. And I don't want to regret time not spent with them.#It's a bit perverse isn't it. Being motivated by fleeing fear instead of pursuing love. But that's where I'm at.#And what are my parents meant to do with that? They can't fix it. Or me. They can't apologize in a way that would mean anything to me.#They can only suffer in guilt and helplessness. And then I'll imagine their suffering and hurt more for it.#And that's it! Fin! The only endpoint I can see. I've tried putting it on their shoulders before. It only hurts.#So I will try very hard to behave like I'm calm and okay. And in two weeks or when I snap -whichever comes first- I'll go back home#And return to the peace of social isolation and cleaning my house and admiring wildlife.#It's not healthy to keep oneself so alone. But I am not healthy. I'm sad and strange and defensive and difficult to connect with.#And nobody but me can help me and I don't know how to be different.#Christ. I need to go back to therapy.
