calling out all the 30+ yr old simmers..
no shade to the teens and early twenties bloggers but it’s hard finding people within my age group that are active and continue to contribute here in the community.
also idk if anyone else experiences this but sometimes it can be difficult relating to the younger population due to generational differences, pop culture, etc.
please reblog or comment if you fall into the 30+ age simblr category.

I wonder how the Yautja view depression (is there any canon evidence of them dealing with someone with depression? 👀)
Do they see it as a weakness? Or would you be thought of as more tough because you manage to fight off suicidal ideation and unpleasant symptoms all day every day, on top of functioning in the world? What about the days when you just.... can't? What would your yautja s/o do - would they do whatever they could to help you? Or would they leave you be, watching from a distance, until you got back on your feet?
Maybe one day, after a few days of being stuck in bed after an even worse couple of weeks, you wake up to a clean new skull on your bedside table. You'd been feeling a little extra sad with your partner gone (especially since you weren't sure where he was) but this gift puts a smile of your face for the first time in days. So he was on a hunt, off finding you a suitable trophy in an attempt to cheer you up. And it worked, if only a little. When you finally get up, wrapping yourself in a blanket and heading out to the kitchen, you see your Yautja there cooking something. Whatever it is it smells fantastic. You come up behind him and wrap your arms around his waist, stretching a bit to try and clasp your hands together. He huffs out a small laugh at your attempt and places a hand over yours. The two of you stand there in comfortable silence while your Yautja finishes cooking. You feel a bit better, for the time being.

Wrangling the Children onto some fresh leaves. The Cecropia Kids are over 40 days old and still growing, and I’m starting to worry they won’t pupate in before I leave on vacation . Granted, I’m sure everything will be ok but it’s in my nature to worry over multi-legged invertebrate children. I just love larvae.
(Forgive the frass, I cleaned it out shortly after getting all the cats onto fresh food)

In the midst of all the madness, I forgot to share this rad collab I did with Nic from Quench Quest on YouTube! This sujamma video was great fun to be a part of and I'm so humbled that others want to work with me!
Anyway, enjoy, and please don't mind my weird accent. My segment starts around 8 minutes in! ~Tal

I went to Jack in the Box and they had a weird anti-woke burger to celebrate John Elder Robison. I tasted it and it was bland fried chicken with mayonnaise and a little iceberg lettuce.

Here's a random head canon I have for Maxson, the Brotherhood of Steel, and in general, the foods of the wasteland (It's 5:30am and I havent gone to bed, so if you want more please let me know!):
I feel like he would have a low spice tolerance. And so to this, the rations on the Prydwen would be very bland, more like a 'season it yourself' type deal.
It'd be very common to see a bigger supply of the pre-war foods on board, and any meat that was brought in from excursions would either be cooked with only salt or no seasonings at all.
This is also why you'll see a lot of people in the mess hall of the ship eating noodles, as noodles are easily customizable to ones palette.
Speaking of spices and seasonings, salt would obviously still be available. Salt farming is rarer, though, as there's barely any plants in the Commonwealth to farm it. If they wanted salt, they'd have to manually take the water from the Atlantic and boil it themselves to extract the salt. Nordhagen Beach would probably be the settlement to do this, and would it would be a successful business, too.
While the bean itself isn't spicy, the pods silt beans come in and would probably infuse a slight spice into whatever liquid they're steeped in. This would be a very mild spice, though. The beans themselves would probably be similar to peas.
Bloodleaf can be dried and crushed to add a bitter accent to any dish, or they can be steeped once dried to make a somewhat bitterly sweet tea. This would probably be paired with Hubflowers.
Thistle, if harvested correctly, would have a somewhat spicy tang to them. If harvested incorrectly, they could have a lot of radiation to them, so it's always safer to cook the thistle before even attempting to use it.
With trade routes all around the wastes, it'd be possible to gain other fruits and veg from the other provinces, so it would be highly likely there'd be pre-made spices and seasonings, too
Anything highly irradiated would have to be prepared properly before even making sure it's safe to consume. The radiation effecting the food would leave behind a kick of flavor in the meat/vegetation, but this would be different for every person. Some say it's a bit more bitter, while for others, it could be spicy.

I'm an only child and also the eldest grandchild of all my grandparents, but specifically grew up closest to my mother's family and was also the only grandchild on that side for 12 years. That means that my oldest cousin is, of course, 12 years younger than I am, and the others only get younger from there, and I held them all as babies.
I've returned to the spawning grounds (the area of rural Oregon where I was born and where a bunch of my maternal extended family live) for a family get-together, and tragedy has struck, beyond being trapped in rural Oregon.
My beloved youngest cousin (more like a nephew; his mother, my mother's much younger sister, is only 5 years older than me and he's 24 years my junior) came excitedly running up to see me. I went over to hug him ... and for the first time, he's noticeably taller than me, too. My middle cousins are super tall including my oldest cousin's sister (17 years younger than me and like, 5'10" to my 5'4") and my maternal aunts and uncles will never have more children. The circle is now complete :(
