Jarred.

Doom.

The leader of the Resistance, the only person to ever escape the Shadowlands on their own. A man who is held in high regard by everyone, and feared by most. The man who lost his memories, but was given a chance to find new purpose in his life.

When you fight your whole life, you have to know how to escape.

I just want to say that I love the idea of Doom and Steven as Both Dads, because they both have a chronic adoption problem, and both handle it and Parent in opposite ways. Exhibit 1:

chb gets to be the fun summer camp where 'children grow into heroes!!!' and all that jazz but cj is the strict military camp??? chb gets to have fun elective classes like underwater basket weaving and canoeing but cj brands you with a spqr mark and a bar for every year of service???? not to mention how weird that is when rr's lame ass wrote that cj fought for the confederacy??? chb has capture the flag! cj has war games. chb's oracle wears paint splattered jeans lol 🤪cj's oracle is power hungry and brutally mutilates stuffed animals 😐

and not only did he write the camps like this. the charas from each camp is written like this too!!! percy is fun and charming. jason is there. annabeth is spunky and witty. reyna is... stern. dakota has an alcoholism problem but bc it's a children's book he drinks kool-aid instead??? the satyrs bravely guide the greek demigods to their home at chb. the romans have to face The Wolf b4 coming to cj. and if they fail? they die. they just die. and they've been doing it that way forever. there's a wolf who kills their fellow demigods bc she deems the weak and everyone in cj just fucking goes on with their lives. the gods interact with chb. do they even know that cj exists???

imperial gold, the main metal used by the roman demigods, is constantly in shortage? they have to go on quests to find more of it???? meanwhile, there never seems to be a shortage of celestial bronze???? if you choose to stay at chb, you might die an early death but you can still interact with the world at large. if you choose to stay at new rome, you'll be safe but you're essentially isolated from the rest of the world.

okay that last point might be a little unfair but like this shit drives me crazy!!!! he just wrote the romans like they were temu chb. chb with all the sparkle gone. like he didn't even try. as if the romans didn't have their own myths. as if the romans didn't write poetry or make graffiti. as if the romans weren't their own separate culture!!!!

Ivan’s idealization of MiziSua - A (personal) analysis

As a child, Ivan was shown to be very detached from the other kids around him in Anakt garden. Admired, but never approached because Ivan had problems processing emotions and expressions like other kids, which is a sure way to be excluded. besides, he was never interested in them in the first place.

So really, he had nobody around him until he met Mizi, Sua, and Till.

Ivan is an observer, he didn't know how to get closer to Till so he observed what other kids did and went along with what held the best results, now taking all this into account, naturally he'd be the same way around his friend group.

Mizi and Sua held a strong bond and love. They held eachother on high pedastals and basically saw eachother as their gods because they were so special to each other. And Ivan was always seeing that.

He even saw that sentiment in way Till loved Mizi, Till admired and looked up to Mizi (in the same way Sua did) because of her bright kindness and flowery purity that was was such a rarity in the world they lived in. She was his light, savior, she was his goddess.

And Ivan wanted Till to look at him like that too. He wanted what MiziSua had.

And so, Ivan put Till on a pedestal too because thats the only way he's known how to love. Ivan saw Till, his light, his god, his universe, everything. He loved Till like he loved a god. Even when Till wouldn't acknowledge him, he was only a hopeless follower to still attach to him. He held Till in such a high regard because Till was genuinely special to him. If Ivan couldn't love Till enough to worship him, did he really love him? and if Till couldn't see him in that way either, did he really love him back?

But, Till isn't a god. Till isn't his god.
