i didn't think that the pineapple bobbing scene on the 'lumon is listening' stopmotion short would be foreshadowing future events with helly, but that only made me feel more confident that the 'playful mirror room' scene with irving is definitely foreshadowing something irv will go through this season (likely as a consequence for what he did with helena, as we've seen)

it stood out to me from day one as looking rather ominous and out of place on this short, because unlike the little game with helly or the other things they show the puppets doing, they didn't even bother to make it seem like puppet irv was having a good time here. also, according to one of the animators who worked on this scene, they were initially just going to distort puppet irv's face to achieve the effects of the mirror, but ben stiller specifically asked for it to look more 'demonic' than that, so they had to enhance the puppet with big teeth and mismatched proportions to make it look scarier. that has to mean something!

brazil had a non-replica production of wicked a few years ago in which elphaba actually flies over the audience on defying gravity. i know some people don't like that scenes like these have to use wires (which the lighting can only do so much to mask) but ngl this shit gets me hyped every time. like she is DEFYING gravity baby‼️‼️
