it's nice to see an adaptation of something i hold really dear to my heart and really like it despite the differences it has to the original. still not a complete hater at heart ‼️‼️
#honestly the weird feeling i got when play sh2 remake despite it being a competent game made me worried#like did i turn into a nostalgic purist? am i addicted to being a hater now?#but nah i just think there was a genuine shift in tone that didn't sit well with me

really liked the wicked movie!! my only major criticism is that the addition of new scenes sometimes hurt the pacing of the movie, especially so when they were mid-song and got in the way of the flow of the music (particularly annoying on defying gravity imo), but the scenes themselves were not bad and the musical kept the exact same vibe, which is commendable. and elphaba and glinda still have that class s homoerotic situationship going on which is clearly the most important part of any of this
#wicked#ariana grande was quite good as galinda as well! not just a stunt casting#some people accused her of bringing the same nickelodeon energy to the role but truth be told galinda IS a quirky best friend#so her being silly on point. cynthia erivo was a great elphaba too she really came across as clever but insecure

remember when steve from blues clues was upset that people thought he died in a car crash, not because people thought he was dead but because they said he was driving a dodge charger and "that's a cop car"

Back when i worked i spent 8 hours packaging chicken skewers and the first day i was so exhausted that i couldn't stop shaking and whenever i closed my eyes to sleep i kept seeing chicken skewers and i couldn't get the smell out of my clothes so i did my best to picture images of The Beatles instesd but they kept fading & turned into chicken skewers like in some horrible nightmare and i was miserable

i think a lot of liberals need to confront the fact that they don’t actually believe everyone should have basic human rights. a homeless person could call me every slur under the sun and i would still want them to have housing, food, etc. the belief that everyone is entitled to basic human rights should not hinge on whether you “like” someone or not. at that point the entire ideology crumbles.

the scariest thing about old tv isnt really the racism or the sexisim because you kinda go in braced for that it's all the scenes where suddenly an actress is holding a lion cub or a chimpanzee is in the same room as a toddler, or suddenly theres a lion, or there's a chimpanzee again but it's driving a car, or holding a lighter, or holding fireworks. You just kind of watch in horror as over and over an actress performs with only 1960s tv film shootings best animal handling between her and the opening to Nope.
