i'm obsessed with these two frames because it encapsulates so many techniques used to communicate hyuna's character.
earth & sun symbolism. hyunwoo is represented by the sun and hyuna by the earth, so the sunset is very appropriate when illustrating hyunwoo running off into the horizon. he departs from life as the sun departs from the sky.
colours. hyuna is defined by three main colours, as set up in all-in. two are used here, pale blue representing her attachment to the past, and orange representing her compassion and understanding for humanity. hyuna depended strongly on hyunwoo and his sense of justice, so a part of her values died along with him. as orange leaves her, the only thing that's left is the blue of the night.
day & night imagery. this is mostly present in lyrics, where day represents living and moving on, and night represents being stuck in trauma. hyuna never fully processes hyunwoo's death, trapping her in this "night [that] knows no end".
direction. slightly a reach because nothing really moves in these two frames, and the background being the same could just be a simple mistake on the animator's part. but the sun keeps on the right, and night encroaches on the left. hyuna's caught between these two, always having to keep going and moving onto day after the next, but still holding desperately onto the past as she does.

I really like December's fansign event for these shikishis (1st one, I assume, was drawn in the same time frame as the second) but I didnāt see Tillās version itās so kyute

What held their relationship back the most really was ignorance and misunderstanding⦠every time there is a little more of Tillās initial perspective of Ivan, it shows in his emotional response to Ivan and his thoughts. Ivanās an oddity to Till, but it seems that Till had already automatically given him the benefit of the doubt <turns out, Tillās attachment to Ivan was founded in a mutual desire for connection, from the start, pure intentions and all, Till considered Ivan a friend, a weirdo, but not the enemy>
(and thatās something Iām particularly fixated on, since Tillās thoughts arenāt clear, but reading between the lines of his expressions/words makes for a fascinating tell of his feelings)
Naturally, because of Tillās nature, I donāt think he would have assumed the worst of Ivan in the beginning; thatās why he doesnāt and didnāt hate him. INFPS in general tend to be more empathetic and compassionate, heās an intuitive feeler type, with that in mind, TIll is naturally compassionate and considerate even for Ivanās sake. But if Ivan had chosen his words better, Till wouldāve liked and understood him better/soonerā itās about moments like these where Till perceived Ivanās behavior despite Ivanās best intentions, thus, he internalized his irritation with Ivanās bullying <And grew to ignore what he couldnāt understand for the simplicity, since they couldnāt reconcile with being honest> . His guilt over not having known to see Ivanās intentions sooner before he died so that he wouldnāt have lost him in such a way resurfaced with similar sentiment
āHeās a jerkā¦but he probably has his reasonsā ā> āHe was so confusing, but even he was trying to reach out tooā

also a good time to say estjs and infps are compatible, hard to adapt because of their fundamental differences, but they can help eachother⦠reading articles on that dynamic feels like reading fanfic because itās for ivantill ngl
#Rotting over ivti again#Itās really hard to move on#not to mention reading articles about infps and estjs felt so much like themā¦Iām constantly surrounded by#āTill isnāt infpā āIvan isnāt estjā propoganda#I think it depends on how you interpret the characters mostly but those types align with them best imo#Alien stage#alien stage till#alnst till#ivantill

Hope Till gets a 2nd sub song, specifically a more somber song, because he needs more of that genre of music that encapsulates a depressive mood you're having at night-- and he is THE songwriter of ALNST so why have we only heard two songs made by him
(I especially want to hear his thoughts post-cure through the songs he probably wrote in the rebellion, or something like that... really I think it'd be a fun concept for his inspirational bouts of writing to reveal multiple sides of him--Initially when I heard utte and MVL I assumed that when he writes he's his most energetic, but sometimes he could just write based on whats on his mind to "vent" in a way š¤·, not to mention his songs already edge on the line of self-deprecating it would be so cool to see that explored more )
That's also why I kinda wish they could make one little booklet with some songs he wrote as a creative way to expand on him...it'd be so interesting (even though I'm sure that's very difficult, so I'll let it be a dream)
#alien stage#alnst#alien stage till#alnst till#brainvomit sorry...#i never knew how hyped i could be for a musically inclined character until i found till#maybe i project a little... because i also mess with writing on occasion anyway i think itd be a good opportunity to expand on his#musical side because its such a core part of him and its clear he apparently writes SO MUCH#kind of like hyuna--she's also a songwriter and we have proof that Love and peace and Drunk and party were songs she wrote and i love that#--concept

On Till's definition of family
Till's loneliness, his persistent pursuit of life, [love] through memory (thus the title, "Remember everything" ), and his new goal
---
add-on post to my interpretation of Till's character growth from Scars -> Remember Everything
All Panels from the "Remember everything" comic are a fan translation by @/ka_akeakamai All panels from the ātraceā comic are a fan translation by @/whatafruit
(pretty short)
What is Till's definition of family? -> It seems that Till's understanding of love is closely tied to family. Referring back to Io, who was his first influence. They were the first to have an <understanding> of Till, even beyond their concerns. They prioritized him because they knew he was so happy making music. Io had a love more sincere and warm than anything, and for Till, that would be something he'd desire for the rest of his life, too. Understanding and love. A desire for a similar kind of comforting warmth, love with someone who loved him just as he loved them, and understanding from people that you would usually come to associate with family or community. <In essence, Till desired companionship and solidarity for that reason>
Till had family in Anakt Garden. There's something protective about the way he guards his heart with those memories so sincerely, keeping them in a fishbowl or a jewelry box for safekeeping, thatās how he cherishes his loved oneās, whether heās just too shy to admit it or his heart is the warmest inside. That's where his heart ultimately lies. In the love he desires to share and have, and the people he cares about---

Because of this persistent heart that craved love and people, he would never stop seeking that out. He was so desperate for it, it was like a lifeline. That nuance to his thought process is what makes his thought process illogical at times. For instance, his infatuation with Mizi was delusional, also a comfort for him, based on a person he personally put upon a pedestal to be a savior, a comfort, someone who truly understood. For that time in his life, his blind love and determination for Mizi's acknowledgement were a desire for understanding and love, even at the expense of reason (that was so bluntly handed to him) and his own sense of self. That's how deep-rooted his dependence is.
So I come to the conclusion that Till's foolish dependence is the exact reason he falls apart so quickly without it. For him, having the security of love and safety and the ability to be himself without restraints is his "meaning of life." Without it, he loses himself-- not only does he as a person thrive on love, but he can't imagine a life without it (Especially without the person who symbolized the love he wanted and the peace he desired, and all things reaffirming his existence, gone--it just destroys him, as was shown in Round 6)
Till's loneliness is shown when he's forced to live with it. He's free, but he's aimlessly living even in the rebellion.
I think that there's really nobody else but Mizi or Ivan who can get as close to Till's inner world. (In truth, is it ever easy to let go of bonds you once had in a new environment?) That's why Till isn't satisfied. He's empty. He either comes to embrace the emptiness and live with it, or he fearfully stays attached to the past and his regrets. That's why he doesn't let Ivan go until he does and truly embraces what he had been avoiding, including the loneliness. And with that, he finds a new ambition

The true difficulty is that children in the garden aren't taught these simple definitions. That's why the word family has been so obscure for so long, and that's what makes it so precious. It describes solidarity and true bonds, and what Till comes to understand after decades of chasing is that these people he grew up with and came to love were <his> family. He describes it like that because they were that important to him (and it is his regret that he hadn't come to understand that sooner)

What new motivation does this realization bring? -> Those irreplaceable memories shouldn't be forgotten. He can bring back the remnants to fill this emptiness with closure. The only way to do that is to persist with living, take the lessons learned and turn them into strength to keep going, and continue to hope, love. I feel like he's still fighting to protect what he had in this sense, just like in the past. (In a way, "family should be fought for like no other" because Till understands what he's lost now; he'd never be at peace knowing he didn't take this chance to make everyday count for making up for the past, or, he couldāve simply disposed of the past for a new future, but then, what about Ivan? He'll always want the family he once had. )

Till's idealized infatuation with Mizi when they were children is gone now, but he's still determined to track her down. When her whereabouts are mysterious and he's living freely, why? It's simple; she's his family too. Till realizes how fleeting life can be and what he's lost because of the time he didn't have to take the chance to grasp what was precious and keep it. That's his life's regret. He'll never find true peace and closure without the family he once had, even with this new, free life. Now, after coming to understand himself and Ivan's loneliness (and what he was so desperate for, love, it makes him understand what they were all wanting, it makes him realize what he's living for), it rekindles a sense of drive and Till's sense of self. The drive to live to share what he's learned and bring back the remnants. Mizi is still out there, and just like he once was, she's lost

What does Till know about Mizi? Why does he think this? -> There's a reason why he thinks he understands what would bring Mizi peace, and it's just what he needs to. Mizi's motivations and fears were similar to his own; he may not know this part of her story word for word, but what we know is that Mizi has always been searching for love. She's always wanted peace and solidarity to escape loneliness. That's the child who was so determined to go to Anakt Garden in the hope of escape from aliens within humans who were like her. That's the same child who just wanted to have somebody to find safety in. Mizi wanted a sense of solidarity and desired love just the same.
Mizi chose love and family over everything else because even after escaping that life, she couldn't stand to forget what she <left behind>, she didn't want to forget them. (Just like with Till, these memories, those people are irreplaceable; she couldn't find a place in that new life without them, and in a hopeless scenario, it's understandable why she ultimately chose her family again. Revenge was for her family. )
There's nobody who can understand Till like Mizi can, both of whom have loved and lost. Both of them retain the fond memories of Ivan and Sua. If Mizi and Till are both alive to continue to love and live with the memories they have, then Ivan and Sua won't be forgotten and only remembered for being karma. And theyāll have each other to connect the remaining pieces. The peace they desire is closure, and together, reconnecting as a family, they'll have that with forgiveness and having these memories even of suffering, to not spiral into tragedy and become remnants of ALNST but to love to keep living

And truly, I think this is the person Till is becoming. After growing as a person and understanding Ivan, and embracing him as a person that he had cared for and saw as family (acknowledging the love and bond they had underneath what they hid ) helps Till move forward. With the passion he has for love and his art, now he has made the suffering he's been through and the love he's learned and understood into something sincere that he can give to others. Instead of running from pain, he embraces that so that he can keep living and remembering
Now, instead of a person waiting to be acknowledged and saved, he became a person who actively can spread love to others, even children who were once like him, so that they have a better chance of being nurtured and knowing love and family early on. Sooner rather than later.
(That's why I interpret his smile to the gene kids as something so warm. The first thing Till does is offer kindness, humaneness. Not just for the children's sake because they're simply children, but for the memories they carry unknowingly; they mean so much. The fact that Till could still accept them means so much for the seven years he had to grow as a person with the trauma he embraces. (With that, it proves that even this hurt didnāt kill his humane and loving nature, instead of suffering with those memories, he cherishes the good and bad memories in the present ) Alongside what I said earlier, would ensuring they get to live as more than products or tokens of memorabilia be one of his new goals? Because thatās the purpose of their lives, to live and love each other and fight for the strength to hope and their freedom

I dunno if the spray Isaac and Till were referring to in Remember Everything actually is spray paint, but I hope that at some point after joining the rebellion, Till picked up graffiti art (and does paintings of nature aspects or political art, that'd be so cool)

The way Till drew Ivan in Scars makes sense now. To me, it's as if there was a part of Till that had subconsciously blocked off Ivan's "true face" in his mind-- he was still alienated from the Ivan he knew as a human, but so haunted by what the ghost of him represented because Till was still seeing him through the lens of trauma. Till knows how to draw Ivan's face-- [just in case his art skills are up for question, I feel like he knows how to draw expressions just fine]. Instead, what was being conveyed was actually emotional avoidance. That changed when he truly got to reconcile with the real Ivan, who has a demeanor and an expression [a smile] only seen through Till's gentle memories, that symbolizes Till's honest perception of Ivan

#the drawing felt just a little cold didnt it?#as if he was just following command#not drawing out of sincerity or fondness because he still wasnt quite there yet#i hope he draws more of ivan so that i can see if this idea is realistic
