I fucking hate being traumatized because why am I bawling the hardest I've bawled in god-knows-how-long because someone I didn't even like that much berated Me. gasping wailing trembling and snotting over this for several minutes.
#personal#sanism#abuse mention#child abuse mention#I'm still not entirely done crying really. I'm just trying to stop and calm Myself. not doing well at the moment#because someone on the discord server mentioned trump's inauguration and I basically said 'I don't like trump either#but it's still important to keep pushing for change. who's in office doesn't change that' and he just. immediately escalated the situation#accused Me of not caring about oppression. I explained Myself further but he told Me to go fuck Myself and capped it off with#'you already admitted to being a fucking narcissist so why would i want to be around you' (exact quote BTW)#and I just can't stop sobbing. I don't know if I've cried this much since I was 13. I keep having to pause My typing because I start crying#I didn't hate him but I wasn't attached to him either. it's just that I have so much fucking trauma along these lines#so many instances of My mom putting words in My mouth. getting short-tempered with Me over benign remarks that I didn't understand#because I'm autistic. dismissing My opinions. making Me hide My feelings and issues from her#because she's made it clear that she doesn't trust people like Me#it's made Me have so much trouble handling even friendly social interaction. I've only just learned how to do that#I just can't handle having that same mistreatment forced onto Me by anyone else. especially with so little warning or build-up#and what makes Me break down even worse is the fact that I know I'll have to deal with him again#he wasn't even punished while this was happening. despite the server owner and other mod being online. the owner just said 'stressful day'#and the other mod started talking with a regular user about how it was uncalled for once he had already left the conversation#nobody even checked in on Me. even though I stayed online for a good half-an-hour afterwards. I only just logged off a few minutes ago#because the notifications from unrelated conversations started overstimulating Me#regardless. I don't even want to see him again. I don't want to be in the same server as him I don't want to talk to him I don't want to#but it's not a real formal server. it's a 'friend group.' and they've shown before that they prioritize keeping the peace#over actually punishing hostility. just a week or so ago I told them I wasn't comfortable with them using the R-slur#and someone freaked out over My complaint being 'politically correct' and left. he was brought back just a few days later. and before that#he had already derailed a previous discussion I tried to have about the word by sending gifs featuring it and redirecting the conversation#that sucked but at least it wasn't outright triggering. but I just can't stand the thought of having to be around someone#who treated Me so much like how My abuser has. that's the most I've ever had to relive My trauma because of someone else#that's the most anyone has ever mirrored it to Me. I just can't stand it but I know I'll have to be around him#I don't even know if he's gonna apologize. he's made it clear how little he thinks of Me as a human being. PLUS

People who side with Triton and criticize Ariel for rebelling against him miss the whole point of the story. I don't know what it is about Ariel in particular that many people online look for every reason to hate on her and justify everything that happened to her.
#ariel#king triton#disney#the little mermaid#meta#disney meta#i miss people tend to be very dismissive of disney princesses and their trauma#but ariel in particular gets an unhealthy amount of flack#i know she is just an animated character. i'm well-aware she is fictional but boy does the deliberate misunderstanding still drive me crazy#and not in a good way at all#mean**#these critics are exhibiting the exact same mentality and attitude triton and sebastian had towards ariel#and they don't realize it at all#the entire point of the story was about letting go of prejudices. understanding the other side. letting your child go and make decisions fo#themselves. it wasn't just about a girl who gave her voice away because she saw a hot dude or sumn#that is a very gross interpretation of the movie and her character#she wanted to make her father see that there was beauty in the human world and eric was the proof of that#that's why she said “you don't even know him”. she said that because she saw how kind he was to everybody his compassion his love his warmth#his willingness to sacrifice his life for his damn dog. his humility his dreamy nature#he seemed like the pinnacle of humans but also someone she could relate to. a guy who understands her#it wasn't simply because he was hot although that definitely played a big role in her interest because that man was designed to be a total#beauty but anyways i digress. i think of him as the piece that united everything#he was the missing puzzle piece so to day#although ariel is actually the bridge between both worlds and eric is the foundation that maintains it#you know what i mean?#that's the whole point. it's a beautiful story about understanding love forgiveness and overcoming prejudice

Me, going through my blog and seeing I left 'He's so Buffy to me' as a tag under a pic of Scott McCall: I simultaneously understand nothing and everything
#I hadn't seen Buffy at that point but I think I was specifically referring to the S1 scene#Where Buffy goes 'I'm 16 I don't wanna die'#There are a lot of teenage protagonists who go through hell and face more trauma than they should#But Buffy and Scott have similar flavours I guess?#There's a half-formed thought there about taking on responsibility#Not only for the newfound power you have (being a slayer/being a werewolf)#But also for 'civilians' getting in the way#And even your friend group#Even though they are also affected by the supernatural#But somehow you are still the one who has to carry ALL of the responsibility#Even if there are adults involved#It's such a jarring discrepancy and idk if it's down as obv in other shows?#Like in The 100 for example you still have the adults very much acting on their own and even dismissing the kids you know?#Also I'm not sure how many other shows have been as heavy about their protagonist dying (like. Actually being dead) for others#To protect people who don't even know them#They're both martyrs but they're also both 16 and it's very fucked up#Teen Wolf#btvs

Ironically the need to try to find something morally wrong with a thing to "justify" hating it, is the same thing that puritanical/extremist "Christians" do to "justify" hating something. If they dislike something or that thing makes them uncomfortably for xyz reason, then they decide that it must mean that thing is wrong/bad/evil/sinful. Many times they will bend backwards to try to make those feelings sound reasonable and fair, while doing poor research, or no research at all and just making up stuff on the spot without fact-checking.
I dunno, man. I grew up in a heavily religious household and still consider myself Christian, albeit a very liberal one, and there's something just so deeply ironic and scary seeing supposed liberals encouraging the same sort of reactionary culture that many Christian and so-called "Christian" spaces foster.
Sometimes you can just dislike something because you dislike it. Not enjoying something or even being uncomfortable or disgusted by it does not mean that thing is somehow inherently wrong or evil. Sometimes feelings are just feelings and there's no big scary moral reason making you feel that way. And that's okay.

#''this thing is evil because it's not for me/it makes me uncomfortable/disgusts me'' is unironically 10x more dangerous than#any subject or theme or aesthetic you could use in music/art/fiction.#bc while yes art can be in poor taste or even offensive#i do not believe art can tell someone to stop thinking critically#but encouraging yourself and others to dismiss something bc it gives you feelings you don't like?#and *having* to make up or find some moral reason to make you feel ''correct'' for having those feelings?#absolutely wrecking your ability to think critically and harming your ability to be empathetic toward people unlike you.#genuinely genuinely believe this and i am so serious when i say that people need to be careful and try to recognize that about themselves.#this is the kind of moral obsession and panic that *will* harm you and people you love. it is its own form of religious-esque trauma.#long post for ts

Allergies and Accidents
Summary: Y/n and Langdon's son has an allergic reaction at school and is rushed to the ER
Author's note: There are not enough Langdon fics on here so I tried my hand at it with this little scenario that came to mind. I have no medical knowledge so please don't expect accuracy with the medical details lol but I tried my best.
Check out my masterlist for more Langdon fics!
1:03 PM
McKay noticed Y/n immediately. Familiar faces are always the easiest to spot here - they’re the ones you never want to see. She came through the entrance frantic and pale faced, trying to squeeze through the mess of people packed into that waiting room tighter than sardines in a can.
“Alright guys, do a round and make sure no one’s dying before they get into a bed,” McKay instructed the row of interns following behind her like little ducklings.
Making a beeline to y/n, she eyed her up and down assessing for any possible injuries. No visible cuts or wounds. No signs of trauma or pain. Other than the obvious fact the poor girl was about to have a full blown panic attack, she looked fine.
“Cass! Oh thank god,” Y/n exclaimed, grabbing onto McKay earnestly. She had a vice grip and was not letting go until she got some answers.
“What’s going on, are you alright? What are you doing here?
“It’s not me,” Y/n said, holding back a sob. “It’s Theo.”
12:31 PM
Typing up his report on the college kid with pancreatitis in South 12, Robby settled into a chair. He thought to himself it must’ve been his lucky day. He barely got a chance to use the restroom let alone a chance to sit down. It was almost unheard of.
The thought alone must’ve jinxed him as Dana called out for him the second he got comfortable. He gave her a tired look over his glasses thinking, what now.
“EMS rolling in with a 6 year old male. Anaphylaxis. Low BP, dropping O2.”
“ETA?”
As if on cue the automatic doors slid open for two first responders wheeling in a young boy. He was wheezing, gasping for air. Jumping into action, Robby, Perlah, along with 2 interns opened up a room as the EMS gave their report.
“Six year old male, Theo Langdon. Severe anaphylaxis, failed EpiPen at school.”
The name caught Robby off guard. No, it couldn’t be. Eyes dropping down to get a better look at the boy as they transferred him from the stretcher onto the bed, Robby’s jaw went slack. Perlah who had come to the same realization looked at him wide-eyed in shock.
“Alright, we’ll take it from here, thanks guys,” Robby dismissed the responders before addressing their new patient.
“Hey bud, it’s Dr. Robby. I know you're struggling right now, but we’ve got you, okay.” Pressing his fingers along the boy’s throat assessing the swelling and looking for signs of a possible tracheal deviation. No deviation yet which was good, no need for immediate intubation. Using his stethoscope against Theo’s chest and throat, he listened closely for stridor and absent breath sounds. “Get him on continuous pulse ox, full cardiac monitoring. O2 status?”
“88% on 15L non-rebreather,” Perlah replied, adjusting the mask on the boy’s face.
“I do not want to intubate if possible, but if it drops below 85%, we have no choice. Get RSI meds ready in case we lose the airway.”
Pointing at one of the interns, Whitaker, Robby ordered him to step out, find Dr. Langdon and keep him away from this room by any means necessary. The intern hesitated, clearly confused by the request, and honestly a bit offended that he was the one to be sent off over the other intern. Gathering what guts he had, Whitaker spoke up.
“Dr. Robby, I’d really prefer to stay-”
“And I’d prefer that Dr. Langdon not walk in and see his son like this,” Robby countered without a beat.
A flash of understanding spread across Whitaker’s face as he rushed out of the room to do as instructed. Robby spared a quick glance out the doors watching the young intern weave his way through the bustle of the ER floor in search of said doctor. No matter how long you’ve been on the job or how much trauma and gore you’ve dealt with, nothing will ever compare to the sickening feeling of seeing a loved one here. And the last thing they needed in this room was another Langdon in distress.
Wrapping his stethoscope back around his neck, Robby stood up determination setting in. He was not going to let anything happen to Theo. Not in his ER. They needed to open his airways and stabilize him fast.
“Nebulized racemic epinephrine stat.”
12:40 PM
Walking back to the nurses station, Dr. Langdon was feeling quite pleased with himself.
A woman had been rushed in with a ruptured spleen and internal bleeding after a bad car crash. Distended abdomen, severe blood loss, BP dangerously low and on the decline. She was losing too much blood too fast. She was going to crash. She wouldn’t have made it to the OR if he hadn’t acted as fast as he had to stop the bleeding and relieve the abdominal pressure.
“The peritoneal lavage. The IV vasopressor. That was really quick thinking. I mean you didn’t even hesitate,” Mel thought out loud, joining him at the counter. “I’d never seen that much internal bleeding managed outside the OR before.”
“Yeah?” chucked dryly, “Well, get used to it.”
Only half listening now as Mel rambled on, he pulled out his phone and in an instant whatever high he was on after working on that patient was brought crashing down seeing his notifications.
15 missed calls, all from Y/n.
“Well do you think she’s gonna make it? In the OR I mean?” Mel asked, oblivious to the fact the man beside her was on the verge of mentally spiraling.
“Um, it's in their hands now,” he answered absently, gesturing over to the OR as he walked off leaving Mel to swallow whatever she was about to say next.
He didn’t mean to be rude, but whatever Y/n was calling about had to be something urgent. 15 missed calls. She never called him during his shifts. She’d text if she needed to tell him something. But even then sparingly and about little things, like needing to grab eggs and milk on his way home, or to update him that she and the kids got home safe. She never called. Not unless something serious was happening. His mind raced with the worst case scenarios as he paced down the hallway, phone pressed tight against his ear. Maybe she got into an accident again - she was always getting into little accidents and incidents. Or maybe she was having car trouble? But they’d just gotten both their cars serviced and paid a pretty penny for it too. Was it the kids? God he hoped it wasn’t one of the kids.
“Hello, Frank?”
“Hey baby, sorry I missed your calls. I had this patient crashing and-”
She didn’t give him any time to finish, cutting straight to the chase.
“Theo was rushed to the ER.”
12:49
“Vitals,” Langdon demanded, bursting into the room pushing right past Whitaker.
Really? Robby looked at Whitaker who could only shrug apologetically. He had tried his best to keep Langdon away, but the poor intern was no match for the senior resident who just moments ago had threatened to lay him out on the ER floor if he didn’t move out of his way. And Whitaker knew by the look in Langdon’s eyes, he was dead serious.
“You can’t be in here Langdon,” Robby shook his head, adjusting the ventilator settings, tweaking Theo’s oxygen flow.
“The hell I can’t,” Langdon bit back, moving towards his son. But Whitaker held his arms out, trying to block him from getting any further into the room.
“I swear if you don’t get your hands off me, you’ll be in a bed next,” Langdon said through gritted teeth.
“Do not threaten my interns,” Robby warned pointedly.
But the words fell on deaf ears as Langdon continued, asking how Theo’s airways are looking? If he’s getting enough steroid coverage. If they checked for biphasic anaphylaxis.
“You’re not his doctor right now,” Robby said, beginning to lose his patience, “You’re his dad. And you need to step out if you can’t control yourself.”
Langdon threw his head back in frustration. He was both for crying out loud. He was Theo’s dad and a doctor. And he’d be damned if he didn’t use his skills and knowledge to ensure the best treatment for his son. He was about to protest again when suddenly the machine's steady beeping began to go off, the alarms spiking. A cold panic coursed through Langdon’s entire body as that dreaded high pitched beeping filled the room.
“You need to push fluids faster. He's in distributive shock,” Langdon stressed from the foot of the bed watching the monitor show Theo’s BP dropping.
Robby cursed under his breath, adjusting the IV line. Although there were no rules against having family members in the room while patients were being treated, at times like this Robby really wished there were. Dealing with overbearing parents in the room was one thing, but an overbearing parent that happened to be a doctor as well was another.
“Fluids are running. Normal saline wide open. We can handle this.”
“He’s not responding fast enough,” Langdon pushed, “If this is progressing into refractory shock, you need to start the pressors now.”
Perlah turned to Robby, “Do you want to escalate to vasopressors?”
“Get the vasopressin push ready, but hold for my call,” he shot a sharp look at Langdon having had enough of him trying to control the room, “Don’t wanna jump the gun. We’re not panicking here.”
“Not panicking? My son could code, and you’re not panicking?”
“That’s it. Out. Now,” he snapped, raising his voice to meet Langdon’s.
“No,” he doubled down.
“Then I will have you forcibly removed and written up for insubordination.”
“Robby, please. That’s my son,” Langdon pleaded, running his hands through his hair, trying not to get a grip.
“And we’ve got him,” Robby assured. “Now, go. Let us do our jobs. Go.”
With a sharp exhale, and one final look at his son, Langdon turned to leave pulling his phone out to call Y/n.
1:07 PM
Following McKay through the double doors into the ER, Y/n gripped the strap of her shoulder bag tightly. She was putting on a brave face, but the worry in her chest grew heavier and heavier with each step. McKay tried her best to soothe the poor mother, but being a mother herself, she knew there was nothing she could possibly say to make Y/n feel any better about this situation.
Langdon, who had been pacing outside of Theo’s room, closed the distance between them the moment he saw her. Without a word, he wrapped his arms around her into a tight hug. Y/n let out a deep sigh, melting into him. Her heart that had been beating like a jackhammer was calmed by the the comfort of his presence and the warmth of his embrace. Pulling back to take a look at Theo, she couldn’t see a thing. The room’s curtains had been drawn.
“How is he,” she asked looking up at him, brows furrowed tightly together, worry etched across her face
Langdon had never seen her look so helpless before. She’s the strongest woman he knows - juggling a fulltime job of her own all while taking care of the kids and picking up the slack at home whenever he was late or working overtime. Even with her plate piled high, she was always composed, always cool under pressure. But all of that composure and coolness had flown out the car window as she sped from work to the hospital after getting that terrible phone call from their son's school. Before him now she was just a mother, scared and worried sick.
It was a good thing Y/n hadn’t gotten here any earlier than she had, that she didn’t have to see Theo struggling like Langdon had. Admittedly, he lost himself a bit back in the room seeing Theo like that. He knew looking down at her now he needed to keep it together. He could not give her any reason to stress or worry any more than she already was. Every other day of the week, she was his rock, their family’s rock. For once, he needed to be hers. He took a breath choosing his next words carefully.
“He’s gonna be alright,” Langdon said, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead.
She listened as he went on trying his best to assure her of just that, telling her that Robby was taking good care of Theo. That he’s in good hands. That they see kids come through with anaphylaxis all the time. That he'll be okay. And though he sounded confident, Y/n knew him better than that. She had the sense that he was trying to convince her of all that just as much as he was trying to convince himself.
Taking a seat on one of the nearby chairs, Y/n shook her head in confusion. They’d taken every measure they could think of to ensure something like this would never happen. They’d informed his teacher of the allergy, and sent out letters to the parents in his class informing them as well. And even in the case he did consume anything with nuts, they always sent him off with an EpiPen and always ensured that it was still effective.
“I don’t understand. The school said they’d given him his EpiPen.”
“It’s not foolproof babe,” Langdon sighed, running a hand over his face.
It was unfortunate but true. While potentially life saving, EpiPens are not 100% effective if not properly administered. They could’ve taken it out too early or maybe misfire, he explained.
“So you’re telling me this was what? Some sort of user error?” Y/n scoffed at the irony. It just goes to show no matter what you do or how prepared you are, you can’t control what happens out there. As hard as you try, you can’t protect your kids from everything.
“The better question is what idiot parent brought treats for the kids and didn’t bother checking for allergies,” Langdon said, growing upset at the thought. It was clearly stated in their parent handbook, all treats must accommodate any allergies and tolerances. Otherwise, don’t bring any. How stupid, careless, and dangerous. “You know, I bet it was those fucking Fultons. They don’t know how to follow basic instructions.”
About to go off on a tirade about the Fultons - whom he could not stand, for multiple reasons, but most recently because the father had cut Langdon off during morning drop off the other week - when the curtains pulled open.
Y/n stood up moving closer, getting her first look at Theo since she’s been here. He was lying still, eyes closed with an oxygen mask on his face, an IV still in his arm. Langdon placed a hand on her back, in part to comfort her and to ground himself, as a wave of relief washed over him seeing Theo stable and out of critical danger.
Robby stepped out to speak to them. He and Langdon locked eyes, a silent understanding passing between them. Any of the tension they had in that room was eased and forgotten. As a father of sorts himself, Robby knew where Langdon was coming from.
“Is he okay? Is he awake? Can he talk?” Y/n asked, the words just flowing out of her mouth as Langdon rubbed her back.
“He’s okay. He’s breathing on his own now, still on oxygen, but his vitals are holding steady” Robby assured her, before turning to Landon who looked at him expectantly, “His airway swelling has gone down significantly. No sign of biphasic reaction-”
“Residual bronchospasm? Signs of delayed reaction?” Langond interjected before he could even finish. Robby shook his head, more amused than annoyed.
“This thoroughness,” Robby said sarcastically, patting Langdon’s chest with the clipboard teasingly, “is why he’s one of my best residents.”
The pair chuckled, both knowing full well how Langdon can be sometimes. Robby went on, letting them know that they’re keeping a close eye on Theo, watching out for any secondary complications. His lungs sound clear and O2 are improving but they’re keeping him in the PICU overnight to make sure he’s in the clear.
“Can we see him now?” Y/n asked.
“Yeah. Of course. He’s still under some sedation, but should be up soon,” he told her, gently guiding her into the room.
1:30 PM
Theo had come-to for a little, just enough for Y/n and Langdon to let him know he's okay now, that they’re here with him, before his heavy lids closed again, falling back asleep. His little body surely exhausted after all it had just gone through.
Sat on either side of their son, Y/n and Langdon watched over him quietly. His gaze wandering over to his wife, he could see the toll this had taken on her. It was the middle of the day but her eyes looked worn, and hollowed like she'd pulled an all-nighter. And her lips, that were always smiling and laughing, were pressed into a tight frown. Her brows knit together so tight, the 11 lines on her forehead looked more like 1,111. The stress of your loved one being in the ER will do that to you. Weigh you down, wear you out, and age you a year in an hour. He sees it all the time. But he hated seeing it on his wife.
“He takes after you y’know,” Langdon started.
She perked up a bit at the sweet sentiment thinking maybe he was referring to their physical resemblance, or maybe the similarities in their personalities, or the little quirks Theo picked up from her. But when he said that she and Theo were both accident-prone, her mouth fell open at the jab.
“That’s not funny Frank,” Y/n rolled her eyes, chastising him.
“Oh come on, it's a little funny,” Langdon continued to joke, seeing her straight face start to crack. “I mean, god forbid, but if I'm not wrong Theo only needs one more ER visit to tie with you.”
She hated that he was making light of such a thing, but what she hated more was the smile she was fighting to hold in. She shook her head trying to fight back her own laugh but just couldn’t do it, not once she heard his. It felt good to laugh, even if it was hushed and contained as they tried not to wake Theo. She needed this. He needed it too. They both needed something to lighten the mood, to let out the long breath they’d both been holding in.
“No but seriously, take that back. Theo and I are not accident-prone,” she pointed out as their laughter died down.
Langdon nodded, agreeing that it wasn’t right to say Theo was accident-prone. His visits to the ER were never his fault. The first time was when he was just a baby for a fever that wouldn't go down. The next was a couple years later when he was a toddler for an allergic reaction as they hadn’t yet figured out he was allergic to certain types of nuts. And today, well, he wound up here thanks to some other kid’s parents' negligent disregard for the health and safety of all the kids in Theo’s 1st grade class.
Y/n, on the other hand, she definitely was.
“I am not,” she fought back, arms crossed, unwilling to admit to this.
“Babe, really?” Langdon asked, brows raised.
“Maybe I’m a little clumsy,” Y/n admitted reluctantly, “But I wouldn’t say accident-prone.”
Langdon scoffed. “Y/n, we literally met in the ER because you were in an accident.”
It was his third year of med school doing his rotation in Emergency Medicine. At this point he had already intended on pursuing Emergency Medicine and all of the hands-on experience he was getting only solidified that. It was the end of his shift but two buses had just come through - one from a car crash with two non critical patients and the other a factory worker coming in after a gruesome work related accident. Of course, he’d decided to stay hoping to get in on the much more exciting case with the factory worker. But by fate or dumb luck, whatever you wanted to call it, he wound up with Y/n’s case instead - cue their meet-cute.
“Then 4 weeks after that you ended up in the ER again,” he added now counting on his fingers for dramatic effect. “Then there was the time you fell trying that new-”
She interjected with "ah," holding up a hand to stop him from going any further. She did not need to be reminded of that particularly embarrassing incident he was about to bring up. She got the point.
“But hey, if you didn’t get into those accidents we never would’ve met. Never would’ve dated, got married, had our kids,” he said genuinely, his voice softening as he brushed a gentle hand over Theo’s head.
With fond memories of their time together, of how they ended up where they are now playing through both their heads, the air in the room felt lighter and so did the weight on their shoulders. A comfortable silence filled the room and for a moment, everything seemed to settle down when Y/n gasped suddenly.
“Shit, what time is it,” she asked, rummaging through her purse.
Jolted by her sudden outburst, Langdon hurriedly pulled out his phone for the time. 1:42.
Y/n let out a groan. She'd been in such a panic when she arrived, she couldn’t be bothered to waste another minute in the hospital’s parking structure going aisle to aisle hunting for a parking spot. So instead she haphazardly parked in the 30-minute parking stall for pick-ups and drop-offs. Y/n moved to get up but Langdon said he’ll take care of it.
“Are you sure,” Y/n asked, as he took the keys from her hands. Truthfully, she was glad he offered, not wanting to leave Theo's side just yet in case he woke up again.
“Yeah, you stay. Need some fresh air anyway," he said massaging her shoulders for a second, before leaning down to joke into her ear, "Besides, all this talk of you getting into accidents, I don’t really feel like letting you get behind the wheel right now."
"Asshole," Y/n muttered, shoving him away playfully but not before he could press a sweet kiss against the side of her head.
Watching as he left, she chuckled to herself. Maybe being accident-prone had its perks.

apologies, i'm still angry abt TUA S4
so, if we take out all of the blatant issues with the season (character assassination, 'resolutions' that create more plotholes than they solve, rushed scenes that make no sense, side plots that go nowhere, raymond vanishing for no reason, etc etc), what are we left with? let's see:
fatphobia (multiple jokes made about 'chubby Diego', when David just looks hydrated and healthy)
SA played for jokes (it's clear that Klaus having sex while possessed is supposed to be funny, but he's being held hostage and forced to do this for money, when we already know he didn't even want his powers back??)
cheating
problematic / borderline problematic age gaps (either way you spin it, either Five is physically 20-26 while Lila is likely mid 40s, or Five is mentally 70s while Lila is mid 40s; Aidan was 19 while filming, and Ritu was 34)
waiting for the actor to come of age before introducing a romance (we already know what some fans can be like over Five/Aidan, this will not have helped; I would be horrified if I found out the show runners had planned a romance arc with a coworked 15 years older than me and then waited for me to turn legal age to execute it)
sexism (i was reluctant to call it that but i also don't know what else to call it - Lila basically had her agency stripped away to become the love interest two men fought over; Steve wanted Five to have a romance and didn't care who with - use Lila simply because she was there)
complete disregard of character trauma (Klaus being buried alive despite it having been mentioned in every prior season that he was locked in a mausoleum by Reginald, including literally being left to die)
possible overstepping of an actor's boundaries (i've not been able to verify this, but i've seen it said that robert sheehan has requested not to do sex scenes?) (still havent been able to prove this; wasn't an issue with other roles so... hesitant to leave it)
actors requests being ignored (David asked multiple times if the Lila cheating sideplot was required, but clearly it went ahead anyway)
bad cgi
that awful vomit montage
Reginald (im not quite calling it abuse forgiveness but uh. it's not far off tbh)
i don't even know what to call this, but basically told the Hargreeves the abuse they suffered was their fault because they shouldn't even exist??
what did i miss? (im sure there's something)
from the replies:
the song in the ep3 dance scene uses a slur for romani people (and is also about a man and an underage girl)
SA dismissal (it's literally never addressed that Allison SA'd Luther last season. like, at all. everything's just a-okay now!)
more sexism (Allison's arc was also reduced to serving men; there's a single line to explain that Ray left, with no mention of why (i could go OFF about this but this post isn't supposed to be about mishandling of characters); even after everything, all her bonding with Claire comes through Klaus's storyline. also, Sloane is just gone and nobody gives a shit - Luther has one line and that's it??)
so many issues with consent (all of the girls shown in the place Klaus works look drugged / Klaus doesn't want to be there and doing any of that, it's all against his wishes / they all get their powers back against their wishes - although they do tell Ben that wasn't his choice to make / Klaus gets his powers back against his will when Allison is pressured to do it to save his life)

My take on sexual trauma, kink, and its intersection with queerness is already being dismissed by other non-terf blogs as 'white person wanting to be oppressed more' when i don't think i would have anti-assimilationist views this strong if i hadn't engaged with the thoughts of black women & queer people as much as i did. like that's what redpilled me on the inherent whiteness of 'passing' in the first place, the other intersections besides queerness along which people are ungendered against their will. im not going back.

btw if you think "fakers" in plural communities are a legitimate pressing problem that needs to be fixed and is actively harming plural communities at large, i really think you should step back and find some perspective. coming from a collective with DID that has been fakeclaimed on many occasions for various reasons, we need you to ask yourself these questions:
(A) who are you accusing of being fakers? what characteristics are you looking for to determine if someone is faking? (B) do you know for a fact that they're faking, or are you just assuming they are because they don't act "plural enough" in your eyes? (C) is there anything similar between you and these (apparent, so-called) fakers that others might use against you? (for example, having too many introjects, having introjects of a particular type/source, having too large or too small of a system, having too much or too little communication between your sysmates, having too much or especially too little amnesia/dissociation (especially if you have a CDD), having certain comorbid mental illnesses (personality disorders, schizo-spec disorders, psychosis in general, etc), having or not having certain kinds of trauma (especially if your system is traumagenic in any way), etc) (D) do you think people theoretically faking plurality themselves are leading to people not believing plurality exists or believing its so rare, or do you think it's more likely that the pervasiveness of fakeclaiming others and choosing not to provide benefit of the doubt is what's leading to people dismissing plurality as something fake or too rare for them to ever be concerned with it?
and finally:
(E) do you think people who are actually faking plurality (who are most likely doing it to get attention or find a sense of community/friendship) will suddenly stop faking because you chose to be cruel to them, or could it be possible that it's more likely that they'll be more willing to listen and change if you're kind and respectful and offer compassion to any true struggles they might have?

Touching on Gale, Wyll, and Halsin's traumas being a bit undermined in parts of the fandom
So one thing I notice on Twitter is how some people act about the bg3 characters whose abuses were perpetuated by women.
Gale specifically for this reason (but I will touch on others)bbecause I see him dismissed super often as "can't get over his ex".
But Gale's case obviously be has the line of Mystra being like "she was my muse, my teacher, and then my lover" and sure to some that's a red flag in itself (when it comes to adults I don't really give a fuck about teacher/student) but if you view it from not only Gale's own words "ive been connected with the weave for as long as i can remember"
And that doesn't distract from his genuine love of magic of course. And it also doesn't mean that he's actually been in connection with mystra for an amount of time.
However, if you ascend Gale, and he becomes a god, you get a bunch of new little things. Tara reminiscing of course, but you get a letter from Elminster, detailing that Mystra had Elminster scope out Gale when he was eight!
And sure is that pretty cool that he's a prodigy that got the attention of the goddess of magic at that age? Yes. Mystra is, however, known in forgotten Realms lore to seek young young boys who are in tune with magic to make into her chosen. And from context clues, her chosen can be anything from Elminster and Volo, dedicated wizards who try to keep things in check, etc etc. or they're somewhat of playthings to her.
Minsc also has a conversation where me mentions that weave-touched boys in his homeland were hidden away to hone their craft, then suspecting that it was because of Mystra, given Gale's case.

Gale always seems so proud that he got to bed a goddess, and on the surface, hell yeah, that's cool.
Gale continued to have her attention even as he went to Blackstaff Academy, and Mystra eventually did take him on as an apprentice directly to her, later making him her chosen, and sleeping with him.
The reason it bothers me that people dismiss all of Gale's stuff to just "he can't get over his ex" is because that's is like almost textbook grooming? She was in his life from a young age, shaping and moulding him up as he grew up to be her perfect chosen, rewarding him by sleeping with him, and so on. And then of course casting him away when he has his folly with the netherese orb (and to be fair, it very well could have looked like to her that he was trying to seize the power himself and yes the orb does siphon off weave. That is a problem for the mistress of the weave yes).
But she also tells gale to KILL HIMSELF for her forgiveness.
Gale is much more than "unable to be over his ex" this woman was in his life since he was a kid. She's almost all he has ever known. If course it's going to be difficult for him to 1. Say no to her. 2. Get over the fact that he's lost someone that he spent his literal entire life dedicated to. Honestly if asked, I don't even think Gale would acknowledge or really see that what he went through was, in fact, abuse until it was spelled out in front of him. (Which does happen somewhat with the player character pleading to him that killing himself for mystra's forgiveness is actually horrific and that he should in fact be angry for how he was treated)
Similarly, and this one has been discussed a lot, Wyll and Mizora. Wyll was 17 and actively trying to help his people. 17, in a vulnerable state, willing to do anything to help and prove himself. Mizora very clearly took advantage of him, and regards him as a "pet", refers to him being "leashed", and so on. Personally, I do dislike the sexualization of their relationship, because it very much is also grooming (although a different type. Rather than manipulating and shaping his life from the ground up, she takes advantage of a vulnerable and desperate state to manipulate and contract Wyll into doing her bidding. I won't go too deep I to this one because it has been discussed to hell and back. But I did wanna touch on Wyll's situation as well.
Also, Halsin as well, though that has also been discussed in many retrospectives by a very good friend of mine. Halsin's trauma often get dismissed due to his polyamory, open sexual nature, and his own somewhat diminishing/dismissal of it, which honestly I love the representation of, cause for a while I did that with my own trauma. Halsin was a sex slave to a house of Lolth-Sworn drow, a matriarchal society, where the men are generally used as fodder or for breeding, though male Lolth-Sworn drow can be wizards and rise in the ranks if wizardry, but are limited everywhere else. (Minthara mentions that the third male, and every subsequent male child after third are killed for being"useless"). Halsin often referred to them as "hosts" rather than being captors, (though he does touch on that if the Player Character threatens to sell him back into slavery). Again, everything I'd have to say here for Halsin has entirely been discussed top to bottom by a friend, their link is below!!
Anyway, long story short, I dislike it a lot when Gale, Wyll, and Halsin's traumas and abuses get diminished, even if/when the character themself doesn't see or acknowledge the abuse in the same lens that we, the players, do.

You know what really hurts about Faifa. His care is genuine. No matter how many people the attention is divided towards, it always comes from a genuine place. But the issue with people that have such a bright light about them is that it is very easy to dismiss their care because it's not special. He smiles to freely, cares too casually, offers help too easily so it's taken for granted.
"This is just the way he is" is so commonly thrown around like it's a bad thing even in the show. Like being a caring person in this horrible horrible world is not the hardest thing to do. And so when everyone says "he doesn't know how to love", it seems even Faifa believes it, like he's also not being genuine somehow.

You cannot ever convince me Faifa doesn't know how to love when he actively tries to be the one positive person in everyone's life. He makes sure that no matter what is going on in their life and how unacceptable they feel they know that they are loved. Whatever Faifa's intentions, he's the guy that asks if they're okay, if they need anything and does it for them, and that matters.
But they dismiss all of it- because "that's just how he is". Like it doesn't take active effort to notice people and make them feel seen and appreciated. They think it comes naturally to him- like this wasn't a skill that trauma probably taught him, because they don't care to learn more. It makes me mad for him!
Yotha is so shocked that Fa needed advice from his dad about people because Faifa had to grow up so fast that he hasn't had to ask for advice before!! He thought Fa had to be the one who's heart was broken.

Funny thing is. It's been broken for a while. His mother abandoned him. That's the kind of heart break no kid ever gets over. Fa didn't even get a chance to be angry about it. (Funnier thing is if you think your brother is heartbroken, Yotha, why tf aren't you doing something about it?? You know damn well he would.)
And this is obviously going to be the central conflict of the FaifaWine love story, right? When your light shines so bright no one will ever truly believe they are special. Despite Fa being clear as day about the way Wine makes him feel, he's still going to offer himself as a rebound - a practice run- until ig Tor comes back into Wine's life.

Faifa will fight for everyone except himself. So I don't think he'll fight to have Wine, i think he'll fight for Wine to be happy even at the cost of his own happiness. That comes from a genuine place too. And it's going to be so heartbreaking to watch.
And Wine runs away from all his problems. So he isn't going to confront Faifa to explain his feelings. He's going to be stuck in the dark believing he's just another person who gets to be in Faifa's aura receiving all his kindness. BUT IT IS GENUINE AND WINE IS SPECIAL. The question is, how is Faifa supposed to convince him of that?
They are so perfect for each other. They need each other. But they are also going to be in their own way.
#perfect 10 liners#why do i have so many feelings about faifa#fuck if i know#but hes been here rent free for a while#i feel like if i dont get the catharsis of someone being mad on faifa's behalf or actually see him in this arc imma riot#thai bl meta#thai bl#gmmtv#faifawine#faifa p10l#wine p10l#juniormark#junior panachai#p10l#perfect 10 liners the series#bl rants#bl meta

I want to talk about one of the most terrifying and interesting bsd characters who almost no fan remembers.
This character nearly tore down the ADA without ever getting involved herself, yet the entire fandom has ignored her because of her terrible anime adaptation.
Who am I talking about?
Nobuko Sasaki
If you haven't read Dazai Osamu's Entrance Exam, then you probably don't even know who this character is, in the anime she is watered down to the lovesick girlfriend of an actual villain, and you probably dismissed her immediately. But in the light novel, we get to see how dangerous and cunning she really is, to the point she nearly gets the better of Dazai and almost causes the ADA to be shut down. (Fukuzawa says he would have closed the agency if they hadn't caught her)
In terms of intelligence I'd put her on the same level as Mori, just slightly below the super human genius characters i.e. Dazai, Fyodor and Ranpo
The Azure Apostle
For those who don't remember, Sasaki was the Azure Apostle, a mysterious figure who challenged the agency with several horrifying cases, which would all lead to mass casualties if the agency failed to stop them. These were; uncovering an underground organ smuggling operation (which the agency failed to stop and which massively hurt their reputation) stopping a bombing of Yokohama port which could have killed hundreds of people, and preventing a commercial aeroplane from crashing into the city (this was not included in the anime)
Each of the people, who committed these crimes, had no Idea they were being manipulated and thought it was their own idea the whole time. There was no evidence that anyone else had been involved at all, and the agency had no way to connect her to any of the crimes. And she even makes the genius move of framing Dazai, the mysterious new member with suspicious knowledge of the underworld and a hidden past, as the true culprit.
In fact, she only made one mistake, challenging Dazai. If Dazai had been basically anyone else, they would have been cornered and arrested, but since Dazai's mind works on a level even master strategists can't imagine, he was able to turn the tables on her.
But even after Dazai sees through her plans, the ADA still has to act exactly the way she wants them too and stop the plane crash. Even when they know they're being manipulated, they still have to do exactly what she wanted.
Finally, after Dazai and Kunikida confront her and get her to admit to being behind all those crimes, even then they are powerless to stop her.
Even after being involved with so many massive crimes, Sasaki herself hadn't done anything illegal, so within the law the ADA is completely powerless to stop her.
They can't arrest her, and if they try then the agency will be put in even more danger as will many innocent lives. She has completely trapped the ADA, and even Dazai in a choice to follow the law and let her go or take justice into their own hands and prove they will stoop as low as she did.
In the end, there she has them in a perfect deadlock, let her continue her mission, or kill her themselves. Both are bad outcomes for the ADA.
In the end, Dazai has her killed by using a third party (Rokuzo) to shoot her, so the agency can't be blamed for her murder, though this ends her plans it deeply scars Kunikida and shakes his resolve in his ideals.
The trauma from this event still haunts Kunikida to this day, we see that when he is affected by Q's curse, Sasaki is who he sees.

So thats the Azure Apostle, a terrifying master mind who nearly brought down the Armed Detective Agency, but now lets look at the other side of this character.
Nobuko Sasaki Herself
We know several things about Sasaki as a character and her history from the light novel. That she was a brilliant criminal psychologist and was internationally recognised despite being so young
,that she was the ex-lover of the Azure King and the real mastermind behind his plans, and that she had very little motivation of her own.
That's not meant to be an insult to the character, she says herself that she never really had much direction in life, even with her incredible intelligence she never really had anything she wanted to achieve.
But the Azure King was the opposite, he had powerful drive and strong ideals, he wanted to punish criminals who couldn't be touched by the law and when he failed to change the law as a bureaucrat, she offered him an alternative.
A very important thing here is that neither of them were manipulating or forcing the other into this path, as far as we see they genuinely loved each other, each providing something the other couldn't, Sasaki her mind and the Azure King his drive.
When the Azure king died, Sasaki had no path of her own to follow, so she simply kept following his, even though she doesn't seem to have really cared about his cause.
All of this creates a very unique character, you can't say she was driven by revenge, because she wasn't really driven at all. It's more like she was running on momentum, she had chosen a path to follow and could not stop even though there was nothing pushing her down it any more.
She's a perfect antithesis of Kunikida and was the best possible villain a light novel about him could have had.
A man who brings his ideals into reality with his own hands against a woman who uses others to enforce ideals that were never hers to begin with.
Anyway, I made this because Sasaki is criminally underrated in this fandom, If you haven't read "Dazai Osamu's Entrance Exam" I highly recommend it, I've only put a tiny fraction of the amazing story here.

what do you think is the answer to dealing with the stereotypical “roommate won’t do dishes bc of trauma/sensory issues”? like sure that’s possible it’s difficult & people should be aware of their needs, but when it begins affecting other people, i feel like someone has to consider other solutions—i.e. using paper plates instead of ones they have to wash. it’s also complicated when racial & gender dynamics come in to play. and then when i think on myself as an autistic white trans guy how can i both recognize where i need support but balance it with not recreating bad dynamics? I’m just not sure how we have these conversations while still validating folks experiences & dismissing their problems. we all deserve help but we also can so easily overly rely on others & burn them out especially if we have privilege over them. disability, especially invisible disabilities often become a shield for white folks & men it feels like to get away with shitty behaviors
I honestly think that a big problem people encounter in navigating such issues is that they make what is ultimately going to have to be a personal negotiation of limits and needs into something that is far more symbolic and abstract. it's almost impossible not to, if you care about social justice issues, and I think there are good intentions when people try to be mindful of how race and gender alongside interplay with this stuff, but in practice a lot of times people use their political ideals as a reason to argue against their own feelings or to not be honest about their feelings. people feel like they don't have the right to say that they cannot do something or need support, or that they're pissed off, in an individual level relationship, because they are treating both themselves and their roommate or partner as a symbol of an entire group. I think a person has to be able to tell their roommate when they are being an asshole. I think a person should just be straight up if doing the dishes is something that's not generally going to happen for them -- in unmasking autism I profile Reese Piper, an autistic sex worker who just straight up tells her prospective roommates that doing the dishes is not something she can do, so then they know what they are getting into and can work around it. honest conversations about what a person is and is not capable of and what they need really can vanquish a lot of so-called weaponized incompetence and other domestic issues long before they occur. but all parties involved have to be operating based on good faith. unfortunately not everyone is, sometimes people use their identities or their roommates guilt around structural oppression in order to pressure them to do things that they cannot do, and conversely it is very common for a white or TME roommate to weaponize anti blackness or transmisogyny against a roommate who speaks up about any inequity and portray them as the aggressive one. but I think before somebody gets way way too much in their own head about how a particular conflict looks or what structural issues might be relevant in the aggregate, they really have to start from a baseline level of self-acceptance and the ability to articulate both which household tasks are hard or impossible for them, and when they are fucking cheesed at their roommate for not doing what seems like their fair share. if you feel like you can't name those things, you're never going to actually have a respectful functioning relationship.

Let's appreciate how complex Agatha's relationship with Billy is

GIF credit to @isagrimorie
The genuine emotion brimming from Agatha in this moment is very interesting and I really want to break down all the layers of how Agatha is relating to Billy—because it is truly not as simple as Agatha feeling sentimental or motherly to Billy.
There are a few layers at work here (and I also want to give a shout-out to @trickofthelights for her excellent recap points):
Billy reminds Agatha (enough) of herself
There are two driving forces at the core of Agatha as a character. We know this because her characterisation has been incredibly consistent throughout the show and Schaeffer has talked about them, which is: (a) Agatha is self-serving and (b) Agatha loves powerful witchcraft.
Billy is a powerful witch who did a horrifying thing in order to survive. He's been lying to these wonderful parents. He also just tried murdering three people in a fit of rage, provoked by Agatha no less.
Would Agatha care if he was less powerful? Would Agatha care if he didn't have a dark side? If he hadn't shown to be duplicitous and dangerous and subject to his darker impulses?
If he wasn't alone and without a coven, a possible outcast even among witches because of his unusual origins and power?
I'm pretty sure the answer is no, she would not. She would have dismissed him the same way she did his "Teen" persona. Agatha doesn't care about witches, Agatha cares about powerful witches –because that's who Agatha is and what drives her.
And we also got hints of this with Agatha and Wanda (hello consistent characterisation). In Schaeffer's words:
There is respect and almost affection inherent in [Agatha's interest in enormously powerful witchcraft], as indicated by how she felt about Wanda. She was mean to Wanda, but really she was fascinated by Wanda and admired her and wanted to hang out with her.
And if this wasn't clear enough, what Agatha tells Billy shortly later about breaking the rules and being a true witch just screams projection (more on that in my next point).
I was delighted that Agatha really did bounce back from the attempted murder – but it's not because she's forgiving. Oh no, I think, Agatha was testing her theory by poking the bear (calculated move, bad at math) and she's glad she was proven right.
I mean, she not happy about the attempted murder but her curiosity wins out. You see her poking at Billy and trying to figure him out in the rest of this scene.
Agatha also hates self-righteous moralising and searches out for the darkness in people – delights in it even – because she knows people and she knows her own darkness.
Billy is different but also not so different from Agatha, as much as Billy or his mom would hate to admit.
Agatha is dealing with her childhood trauma
Yes, Agatha is projecting on Billy, but she makes a choice about it. We hear her telling him what she would have wanted someone to tell her: that they shouldn't be afraid or ashamed of who they are or what they did to survive, that they are part of a community.
Don't you dare feel guilty about your talent. ... That's what kept you alive. That's what makes you special. That's what makes you a witch.
She's trying to be the person she needed when she was a child, because she simply doesn't want someone else – particularly a younger witch – going through what she did.
She doesn't want anyone to go through what her mother put her through. And that's a choice.
Because there are a number of ways a character can deal with trauma: they can lash out and bring others down, wanting others to experience to the pain they went through, or they can realise that what happened to them shouldn't happen to anyone else in their position.
There's something beautifully self-serving but also selfless in that, because this is a way for Agatha to heal from her trauma. She can tell Billy things she may not be able to tell herself.
And it's interesting because as a self-serving villain, Agatha could just be jealous of Billy's power. But in this moment at least, Agatha's empathy and compassion – as buried as they usually are – prevail.
And yes, Agatha was fond of kid Billy
This is what Schaeffer touched on in her interview answer and it makes sense, with the insight that Agatha – like any good actor – does invest a bit of herself in every role she plays.
Agatha does have feelings (as much as they might make her vomit) and I do believe she has a soft spot when it comes to kids, given her experience with her son and her own childhood trauma. And that kids don't have the level of hypocrisy and darkness that adults do.
It makes sense that Agatha would have some level of care about the Scarlet Witch's magical kid Billy. And that is a fondness that has carried onto teenage Billy – who is powerful and a survivor and has a potential for darkness in a way she can relate to.
There are layers and they intersect and it all ties back to how Agatha is incredibly complex and yet consistent as a character.
#agatha all along#agatha harkness#billy maximoff#aaa meta#tv: agatha all along#as a general rule if you think one thing about agatha harkness#you're probably wrong#she's almost always more than just one thing#she is mean because she wants to protect herself#but she also genuinely enjoys it#she can regret killing#but also not give a fuck about it#she can be a master tactican and chess player#but also a dumbass driven by ego and hubris#(and she can be a top and a bottom)

First-Year Overblot pt. 2
The battle's over. The Overblot's been defeated, even if it was completely unexpected.
How did they get here? Why did they Overblot together, when it's something done alone?
Ortho was Idia's Phantom, but their circumstances were unique.
So how did they get here?
At the end of the day, it was really their faults. They didn't see the stress that all of the Overblots piled on their first-years. They didn't see how hard they worked together so that they wouldn't lose each other.
They didn't see how close they were to each other, how much they grew to love each other, how their greatest fears were all losing each other.
They didn't see the first-years, and that was their mistake.
At the end of each Overblot is a memory sequence. A monologue. A reveal of how they got to this point.
Yuu's the only one who knows what happened in everyone's memory sequences, but they all know that they exist. The Overblotters remember them and whisper what happened to their trusted ones in the middle of the nights when they can't sleep.
How did they get here?
For the others, it was years upon years of culminated trauma. Of everything piling up until that one moment when everything broke and came crashing down.
For the first-years, it's one singular year. The best and worst years of their life.
It started with Ace, Deuce, and Yuu. A few bad choices, a broken chandelier, a mine, a monster, an adventure that leads to life-or-death from a school director.
Something that should have been safe.
The first cracks started.
Then came Riddle. Sure, it was Ace's bad choices that led to him getting kicked out and Riddle's mother's fault for Riddle's complex about the rules, but still.
This was a place that should have been safe.
Leona. Yuu getting blackmailed by the director. People who should have been safe being not. Riddle apologized, yes, but that doesn't erase the red in Deuce's nightmares, the rose bushes that would have killed Ace if not for Trey's timely intervention.
Somewhere along the way, Yuu's hands find their way into Ace and Deuce's and just stay there.
They meet Jack. They don't know if Leona and Ruggie know this, though they suspect they do, but Jack overheard their conversation after he was dismissed. Where they talked about what they should do about him, as if he wasn't someone that they were supposed to keep safe.
The world feels so dangerous, but it feels a little safer when they're together.
Azul. Ace and Deuce made bad choices, again, but they remember what happened the last time they got Riddle angry. The red lingers in their nightmares and on their clothes and the rose bushes sometimes make them flinch when they see them out of the corners of their eyes.
Jack helps, even though he wasn't obligated to. Yuu's hand clings to his when their other sources of stability are gone. He never complains and sometimes, when it feels like neither of them can breathe, he squeezes back.
Jamil. They weren't there because they couldn't figure out what to tell their families, but Yuu felt like they were drowning the entire break. Like they couldn't breathe without their anchors.
Ace and Deuce race back as soon as they hear that Yuu's in trouble, even through all of the transport issues that they have to go through. They come back after everything is over, yet it finally feels like they can breathe again.
Vil. The poison still lingers slightly in their veins. They look darker, a shade or two slightly darker than before. Sometimes, they feel weaker than they were before.
They wonder if Vil knows that, if he knows that he left a lasting effect on them even when the others didn't.
Somehow, they don't think he does.
They meet Epel and he slots right into their group like a missing piece. Like he was supposed to be there the entire time. His hands squeeze back even with Vil's displeasure about how close they are and the PDA they show.
They don't care. It helps them breathe and it loosens the tightness in their chests and the world feels less harsh, less dizzying, less dangerous when they're not alone.
Idia. The Overblotters are missing, but the only thing they really care about is that Ace and Deuce are in the Infirmary. It feels like they should care about the Overblotters, but they know that all of them still have nightmares of red staining their clothes.
Why should they care, when they made them like this.
Yuu's hand squeezes Epel's as tight as they can and he squeezes back just as hard.
They were looking for Jack when they found Rook, and it was too good of an opportunity to leave. They write a note for Jack and wish that they could speak to him before they're off to save people who leave red, red, red and black blot hanging in their dreams.
Ortho. He says he has a soul after he got fixed by Idia and he starts hanging out with them. They wonder if it's because he's tired of the expectations he has from everyone else on how he should act.
It doesn't matter. At the end of the day, he fits right in. His hands are warm from all of the energy he's using to keep himself powered and he squeezes back every time.
Malleus. They're all in each other's dreams because they care enough about each other at that point. It hurts to leave each one behind but they're not real and the lack of red and black shows as much.
Yuu doesn't think they've ever squeezed so hard when they reunite with Ortho.
Sebek. He was resistant to their efforts at first, but the red and black got to him too. Sometimes, he's shaking in the middle of the night and it feels more familiar than it should.
Somewhere along the line, they started training. Started practicing, because when was the next one going to come? When was the next threat to their little unit, their little family coming?
They just didn't expect it to extend to their schoolwork as well. Their magic is honed, perfected, made as powerful as possible. Is it any wonder that their grades are perfect too?
It just... hurts, when they realize that they haven't been paying attention. That they haven't been seen. That no one notices the bags under their eyes and the way they squeeze each other's hands tightly.
They crumble when they see each other. Because as much as it hurts that they're not seen, it hurts even more that none of them are. Because it just proves that they're not good enough to pay attention to.
The world starts to crumble and black fills everything despite how much they hate it.
This is their seniors' fault.
Everyone's fault, for not paying attention, for not noticing the way they squeezed each other's hands tight enough to break bones, or the way they relaxed whenever they saw each other.
Even in their sleep, their hands find their way together and squeeze and they look more peaceful than they've ever looked before, piled on top of the same hospital bed because they insisted, unconsciously, on not being apart.
They wake up muttering about black and red and all of the Overblotters know it's their fault.

a lot of my friends and a few people who are a lot more eloquent than me have rightfully pointed out the growing racism in the tlou fandom. and usually i would've reblogged one of their posts. but i find that whenever those posts get traction or notes or agreement, all those amazing people get absolutely swamped by tone policing, scathing, dismissive hate anons and racist vitriol at worst. this is a reminder that if you think BIPOC creators are "doing too much" or they need to "relax" and "just don’t engage, instead of ruining everybody else's experience", then you need to take a step back and think about why your entertainment is more important than their shared painful experiences.
The few posts you've seen floating around are not because people called out the racism and zionism within the tlou— BIPOC people aren't out here for funsies trying to snatch toys. Many wonderful blogs kindly shared informative, educational, well formed resources to better understand the last of us and the harm it was inflicting on minoritised communities. They never asked you to not engage with the content or to stop watching, they only asked that you consume it with awareness and without letting it inform your worldview in a way that could be harmful. and MANY blogs decided to take issue with that by vaguely posting about it:

which then grew to overtly posting about how everyone was ruining your fun:

Being so utterly dismissive of the experiences and labour that BIPOC creators have performed to educate you and help you is wildly insane and at the end of the day immensely racist. They didn't owe you the hand-holding, spoon-feeding experience, but i've seen them go above and beyond in their efforts to connect and explain. And if they are short, angry, and upset then they have every right to be after you called them 'losers with dog shit takes'. They aren't butthurt over uwu fandom community things, you've been directly racist to them.
They called out the harmful themes in a media we all consumed. You took that as a personal assault. And decided to shit on them because you didn't know how to deal with feelings of guilt and being wrong other than to be viciously defensive. This is something that was unsurprising and we see it almost everyday. But don't you dare claim yourself or your blog as a safe space for nobody if you can't sit with the fact that sometimes we're wrong about things. All some of y'all had to do was say, "damn that's crazy, not gonna line their pockets but can't help reading these great Joel Miller fics." Or "Yikes, i know this stuff is problematic but that guy looked so hot." And call it a day. You can't tell me that show is SO life changing, so sublime, that amazingly written and shot, that you guys are going down fighting for it. So, at this point, you're just fighting for your privilege to place your comfort, your entertainment and your enjoyment over the trauma, experiences and labour of the BIPOC community.
