2024 WRAPPED⋆˚ 𝜗𝜚˚⋆
₊˚⊹♡TOP LESSONS LEARNT
Missing out gives you progress on your goals. So many times this year, I didn’t do things that I usually would’ve loved to do to make and maintain progress on my
goals. Simple things like cancelling plans, buying certain things and any other short-term pleasures. Allowing myself to overcome FOMO, and in return, I saw great progress in my goals.
People hating you has nothing to do with you. I dislike a lot of things because it's my personal preference. Someone who decides to hate you is a matter of their preference. However, if they choose to show that hatred to you, it's a matter of projection. People will project onto you as a way to cope with their own life, cause they can’t deal with their own.
Stop letting everything control you. Truly, you’re held back from nothing in life. Your circumstances, identity, environment and more can only hold you back so far. At one point, you’ve gotta start acting and stop blaming everything around you on why you can’t. This one… is still in progress for me. I do feel like my parents are a major factor in me being held back, but deeper down, I also feel that it's an excuse to not work up to my potential.
Trying to fit in is fruitless. I wear and listen to what I want. I decide what kind of content I want to consume, and what food I want to eat. This generation is notorious for tearing down anyone who doesn’t fit in a cookie cutter. Allowing your authenticity to shine through, will guide those who are meant for you, to you!
All problems are temporary. This one does not apply to everything, but it applies to a lot of things. Your issues will not last forever, so don’t let it leave a permanent mark on you. Don’t let your situation deter you from your goals.
₊˚⊹♡ACHIEVEMENTS
It's small, but I feel like I’ve created my room to be fully intentional for me. While it still can be improved, my room is much better in terms of clutter and decor compared to 2023.
Consistent practicing soft social skills like keeping up small chats, giving compliments and handling disagreements gracefully. I ended the year with all B’s! Last semester was a bit of a flunk for me, but I managed to pull it up for the end of the year.
Saved like 500$ for purchasing things off my wishlist.
Read like 12ish books for 2024. Would’ve loved to read more, but I was in a reading slump and also didn’t have enough time to go out to my local library to borrow any books.
₊˚⊹♡HABITS / RITUALS
In bed by 9 pm, up by 6 am. Sleeping early has made me feel a lot more energised in the mornings, and I find that it's easier to get out of bed and continue with my routine. The later I slept will more I felt sluggish for the next day + waking up earlier hay motivated me to stay on top of my routines.
Daily walks after school. It gets my steps in, but it's a nice way to debrief after school and regather myself before heading straight into studying. I sometimes do walk home, and it's great to plug in my earphones and just not think.
Journaling. I preach it for a reason, as journaling helps plenty. It can help you to shift your mindset beliefs, identify self-sabotaging behaviours, allow us to truly reflect on who we are and see progress each day in our lives.
Lighting candles more frequently. It's such a little habit, but it brings me so much joy. Usually, they’re just collecting dust as decor however when I started to use them, I loved the whole experience. The smell and the small warmth that it brings are just perfect for the ambience.
Curating my social media. I have an absolute maximum of 5 hours per day, but I still want those 5 hours to count for something. I’ve redownloaded TikTok earlier this year, and I think it’s a great platform for looking for advice and inspiration. Creating a feed that works for you instead of the other way around, will definitely change how it influences you.
Having alone time in the morning and at night. I need this time to myself to slow myself down and regather my thoughts and it's just what I look forward to, to get through the day. I usually do whatever I like in this time slot, on the condition that I am completely by myself, free from any tasks or distractions.
Cleaning regularly. When I did a deep clean last year, it would just be vacuuming my room and wiping down all visible surfaces. That is good, but there’s a lot more to clean than you realise. One major thing that we forget to clean (yet is probably the dirtiest) is our devices. Wipe down all screens every single day!
₊˚⊹♡BEAUTY / FASHION TIPS
Turn down the toilet seat when you flush. The amount of times I’ve been in public toilets and flushed with the lid up is outrageous, and I just can’t believe that last year I didn’t even consider the bacteria that would fly up on my clothes or even my face. Not a major skincare tip, however, er I think this would affect it.
Know your undertone. I would only use undertones to know what kind of jewellery fits me, but it goes way beyond that. Before I start, I would like to say, don’t buy any more clothes or makeup just because they don’t fit your undertone. If you like your confidence will override any undertone clash. I used to walk around with really yellow makeup, and the difference when I got a foundation that had more of a golden undertone was like day and night. The same applies to your clothes. Warmer clothes will complement me, becausI’m’m warm-toned. So, I tend to stay away from cooler tones. I don’t use colour seasons, Is anyone wondering?
Stick to a palette that you like. Last year, I wasted so much money trying to experiment with new colours in my clothes and makeup, just to end up hating it. It’s also a bad consumerist habit, to buy things for your fantasy self. So today, I only buy clothes it's the colours I like and I only purchase makeup if its shades fit me. I’m not saying buy anything new, but keep it to a minimum to reduce waste and save your money for the things that you like.
Avoid fashion inspiration with faces. Highly attractive people can pull off anything, quite literally. Their face can influence subconsciously them ly to love the outfit, even if the outfit is ‘bad’. So, when saving pictures from Pinterest, TikTok or magazines, avoid any outfits that show their face. I said avoid it as sometimes you just really like an outfit and you know it's nothing to do with their face, which is okay.
₊˚⊹♡YOUTUBERS
JIlLZ GUERIN - Focuses on feminine energy, lifestyle and intellectual habits. I recommend her as many of her videos are new and fresh perspectives.
SANDY DIANA BANG - Mostly productive vlogs that inspire and motivate, with a sprinkle of wellness, health and beauty content. Her channel and vibes are so aesthetic too!
ROSIE GRAHAM & LIDIA MERA - Both are fitness influencers that focus on pilates. Their workouts are so good that they always leave me sweating and strained (which is good!! lmao). If one of your goals for 2025 was to start working out, I would use their videos.
THANK YOU BUBU - Another fitness channel that is one of my time faves, and they have a variety of exercises that target abs, glutes, legs and arms. Another channel I would recommend if I was starting to exercise again.
MINA LE - She does research and creates video essays on various topics, which many videos I feel are relevant in current times. She’s great if you want to expand and explore new perspectives.
HALIEY GAMBA - She’s for a more matured audience, but she’s such a hidden gem. All of her advice ly new things, not just the same things that have been rinsed and repeated.
KELLY GOOCH - She’s a beauYouTuberber who mainly discusses the beauty industry and its products while recommending some. She’s one of the only beauty influencers who I will listen to, as I feel like her opinions aren’t constantly swayed by sponsorships or promotions. Even then I would still take any beauty opinions and advice with two cents.
ELLE CHU - A smaller, but underrated beauty influencer. She discusses a lot of beauty products whether they’re worth it, overhyped or overpriced. She does sometimes talk about the beauty industry, but those videos are infrequent.

NJUTA by NIKI BRANTMARK. All about the Swedish art of enjoying the present. If you feel like you have a simple and unexciting life, I recommend you read this.
SPARK JOY by Marie Kondo. A popular decluttering book that uses the KonMari method that emphasises items that you want to keep, instead of focusing on what you want to get rid of.
THE HEALTHY MIND TOOLKIT by Dr Alice Boyes. This is the ultimate guide of mindset shifts to target self-sabotaging or destructive beliefs and gives strategies to overcome them.
MINDFULLNESS ON THE GO by Jan Chozen Bays. A collection of little mindfulness practices you can do almost anywhere, almost anytime.
MY WISHES FOR 2025
To join any club at this point. It's hard for me to do anything outside of the house with my parents' schedules, and I do feel like it has eaten at my social life and the experiences, lessons etc I would gain. At first, I originally wanted to join so it's something I could put on my university application, however, I’m entering year 10 with absolutely no extracurriculars since year 7. (for anyone not down under, I'm talking about high school grades.)
Expanding my social circle. I feel like I don’t have a secondary community outside of school, and it's definitely what can amplify my slumps or depression without having that one person I can talk to freely, without the worry of school. I feel like I’m making no sense here.
Moving anywhere. I want to move schools, cities, countries, or whatever. Being in the same school since year 2 (elementary) has taken a toll on me.
A million dollars. Very unrealistic, but I still want it! I feel like money is the only thing that can actively change my life at this point.

a day at the beach, with your girls, was exactly what you needed to distract your mind from the weight of the whole situation with rafe. the combination of sun, laughter and alcohol brought a wash of calmness over you that you hadn’t felt since you’d arrived in outerbanks.
the sun began to set on the island, golden hues reflecting off of the water; a beautiful image of a sunset right before your eyes. that’s when you knew, it was time to go home.
you headed back to the comfort of your grandparents’ cozy home, your bikini still damp and the scent of saltwater lingering on your skin.
before sitting down with your grandparents, you excused yourself to shower — desperately needing one, to wash away the sand and tension of the day. feeling refreshed, you slipped on a pair of flowy, silk pyjamas; they were long, but their design allowed for air, making them perfect for the warm nights in obx.
you nestled yourself into the armchair, joining your grandparents in conversation; only the warm glow of the lamp beside you to light the room.

Conclusion
Social media has a wide range of complex impacts on different people. Moreover, Our results showed that a large number of people either personally experience negative impacts or see them in people. However, given the short time we had to complete the research, we were not able to identify a direct and clear reason. With more time and research we hope to be able to draw stronger results.

whaaat?? ive heard this a lot actually, like he’s the one everyone bashes. for what, tho? he seems so quiet on social media and he doesn’t have an active yt channel anymore so what’s he doing that causes people to have a go at him? is he kicking puppies on a secret insta acct I haven’t seen?

Ooooh boy is that a loaded question, lol.
I do want to say for the record that Colby also gets a lot of love, and a lot of attention. He is a magnet. I equate him to a bug light, and everyone around him are just moths getting sucked into the light.
It's scary lol.
But anyway, with that love and that attention and that obsession comes a dark side. A lot of people are obsessed with him on the hate side of the scale, whether it be because of jealousy or insecurity or just fomo cause they can't have him or whatever, there's just a lot of hard feelings there sometimes to go along with the love.
He's very polarizing, I guess. People will either jump in front of the train for him or push him onto the tracks. No in between.
Now, he has gotten himself into some controversies here and there - nothing earth shattering, but there have been some things that have happened over the years that he's had to address and correct. And he does; he addresses stuff and tries to smooth over ruffled feathers and tries to fix things. And while that's nice, in some cases, it also kind of shows people that he has this desperate need to be liked and he will try his damndest to stay liked, and that just brings some sharks circling around from time to time. There have been some really pointless "cancelations" that have gone on over the years, and Colby as the pretty popular one who is desperate to please tends to take the brunt of it.
Sam skates cause Sam usually ignores shit (present situation excepted), but also cause people tend to be so obsessed and so focused on Colby that they kind of ignore Sam or even actively protect Sam at Colby's expense. That's also part of the resentment bred against Colby, btw - some people think that in order to lift Sam up, Colby has to get knocked down. So they treat Sam with kid gloves on one hand while consistently holding Colby's feet to the fire with the other. To me, that defeats rhe purpose, cause you're still just obsessed with and showering more attention onto Colby. But whatever lol.
There are also people who just don't like Colby, whether because of some of his past controversies, or because they don't like his personality or whatever...which is fine, like whoever you like and dislike whoever you dislike - but because he's so damn magnetic, they can't just stay away from him. They gotta hate watch him with the hopes that they can witness his downfall in real time, which means they're waiting for something to happen that they can use against him at any point in time.
Anyway, the reason Colby is so quiet on socials these days is because years of this shit (and the death threats and the meddling in his life and the bullying disguised as "jokes") got to him and he pulled way back for his own sanity and mental health. I actually don't know if that did more harm or more good to the way people treat him, but that's why he's not as active on certain platforms anymore.
That was super long and kind of all over the place, sorry! TLDR: he's a polarizing figure with a magnetic personality that makes him way more popular than some people think is warranted and has a weakness in the form of a desperate need to be liked.

Never has society paid attention to teenagers' psychological issues as it does today. Depression, self-harm and suicide are rising among adolescents, these issues have always existed but are rapidly increasing due to social media, identity problems, along with many others. Three decades ago, teenagers' problems came from drinking, drunken driving, teenage pregnancy and smoking. These have since fallen and been replaced by a new public health concern: soaring rates of mental health disorders. In this text I will explain how social media and identity issues can affect teenagers mental health.
Social media creates an illusory environment for teenagers. This crisis is often attributed to social medias, as well as other problems like lack of exercise and sleep, wich all combined result in a cognitive implosion: anxiety, depression, compulsive behaviors, self-harm and even suicide. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “In 2019, 13 percent of adolescents reported having a major depressive episode, a 60 percent increase from 2007”, many other data support the existence of these crises that require a lot of attention. On social media people select only their achievements, fun experiences and positive moments to share. Which means that these people are not necessarily feeling the same way they appear to in photos. Therefore, not only an idealized image is created for both men and women, but also a perfect life image, and both can’t truly be obtained, only through filters, photo editing, and curated photos.
Social media has an important role in making teenagers feel confused and excluded. Never have teenagers been so disappointed because they don’t follow neither the ideal body image created nor the perfect life that others appear to have. As a result, this disappointment causes many psychological problems, leading to bigger and more dangerous issues. Eventually teenagers might feel left out or inferior if they are not partaking in similar activities or achieving the same level of success, resulting in FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) and isolation. This phenomenon happens to almost every one that uses social media, creating a rather unhealthy environment.
Teenagers experience a period of identity exploration as they seek to understand themselves that can affect their mental health. Some time ago the term teenager didn’t exist and the transition from child into adult was sudden, nowadays everyone is familiarized with the idea of a transition period lived by teenagers. Children are used to follow everything that their parents tell them to, but teenagers are different, they have much more autonomy and independence to start acting by themselves. During this period teenagers seek to understand who they are, their values and their place in the world. As a consequence, they might face an identity crisis, struggling to discover who they are and what their beliefs are. This uncertainty can lead to anxiety as they try to balance their self-image with society expectations and pressure.
Gender identity can influence teenagers mental health. Not much time ago the existence of other genders was completely denied by most cultures and religions, but nowadays it is becoming more and more accepted throughout the world and people are openly speaking about it, consequently teenagers are led to question their gender orientation. This is not a problem itself in most cases, nevertheless, in specific ones, it can transform into serious mental health issues. Gender dysphoria is defined as a feeling of distress or discomfort in individuals with gender identity confusion; these individuals might face many other challenges created by society, like bullying.
Teenagers' mental health is related to social media and identity issues that teenagers experience. As presented, they go through a lot of things as they get older, and naturally, they might face some issues that can be intensified and turn into more serious problems. Therefore, it is important to be open-minded regarding these issues and provide support for teenagers who are facing problems and need attention.

Peer pressure is a very normal phenomenon most people experience in one setting or another during their lives—whether in school, the workplace, or in their social circles. It could be positive or negative as it moulds our behaviours, beliefs, and decisions. Therefore, understanding how this phenomenon impacts our lives, be it in its positive or negative implications, gives one the confidence to go through it.
Understanding Peer Pressure
Peer pressure defines influence by other peers wherein somebody believes something in his mind and acts to feel belonging and approval from such peers. It is known to be associated with adolescent years when one is really prone to social pressures who seeks approval and tries for that feeling of belonging. Peer pressure does not also vanish after adulthood; they only become less intense as they can manifest in any social circle, the work place, and even family expectation.
Types of Peer Pressure
Peer pressure comes in different forms:
Positive Peer Pressure: Peer pressure is not always bad. Positive peer pressure could motivate the person to adopt good practices such as more study, exercise, etc.
Negative Peer Pressure: Negative peer pressure means the sort of influence exerted by one's associates that convinces him/her to accept and perform harmful acts one would otherwise despise smoking, bullying, etc.
The Psychological Impact of Peer Pressure
Peer pressure appeals to a basic need for acceptance. As social beings, our desire to fit in may be strong. However, this need for approval can sometimes lead us astray from our beliefs or objectives. Some psychological effects of peer pressure include the following:
Reduced Self-Confidence: Compares with others may lead the students to have self-doubt and lack of trust in themselves, which builds up fear of belonging with others.
Fear of Missing Out (FOMO): social media can exaggerate any activity of friends, and the majority would experience FOMO, as such activities are not similar to that which they experience.
Stress and Anxiety: Being under pressure to fit in can be mentally exhausting, especially if one has to make decisions that run counter to one's convictions.
Lowered Self-Esteem: Because they cannot defend their beliefs, some people may feel less valuable because of their incapacity to withstand peer pressure.
The Dark Side of Peer Pressure
Individuals suffering from the consequences of unfavourable peer pressure tend to develop an opposition against some aspect which was against their ideals and boundaries. This has shown some examples through people.
Risky behaviours: During adolescence, children tend to do unsafe things in an attempt to fit in. This ranges from drug usage, alcoholism, and other dangerous practices that end up making a person drug or school grade addict but get the person face to face with legal situations.
Mental Disorders: Stress, anxiety, or depression may occur as people perceive themselves as not meeting social or physical ideals due to pressure to achieve the same.
Loss of Self-Identity: Continuous submission to peer pressure can cause a loss of self-identity and reduce him to being less conscious about what he wants, likes, and dislikes.
Economic Pressure: Supporting a lifestyle or social life as well as peers could create economic stress, particularly if it involves spending money which is not readily available.
When peer pressure drives individuals to make poor decisions, the consequences can be lasting, affecting their health, self-image, relationships, and even their future.
Long-Term Effects of Peer Pressure
The impact of peer pressure is not necessarily something of adolescence. It affects adults too, in other different ways, and sometimes unexpectedly influences life decisions. For instance:
Choice of career: Youngsters often choose careers not by genuine interest in them, but perhaps because it is liked or recommended by friends and relatives, or because someone is doing so, leading them to such a future later in their lives.
Lifestyle decisions: Friends can have a say in decisions relating to lifestyle, marriage, and family. Decisions that do not help an individual are born from the urge to live according to expectations set by society.
Financial Decisions: Adults may feel pressure to perpetuate a certain lifestyle or buy houses or cars to hang out with friends, even if it means piling on a lot of debt.
How to Handle Peer Pressure
Developing strategies to handle peer pressure effectively can help individuals stay true to themselves while maintaining positive social connections. Here are some steps to consider:
Self-awareness: When you know your values, strengths, and shortcomings, it is easy to identify what kind of peer pressure may make you deviate from being yourself.
Self-confidence: Self-confidence becomes an automatic defence mechanism against harmful influences. Saying no to activities that feel wrong is made easier when one is confident in his decision-making.
Select Positive Friends: You can limit the adverse effect of unsatisfactory peer pressure by being in a group of people who respect your boundaries and your growth.
Know How to Say "No": Being assertive is a good thing, but not often easy to do to resist peer pressure. Start off with small decisions and graduate to more candidly communicating your thoughts.
Final Thoughts
Peer pressure is an involved factor. It might be either positive or negative and has an important role in life, but more so, this should be something realized to further develop one's self and own well-being. It is not meant to be an argument point for eliminating it since practically impossible, but to recognize and respond to it according to the values and life objectives.

CHAPTER 1: ON DARK PLACE
A summary of the book Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? by Dr. Julie Smith
“I don’t feel like doing anything…”
You see, I enjoy zumba and fitness dance a lot, but when I’m in a low mood, I just can’t seem to get up and move my body to the music. Even scrolling through YouTube Shorts or any social media feels like a chore for me, despite having a bit of addiction to it. I bet most people might relate to that feeling somehow.
We just don’t feel like doing things we usually enjoy. Basically, we feel like sh*t.
I recently picked up this self-development book again after a while. It's gotten kind of dusty in the bookshelves since I chose to read novels instead lmao. The book is a mental health self-help book written by Dr. Julie Smith with the title Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?
As Dr. Smith wrote in her book, she believes that what we feel is not just a result of our brain, but ‘it’s everything you do and don’t do’. It means it doesn’t just come all of a sudden, especially when we feel down. While receiving a gift or hearing good news can bring joy and good mood, experiencing low mood also comes from various unpleasant aspects of our lives such as from our habits, diet, relationships, career, living conditions and lifestyle. In fact, when we give in to those unhealthy habits and actually do that, it will just make our mood worse.
When we get stuck in that vicious cycle, our judgement becomes blurred and we think that nothing will change even if we try. Even more so, we end up hiding them away; avoid addressing them, and just bottle them up until we numb ourselves. That’s not a good way to cope with them, for sure.
Dr. Smith said that we actually have power to influence our emotions; meaning we can work on our own wellbeing and take control of our emotional health. She also said that our emotions are not fixed and don't necessarily define who we are, they’re only sensations we experience.
So if we feel physical and mental discomfort which often result from neglecting our sleep for screen time or anything we do out of FOMO, which are obviously things we cause ourselves, that surely would get us feeling low. Yet these are habits that we can change.
How?
First, we should be aware of all things that are influencing our experience; such as our thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and actions. It’s necessary to be aware of them because essentially these aspects come simultaneously to create our experience. Thus, we’ve got to break them down and recognize them one by one, so we can find ways to help ourselves.
This figure may help us understand how those aspects influence each other.
At first, noticing each of those aspects in detail wouldn’t be easy, but once we get familiar with what’s happening in our body and mind, we can broaden this awareness to looking at what’s happening in our environment, relationships, and how it’s affecting our internal experience and behavior.
We can ask ourselves these questions to help in recognizing those aspects:
When I am feeling this, what am I thinking about?
When I am feeling this, what state is my body in?
How was I looking after myself in the days or hours leading up to this feeling?
Is this an emotion or just physical discomfort from an unmet need?
There are a lot of questions, but sometimes we can find the answers, while other times, we cannot, and that’s totally OK.
To wrap it up, we have the ability to control our emotions, but it doesn’t necessarily mean those negative emotions would just vanish. It does need time and effort. By recognizing what’s happening in our body and mind, as well as everything around us, it will guide us to find ways so we can bounce back to feel like ourselves again. Have faith in yourself!

For a moment, the importance of smartphone detox
I have been using a smart phone since 2013, my first phone was an lg optimus phone with a small and handy touch screen. Instagram Facebook, twitter, instagram and other applications at that time and my interest in exploring the world through the internet.
So enjoy it internet entertainment and can interact with people outside the city and abroad. The difference in time and region does not seem to be a barrier to getting to know each other and exchanging news and information. Know everything that happens in the International and domestic world, politics, news, finance, showbizz, cinema, culture, language, food, health, and many other things.
But over time, I realized something different was happening. From addiction, addiction, anxiety, and fears themselves caused by smart phones. Anxiety that arises when away from a smart phone. Anxious because the entertainment we get instantly through social media platforms is replaced by Real-World Entertainment. Like being present and enjoying all the activities we do.
The distraction of social media account application notifications, preaching through the air and my attention was distracted and focused on the sound of my smart phone notification.
Because with the ease and presence of smart phones in addition to helping human access, which brings human social interaction closer and keeps social interaction close.
The real annoyance in this day and age is that we hang our needs and happiness on our smartphones.
As reported by various studies and websites, the emergence of anxiety, addiction to gadgets and smart phones, increasing mental health issues in children, adolescents and adults. Nomophobia is when someone is away from their smartphone. Whether it's the concern of other people will ask how we are, or we are worried about not updating and losing information and other up to date news.
Fomo (Fear of Missing Out) where the fear of losing news from friends and others whether it's scrolling social media and the latest news from anyone we follow on various social media platforms.
These drugs,addictions and more became a real nuisance to me. Therefore, I think I need to pay attention to mental health and other things related to my dependence on smart phones. The time that I spent and the real attention that I was able to divert from the world of the internet to the world that I'm facing right now. Returning full awareness of my thoughts, feelings and things that I can control to things that are real and anchored in my limbs.
Present fully the soul, mind and heart in the present moment, this moment and now. So that my mind doesn't wander to things that are out of my control.
The step I will do during the smartphone detox is to switch to my old nokia phone, which can only be switched to sms and my phone can still communicate.
As for related to projects or emails that I still use and whatsapp or others, I can go to internet cafes once a week to just open messages and reply to incoming emails and check other things that are closely related to work or if there are urgent things, then the choice is to borrow my mother's cellphone related to other important things that are needed.
Entertainment such as scrolling social media can I switch to other things such as gaining new skills through non-internet activities, such as going to the library, meeting friends and taking them home, reading books, cooking new dishes, exercising more often, learning new languages, journaling by bringing notebooks and pencils. Practice new skills and evaluate habits that need to be changed or improved. As well as being able to connect with yourself and others in a fully conscious and more productive and not anxious anymore
