Combating the Clickstorm: Taming Online Harassment in the Age of Algorithmic Influence
Is there a time you have been going through the scrolls of social media and drowning in a bog? It's like everywhere you look there is nothing but bad emotions, fights, and a whole lot of drama. Perhaps bullying or mean remarks have come to you via online communication. In case that way, don't think you're the only one. Social media may be great connection tool but it could just as soon turn into a toxic one. Just through the click of a button will we be able to spread our minds, feelings, and photographs of our lives to access the whole world. However, beneath the surface of curated feeds and endless scrolls lies a darker reality: social media poison. While these platforms provide an innovative way to connect, speak up, and express ideas, they also create a place of breeding ground for negativity, polarization, and psychological trauma. The social media burden of cyberbullying and online harassment, up to misinformation and algorithmic echo chambers, contaminates all social networks and forms the character of our offline relationships. In this ever-changing realm, we must explore the delicate impact of social media on our mental well-being, our relationships, and the fabric that holds our society together.
Taming the Wild West: Effective social media governance in the digital power struggle
Social media outlets become multifaceted platforms for discussions, disagreement, and growth, but ownership and management of this industry bring a lot of complexities with it including the control of freedom of speech and online bullying. This governance is critical, for social media which usually is the main trick in the bag of resources, speech, and trade is going to demonstrate the dilemma between free expression and online well-being, which are conflicting. People fight for power while platforms struggle with restricting freedom of speech and removing content from the platforms. Companies and advertisers deal with treacherous waters where it is unpredictable that something harmless can also be harmful. Developing user regulations can help build a caring society within social networking platforms and guard against cyberbullying, in which way digital communications would spread positive interactions. However, threat of the internet libel is strong and cannot be ignored by the governance structures that are struggling to adjust to the rapid online culture. Proper social media governance is based on the formation and implementation of various control systems such as the legislative process, and the implementation of etiquette and safety measures for the users which ensures ethical communication channels where user privacy values are respected. The main elements are policy formulation, education and training, monitoring and supervision, and transparency and accountability, which provide for specification, implementation, and troubleshooting procedures.
Standing Up to Online Harassment: Building a Safer Digital Community
The internet has become an indispensable instrument in the communication, educational and expressional aspect of today's life. However, alongside its many benefits, the online sphere harbors a troubling phenomenon: cyberbullying. From unkind remarks to malicious doxing, the range of online harassment is growing and severe. Online harassment includes many forms, such as flaming, doxing, trolling, and cyberstalking, all of which are distressing and harmful to mental health. The anonymity and remoteness of the digital world enable the perpetrators when they focus on the people without thinking of the consequences. The effects of online harassment go beyond the screen with the victims having high levels of fear, stress, and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). In extreme cases, cyberbullying will even escalate to physical harm, creating both a threat to the individuals' security and overall well-being. According to a Pew Research Center survey that was conducted in September, 41% of U.S. adults admit having gone through at least one of the six forms of online harassment that were examined (Vogels 2021).
Lack of Online Safety Laws: A Vibe Killer for Children and Women
The fact that there are only 21 countries that have child cyber harassment laws enacted evidently indicates the time urgency of integrating a comprehensive legal framework into the digital space (Reyhanne et al. 2023). Moreover, despite the fact that less than a third of countries having laws to protect women from cyber harassment, there is still a need for wider legislative safeguards to make the Internet to be safe for everyone (Reyhanne et al. 2023). There exists a huge hole in the legal protection of the children and women in a digital world. The primary reason for the lack of specific cyber harassment laws that are customized to address the situation of these vulnerable groups by only a few economies is disconcerting. It brings into the focus the necessity to develop holistic legal regimes which will protect individuals, especially children and women, from cyber abuse and harassment. The digital room must be a safe area for all people to move around without being afraid of being harassed or harmed. Thus, the need for broader legal guidelines that will protect the safety and well-being of absolutely every online user is evident. The answer is for the governments and policymakers to make a priority of the forming comprehensive laws and regulations to tackle this problem adequately.
Algorithmic Violence: How YouTube Silences Victims and Empowers Abusers
The recommendation algorithms by YouTube are key as we talk about bullying online with very specific topics having large fan bases. These algorithmic recommendations, adjusted to showcase videos within a viewer's history, sometimes end up promoting harmful content aligned with the viewer's interests. Subsequently, those who fall victim to smear campaigns might face a hard time interacting with YouTube or find themselves in posts that name them to be defamatory or abusive. Whether it is an innocent how pet videos may activate harassment functions, which reinforce this pattern. By accepting harassment, victims are de facto fictionalized from the platform, unless they allow their abusers to continue profiting at their expense. Further, criticism may mistakenly stoke up the bullies and hence end up as a hindrance to further engagement. Bridle very correctly calls YouTube's recommendation algorithm 'structural violence' as it not only supplies harmful content but also helps make money (Bridle 2017, 2018; Hern 2017). What is more, the algorithms of YouTube act as the base of an alternative influence network, amplifying extremism and providing the grounds for the spreading of harmful online communities (D’Anastasio 2018; Lewis 2018). This study shows the adverse effect of algorithmic bias that creates a vicious cycle, which leads to the expansion of radical groups and the continuance of online hatred.
OVERALL: Managing social media might be difficult, but with all that, it is not impossible. Together we will be able to develop a more civilized online environment, which provides a secure place for everybody. To sum up, being a good digital citizen is too essential for the digital community’s health. We should try to establish a space where power is about healing rather than inflicting hurt. First of all, let's be careful with using insults, rather than taking a step back and considering who each of us is. Do they have this right? Many show poisonous conduct, but we can counteract negative energies by focusing on the positive aspects of our lives.

From Pixels to Popularity: Esports & Streaming Take Center Stage
The Evolution of Esports: From Niche Hobby to Global Phenomenon
Throughout the last 10 years, esports has had an unbelievable growth, by which it has driven from an obscure entertainment form to the most attractive event in the world. Nowadays, it evolved from the time when it used to be the domain of hardcore gamers to a sport that is watched by many people, sometimes even more than any other form of entertainment and brings in money. In fact, this is a multi-billion dollar business already (Dr. Alexander Schudey et al. 2023). The tremendous development of eSports is based on a lot of reasons: technological innovations, many stream channels and the popularity increase among young people. Now, the esports world is more diverse than ever before with a very wide range of gaming genres, platforms and even indie games and virtual reality platforms. Nowadays, the entertainment industry is larger and more solid than before since there are millions of viewers, generous sponsorship deals, and the existence of many professional esports leagues. The best is still in the future as esports continues to grow and become even more dominant.
The Impact of Game Streaming on the Gaming Industry
Game streaming has totally changed or flipped the coin on what is possible with our interaction with the gaming content, and now any gamer is able to broadcast and capture his/her recordings in real time (Sirotin 2024). Platforms for example Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and Facebook Gaming provide a level playing field for the Creation of game content viewpoints so that the production of the game- content is possible even if an avid gamer is able to transmit their depts of love for games to the whole world. Yet another area of the gaming industry not left untouched is that game streaming has had a similarly far-reaching effect on game development, marketing strategies, and player engagement aspects. These days game developers can thus not only communicate with the community but also retrieve comments and revive the experimentation spirit through project websites and networks. In addition to the foregoing, the career of streaming has highly increased in income not only for reputable gamers and content creators, but also for the top streamers who bring in tens of figures in income from subscriptions, donations, and sponsorships. Although the development of game streaming contains uncertainty, the impact it has on the gaming industry will also keep pace with the times. Therefore, what will change is that the models related to gaming production and delivery will be revised.
Why Esports is the New Spectator Sport We Can't Get Enough Of?
There is no question that esports is the ultimate magnet, which is evident from the approximate number of viewers and followers that take center stage from all corners of the world. The main reason for the popularity of esports is that it is easy to get to know it because all one needs is just to have an internet connection and then be free to watch any live competitions and matches. Furthermore, esports has the same level of excitement and spectacle as the traditional sports that fans get to witness such as supreme rivalries and gripping finishes that make participants unite to watch each match till the end. While esports is increasing in popularity, its impact on the entertainment sector and mainstream culture is clear as the whole world worldwide is still witnessing its existence.
Ctrl+Freak Out: Why We're Obsessed with Watching Games (Even When We Don't Play)
The rise of watching people play games may seem a surprise to some, but the popularity of it is evident. Finally, I would like to answer, why we spend so many hours watching other people playing a game? The mystery lies in the remarkable features of gaming websites and the engaging entertainment they bring on. Seeing gifted players master intricate obstacles, display impressive tactics, and actively take part in the adrenaline rush of the competitions all come as satisfying as playing the games ourselves. Besides the content creators of gaming often put their own individual touch to their stream, this gives viewers pleasure from joking, telling stories, and commenting.
Độ Mixi
Do Mixi is a well-known streamer who has many followers currently. Therefore, the Do Mixi YouTube channel which boasts of close to 7 million followers not only confirms its existence but also its popularity and capability to attract digital traffic through posting long-term video streams which generate millions of views (The Influencer Vietnam 2023). Do Mixi has been taking action in the past year to rethink its attitude and come up with more up-to-date projects that do not provoke and epitomize controversy. He is part and parcel of the philanthropic domain. Being a public figure, he effectively utilizes his platform in fundraising for good causes which ultimately leads to rewarding community projects. Take the current male streamer, for instance. Every year he is going to use his December donated money to do charitable work in the mountains’ highlands, with the projects and gifts for the localities in difficulty. Thus, they may take place during the last month of the year when plenty of young people and fans are active in contributing to Do Mixi, which is a means of making society a better place. Ultimately, she made a journey from being hated to becoming a well-respected leader in society, teaching everyone to live with the power of redemption and a second chance.
my "real" personal experience
At one point, gaming was my passion. I used to spend hours upon hours playing games, totally engrossed in the exploration of the virtual world. This routine was rather familiar to me as I often played till late in the night and would check for any gaming updates several times a day. Thus, video games eclipsed the importance of the other parts of my life which ultimately turned out to be bad for my health both mentally and physically. My general well-being was compromised due to sleep deprivation and progressive eyesight problems caused by excessive screen time. There was a point in time when I got so carried away that I even failed to complete my other important tasks. Nevertheless, soon enough, I found myself to be back on track. I do not underestimate the fun and benefits of gaming. However, in recent years I became aware of moderation and boundaries while playing.

Don't Get Filtered Out: Finding Authenticity in a Filtered Reality
The Double-Edged Sword of Filters: Elevating or Deceiving?
In the digital era, filters - with their often high-profile use to improve photos, videos and real-time live streams - have become fashionable (Rettberg 2014). Nonetheless sitting under the magic-looking blankets is a two-edged sword with several consequences that may not be ignored. To start with, with filters, we achieve a sort of magic beauty that hides flaws, strengthens the good sides, enhances self-confidence and provides unique visual effects that will make the posts with such photos stand out on social media. Doing so not only reveals a taste in the style but also helps to be updated with the fashion trends. As a person who often uses filters and as a fact, I am sure such digital beautification can create an "illusion" effect. To illustrate, taking the extra time to wipe off my makeup and display my bare face, sometimes I would come upon myself devoid of brightness as well as disappointment. Therewith I can be dissimilar just like I would have been if my face was carefully fashioned by makeup. This transformation will, probably, raise my confidence and let me feel more secure when I am willing to show my photos on social media sites. Nonetheless, I cannot cease to notice that filters are a way of presenting a fake image that leads to a comparison of someone's self with others and to display "perfect beauty" in the eyes of other people. Nevertheless, filtration has its drawbacks as it deforms the actual images, causes distortions of beauty standards, makes young people experience self-efforted activities, and makes them more self-conscious and suffer from poor self-esteem. In addition to that, the overuse of filters to hide one's self-real appearance can lead to difficulties in building relationships and cause developed users to depend on filters, grow insecure about their current forms, and even immerse themselves into social isolation.
For instance, the case of Biluo, the Chinese or online phenomenon, who was followed because of her angelic voice and handsomeness is also an example. On other side of the coin, a video live stream is airing; she is exposing her true face by accident, and many users are exiting the stream, she is losing followers (Spectrer 2019).
Hence, the deployment of filters has to be handled with care and such action should be only taken if the person utilizing them knows the impact of those artifacts on user's psychology.
Beyond the Filter: How Faked Beauty on Social Media Hurts Our Self-Esteem
Social media filters that can perfectly remove blemishes like pimples, bring out the best parts of themselves, and even add makeup virtually just set up an impossible standard of appearance. The comparison made in most social media platforms between users and social media influencers creates a perfect persona that is false to real life, causing self-esteem and confidence issues in individuals ( Beauty A List 2022). When we finally achieve becoming a part of these flawless photo shoots we find ourselves trapped with derTerms and a deep discomfort with what we perceive. Unceasingly being exposed to manipulated visuals can indeed ruin our personal investment in beauty and compromise our self-identity. When looking into a mirror we might see the most honest version of ourselves and possibly feel discouraged or uncomfortable as a result of our natural features. A person may develop an unhealthy body perception issue, accompanied by a negative self-image, with more negative emotions in the young population, which is still under development. Besides that, the extended application of filters may inure you to the extent that you feel unpleased with your own face or body since what you see are the ones that are not true.
Embracing Authenticity: Redefining Beauty Beyond Filters
We are immersed in social media, a realm that gratifies us with virtual filters and the plea of flawless looks. As such, it is important to reconsider and reflect upon this tangible idea of beauty. Although the filters are necessary to reach those heights of beauty we envisage, it is equally important to bear in mind their awkwardness and the influence it has on our outward appearance. Authentic beauty is not a mere illusion that comes along with perfection shown through the filters, genuine beauty lies far beyond, e.g. kindness, empathy, intelligence, etc. It embraces our flaws, glorifies our uniqueness, and serves as a sanctuary in a world where people are too obsessed with manicured nails. Seeking a way to escape the picture made of airbrushed characters, we should break such beauty filters. Make up your own mind about what beauty is and how it can be presented throughout social media. Immediately we understand why it is so crucial to be authentic. It is the thing that gives us our power and allows us to be ourselves – beyond blemishes and imperfections. It is no longer just about unashamedly accepting the things we cannot control but about embracing our imperfections with all the courage we possess. When we stand for an authentic way of doing things, an inner quality is revealed that appeals to something higher than external beauty itself.

Body Modification: A Complex Journey of Self-Expression, Identity, and Social Interaction
Throughout history, humans have sought ways to alter their bodies, transcending mere physical limitations to become powerful tools for shaping identity and promoting individual expression (Featherstone 2000 ). Unlike previous generations, our generation now can fully control our bodies, allowing us to freely adorn ourselves with unique clothing and accessories to express our personalities without being heavily influenced by others' opinions. Body modification serves as a powerful tool to shape identity and expression, enabling individuals to tell their stories, reclaim their narratives, and carve out unique paths in the world.
different types of body modifications
Body modifications, including tattoos, piercings and scars, as well as implants and other changes in the body, provide unmatched opportunities for people to write their own stories. They work as a part of a person's story, showing aspects of one's own identity which the language could have difficulty expressing. To some, the act of body modification signifies a liberating experience, a way to claim their identity aligned with their bodies, especially in situations wherein their bodies have been constricted or controlled by the societal guidelines of beauty (Bradley University 2023). For transgender people, this would mean using modifications to make their body as close to what they are feeling inside. Through the years, science and art jointly expanded the territory of body modification or "Body Modification" to be very promising with a range of possibilities. Within this category, the most common and noticeable ones are piercings and tattoos, which are attributed to myriad things, including cultural heritage, views, or personal tastes. Of course, these body modifications are symbolic and allow individuals take advantage of their bodies to show the power of self-affirmation by using the attractiveness of these modifications. However, in contrast with cosmetic surgery, surgical body modification bears operations such as breast augmentation, liposuction, and body sculpting which medics perform in the hospital setting. What is more, they involve the most dramatic and the highest priced forms of body modification that may result in surgical complications, infections, and reactions to anesthesia.
Understanding the Fear of Body Modification: Unfamiliarity, Societal Norms, and Cultural Influences
Body modification, can and does cause fear and discomfort in some individuals through a combination of many and different elements. To begin with, the fear of the new and the unknown can insinuate the lack of comprehension of the intentions of those in pursuit as it can appear to others as unnatural and strange. Above all, body modifications beyond simple forms, especially the extensive ones, may challenge the established social norms pertaining the physical appearance and may cause a feeling of discomfort the people used to the traditional and preconceive any physical changes as a threat to society. On top of the complicity with pain and the intentional tampering with the mean body integrity, this act of deliberate alteration stirs revulsion. The negative representations in the popular media and cultural myths, connecting body modification to anarchy or deviance, as well, contribute to these fears' growing. While cultural and religious realities might cause the same reactions, some people would condemn it or even express their dislike towards body modifications based on their special beliefs or taboos.
Looking at this image, how do you feel? You probably feel frightened and want to stay away immediately.
Until now, those who undergo body modification have often not been positively received in society. However, those who undergo body modification are often determined to become their true selves. They know exactly what they want and are not easily influenced by others' opinions. They have the courage to seek and become the best version of themselves, regardless of what society says. This demonstrates determination and autonomy in building and expressing oneself, and that's why they deserve respect and recognition for their personal freedom.
Body modification vs social media:
Body modification and social media have become intricately linked in the 21st century, presenting a nuanced relationship with both positive and negative implications. On one hand, social media platforms offer spaces for individuals with body modifications to connect, share experiences, and foster communities, promoting a sense of belonging and acceptance. Moreover, social media serves as a platform for individuals to express themselves and explore their identities through showcasing their body modifications, empowering those challenging societal norms. However, social media also perpetuates unrealistic ideals of body modification, fostering pressure to conform to online trends and potentially exacerbating negative body image issues. Additionally, misinformation about procedures and risks on social media may lead individuals to make uninformed decisions or seek unqualified practitioners, increasing the risk of complications. While social media can offer valuable connections and platforms for self-expression, it is essential to approach its content critically, prioritize responsible practices, and prioritize mental and physical well-being above online trends.
Personal thought
For me personally, seeing someone with extreme body modifications could be a total head-turner at first. Maybe even a little scary, and I'll admit, maybe a bit judgmental. But here's the thing: the more I learned about why people choose these mods, the more my perspective flipped. Turns out, there's a whole lot more going on than just wanting to look different. We're talking deep personal reasons, self-expression on a whole new level, and sometimes even a connection to cultural identity. It's definitely not something to just judge at first glance.

What Does Your Wardrobe Say About You?
Who can resist the allure of a trendy outfit for a fraction of the cost?
The way we approach fashion, from careful planning to spontaneous purchases, reflects our consumption behavior and its impact on ourselves and the world around us. So forget about fast fashion. Slow fashion isn't just about buying less; it's about embracing conscious consumption, ethical practices and timeless style. According to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), “Fast Fashion” is the second largest consumer of water and is responsible for about 10% of global carbon emissions. Given the above losses, it's important to invest in pieces you'll love and wear for years, support brands with sustainable practices, and understand the true cost of your clothing choices.
FOMO Fashion: How Social Media Makes Us Double Tap & Dash
Gen Z or me as a part of it usually does not have a high preference for using sustainable clothing. At least you and I sometimes get lost in the diversity and speed of the new fashion trends. The most part of this transition comes about from social media and also the pressure to appear very beautiful and trendy. The truth remains that today, the fashion market is evolving at an incredible speed, and brand companies have no option but to refresh and remodel their strategies as frequently as possible to retain consumers.direction. This creates a great problem for brands, as they should continuously provide innovative products in order to attract the target customers. "Fast fashion", that is, the trend of fast fashion, is spreading in our society day by day. The social network is one of the primary reasons behind the wide acceptance of this music genre. Consequently, "xiaohongshu" (a version of Pinterest combined with Shopee that is mostly famous in China) is the most loved application for young Vietnamese women nowadays. Through that application we can find all the things that we are curious about. If you have questions or concerns, just search "xiaohongshu", and the answer will be displayed very quickly. Also, another impacting circumstance is celebrity endorsement. Who can resist this emotional state when they see their favorite star donning a specific item? Oh, what? It is already sold out. For an instance, it was in November 2015, at Incheon International Airport, GOT7 came for the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) Obviously, Yugyeom, wearing sky blue scarf, was the main focus of fans. In fact, it was this particular scarf that later acquired the nickname "the Yugyeom scarf," which encouraged many people to buy the Apitherapy winter accessory offline or online. Consequently, the exact same color of this scarf rapidly disappeared on the shelves (esspee 2019).
Sustainability
The traditional fashion industry, with its "fast fashion" model, is facing many harsh criticisms for its negative impact on the environment and society. Every year, millions of tons of clothing and accessories are released into the environment from major commodity-producing countries. These products are often made from non-biodegradable materials, causing waste pollution and increasing pressure on waste disposal areas. Therefore, slow fashion is a "perfect" solution. Slow fashion helps the environment by promoting eco-friendly practices like using locally-sourced materials, minimizing waste generation, and supporting fair labor conditions. Slow fashion is chosen for examination as a developing alternative fashion sector because it incorporates the entire gamut of ''sustainable,'' ''eco,'' ''green,'' and ''ethical fashion movements. (Ozdamar Ertekin , Z & Atik, D 2015). Unlike fast fashion, which produces a lot of clothing quickly, slow fashion focuses on quality, durability, and timeless style. By choosing slow fashion, we reduce carbon emissions, support sustainable materials, and decrease the amount of clothing that ends up in landfills. Plus, we ensure that workers are treated ethically and receive fair wages. Overall, slow fashion offers a more mindful and sustainable approach to clothing that benefits both people and the planet.
#SheinMustPay
Fast fashion fuels a global industry that thrives on vulnerable workers, often young women like "her", forced to endure harsh conditions for low wages to amazement. While we consume fast fashion, the human cost behind it remains hidden, overshadowed by the rapid evolution of styles and the lure of affordability. Many women, often young and immigrants with limited options, work grueling 18-hour days, seven days a week, with little rest and wages that are barely enough to get by. basic needs (Jackson 2022). This non-stop schedule exhausts them physically and mentally, robbing them of their health, happiness and dignity. But the "#SheinMustPay" movement has helped expose worker exploitation at a major fast fashion retailer, illustrating this growing resistance.
Bridging the Gap
However, to reach the majority of consumers, slow fashion needs a strong "push", and social networks and influencers are the key to this. Thanks to their influence and media reach, slow fashion is widely spread to the online community. Influencers often share personal experiences, give instructions on how to dress beautifully, and introduce slow fashion brands. In this way, they not only help raise awareness about the benefits of slow fashion but also encourage consumers to join a sustainable fashion community. This makes slow fashion popular and attracts increasing attention from people.

The Role of Digital Citizenship in Shaping Online Discourse
In an era where social media, online forums, and digital platforms serve as the primary means of communication and information sharing, digital citizenship plays a vital role in shaping the online landscape In today's interconnected world, where virtually every aspect of our lives is influenced by digital technology, the concept of digital citizenship has become increasingly relevant ( Mediasmart 2024). Digital citizenship encompasses the responsible and ethical use of technology, as well as the understanding of one's rights and responsibilities in the digital world. The digital world offers enormous potential, but amidst the convenience lies a hidden responsibility: digital citizenship. Being a digital citizen doesn't just mean having an online presence. It's about using technology responsibly, ethically, and thoughtfully ( Education world 2024). It's about navigating the digital landscape with awareness, respect, and a commitment to making a positive contribution.

Exploring Fandom: Understanding a Community of Shared Passion
Fandom, often characterized as a community formed by individuals with similar interests, admiration, and support for a particular idol, music group, artist, or celebrity, is a vibrant and multifaceted phenomenon ( Vocabulary 2023). While it's commonly believed that fans merely spend money on music records, concert tickets, and related merchandise, often dismissed as frivolous expenditures, there's a deeper and more nuanced side to fandom that deserves attention.
Investing in Music Records and Concert Tickets: Frivolous or Not?
In the realm of fandom, spending money on music records, concert tickets, and associated products is frequently criticized as wasteful. However, as someone who has been a fan of a music group for five years, I believe that supporting idols monetarily isn't necessarily negative, and there are several reasons for this.
Firstly, purchasing concert tickets allows fans to create memorable experiences for themselves. My quote is "You only live once," and when idols have the opportunity to perform, it's essential to seize the moment and immerse oneself in unforgettable experiences. The joy and fulfillment derived from attending concerts make the expenditure worthwhile. Additionally, attending concerts provides individuals with the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, sharing their passion and forging friendships within the community. Ultimately, financially supporting idols through album purchases and concert attendance contributes to sustaining their careers, enabling them to produce quality work and shine on stage. This isn't merely a demonstration of support but also a way to acknowledge and appreciate the artists' contributions.
Spending money on music records and concert tickets isn't inherently frivolous. However, it's crucial to consider financial circumstances and personal motivations when making these decisions. Ultimately, true happiness and value lie not in spending money but in the memories and experiences we create through these activities.
The Bright Side of Fandom:
Contrary to popular belief, fans engage in more than just consumerism within their communities. Beneath the surface of fan culture lies a lesser-known aspect: acts of kindness and generosity. Many fandoms participate in charitable activities, channeling their passion towards meaningful contributions to society. These acts of kindness not only benefit the community but also strengthen the bond between fans and their idols.
For example, the fandom of Hanbin, a member of the band Tempest, donated more than 36 million VND to the "NUOI EM" Project, a lunch to support the dream of writing for poor children, another project is about adopting 60 animals under the name Hanbin and many other volunteer activities.
The Dark Side of Fandom: The Menace of Sasaeng Fans
Many people often idolize them too much and are even blacklisted by their artist management companies. Korea has a special name for such people "saseang fan". They are people who can do everything from stalking, violating privacy, and even threatening celebrities. It can be said that they have an obsession with intimacy when they think that their actions can make their idol pay attention to them. For example, a sasaeng fan angered the public when he shared a series of photos and videos of an NCT member's hotel room on Twitter. Not only was this the first time she did this, she violated the idol's privacy so much that the agency decided not to blur her face in the video as a warning. We can see that the crazy fans are really scared.
Shipping Idols: Harmless Fun or Disturbing Behavior?
In Korean entertainment, especially in the Kpop music industry, shipping culture has become an indispensable part of the fan community. Fans often associate couples of the opposite sex, and at the same time enjoy the intimate actions of the couples they ship. From creating videos synthesizing romantic moments, writing fanfics, scripts, comics, to creating many other forms, fans seem to constantly find ways to show their support and affection for couples. like.
However, it is worth noting that, in the process of pairing couples, many fans have crossed the boundary and become too extreme, even going into sensitive areas such as 18+ sex. Making inferences from friendship to same-sex love and writing untrue stories can lead to misunderstandings and disruption in the fan community as well as affect the idol. In some cases, shipping same-sex idol couples can lead to inappropriate and extreme actions from some fans, especially when they put the love between the idols into their true feelings. Surname. In general, shipping idols together may be part of fan culture, but needs to be done with awareness and respect for the individuality and privacy of the idols.
Representation and Identity
Fandoms today are more diverse than ever, with various fan groups representing unique perspectives and identities. For example, the TF-BOYS fandom boasts multiple representatives, each associated with a different color. This diversity can lead to conflicts over how characters and stories represent different identities and experiences. Even within the same music group, there may be competing fan groups, leading to tensions within concerts and events.

Tumblr's Paradox: Freedom at the Crossroads of Openness and Responsibility
Social media is like a miniature society within the screen, with each platform offering different experiences. Among them, Tumblr stands out as a vibrant digital community where users immerse themselves in a diverse array of content and interactions.
The Allure:
What sets Tumblr apart from its counterparts is its unique approach to creating and consuming content. The platform's "mini blog" structure provides users with a framework to express themselves succinctly yet profoundly (Reeve 2016). Whether through short texts, captivating images, mesmerizing videos, or soul-stirring music, Tumblr offers a pathway for individuals to articulate their thoughts, emotions, and artistic endeavors in a visually compelling manner.
Moreover, Tumblr's interface is designed with a focus on user interaction, fostering engagement and connectivity among its diverse user base. The platform's reblogging feature allows users to share content seamlessly, expanding its reach and igniting conversations across various communities and interest groups. Through likes, comments, and blog reblogs, users establish connections, exchange ideas, and form virtual communities centered around shared interests, beliefs, and passions.
Tumblr values individuality and celebrates diversity. Users can customize the layout, theme, and content of their personal pages flexibly, creating a space of "personalization." This inclusive and accepting characteristic nurtures a sense of familiarity and empowers users, transcending geographical boundaries and cultural differences. This is why, despite the presence of giants like Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat, Tumblr remains a favorite platform for many people.
Will the open door that welcomed so many, now leave Tumblr exposed to the storm?
Openness
Tumblr allows users to explore their identities and interests without rigid rules, fostering appropriate communities and diverse voices. With minimal content moderation, users can delve into complex topics without fear of censorship, sparking unfiltered dialogues. This is something that other platforms rarely do. For example, on TikTok, content moderation is stringent; videos containing suggestive images or sharp objects are immediately removed. However, on Tumblr, sharing "nudity" images often remains uncensored and is even easier to find when searching through hashtags.
The shadow of openness:
Because of Tumblr's excessive "openness," it has led to some negative aspects. Like June said, Tumblr is a mishmash of thematic blogs revolving around every topic imaginable (2014). The feature of anonymity coupled with Tumblr's limited moderation has led to the emergence of inappropriate content, making some people feel violated and unsafe when using this platform. Moreover, there is a risk to security and privacy when users may lose control over their personal information when shared widely. The loose content control policies on Tumblr can lead to the spread of misinformation, rumors, and even fake news. This lack of control can affect the platform's credibility and create an unsafe environment for users.
#NSFW
In 2018, Tumblr issued a complete ban on Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content to restrict the posting of inappropriate images and animations. However, this transition process faced many challenges and criticisms. The lack of robust datasets due to Tumblr's previous lenient stance on adult content contributed to erroneous automated decisions and lack of transparency, leading to the removal of diverse content due to mistakes. Transforming Tumblr into a safer space is associated with sacrificing group cultural activities, raising concerns about losing the positivity of the "old Tumblr" and disrupting the community. Automatic filters hiding NSFW content sparked intense reactions due to misclassification and unaffected adult entertainment programs. The shift from user-controlled self-assessment to machine learning algorithms was criticized for gender bias and functional disorders. Algorithm errors, such as flagging LGBTQ+ content as adult content, disappointed users, mocking the system's inefficiency. Tumblr's poorly trained algorithm increased concerns about Verizon's indifference, fueling online resistance with criticisms focused on "nipple" as a symbol of rebellion.
The question remains: where is the line between openness and responsibility?
