Oh my god. What is with Disney these days? No one wants a âwokeâ Princess and itâs like they donât even understand the word anyway.
Pixar does because look at Merida. She still got help from âa manâ even if they were her little brothers. It was still âfemale empowermentâ because her mother is actually the one who killed the bad guy anyway and it was because he was about to kill Merida. It wasnât just âwomen strong!â. Hell, Merida refuses to get married and actually ends the movie that way but she never comes across as âew, menâ but that she simply doesnât want to. I can relate.
But back to Disney. They changed Little Mermaid so Ariel literally did EVERYTHING including killing Ursula despite the fact that she shouldnât even know how to drive a damn ship. đ There was nothing wrong with Eric doing it!
And now weâre getting âwokeâ Snow White who is named as such because her skin is WHITE AS SNOW! But noooooo⌠she has to be a person of color too so Disney can have lazy writing and call everyone racist when we call them out on this BS. POC are just shields for them now although Rachel Zegler tried to accuse everyone of hate already. Lady, thatâs not going to get people to see your point. And frankly, itâs not even about her. Itâs about Disney and what theyâre doing.
Also theyâre apparently planning to change the Prince coming in to wake her up at the end. Like, what? And most of the seven dwarves are gone too. I think thereâs only one now while the others are ânormalâ. They thought(and Zegler said) that the Prince was âacting stalker-ishâ so thatâs why they wanted to change him. Hah. They clearly didnât watch âOnce Upon a Timeâ. Now THAT is a live-action Snow White.
Plus there is a âdeleted sceneâ comic which explains how the Prince even knew to come looking for Snow White. He was captured and locked up by the Evil Queen and witnessed her transform into the hag and poison the apple. He immediately went to find Snow when he managed to escape. All the live-action had to do was include something like this and then he isnât âstalkerishâ. đ
Frankly, their movie is not even Snow White anymore and I can tell already that itâs going to flop with all these unneeded and unnecessary changes. All it shares in common now is the name. Nothing else.
This is just my opinion. You donât have to agree.
#I canât even anymore#anti 2024 Snow White#Disney should be ashamed#they obviously donât care though#anti disney#this is not âmodernizingâ the princesses#or their stories#the stories actually are fairytales from different countries#and not creations of Disney anyway#my opinion#my rants

Hello awesome nerds!
Hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge here. Iâm seeking some recs for writing/word processing apps- specifically ones that are mobile-friendly.
Iâve used Evernote for years for different things because it was simple and free and you could sync multiple devices but lately Iâm getting frustrated with it trying to trick me into paying for a membership every time I open the app. Or things that were free for a long time are now trapped behind a paywall đĄ
What do yâall use? Free.99 is preferable because paying to use a word processor just pisses me off frankly đ Iâm legit about to just go back to the notes app on my iPhone because at least it backs up to my cloud and it doesnât cost like $15 a month.
#these companies should be ashamed of themselves#stop charging me to access my own data#also $15 a month is egregious#Disney+ doesnât even cost that much a monthâŚyet#how dare you#writing app recommendations#seeking recommendations

one thing about hbo is that when they get a journalist coming up to them and going âman do i have a fucked up story i want to followâ they really do let that person go wild. iâve mentioned the way the ronan farrow one really moved me emotionally and thatâs just because ronan knows how to investigate and tell a story to get you righteously angry for who it is heâs defending. heâs good at his job!
but this one, quiet on the set, has genuinely made my jaw drop a few times, even if i think some of the framing could have been better in the last episode. of course i know about all the rumors about dan schneider and the abuse on set, itâs hard to have been into the teen nick scene and not notice, and itâs pretty easy to figure out which kids were being harmed through too much attention and which were being harmed through not enough attention, and thereâs been all sorts of rumors floating around for over a decade!
but the build up to the drake bell reveal was well handled, i thought. i was initially skeptical because i think itâs hard to make a documentary about child sexual abuse without leaning into being exploitative in some way. and at first, where you have the actors who left early, like katrina, or who you remember but werenât mega famous like giovannie, and theyâre all saying âthis set was so weird & inappropriate, i knew something was wrong but i didnât have the experience or vocabulary to say whatâ it feels a little too schlocky. like, oh weâre just kind of speculating on the inappropriate nature of danâs âfriendshipâ with amanda bynes for two episodes? yeah it is fucked up that two pedophiles were on that set, but did they hurt anyone on set?
and then drake bell walks into the room dressed like timmy turner and says it was me. he hurt me.
i canât stop thinking about the choice of clothes here and the way it helps drive home the point of the doc. heâs sitting there in fairly odd parents colors as an adult and canât describe the sexual trauma he experienced as a child still, has never spoken about it, had his mom lie to his father over it because he was so screwed up. really driving home the point that he was just a kid who had a knack for physical comedy and it got him preyed on by dan, a man who should have protected him, set up and handed over to a monster who traumatized him for months and years.
but when that reporter said she got a judge to let them unseal the court documents because drake bell told her how much support peck had? my jaw dropped, like yeah this is reporting, this is someone who saw this story and finally fucking cared not about the salacious details but about who knew what and why they did nothing to stop this from happening. itâs not about forcing drake bell or katrina jackson or alexa to live through the worst moments of their life - itâs about how so many people knew what was going on and didnât do a god damn thing to stop it. itâs about how these monsters, these convicted pedophiles, were given access to little kids to hurt and traumatize and everyone knew and didnât just look the other way, they actively helped cover it up. THATS the story. Not that it was an isolated tragedy but that it was a clinical, purposeful environment built by people who wanted to harm little kids.
#i think the court stuff should have been handled better there was too much speculation#but eps 1-3 were real solid investigatory work#quiet on set#okay i might be done freaking out about this.#but like. itâs drake bell. itâs amanda bynes. itâs jeannette mccurdy. i grew up with them.#itâs so horrific to learn this stuff. i get why my grandma always cried talking about drew barrymore.#rani makes text posts no one will read#also canât help thinking about how all the child actors under kenny ortega were way more well adjusted. imo bc he took pains to help them.#like dove talking about how she got plastic surgery bc she was pressured into it.#and then got ti descendants and met cameron & he was like âleave your boyfriend heâs an abuserâ#thatâs just not something that would happen on other sets! shit itâs not something that would happen on other disney sets!#at the end of the day it is in fact so easy to just. care about the children who work for you!!#but the thing is. most of these people donât! they donât even care about the adults either!!#that story about the writers was so fucked up!!! she canât even actually recount the story#sheâs so embarassed and ashamed that she went along with it!!!#insists sheâd do differently now. of course she would she isnât a broke 22 year old!!!#god it all just sucks. hollywood is evil idk what else to say.

there's a reason why we have poetry, and not just prose. there's a reason why prose has many genres, why it can be romantic, horrifying, or silly.
there's a reason why we have both television and film. and why genres of those are so varied as well. there's a reason we keep inventing new types of media to tell stories.
there's a reason why some books are turned into movies and others are turned into television. why some books achieve both. there's a reason why Batman started out in comics, then television, then films, then animated television, then video games, and why they keep making more.
there's a reason why a movie adaptation of a book is never exactly the same. why a character wears one color in one, and a different color in the other. there's a reason why the canon of stories gets "confused", because the different forms of media don't line up perfectly.
people have figured out millions of ways to tell stories, and with reboots and sequels and adaptations galore, i think we tend to assume anything that isn't a completely original creation/franchise/IP is a grab for money and attention. and maybe sometimes it is. but we have all these mediums to tell new stories and old stories, and new stories in old ways and old stories in new ways, and it's very much like our different ways of learning.
visual learners vs. hands-on vs. audio learners. we all need different input to learn, and different forms of media can teach us new things about what we like, what we love, who we are, just because it looks a little different. just because we prefer one thing over the other, doesn't mean that either one is less important, especially if someone learns something beautiful about themself or life from one of them.
i'm not sure if this makes a lot of sense, but i find it wonderful that even with recycled plot lines and clichĂŠs and too many seasons of whatever tv show, we're always trying to tell something new. always trying to learn something new. and even if nobody likes it, the creator felt compelled to make something because their thoughts were too big for their head.
tl;dr
human creation is wonderful, and i'm even learning to appreciate the existence of stuff that isn't really my cup of tea đđ
#I wrote this very late so my thoughts might be a bit scrambled#thinking about how 80s she-ra isn't all that interesting to me but probably taught a lot of girls to not be ashamed of 'girl stuff'#and how Netflix she-ra helped me be comfortable with being gay#or how Disney is making all these live action versions of animated movies that didn't necessarily need to be made#but Ariel being black is so important#and animators flexing their powerful skills in creating cgi animals/creatures/animated furniture wouldn't be showcased otherwise#long post#positivity#entertainment#ALSO thinking about taz sloane and hurley being gay but more subtle in the podcast but have full-page kissing twice in the graphic novel#the podcast is what I listen to when I want the full story#the graphic novel is what I turn to when I want to look at lovely art and grin at my favorite moments rendered visually#there's a whole communications theory about how we use media differently#uses and gratification theory#I think#but i don't think these thoughts should only be reserved for those who have studied communications and/or are in academic circles#different needs are met through different media and that's fascinating and exciting!!!#wait shit i think there was already an entire episode of my little pony about this#text

I know cringe is dead and nobody should be ashamed of their passions, and I would never ever ever make fun of somebody for the things they like, but I don't know if I'll ever not be at least a little embarrassed by how much I unironically, wholeheartedly, enthusiastically adore Disney's Sleeping Beauty. That movie goes on and I instantly become the world's most obnoxious Disney Adult who knows all the songs, all the trivia, and has opinions about every single frame in the film. I could write a paper on the damn thing, and maybe I will one day.
I'll go on tirades about the evils of the Walt Disney Company and the Hays Code at the drop of a hat, but damned if I am not a weak bitch for that iconic Hays-era Disney faerie tale. I contain multitudes, it's pretty to look at, and Maleficent is my favorite anything in the history of ever.
Also, Hubert and Stefan were definitely fucking. I assume we are all in agreement on this.

Observations about America so far
People are WAY more willing to talk to strangers. completely neutral observation btw it's just a different culture. ive only been here for a day but like 8 seperate people have just like. initiated conversation with us which is so so different to home.
holy shit. people weren't kidding when they said that food proportions are bigger. I have to remember.. like money its more than it is in Australia
why do they put so much water in toilet bowls??? its such a waste and the toilet water keeps touching my ass and its so uncomfortable.which might explain why they come with plungers instead of brushes.
this is probably a regional thing but its a lot more bilingual here than i thought it would be which is great news because by going out I am slowly learning more spanish! also the international Airport obviously had a lot of languages but for some reason no french translations??? very different from Australia. because at home there is almost never any Spanish
i just want to announce that i am in love with every squirrel. they do look like something Disney made up to sell more products but its clearly working on me because they are my everything
u guys making fun of us for calling sprite lemonade should be more ashamed about living in a country where the so called 'GINGER ale' tastes like sprite. where's the fucking ginger. its not the end of the world but i miss her </3. I do like cranberry juice tho.

let's not reduce the magnitude of billy and eddie's relationship. I think we're forgetting this is the disney's mcu, this is fucking monumental, to have a mlm kiss.
it will also be monumental when agatha and rio kiss on screen. their relationship is so layered and so damn tense and electric, their kiss is gonna be FIRE when it happens
both of these kisses will touch us all differently. the mlm community are obviously going to be feeling pretty fucking great today (as they should), because they got representation! in a disney show!!
when it happens for us, we'll be over the moon! I'll be screaming crying throwing up, because it will mean so much to us!
but calling their kiss pointless??? I beg for you to take a step back, and reflect. this is literally the same behaviour that those incels presented us with when they review bombed the show bc agatha is queer.
you can dislike the episode, you can dislike the fact we didn't have rio this episode, you can be irritated, but don't you dare attack a community who are celebrating the mlm kiss on a disney show.
if you are, then you should be ashamed of yourself
#we are a community#get it together my god#agatha all along#agatha harkness#rio vidal#billy maximoff#billy kaplan

What are your thoughts regarding the âLost Twentyâ of the Jedi Order?
I think it's significant that the Jedi not only create busts to remember them, but display them in the library where anyone can walk right by them--a reminder to everyone, adults and children alike, that it's possible to leave the Jedi life and that path is perfectly valid, the Jedi won't stop you, they'll remember you fondly. When Jocasta is talking with Obi-Wan about Dooku in the deleted scene, she literally strokes the bust of him and speaks with such a fond smile about how his politics took him on a path away from the Jedi:
Or there's a scene in Dooku: Jedi Lost (Disney supplemental canon, so take it as you will) where Yoda and another Jedi Master are walking a bunch of children through the Archives and they ask about the busts. Yoda takes the time to point out that asking about the Lost Twenty is a good thing for the kids and speaks highly of them, that many of them went on to become leaders of some kind, some chose to teach, but most simply vanished, and the whole scene is speaking well of all of those choices.
The Jedi aren't ashamed that some Masters chose to leave, they're not afraid of teaching their children about that even, which says a lot about how they're not forcing this life on others, how they're not trying to hide that other paths are available for Jedi, they're supporting that. And I like that it's specifically the Lost Twenty Masters over the course of their history, because it makes sense to me that there would probably have been far more Jedi who left as younglings or even Knights, when they were still figuring themselves out, because being a Jedi takes a huge commitment, that's one of the things Star Wars as a whole emphasizes, that the Force and the Jedi way is a very serious thing, it takes a lot of dedication, it's not just a whim. And being able to touch and use something as powerful as the Force should require a huge commitment, especially because of how it works based on your thoughts and feelings, you have to be mentally stable to use it, that's literally just how it works. But by the time you're a Master, you've had time to really consider your life, you've had time to question whether you really want this, you've had time to commit yourself truly to this path--and you can still leave! They'll still give you a bust in the library! It just doesn't happen very often because, by that point, a Master would have been asked to undergo several Trials to make sure this is what they want, to make sure this life is right for them, and given a lot of time to consider it. So, that we know the Lost Twenty were a thing in the Jedi Order, that it was significant enough to include in the worldbuilding and specifically how it was included (in a positive way), says a lot about who the Jedi are and how they treat those who leave. I mean, look at Dooku in AOTC, Mace and Ki-Adi-Mundi spoke positively about him right up until he was revealed to be a Sith Lord, because they trust Jedi who decide this path isn't for them. And if you go by Padawan (and possibly Tales of the Jedi), Dooku was STILL VISITING after he chose to leave:
Not only that, but he was there to talk with the Council because they still valued him:
Or in Tales of the Jedi, he was there during the events of The Phantom Menace because he asked Qui-Gon about the Sith he ran into, showing that he was still welcome:
He was also there after Qui-Gon's death, by which time he was already under Sidious' tutoring, so he would have had to have left the Jedi by the time of Qui-Gon's funeral:
Take Disney era canon as you will, of course, but even without it, the Lost Twenty speak well of the Jedi and how they treat those who decide to leave, even the ones that have spent decades committing themselves to this path. The Jedi are open about how you can always walk away, you can always change your mind. They ask that you be serious about it, but they make sure even the younglings know that it's always an option!

Beyond the Shattered Sea is the BEST lil bit of fantasy to ever grace our modern mythology(better than D&D, GOT, Star Wars, and yes even Tolkien)! Lucasfilm strives to be GREAT(they keep giving us magnificent stories only to be pushed back by negativity)! Iâm afraid that Disney and a toxic fandom will always be holding them back. The Last Jedi, Willow, and now The Acolyte proves what direction they want to be going in, but itâs always followed by a step back. It breaks my đâŚ
GAWD I love Beyond the Shattered Sea! Masterful storytelling!! Thank you Jon Kasdan and company!đ

(1991 Disney version) Beauty and the Beast au where they met as kids, belle was 8 while Adam was 11 but Adam has been recently turned into a beast,he act a bit bratty but in reality heâs a kid scared of his own situation
Happy Beauty and the Beast week! Here's Day One. I really hope you like it.
Hope this goes without saying, but this is just a fluff piece.
Maurice hated the idea of taking his daughter to that spoiled Prince's castle, but what choice did he have? The Prince's parents had died, and while he was nothing more than a low level engineering advisor to the boy's father, he knew that he was still expected to check in on him, and this would be his first large celebration without them. Maurice also knew that he couldn't leave his motherless daughter at home alone. Not to mention, while he didn't like to admit it, he understood that the boy truly wasn't terrible. He was dealing with more than any child should have to.
It was a short journey to the castle, but when the rain started, Maurice pulled the cart to the side. Belle, bundled in her small cloak, was huddled close to her father, trying to keep warm and somewhat sheltered from the rain.
"Father, we're going to be late," she said through chattering teeth.
"I know Belle, but it's not safe to continue in this kind of weather. We have to wait out the storm," her father sighed, looking up through the canopy of the forest at the falling rain. "Why don't we make ourselves comfortable, hm? You can take a nap so that way you have plenty of energy to make it up to Prince Adam. I'll let you stay up later so the two of you can play when we get there."
Belle puffed out her cheeks and furrowed her brows, looking incredibly cute, but also incredibly annoyed. "But father, I don't like playing with him. He always has to win and if he doesn't, he's mean and will ignore me for the rest of the day."
"I know Belle, but he lost both of his parents. He's just trying to control what he can. You can be nice for a night, can't you?" Maurice was trying to be sympathetic to the boy, though he understood why it was frustrating for his daughter.
The girl hung her head, as if ashamed. She had lost her mother, but at least she still had her father. She couldn't imagine life without either of them. "Okay. I can be nice, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let him win."
The rain suddenly stopped, and the clouds parted, allowing for the bright moonlight to rain down. "Well, look at that Belle. Maybe we won't be late for the party after all."
With that, they headed off towards the castle, with no idea what was in store for them. When they arrived, they were confused to see that there didn't seem to be anyone else there. Just the typical servants. Maurice took the horse to the stables while Belle dried off. After that, they made their way to the front doors of the castle. No one was there to greet them.
"How odd," Maurice muttered after knocking again. This time when no one appeared, he opened the door for himself. "Potts? Are you there? Cogsworth?" the man's voice verberated throughout the empty hallways, reaching for the ears of the servants he was closest with. No one answered. "Belle, maybe you should wait here."
"No, I want to come with you. It's scary here," Belle said in a soft voice as she grabbed her father's hand.
"LEAVE," suddenly a booming voice filled the entire castle, but it sounded young. Belle's ears perked up. It sounded almost like Adam. "I said LEAVE!"
"Adam, what are you doing?" she huffed, letting go of her father's arm to walk towards his voice. "We were barely late at all. There's no reason to talk to us like that."
"Belle," Maurice reached for her, but she had already begun to run off, his heart pounding in his chest as his blood felt like it was turning to ice.
"Leave peasant," the voice, somewhat like Adam's but somewhat different, came again.
"Why are you being so rude? I came all the way here, in the rain, to come to your party. The least you can do is greet me properly," Belle called back, stopping at the top of a set of stairs and looking around. Where was he?
Finally, Maurice caught up with Belle, huffing and puffing as he did. "Belle, please, I think we should leave. Prince Adam clearly does not want our company at the moment."
"No! He's being rude," the girl insisted, darting off towards the library, where she knew Adam often spent time.
The large doors were partially open, and she saw a flickering flame inside. That gave her the courage to finish pushing one of the doors open. Inside the library was a small, furry beast of a boy. Unable to keep it inside, a scream ripped from Belle's throat. She stumbled back, and the beast covered his ears, shrinking into himself.
"I told you to leave," the beast whispered with a cracking voice.
Belle stopped just as she turned to run. She recognized that voice. Even as her father was screaming her name, she turned back to look at the puddle of fur and self pity on the floor. "Adam?"
"You really should use my proper title," the beast muttered, pulling his tattered cape tighter around him.
"Are you okay?" Belle asked in a soft voice, cautiously walking over to him.
That was all it took for the boy to break out in tears, grabbing at his ears. "No! How could I be? Look at me? I'm a monster. A beast."
Belle sat beside him, twiddling her thumbs. Adam didn't make any move to get up, or to seek comfort with his only friend. Finally, Maurice made his way into the library. He ran towards his daughter, ready to strike the creature she was sitting beside, even as she shouted protests. However, when the small beast looked up at him, he faltered. He knew those eyes.
"Prince Adam?" he asked, stumbling to a halt.
The boy nodded, now extending and retracting his claws. "Can... can you get Mrs. Potts? She's in the kitchen, and I can't see her right now."
Maurice nodded dumbly, still staring. "Alright my boy, but after that, you'll tell me what's going on here."
"Okay," Adam whispered, plopping his head back on the rug in front of the fireplace.

TF1 Sentinel as Mirageâs deadbeat Disney dad works so well. Like imagine heâs a rich celebrity and bought Mirageâs love all his life until Mirage grew up and realized he was a shitty dad. D-16 admired him then learns about his real character from milf Optimus and vows that if he ever meets him, heâs going to punch Sentinel.
I was just talking with Go Boom about Mirages life. He's a business owner for a coding software, and is a racer in his free time. Sentinel and Optimus were both racers that fell in love, married, then divorced when Mirage was just 2. Sentinel went into acting afterwords and Optimus went into teaching. Sentinel did buy his love for a while, but by age 16 Mirage learned his dad is a dumb man and should be ashamed of himself.
D-16 looked up to Sentinel as a father figure, he didn't even knew he was married until he brought it up to Optimus.
"That is my ex husband." "What did he do?" "Tripped and fell into his secretary's valve, and he hasn't left since."
D-16 would love to congradulate Sentinel on divorcing Optimus before bitchslapping him for causing him so much pain for years after the divorce.
