Everyone can be an advocate for this. Write to your health insurer and let them know that we need affordable out of pocket cost. No one should go into debt trying to remain healthy. Tell them that we should have the option to choose what medicines and equipment are best for us and our situation, not what is best for their budget. Lastly, write to them and let them know that coverage for all life-changing technology should be available. Many insurers only cover certain options and leave it to the individual to pay for what could potentially save our lives. That is not fair and is not right. Better health options should be a given and not an opportunity for insurers and medical suppliers to make money. This is the bent cannula that I discovered at 12:30 in the morning. It had been inserted @6:30PM. Yes, the site was sore, but many of us living with this disease go around with sore spots and endure the discomfort because we do what we have to do. A linked cannula like this is NOT a good thing. It took 6 hours for my levels to get back where I like them. Yes, I woke up dehydrated. 💙 Later today I had a failed sensor site for my CGM. That took over two hours on the phone to report and get a replacement sensor sent to me. 💙 So not only do we diabetics have to endure the disease, but all of the aggravations of the technology. Don’t get me wrong, the technology works great, but it is not full proof. Faulty sensors are a common occurrence and plastic cannula kinks are common too.
