AN: Sorry it took so long to get out but I appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy this fic!

"Hey." I said, knocking on Jack's office door. Dennis looked up from his spot on the couch and gave me a tight smile. "Mind if I come in? Everyone else has gone home for the day." Dennis shrugged.

"Everyone really go home?" He asked, lowering his legs from the couch. I nodded. "What are you still doing here then?"

"Nina wanted those pictures developed and Elliot wasn't going to stay to do it. Figured a little overtime would be nice." I shrugged as I sat down next to him. "You ok?" Dennis nodded.

"Yeah. I mean Jack told me it wasn't going to last." Dennis looked off at the ceiling. "Jack usually ends up right one way or another." I chuckled and nodded. "I just wish it didn't end with everyone calling me his secretary or gorilla boy."

"I mean he does treat you like a secretary. And for a long while that was your official title." I said, gripping the little bag in my hands tighter.

"What?" Dennis asked, eyes wide as he looked over at me. I nodded. I bit my lip as he let his head fall back against the couch.

"When Jack first hired you. He called you his secretary. But honestly over time, you're as much an executive as he is." I shrugged. Dennis continued to stare at me. "And with the title change to executive assistant, I mean really that won't change anything you do. Hell. You'll still do everything you do to make sure that Jack stays on top of things."

"Yeah, like his damn secretary." Dennis scoffed as he looked back up at the ceiling.

"What I'm trying to say Dennis is that Blush would shut down without you. Jack would get distracted, Nina would drink herself into a coma or overdose on something, and Elliot would miss all his deadlines because he's trying to fuck the models. Maya wouldn't even be here if it weren't for Jack and how long do you think she'd stick around if he wasn't doing his job?" I pointed out.

"She needs this job though." Dennis muttered. I nodded.

"True. But really think. How long do you think she would stick around if Jack didn't do his?" I pointed out. "We've all left shittier jobs than this for less." Dennis nodded. "Blush depends on you Dennis. I hope you know that." Dennis sat back up with a small smile.

"I do now." He said, reaching over and squeezing my hand. "What's that?" He looked at the bag in my hands.

"Uh just a small gift. For today." I shrugged before handing it to him. "Between...the day...and what you went through..." Dennis smiled softly at me before scooting over to hug me.

"Thank you (Y/N)." He whispered before pulling back to tear into the tissue paper. "I've been looking for one of these!" He cried as he pulled out a little glass black cat. "Where did you get one?"

"I know a guy who used to work at SeaWorld. He made those glass orcas." I said with a smile. "He owed me one so I figured this would be the better use of the favor." Dennis hugged me again before getting up to carefully put the cat on his desk.

"Thank you." He said, holding his hand out for me. "What do you say to dinner? As a thank you and maybe...something else?" I took his hand, my face heating up slightly.

"I know I'm not one of the models you and Elliot chase..." I trailed off as Dennis kissed my cheek.

"Not a single one of them would do what you just did for me. Not a damn one of them." He assured me. "So dinner?" We walked to the elevator, hand in hand. Dennis looked at me hopefully.

"Yeah." I said, smiles growing on both our faces. "Let's go to dinner." Dennis moved my hand to his arm as we got into the elevator, smiling happily at each other.

“morning sleepy head.” Dennis teased as I stepped into the office. I flipped him off as I walked past. “Well then.”

“shove it finch. I don’t want to hear it.” I mumbled as I put my head down on my desk. “I had a shit night and I don’t need whatever brand of crap you’re shoveling today.” It was quiet afterwards and I inwardly sighed in relief.

“How was the date last night?” Nina asked as she perched on my desk. I groaned and she rubbed my back. “That bad huh?”

“the asshole decided that when I didn’t invite him up, it meant he could camp out in front of my building and call me every hour on the hour.” I said, peeking up at her. “I finally called the cops around two but I still didn’t get any rest until at least five because they had to interview me. But that’s not the worst.” Maya came over and leaned against finch’s desk as she listened. “I had not one. Not two. But three of the cops trying to hit on me. They wouldn’t leave until almost four. And that’s only because I asked for a supervisor. Who finally made them leave.” Nina bent over awkwardly to hug me.

“oh I’m sorry darling.” Nina said, rubbing my back.

"Like that's so bad." Dennis muttered. "Hot cops hitting on you? That should be a dream." There was a smacking sound and David crying out in pain. “What the hell was that for?!”

“shut up Dennis.” Maya said. “Come on. My office is finch free.” I nodded as I got up to follow the two of them.

“so when did you finally get to sleep?” Nina asked. I shook my head as I laid down on mayas couch.

“sleep? What’s that?” I asked, groaning as I put my arm over my eyes. Maya closed her blinds.

“why don’t you stay here and try to get some sleep?” Maya offered.

“we can run interference with Jack.” Nina said. “I’m sure Elliot will agree.”

“and we’ll find a way to keep finch quiet.” Maya said. I nodded.

“thanks guys.” I said, curling into myself on the couch. “I owe you.” Maya nodded as she headed towards the door. Nina patted my foot before leaving, maya closing the door behind them. I woke up later to the door opening again.

“sorry.” I groaned and rubbed my eye.

“don’t they tell you to leave me alone Dennis?” I complained as I sat up, glancing at my watch before pushing my hair back off my face.

“yeah. But I figured you would probably want something to eat when you got up.” He shrugged, placing the tray he was carrying on mayas coffee table. “Consider it an apology for earlier. Maya explained.”

“I thought I’d explained it well enough in the first place.” I raised an eyebrow at him as I stood up, stretching before wandering over to open the blinds.

“I was having caffeine withdrawal.” He shrugged. I rolled my eyes as I looked out over the city. We fell into silence. Dennis appeared at my shoulder, holding out a muffin. “Here. You must be hungry too.” I nodded in thanks before taking a bite. “Not a bad view.”

“no it’s not.” I agreed. Dennis glanced at me as I continued eating.

“hey i wanted to apologize for this morning.” He said. “I don’t mean half of what I say. Especially when I’m just saying something to be an ass.”

“I know.” I said, throwing the wrapper in the trash. “Didn’t help I was running on maybe three hours of sleep over two days.” Dennis chuckled.

“no it didn’t.” He agreed. “Can I take you out? As an apology and…a date?” I turned to look at him, furrowing my eyebrows at him. “I can promise I won’t stalk you after or make you call the cops who will flirt with you or camp out outside your apartment until you let me up.” Dennis tried to joke.

“you want to go out with me?” I asked. Dennis nodded, a soft smile on his face.

“I’ve like you for a while. It’s just you were always going on dates. Figured now was the chance to ask.” Dennis admitted. I smiled softly at him.

“sure. Wanna leave after work?” I asked. Dennis smiled at me and offered me his arm.

“or we could blow off the rest of the day and go now.” He offered. I took his arm with a laugh.

“you really think Jack will let us?” I asked. Dennis smiled.

“hey you’re the one who got paid to sleep.” He reminded me.

“touché.” I said as I walked with him out the door.

Meet the people of Woodward Ranch! To most West Virginians, the place is just a normal animal sanctuary, but to those in the know, it’s a cryptid conservation ranch :)

Wyatt Woodward is the grandson of the man who used to own the ranch (I haven’t figured out that guy yet so…). His grandfather passed and left the ranch to Wyatt in his will, despite Wyatt only having met the man once or twice when he was little. Now he’s tasked with running the place, as well as grappling with the reality that monsters, cryptids, and the supernatural are very very much real

Lucy Lovejoy is a farmhand / wrangler on the ranch. She grew up living there and is miffed that Wyatt was given ownership. She believes she’s entitled to it because she actually knows the place and Wyatt didn’t even believe in the supernatural until he came to the ranch

Dr. Herschel Finch is the ranch’s science boy (that’s probably not the official title) and he does his magic + science stuff to keep the ranch safe as well as be the resident cryptid expert. He’s very chaotic neutral and would probably kill someone��yknow…for science! Nobody really quite knows his history, despite him telling lots of strange backstories about his past.

Denny is a feral little orphan werewolf girl that lives on the ranch and has deemed it her home. She causes trouble for Wyatt because he’s easy to mess with, but she’s also the one (other than the Mothman) who sees him as family the fastest

The Mothman is one of the cryptids who regularly stays at the ranch. He was Wyatt’s grandfather’s favourite, and so Wyatt quickly becomes the new favourite of the Mothman. Just look at him 🥺 he’s so,,,🫶

Bonus:

Cryptoria is Finch’s ex-wife. Nobody on the ranch has actually met her, but Finch’s reasoning for why they got divorced was that “she was evil”. They question why he didn’t take that into account when marrying a literal demon, and also why that was the dealbreaker, seeing as he’s not one to be opposed to some evil from time to time, but he doesn’t elaborate. He does explain, however, that she tried to kill him. Despite that, he also actively laments the relationship, clearly missing his hot demon wife. Cryptoria divorced HIM because she found him annoying. They’re soooo toxic for each other. They’re the kind of exes that simultaneously hate each other but would totally make out again if they had the chance.

Gen Dennis and George talk after the final battle. Pulling Dennis into stories revolving around the Weasley’s grief for Fred is always really interesting to me and i’m not going to lie this one almost made me cry.

Gen When Luna’s mom dies she goes to the burrow to tell the Weasley’s her family won’t be coming over for dinner after all and Percy walks her home. I really liked this. Percy’s reactions to a 9 year old Luna trying to weave around saying outright that her mom is dead was really good.

Stan Shunpike/Percy Weasley, I’m very biased towards this one i won’t even lie but i love it very much. It’s cute, it’s sweet. Percy’s characterization is really nice. Stan’s characterization is really fun.
