Everything feels awful right now but it isn't really. We still don't officially have a winner, but regardless of how the presidential election ends up, I wanted to take a minute and find what lights I can in the 3 a.m. darkness. Here's what I know:
* Kentucky overwhelmingly rejected an attempt to undermine the public education system by offering private school vouchers:
* Delaware has elected a transgender woman to the House of Representatives, the first out trans person of any gender ever elected to congress:
* For the first time in history, two Black women will be serving in the senate at the same time, and they are only the fourth and fifth Black women ever elected to the senate:
* New York State has passed a constitutional amendment enshrining the rights of pregnant people (including the right to an abortion), LGBTQIA+ people, the disabled, immigrants regardless of legal status, and other at-risk groups:
* Democrat Josh Stein has beaten self-avowed Nazi Mark Robinson to become governor of North Carolina:
That's everything I know off the top of my head. It's not many bright spots, but it's not zero. I'm going to try to find more and I'll add them to the post. It's the only thing I can think of to do that isn't sobbing and throwing up or looking up Canadian immigration rules.
If you know more good news, I encourage you to add it in reblogs.

Mustang Or Me — Jack Hughes
Summary; you and Jack break up and you head back home.
Content Warnings; angst, breakup, based on ‘mustang or me’ by megan moroney
I packed up my two-door Ford. He don’t love me anymore.
You stare at Jack defeatedly as you stood in the kitchen of your shared apartment , “So you just don’t love me anymore? After 2 and a half years of this you just stop?” Jack looked at you with a sad look on his face, “I’m sorry. God you don’t know how sorry I am.” You shook your head, “Don’t worry about it Jack. I’m gonna pack my stuff and drive back to Pittsburgh.”
Within an hour and a half the past two years of your life were packed up in a boxes in your old beat down mustang. You smiled sadly as you hugged Luke warmly, “Call me man. I’m gonna miss you.” Luke nodded as he hugged you, “I really wanted you to be my sister.” You hugged him back as you stayed silent. You got in your car and dialed your moms phone number, “Hi mommy. Yeah. I’m okay. I’m just coming home. For good. Okay.”
I cursed his name down 65. Need new brakes and new tires. Hell I’m tired.
You groaned as your car drifted slightly into the right lane of the road, “Damn it Jack!” You smacked the steering wheel as you forced the wheel straight. Jack had been on your ass about getting new tires, kept saying it was dangerous that your car drifted because of the cars. You knew he was right but you were too stubborn to listen to him, and you were currently wishing you did.
You also needed new brakes and you had been meaning to get them changed. You had just been so tired lately. You hated fighting with Jack because it made you just so drained and tired. You were just tired of it all. The drama, the stupid fights and feeling invalidated. You were just so tired.
Two years down the drain, two hundred thousand on the gauge.
You sighed as you continued your drive out of Jersey. The ‘Welcome To Delaware’ sign felt like a slap to the face. In the two years you’d been with Jack you saw that sign a handful of times. You two had taken a handful of weekend trips to a ski lodge in upstate Delaware. Two years of your life down the drain haunted you. Almost at much as your car mileage. Two hundred and fifty thousand miles. You shook your head as you were left in silence of your thoughts and the cars passing you.
A broken tail light, a broken heart. How’d we even get this far.
You hadn’t realized how far you had gotten until you saw the flashing red and blue light behind you. You pulled to the side of the dark country road as a police officer approached your vehicle. The man seemed to notice you were on the brink of breaking down, “Good evening ma’am. Do you know why I stopped you?” You tan a hand over your face, “No I’m sorry. I don’t even know where I am honestly. I’m heading to Pittsburgh.” The man nodded, “ You’re in Port Royal Virgina. A little out from Fredicksburg. You have a broken taillight that’s why I pulled you over.”
You sighed sadly, “I’m sorry officer. How much is my ticket?” The officer’s face softened as he took in your current state, “Don’t worry about it. Just get to Pittsburgh safely honey.” You sighed sadly as he walked away, your chest aching like someone had yanked your heart out of your chest.
I’m fighting back tears running on E. Who’s gonna break down first? This mustang or me.
You continued your drive and groaned as you saw the gas tank was hovering on the empty line. It was inevitable that your car would break down. You just hoped it would hold out until Pittsburgh.
A stranger asked if I was okay. Laughed it off said no what gave it away? Was it the leaking oil or the loneliness on my face.
You entered some gas station in the middle of a tiny town in Virginia. You grabbed a energy drink and a bag of chips before heading to the line. An older lady in front of you frowned at your sad expression, “Honey are you okay?” You shook your head with a small laugh, “No, how could you tell?” The woman smiled softly, “You look like you haven’t slept in weeks.” You smiled sadly, “Just moving home after a breakup.” The woman smiled and hugged you softly, “I’m sorry honey.”
I thought I was gonna make it home, but I heard our song on the radio.
You shook the memory of Jack out of your head as you turned up the radio as loud as possible. You hummed along as ‘Fast Car’ by Tracy Chapman was playing. Your head was finally cleared when the song concluded and the next song played.
Who’s if gonna be? I’d put all my money on me.
You pulled your car to the shoulder of the interstate. shutting it off as sobs wracked through your body. You hadn’t cried about the relationship ending until now. You weren’t naïve in any way but you had always thought you and Jack would be together forever. You didn’t anticipate a breakup or Jack losing feelings for you.

Lil Kalish at HuffPost:
The first-ever mobilization of trans voters around a presidential candidate took place on Zoom on Tuesday, as around 1,000 transgender people, including lawmakers, advocates, health care workers and celebrities, logged on to show support for Vice President Kamala Harris’ bid for the presidency. Trans Folks For Harris was one of numerous identity-based webinars to support Harris after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race last month. Over the last few weeks, many LGBTQ+ advocates have embraced Harris, touting her decadeslong record of supporting LGBTQ+ rights, and her decision to make Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who transformed the state into a “trans refuge,” her running mate. This came just after Advocates for Trans Equality released a report showing that 75% of eligible trans voters turned up to the polls in the 2020 presidential election, compared to 67% of the general U.S. population — and that trans voters make up a crucial part of the electorate.
“We know our rights and our progress are on the line, but so is our very sense of belonging,” said Delaware state Sen. Sarah McBride, who was elected as the first openly transgender state senator in the country. If McBride wins her bid for Delaware’s open House seat, she would become the first transgender member of Congress. “We have the opportunity, but more importantly, the responsibility in this election to show a trans young person who fears that the heart of this country is not big enough to love them too, that no matter what extremists say or do, our next president and vice president continue to have their backs,” McBride continued. The Harris-Walz campaign has yet to release any concrete policy plans on civil rights ahead of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week, but advocates say Harris and Walz have demonstrated their commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ rights, access to abortion and the rights to bodily autonomy overall. A draft of the Democrats’ platform, which was released in July, outlines their fight to restore reproductive rights, address racial inequalities, and protect democracy.
“It’s a step forward to ensure that trans people, especially Black and Brown trans women, have the representation and the resources they need to live with dignity and pride,” Zahara Bassett, CEO of Chicago trans advocacy organization Life Is Work, said on the call. “We need to make sure that our future is one of equity, justice and liberation for us all.” Harris was one of the first elected officials to publicly back marriage equality in 2004, and she refused to defend Proposition 8, California’s same-sex marriage ban, in 2008. As a prosecutor, she also led the charge to end the so-called gay and transgender “panic defense,” a legal strategy often used to seek a lesser offense for perpetrators of anti-LGBTQ+ violence or murder by claiming that the victim made same-sex sexual advances. In June 2023, Harris became the first sitting vice president to visit the Stonewall Inn, the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement, and the site of the historic 1969 uprising of LGBTQ+ people fighting back against police raids in the New York City bar. And earlier this week, Harris released a video on X outlining how former President Donald Trump vastly restricted LGBTQ+ rights while in office — and how he would do so again if elected. Trump has already promised to roll back several policies, including blocking access to gender-affirming care for minors and rescinding the Biden administration’s Title IX rules that expand protections for transgender students. Trump’s running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, introduced a bill in the upper chamber to criminalize gender-affirming care for trans youth.
[...] Today’s embrace of Harris is in stark contrast to how some LGBTQ+ voters remembered her last bid for president in 2019. Back then, some advocates took issue with Harris’ tenure as a prosecutor for how she pushed for criminal penalties for parents of truant children and which led to the arrest of many Black and brown people. Many also noted how as attorney general, Harris’ office denied an incarcerated trans woman’s request for gender-affirming care. Harris has since apologized and said she takes “full responsibility” for her office’s actions. But still, not all LGBTQ+ voters are convinced. Harris’ support for the Biden administration’s policies towards Israel’s war in Gaza has alienated some of these voters. In the Democratic primaries this year, hundreds of thousands of voters cast “uncommitted” ballots as a form of protest to push for a cease-fire and end U.S. weapons transfers to Israel.
For the first time in American Presidential history, an organized mobilization effort for trans Americans to support Kamala Harris’s Presidency bid has cropped up, featuring a Trans Folks For Harris Zoom call. 🏳️⚧️

note: I am not tagging this with trigger warnings because I want people to have access to resources they may not otherwise know of.
Seeing the vile rhetoric, the support for a president that’s been found liable for rape, and the hatred towards women in the past week has been…exhausting.
After being assaulted in 2017 and in 2019, I was lucky to find my local rape crisis center on a whim. I didn’t even know it existed and it literally saved my life.
These Crisis Centers / Advocacy Programs offer a variety of resources depending on the location including counseling, legal support/advice, support groups, assistance with reporting (if you choose to), and crisis intervention.
I’ve compiled a list of national, state and military resources in hopes of helping anyone who may need it. If you need help finding something for your specific area feel free to message me and I’d be happy to help, no questions asked.

1. Rescue Dog Who Helped Raise Dozens of Foster Puppies Finds Forever Home
“Three and a half years ago, Noel arrived at Lucky Dog as a pregnant pooch pulled from [an] animal control shelter. […] Once the puppies were old enough to start life on their own, Lucky Dog found homes for all of them. […] Noel was an "amazing mom" to over two dozen foster puppies while staying at [a foster] house.”
2. Radiant cooling device uses significantly less energy than traditional air conditioning
“Testing of the device […] showed the cooling device capable of cooling the skin by approximately 7.3°C. It also showed that it consumed 50.4% less energy than an average air-conditioner of comparable ability. The research team notes that the device can also be run in reverse, to serve as a radiant heater.”
3. How a Native elections official is breaking down voting barriers in Arizona
“Gabriella Cázares-Kelly, Pima County Recorder, [… ran for office in 2020] to represent people who were being ignored by the democratic system and denied the right to vote. […] “People started getting the voter registration cards back, getting their voter IDs in the mail, and they were so excited to show me or thank me for helping them register,” she said.”
4. Scientists are growing [coral] babies in a lab to save animals from extinction
“Each August, corals in Florida release their eggs and sperm into the water[, … but “they] can’t reproduce on their own anymore.” [So, researchers are] collecting and freezing the spawn and growing them into genetically diverse baby corals that can be replanted into the wild[….] These resilient corals could pass important adaptations to their babies[….]”
5. New Legislation Will Accelerate Offshore Wind Energy in Delaware
““The responsible development of offshore wind and the transition to renewable energy is essential for the protection of wildlife, habitats, and communities from the havoc of climate change[….]” “This legislation is the product of careful consideration and input from multiple state agencies, industry experts, energy researchers and environmental advocates[….]””
6. Removal of Apache Trout from Endangered Species List Due to Collaborative Conservation Efforts
“[A]fter more than five decades of recovery efforts by federal, state and Tribal partners, […] the restoration of Arizona’s state fish marks the first […] trout delisted due to recovery, a significant conservation success[….] The Apache trout is found exclusively in streams of the White Mountains in the eastern part of Arizona […] and is sacred to the White Mountain Apache Tribe.”
7. [Texas] State court rules Austin must release files on police complaint
“Under the act, records of any complaint – even if no disciplinary action was taken – must be handed over to the civilian-led Office of Police Oversight. [… T]he ruling ushers in a new level of oversight of the complaint process and the department writ-large.”
8. Super-rare hairy-nosed wombat caught waddling through a woodland in Australia
“Ecologists at Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) say the video footage provides exciting evidence wombats are breeding in the refuge again. […] There are only 400 of them in the world, making them rarer than the giant panda and the Sumatran tiger. […] “Although this isn’t the first joey born at the refuge, it is the first juvenile spotted for a few years.””
9. The country’s biggest electric school-bus fleet will also feed the grid
“[The] country’s first all-electric school-bus fleet[,…] which serve the district’s special-needs students, […] can charge with low-cost power and discharge spare capacity at times of grid stress[…. V]ehicle-to-grid charging is something for which electric school buses are particularly well suited.”
10. The Push to Save Horseshoe Crabs Is Gaining Momentum
“Conservationists hope new restrictions on harvesting and synthetic alternatives to a crab-blood compound used in biomedical testing can turn the tide for the ancient arthropods, whose eggs are a vital food source for Red Knots [threatened migratory birds]. […] Now conservationists are in the thick of a multi-pronged push to save both species.”

any more good news? Tumblr is my only source of news lol.
Sure thing! Here’s some more positive news:
Dems have continued gaining seats in the House and Senate. House so far is 207 (D) - 216 (R) with 218 needed for majority. Senate is 47 (D) - 53 (R) with 50 needed for majority. Despite Republicans leading, the more even split will make it easier for Dems to block bills and legislation.
State Senator Sarah McBride became the first openly transgender candidate elected to Congress by winning Delaware’s only House seat.
The House just rejected a bill that could have given the Trump administration the power to stifle free speech, target political opponents, and punish groups that disagree with them. This is a victory for all our right to speak truth to power.
A federal court blocked a Louisiana law requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom, ruling the law is unconstitutional. This is a victory for religious freedom.
Multiple states such as California, New York, and Illinois have come forward to enshrine rights and protections while making additional efforts to block actions Trump may pull.
Some of these rights include:
New York enforced protections for LGBTQ+ individuals into law, officially banning discrimination against LGBTQ+ people
Illinois has enshrined reproductive rights.
Illinois has reaffirmed labor rights.
Illinois has raised the wage.
California police will block any attempts by Donald Trump to restrict abortion rights for women within the state.
California is also working on putting protections for LGBTQ+ people into law and banning discrimination
ExxonMobil just announced they will oppose Donald Trump’s plans to pull out of the Paris climate agreement. It’s truly crazy when an oil giant has to say, “no, your plans are actually too bad for the environment.”
Trump has his sentencing in New York coming up for his 34 felonies. The court has no intention of dropping the case despite him being President-elect.
Trump allies and insurrectionists face sentencing in Arizona.
Elon Musk is facing a class action lawsuit out of Texas, where voters are claiming they got played. Turns out, that so-called "random" $1 million giveaway wasn’t random at all—winners were reportedly handpicked. And here’s the kicker: everyone who entered handed over their personal information, only for it to allegedly end up fueling Musk’s political agenda and personal interests.
On top of that, Musk also faces the possibility of getting deported for lying on immigration forms. He launched his career working illegally in the U.S.
Somewhat funny: Elon Musk is getting flamed after Grok, X’s A.I. chatbot, admits Musk is “a significant spreader of misinformation.”
In-fighting seems to be brewing within the Republican Party as they are increasingly more upset by the appointments Trump is making to his cabinet. These appointments don’t necessarily mean they’ll serve because they have to approved by congress. I personally hope they all kill each other though.

WILMINGTON, Del. − A federal jury convicted Hunter Biden of federal gun charges, a historic first for the offspring of a sitting president, after a trial featuring wrenching emotional testimony about his drug use from his ex-wife and sister-in-law.
President Joe Biden's son faces up to 25 years in prison for three charges − lying on a federal screening form about his drug use, lying to a gun dealer and possessing the gun − although first-time, nonviolent offenders typically get shorter sentences.
The 54-year old businessman and attorney's case came after a plea deal fell apart in July 2023 that could have resolved gun and taxes charges without prison time. Hunter Biden still faces another federal trial starting Sept. 5 in California for allegedly avoiding taxes.
Biden's legal troubles coincide with his father campaigning for reelection. But the elder Biden as the trial kicked off issued a statement supporting his son and later told ABC News he wouldn't pardon him.
Follow along for live updates from the USA TODAY Network.
What is Hunter Biden guilty of?
The president's son was convicted on three firearms felonies. In October 2018, Hunter Biden walked into a gun shop north of Wilmington, Delaware, and purchased a revolver. People who purchase firearms are required to fill out a standardized form that asks whether they are an unlawful user or are addicted to controlled substances, narcotics and other listed substances. Biden is accused of answering "no" to that question on the form.
But Biden has been open about his longtime struggles with crack cocaine addiction. He's written about it in his 2021 memoir, "Beautiful Things," and discussed it during a court hearing last year, stating he's been sober since 2019.
Biden faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison, although first-time and non-violent offenders are often given shorter terms.

Hunter Biden looks to lawyer, wife after verdict announced
Hunter Biden pat Abbe Lowell, his lawyer, on the back after his felony conviction was announced. He then turned to look at his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden and hugged other members of his defense team.
He was holding his wife's hand as he was ushered into elevators after the court adjourned.

Hallie Biden received texts about drugs from Hunter Biden
Hallie Biden, the widow of Beau Biden, testified during the trial about how her brother-in-law introduced her to drugs. She also walked the jury through a series of text messages in the days after Hunter Biden bought the gun on Oct. 12, 2018.
A text the next day said he was behind a baseball stadium in Wilmington “waiting on a dealer named Mookie.”
Hallie Biden later texted Hunter Biden, stating that she tried calling him “500 times in the past 24 hours.” He eventually responded: “I was sleeping on a car smoking crack on 4th Street and Rodney.”
Hunter Biden called Hallie Biden ‘stupid’ for trashing gun
Hallie Biden told the jury she found the gun in Hunter Biden's car 11 days after he bought it. Rather than risk their kids finding it, she put the gun in a leather case and drove to a grocery store, where she threw it into a trash can.
“I realized it was a stupid idea now, but I was just panicking,” Hallie Biden said.
Hunter Biden confronted her when he discovered what she had done.
“It’s hard for me to believe anyone is that stupid,” Hunter Biden said in a text. “Do you want me dead?” he asked in a later text.
Retiree found gun in grocery store trash can
An 80-year-old retiree, Edward Banner, who scavenged trash containers for aluminum cans, found the gun outside Janssen’s Market in Greenville. A state police lieutenant tracked him down and asked whether he’d found anything unusual.
“I definitely remember finding that,” Banner said.
FBI chemist found cocaine residue on Hunter Biden gun pouch
Forensic chemist Jason Brewer testified that he found cocaine in the residue on the leather pouch that held Hunter Biden’s gun. Two spots on the pouch had a “minimal amount” of “off-white powder,” which Brewer pointed out in a picture prosecutors projected onto a screen in Biden’s trial on gun charges.
“Cocaine was identified within the residual white particles I sampled,” he told the jury.
Biden trial followed collapse of plea deal for gun and tax charges
A plea agreement that fell apart last July offered the possibility Biden could avoid jail time for all of the charges. Noreika rejected the deal because of disputes between prosecutors and defense lawyers about Biden’s protection from future charges.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed the U.S. attorney in Delaware, David Weiss, a special counsel to continue an independent investigation. Biden's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, argued unsuccessfully the charges should be dismissed because no new evidence had emerged since the plea agreement.
The gun indictment charged Biden with knowingly deceiving a firearms dealer by buying a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver. He was charged with falsely filling out a federal form denying he was addicted to any narcotics. And he was charged with knowingly possessing the revolver despite the restrictions against people addicted to drugs owning firearms. The three charges carried a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
The tax indictment charges Biden with three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanors. He allegedly engaged in a scheme in which he failed to pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed taxes from 2016 through 2019, and also evaded tax assessment for 2018 when he filed false returns.
The previous agreement would have allowed Biden to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges, which could have resulted in no jail time, and enter a pretrial program for a gun charge that could have been dismissed if he complied.
But Republicans blasted the agreement as a sweetheart deal and Hunter Biden became a lightning rod for criticism of his father.

We have his name from the FBI
Thomas Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. 20 years old. Registered as a Republican voter, but gave $15 to a progressive PAC on the day Biden was sworn into office. While I'm reporting factoids, Trump will be spending the night in his private New Jersey golf club, which was almost certainly a decision made with heavy input from the Secret Service, as a private club is gonna be way harder to get into and way easier to secure than just a regular house, or a building in any city. Biden was in Delaware when it happened, and has returned to the White House, which was also almost certainly at the behest of the Secret Service. The President has announced a pause to all campaign ads and messages to supporters, and it's worth noting that he legally cannot even do so much as suggest that the various PACs and campaign groups supporting him do the same, as that would be a violation of campaign laws, since they cannot be formally connected to his campaign in any way, even one like this.
The NYC police are surging security even though Trump won't be in the city as a precaution, both in general across the city and at Trump Tower and 40 Wall Street(the Trump Building). Secretary Mayorkas has said that the DHS and Secret Service will be working to bolster security for both the Trump and Biden campaigns. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has stated that he and his staff are in contact with security coordinators for the Republican National Convention, which is still set to begin on Monday in Milwaukee.
Of particular note among the flood of condolences is that of the most recent(prior to today) victim of an attempted political assassination, former Representative Gabrielle Giffords. Representative Nancy Pelosi's message also made reference to her family's unfortunate encounter with this savagery, as her husband's assault in 2022 was politically motivated according to the assailant.
One of Trump's campaign advisors, a man named Chris LaCivita, decided that the most appropriate thing to do was to tweet
well of course they tried too keep him off the ballot , they tried to put him in jail and now you see this
which absolutely doesn't imply that this is the fault of Biden and his campaign, nor does it have any potential to stoke conspiracy that they ordered it directly. It has since been deleted, which will hopefully be what I say tomorrow about Mr. LaCivita's position in the Trump campaign.
I have not found any updates on the two audience members who were taken to the hospital; the last report on them from APNews described them having been taken to a local hospital in "critical condition" at 11:19pm central time. There is as yet no information on any motive for the shooter.
EDIT: To clarify, it was the last report that was at 11:19pm. The audience members were taken to the hospital immediately, with the first reports on that from AP being at around 7-7:30pm central time.

Anyway I just saw a post saying that the protests here in the US are “taking away attention” from what’s actually happening in Gaza and “LARPing oppression” as if 1) the whole point of the protests is to put attention on Gaza and call for a ceasefire and 1.5) shows they’re exclusively getting their news from mainstream cable networks and 2) it’s not the fuckin media’s own fault they’re more interested in covering protests than the actual genocide, and 3) the students are somehow not facing oppression ???????
For one, what’s the solution here? Tell these students who feel very strongly (and rightfully so!) about this issue to just give up and go home? Who exactly does that benefit? Oh, right, the universities who are benefiting from this genocide, as well as the federal government. Good plan.
For two, I realize that the university at the center of this is an Ivy League school, and that the students who are there are privileged in many ways. However, that does not change the fact they are facing violence from the university and from police. That does not change the fact many of these students are Palestinian, Jewish, or other minorities. Beyond that, Columbia is not the only school where protests are happening. Emerson, USC, Yale, Harvard, MIT, Tufts, Cal Poly Humboldt, NYU, Vanderbilt, Brown, University of Michigan, UC Berkeley, Emory, Indiana University, Purdue, George Washington University, UCLA, Northeastern, Ohio State, UT Austin, Arizona State, Washington University St Louis, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, University of Georgia Athens, Sonoma State, San Francisco State, Sacramento State, University of Washington, Virginia Tech, Princeton, University of Minnesota, UConn, USC, University of Illinois, University of Utah, McGill, Portland State, UNC Chapel Hill, Tulane, University of Florida Gainesville, University of Colorado Denver, Case Western Reserve, City College of New York, Rutgers, Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland College Park, Barnard College, Pomona College, DePaul, Georgetown, University of Delaware, University of Arizona, University of New Mexico, University of Wisconsin, Virginia Commonwealth University, Oberlin, UC San Diego, University of San Diego, and I’m sure many others have or are currently participating in protests. Many of these schools are not elite universities only the best of the best (or the most money) get in. For crying out loud, my ass got into Indiana University.
That begs another question as well. Yes, these students at Ivy League schools have privilege. How else would you prefer they use it? When one has privilege, it is imperative to utilize it for the benefit of those one has privilege over.
Anyway. Free Palestine. Defund the police.
“Taking away attention from what’s actually going on” this is like saying the university protests against the Vietnam War were taking away attention from what’s actually going on in Vietnam. (Which I’m realizing now was probably an actual talking point at the time, but sounds ridiculous now.)

A car has crashed into another vehicle which is part of Joe Biden’s motorcade in the state of Delaware. 🤔
Photo of the driver that crashed into Joe Biden's motorcade outside of campaign headquarters in Delaware.
Are these even real cops?
You would think the secret service and heavy police presence would be all over this guy?
Another staged event? 🤔

Lisa McCrossan was found deceased in New Castle, Delaware during the early-morning hours of April 26th, 2015. Police responded to call around 5:30 AM that morning about a woman lying on the ground along Route 9 near River Road. The woman, who was later identified as Lisa, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 36 years old at the time of her death.
Investigators have not disclosed Lisa's exact cause of death, but they did share that her body had signs of traumatic injury. There are also very few details available about the investigation into Lisa's murder. What is known is that Lisa had been discharged from Christiana Hospital approximately 48 hours before she was found dead. The following afternoon, a pedestrian matching Lisa's description was spotted near the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Appleby in Bear.
The next documented sighting of Lisa occurred when her body was seen by the 911 caller on the morning she was found deceased. Years have passed, and it appears that investigators have not had a break in the case. In 2023, a public appeal was made for anyone with information about Lisa's murder or her activities in the days leading up to her death to come forward.
The Delaware State Police are in charge of Lisa's homicide investigation. If you have any information that could help solve the case, please contact the Homicide Unit at 302-365-8441.

I was watching all of Ben's videos related to the states' haunts because it's Halloween, and here are my favs from "Table Regions: Northeast Haunts":
(my thoughts are in parenthesis)
1.) Mass staring somewhere everytime he appeared, looking like he's about to say, "They fr thought THAT was haunted?"
2.) Jersey: You can try and find the Jersey Devil in the Pine Barrens.. before it finds you ☺️
3.) Delaware: You can try to collect all 4 ghosts at the Governor's mansion in Dover. (We're collecting ghosts? Sign me up)
4.) PA: Stay in Hotel Bethlehem, ask for room 932, and say Hi to Francis for me. (I'm awful with directions so I appreciate how direct this was :D)
5.) Connecticut: If you go to Bruce Museum, you can see a couple of ghosts in love. (aww <3)
6.) New Hampshire: You can check out the New Hampshire Asylum for the insane... or the New Hampshire State Hospital. Whatever they're calling it. (are they nursing the dead in this hospital too? that's cool)
7.) New York: I would say you should visit the Amityville House, but I really don't want you to. (aww, is NY caring about us?)
8.) Vermont: The Vermont Police Academy in Pittsford is haunted by a ghost named Mary.. there's a lot of ghosts names Mary, huh?
9.) Rhode Island: You could visit the ghost dog at Forth Wetherhill in Jamestown. (Flo and Loui would attempt to pet it, and so would I)

On June 23, 1903, a white mob of more than 4,000 people in Wilmington, Delaware, burned a Black man named George White to death before he could stand trial. Mr. White was arrested and accused of killing a young white woman. He adamantly denied any involvement in the crime but was denied the opportunity to defend himself in court. During the era of racial terror, many Black people were lynched after being accused of murder. The mere suggestion of Black-on-white violence could provoke mob violence and lynching. Here, despite Mr. White’s insistence that he was innocent, Wilmington residents were determined to lynch him without delay. Within one week of Mr. White’s arrest, two lynch mobs attempted to abduct him from the workhouse where he was being held. White Wilmington residents talked openly about these lynching plans. In a sermon on June 21, local white pastor Robert Elwood urged white residents to exact swift public vengeance by lynching Mr. White. A lynch mob began forming the next day, and its members spent the next two days meticulously planning the public spectacle lynching that took place on June 23. Despite this public planning, in which mob members even shared their plans in advance with police officers, authorities charged with protecting Mr. White did not relocate him to a different jail or take any other measures to prevent the lynching. In the early morning hours of June 23, the lynch mob had grown to thousands and included people who had traveled from out of town to participate. The mob stormed the workhouse where Mr. White was being held and threatened to destroy every cell to get him unless authorities turned him over. Officers ultimately chose to protect the property of the jail rather than the life of a man they had a legal duty to protect; after leading the mob to his cell, the officers turned Mr. White over and “stood by to await the inevitable.” The mob removed Mr. White from the jail and led him, chained, through a crowd of thousands to the pyre built outside the jail, where he was bound with rope and forced into the open flames. As Mr. White burned to death, the crowd of white men, women, and children there to participate in the lynching threw rocks at him and cheered. After Mr. White was dead, members of the mob continued to shoot at his charred body, and lynching participants took pieces of his remains as “souvenirs”; a local white physician reportedly took Mr. White’s skull and right foot to display in the window of a local saloon. Though thousands of known residents were complicit in the lynching of George White, no one was ever held responsible. Mr. White is one of over 4,400 victims of racial terror lynching killed in the U.S., and more than 300 victims killed outside the states of the former Confederacy, between 1877 and 1950. In 2019, the Delaware Social Justice Remembrance Coalition gathered with hundreds of community members to unveil a historical marker memorializing Mr. White.

Orion Rummler at The 19th:
WILMINGTON — Sarah McBride won Delaware’s at-large U.S. House seat on Tuesday, Decision Desk HQ projects. She campaigned on expanding Delawareans’ access to health care — an effort on which she has focused her career in the state’s 1st Senate district. In January, McBride will be sworn in as the first out transgender member of Congress.
McBride’s ascension marks yet another milestone for the millennial state legislator. As the country’s first out transgender state senator, the first transgender person to speak at the Democratic National Convention and the first out trans woman to intern at the White House, McBride has repeatedly broken barriers in politics and proven that voters are ready to elect transgender candidates into elected office. Although McBride didn’t run for Congress to make history, the significance of her campaign for transgender Americans during a time of intense political backlash has propelled a national following behind her. That includes Daisy Hollman and Jimmy Fitzpatrick, two Californians who knocked on hundreds of doors for McBride across Delaware the week before Election Day.
[...] This election for Delaware’s seat in the House of Representatives had no incumbent for the first time in years, as U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester stepped down to run for Delaware’s open Senate seat. McBride was projected to be the winner early on; she had robust fundraising and amassed key endorsements from state political leaders, including Blunt Rochester. Democrats have held Delaware’s at-large House seat for over a decade. On the campaign trail, McBride called for increased federal investments to support nurses, primary care physicians and independent health care clinics in Delaware. She touted her accomplishments as a state senator, including the passage of a statewide paid family and medical leave insurance program and a recently signed law that is expected to generate more than $100 million in new Medicaid funding for Delaware.
She faced a Republican opponent who endorsed transphobic policies. John Whalen III, a retired police officer, staked his campaign on cutting federal spending and restricting immigration. He also publicly endorsed Project 2025, the conservative Heritage Foundation’s blueprint for a second Trump administration. The plan equates the act of being transgender — or “transgender ideology” — to pornography.
Rep.-elect Sarah McBride (D) made herstory by being the first trans person to be elected to Congress by winning the DE-AL seat.
