With the new Wonder Boy comics take on Tim being super tall I'd like to imagine Tim being a super super late bloomer.

Danny wonders why such a tiny (Damian is in fact quite tall for his age but Danny deals with so many eldtrich "horrors" everyday that everything seems tiny) kid is going around and befriending obviously older teens

One day Damian announces that he will bring over his friend which makes the rest of the batclan look at him in disbelief

So of course they are quite shocked when Damian actually brings a human being! A bit raggedy looking but he also quite obviously looks after Damian as good as he can

Damian refuses to let Danny be adopted because it's his friend, you can't take it away from him! (also in his mind Danny still equals to a feral cat he barely managed to bribe into the home, they are gonna scare him off at this rate!!)

A lot of shenanigans happen but Damian thinks the worst of worst is the fact that drake had started to flirt with his cat friend! Preposterous!

It takes them an embarrassing amount of time to realize Danny used to be a vigilante and they are still in the middle of getting Damian out of the cat mindset so it gets put out of mind

Brainstorming? Count me in!

Ok so I’ve heard a tiny bit about the vampire thing (I’m pretty sure I saw pics of Dick as a vampire going full evil vampire overlord and then got the hell outta dodge because—- I’m soft. And I totally knew DC wouldn’t give me the happy ending I needed to compensate for the angst.)

But if we go with the concept of it and apply it to Time Traveler Dami? Yes. Omg. Y E S.

Jason and Dami being the sole survivors of the Batfamily and being codependent to high heavens? Sign me tf up!

Damian’s emotional and social capabilities have been stunted to begin with, now imagine him having to watch Dick, who used to be his main source of comfort and safety for a long time, be turned into a vampire and entirely lose himself to the “dark”?

Damian did NOT cope well with that at the start, but Jason (thank the gods) was there to rescue Damian just in time before becoming a nice little Robin shaped meal for the (newly?) turned Dick.

It was touch and go for a while, Jason and Damian had to adjust to being each other’s only shoulder to lean on, to having each other’s back no matter what, but they made it work. Tim left them with a shit load of contingency plans and encouraging video logs, enough to eventually allow the two of them to fight back and try to avenge the rest of their family.

And yeah, the two of them still couldn’t stomach to look at Dick longer than absolutely necessary, to really go in for the kill when they fought him, but that’s ok, because after years of fighting they’re finally gaining a foothold. The vampires’ numbers are finally starting to dwindle.

It works until it doesn’t, because while Jason and Damian cannot bear to go in for the kill, Dick absolutely can.

And Damian is forced to watch Dick brutally murder Jason (maybe even in a desperate bid to protect Damian).

Damian snaps.

Maybe he finally kills Dick, maybe he doesn’t, all that he knows is that when he next wakes up Jason is looking at him with eyes that are too blue from a face that’s at least a decade too young.

And Damian should probably be worried about the repercussions of screwing with the timeline—

— but he doesn’t care. There’s nothing in his future to protect anymore. His family is dead. Bruce is dead. Tim is dead. Jason is dead. And Dick is—

Damian doesn’t care, because Jason is right in front of him. Alive. And by god he’s going to make it stay that way.

Damian absolutely goes on for several days ignoring his injuries, insisting that “nowhere is safe” despite Jason’s increasingly desperate urgings to go to a clinic (a tiny kid is NOT equipped to handle these kinds of injuries) and hovering over Jason like a protective mama bear until they more or less stumble directly into Tim’s path.

Damian… may or may not be entirely lucid at this point (what day is it? When did he last sleep? Wait, where’s Jason- ah, there he is. Wait, Tim, Tim is here-) and after some tense moments where Jason and Tim argue with each other Damian just kinda— breaks. The last time he saw Tim— his Tim— was when Jason and him reached the last of his video logs, shortly before he’d gotten killed by—-

Tim and Jason absolutely panic and drag Damian over to Drake Manor to finally treat his wounds.

(Meanwhile, Batman and Robin (aka Dick Grayson) are investigating a temporal anomaly but quickly move on when they cannot find anything immediately out of place.

Poor Dick is in for a world of confusion (and horror) when he eventually meets Future!Damian.)

Look I think this story would be PERFECT if it focused on the “Damian tries to heal” thing and the “impending vampire apocalypse” thing is more of a “side quest” that’s resolved fairly easily. Like, the potential heartbreak of realizing that if they acted only a tiny bit earlier all those tragedies could have been avoided— delicious. (All while still serving on the fluff front.)

Prompt:

Damian, who has just lost the last member of his family, goes off the deep end and, in a fit of violent rage, goes tumbling through a portal and back in time.

Jason doesn’t know how the scary guy with the gunshot wound became his problem but he’s not heartless enough to leave him to bleed out beside some dumpster in Crime Alley.

Headcanons - When Tim & Damian Actually get along...

It's a really gradual thing that takes a solid year to accomplish

The process is completed when they both end up on a mission/abandoned/kidnapped together and are forced to rely on just each other for a solid week

Damian is quite surprised by how feral/brutal/focused Tim gets when protecting him... Though he is horrified Tim doesn't apply the same amount of effort into protecting himself (it is almost a negative amount of effort if Dami is being accurate with his observations)

Tim is surprised by how concerned Damian is with him after an especially bad moment when Tim nearly gets himself killed protecting Dami.

When finally safe at home, the two don't advertise at all that they are close now. Certain people notice (Alfred, Cass) but others are blind to it.

They will hang out from time to time. Though it may appear they are doing their own things in tablets/computers/video game systems, there's a better than 50% chance they might be playing a multiplayer game together.

They are brutally efficient at certain multiplayer games (FPS zombies, Monster Hunter) together. Though they play these while in separate rooms so they don't gather an audience when speaking with each other over headsets.

They also like to play competitive racing games against one another for best times and leader board placements. You can tell who is currently ahead by which of then appears most smug when their paths cross and which one seems most surly.

In the field they normally aren't paired together because Bruce/Dick are still not aware they can now. On the rare occasion they do have fly together, they treat the initial assignment with indifference to each other, though both are inwardly amused by the standard no fighting, no cutting each other's lines, blah, blah, blah lecture they get in the Cave at the start of the night. The two usually have a laugh about it later once they're out of earshot of the fam.

They may both have a running bet in when the lecture stops being delivered and who doesn't give it first. They each add $5 to the pot when they get the lecture.

Pot is currently up to $320.

Tim will lie without batting an eyelash to Bruce/Dick for Damian if the kid is upset with his father/eldest brother and hiding in his room at the manor or at his safe house in the refurbished movie theater.

Damian is the first to learn what happened during Tim's journey to find Bruce and what Ra's did. He gets very protective of Tim whenever there is a case involving the League of Assassins, or if their assassins are spotted in Gotham.

Tim takes Damian train surfing for the first time.

When either are sick/seriously injured, the other will stay at their bedside as long as possible. This is the first clue to the greater family at large that Tim and Dami are close now.

Somewhere down the line, there is a resurgence of the Clench, and it hits the former survivors harder than most new infections. Tim, with his missing spleen, is one of the first infected and goes down hard. Damian discovers him collapsed in his safe house, behind a glass wall in his bunker, bleeding from the eyes and he's near hysterical when he calls his father/Dick for help because Tim locked himself in using quarantine procedures that Damian can't hack.

Tim does survive, but Damian is wrecked with worry the entire time.

What if Damian was raised/adopted by a villain like in the series where Talia is not able to raise him and leaves him in an orphanage or some and some villain just sees him trying to attack him with his baby fists and goes >:0 yea now hes mine :D

Then years later superman/boy and Damian meet and Jon has the same thoughts but like in a different context and Damian is still trying to attack him while looking like an angry cat lol xjzdftyujk

• ivy wanted to get batmans attention, so she attacked the gotham orphanage. she wanted to show how humans were destroying the earth. she was also working with the penguin and two-face, but she planned on betraying the two later on.

• she was growing weeds and plants all around the orphanage until it was fully covered in greens. she didn’t like hurting children, but she needed to distract batman from two face & penguin

• everything was going well until she get her babies being hurt and low and behold, a child is doing this

• attacking her plants. it was interesting to watch. but she didn’t like how he was hurting them

• she found it admirable, but it was annoying. all the other children were cowering in fear, but this one was fighting and trying to get out. it was amusing.

• so she went towards the child. he looked feral. he tried to attack her. throwing whatever is around him, one hit.

• one hit her. a baby hit her. admirable.

Ivy: how do you feel about healing the planet? that is what I’m trying to do and batman doesn’t understand.

Damian, finally not fighting; huh?

• ivy explained her purpose, how she explained how people were ruining the planet and how the planet is slowly dying. Damian wanted to help the planet. and so he joined her.

• so ivy yoinked a child

• flash forward a few years and damians in metropolis scoping out a plant sanctuary. it was dead, so he was planting down seed ivy gave him that would grow and protect him immediately if somethint were to attack, he couldn’t control plants, sadly, but ivy thought of an alternative

• damian was just minding his business, the guards were already wrapped up by plants. he only had a few seeds left

• then jon comes: because of course he does

Jon: hands where i can see them!

Damian: I thought supers had X-ray vision

Jon: it’s- it’s a figure of speech!

Damian: you’re not good at this, are you?

• jon kent, the new superman, damian heard the brief talks about him, his real name being jon kent because clark kent, the original, outted his identity. why? hell if Damian knew.

• but Damian didn’t care and went and tried to attack him immediately, look- damain didn’t grow up in the league this time, so he hasn’t as- expert-y at martial arts. he only knows what ivy ( & a few others )had taught him. ivy likes to keep him away from the real world, claiming he wouldn’t like it. she’s not wrong, but Damian doesn’t want to be locked inside like rapunzel

• jon just dodged as Damian tried to attack him, tje boy was cute, but jon was sure this boy caused the plant issue they were having

• jon ended up being able to restrain him.. for a second until he felt something crawling up his leg. a vine.

• oh shit now he’s being thrown

Damian: sorry

Ivy: come on, plant the last of the seeds and we can return home

The Animated Batfam Show I’ll Probably Never Write

(But have in fact plotted out. Extensively.)

So I made a post that seemed to generate some interest based on the evidently relatable scenario of plotting out an extremely self indulgent Batfam Animated Show

(Because we all know that if DC so much as hinted that they were going to release such a thing an astronomical number of people would go absolutely feral, myself included.)

....& In lieu of the qualifications or artistic ability required to get in touch with a DC executive and make an elevator pitch, I’m going to go ahead & post my outline for The Batfam Animated Show I Wish There Was.

Each season will have its own post that goes episode-by-episode later but here’s an overview:

[Disclaimer: The DC timeline is, frankly, a mess & tough to find an easy reference for. Trying to be married to it would only ever be an exercise in both futility and frustration. Lots of things are referenced and/or changed loosely and it’s largely canon compliant pre-series start, but once the series gets going things are ignored or shifted around for the purposes of self-indulgence, in favor of original plots, or to streamline the narrative. I’m open to crowdsourced “Um Actually--”s re:the timeline/canon events, but my disclaimer stands. I also simply do not care about the distinctions between separate timelines if events are not mutually exclusive.]

Structure is aiming more for Teen Titans than Young Justice, with a slightly more serious tone but plenty of shenanigans as well. Focuses on Dick, Cass, Jason, Tim, and Damian (and Duke when we reach him) with Bruce, Alfred, Babs, and Steph featuring more peripherally because there’s only so much you can fit into one project.

But it aims to at least touch on all of the extended Bat Family either through cameos, references, guest appearances, or shenanigans.

Season One:

We start off with Damian’s intro to the family because A) it’s a good jumping off point & B) one of the whole reasons I wrote this was the idea of a Gala episode where Damian gets introduced to society (while at the same time Bruce tells Clark & Diana about his having a son) titled “Debutante” because, c’mon, that’s a snazzy idea.

In any case, it’s a Dami-centric season. Starts with Damian showing up, goes into his backstory, has shenanigans as he adjusts to life at the manor, clashes about moral codes, and culminates in events based on Ra’s trying to snatch Damian’s body as a vessel & Damian deciding to go all in on staying with the family.

Season Two:

We are ignoring canon events to give you a season that focuses on Cass, because I wanted to do the first five seasons in reverse-acquisition order (as opposed to reverse-age order, because I like Cass being Just A Little Bit Older than Jason, and I have plans for Tim’s season that need some distance between the start of his season & the end of Damian’s).

Highlights include: Steph comes back to Gotham, an adventure with the Birds of Prey, Bring Your Kid To Work Day, & an ongoing original plotline featuring Cass, the Titans, and Deathstroke that sparks the end-of-season episodes, while offscreen on the last episode, Bruce is “killed” by Darkseid because the next season...

Season Three:

...Focuses on Tim, and starts after Bruce gets back from his little adventure in time, because I want to address Tim’s little field trip, but fitting that and Battle for the Cowl and just... All of that, into a single season in real time? Does not spark joy. So, we do a sexy little time skip.

Events that happened during the time skip get addressed in a condensed manner through enlightening conversations and flashbacks, everyone adjusts to the new family dynamics and actually communicates (with shenanigans as the framing device.) Canon is cherry picked and Ra’s is the villain for the finale episodes because it ties everything into a neat little bow.

Season Four:

Jason-centric, and ignores canon events in favor of an Arkham breakout of all the heavy hitters in the Rogues Gallery, including the clown, who has been almost entirely absent of the narrative up until this point except as a reference, primarily so that I could have a fear toxin episode where Dick reveals that he once, however temporarily, killed the Joker, but also because I thought it could be fun & that it fits.

We get a fair number of flashbacks, cycle through some of the more notable rogues and their shenanigans, Duke Thomas’s parents meet their unfortunate fates (modified to streamline the narrative), there are allusions to but not direct inspiration from Death of the Family, and the Joker sets the kids up in a giant board game of death in the finale which culminates in some very therapeutic violence.

Season Five:

Dick-centric, and we’re going for a very Grayson focused Night Of The Owls inspired season, because I like the Court & it sets us up for allowing Duke to join the family. (This one’s not properly plotted out yet because I’m planning on actually reading the source material before I do so, and I’m also still deciding whether to include the Robin War in this season or leave that arc for season six. Leaning on including Robin War in season five & having season six have a finale with multiversal stakes but with the bulk of the season being shenanigans including Duke, though.)

Season Six:

(….Is also not plotted out on account of not having made a definite decision about the culmination of season five, and on account of needing to do more research, but rest assured that it’ll focus on Duke & feature the Row siblings in at least one episode. Leaning towards multiversal stakes for the finale episodes that’ll allow cameos for extended Batfam members that otherwise wouldn’t be featured, and intended as the wrap-up for the series.)

Thus Concludes The Overview Of My Purely Notional Batfam Animated Elevator Pitch

SO I know I’m like, super late to the party, but I finally got my hands on Robin 2021 and there is literally no one for me to talk to about it so now I’m just screaming my thoughts into the void ✌

First off, before i even bought the first two issues, I read through a lot of other people’s opinions on it to kinda get an idea of where it was going characterization-wise for Damian, and because of all the mixed reactions, I figured I should just read it myself and find out. Now I am the FURTHEST thing from a comic book authority, so like, this is truly just an opinion piece but if it convinces anyone to give the run a chance, then yay!!! Honestly, I’m really glad I gave it a shot because I’m genuinely hooked! I’m actually excited about this series (and it scares me lol)!!!

I'm gonna separate my thoughts into two sections: characters, and story, mainly for my own ease, but also if anyone cares more about one thing or the other it's easier to distinguish. But,  the line is a little blurry so if I end up getting a little too much into the characterization in the story section, just bear with me lmao. OH and I'm going to try and keep this as un-spoilery as possible but we'll just have to see. SOOOOOOOO

Characters

I think it goes without saying that Melnikov's art is absolutely gorgeous, and really does show how much Damian has grown up. It makes me want to sob its so beautiful, everyone is so pretty, even the guy that looks like a washed up, high as fuck Tony Stark lmao. But moving on to the actual characters,

Rose Wilson

I honestly don't know too much about Rose, I haven't read enough about her to say anything about her characterization and how it compares to her other appearances, or whether or not she is OOC, but so far, I'm enjoying her taking up the "big sis" role, like, immediately lmao.

I don't know how much I trust her yet, but I definitely get the vibe that even if she does betray Dami in any way, she's probably gonna stick her neck out for Dami again and he's probably gonna do the same.

I'm really intrigued about her motivations for being here. Obviously, Respawn has something to do with it, but I want to know what's up with that. I've seen a lot of theories and I'm so excited. Also side note, that Black Swan chick is hot, and I can't wait to see more of her in action!!!

I feel like Ravager knows a WHOLE lot more than Dami does about the interesting things going on on the island, mainly because she's been doing a lot more sitting and waiting than he has as of yet, but I'm hoping to see more of the two of them doing detective-y sleuthing together. Honestly tho, I dig it. It's cute! She's cute! She isn't annoying (yet) but I don't know if I care too much about her other than she would make a cute friend for Dami.

I think the problem with DC is that they know people LOVE Harley Quinn and they try so hard to make characters just like her but it always falls short, so honestly I am a little wary of her character development in this run, but I'm willing to give her a shot since her little coffin purse on the cover of the second issue is so damn cute. I'm a slut for character design, okay?

Oh speaking of Flatline and Dami, I don't ship it and I don't want them to force a romantic relationship into Damian's "coming of age"/"soul-searching" moment okay? Because that's what this run is about, at least to me! More on that in the story section!

Basically, Flatline is interesting, or at least has the potential to be, but I don't want to get my hopes up because DC is notorious for disservicing their female characters 😕

I think the mixed reaction to her is valid, I don't think she's had much time to make a solid impression yet, so I guess you'd have to read it for yourself. Personally, I don't understand why people immediately hate her, especially because she's like, 14, and what kid that age isn't annoying? like at least a little bit lmao! But, yeah. I don't trust her either but literally everyone on this island is sketchy at least and a murderer at best, so hey 🤷‍♀️

Damian

His new outfit lmaoooo at first I was like "WHaT is this child wearing? You'd think Dick would have rubbed off on him and taught him what good taste looks like" but then I saw the later outfit, with the gold patterning and those sleeeevessssss ugh and I take it all back. A Fashion Icon TM. Truly stunning. A sight to behold. So proud, look at him go 😪

I think there's a lot of different opinions on Damian's characterization in this run, and I can definitely see where its coming from, but I disagree with the notion that Damian has been done dirty and reverted to a blood-thirsty, feral child.  And I have a LOT of opinions on the whole "feral" thing regarding Damian period (but that's for another time).

I don't think of Dami's rampage as a regression for his character. He's letting of emotions right then and I think its very similar to him venting. Its just not verbal, its physical and he knows he's not going to have to grapple with the consequences of his actions on the first kill. He knows he's technically not doing anything wrong.

He is clearly upset at Bruce and his failure to protect Alfred, and while Dami and Bruce are really often described as being very similar personality-wise, they are still distinctly different individuals who came to their current moral codes in vastly different ways. Bruce came to his "no killing" rule on his own; he made that decision for himself. It wasn't taught to him, it was a moment-of-truth kind of situation. Damian, on the other hand is in a vastly different situation.

Dami is, I think, at the beginning of the climb to his own moment-of-truth. He is in his rebellious phase like Dick, where he's gone off to spread his wings. It's not his conscious intention (at least that's not the vibe I got from reading the first two issues), but its directly underlying his "mission".

Damian is growing out of the expectations of his parents and into his own person. We all know he's been thrown from one moral code to another, both drastically different from each other. I don't think its a regression for him to lose his way a little, because realistically, he's going to have to in order to find it, specifically a moral compass that he forged on his own. He's just what? 14? Like hell a kid his age wants to listen to any form of authority. He's as stubborn as it comes. Damian needs to come to his decision regarding the path he takes in life on his own. It can't be made for him. He's seen and lived both sides of the coin, and I don't think he should be forced just yet to choose a side or pave a middle ground, but I do think that he should get the opportunity to see and experience all the gray areas on his own.

I think I'll transition from characterization to story here, because let's face it, this story is about Damian dealing with his confused emotions right now, in the wake of losing Alfred, a man that kind of acted like a grounding presence, a voice of reason, or a moral compass for him (and honestly Bruce and the rest of the bat crew if we're honest).

Story

So there's a lottttt going on in the story that is really enticing and exciting, and I'm really interested to see how it all plays out.

All the rules to the tournament are so, sketchy? Like they don't sound like they are meant to be sketchy, its basic safety and guidelines or whatever but with all the glowy green shit and the stakes of the tournament? Yeah, you can bet your ass its the "no fighting at night" and other shit is gonna be broken, and that's likely when the fun begins *insert evil laughter*😈

I was slightly put off by the whole "let me teach you to have fun" thing with Rose, because it's not like Dick, Steph, Jon, and like the Titans haven't done that with him too, but eh, not something I'm too concerned about. It's definitely just a segway to get us introduced to more characters that might become Damian's friends which will be interesting considering what Mother Soul said about fraternizing.

And that's another thing! I want Damian to make some friends! I know he already has some, but here's the thing: I think he's already been struggling with belonging, and he's definitely been feeling the disconnect between his life and other kids', whether they're supers/vigilantes or not. I think it'd be nice to see Dami have the experience of meeting people who he at first thinks are just like him!! and then realizing that maybe he doesn't really fit in here either, and that it's okay to feel like you don't belong, as isolating as it may feel at times. It just means you have a set of values. I want him to realize that its not always a bad thing, and you learn more about yourself and your own heart this way.

And from there,,, lets talk about the thing that stuck out to me the most in these two issues! GUILT!! It's mentioned SOO many times already, and I think its going to be a really fun, heartbreaking, and interesting aspect to explore about Damian. Is it guilt about his actions? Leaving behind family? Not being able to save Alfred? Not being a perfect example of Robin? He may call himself Robin but he doesn't sport the OG look or symbol like before. I love that his guilt takes on the form of Alfred though, or at least his conscious. I think it'd be really interesting to see this conscious disappear when Dami strays too far from his center, and when he finds it again, it reappears.

I really think that seeing Damian's actions in this run as a failure of character development is an unfair assessment, though. You can't do everything right in order to grow! You have to screw up, lose your way, experiment with life to find your fit, right?

Something tells me he doesn’t care for the tournament itself, but the end result, and the people behind it and more about WHY it was hidden from him. I mean he finds out the tournament TRULY begins once everyone has died once and tHEN he kill everyone? Felt to me less like a “killing spree” as everyone put it to a calculated decision to get the tournament going. He literally cuts Mother Soul off in the middle of her speaking to start fighting at the beginning

Anyway, just my thoughts lol. I do have some issues with the past two issues, and I might make a separate post about that, but honestly not enough for me to dislike Robin 2021 so far. I mean, besides the very obvious white-washing in the second issue, because DC can absolutely do better. And they should. It’s like they thought we wouldn’t notice???? But besides that, story and characterization-wise I’m looking forward to more. Here’s to hoping it stays that way, just with a better colorist!

My entry for batfam bingo prompt: Supernatural AU... not gonna lie, my first thought was a Stranger Things AU, but I didn’t know how to spin it! And so...batfam werewolves + one (1) fae child Damian! Here’s the initial description I dug up from an old email to Berba:

Oh! Hmmmm... I was thinking like... Territory battles with other magical creatures kinda like Gotham? Except forresty/town based... Bruce has his secret identity (he couldn't possibly we a werewolf, he's too classy and ditzy rich boy riiiight??) and I think he picks up the other kids from unfortunate accidents  and werewolf bites and such, tries to keep them... Not feral. I like the werewolves that still keep intelligence... Yeah, some animal instincts, but they still maintain their personalities unless they choose to lose themselves to it? Full moon is the hardest, they have not choice but to transform, but it's controllable if you're careful. 

Talia is like... A fae queen or something, tries to use Damian as a weapon at one point but it kinda goes as in Canon I feel... Damian gets found curled up with Richard wolf a lot lol. I imagine the other villains as different creatures as well, and Gotham in general is either indifferent or freaked out about it... Idk, it's messy, not very well thought out at all, just random images (Dami and Tim wolf wrestling, Tim wolf finding Bruce and keeping him from, well, becoming feral after Jay's death, Jay being a bedraggled lost pup pulling on Bruce's ear to distract him from food so he can steal it, Joker as a goblin? ... I can't decide what Cass would be. Cat woman as an actual were cat? Lol) 

I also doodled Tim as a fae on the run and Jason as a bounty hunter turned body-guard at one point, which...could be applicable? X’D Sorry my AU ideas are so scattered and have such little development...

1 I tried to forget Nightmare AU and avoid internet and focus on school and nothing worked and it's still RUINING me. Please forgive me. Can I just say Nightmare!Dami met Bruce when he was much younger and it was a mess. For like a decade Talia was helping Bruce keep sane since she had Ra's blood in her. But it took her longer than usual to arrange a rendezvous when she decided to take Damian with her. When they finally made it to Bruce, he was near the edge so he just swooped in and bit her.

2 Wee Damian was super alarmed and confused bc strange half-feral vamp biting Talia and she was making all these weird(???) noises. He bit Bruce's ear off in her defense. Bruce praised his instincts. It'll grow back anyway and that world is so messed up, child assassins are tame in comparison. And when bringing Dami back to manor with him, Bruce laid it on pretty thick that he would "trust" him with the care of his coven if anything happened to him and that Damian was the "only one he could

3 rely on" with them. That was during Dick's early Nightwing days where he and Bruce weren't seeing eye to eye so he only went to manor when his vampirism deteriorated enough that he had no other choice. He got particularly bad one time when Bruce was out of Gotham bc emergency when mad phantom nightmare!Superman stuff happened over in Metropolis. Damian(still young enough to be more human than vampire) was the first one Dick ran into in the manor. Later, Dick woke up frantic and horrified like

4 "where's the kid" and Alfred said Bruce found him collapsed in the hallway. Like "What kid?" and "Why would any vampire ever torment himself by bringing a fresh and defenseless human child into his house, Master Dick?" And Dick embarrassed but also salty bc Bruce could've at least sticked around to say hi. At least his bloodlust is better now. Tho when Alfred called, Bruce would've had a coronary if he still had a heartbeat and he vowed to never let Dick's cravings get that bad again,

5 bickering or not. Tho Damian's already better with accelarated healing and obviously expecting to be praised bc "There were no issues performing my duty, father." and Bruce is like WTF Damian you almost died. Damian IS his only choice to save Batfam from themselves if the worst case scenario happened. But he's also horrified by the disregard for his own wellbeing that he somehow instilled in his youngest(tho it's mostly LoA education that everyone but Ra's is disposable) He makes Damian swear

6 to not let anyone have his blood until he's at least a teenager and forbids him from meeting rest of Batfam while he's still HUMAN enough to be really tempting to them. He already proved he was capable of filling in for Bruce with Dick after all. Since he's also related to Ra's, Damian also offers to fill in for his mom when she can't meet Bruce for long intervals but Bruce is abso-FUCKING-lutely NOT about it. Damian also makes a sport of casually stealth walking right behind batkids while

7 looking Bruce and/or Alfred right in the eye and they can't decide whether to laugh or despair about it. Only Tim notices the signs of someone else living in the manor and using the cave. Since Tim wasn't turned directly by Bruce, he wouldn't crave Damian's blood as much. So Bruce decides it's easier to just let him in on the secret instead of trying to avoid Tim's bloodhound detective-ing. And this is how Damian ends up with the best Batfam stories and blackmail material before even meeting

8 most of them. This is also a secret Tim took to not-grave with him since Damian was only 11 when Bruce died and no way old or vampirised enough to survive supporting an entire coven. In hindsight tho, Tim may not have been the best person to let Damian interact with to improve his self preservation instinct. He goes back to Gotham the day he turns 13 and seeks out Stephanie, since Tim had made her sound the most approachable. And then there's a good-aligned, Trigon-infected nightmare!Kori???

does Dick every find out he attacked Damian as a kid/at all? Does he ever feel guilty about it, or the rest of the family get kind of mad at him for it? 

Also clearly Nightmare Damian has a deathwish, doing this crap. And I’m good with Kory just remaining her Tamaranean self, no need to make her a monster too. Though she could stay furious warrior princess though, I’d be hella with that.
