Biden is about to learn the hard way what giving undying support to Israel means when he loses next year. He is alienating a lot of young voters because of this, and young voters make a huge base for democrats. 80% of dems are in favor of ceasefire that is a huge majority of the dem voters. I know I wont be voting for him or anyone else that supports this genocide, can't do it, would feel more guilty than already I do. The dems are really showing their racism and Islamophobia. The way this party is handling this situation shows me that majority of them don't really care Black lives, racism, immigration at home they just know they need these groups to win so they fake their support. If they actually truly cared their foreign policy wouldn't be built on racism and xenophobia. The fact their lumping innocent Palestinians with a Hamas, the fact they're okay with violating every human rights and international law tells me everything I need to know about their true intentions than I could ever know through their campaign promises and slogans. I don't think they truly understand how much younger generations hate wars, hate racism, and aren't easily manipulated through propaganda, like we see everything in real time we don't have to rely on biased news organizations. We can hear from the victims directly.
So who will you be voting for??
Will you be voting for the republican candidate????
Sometimes I look at y'all (Americans) and think
.....
How fucking STUPID can you be????
I see so many people saying they will ABSTAIN from voting bc they dont have a good candidate.
YALL HAVE NEVER HAD A GOOD CANDIDATE IN THE PAST ALMOST 10 YEARS. The last good one you guys had was Obama.
So what????
You're going to vote for the republican choice instead?????
AND MAKE ABORTION AND GAY MARRIAGE AND WOMENS RIGHTS ELIGIBLE FOR ACTUAL WITHDRAWAL????
YOU'RE GOING TO VOTE SOMEONE IN WHO IS MORE THAN WILLING TO UNDO THE LAWS THAT PROTECT THE MOST VULNERABLE OF PEOPLE???
Joe Biden is supporting Israel because THE UNITED STATES SUPPORTS ISRAEL.
THAT WONT GO AWAY JUST BECAUSE YOU VOTE FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
YOU ARE ALLIES. THE UNITED STATES AND ISRAEL HAVE BEEN ALLIES SINCE DAY ONE.
IN FACT, MOST OF THE WESTERN WORLD SUPPORT ISRAEL. PRIMARILY BECAUSE OF WORLD WAR 2.
I thoroughly hope you understand just how majorly what you're saying and deciding when voting time comes, will affect your country. And subsequently, the rest of the world.
SO MANY OF US ARE DEPENDENT ON YOU. DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT WHO YOU CHOOSE TO LEAD YOU LITERALLY AFFECTS THE REST OF THE ENTIRE FUCKING WESTERN WORLD???
DO NOT.
PLEASE, I BEG YOU.
DO NOT VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN BECAUSE YOU DISAGREE WITH "BIDEN" ON HOW HE HAS HANDLED THE ISRAEL-PALESTINE ISSUE.
IT WILL NOT CHANGE JUST BECAUSE YOU VOTE FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
BECAUSE THE US ARE ISRAELS BIGGEST SUPPORTERS. THEY ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHO IS CURRENTLY PRESIDENT. IT HAS TO DO WITH INTERNATIONAL POLITICS AND ALLYSHIP.
PLEASE.
I CANNOT HANDLE ANOTHER TRUMP.
THE REST OF THE WORLD CANNOT HANDLE ANOTHER TRUMP.
AND IF IT'S NOT GOING TO BE TRUMP, IT'S JUST GOING TO BE SOMEONE EVEN WORSE.
USE YOUR VOICE. VOTE DEMOCRAT.
FOR THE SAKE OF THE ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD.
YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY AS SOMEONE WHO CAN AFFECT A SUPERPOWER OF THE WORLD.
PLEASE. THE REST OF THE WORLD BEGS YOU.
VOTE DEMOCRATIC OR LIBERALISTIC. PLEASE.
THE WORLD LITERALLY DEPENDS ON YOU.

From NPR this morning:
President Biden called for term limits and an enforceable ethics code for Supreme Court justices yesterday. The White House said that the proposal would appoint a justice every two years to spend 18 years in active service to the Supreme Court. He also called on Congress to pass binding, enforceable conduct and ethics rules that require high court justices to disclose gifts, refrain from public political activity and remove themselves from cases if they or their spouses have financial or other conflicts of interest. The president also called for a constitutional amendment that would limit the broad immunity presidents now enjoy due to a recent Supreme Court decision.
...Yes please.

While writing that Dragon Age 2 post the other day, I made a narrative connection I had never made before.
I was writing about the Templar route, and about how the game makes no bones about how the Templar route is the evil route, it's clearly narratively marked as such. Because the structure of the game sets itself up from the start to make Hawke have some sympathy for the mages: they are the child of a mage and the sibling of a mage. This is an issue that Hawke cannot exempt themselves from having opinions on.
But that said, yes, you can choose the Templar route. You can decide that the tragedy of your family being ripped apart by the mage plight has hardened Hawke's heart against them. You can join forces with the Order that has hunted your family members their whole lives. You can choose to tighten the iron fist, instead of choosing to break it. You can become the ruler of Kirkwall. You can kill your sister.
And then I realized: That's Meredith's story.
Meredith, whose sister was a mage, the sister who died from it and ripped her family apart in the process. Meredith, who hardened her heart against people like her sister and dedicated the rest of her life to punishing others like her. Meredith, who joined causes with the Templar order who made that happen. Meredith, who took over the city.
You can choose to become Meredith. The game lets you do that. But you have to know -- as you climb over her corpse to ascend her bloodied throne -- that it's not a 'good' choice.

It really is so fun that Essek started mentioning "my partner" like every three lines because he probably doesn't actually get the chance to talk about it that often.
I think there can often be an impulse when you really care about someone to want to shout from the rooftops all the great things you feel and notice about them, and Essek isn't really in a position to do that. The people who he can talk freely to already know him and Caleb, and the people who don't know them likely aren't safe to tell real personal details to. It's one thing to fabricate a parental relationship knowing that there isn't someone to trace that to, but it's an entirely different thing to tell someone honestly about the people you love when any small detail might put them in danger if it fell into the wrong hands.
The Hells are safe to say that kind of thing to—perhaps mostly on a meta level, in that the DM is aware that they are the protagonists—and they also characteristically tend to offer a listening ear to anyone they meet, and I think it's delightful that Essek actually recognized and responded to that.

i think sometimes when ppl talk about caboose infantilization (or really any problematic depictions of characters in fandom works) they get bogged down by the details of what is and isn’t “allowed” instead of tackling the actual issue with the infantilized depictions.
someone will say “caboose is a grown man he drinks alcohol saying otherwise is infantilizing him” and someone will reply “um actually i have a very good reason for him not drinking and how dare you say not drinking is childish” and the conversation turns into an argument about whether or not caboose drinks when like. the point isn’t about whether or not he drinks alcohol, it’s about whether or not you’re treating him like he’s an adult who can make his own decisions about alcohol consumption.
what do you think the reason is that giving him a juicebox in fanart where everyone else is drinking is such a trend? that depicting him with stickers and crayons is? that writing him as asexual— not only asexual, but as a grown man completely unaware of what sex is— is? there is a reason that these trends exist, and the point isn’t to litigate whether or not any individual instance of these things really counts as infantilization. it’s to notice that these patterns exist, to understand why caboose is often treated as childish, to interrogate how you’re depicting him in your own work so that even if you do decide to have him be sober or abstinent or anything along those lines you are doing so with respect and without infantilizing him

ABC News in Australia covers the story of how community groups all over the country are coming together as a community to provide for returning Gazan families.
El Rahman Inc. stands at the forefront of this community effort in Naarm/Melbourne, and on the organisation’s Instagram page, regularly posts updates on what supplies are currently needed. It accepts monetary and supply donations at drop off points (which are currently closed until the 28th Dec).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The PCIA has also been instrumental in organising resources for returning Palestinian families. For more widespread support not limited to Melbourne, please consider donating to the Arab Council of Australia, another independent non-profit which has a long history of supporting their community. They are based in New South Wales, which is home to Australia's largest population of Arabic-speaking Australians.
--
ABC's news report also highlights that between October 7 and November 20, Home Affairs granted 860 visas to Palestinians, including those seeking to depart Gaza. However, what they fail to give proper attention to is the fact that Israel has been preventing Palestinians from leaving.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ link ]
Of the around 860 visas distributed, only 143 Palestinians have managed to successfully arrive in Australia, with the number of new names being added to 'the list' falling to a pathetic degree. To understand the grave conditions of Palestinians awaiting safe passage, this is a great article to read. And although politicians like Penny Wong insist they are doing everything in their power to help Palestine in this time, Australia still shamefully stands by its strongest ally, the US, and actively provides military surveillance of the Gaza Strip to Israeli sources through Pine Gap, a military base in Alice Springs.
In this time, it is imperative to maintain pressure on the Australian government. Protest and vocal pro-Palestine movement is the only thing that caused Australia to eventually vote for a ceasefire in the recent UN resolution, after their cowardly performance earlier. Resources like vic_socialists on Instagram, regardless of where you may stand on their performance as a party itself, has been outstanding in organising regular protest movements across all of Victoria. APAN also maintains a list of pro-Palestine events all around Australia on their website, although I'm not sure at this point if it's exhaustive.

Most Beloved AEW Wrestler Tournament 2: Week 4/Month 1 Statistics Dump
28 Days complete, 127 to go
Total votes thus far: 216,012 (average of 99 votes per bracket, down from 104 last week)
The Ties
While yes, Dax Harwood and Angelico tied and that was fun and cool, it was nowhere near as fun and cool (and awe-inspiring) as that time voters of this tournament somehow coordinated over 24 hours to create a perfect Balance Of Bucks

The Crushing Defeats

The Top 20
Below are the stats for the top 20 frontrunners for days 22-28
Tumblr media
The Undefeated
While our unvictorious have halved from 6 to 3, our undefeated have remained the same 5 from last week. I'm not one to assume results of brackets before (I've definitely been surprised a time or two), but I'd have to guess that the only way they'll be defeated is by going up against each other, so here are the dates of those matchups

The Midcard
Because I thought it was hilarious that all three Gunns are in this situation, here are the wrestlers who have the same number of bracket wins and losses; the perfect midcard

"MY life has gotten marginally better or been unaffected under the current administration, so give the Democrats YOUR vote"
that's what y'all sound like. fuckin entitled. or do none of y'all actually believe in one person, one vote lol
just say that other people's problems, well-being, stability, and dignity is secondary to your fucking comfort under the status quo.
if things are "better under Biden" for you to such an extent that you feel entitled to other people's fucking votes, I got news for ya — you were probably fine under Trump too 🙃

It's really disheartening that Rick Riordan stance on the war I understand that he wants to be neutral on this stance but in my opinion by becoming neutral he only worsening the issue as many Palestines are dying that are mostly children, how the majority of Israeli are supporting the Genocide of Palestine, and how the government is trying so hard (but miserably failing) to justified the genocide. I will hold him accountable for what he said on this issue as during this period the choice is basically "you are with us or against us."
Part of me wishes he will realize what he said was wrong and understand the bigger issue that plays at hand. I will criticism for his actions as how can a man who promotes LGBTQIA and representation of minorities and disabilities in his books turn a blind eyes to Genocide of people. However we can only wait and see on his next move.
One last thing about your previous you said you don't group Riordan with other authors where do you would group him with? Also this is more on an opinion base answer but many people are boycotting companies that support Israel there as been another post on Twitter on boycotting authors. Rick Riordan happens to be one of them. Do you believed that he should be boycotted with other authors or he should be properly educated and apologized for his previous statement? If you believed he should be boycotted what do tou have to say to those who might have the mentality of "separate the art from the artist"
thank you for this ask, and i completely agree with you! it is extremely hypocritical of him considering what he preaches for in his books. i think he’s convinced he has properly addressed the apartheid by using very vague language that can be applied to anything, and in doing so, he’s addressed nothing really.
your first question on who i would group him with— probably other authors who are doing the exact same as him in their virtue signalling. i always like to link my other blogs to each other, so i don’t think it’s a secret that i have a red queen account and i’m pretty passionate about that. unfortunately, victoria aveyard is another fantasy author who has literally wrote a whole four-book series on the uprising against oppression but is now playing neutral in her address of the apartheid. rebecca yarros is in the same boat, although i haven’t read ‘fourth wing,’ fans have said there are large themes of oppression within the book. so if i had to group riordan it would probably be in the ‘i-like-to-write-about-it-for-profit-and-praise-only’ group.
in terms of boycotting, i think that’s a great idea! i would also like to remind everyone that the percy jackson tv show is coming out in a little over a month, but disney is a huge industry financially supporting israel as well ($2 million in funding), which is obviously far more damning than a poorly written address by one person. there is a boycott happening for disney as well— and the pjo show will be released on disney + . i implore everyone to not watch it on that platform!! personally i will be pirating it online (idk if i’ll get into trouble saying that here but lol oh well), because im pretty sure the boycott is only for withdrawing financial support, not simply consuming media.
i feel like separating art from the artist only works if that artist is… like, dead, and you’re using that art and its values as a historical insight to how the world was during its time. you can still like a piece of work that has a problematic artist, you can engage with the work (to an extent). but separating art from the artist barely works because either:
to engage with the art is to support the artist in some way, so that artist is making money based on your interaction with that (particularly in the case for singers and streaming of songs)
that artists’ views and values are so rancid that it’s literally embedded within the text itself. to ignore it is harmful.
harry potter is my all-time favourite example to use, because jkr is the scum of the earth, and her views are entrenched in her work. a lesser known example is sarah j maas and her books (she’s also not as dogshit as jkr, but then again, its not hard to be a better person than her). i’m not going to bag on these people for liking things by problematic people (would be hypocritical of me), i just think it’s cowardly not to address it when you come across it, or at least admit to it. to simply write things off as ‘separate to the artist’ is like purposefully turning off your critical thinking skills.
on whether boycotting or an apology is enough— if riordan did apologise and used specific language and not the nonsense he had in that blog, expressed his remorse for his ignorance and then actually did or said something to support the people of palestine then, yeah. that’s fine and that’s how we learn ig. but he should educate himself, too many activists, people from the arab community and especially palestinians are expected to be all-knowing and to educate everyone else on an already draining and personal tragedy. it’s been exhausting for me, i can’t imagine what they’re going through. if riordan (or anyone) needs to be educated, he should do it himself, and (at least in my opinion) i don’t think the info is very hard to find now. it’s just about weeding out the misinformation.
i think boycotting is a good idea as of now. it can serve to be a catalyst for self reflection for many people. also, as much as i hate most online discourses, talking about it online needs to happen. i don’t want these authors to forget, for a moment, about the ignorance they posted online during a time of international crisis.

ppl who aren't voting because they think both trump and harris are morally wrong in their policies really fundamentally don't understand the reality of the electoral system huh. They still think they're electing the homecoming queen or something huh.
having the right to vote, and not voting, because you think both candidates are fascists is in fact what the fascists want you to do. i hate to break it to you buster but our democracy is at best a capitalist oligarchy and the power we have over the current system is limited, but voting is one of the most concrete expressions of power we have within that system. it's also one of the first things to go if we become a fascist state for real. People have fought and died over generations for the right to vote. Don't you dare fucking piss it away.

If genocide joe loses the 2024 election don't cry about the people who understandably will not vote. I dont want trump but it'll be his own fault if he loses. If you still believe in the 2 party system you need to grow up
If you still believe that your own righteous fury is worth more than people's lives, then you also need to grow up. If a compromise will save lives, I'll compromise. I won't let people die holding out for a perfect solution that will never come.
