Even though there is a Saizeriya (サイゼリヤ) at Sun Plaza nearer to my place, we have only visited it once or twice. The reason is because of the free shuttle bus service to Sembawang Shopping Centre that picks and drops us from the very same bus stop in front of our block. Being a fussy eater, mum always goes for the Black Pepper Chicken Spaghetti (S$5.90) since she doesn’t fancy the other dishes.
First time trying out the Curry Chicken Baked Rice (S$6.50). I am surprised they served this on a hotplate and not in a baking dish. While the cheesy rice is decent with just enough curry flavours to whet the appetite, the chicken tenders were on the drier side.

Thai Red Curry Chicken Bake It couldn't be easier to prepare this baked chicken curry dish: just mix up the sauce, chop an onion, and then sit back and unwind as it bakes.

What things smell like according to Logan Howlett/ The Wolverine. A series of smell based headcanons. Do with these whatever you want :)
People:
Ororo: burnt marshmellows, rain, chunky chocolate chip cookies, protien shakes, spansih rice, chillies, and cocoa butter. She always smells great.

Jean: caramel latte, lavender sheets, vanilla spiced chai, books, mint ice cream, fruit smoothies, stinky hair product, lemon poppy seed muffins, sassafras
Hank: Books, sanatizer, various chemicals, a very specifc fur dander, kinda musky but in a 'im covered in fur and sweaty' kind of way.
Rouge: "Dolly Parton", brick and concrete dust, cherry blossoms body spray, freshly engraved wood, strawberries and milk conditioner, spicy gaucamole and freshly sizzled sausages.
Gambit: tv static, a fresh deck of cards at the casino, spicy jumbo, gin, lime jello, hair gel, "suprisingly good actually"
Kurt: brimstone, smoke from franckinsense, myrrh, a less smelling dander then hank, Holy chrism oil (olive oil and Balsam made by catholic priests), metal, and blue raspberry. Fur/ beard pomade sometimes for special ocassions.
Morph: even when changed he can smell is sandlewood shampoo, he smells like how "Jack Outta smell", latex, pine and cedar, clear nail polish, "that ugly quilt that your grandma kept on the back of her couch that was the warmest, softest thing you've ever slept with."

Big/serious lies: smell like Gasoline and salty sand near the sea.
Small fibs/playful/ teasing lies: smell like Anise
Lies with decent intentions/are bent truths: smell like honey
Those two are easily mixed up.
Innocent (the person truly believes it. Ex. A child saying dinos are real) truth: smells like thick vanilla creamer.
Filling, whole truths (the person knows for a fact its a truth) smells: like fresh baked rolls/buns
Cancer smells vary like: urine, nail polish remover, some people have a pungent semi sweet smell like rotting fruit, and tar is another smell, depending on which part of the body. If already in late stages, one can smell like cadavers. Even spicy almost.
Pregnant people vary in scent but he can smell the rise of different hormones: Some hormones sweeter then other. If you asked him he would say cinnamon or dying roses. If you're later in your term the scents are more soft like lotion or custard. Lemon ussually.
Serotonin; cheese, lemon cakes, fruity, a bit light, and flakey like a pastry. Marshmellow fluff.
Dopamine; sweet fresh coffee, doritos(?), cocaine. Don't ask why he knows what cocaine smells like. He was alive during coke cocaine.

Writing Notes: Herbs, Spices & Seasoning
Herbs and spices can add flavor and variety to your food.
Use a little at first, then add more when you are sure you like the flavor.
To substitute dry herbs for fresh, use ¼ teaspoon powder or 1 teaspoon crushed for 1 tablespoon fresh chopped herbs. Some herbs and spices are expensive.
You might want to buy only a few of the less expensive herbs and spices you will use.
Herbs and spices lose flavor and can spoil or get buggy if kept in the cupboard longer than a year.
If you use herbs and spices slowly, buy small containers, or store them in the freezer.
Uses of Herbs, Spices & Seasonings
Allspice - A mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Use in fruit desserts, pumpkin pie, apple cider, cakes, cookies, chicken, beef and fish dishes.
Basil - Tomato and egg dishes, stews, soups and salads
Bay leaves - Tomato dishes, fish and meat dishes
Celery seed - Juices, soups, salads, vegetables, pot roasts, poultry, rolls and biscuits
Chili powder - Chili, bean and rice dishes
Chives - Potato dishes, soups, dips and sauces
Cilantro - Latin American, Indian and Chinese dishes, salsa, stir fries, (Coriander leaves) legume or rice salads, hot cooked rice, grilled chicken or fish, or a dish of ripe tomatoes. Use fresh if possible.
Cinnamon - French toast, fruit and fruit salads, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and squash, puddings and apple desserts, ham or pork chops
Cloves - Whole cloves on ham or pork roast; ground cloves to season pear or apple desserts, beets, beans, tomatoes, squash and sweet potatoes
Coriander seed - Middle Eastern dishes, spice cakes and cookies, soups, roast pork and salad dressing
Cumin - Mexican, Middle Eastern and Indian dishes; beef and lamb, dry bean dishes, marinades, chili and tomato sauces; ingredient in curry powder
Dillweed - Tuna or salmon salad, potato salad, pickles, dips and sauces
Garlic - Mexican, Italian and Oriental dishes and in salad dressings; can be used fresh or dried, minced or powder
Ginger (fresh) - Oriental dishes, marinades for chicken or fish, fruit salad, dressings
Ginger (ground) - Gingerbread, spice cake, pumpkin pie, poultry or meat, soups, stews, stuffing, squash, sweet potatoes
Ground peppers: black, Cayenne & white pepper - Meats, casseroles, vegetables and soups
Italian seasoning - A mixture of marjoram, oregano, basil and rosemary; use in Italian dishes such as spaghetti
Marjoram - Egg and cheese dishes, meats, fish, poultry and vegetables
Mint - Fruit salads and fruit soups, melon, berries, cold fruit beverages, cooked carrots or peas, chilled yogurt soup, lamb, tabbouleh
Mustard - Sauces for meat and fish, in marinades, salad dressings, chutneys, pickles and relishes
Nutmeg - Cooked fruits, pies and desserts, baked items, spinach, sweet potatoes, eggnog and French toast
Onion - Any dish where onion flavor is desired; can be used fresh or dried (minced or powder)
Oregano - Italian dishes, chili, omelets, beef stew, meat loaf, pork and vegetables such as broccoli or tomatoes
Parsley - Meat, soup or vegetable dishes; adds color
Paprika - Stew, chicken, fish, potatoes, rice and hard-cooked eggs
Rosemary - Egg dishes, meats, fish, soups and stews, and vegetables
Thyme - Fish, poultry or meats, in soups or stews, vegetable salads

MY RECIPES:
SWEET POTATO PIE
MAKES: 1 x 8-9” pie
INGREDIENTS
1 ½ lbs sweet potatoes (2-3 potatoes) (3 cups flesh), whole, to be roasted
1 x 12 oz can evaporated milk
1 cup (200g) dark brown sugar
2 eggs
5 Tbsp (70g) butter, melted
1 Tbsp lemon zest (zest of 1 lemon)
1 tsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp cinnamon
½ tsp kosher salt
½ tsp ginger
¼ tsp nutmeg
a few cracks (⅛ tsp) freshly ground black pepper
+
1 disc (½ recipe) All-Butter Pie Crust*
*I’ve posted my pie crust recipe on tumblr before tagged “recipes”
DIRECTIONS
1. Roast sweet potatoes: Preheat oven to 400°. Line a baking sheet with foil. Wash and scrub whole sweet potatoes. Pierce potatoes all over 3-5x with paring knife. Roast 45 minutes until fork tender. Let cool, then collect 3 cups flesh.
2. Prepare crust: Roll out pie dough (12-14” diameter circle, ¼” thick). Press into tin and crimp edges. Chill shaped shell in fridge or freezer until ready to use.
3. Preheat oven to 350°.
4. Make filling: Put all ingredients in food processor. Pulse 3-4x until smooth. (You can also use a blender, or simply beat ingredients until fully combined.)
5. Pour filling into pie shell.
6. Bake 45-60 minutes until puffed and firmly set (toothpick clean) everywhere except the very center, which should retain a very slight jiggle (but not look liquid). The center will set as it cools. Start checking at 45 minutes and continue baking at 5 minute intervals until set. (If crust gets too brown, shield edges with foil.)
7. Let cool completely before serving, at least 1 hour.
NOTES
Roast the potatoes whole, in the skins, so the sugars & starches properly caramelize. Do not steam or boil potatoes, even whole. They will take on water and make the filling soggy.
You can roast the potatoes up to 1 week in advance. Collect flesh day of.
PECAN PIE
MAKES: 1 x 8-9” pie
INGREDIENTS
2 cups (250g) chopped pecans
1 cup (200g) dark brown sugar
1 cup light or dark corn syrup
¼ cup (56g) butter
4 eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp cinnamon
+
1 disc (½ recipe) All-Butter Pie Crust
DIRECTIONS
1. Prepare shell: Roll out pie dough (12-14” diameter circle, ¼” thick), press into tin, crimp edges. Chill shaped shell in fridge or freezer until ready to use.
2. Preheat oven to 350°.
3. Cook sugar syrup: In a saucepan, bring sugar, corn syrup, and butter to boil over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, whisking constantly, to cook sugar. Take off heat. Let cool slightly, 3 minutes.
4. Temper eggs: In a bowl, beat eggs until lightened and frothy. Slowly, while whisking, pour ½ cup of warm syrup into eggs. Whisk to combine. Then, while whisking, slowly pour egg mixture back into the remaining syrup mixture. Whisk until smooth.
5. Whisk in vanilla, salt, and cinnamon.
6. Pour chopped pecans into bottom of pie shell. Pour filling over pecans.
7. Bake 45-60 minutes until fully set everywhere except the very center, which should retain a very slight jiggle. The center will set as it cools. Start checking at 45 minutes and continue baking at 5 minute intervals until set.
8. Let cool completely before serving, at least 1 hour.
NOTES
Many recipes do not require you to cook the sugar before baking the pie. However, pre-cooking the sugar (and tempering the eggs) ensures the ideal gooey, silky, perfectly smooth texture.
Toast pecans if desired: Arrange pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet and toast in preheated oven 5-8 minutes.
#recipes#food#feyburner ask#always happy for recipe recs btw!! someone recced me a garam masala tart the other day that i forgot to put on here#but it’s on the list

been a while but here's what i'm cooking this week, extra special and laborious since it's my gf's bday this week:
a very easy red curry w rice noodles + chicken + coconut milk
another very easy pasta dish, maybe w bacon, but mostly just with parm and butter
big container of homemade garlic dill pickle chips
frying some of those pickles w creamy herby homemade ranch
MAYBE i'll make a batch of brown butter miso chocolate chip cookies to keep around for a snack if im feeling crazy
big fluffy buttermiilk pancakes w a side of thick cut bacon and a generous drizzle of maple syrup
cold crisp cucumber salad w snap peas and lemon and red wine vinegar and herbs and maybe feta
fried chicken sandwiches w the homemade pickles, mayo, + brioche buns. the meat either dry brined w spices, salt, sugar, + msg uncovered on a rack in the fridge or brined in whatever pickle juice i have leftover
a fudgy, decadent 4 layered mud cake with dark chocolate ganache and fudge frosting. i splurged for fancy baking chocolate and dutch process cocoa to make it extra special + itll be topped w birthday candles, same as last year :))

If you have a chronic pain condition, get a rice cooker. They're decently cheap, you can often thrift them, and they make so many meals.
My go to is "garbage rice" - toss in rice, a frozen veggie mix (usually peas, corn, and carrot), add spices (usually curry spices) and water then cook. After about 10 minutes of cooking crack and egg or two in and cover until done. Add some tamari sauce or similar and top with a slice of cheese.
Takes me less than 5 minutes of standing time.
I've skipped the egg in favor of canned chicken then added jarred sauces (usually curries) and that's excellent too.
By using all frozen or shelf stable foods, I don't have to meal plan. I just stock a set list of ingredients and mix and match. I can just throw something together when I'm hungry.
If you have more energy, I've baked cookies in mine, made Mac n cheese, and made hot pot like soups (I fell in love with mine in my dorm room).
I know people sing the praises of the slow cooker and instant pot but I think nothing beats the simplicity and ease of cleaning of a rice cooker. Just feels more manageable.

the taste of love is not just extravagant five course feasts and medium rare wagyu beef.
The taste of love is taking out the tomatoes from my omelets because I hate tomatoes.
The taste of love is cracking open walnuts and picking away the shell gently, nuts rattling in a bowl.
The taste of love is al dente pasta, not too hard, not too soft, just right.
The taste of love is perfect ratios of spices, my favorite flavors, rubbed onto tenderloin steak.
The taste of love is fresh, ripe and tart blueberries on greek yogurt, on warm, busy Monday mornings.
The taste of love is warm, soothing peppermint tea on chilly, calm Friday evenings.
The taste of love is being spoon fed warm rice with chicken curry, a gentle handkerchief brushing away the tears on my cheeks.
The taste of love is strawberry preserves poured into popsicle molds, crafted for sore throats.
the taste of love is hand tossed, heart shaped pizzas with olives as the eyes and a mushroom slice as the nose and a sliver of bell pepper as the smile.
The taste of love is chiffon cake baked from scratch, iced with the words “I love you”, crumbs melting on your tongue, the taste of triumph, the taste of support and congratulations.
The taste of love is the chef's finest ingredient.
Attention and care.

18 Plant-Based Protein Sources
Protein is often raised as a concern for people considering adopting a plant-based diet, and because we’ve all been taught to associate protein primarily with red meat, this is not surprising.
It is estimated that most adults require a minimum of 56 grams of protein per day; you’re probably hitting that number now if you’re not in a calorie deficit. If you’re trying to lose weight and so are cutting calories then you may need to track your protein a little more closely, but 56 grams is very easy to hit without having to think about it.
It gets a bit more difficult if you’re very physically active, particularly if you’re engaged in regular endurance or strength training. There is a great deal of disagreement about precisely how much protein is ideal if you’re trying to build muscle, but 1g of protein per 1lb of bodyweight is very doable, which is the amount often recommended in bodybuilding circles. It is very achievable to hit even the upper end of protein requirement estimates using only plant-based foods, as demonstrated by the success of many vegan athletes. Listed below are particularly good options.
1) Lentils - Lentils are a cheap nutritional powerhouse, and provide about 17 grams of protein per cup. They’re also very flexible, you can have them as your main protein source of a meal, use them to substitute mince in a pasta dish, make burgers out of them, or put them in a stir fry or with rice and veg with some seasonings. They are cheap and convenient if you buy them canned, since they’re ready to eat, though I would recommend at least warming them up.
2) Chickpeas - Chickpeas are a popular vegan staple, and it’s not hard to see why. At approximately 14.5 grams of protein per cup, they’re nutrient-dense and very flexible. Use them to make hummus or falafel, as the main protein source of a curry, on their own with rice or worked into a salad. You can also just air fry/grill them with some oil and spices for a convenient, crunchy snack.
3) Oats - A cup of dry oats is around 11 grams of protein by itself. Making it with a cup of oat milk brings that up to 14 grams, throw in a tablespoon of peanut butter and you’re up to about 17.5 grams at breakfast, and all those ingredients are pretty cheap and very filling. You could add something like nuts or chia seeds as a topping to stretch that to well over 20 grams.
4) Nuts - Peanuts are 9.5 grams per ¼ cup, almonds are 7g, pistachios 6g, cashews 5g, hazelnuts 5g, brazil nuts 4.75g, walnuts 4.5g and pine nuts are 4.5g. You can buy 1kg bags of mixed nuts for a little bit cheaper and keep them in a jar for a healthy snack. I find it better to make your own mix, or buy a mixed bag that doesn’t have peanuts in then add the peanuts later, as mixes that include peanuts tend to work out as less for your money. Peanut butter is also a cost-effective way to add protein to many snacks and meals.
5) Beans - Depending on the type, beans are anything from around 10-15 grams of protein per cup. Some are better than others, like kidney beans, but even your standard baked beans are high in protein and very good for you. Turn them into a chilli, have them on toast, on a jacket potato, turn them into a bean burger or make them the protein base of a salad or soup. Kidney, soy, and edamame beans are particularly good options.
6) Seitan - When cooked, seitan closely resembles to look and feel of meat. It is made of wheat gluten and has 25 grams of protein per 100 gram serving. It is not very widely available in supermarkets, but try your local Asian market, where it will usually be cheaper as well. It’s a bit of a hassle, but you can also make your own at home, which is extremely cheap as it’s just wheat gluten, yeast, plant milk, miso, and spices.
7) Tofu/Tempeh - A staple in Asian cooking, don’t be afraid to try this one. Think of it as doing all the same things chicken does in terms of recipes, it soaks up the flavour around it. It needs to be pressed before use, or you can avoid that by just freezing it, then thawing overnight when you want to use it. 100 grams of tofu (less than half a small block) contains about 12g grams of protein, depending on the type. Some tofu, like Naked TooFoo, is pre-pressed for you.
8) Soy Chunks - Soy chunks come in a pretty unappetizing form that looks a bit like dried dog food. Just soak them in lightly salted hot water or vegetable stock for 15 minutes and they'll come to life, behaving like faux chicken pieces. You can then just cook, fry or bake them as you would with any soy product or tofu. They're much like tofu in that they'll soak up whatever sauce you cook them in. They're extremely cheap, have an amazing shelf life, and are a whopping 50g of protein per 100g. This is what I use to make the equivalent of that 'chicken, broccoli, and rice' meal high-protein meal that bodybuilders love so much.
9) Faux Meats - Faux meats are an easy way to add a protein base to your meal, and have the advantage of serving the same function on a plate as the foods you were used to before you went vegan. A Beyond burger, for example, has 19g of protien per patty, though you can get much cheaper options that have a similar nutritional profile. Pair that with a wholemeal bun and something like brown rice/quinoa and vegetables and you can create a very high-protein meal.
10) Grains - All grains are good for protein, these include quinoa, spelt, brown/wild rice, teff, amaranth, and sorghum. They can range anywhere between 5 and 8 grams per 100 grams, and you’ll usually be serving them with some sort of protein source. They’re also an excellent source of fibre and carbohydrates, which are also important for training and general health. Quinoa in particular provides all 22 essential amino acids.
11) Peas - Green peas are not mentioned much when it comes to high protein options, but a cup of cooked peas is a respectable 9 grams of protein, and it’s worth mentioning here because they tend to be used more as a side than main, so can be paired with other high protein options. They’re also very cheap, freeze well, and are easy to prepare.
12) Seeds - Just a tablespoon of chia seeds is nearly 3 grams of protein, and the seeds are so small and tasteless that you don’t actually notice them in anything you put them in, making them an easy way to add protein to just about any meal. They’re pretty cheap to buy in large quantities, particularly good to replace eggs in baking, to add to bread flour, salads and oatmeal. Other high-protein seeds include pumpkin, sunflower, linseed, hempseeds, and buckwheat.
13) Bread - Bread may not immediately come to mind when you’re thinking about protein, but wholegrain/rye/spelt breads can be very high in protein, anywhere from 3g all the way up to around 10g per slice, particularly for seeded loaves. If you really want to turn bread into a high protein food, invest in a bread maker or bake it yourself, that way you can add nuts, seeds and oats yourself to up the nutritional value. That’s just the bread too, a hummus and falafel sandwich with a high protein bread can be very nutritionally dense.
14) Fruit and veg - Worth mentioning here, as they’re something you’ll need to consume to maintain a healthy diet anyway, and some options have moderate protein. The higher protein options include broccoli, spinach, asparagus, artichokes, potatoes, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts, which all contain 4–5 grams of protein per cooked cup. Likewise, blueberries, guava, bananas and nectarines contain about 2-4 grams of protein per cup, as well as many other essential vitamins.
15) Nutritional Yeast - No vegan list is complete without mentioning it, it’s a vegan staple for its nutty, cheesy flavour, as well as being an easy source of vitamin B12. It’s a complete protein that has 8 grams of protein per 16 grams serving, making it an easy way to add more protein to things like pizza, pasta dishes, or a jacket potato. Use it to make cheesy sauces, or just sprinkle it on anything you’d have previousy added parmesan cheese to.
16) Protein Bars - They tend to be on the expensive side, but there are a few plant-based options. I’d recommend Misfit bars if you can get them online, they’re low sugar, 15g of protein per bar, and you can buy them in variety packs of 40 which works out cheaper. Trek also has protein flapjack bars, they're less protein (8-9g) but are much cheaper in packs of 3 and frequently available at a discount. Check your local health stores for their own brand versions too, some are very good.
Most brands won’t be suitable as a daily option for many people given the price, but they're great for when you need something to sate your hunger on the go when you'd usually reach for a chocolate bar or junk food. You can also just make protein bars at home using nothing but oats, cinnamon, baking soda, a little maple/golden syrup, and a couple of scoops of plant-based protein powder.
17) Protein Powders - If you're trying to substantially increase your protein but don't want to eat high quantities of food, protein powder will help you out Even the cheaper powders are around 18g of protein per scoop, so a shake is an easy way to add more protein to your diet, or you can stir it into oatmeal to get most of your daily requirements over breakfast. Add some peanut butter, chia seeds, a banana, and some plant milk to a shake to make them tastier and more nutritionally dense. I use the vegan protein powder by Protein Works, because I like the taste and the high-quality protein sources they use. There are plenty of other good (and cheaper) options on the market, though.
18) Meal Replacement Powders - Some meal replacement shakes, like Huel Black, are around 40 grams of protein per serving (2 scoops) even when made with just water, providing a cheap and easy way to have a high protein and nutritious meal without any preparation or fuss. This is the one I use, but a lot of the diet and meal replacement shake options are vegan and are generally high in protein. If you're trying to just add protein then a protein shake will be more cost-effective, but as a high protein replacement for an actual meal, they are good to have around. Note: I don’t accept sponsorship or commissions from any brand and I don’t have any affiliate links. Any product recommendations are based solely on my own experience.

Headcanons and a short fanfic for Kureishi Misuyo🦴
Art by Mito-Amatsu
He goes ice skating 3 to 4 times a week because he enjoys it so much. He loves watching figure skating too.
He is really good at cooking especially curry and rice.
He dates a lot of people and Cosmo tells him he needs to stop acting like he’s a spring chicken and get married already 🤣🤣🤣
He hates caffeinated drinks and it makes him feel sick.
A day out shopping…
Kureishi had a lazy start to his Sunday as he woke up later than usual and went to check his fridge so he could make some breakfast, he gasped at the sight of it being so empty.
“…well damn…and I’m making dinner for the boys tonight…”, he said with a sigh, “….alright, time to go shopping”. He’d quickly shower and grab some breakfast on the go before heading to the supermarket.
He’d try a different supermarket that was having some sweet deal and he couldn’t pass up on that.
He had got all his supplies for the week before passing the bakery, “…oh I’m sure the boys would want something sweet…Adam got us in the habit of having dessert after dinner ever since he joined us”, he said with a little chuckle as he looked at the desserts. He wasn’t much of a sweets kind of person especially with his training and what not but he did indulge every now and then.
He looked at the various desserts and couldn’t decide, they all looked so good, “…need some help, sir?”, asked a person dressed in what seemed like a chef’s coat.
Kureishi looked up and smiled weakly, “…yes, they all look so good but I’m not sure what my students would like…they eating everything really”.
“I baked these all this morning…maybe a nice French chestnut cake…it’s light and has whipped cream…”, they said with a smile.
He was sold, that sounded so good, “…I’ll take one French chestnut cake then…”, he said with a smile.
The baker smiled and nodded before boxing up the cake, “…so you been working here a long time?”, Kureishi asked gently as he waited.
“No, I just moved here recently, I own my own bakery just down the street but I also supply this supermarket…”, they said with a smile as they handed in the box, “…I’m Y/N by the way”.
“That’s so cool, I’ll pop by your bakery soon…I’m Kureishi Mitsuyo…I’m a chiropractor not too far from here”, he said gently.
“Oh I’ve heard about you…only good things”, Y/N said with a smile.
He chuckled in response, “…that’s good to hear! I try my best! And if you ever need a chiropractor, come on by “.
“I shall, I hope you enjoy the cake!”, Y/N said with a smile as Kureishi smiled and nodded before heading off with his groceries to check out.
Dinner was a hit with the boys, “…I got some cake from the local supermarket…the baker own that shop you think is cute, Cosmo”, Kureishi said as he brought the cake out for them.
“Oh yeah! I went there a few times…they’re really good”, Cosmo said as Adam cut them some cake.
“The owner is pretty cute, don’t you think, master?”, Adam asked teasingly.
“The baker? I mean yeah but I didn’t want to hit on them since they were pretty nice and all”, Kureishi said with a little blush.
“Can it, Adam…he needs to get married already! He literally has so many people that he’s just ‘dating’. The baker is really nice…maybe even too good for him”, Cosmo said with a giggle as he ate some cake.
“Yeah you’re right, Cos…”, Adam laughed as he tucked into his piece of cake.
“I’m gonna kick both of your asses…eat your damn cake and shut up”, Kureishi said with a pout but deep down he knew they were right. It was about time he did settle down and maybe even have a few kids. He wasn’t getting any younger that’s for sure.
Maybe he’ll pay the baker a visit later that week to tell them how much the boys liked the cake…and ask them out on a date.

How early is too early to have a sandwich for breakfast? Today I’m feeling grateful for being able to go to a 7am Pilates class, come home, shower, and lay in bed naked reading Substack on my phone while drinking an americano with steamed oat milk. I’m slowly starting my work day now, still in bed.
I don’t know if it’s the passing of time, the rain, my friends canceling our Minneapolis road trip, general anxiety, but I’ve been feeling insanely lonely the last 48 hours. And I haven’t really been alone either. I had friends over for dinner (stir fry veggies and chicken in curry sauce with rice) on Tuesday, went into the office two days this week, had an unexpected work lunch yesterday, met some new people, went to yoga with my friend after work, watched Wanda last night, which I loved..
Tomorrow I’m getting my bangs trimmed and baking a cake for my friend’s house warming party on Saturday. I still have about 3 cups of cherries left over from michigan, which feels like a shortage. I think I possibly got myself addicted to them on some level after walking through the cherry orchards last week and diligently alternating between picking fruit and eating it. cherries are a good source of magnesium which has a calming effect I guess, my sisters therapist would always tell her to drink cherry juice if she was anxious before bed.
I’m going to try to make an upside down sweet cherry cake, I don’t know how it will turn out since it’s a new recipe but I’m hoping it will be spongey. If it is spongey enough I’ll cut it in half and add a layer of cream cheese frosting and black current jam that my mom and cousin made, and top it with lemon whipped cream.
I think my mom and aunt and cousin will come to the city on Saturday during the day, I’m going to find us tickets for an architecture boat tour or maybe instead we can go to art museum depending on the weather and how early they get here. because of the unexpected lunch yesterday the sandwich I made with love came back home with me last night (with love) I’m looking forward to eating it for an early lunch around 11, and I love an early lunch. I feel better realizing I have things to look forward to, be it a sandwich or a cake or a party
