Why a Comprehensive Dental Plan Should be Part of Your Business Health Insurance Package?
Tumblr media
A comprehensive dental plan is a vital component of any robust business health insurance package. While medical coverage often takes the spotlight, overlooking dental health can have significant consequences for both employees and the overall well-being of the workforce. Here are compelling reasons why a comprehensive dental plan should be an integral part of your business health insurance package:
Overall Health Connection: Dental health is intricately linked to overall health. Poor oral health has been associated with various systemic conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and respiratory infections. By including dental coverage in your health insurance package, you promote a holistic approach to well-being, recognizing that oral health is an integral part of an individual's overall health and quality of life.
Preventive Care and Early Intervention: Dental plans often include coverage for preventive services such as regular check-ups, cleanings, and X-rays. These preventive measures can help identify potential issues early on, preventing more extensive and costly dental treatments in the future. Early detection and intervention contribute to better oral health outcomes for employees and reduce the overall healthcare costs for both employees and the employer.
Employee Productivity and Absenteeism: Dental issues, such as cavities and gum disease, can lead to pain and discomfort, affecting an employee's ability to focus and be productive at work. Untreated dental problems may result in unplanned absences as employees seek dental care. By providing comprehensive dental coverage, businesses can help employees address dental concerns promptly, minimizing disruptions to productivity and reducing absenteeism.
Competitive Advantage in Talent Acquisition: Offering a comprehensive health insurance package that includes dental coverage enhances your competitiveness in the job market. Job seekers increasingly consider the overall benefits package when evaluating potential employers. A strong health insurance offering, including dental benefits, can be a key differentiator, attracting top talent and contributing to employee satisfaction and retention.
Improved Employee Satisfaction and Morale: Employees who have access to comprehensive dental coverage are more likely to feel valued and supported by their employer. This contributes to higher levels of job satisfaction and morale. When employees feel that their well-being is a priority, it fosters a positive workplace culture and can improve overall employee engagement and loyalty.
Preventing Emergency Dental Care: Without proper dental coverage, employees may delay seeking dental care until an issue becomes severe, leading to emergencies. Emergency dental care is not only more costly but can also result in extended absences from work. Including comprehensive dental coverage encourages employees to address dental concerns proactively, reducing the likelihood of emergencies.
Long-term Cost Savings: Investing in preventive dental care and early intervention can result in long-term cost savings for both employees and employers. By addressing dental issues before they escalate, businesses can avoid the financial burden associated with extensive and emergency dental treatments. This proactive approach contributes to the overall financial health of the organization.
In conclusion, a comprehensive dental plan is a strategic investment that goes beyond addressing oral health alone. It positively impacts overall employee health, productivity, and satisfaction while contributing to long-term cost savings for the employer. Including dental coverage in your business health insurance package is a proactive step towards creating a healthier and more resilient workforce, ultimately benefiting both employees and the success of the organization.

My Hero Academia: Healthcare?
Tumblr media
I don't know if any fanfic writers will find this useful or not, but I think the information is interesting and worth speculation in the My Hero setting. This also applies to any fanfic writers in the anime fandoms who want to have more immersive and in-depth writing. Obviously, writing fics that are 'accurate' is not a requirement since the point is to have fun, but here's some knowledge to use (or not use) if anyone is interested.
Obviously, Deku's been in the hospital a lot. A lot of the characters are injured and in the hospital a lot. But for all the hospital visits, nobody in the series is going to be bankrupted by astronomical healthcare costs. (Yes, that's a jab at America's system.) And it's not because the Pros, especially the popular ones, have money.
Here's why:
Quick rundown of how healthcare in Japan works: Everybody receives healthcare, everybody has health insurance. In Japan, your employer is legally required to provide you with health insurance. If you are unemployed, you will be on a community healthcare plan. There is also a plan for citizens over the age of 75. This also applies to foreigners who have established permanent residence of three months or longer.
Article 25 of Japan's Constitution is paraphrased as follows:
“all people shall have the right to maintain a certain standard of healthy and cultured life” and that “the state shall try to promote and improve the conditions of social welfare, social security, and public health” for this purpose.
I'm not going to reiterate the system in its entirety, but if you would like to learn more, this site here (the Article 25 quote I used is also found on that page) has a brief and comprehensive explanation of how healthcare is handled. However, one thing I am going to mention that is relevant for Deku and other Pros is the threshold out-of-pocket expense.
In Japan, citizens enrolled in healthcare do not spend more than ¥90,000 per month out of pocket, protecting them from financial disaster.
(To Americans, this may sound like a sweet deal, but hold your horses because Japan also funds this system through heavy taxation. Medical procedures are expensive and people will be paying for them one way or another.)
The question that needs asking now is how does this system apply to the hero society? Well, first off, since My Hero does take place in a slightly futuristic setting, we could take into consideration the system has been revised.
Assuming not much as changed, are heroes that operate their own agency technically considered business owners and are required to insure their employees and sidekicks?
Or...
Because they are all government employees, is the Safety Commission responsible for insuring all heroes and sidekicks no matter what they rank in their popularity?
Personally, I think it would be the latter since, in the coldest sense of the word, the heroes are essential to the Commission in upholding their system. So that makes them an asset. The Commission would want to protect its assets because as shady as they are, their own system could work against them. They certainly don't want heroes going on strike for lack of benefits or complaining the government doesn't take care of their people. So I assume it's the Commission who is covering insane healthcare costs on behalf of heroes.
(And since the system is probably funded by taxpayers' money, that also feeds into the prevalent societal discontent that's ongoing throughout the series.)
Now what about Deku and his classmates since they have not graduated and are not officially licensed yet? Honestly, I think it's probably UA itself that insures the students. That probably has to do with accreditation and so on, which is another matter entirely, but again, the backing is likely coming out of the Commission (and taxpayers') pockets.
And there you have it. Happy writing, happy research.

Topical or Injectable Testosterone Comparison: Which is Best For You?
i've met a lot of people who are unsure of which route of HRT they'd like to take. there are a lot of pros and cons to each one, I figured I would lay out some information to try to make that decision a bit easier for folks, as someone who has used both.
both forms of testosterone are equally as effective, topical is not "weaker" than injectable, everyone's bodies processes these hormones differently and the effectiveness depends on how your body processes medications, and your dosage.
Topical Testosterone
Taken daily, or for some folks, every few days
Either comes in a bottle with a pump that dispenses measured doses, or will come in a month's worth of small packets or tubes.
Many insurance plans in the United States will not cover topical testosterone for transgender or intersex HRT purposes, and if it is covered, it often costs an exorbitant amount of money- well into the hundreds of dollars
Requires clean skin prior to and covering the skin with clothing after application and avoiding swimming and showering for several hours after application
Hands must be washed afterwards to prevent transmission of the hormone to other people in your environment
Has a strong smell due to the gel being alcohol based
Can cause burning sensation if it accidentally gets into sensitive areas such as mucous membranes, cuts, your eyes, etc.
Can cause skin irritation in some folks, though this is rare
Being an alcohol based gel, it is very flammable, so caution is needed to be practiced around flames until the gel has dried
Can be easy to miss doses if you have chronic fatigue and/or illness, memory problems, mental health issues, or a busy lifestyle
Injectable Testosterone
Usually taken once or twice a week, depending on your needs
Testosterone cypionate is almost always covered by insurance in places where transgender HRT is a part of your plan. It is extremely cheap if it is not covered for whatever reason, usually costing around $15 for a month's worth of vials and syringes, but this can vary wildly depending on your area
Requires needles, syringes, a sharps container (safe container to dispose needles into), alcohol prep pads or isopropyl alcohol or other strong sterilizing agent for the injection site, bandages for applying to the site afterwards, and optionally gloves, but washing your hands prior to injecting works as well
If doing your own injections, you have to learn how to measure your dose accurately, and how to hold the needle at the angle most appropriate for your injections, as well as learning about if you need to do subcutaneous or intramuscular injections
Despite the amount of items required, injections are very quick and can be done and forgotten about until your next injection date- there is no daily maintenance for injections
You must switch up your injection spots every time you inject as to avoid damaging muscle and skin tissue
Injections can be done by endocrinologists and prescribers if you do not feel comfortable doing them yourself
It is possible for your skin to react to, or for you to be allergic to the injecting needles. This is rare, and can be addressed with your prescriber and/or an allergist
Testosterone cypionate will crystalize in cold temperatures. It will change in appearance and consistency, but can be returned to normal by placing the vial into warm water for a while and/or by shaking the vial for a while
this is not meant to be a comprehensive guide, but rather some observations ihave made in my 8 years of being on testosterone HRT. hope this is helpful, we will add anything else we can think of. good luck figuring out what's right for you in your journey

Tumblr media
After finally getting the keys to your recording studio, you were overjoyed and decided to take Latrice out for celebratory dinner.
Y/N: Dinner’s on me make yourself available
Latrice: 🤨
Latrice: u tryna poison me again?
Y/N: It was one time Latrice get over it
Latrice: I don’t have comprehensive health insurance here I’m not risking it
Y/N: 🙄 I’m taking you out for dinner
Latrice: Keep talking
Y/N: THE STUDIO IS READYYYY 🤩
Y/N: And I don’t wanna drink alone
Latrice: Wait that’s actually good news I’m so happy for you ahhhh 🥰🥰🥰
Latrice: But still no
Y/N: What why what did I do?
Latrice: Nothing I am busy
Y/N: 🧐
Y/N: Busy?
Y/N: …
Y/N: Waitttttt a damn minute
Y/N: I want a name cunt who tf you linked up with
Y/N: HELLO??? MA’AM?
Y/N: Whatever happened to sharing is caring huh?
Latrice: 👉🏾👈🏾
Y/N: Oh god what have you done
Y/N: Tell me it’s not who I think it is you dumb fucking bitch 😇
Latrice: 🤭
Y/N: Ms. Kabamba 😇
Team BEBE was filming the last bit of reaction segments with Mnet while they were interrupted by a few raps on their door. “Come in!” Lusher greeted her co-captain dance mate in with a hug.
Latrice slowly poked her head through the door, “Hey Bada can I borrow you for a quick second?”
Bada looked up, confused, but walked over nonetheless. “Is everything alright?”
“Calling in a personal favour,” Latrice smiled nervously, “can you go on a dinner tonight?”
“Dinner? Sure!” The choreographer hummed and nodded excitedly, “BEBE with Jam Republic?”
“You and Y/N,” Latrice snickered, “I have a date and had to bail, but she’ll be much much kinder to me if you’d go in my place instead.”
Bada raised an eyebrow and pointed at herself. Perplexed, she sounded a little dumbfounded, “Me? Why?”
Latrice rolled her eyes at the obvious question, “She has a fat celebrity crush on you since she the first episode aired, that’s why. Now please, pretty please with a cherry on top, would you go in my place tonight so she don’t-” Latrice stopped dead as you decided you’ve had enough of her ignoring your text and started calling her instead. Her eyes widen slightly in fear as she turned to the taller dancer. “Bada please I’ll owe you one, I’m so so sorry-” she swiped and picked up your call, “heyyyy Y/N, I was just telling Bada about your dinner plan tonight. She’s super keen! Here you go-”
Latrice palmed the phone to the choreographer like a hot potato, mouthing ‘thank you’ at the blonde.
Dinner with Bada? The sentence hasn’t fully registered in your brain as you begun to rip your high school mate a new one. “Ms. Kabamba,” you uttered with the coldest tone you could muster, a tone that Latrice knows all too well. A tone you only take with her when she knows she’s done something stupid, again.
“Sorry to disappoint,” a familiar voice broke you out of your rant. “Ms. Lee here. I heard we have plans?”
Damnit that cunt, I’ll deal with her later. You quickly composed yourself, “Never a disappointment, love. Any dietary restrictions?” You tried to mitigate your hoarse voice (from screaming ‘CUNNNNTTTTTT’ right before Latrice picked up the phone) and previously harsh tone by being as sweet as possible with your word choice, knowing that phone call rarely - if ever - made you sound more personable.
Love? Your husky delivery had the tall dancer flustered, trying to hide a blush taking form on her cheeks. Bada gulped, hard, and stumbled over her words, “N-no, I’m not picky. Where and when?” She tried to pass it off as cool and nonchalant, but Lusher seemed to have picked up on her change in tone.
“I’ll pick you up when you finish for the day? Latrice gave me their schedule.” Bada hummed over the phone, you can almost see her cute head bop as she does. Okay, dinner with Bada. One-on-one. I can do this, no biggie, fuck. “See you then, Love.”
Latrice gave Bada a parting hug when the call was over, the latter still bewildered by the unexpected call. “Thank you so, so much. You’re a life saver. Have fun later!” She quickly shuffled out the room, shutting the door behind her.
Lusher peaked over the tall dancer’s shoulder, Bada’s cheeks still warm from the conversation. She gasped as the blonde slowly clasped her hands onto her face, letting out a small shriek. “Oh god Bada what was that all about?” The co-captain raised an eyebrow at her leader’s demeanour.
“Lusher, did you bring an extra outfit?” Was the first thing that came out of Bada’s mouth.
Y/N: You’re off the hook
Y/N: For now
Y/N: I will grill you afterwards 😇
Latrice: What a weird way to say thank u but ok
Latrice: ure welcome
When you pulled up in your bike, you did not expect the gorgeous specimen to be walking out the building in a skirt. You gulped and paused for a (significant) moment, marvelling at her (legs). Her hair sat perfectly, framing her face. She smiled and waved at you, walking (omg her legs) over with a small prance (her legs y’all). “Hey, thanks for picking me up.”
“God you look amazing.” After pulling yourself together, you realised a slight problem. “I am so sorry,” you quickly apologised, motioning her skirt (legs), “I did not plan accordingly.”
She chuckled and shook her head, “Don’t worry about these, tights underneath. My hair however, is a different story.”
Relieved, you handed her a helmet with a smile and hopped onto the bike, signalling her to get on. Bada giggled and straddled herself behind you, wrapping her hands around your waist. Both of you were suddenly very grateful for the helmets for keeping you road safe and hiding blushes. “You good?” You did one last check. Bada hummed and gave you a soft squeeze before you both rode off.

I turn 18 next year and I’m not sure where I can get testosterone, I’ve looked at planned parenthood’s website but the only one in my state doesn’t offer hrt services 😭 do you have any advice on how to access hrt?
Lee says:
Happy (Very very) early birthday! If you're still a year away from being 18 you have plenty of time to figure this out.
You should start by talking to your primary care physician and ask if they are knowledgeable about gender-affirming care and are willing to prescribe you HRT themselves. If they are not experienced with HRT for gender-affirming reasons, ask them to look into it and refer you to a healthcare provider who is.
While you're waiting for your appointment (often it can be at least a month away even if you schedule the first available date) use that time wisely and go out into the world (And internet) and talk to people! There must be at least ONE other trans person in your state who is on hormones, right? You just have to find ONE other trans person in your state who is on hormones (and trust me-- there's more than just one trans person on hormones in your state! But all you need is one person), then find out where they're getting their prescription from!
Online platforms can be a great resource for shared experiences and advice so I'd just start by googling "transgender [insert hormone name] in [insert state]" until you find the right key terms. You might also be able to find something on Reddit or through Facebook groups.
Additionally, going to trans support groups and meeting people there and asking your trans friends to ask their friends, etc can all be a good way to find a provider through word-of-mouth.
Another thing you can try is contacting LGBTQ+ centers or organizations in your state and seeing if they have any recommendations. Even if Planned Parenthood's local branch doesn't offer HRT services, they may have a lists of trans-friendly healthcare providers or clinics that do, so it could still be worth reaching out to them.
If you're planning on attending college or university, check if the campus health center provides HRT or can refer you to local resources that do. Some college health centers offer comprehensive services for transgender students, but unfortunately most do not.
Many healthcare providers now offer telehealth services for transgender patients looking to start or continue HRT. These services can be particularly helpful if you live in an area with limited access to transgender healthcare. Providers like Folx Health, Plume, and QueerDoc offer gender-affirming care to patients in many states, all through telehealth platforms.
There's more info on starting hormones in this post, and you should take a look at that too.
Finally, I'm guessing that you don't have much experience with adulting which is fine because everyone starts somewhere! I was in the same position as you once. I also started to look into starting T when I was 17 and got everything ready (appointments scheduled for after my birthday, letter of support since it wasn't fully informed consent, lab work done the month before I was 18, etc), but didn't actually start hormones until I was 18.
Everyone has a different path through life, but this may be your first time scheduling doctor's appointments for yourself, signing up for a patient portal, getting your own health insurance (unless your parents support you being on HRT and wouldn't boot your off of their coverage), paying for appointment and prescription and lab work copays, etc.
Since you have a year until you're actually 18, it would be a good idea to start getting prepped for your first dive into the healthcare system as a legal-adult-even-if-it-doesn't-always-feel-that-way and google the basics of having and using health insurance. There's a lot of words you're going to need to learn one day (what's a deductible vs an out of pocket maximum vs an allowed amount etc) and this is as good of a time as any to start learning some of those basics (The advanced level is learning how to appeal denied claims, etc).
You got this anon! You're clearly on the right track by starting to investigate the process of starting HRT in advance, and remember that starting HRT as an adult also comes with adult responsibilities like figuring out how to pay for it! When you're thinking through the logistics of finding an in-network prescriber, don't forget to budget for those things too.
Followers, any tips for anon?
