#COLORED RAINDROP CAKE CRACKER#
The black sugar and kinako is the entire point. The raindrop itself tastes less.clean? Pure? The texture is much more of a jelly-like substance. The original flavor here does not taste the same. Sunmerry Bakery does it a little different though. It tastes like very pure spring water which is why the true stars here are the black sugar and kinako. The Darren Wong version actually tastes very pure. The intention of this dessert is for you to appreciate the taste black sugar and kinako (soybean powder) which is why the raindrop cake tastes like nothing. At least, it was the only flavors I tasted. The black sugar and soybean powder did complement it well though. I paid $8 for this?! Something I have been eating all my life? And is somehow super hyped up because it's shaped like a breast implant?! This raindrop cake is basically "Thach" which is the Vietnamese word for jelly / Jell-o and is made out of Agar Agar. Being born in an Asian family in California, I get to enjoy the best of both worlds. And because, I've tasted it before so it wasn't anything special. I felt a bit deceived when I tried it because it didn't taste like anything. He also sold it for a whopping $8 at the Brooklyn Smorgasburg which is like a daytime food festival (like a night market over here) with a variety of food vendors and booths. He called it the Raindrop Cake and apparently it's now called that everywhere else too. The "Original" Raindrop Cake creator (although it actually originates from Japan called mizu shingen mochi.) is this guy named Darren Wong that introduced it in New York and it basically broke the internet (but why?.). Let's just say that I would rather pay $4.50 for these than $8 at some night market. →Mango: (not sure of details because it wasn't available at that time we went)
#COLORED RAINDROP CAKE CRACKER#
→Strawberry: a bit sweeter with condensed milk and graham cracker crumbs →Original: plain flavored with black sugar and soybean powder There are 3 types of Raindrop Cakes available: seating area in the plaza itself with a dried up lake / river thing nearby Lollicup! Wish we knew about this earlier because we just stood around eating. There aren't even tables outside nearby to sit at.īut there is a like. You go in, grab your tongs and get the bread yo want! There are no seats inside so it's more of a go-in-n-out type of place. And of course, they have new items such as the Raindrop Cakes! They've got savory baked goods, sweet baked goods, egg tarts, puddings, cakes and so much more! They have your typical boba drinks too such as green tea and milk teas. Sunmerry Bakery has more than just Raindrop Cakes! They have so many baked goodies that look delicious! Kevin and I were going to splurge! But we just got the garlic cheese bombs and green tea croissants.

That fascinated me and I decided I would figure out how to make it on my own. Drop it like it's hot Why The Raindrop Cake is Overhyped Here is the address to Sunmerry Bakery: 14805 Jeffrey Rd, Irvine, CA 92618 Same plaza as Lollicup and. I started Raindrop Cake as a small side hustle based on a fondness for Japanese desserts. The attention it got took me by complete surprise. In April 2016 I launched Raindrop Cake at Smorgasburg in New York.

Add your sugar and wait for all the sugar to dissolve before lowering the heat. In a pot, heat up your water but do not let it get to a boil. While that sits, create your clear mixture on the stove. Meanwhile, the hot dog and vegetable pulao are having a hearty laugh at this basic classification mix up. Prepare your gelatin mixture in a separate bowl, stirring the gelatin mixture in with water and letting it sit. Internet, raindrop deserts are certainly lovely, but y'all need to stop calling a Jello ball "cake." #WordsHaveMeaningsĪre you ready to try this bright purple Raindrop Cake? /Da911A3O0Tīut is this going to stop any of us from digging into Wong’s new violet food? No. Available in small quantities for events and parties. Why is a blob of gelatin being referred to as “cake”? The first time we were too blinded by its pretty façade to point it out, but this time round we can’t help but notice how this cake is nothing but a glob of gelatin. Edible, wiggly agar jelly orbs in a variety of flavors with edible flowers inside. Probably wouldn't have purchased it if I had known it tasted like gooified rain water. It wasn't really appetizing at all, but it was sorta fun to make. In my head I had expected a 'cake' like flavor, but it taste like watery goo with brown sugar syrup. yes dippy we should talk about bi cregan with bi reader!!
imagine them recruiting northern hotties for threesomes 🤭
mmf: cregan with another man (preferably jace) giving her that double worship. cregan always has the upper hand ofc even when it's not a twink but another big broody northern they're sharing their bed with. and when cregan gets to top him while he eats her out and she holds eye contact with cregan as he's fucking that guy.
ffm: it's either the same way that she is the center of attention OR cregan and her tagteam that other woman and fuck her stupid. cregan with his big fat uncut cock and her with her tongue and fingers while cregan fucks the other woman.
- respectful anon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: cregan stark x jacaerys velaryon x reader
authors note: oh respectful anon… i read (preferably jace) and absolutely shuddered. oh my god . i’m sorry the other ideas in here are wonderful too i just have to get this out before i go off my rocker
Tumblr media
jacaerys arriving in the north, bearing the colors of queen rhaenyra, and being greeted by cregan stark — and his comely wife.
he can feel his breath hitch as soon as he slides off vermax and spots you, arm wrapped around cregans bicep. even though the snow crunches under his boots and the early winter winds seep beneath his clothing, jace feels his skin run hot. and this time, he cannot blame it on the blood of the dragon.
once you approach, jace gives you both a respectful nod of his head, before cregan greets jacaerys with a firm handshake. jace takes your hand, kissing your knuckles, and says the tales do not do your beauty (they don’t). you only smile, dipping into a small curtsy and playfully telling him not to make you blush.
he spares a glance at cregan, a small worry of overstepping dancing in his gaze, but cregan only nods — a smirk adorning the lord of winterfells lips.
the very lips that have grown accustomed to the feel of yours.
the thought is shooed away as quickly as it arises. you’re married, and jace feels a pang of disappointment at the places his mind has a tendency to wander to. you’re extending your hospitality to him, he won’t disrespect you with such concepts (won’t he?).
once having vermax sorted, you & cregan then escort him to winterfell. cregan speaks of the north and its history, and jace replies when necessary, but he finds his gaze drifting from the lord of winterfell, and landing on the lady attracted to his side instead. jace, no matter how much internal scolding, finds himself ceaselessly returning to quietly study (admire) your features.
as you enter the castle, jace notices your cheeks are flushed from the cold. cregan, mid sentence, silently ushers you towards the nearest hall fire with the unforeseen hand on the small of your back. something unfamiliar stirs in him at the sight (want).
they swore vows to each other in sight of the northern gods, chides jaces inner voice.
but, no matter how much restraint he expresses, as his stay continues, he finds himself enamored.
enamored with the playful glimmer in your eyes, the way your hips sway as you walk, how your dress hugs your curves, your light teasing, your love for lemon cakes, how you always catch jacaerys’ eye even from across the room. he’s utterly, hopelessly enthralled.
and even worse, he’s given himself away
you, jace, and cregan have been proper. careful not to overstep, but aware enough to silently acknowledge the underlying tension that sits between you. jacaerys would’ve been content with this dynamic for the entirety of his visit, it would’ve been a good exercise of self control — if the day in the kitchens didn’t change everything.
the skies weep, the raindrops making a soft pattering noise on the windows all around the castle. it's a brief change in atmosphere, and gives him time to get used to the more intimate aspects of winterfell.
rain trapping you inside, you and cregan had offered to give jacaerys a proper tour of winterfell, to rectify the short one he had been given upon his arrival.
this particular instance, that made him run as hot as his temper, takes place as the tour winded to an end, and you all ended up in the kitchens. the same kitchens that jace, when supping with you both from then on out, can't stop thinking about.
you had pulled them in, relishing in the idea of swiping a few small pastries to hold your sweet tooth over until dinner - assuring him that the cooks were quite used to you and cregans troublemaking, & were sworn to secrecy with a toothy grin (his heart skipped a beat at the sight).
you had been successful in your "stealing", but the problem arose when cregan had been conversing with one of the cooks, as you and jace stood over the counter, bringing the two small lemon cakes to your mouth.
you were conversing about something — what that was, jacaerys couldn’t remember if his life depended on it. once finished with your pastries, you had some leftover cream on the corner of your mouth. of course, since you're the worst minx to ever bewitch him, you raise a thumb to the corner of your mouth, swiping it off. then (of course), you bring it to your lips, maintaining eye contact with jace, and (of course) suck it off.
whatever he was saying had instantly died on his tongue.
his response was his parted lips trying to bring in air to send to his lungs so he could breathe, but, of course, you seem to have taken his breath too. suddenly the kitchen feels hot, ovens contributing to a warm atmosphere that had quickly turned blazingly overwhelming.
his gaze stayed trapped on where your thumb met your (soft looking) lips, as every part of the white cream had been sucked off.
you were most surprised & pleased by his reaction, indeed. you had an inkling the prince might be taken with you, but you wouldn’t act without certainty. and here you had it, certainty of the utmost stature had fallen right into your hands — watching his gaze flicker from your eyes, to your lips, your cleavage... and back to your lips again.
cregans voice snaps jacaerys out of the trance he had found himself in, and he’s ashamed to say he had to ask cregan to repeat himself. if he wasn’t devoting all of his energy into acting normal, he would see the way cregan glanced at you with raised brows seeing the smile on your face.
regardless of how it came to be, you’ve caught on. and jacaerys is seriously considering how dearly he’d be missed if the ground were to open up & swallow him whole.
your actions now have a certain weight behind them, confidence guiding your every step. hands “accidentally” brushing each other, glances from across the room, subconsciously leaning into each others warmth, flirtatious “jests” that grow bolder by the day, always teetering on the line of jesting and meaning it (you always mean it). you fix his crooked tunic for him, shifting it the right way. jacaerys pretends the warmth emanating from your hands doesn’t make him dizzy.
still, even so, jace had been showing remarkable restraint — not allowing his princely regime to falter (much), and keeping in his remarks. until you both spoke about vermax.
you stood atop one of winterfells walls, watching vermax fly, dipping in & out of the clouds. he was beautiful, and jacaerys would never abandon the opportunity of a conversation with you (or about vermax, of course).
jace told you of how vermax hatched in his crib as a babe, and you wistfully remark on your childhood dreams of dragonriding. he tells you you'd make a fearsome dragonrider. you say you'd made a good dragon rider indeed, but, instead of looking at vermax, jace finds your gaze fixed on him.
you poorly conceal the hidden tone of voice indicating you don't mean the green-scaled dragon in the sky above you, but the chocolate-curled dragon next to you. you don't do a good job of hiding the grin that threatens to erupt on your face, either.
jace feels a furious blush adorn his face, and the corners of his mouth tug up in a repressed smirk. his tongue darts out to wet his lips, his smile turning upside down as his gaze shifts back to vermax's soaring form.
"You speak truly. Any man would envy the dragon."
he pretends not to see the smile spreading across your face from his peripheral. you lean in closer to him, wrapping a hand around his bicep to punctuate your words.
"Men already envy you, My Prince."
he keeps his resolve as you walk away, but as soon as you're out of sight, he sighs — leaning his weight against the edge of the top of the wall, a shuddering exhale leaving his lips. gods have mercy on jacaerys velaryon.
after you sup for dinner, you and cregan escort him to his chambers, and jace feels taking on the entire green army by itself would be easier than this. trying to conceal his eyes being trapped on you, furious desire mounting in his stomach as guilt claws it’s way up his throat. it’s only by stroke of luck that you all walk in silence — he could not entertain a proper conversation if he tried.
does cregan know of your conversation? what would he say? what would he do? the very last thing he needs to be doing is disrespecting the warden of the north that he’s trying to ally.
these thoughts echo in his mind as you approach the door leading to his chambers. you three stop, jaces back to the heavy oak door as you and cregan stand in front of him.
“We shall see you in the morn, then.” says cregan.
jace nods, but his next words die on his tongue as you move from cregans side. his heart hammers in his chest as you saunter to him, standing on your tiptoes as your hand moves to cup his cheek. he subconsciously leans down for you, and you press a kiss onto the corner of his mouth, a breath to the right away from his lips.
seven save him.
his lips part with bated breath, eyes locked onto you as you pull away. his hands twitch with the need to pull you to him, and then he remembers your husband that’s standing right in front of you both.
jaces eyes widen, looking to cregan, but cregan only tilts his head.
his lips… is he smiling? as they hold eye contact, he spots amusement, content, and want (?) in cregans gaze, and then, the smallest of nods.
oh.
oh.
jace’s gaze flickers from cregan, to you, and back and forth a few more times. his breathing is unsteady as you return to cregans side, and you can’t (or don’t) hide your pleasure at his reaction.
“Goodnight, My Prince.”
he cant even manage a nod as you both turn to walk away, cregan shooting him one last look. the flustered prince of dragonstone retreats to his chambers, leaning his head against his closed & locked door — moving to fiddle with the laces of his breeches.
you and your husband certainly make quite the pair. cregan, steadfast, burly, & brooding (handsome), with a reserved playfulness only for you — and you, teasing, warm, & confident, with a seemingly reserved deliberateness to drive jacaerys crazy (not that it takes much, of course).
one night, when he thinks he's completely lost any hope of sanity, the gods decide to have a sort of cruel mercy on him.
it is lord boltons name day, and he has extended the planned celebrations invitation to jacaerys as well. you three depart as one, opting to travel by horseback instead of jace arriving on vermax days before you and cregan. most are surprised by his decision, indeed (did jace sacrifice his freedom on dragonback for the prospect of spending more time with you both?).
jace didn't know you rode horses. he acts like the swaying of your hips doesn't capture him, distracting him throughout the entire journey. you and cregan act like you don't notice (do you?)
you all arrive, and on the day of celebrations, allow the wine & northern ale to wash away your sins down your throat. cregans tolerance is highest, jace's is lowest, with you resting in the middle. his cheeks are flushed, and his prided self control has seemed to have left itself at winterfell. you converse with one another in a secluded corner, allowing everyone else to fade from view. you speak with loose tongues, and jacaerys feels cregans hand on the back of his neck, thumb creeping into his hairline.
you speak of the festivities, the travel, the gossip, dragonstone, and jaces own interests. he can see something lurking beneath your usual gaze, you were hiding something. your eyes flickered with uncertainty. no — you wanted to know something.
and then, the very question that broke the damn - sweltering with the combined pent up desire allowed to built over the last weeks.
"Are you untouched, My Prince?"

Hellooo I have cometh out of hibernation and I am in need of some spicy Raintom or Raindrop or fuck it all 3 of the bugs. I pay in: Rain Cake🎂
Tumblr media
ehehe ass
1k words, transmasc dew, vag and anal sex, at once because i love me some classical dp between bros, yk how it goes heh, objectification if you squint, bit of hair and tail pulling
Dewdrop wasn’t as big of a brat as he usually seemed. He wasn’t as aggressive either, it was mostly a facade. He was actually quite sweet and level headed, something he owed to his past as a water ghoul.
That doesn’t mean he can’t be a brat. Far from it.
He is going to be one when he’s too pent up to ignore, but too annoyed by the fact alone, to ask for help. Bratting his way into getting what he wants is his way of asking.
Rain knows that perfectly well, but it doesn’t mean he’s not happy to indulge.
This time it took the water ghoul three days to snap, grab Dewdrop by the tail and drag him away snarling. He was getting exactly what he wanted, yes, but it didn’t mean he wouldn’t act highly offended by Rain’s display.
“Asshole,” the fire ghoul snapped his teeth but didn’t put up much of an actual physical protest.
“As you wish,” Rain told him calmly, leaving Dewdrop confused. Just outside Rain’s bedroom’s door they came across Phantom, staring at them like a deer caught in the headlights. Suddenly Rain got an idea. “Come. You’ll get a brat taming lesson.”
He threw Dewdrop inside the room and waited for Phantom to walk in, too, before slipping in himself. He looked over at the fire ghoul standing with his arms crossed over his chest and his eyebrows raised.
Rain snarled and everything happened so fast then, that Phantom and Dewdrop himself had barely even registered it. One moment he was standing in the middle of the room and the other he was bent over the bed with his ass bare and tail yanked upwards.
“Phantom,” Rain called out sternly. “Strip and get on the bed, on your back.”
The quintessence ghoul scrambled to obey, scared of getting the same treatment as Dewdrop for misbehaving. Soon enough he was in position with his cock standing straight up, hard since the moment he saw Rain drag Dewdrop through the corridor.
“Good,” Rain praised, and let go of the fire ghoul. “Sit on his cock, Droplet.”
Both Dewdrop’s and Phantom’s stomachs flipped at Rain’s tone, as if both of them were nothing more than toys.
“Boring,” the fire ghoul scoffed despite it, but crawled over to hover his dripping cunt over Phantom’s dick as he stared up at him frozen with his mouth agape. Dewdrop slipped a hand down to run through his wet folds—toying with his clit just to piss Rain off even more on the way—and parted them before sinking down onto the quintessence ghoul’s cock all the way down.
Dewdrop groaned through clenched teeth while Phantom moaned like a whore, still laying limply. The fire ghoul immediately started rolling his hips through the initial sting of spearing himself on the other’s cock but was quickly stopped by a harsh tug on his hair.
“No, you don't,” Rain snarled right into his ear, making a shiver go down Dewdrop’s spine. “Phantom, color?”
“Uh…” Where Dewdrop was already losing his fight, Phantom was already stupid. “G– green.”
Rain didn’t respond, just pushed the fire ghoul down so he’d lay chest to chest on Phantom. “Don’t you dare move, Dewdrop.”
“Uhuh,” he grunted, entirely focused on the quintessence dick filling him so nicely. He could never brat much more with a cock snug inside him. He floated away slightly, his chin on Phantom’s sternum as his eyes fluttered close. Dewdrop loved getting fucked into oblivion but he was a true whore for cockwarming.
He wasn’t at peace for long, though, startling when his tail was yanked up again and a cold, wet finger circled his asshole, “Oh, uh, Rain– what are you–”
“Your idea, don’t you remember?” The fire ghoul didn’t need to see Rain's face to see his smirk. He was still confused, totally out of it, really, but it’s not like he was going to complain. Still, Rain wanted to make sure, “Color?”
“Greeeeen,” Dewdrop whined and pushed his ass back, earning himself a growl from the water ghoul and a moan from Phantom.
“Do. Not. Move,” Rain spat once more and shoved two slick fingers into Dewdrop’s ass with no more preamble. The fire ghoul moaned, all fucked out, and went completely limp.
“R– Rainy, I– I can–” it was Phantom’s turn to whine. Rain knew exactly what he was trying to say and helped him get there by curling his fingers downwards and pressing them into the quintessence ghoul’s cock through Dewdrop’s inner walls. They both moaned in unison, completely out of their minds.
“That’s what I thought,” Rain chuckled and started to really finger Dewdrop, moving his digits in and out with a filthy squelch and occasionally crooking them to remind Phantom he was right there. Of course, he took way too much than actually needed, reveling in being able to reduce both Dewdrop and Phantom to nothing more but babbling, drooling messes with just his words and fingers.
“Rainyyy,” the fire ghoul cried out again. “Fuck me, come on… please, put it in, fuck my ass.”
“Stop whining,” Rain growled, but pulled his fingers out. As much as he enjoyed torturing his ghouls he was starting to get needy himself, cock rock hard and leaking for what felt like hours now.
The water ghoul finally ripped his pants off and moaned when his dick sprung out of its confinement, cold air hitting the sensitive flesh. He grabbed Dewdrop’s limp legs and hooked them over Phantom’s, pushing them together. The tightness made the two ghouls whimper as Rain straddled them and guided the red tip of his cock to the fire ghoul’s slippery hole.
“You can brat all you want, Droplet, but I know you like it best to be just my obedient little fuck doll,” Rain whispered and with one thrust buried himself to the hilt in Dewdrop’s hot, tight ass. High moans rang out in the room, the tightness nearly unbearable for all three of them. The water ghoul had to take a moment for a few deep breaths, lest he blow his load too fast.
When he managed to compose himself as best as possible, Rain leaned to whisper into Dewdrop’s ear again, “Me and our dear Phantom here are going to use your sweet holes. We’ll stretch you out and fill you up, ruin for everyone else. And you are not going to move an inch, do you understand?”
Dewdrop let out a pained little noise, “Y– yes… please.”
“Careful what you ask for, baby.”

Grocery Store - Marius/Daniel - Slice of Life - 1340 words
Just a little slice of life ficlet written for the @vamptember prompt "Grocery Store." I love imagining the immortals in stores and shops, IDK why but it's always fun to picture so I couldn't resist.
Full text beneath the cut.
The air was electric with the impending storm and it made Daniel’s hair stand on end. Marius hurried him along the sidewalk, wanting to get home before the downpour.
They made it two more blocks before thunder cracked overhead and the sky opened. Rain pelted down in great sheets, raindrops slamming into the pavement with such force that they bounced back up and soaked the legs of his jeans. Daniel spotted the bright lights of the supermarket across the street and pulled Marius toward it.
They rushed inside, the automatic doors dinging as they closed behind them. Daniel’s sweatshirt dripped water on the floor. Marius watched the rain through the glass, squeezing the wetness out of his long hair. He glanced at Daniel. “Are you all right?”
Daniel bit back a sarcastic retort about how he was not the Wicked Witch of the West who could be melted with water. “A little wet but I think I’ll survive.”
“I was sure we’d make it home before it started,” Marius said, clearly annoyed that he’d misjudged the timing.
Daniel shrugged. “It’s the weather. Not even our Norse friend Thorne can hold back the thunder.”
Marius smiled faintly and then sighed. “I guess we can remain here for a bit, see if it stops.”
Daniel noticed one of the cashiers watching them. The store was open for several hours yet but it was pretty empty. He grabbed a hand basket and urged Marius deeper into the store. They could at least pretend they were doing more than riding out the rain.
They meandered through the produce section. Daniel picked up a pineapple. He could just barely remember how it had tasted: sweet, tart, acidic. “Did you ever get to try one of these?”
Marius shook his head.
“Shame.” He set the pineapple down. Sometimes the things some of the older vampires had never gotten to experience astounded him: tomatoes, chocolate, Spaghetti-Os in a can. Things he’d always taken for granted. In another five hundred years, who knew what new wonders Daniel would find strange or incomprehensible, or simply never get to taste?
Marius wandered in front of an endcap stacked with soft drinks. As he stood there in front of cans of Pepsi and Dr. Pepper, Daniel was struck suddenly by how out of place Marius looked here inside a garishly lit supermarket. Even in the modern clothes he wore tonight—khakis and a red polo shirt—he had an air of timelessness that made him stand out, exacerbated by the pallor of his marble skin.
Of course, any mortal who noticed something off would chalk it up to their imagination, but he looked so otherworldly that it made Daniel’s pulse race. He was beautifully inhuman. Daniel surreptitiously snapped a photo with his iPhone.
Marius turned, smiling indulgently, and Daniel felt his cheeks flush a little, sure Marius had heard his thoughts.
They moved on to the bakery section. There, they studied the display case of cakes, decorated with bright colored frostings and little sugar flowers.
“Incredible, isn’t it?” Daniel pointed to a cake with beautiful orchids in shades of pink and orange made out of icing.
“It is a fascinating use of colored sugar,” Marius said.
Daniel started to say something about the artistic merit of cake decoration but decided against it. He wasn’t in the mood to get roped into another debate about what constituted art.
He headed down the next aisle and found himself in front of an array of canned vegetables with glossy, colorful labels. Daniel lifted a can of peas from the shelf as Marius came up silently beside him.
“Armand used to love the canned food aisle,” Daniel said, remembering the first time he’d taken him to a grocery store. Armand had spent an hour lifting cans, reading the labels, and questioning Daniel about the contents. They’d bought a cart full of stuff, so much that they’d had to take a taxi back to their apartment, where Armand diligently opened every single can and dumped the contents out onto styrofoam plates to study it.
Daniel laughed at the memory, even as the ache of missing his maker wormed through him.
“New York is not that far,” Marius said softly.
Daniel sighed. He thought about that a lot, but he wasn’t ready. The stilted phone calls he and Armand shared were awkward and strange and Daniel didn’t know how to talk to him anymore. The thought of being in the same room as him again was overwhelming. He placed the can of peas back on the shelf.
“We can’t even get a mile back to our place,” Daniel quipped.
Marius smiled at the bad joke but Daniel caught something in his eyes, a sadness or a longing perhaps. It was gone before he could be sure, replaced with something more playful. “Is that a challenge?”
“You know I enjoy challenging you, but that was merely an observation,” Daniel said, purposely bumping Marius’ shoulder as he moved down the aisle. “Come on, Old Man, I’ll blow your mind.”
He heard Marius laugh softly as he turned the corner to the next aisle. When Marius reached him, Daniel gestured to the shelves full of colorful cereal boxes with cartoon mascots and big, colorful fonts.
“Behold, the modern breakfast of champions,” Daniel said.
Amusement crinkled the skin around Marius’ eyes. “I know what cereal is, Daniel. I do watch television occasionally.”
“But did you ever imagine such a thing when you were young, mortal, and hungry in the morning?”
“Did I ever envision an illustrated tiger trying to sell me a box of sweetened grain? No, I can’t say that I did.”
Daniel sighed. “Sometimes I think about how much has changed in the few decades since I was mortal and then I try to imagine how different everything will be in another hundred years, let alone a thousand.”
“Does that worry you?” Marius asked.
Daniel shook his head. “I want to see how the world changes, what advancements are made, what new technologies and inventions appear. It’s part of why I wanted this.”
“But…” Marius pressed.
Daniel shrugged. “I guess I didn’t expect things to change so fast.”
Marius laughed, loud and boisterous, his voice ringing through the aisle. He put his arm around Daniel’s shoulders. “The longer you live, the faster things seem to change. The more you will step out of the house and realize the world is not the one you knew a century or even a decade before.”
Daniel stared at the glossy cereal boxes that now had metallic shiny letters decorating them. He couldn’t even remember what Frosted Flakes tasted like. “How do you handle it?”
Marius considered. “A passion for the world and the people in it, I suppose. A desire to discover what will happen next.”
“And that keeps you going?” Daniel asked.
Marius was silent for a long moment. “I endure because I must.”
“For yourself or for everyone else?”
Marius ruffled Daniel’s hair affectionately. “Always asking pointed questions.”
“You like that about me,” Daniel said wryly.
“Indeed I do.” Marius was silent for a long moment. “I believe surrounding ourselves with others is how we remain connected to the world and keep our desire to exist in it. Mortals and their art and creativity and philosophy and new wonders.” Marius’ arm slid down and around Daniel’s waist, tightening around him. “And there’s our own kind, of course. Never discount the power of connection to others who also endure.”
Daniel leaned against him, Marius’ body solid and powerful like it was made of his stone, his arm around Daniel like a marble vice, keeping him close and safe.
“I think that’s the key,” Daniel said. “Connection to our kind.”
“You’ve always been wise beyond your years.” Marius kissed the top of Daniel’s head and led him out of the aisle, back to the front of the store.
The rain had abated, becoming only a light drizzle. Daniel replaced his empty hand basket in the holder and they walked out into the damp night, arm in arm.

*drops down from the trees by grappling hook with a birthday cake*
Dedicated to @altocat, who brightens everyone's day with her wonderful writing and headcanons 🎂 ❤️ Here's my attempt at bittersweet Glenn and Sephiroth fluff.
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
Sephiroth liked the smell of what Hojo was quick to label as 'dirt and grime'—the damp earth beneath his boots, the smell of fresh morning raindrops dripping from the trees overhead, the crisp mountain breeze that carried notes of pine and flowers.
It filled his lungs and reminded him that he breathed, as any other human being, and that there was more to the world than his obligations and Shinra's conquests.
Glenn and Sephiroth sat perched atop a rugged cliff, their backs against the cool, weathered rocks overlooking a sprawling ravine that stretched far below. Sephiroth's gaze wandered over the expanse before them. Gently letting his eyes flutter shut, he wished he could drink it all up, treating it like an addictive drug he would consume forever if he could.
Glenn extended a glass soda bottle towards him, its oddly-colored contents gleaming in the sunlight as he gradually opened his eyes. The whimsical label was adorned with a cheerful moogle proudly showing off its drink, and the words Kupo Pop! Secret Flavor!
"I don't understand why the ingredients can't be labeled on the bottle," Sephiroth, ever the skeptic, remarked as he accepted the glass bottle.
Glenn rolled his eyes as the younger boy began turning the bottle around, reading the scattered words for any hints as to what it contained. "Go ahead, give it a try," he encouraged, twisting the cap from his own blueberry soda. "Part of the fun is in the mystery, you know. Maybe the secret is that it's just irresistibly delicious."
Sephiroth looked up, his lips a thin line as he stared pointedly ahead. "Secrets aren't fun.”
"But they can be," Glenn countered, pointing his bottle at him. "They're fun to keep, fun to share, and most importantly, fun to savor." With a light clink, Glenn tapped his bottle against Sephiroth's.
Sephiroth's lips would have easily been confused with a squiggly line drawn by a child on paper. He frowned, staring down at the bottle with unease, his choppy hair falling over his eyes. "Aren't there supposed to be… orange flavors? I've heard about orange soda.”
Glenn nearly spat out his mouthful of blueberry as he pulled it from his lips. "Woah, you've never had soda before?"
Glenn's surprise was evident as Sephiroth shook his head in response. He tried not to let his jaw fall slack as he lifted his hand to his face, scratching at his stubble. “Huh…. How about that. Well don't worry. I'd never give you something you wouldn’t like."
Sephiroth arched a single eyebrow, looking mildly annoyed. "That's what you said about the marshmallows.” His hands clenched around the glass bottle. “They tasted funny."
“Ha!” Glenn nudged him. “Hey, it's not my fault you're a weird little dude who doesn't like marshmallows.”
As he drained the contents of his soda, Sephiroth looked back down at his own. Determined, he grabbed the bottle opener from the dusty ground and hooked it to the cap.
Gradually, Sephiroth braced himself and took a swig of the mysterious soda. Glenn watched, unblinking as Sephiroth squeezed his eyes shut and gulped it down.
Instantly, a sharp sensation tingled and bubbled in his throat. Acid? Not good. He instinctively spat it out, hacking and coughing.
Glenn erupted into laughter, letting his bottle fall to his lap as he clapped. Sephiroth cleared his throat twice, water lining his widened, green eyes.
"Is it supposed to burn?" Sephiroth spluttered, wiping his lips with the back of his wrist. His voice tinged with a mixture of surprise and discomfort, which would've made Glenn feel horribly guilty if it weren't hilarious.
Sephiroth The Great, defeated by a mystery Kupo Pop flavor. Matt and Lucia would never believe it.
Leaning back against the rocky ledge, Glenn's laughter subsided as he regarded Sephiroth with amusement. "Well, what does it taste like?"
Sephiroth paused, gathering his thoughts after the unexpected attempt on his life.
"I don't know. I was caught off guard by the burning. I forgot to notice the flavor."
Reluctantly, Sephiroth took another sip—small this time, less overwhelming. He was cautious as he contemplated the taste lingering on his tongue, his face twisting along with his flickering thoughts.
"Passion fruit," he declared after a moment of contemplation.
Glenn arched an eyebrow skeptically. "Hm. Is it offensive that I doubt whether you know what passion fruit tastes like?"
His tone was teasing, but he was serious. He barely knew what passion fruit tasted like. Exotic fruits were hard to come by in Midgar, and when they did, he wasn't willing to break open his wallet to succumb to expensive curiosity.
Sephiroth shifted uncomfortably, averting his eyes as he traced patterns on the bottle's icy condensation. “When Professor Hojo has my dental impressions done, the alginate has a passion fruit flavor.” He shrugged. “Or at least it used to when I was very young. Now it tastes like nothing."
Glenn's unease at the mention of Professor Hojo flickered briefly across his features, but he hid it well for Sephiroth's sake.
He suppressed the urge to make a joke about the mundanity of adult life— “Hey kid! Welcome to the real world, where everything is bitter and sweetness is rare.” That's what he would've said had it been anyone other than the boy sitting by his side, the child who should be able to taste passionfruit—and soda—and marshmallows. And freedom.
Glenn reached around, patting Sephiroth on the back as he masked his discontentment with a subtle grin. "Remind me to buy you a real passionfruit when we're back in Midgar.”
Sephiroth's smile held a touch of gratitude, but he said nothing else. His gaze lingered on the bottle in his hand, lost in thought.
Back in Sephiroth's mind, the passion fruit soda now tasted like a suffocating hand shoving itself down his throat, forcing him to throw everything good and whole he had digested back up in hopes of feeding him misery.
Glenn didn't like it when Sephiroth went quiet. "So!” He promoted, stretching his arms. “Secrets aren't fun? How come?”
"No," Sephiroth replied solemnly, his voice tinged with a hint of bitterness. "They're barriers—walls built to control and keep you happy."
His conviction weighed the air around them. Glenn needed to distract him. "And do you have any secrets?" he tried gently.
Sephiroth looked up, his gaze translucent, unblinking. "There's nothing I haven't told you," he confessed. “And there's nothing I wouldn't tell you.” He pressed his lips together and straightened his back, probably trying to sound mature but cracking under Glenn's wiser gaze. “Not that I keep anything. From anyone.”
A quiet, almost inaudible “It's not like I can” reached Glenn's ears, but he chose to ignore it in favor of an idea that arose just as it was needed.
Glenn huffed. “Alright. How about I tell you one of mine then?”
Sephiroth listened intently, the cold glass of the bottle pressing against his reddened, ungloved fingers.
"Okay so. A few years ago when I was a rookie…I was a part of this mission out to the Gongaga region. I was supposed to be watching over our materia stash, since the group was small and we were camped out in the jungle. I thought it was a good idea to bury them in the dirt by the river. Little did I know how rainstorms are a daily occurrence in the jungle.”
He paused for dramatic effect, savoring the way Sephiroth's eyes went wide along with his smile.
“They all got washed away.”
The reveal was punctuated by a sudden fit of laughter from Sephiroth.
“But I didn't get in trouble,” Glenn continued, laughing too. “I blamed it on a random bandit attack and told a story about how I valiantly fought them off, but they took the materia.”
Sephiroth doubled over with laughter, leaning back. His bubbly cries echoed throughout the ravine. His cheeks were rosy, the sunlight caught in his silver hair just as the breeze messed it up, making him look every bit the kid he was.
Glenn pinched the bridge of his nose, his shoulders shaking as he chuckled. "Now that's my biggest secret, so don't go around telling anyone, alright?"
Sephiroth's laughter faded. His demeanor shifted gradually. While he still maintained a small smile, he swung his legs over the rocky drop, looking down into the ravine.
"Don't worry. I don't have anyone.”
Glenn's heart sank, a pang of remorse gnawing at his insides.
After a few moments where they were both enveloped in a cloud of guilt—Glenn with his foot in his mouth and Sephiroth’s desire to eat his own words—Glenn mustered the courage to break the tension.
He turned his body to him fully. "You know, Sephiroth, you're such a great kid," he began, sounding as earnest as he could.
Sephiroth looked up, surprise flickering in his eyes. "I am?"
Glenn grinned. "Duh. You're the coolest kid I've ever met. You're responsible, and fun to be around, not to mention smart as hell."
Sephiroth’s reddened cheeks complimented his smile. He opened his mouth to reply, but was inside of what to say. He wasn't used to being paid any compliments—at least, none about who he was as a person.
But it didn't matter. Glenn wasn't finished. The older boy's expression turned playful as nudged Sephiroth. "So watch out, because one day you'll have a lot of people to tell my secret to, and if you do, I'll kick your ass.”
Sephiroth looked down, clearly unsure. “I don't think…ah…I don't know.”
Glenn knew. He was certain of it. "Tell you what," he said. "When you find those people—and you will—promise me you'll tell them my secret. I'll probably be too old to care anyway."
Sephiroth's gaze softened, a flicker of mischief in the tone of his subsequent hum. "Older?"
Glenn rolled his eyes and responded with a playful punch to Sephiroth's arm, the impact light but affectionate.
"Promise me,” he pressed, his gaze locking with Sephiroth's. He was dead serious.
Sephiroth's expression softened, his resolve firm as he met Glenn's gaze.
"I promise," he nodded.
Sephiroth would only come to realize Just How naive he was at that age years later. Sometimes he could hear Glenn's satisfied “I told you so” whispering to him, and Sephiroth would give anything to have heard it from him.
Years passed since that day.
Sephiroth found himself seated on that same exact cliff overlooking the ravine. The warm, late April sun bathed the landscape in a warm glow, the gentle breeze carrying with it the scents of pine and earth. Just as it had been back then.
Although there were some key differences. In his hand, Sephiroth held an unopened bottle of Kupo Pop, raspberry flavor—since the secret flavor had been discontinued long ago.
He still found no appeal in fizzy drinks, but he hoped the memory concealed within the burn would be bittersweet.
“Hey,” Genesis approached from behind with a bottle of orange soda and a small smile. "Do you want to trade? I'm not nearly as not fond of orange as you are.”
Sephiroth nodded in agreement, accepting the offer and exchanging bottles.
Genesis plopped down on his left, muttering something about the dirt sticking to his coat. The clicks and flash of a camera signaled Angeal's arrival at the rocky cliff edge.
He excitedly snapped as many shots as he could of the trees, the ravine, the waterfall, and several keepsakes of their trek up the mountain.
Sephiroth looked up. "I don't think you got enough pictures" he quipped with a teasing smile.
Angeal settled down on Sephiroth's right—side-eyeing Genesis, who began shaking his soda bottle absentmindedly.
"I can never take enough.” Angeal settled the camera around his neck. “Pictures only do so much. They don't exactly encapsulate the memory you're trying to preserve.” Angeal’s tone was thoughtful as he gazed out at the breathtaking view.
Sephiroth nodded in agreement, his gaze drifting to the horizon. "I guess it's all in the special moments.”
Genesis twisted off the cap of his bottle, only to be met with a sudden eruption of fizz. The red soda sprayed all over them, prompting a chorus of startled reactions. Genesis let out a shriek, his expression shifting rapidly from embarrassment to frustration. Angeal screamed a swear as he covered his camera. Sephiroth laughed, wiping the red drink from his face.
"Is Genesis being an idiot a special moment?" Angeal snapped.
Genesis attempted to deflect blame, his face a mix of embarrassment and indignation as he flicked a soaked lock of hair from his eyes.
"Hey, it's not my fault! Sephiroth handed me the bottle like that.”
Sephiroth narrowed his eyes, then uncapped his orange soda. "Genesis, I just watched you shake the bottle.”
“But—!”
“Don't gaslight Angeal.” Sephiroth took a swig of the drink.
Meanwhile Angeal let out a violent snort. "He thinks it's an apple juice can," Angeal chuckled, punctuating his words with a mock shaking motion with his fist. “You know? The kind you have to shake first?”
Sephiroth snorted, pulling the bottle away from his lips quickly before he spat it out.
The pair fell into a fit of laughter, leaning on each other. The moment was definitely made funnier by the way Genesis was completely drenched in the soda.
Genesis shrugged sheepishly, acknowledging his blunder with a self-deprecating grin. "Shit. Muscle memory, I suppose," he admitted, his laughter mixing with theirs.
Once the moment faded into a comfortable silence, they each became lost in their own thoughts as they savored the serenity of their surroundings. Genesis contentedly sipped the remainder of Sephiroth's orange soda, while Angeal focused his attention on capturing the beauty of the waterfall below with his camera.
Sephiroth's mind wandered, his thoughts drifting back to that day, to Glenn, to their conversation and the passion fruit soda.
He was fortunate enough to have to keep his promise.
With a sense of resolve settling over him, he broke the silence. "I need to tell you both a secret.”

(just a little note: i’ve noticed a lot of love for my peeta works and i just want to say thank you! peeta has been a character that has meant so much to me for many many years so thank you so much for supporting my work for him!!)
it was peeta’s favorite time of the day.
he watched the door of the bakery eagerly, waiting for you to walk through. his father was fixing displays while peeta worked on frosting their new cakes.
you came by every friday evening, picking up bread for your family. you were always kind to his father and you were curious about what peeta was doing, asking him questions about his cakes and his techniques. talking to you quickly became one of the highlights of his week.
and like clockwork, here you were.
“need some bread?” his father perked up, smiling at you as you walked in.
“yes, mr. mellark, thank you,” you returned the smile. “hey peeta,” you walked over to the cake counter while his father gathered your usual baked goods.
“hey,” he looked up from his cake and took in the sight of you. it was a rainy, cold day and peeta could see where the light raindrops had settled in your hair.
“that looks really beautiful,” you nodded towards the cake, commenting on the intricate flowers peeta was currently making.
“thanks, i thought you would like it,” his cheeks reddened a little bit when he realized what he said.
“well, you were right,” you were glad the cold had already made your cheeks pink so that peeta didn’t notice your reaction. “the colors are beautiful.” you continued to chat until his his father came over with your goods.
“thank you, mr. mellark. i’ll see you at school peeta,” you turned your attention back to the boy and waved goodbye.
and just like that, you were gone.
you liked the colors, peeta thought to himself. he was glad to know this little fact about you, something so simple yet something he would cherish. maybe next time he would ask why that color is your favorite or which flowers you liked the best.
but that would have to wait until next friday.

Hacketteers but what if we threw them into dragon riding school? 👀
catch me catching up on some not-quite-six sentence sat(or)sunday!
The day had been overcast from the start, heavy grey clouds obscuring the sun, but as the creature's great wings beat at the air, even nature itself took notice. Thin shafts of light, almost angelic in their radiance, shot down from between the rifts torn in the gathering storm. The world seemed to shake - or maybe just shiver - as it landed on the rocky shore, a mountain made of oil slicks, its scales shining sometimes black, sometimes green, sometimes colors none of them had names for.
Slowly, tentatively, the first of the students held his hand out, feeling an instantaneous bond as the dragon's molten eyes met his. It was in that moment, as though through telepathy, he knew its name:
"Brandomere Asskickeous VII."
***
"Jacob, you said you were going to take this seriously."
Immediately on the defensive, his hands shot up. He cast quick, friendly glances around the picnic table, meeting the other counselors' exasperated eyes with a grin with maybe just a touch too much mischief to come across as earnest. "I am! I am taking this seriously! Look man, you said we got to make our own characters, right? And I wanted to make sure my dragon was the one with the coolest, strongest name - everyone knows that's how this make-it-up crap works."
"Your idea of the coolest, strongest name for a dragon was Brandon Asskickeous?" Dylan set his chin on his hand, narrowing his eyes as he watched Jacob from across the table. "You should be studied, man. In a lab. Like, with a microscope or something."
"First of all," he cut back in, pointing with his pointer finger like some kind of pointy poindexter before someone laughed a little too loud and he decided a different finger was in order. "It was Brandomere Asskickeous the seventh, he's part of a long line of incredibly strong, incredibly powerful dragon wizards - "
From where he'd put his head down on the table, his arms wrapped around himself, Ryan groaned, "That's not a thing."
" - and second of all, I'm not sitting here judging your dragon names, so maybe, uh, what's the word I'm looking for here...oh, right, shut the hell up."
Scooching down lower in her seat, Abi gave Ryan a sympathetic pat on the shoulder. "Um, I'm not saying this to rub it in or anything, but...we did sort of say something like this would happen."
"Hey, are we gonna keep going or not?" Nick asked, his character sheet already a mess of doodles, scribbles, and hash marks. "Don't get me wrong, it's gonna be hard to top Jacob's dragon, but...I think mine might just take the cake."
"It's not a competition!" Rising up from his defeated slouch, Ryan cast an exhausted look out at their little gathering. Why had he thought this was going to be a good idea? Of all the bonding activities he could've come up with, why had a tabletop game been the choice he'd gone with? Genuinely, he couldn't remember. "The point of the game is to, y'know. Explore new worlds. Interact with cool characters. Solve puzzles. No one's dragon gets to automatically be the strongest - no matter what its name is."
Already Jacob and Nick were opening their mouths, no doubt to pick up where they'd left off, but Emma beat them to the punch. "Well I for one can't wait for you guys to meet my dragon, Daisybelle, so all in favor of us getting back to Ryan's masterful storytelling, say aye!"
Much to Jacob's chagrin, the ayes had it.
***
The air filled with a thick, oppressive heat as another dragon joined the first, immediately causing the gathered students to fan themselves as they sweat. Everywhere they looked, there was only the wavering lines of heat mirage, and the warning sizzle of raindrops not allowed to reach the ground.
At first, no one moved - no one thought they could. Such a presence would burn them alive, char them to a crisp if they ventured too close. But then, cautious but determined, a girl stepped forward and the heat dissipated like fever breaking. She set her hand on the dragon's amber snout, and again, its name formed in her mind.
"Trogdor the Burninator."
***
"KAITLYN!" The table erupted into chaos as Ryan threw his arms into the air, and while there were decidedly more groans than laughs, it sure didn't feel like any of them were on his side.
"What?" she asked, assuming the same defensive posture Jacob had before, her hands raised, her shoulders high, her face slack with fake innocence. "I thought it was a solid choice!"
Covering her mouth and nose to hide some of her snort-laughing, Emma fell against Abi's side. "What kind of name is that?!"
"Hey now, I'll have you know Trogdor is pretty much the name when it comes to dragons, okay? It's basically historical."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, see, I can tell you guys aren't dragon experts like me and Jake, so I'll let you in on the secret." Kaitlyn folded her arms on the table, then leaned in closer, widening her eyes dramatically. "Trogdor was a man. Well, he was a dragon man. ...or you know what? Maybe he was just a dragon. But he was still - "
And then, not just to Ryan's surprise but everyone's, she and Jacob popped up from their seats, whipping out what might've been fairly impressive air-guitar solos had they not been accompanied by them both shouting "TROGDOOOR!" at the top of their lungs.
Ryan put his head back on the table. He tried desperately to continue his narration.
***
Then there came a rumbling from the sea, as though some kind of -
***
"This seems like a bad time to reveal that my whole thing was going to be, like, a super edgelord version of Barney, huh?"
"Dylan. Barney's a dinosaur."
"Uh, okay, Abigail, what do you think dragons are?"
"They're...they're not dinosaurs! I...wait, are they?"
Knowing this was a battle he'd already lost, Ryan propped his head up on his hands. "Anyone else have a super hilarious dragon idea they can't wait to share?"
There was a beat of silence, and then Nick smiled sheepishly. "Uh...Toothless? From...y'know...How to Train Your Dragon?"
After another beat, Abi pulled her sketchbook up from off her lap, turning it around to reveal a startlingly gorgeous sketch of a stylized...
Wait.
"Um...mine's also...Toothless. Actually."
Emma clasped her hands together, leaning that much farther into Abi. "Oh my gosssh, you guys are so in-sync! Imagine that. Huh. You're like, dragon soulmates or something."
***
Once every student had their dragon, it came time for them to take to the skies. Only some of them, they had been warned, would survive this trial, and -

"Hey, uh, pardon me for party pooping, but...what is it exactly that you kids are doing right now? In the middle of the night? Besides eating...all of the trail mix, that is?"
There was a chorus of "Hi Mr. H!"es (and more than a few muffled giggles) as Chris came out of his office to stand by their table, arms folded and expression perplexed. No one rushed to answer him, though, which...well, that just figured, didn't it?
"We're playing a game," Abi said quickly upon realizing no one else was stepping forward. "Sorry if we were being loud."
"Trying to," Ryan corrected her, "we were trying to play a game. A TTRPG."
"Uh. Huh. Well NGL that sounds like a BFG, but FYI and JSYK, you guys GTG. To bed. It's late, and the last thing I need is you guys being all groggy-eyed for the scavenger hunt tomorrow. So quit ROFLing and GTFO, you know?" Clearly proud of himself, Chris gave a little chuckle.
"Sorry Ryan," Abi said, tucking her sketchbook back into her bag. "Maybe we'll actually, um, get to the dragon riding part next time!"
"Whoa, whoa, wait, there are dragons in your game?" Chris asked. "You mean like Trogdor?"
"Yeahhh!" Kaitlyn and Jacob cheered, giving each other a victorious high-five before cutting Chris in on that action.
There was no sugarcoating it. Ryan was devastated. "There's no way Trogdor the Burninator is a thing. There's no way it's a real thing."
"Hey, bud," Chris said, still grinning, "IYKYK. Now seriously, everybody, bed. Now."
((incredibly desperate author's note from an elderly millenial: please tell me you whippersnappers out there know trogdor omg))

next up in "the dots connect themselves" series: Paul Newman!
“Some men have a charisma that transcends orientation: Paul Newman, Idris Albra, Norm McDonald.” --Sam Obisanya S3E03
"But I think we can all agree that the Departed is not necessarily his best work. That belongs to The Color of Money!" --Ted Lasso S1E06
Tumblr media
"Janelle was added to the story to avoid sexual connotations to Eddie and Vincent’s relationship" "As The Color of Money centres on an enigmatic older man essentially seducing a younger man into a different lifestyle, there is certainly scope to interpret the film as a thinly veiled gay romance." (x)
young Ted watching color of money like “I’d let Paul newman seduce me”
Tumblr media
In the first few episodes from the second season made available for viewing, the series takes a turn toward another cinematic sports classic – “Slap Shot,” which starred Cleveland native Paul Newman. “Ooh, I love ‘Slap Shot’ and actually, just so you know,” Hunt said. “I'll be introducing to the room some notions for season three that are even more ‘Slap Shot’ specific, so stay tuned.” (x)
In his book, Paul Newman: The Man Behind The Baby Blues, he quotes Brando as saying, "He never fooled me. Paul Newman had just as many on-location affairs as the rest of us, and he was just as bisexual as I was. But, where I was always getting caught with my pants down, he managed to do it in the dark." (x)
"Thank you for your help, Trent. May a young Robert Redford portray you in a film someday." "Probably Dustin Hoffman." --Ted Lasso & Trent Crimm S3E04

"Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The uplifting lyrics describe somebody who overcomes his troubles and worries by realizing that "it won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me." (x)
which is coming in the next episode, sunflowers!
also young ted definitely watched cool hand luke with a bisexual gaze that movie is just so
Tumblr media
(Such a film might've been equally homoerotic, though; with its nearly all-male cast full of soulful, shirtless guys caked in sweat, dirt and blood, "Luke" is one of the gayest mainstream Hollywood films of the sixties, and Brando and Dean were rivals in pansexual beauty.) (x)

various miscellaneous Psychonauts doodles! some sona stuff, some stream doodles, Oleander is still there he never leaves
(alt text/image IDs under cut!)
[Image 1-2 ID: A sketch, then lineart, of the entire cast of Psychonauts 2 in a massive crowd, all holding various drinks or otherwise acting celebratory of the game's lauch. Raz is up top with a big grin, Lilli hanging off of him in a hug and Ford emerging from his ear, holding a big cake with sparklers and a "2!" candle.]
[Image 3 ID: A sleep-levitating Queepie, lifting up an entire car like it's nothing. In the background, Donatella looks on, visibly exhausted.]
[Image 4 ID: A sketch of Nona from behind, waving jauntily and walking up to a delighted Linda the Lungfish, who is waving back.]
[Image 5 ID: An Enabler caught up in a massive bright-blue explosion, upside-down in a t-pose, eyes wide, hat flying off above them.]
[Image 6 ID: A sketch of Puzz in the Psychonauts style. She has light mint-green skin with a tiny, round pink nose, uneven eyes with three lashes, tiny round brows, and curly blue hair in a bun with a single long cowlick, a pink pen and #2 pencil stuck into the bun. She is wearing pink half-frame glasses with a chain, a cream t-shirt with pink peter pan collar and sleeve hems, tiny black heeled boots, and overalls colored and patterned like the Psychonauts jumpsuit uniform. She is waving with her left hand and holding a tablet in her right.]
[Image 7 ID: A drawing of Puzz's sona and Oleander standing side by side, staring at each other. Two arrows provide a height comparison; the top of Puzz's head is about at Oleander's eyeline.]
[Image 8 ID: A two-panel comic of Oleander and Boyd. In the first, Oleander is holding up a swinging watch to hypnotize Boyd, who is standing in his pajamas with worried, swirling hypnosis eyes. Oleander, looking gruff, says, "you know, like nya"?", to which Boyd replies simply, "huh". In the second panel, it cuts closer to Oleander, who holds up a hand in a kitty-paw and clarifies, "nya". Offscreen, Boyd replies, "please god help me".]
[Image 9 ID: Three greyscale drawings of Oleander labeled "HOW TO TALK TO SHORT PEOPLE". The first drawing, labeled "YES!" with a little green checkmark, shows Milla standing normally with one hand on her hip, looking slightly down to talk to Oleander, who is gesturing with one pointer finger. The second, labeled "NO!!" with a red X shows Sasha kneeling down on one knee, holding a stack of papers in one hand as he talks to Oleander, who is visibly clenching his fists and teeth, imagining a knife. The third, labeled "WHY?! with various yellow question marks surrounding it, shows a grinning Loboto holding Oleander up with his hands under his armpits to speak with him, causing a flustered Oleander to stare back in confusion.]
[Image 10 ID: An older Raz posing with his back facing the camera, grinning as he looks over his shoulder at his new jacket. The jacket has a detailed, multi-layered design in the center of the back resembling a cloudy, mountainous landscape, with several stars surrounding the "frame" of the design. He is also wearing a tied fabric sash-slash-skirt with a raindrop design over patched-up pants and small heeled shoes, as well as his trademark and gloves. He has pigmented circles around his eyes like Augustus, more pronounced cheekbones like Nona, and a small, scruffy goatee. In the background, Helmut and Nona, surrounded by sewing supplies, are pumping their fists and high-fiving.]
[Image 11 ID: Older designs for the campers, including, from left to right, Phoebe, Quentin, Crystal, Clem, Bobby, and Chloe. Phoebe has grown up tall and has a short, natural haircut, still wearing her headphones. She is wearing extremely early 2000s fashion, namely a jacket over a short, spaghetti-strapped tank top, multiple necklaces and bracelets, a belly button piercing, low-rise flared pants, and chunky open-toed heels. She is holding her drumsticks in one hand and has a cigarette in the other. Quentin is short and stout, with shoulder-length wavy hair and a scraggly beard. He is wearing a knit beanie, a striped scarf, a long coat over a plain t-shirt, jeans with tears in the left knee, and converse sneakers. He is carrying a vinyl record sleeve under one arm. Crystal is short and plump, wearing a Whispering Rock t-shirt and tight shorts, heart-shaped earrings, and rollerblading protective gear (fingerless gloves, elbow guards and knee guards). She is posing with one leg up and making a V-sign with her left hand. Clem is also wearing a Whispering Rock tee, as well as plaid shorts, a fanny pack, sneakers and a sweatband. He has a fluffy mullet and scraggly goatee, is holding a whistle, and has one small earring. Bobby is gangly with a thin mustache and goatee, wearing an open work shirt over an AC/DC tee, with long work pants that do not cover his ankles and sneakers. He is sitting on a log smoking a cigarette and glaring at nothing in particular. Far behind him in the background is Phoebe, seen as nothing but a silhouette with glowing eyes.]
[Image 12 ID: A blue ink doodle featuring an older Raz design by Cosmignon. He has thick, wild, curly hair held back by goggles, large dark sideburns and a goatee, and is wearing a Psychonauts uniform sweater with a trench coat over it, as well as his usual gloves. He is giving a thumbs up and posing with his arms around a slightly older, smiling Milla, wearing a flowy poncho and several bracelets, waving with her left hand while her right rests on her chest. In front of them both is Oleander, wearing no helmet but his usual shirt and broach, winking and drinking out of a "#1 STEPDAD" mug while giving a thumbs up with his other hand. An arrow pointing to the three of them reads "up since 5 AM jogging & doing yoga". In the background off to the side is an older Lilli design, also by Cosmignon, built widely and with an undercut and long bangs; she is wearing a big T-shirt and boxer shorts and holding a coffee mug, looking grouchy and confused. To her right is Sasha, looking frazzled and half-asleep, wearing a robe and smoking a cigarette; behind her to her left is Loboto, in a sleep mask, t-shirt and flannel pants, still visibly asleep and only being held up by a telekinesis hand holding him by the scruff of his shirt. An arrow pointing to the three of them reads "Extremely Not That".]

Chapter 6 - “Talk About Us”
Read on FFN || Read on AO3
Start from Chapter 1
---
No rest for the wicked! Kevin (and an undead iguana) head home from the Cake 'N Bacon with Foop in tow... Maybe the anti-fairy can help with Kevin's ghost problem? Wait, forget that… Didn't Grandmama say Kevin's got a cousin running around Dimmsdale? Finding Remy is WAY more important. Check it out!
(First 1000 words under the cut)

Talk About Us
Year of Water, Spring of the Aligned Raindrops
Saturday, May 15th, 2004 - 11:44 am
---
When it comes to I've had the weirdest day, it's hard to top going to lunch with the Grim Reaper and getting handed an iguana. Granted, this wasn't Kevin's first time eating lunch with the old coot, and Foop was still begging for the details. Yeah, Kevin didn't even know where to start with that one. "He's just a long-time friend of my mom's" didn't seem to be cutting it.
Personally, Kevin didn't see what the big deal was. The Grim Reaper had a creepy aesthetic to him - you know, like Marvin and Molly - but all in all, he was just some guy. He picked up odd jobs all over Peachfield to pay off his student loans. Hearing Foop gush over him as Kevin picked at his soup (and his uncle devoured a sandwich) kind of gave him the creeps, like listening to a Kindergartener gush about the local crossing guard.
Is it really THAT weird?
Denise Quinna Crocker was a vampire lover. She volunteered often at the Peachfield nursing home and hung around the elderly. The Grim Reaper also volunteered a lot at the Peachfield nursing home, although probably for a different reason. They shared a love for all things dark, bleak, and undead. And, well… he walked around in a big brown cloak and preferred writing with a quill. Denise Crocker was going to notice that. She'd always been an extraverted woman, and her nosiness knew no bounds. Did you know the Grim Reaper has a birthday? Apparently that's a thing.
"Super lame," Foop scoffed when Kevin tried explaining this over their table at the Cake 'N Bacon. The kid took a massive bite of clam chowder, then went back to coloring spikes and pitfall traps down every path of his kiddie menu maze. "Really, Kevin… I thought you were a cool Crocker."
"Death is overhyped anyway," Kevin muttered back. He'd finished his own soup, apart from some final chunks of celery and clams. He gripped his spoon like a bungee cord and stabbed it in the bowl. You know, the explanation of how he'd come to know the Grim Reaper may have been short, but lingering in the poorly lit diner with his uncle and a little kid - not to mention a hissing iguana - felt even more distracting.
Were people whispering about them? Kevin kept glancing around, watching Vicky weave back and forth between the tables with her pitcher. Was the iguana invisible or something? No one else had reacted to it yet. Once, when Vicky turned around with her scarlet ponytail bouncing, her eyes locked on Kevin's. She scrunched her nose at him, brows drawing low. Somehow, that look sort of curdled his skin. Kevin dropped his gaze to his empty soup bowl, his heart pounding like a crushed car on a conveyor belt. His phone hung like a brick in his hand. Great. Its cold, blank screen just surfaced the reminder that
Can we go yet?
The Cake 'N Bacon's clam chowder did taste delicious. It lifted Kevin's spirits a bit from the slump they'd plunged into after he was denied a visit to the Buxaplenty place, but it definitely didn't fill his stomach. He made a mental note to order a sandwich alongside the soup if he ended up eating here again, but he was more than ready to leave once their bill was paid. His skin itched like mad. He kind of wanted to wash his hands and splash his face just to shake off some of the general weirdness of the day, but he'd already used the bathroom once since they got here and he was pretty sure the waitresses would stare if he squeezed past them to go again.
At last, Uncle Denzel stood and shooed Foop off the other end of their booth. He said he had to swing by the Dimmsdale pet store to get iguana food and that he'd need to use the bathroom too before he left, so Kevin offered to walk home by himself. "I want to see more of Dimmsdale," he told his uncle, staring up with the widest blue eyes he could manage, and his uncle bought the lie.
In truth? Anything, even walking around the California outdoors on a hot day like this one, had to be better than another reckless drive in the back of the Unsuspecting Van.
"I'll go with you," Foop chirped, grabbing his crayons and menu from the table. Once they were in his hands, he vaporized both in a small puff of smoke. Kevin blinked tiredly at him, but didn't dare voice a complaint.
"Sure, let's go with that. I've never really talked with an anti-fairy before, except when you showed up on the doorstep this morning. This could be a great learning experience for me. I mean, I am supposed to be studying abroad for a semester. Maybe I can write a paper on anti-fairies for extra credit."
"You cannot!" came Uncle Denzel's cheerful voice. He rustled Kevin's hair with his big hand before scooting past him to the bathroom. "Oh! Kevin, take that sorry excuse for a lap dragon back home with you when you go. I've got errands to run and a tiny bladder to hold me over. You'll probably beat me there!"
Uhh…
So this was an interesting predicament. Kevin eyed the iguana, who'd shoved its face in Foop's soup bowl and started munching on the last traces of clams. That so-called "sorry excuse for a lap dragon" was still an oversized, shimmery green iguana with a crest like a rooster's and a big throat pouch now dripping with specks of soup. Its long toes ended in creepy, curled talons. Its yellow eyes rolled in its head.
Kevin glanced down at Foop, who stood stiffly beside him in his childish human disguise. He could almost pass as a normal kid, you know… if it weren't for the mustache, goatee, and wide lavender eyes. Those eyes blinked nervously up at Kevin. Apparently, Foop considered touching reptiles to be outside his job description as "Uncle Denzel's best friend" and Kevin really didn't blame him. Even if it sucked.

National Find a Rainbow Day
Go on a rainbow-hunt, make some rainbow crafts, or simply read about the science and discovery of the beautiful arc that represents so many different things.
Perhaps one of the more interesting and yet lesser-known holidays is an event that is affectionately known as Find a Rainbow Day. As the reader may have already guessed, this celebration occurs during the month of April each year –after all, the early spring is known for its fair share of these beautifully stunning phenomena of refracted light!.
Of course, finding a rainbow is not as easy as it may sound but, if a person is lucky enough to find themselves outside just after a rainstorm in early April, it may just be possible to catch a quick glimpse and even take a snapshot of one of these wonderful natural events. With some extra luck, it may even be possible to spot a double rainbow!
So, in this case, it appears that there are indeed times when a bit of rain is not necessarily a bad thing!
History of Find a Rainbow Day
The science behind rainbows was recorded in 1693. This is when scientists realized that rainbows are caused by light from the sun bending in such a way from the raindrops that it causes a rainbow.
Throughout human history, rainbows have often been a sign of hope and wellness. And, of course, many people know the legend that if one is ever able to find the bottom of the rainbow, they might also find a leprechaun’s pot of gold waiting for them! This legend originates from Ireland and stories of leprechauns have been around since as far back as the 8th century.
While finding the bottom of a rainbow might not actually be possible in terms of science, it’s still a fun legend and story for kids, as well as adults who are kids-at-heart. And a great way to celebrate Find a Rainbow Day!
How to Celebrate Find a Rainbow Day
Quite a few ways to celebrate Find a Rainbow Day can be imagined. It might be fun to grab some friends and try to find a rainbow, although this activity may be dependent on the weather. While rain isn’t usually the kind of weather people prefer, when it comes to Find a Rainbow Day, it sure is!
Host a Rainbow Themed Party
Have some friends over to make rainbow crafts and treats, or decorate the house with all things rainbow-like. Don’t forget to serve rainbow-themed foods. If baking rainbow foods at home isn’t appealing, then colorful candy-like M&M’s or Skittles can be a great snack. On the healthier side, a rainbow-colored tray of fruits and veggies can be a simple, tasty treat that guests will love.
To make a rainbow-themed party even better, have every friend dress in clothes of a different color of the rainbow. Then, line up in color order and take an instant photo that everyone can use to remember the party with!
Make a Rainbow Treat in the Kitchen
Many people enjoy cooking colorful foods on this day; treats such as jello and cookies might be some of the most common items.
When it comes to rainbows and baking, food coloring can be a great friend. When baking foods like cookies or cakes, food coloring is the easiest way to bring bright, rainbow colors to the baked dessert.
Some other options for making rainbow-themed foods come from more natural ways to color baked goods. Many powdered forms of fruits or vegetables can be purchased at health food stores (like powdered carrot for orange, or strawberry for pink). However, unlike using commercial food coloring, it is important to note that these types of coloring can change the flavor slightly.
Make Projects with Rainbows
Making crafts related to rainbows can be simple or complicated, depending on the type of project chosen. Use some colored paper to cut out and glue together the pieces of a rainbow. Or grab some colored markers to draw fun and easy rainbows on white paper.
Stained glass window kits can be purchased at craft stores for making a rainbow to hang in the sunshine. Or, for those who are really invested in the day, knitting or crocheting a rainbow scarf or socks with many colors of yarn can also be a clever way to bring rainbows into the day!
Watch Reading Rainbow
A classic show for children of the 80’s and 90’s, Reading Rainbow aired new shows on public television in the United States from 1983 until 1999. Plus, the old episodes were then shown as reruns for another ten years. Now, they can easily be located through various sources online.
This show, hosted by LeVar Burton, was meant to encourage children to read. Every episode focused on a specific topic from a chosen children’s book for that episode, and also recommended new books for children to check out from the library. For some people, watching old episodes of the Reading Rainbow might be a fun activity to bring some nostalgia and, for rainbow lovers, it could be a cool way to see what their parents may have watched when they were children!
Look for Four Leaf Clovers
Finding the end of a rainbow might not be possible and, even if it was, there’s no way to keep it as a souvenir! But finding a four-leaf clover might be a bit more feasible. It can be a fun little souvenir denoting the search for rainbows, and might even bring some good luck. At the very least, it will provide memories of rainbow-hunting on Find a Rainbow Day.
