An Ontario court has dismissed the province's attempt to appeal a court order that temporarily stopped it from ripping up three major Toronto bike lanes. Cycling advocates say the court's decision is a victory, and means Ontario can't remove the bike lanes until a judge has had the chance to rule on a Charter challenge. A spokesperson for Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria suggested that some work, however, will go on.

Falling in love with a city silenced by the snowstorm, Hamilton, Ontario

I moved to Ontario a month ago, just before we were hit by 2 snowstorms in a week, and coming from the Paris region I had never seen a city so completely buried by snow !

I walked downtown struggling not to fall, seeing almost no one around, but feeling a deep sense of both peace and excitement 🤍 this is a new aspect of my life

Since the Ontario government took over the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) two weeks ago, elected trustee Matias de Dovitiis says he's only received two emails with directions from his province-appointed supervisor. One of those directions was to refrain from communicating with the community members who elected him, de Dovitiis, who represents Humber River-Black Creek, said at a news conference Thursday. "To think that we can take away those 22 community voices … and just put out a 1-800 number and have people be able to navigate this massive institution is just not realistic," he said.
