when you want to feel sultry, sexy, and dominant. you may want to go for a boozy perfume. smelling them feels like sipping an expensive cognac at an upscale restaurant. but they can also be the life of the party, fitting for those who've spent liquor soaked nights dancing the night away.
the interesting thing about these, is that they tend to be masculine, or at least marketed that way. very few boozy fragranes are marketed towards women.
despite the name, a boozy fragrance doesn't need an alcohol note, it can be a certain amount of vanilla, plum notes, dried fruit and oak. these are things normally seen in the creation and fermentation of alcohol. but alcohol notes an be deep and rich like cognac, brandy and rum, or they can be bright and fizzy like champagne.
jazz club lives up to its name, as it's very evocative of the sultry nature of the titular place. it's a smoky rum scent that settles beautifully on the skin as long as you don't overspray, its a true unisex in my opinion
there's a review of plum in cognac that goes along like lines of "i fell like i came home one night and got drunk off of this" and that's the best way to describe it. a jammy, plummy, boozy scent that's so intoxicating you'll get tipsy off one sniff.
one of the few of the fragrances in elizabeth & james nirvana line that still exists. nirvana bourbon is a smooth, potent whiskey. i wore this on many drunk nights out before gifting it to my mom bc i got blackout while wearing it. despite that it's beautiful, it has a slight spice to it and it's almost the the barrel the whiskey was aged in.
lets make things lighter with lolita lempicka's oh ma biche. this is an effervescent, sparkling citrus. it's a sparkling belini-champagne cocktail. this more marie antoinettes champagne tower. its fruity and festive and fun.
franck boclet vinyl is a boozy whiskey cola. filled with richness and depth, it's equally playful and sexy. a leather jacket over a tight mini dress. there's a dark chocolate underneath that makes it a little sweet.
wet cherry liquor is a dirty shirley in a bottle. the best boozy cherry if not the best cherry you'll ever smell. she's the party girl, the backstage bambi getting in with all the rockstars. they write songs about her liquor cherry sent.
cherry amaretto is a sweet, syrupy scent. more of a spiked cherry punch than a cherry wine. you'll either love or hate this.
this is an earthy boozy scent. bourbon brewed in an old shack thats been passed down through generations. you use it for both rituals and pleasure.
1697 by frapin is a masterclass in boozy scents, and given this is crated by a rum/cognac brand. it's a spiced rum and many pick out a chocolate note, like a spiced boozy chocolate drink. it opens dry before settling into something warmer.
ending with a classic, kilian angels' share is the perfume you think of when it comes to boozy scents. it smells like you poured a bottle of cognac. there's a welcoming sweetness to it and it has an apple-like undercurrent that makes it feminine enough to not be intimidating.

trans!soap going on a mission with the reader who keeps praising him (good boy, nice work, well done, etc) and he gets so needy that he ends up begging to be fucked afterwards? 👀
radio waves
Trans!John “Soap” MacTavish x Male Reader Warnings: NSFW, I didn’t intend for this to get this long, mentions of reader & Soap killing people, teasing, praise kink, brief fingering, fucking. Note: I did try and proofread this but I’m tired and wanted to get this out, so let me know if anything doesn’t make sense!
It’s a dangerous game sending you and Soap out on missions alone together - you’re efficient, reliable, a rock solid team, if what you spout to one another over the comm channel is ignored.
After a mission where Gaz accompanied the two of you he swore never again, stating it was like “third wheeling on the world’s most fucked up date.” Price turns a blind eye to it, you got results and always returned with only minor injuries, that was enough justification to keep sending you out together.
This time it was a simple clear and sweep, you were perched up high on overwatch, firmly tucked behind your sniper scope, taking care of any stragglers and making sure no one snuck up behind Soap as he moved from building to building, taking out enemy combatants as he came across them.
He lived up to his call sign, clearing each building easily, putting on a masterclass of all his abilities. You watched as he stepped out of a door, pausing to lift his hand to his radio, and his voice soon filtered through. “All clear, moving to the next one.”
You clicked yours on in time for Soap to hear your acknowledging hum, “Nice work Johnny.” Your praise did something to him, a faint shiver rattling down his spine. He concealed it well, body barely shifting on its spot as he felt arousal stirring in the pit of his gut.
He murmured a quick “Thanks,” before he was off again, this time crossing the run down street to another building, until your voice broke through the temporary silence.
“Two coming up ahead of you Soap. I’ll take left, you take right.” You watched as he ducked behind some nearby cover, radio clicking to life once he was settled.
“Copy.” It was quick, quiet, all the confirmation you needed.
“On my count. 3… 2… 1… now.” With a simple pull of the trigger you watched as both bodies dropped simultaneously, waiting for a few seconds to make sure nobody heard. When only silence remained you spoke again, “Good boy.”
Soap’s face begins to heat up, a warmth spreading throughout his entire body at your words, and he wonders if you’re doing it on purpose. He doesn’t respond this time, waiting for you to clear him to move again.
He ducks into another building, the last one, and just as effectively as the previous ones he’s stepping out a few minutes later, speaking into his radio. “All clear, heading back to the hideout.” Adrenaline and arousal mixed to create a fucked up cocktail in his gut, and Soap was soaked between his thighs.
“Copy. Nice work Soap, heading back as well. I’ll see you in a few minutes.” He struggled to contain the whine in the back of his throat, a few minutes was too long, his feet carrying him faster than needed back to relative safety.
He arrived first, calling for exfil before placing his weapons down as he impatiently waited for you. He paced, too amped up to sit still, his mind wandering at your praise.
His fingers unconsciously drifted down his chest and down his pants, breathy moans slipping from his mouth as he teased his folds, already too far to resist the temptation to not go any further. He pushed two fingers inside, cunt slick enough to easily accept them. His hips bucked as he curled them, desperately seeking friction, but they weren’t enough, he still felt empty, needed your voice purring honeyed words in his ears.
Just as he was contemplating slipping a third one inside your voice came through on his nearby radio. “Approaching now Johnny.”
He withdrew his fingers, hastily wiping them on his shirt, and you’d barely shut the door before Soap was on you, crowding you against it. “You bastard, you were doing it on purpose weren’t you?”
You blinked at him, confusion settling in your eyes. “Doing what?”
“Everything you were saying, trying to get under my skin.” His breathing had picked up, his face flush, and he was standing so close you could feel him pressing against your bulky tac vest.
Reality hit you, and Soap exhaled as you leaned your sniper up against the wall and raised your hand to cup his cheek, Soap already nuzzling into the contact. “Is that it? A few words got you all worked up?”
He nods, peering at you with blue eyes almost swallowed by his blown pupils. “Need you to fuck me.”
“How far out is exfil?” You questioned, the rational part of your brain fighting against your desire to turn him around and bend him over.
It took Soap a few moments to think, brain struggling to come up with a response other than ‘it doesn’t matter.’ “We have to leave in 30 minutes.”
You tsked, thumb swiping across his bottom lip and pulling it down. “I don’t think that’s enough time baby.” With how worked up he was you doubted Soap would be happy with just once or twice, always wanting more when he gets this desperate, and if you showed up to exfil late, with a Soap who could barely stand, you doubt Price would be happy with either of you.
He shakes his head, eyes glossy and wide, pleading. “I can’t wait, I need you to fuck me.” He takes your hand by the wrist, pulling it down until it’s in his pants and you’re cupping his cunt through his boxers, able to feel the large damp spot that’s formed. His breathy sigh makes your cock twitch, and you know you’re fighting a losing battle.
Bastard has you wrapped around his finger.
He moans when you press your fingers against his clothed pussy, forehead falling to rest against you. “You that desperate? Need me to fuck you?”
Soap nods this time, mouth parting in a gasp when you move your hand under the final layer of his boxers, fingers ghosting against his puffy clit as they travel down until you sink two inside. “So wet for me already Johnny.”
He whines against you, hips trying to roll with your movements as you slowly pull your fingers out, just to push them back in at the same pace. “Please, please, need your cock.”
You’re already short on time, that deadline gradually creeping up on you, so in one final motion you make a show of withdrawing your fingers and placing them in your mouth, suckling his arousal off them only to hear Soap swallowing heavily, his hands tightening in their grip on your arms. Once they’re sufficiently clean you pop them out of your mouth and place your hands on Soap’s hips, walking him backwards to the nearest flat surface.
Spinning him around you push at his back until his top half is lying flat, wasting little time in pulling his pants and boxers down to mid-thigh. You groan at what you see, his pussy and inner thighs shining, and Soap whimpers when you use your thumb to spread him open, watching as his hole clenches around nothing.
His breath hitches when he hears the clanking of your belt unbuckling, and you take the time to spit on your hand and give your hard cock a few pumps, spreading the makeshift lube over your shaft. With one hand on the small of his back you hold Soap in place, stopping his attempts to slam back against you as soon as he feels your cock against his folds.
Gradually you push forward, groaning in sync with each other as his cunt parts for your cock, gummy walls sucking you in. Inch by inch you push inside, all movement coming to a stop when you bottom out, Soap’s tight heat pulsing around you as he starts to fight against your hold, impatience resurfacing. “Please move,” he begs, body moving in search of any friction.
One hand smooths through his mohawk, attempting to steady him. “I will baby, just be patient.” Slowly you pull your hips back, withdrawing until just your head is inside and then pushing forward, Soap keening as his pussy stretches around you. “That’s it, good boy.”
He moans, back arching as he falls onto his forearms, attempting to support himself. You lean over him as best you can in your bulky gear, pressing yourself into his back so you can kiss at his neck, purring praises into his ear. “Always feel so good around me Johnny, shit.” You start to pick up your pace once he’s adjusted, the room filling with the sounds of wet smacking as your skin connects with his.
“Fuck fuck fuck,” he chants, pussy clenching around you at feeling so full, feeling you press deep inside with each thrust. Soap lets out a wail of pleasure as you adjust your stance, pushing yourself up slightly to plant your hands either side of his head, hips snapping into his roughly, the new angle letting you fuck into him harsher, deeper.
“Christ Johnny, got me feeling close already.” Your orgasm was approaching faster than usual, maybe praising Soap had more of an effect on you than you thought.
He vigorously nods, words tumbling out quick, stuttered. “M-me too, clo… close.” The fire in his belly is fully ablaze, threatening to explode any second, and when you reach around with one hand, rubbing tight circles on his clit, his legs almost give out underneath him.
“Doin’ so good for me Johnny, always so good, so perfect.” You mindlessly babble, taking full advantage of the effects your words have on him.
Soap cums with a hoarse cry, your cock bullying the bundle of nerves inside enough to tip him over the edge. A burst of slick gushes out around your cock, splashing against your thighs as his body trembles, sparks of pleasure shooting through his veins. The rhythmic tensing of his cunt is almost enough to pull you over the edge as well, your thrusts growing sloppy and frantic as you chase your high. You have just enough awareness to remind yourself to not cum inside.
Soap becomes painfully aware of how empty he feels as you hastily pull out, furiously pumping your cock with your hand until you’re cresting the edge, cumming over his lower back and painting his skin with ropes of white. He whines in place, still attempting to rock back against you as your cock twitches, milking yourself dry above him. “Fuck, fuck, I’ll cum in you next time, I promise,” you groan, tugging yourself into near overstimulation as you empty your balls.
He turns his head, eyes blown and filled with confusion. As the waves of pleasure wash away you see him looking at you for an explanation - Soap prefers it when you cum inside, you do too, but with little time left until exfil and a lengthy flight ahead of you, you’d rather face his complaints now then when you’re stuck on a plane and he can feel your cum slowly trickling out between his legs, unable to do anything about it.
You explain as such to him, and despite Soap knowing you’re right he still finds himself disappointed, remaining in place as you tuck yourself back in and clean away the cum with a wipe you had tucked away, it wasn’t its intended purpose but it’ll do. Pulling down his shirt Soap leans back up, groaning in discomfort as his body feels the strain of being stuck in one position for so long. He redresses as well, straightening his clothes out and making himself look as if he hasn’t just been fucked during a mission.
The high of adrenaline and his orgasm fizzles away, and you find yourself drifting towards him. He turns to face you, eyes soft and you lean in, capturing his lips in a much gentler kiss, this one slow, calm, one filled with the unsaid ‘I’m glad you’re ok.’
You’d rather do anything else than pull away, but with those 30 minutes almost up you do, breaking the kiss and trying your best to ignore the whine of discontent Soap emits. Lightly chuckling, you press one more kiss against his lips, “We can continue when we get back to base.”
Soap sighs, a teasing smile appearing across his mouth. “I’ll hold you to that.”

It appears that SH invited a group of bloggers to experience their drinks. They organised a mini "masterclass" at the hotel, featuring an interactive space where participants could learn how to mix whisky and gin for cocktails.
It would have been beneficial if the bloggers had some prior knowledge about alcoholic beverages to share, rather than focusing solely on drinking cocktails. This group (mostly women) seems more interested in covering events than in SH's drinks 🙄

Watermelon Sugar
Sydney was jamming with Tina on a Sunday evening, while the restaurant was closed and the summer was raging outside. They were locked in that kitchen for hours, AC at 68° and just letting their creative juices flow.
Syd loved anything and anyone who brought out the teacher in her, she loved Tina, and Tina loved Sydney and the molecular gastronomy masterclass she was giving her.
They were both giving some love to the Gariguette variety, which Syd said tasted a lot like Alpine strawberries and at some point, when Tina nailed the strawberry foam she was working on, following Syd's instructions to the T, she burst into song:
Tastes like strawberries on a summer evenin' And it sounds just like a song I want more berries and that summer feelin' It's so wonderful and warm
Syd's jaw dropped. "Mr. Styles! Way to go, T!"
"Yes, ma'am. Raising a Gen Zer has its perks, you know..."
Tina kept going and this time Syd sang along:
Watermelon sugar high Watermelon sugar high Watermelon sugar high Watermelon sugar high Watermelon sugar!
They even started dancing a little bit and all.
About 2 hours later they called it a day not before sharing all their creations in the group chat.
The one that got the most praise was the watermelon tequila cocktail Tina had come up with to end the masterclass on a high:
She actually named it: "Watermelon Sugar High" and made a point of clarifying that the alcohol-free version of it was delish too because she knew Natalie was still breastfeeding.
Syd totally backed that up by saying that she had tasted both versions and both were indeed delicious.
The only one who hadn't chimed in the chat was Carmy. As usual.
What no one knew at that point was that he was too busy apologizing to Claire across town, and flopping at it, hard.
A casual conversation that started at the same store where they once ran into each other after years of not even ranking within the top 100 on their respective minds and where Carmy had trouble remembering her name before giving her a fake number to cut her off, once again, quickly turned into a forced apology that he could barely voice out. But after trying extra hard he was able to finish the sentence:
"I-I...um... I'm so sorry, Claire. I didn't mean to end things like that. And I was ashamed about how I-I just let things..."
"It's OK, Carmy. Don't even bother."
"No, no, I-I-...I want to-"
"Really, no need. I'm OK. I just-I- I really gotta run now, take care."
Every part of Claire was yearning for Carmy to try to stop her when she turned around and started walking away, and he did. She smiled on the inside. She got him.
He grabbed her arm, firmly, without hurting her, but not letting go. She slowly turned around, not looking at him and holding her breath. Her eyes were glued to his strong hand, that held her arm tightly, and she found his tattoos fascinating, as she always had. Old feelings of lust crept up on her, and for a fleeting moment, she remembered how those hands felt on her skin back when she thought they actually had a fair chance to be happy together. Not that long ago, actually. But it felt like an eternity ago.
"Claire, I am sorry. Really, you have to believe me. I never meant to-to hurt you."
Those words ignited a fire in her that she hadn't felt in a while, a fire fueled by anger.
"So you're sorry about the result of what you did, not about what you did, which means you'd do it again if given the chance. Geez! Thanks, Carmen. I really appreciate it. Now can you please let me fucking go?!?!?"
He hadn't thought about it that way but turns out she was right. He was definitely not sorry about what he did and would definitely do it all over again, with only 3 differences: First, he would not stand Sydney up in Kasama to help Claire move shit, second he wouldn't have given Claire the wrong number, because after re-playing that sequence in his head over and over for months, he had come to the conclusion that not giving her his number at all would have been the best way to go and would have prevented the shitstorm from breaking altogether. And lastly, he would have let her go, that same night they first ran into each other, he wouldn't have attempted to engage in any sort of small talk, he would have let her go. That's what he would have and should have done.
She must have seen the realization that was hitting him, like a ton of bricks, all over his face because she started crying, broke free from his grip, and got the hell out of that store. Again, she was hoping he would chase her and not let her go. Every tear was a calculated effort to that end.
Carmy didn't say a word to refute her and just stood there. Petrified. Now he not only knew exactly what he was sorry for and what he was actually at peace with, he also knew why he felt that way about all those things and why he didn't feel in any other way.
He walked home melting the fuck down with every step he took and reflecting on how he should have thought about all of that sooner. And also on how much of a monumental fucking idiot he was.
At that point, he finally checked his phone only to find the group chat exploding with compliments and emojis directed at Tina.
He saw the picture of the cocktail she created and literally started salivating. He needed nothing more than that icy watermelon drink, with extra tequila.
"How can I get some of that, T?"
Richie was the first one to reply "Who the fuck are you and what the fuck have you done with Carmy?"
Carmy: "WTF"
Richie: "We all know he doesn't text back and he sure as hell never checks the group chat. Who the fuck are you?!"
Carmy: "Ha ha. Very funny, never quit your day job, Richie."
That's when T cut in and said that she had let Syd take the leftover tequila mix home because she didn't want to entice her son with it.
Syd: "Yep, I took one for the team because Tina's boy is a minor and is not allowed to drink."
Richie: "How thoughtful of you."
Syd: "IKR?"
Carmy showed up at Syd's place and she could not believe it was him when she buzzed him in.
But there he was standing right in front of her, Carmen Berzatto, the one and only, asking:
"Do you still have some of that watermelon stuff?"
"Sure do... C'mon in."
And so he did as he awkwardly smiled at her and she disappeared into the kitchen to start fixing the drinks.
Carmy followed her and offered to help her but she refused.
"Make yourself comfortable, I got this."
"K. Sure..."
Taking the hint, he left the kitchen and made his way back to the living room, finding a spot on her couch and fixating his eyes on the chair right in front of it that substituted the coffee table, which simply wasn't part of the landscape.
"Sorry, I have no tables yet. Getting there."
"Oh, no problem at all. Actually, I have a spare table that I think-"
"Thanks, but nope. I already ordered mine. Should be here by next week."
"Oh, ok."
"Here, let me show you. You're gonna love it, it's Italian but looks like Nordic."
Syd put the drinks on the chair and took her phone to show him the picture of the coffee table she ordered that was basically a geometric design with a top disc that rested on a base composed of 2 symmetrically superimposed truncated cones and that could be elevated by turning the top, which was hinged on the central-screw trunk of the base, allowing the top disc to be isometrically lowered and elevated at will, to make it more comfortable for other uses.
Syd's eyes sparkled as she described her new coffee table to Carmy and the excitement in her voice was like music to his ears. He needed that.
The short conversation he had had with Claire at the store, had left a bitter aftertaste in his mouth, but also a much clearer picture in his mind of what he needed to do with his life and what he had been screwing up with lately. Well, for a while now, he admitted.
Carmy was more sure than ever before about his motivation. He had always known that everything he did, he did it for Syd and for Michael. But he had never thought about why Syd meant so much to him. Well, never was too strong of a word. It did cross his mind but only briefly, during and after a couple of panic attacks. He had to sweep all that under the rug to keep going and he did and after doing that he never let himself go there again. He couldn't function at the level he needed to if he did, so that was not an option for him. Not to mention how positive he was about Syd surely not being on the same page, so what was the point anyway? However, Claire hit a nerve when she said that he was not sorry about what he did and that he would do it again. Because he would. He would go to hell and back for Syd a thousand times if he had to. And he had been thinking about that all the way to her place.
He had to see her, so he basically invited himself over when Tina said that the watermelon sugar potion was in Syd's possession.
They talked and talked and one thing led to the other and they started cooking.
And he was absolutely aware by the time she bent over to put those short ribs in the oven, that what they had been talking about when they came up with that recipe, felt a lot like foreplay to him. Maybe it was the watermelon drink talking in his head, and telling him to grab her by the waist, make her turn around, and kiss her with all he had and more but he couldn't stop thinking about that.
When she took the ribs out of the oven and closed her eyes saying "Mmmmm, smells sooo fucking good!" Carmy couldn't help but wish she breathed him in like that.
He wanted to taste her more than he wanted to taste those short ribs. Again, maybe it was the watermelon sugar high, but he kept thinking about how he'd kill to know how she tasted.
And later that night he sure did. He feasted on her.
And after that, Carmy just didn't know how could he have ever gone without that.
A/N: Obs this fic is inspired by the song, which I love and it just made me think about how funny it'd be to make a Sydcarmy love potion out of watermelon sugar. LOL! I also wanted to write a little bit about Tina, whom I think is a very underutilized character on the show. I have the feeling that when Storer starts writing her character in more scenes, those scenes will definitely be Sydcarmy scenes. Tina is one of the captains of the Sydcarmy troupe, we just haven't been shown that yet, but it's gonna happen, chefs. Let's just be patient. In the meantime, having her kickstart this Sydcarmy fic, just felt right to me. The dividers are by @animatedglittergraphics-n-more and the picture of the watermelon drinks is from Big Flavors from a tiny kitchen. Enjoy! (and cheers!)
Thanks for reading 💋

"SKINCARE" - Movie Review
A luminous Elizabeth Banks leads this deliciously pretty thriller as Hope Goldman, a Los Angeles facialist whose desperation seeps through her perfectly applied foundation like last night's retinol. Based on true events (because reality is always stranger than fiction in L.A.), the film follows Hope's descent into paranoia when a rival beautician, Angel (Luis Gerardo Méndez), sets up shop across the mall.
What begins as professional territorialism escalates into a twisted game of coiffed cat and moussed mouse, complete with slashed tires and identity theft that puts Hope's face on some rather unsavory websites. The arrival of the mysteriously smooth Jordan (Lewis Pullman) adds another layer of intrigue – and potentially toxic ingredients – to this beauty-world cocktail.
Director Austin Peters may not quite achieve Coen Brothers-level mastery, but he concocts an engaging blend of cringe comedy and true tension. The film fits neatly into the emerging "beauty horror" subgenre, though it's more grounded than its gorier cousin "The Substance." Banks delivers a masterclass in barely-concealed desperation, her character's professional smile cracking like week-old foundation.
Michaela Jaé Rodriguez shines as Hope's put-upon assistant Marine, while Méndez's karaoke-loving Angel proves that sometimes the most suspicious character isn't necessarily the villain – or is he? The plot twists are as unexpected as a breakout after a chemical peel, and twice as shocking.
"Skincare" works best when it leans into its absurdist elements while maintaining just enough realism to keep us invested. It's a fascinating examination of beauty industry politics that manages to be both entertaining and unsettling – rather like that $300 serum that promises to make you look 21 forever.

World Gin Day
Distilled from Juniper berries, gin is one of the sweetest, most subtly flavored liquors. Have a martini, gin and tonic, negroni, or any other gin cocktail.
Distilled spirits have been with us for a very long time, and all of them have rich histories covering the sometimes mysterious origins of their use. While spirits have long been used medicinally, only one started as a medicine and then became a mixer for one of the most important medicines in history. This delicious, smooth drink is distilled from the berries of the Juniper tree and can trace its origins back to an older drink from Denmark known as Jenever.
History of Gin Day
Gin Day was established by England’s own connoisseur of the juniper-based drink, the Gin Monkey. Emma, the titular Gin Monkey, has been a huge fan of cocktails of all kinds and has worked throughout the Newcastle, London, and Leeds area in multiple cocktail bars. Taking this experience to the streets she created her Gin Monkey site, put together with the intent of saving intrepid bar-hoppers from finding the worst of the alcohol joints at their destination.
After having had an incredibly hard time finding anything worth drinking when she first arrived in London, she decided someone had to solve this problem for other travelers, and it might as well be her. Since then she’s taken a dedicated role in providing independent and impartial views of the gin joints in her area… well, they serve more than gin, but one is allowed to have a favorite, wouldn’t you say?
But gin has had a noble history as a medicine as well, or rather, as a way to make medicine more palatable. Quinine is the distillation of the ground bark of the cinchona tree, which produced a tonic that was capable of treating malaria. Unfortunately, the quinine was incredibly bitter, and gin was used to cut it. The flavor caught on, and to this day, the tonic in the Gin and Tonic contains the slightest bit of quinine to capture the flavor of the original.
The history of World Fin Day itself began in 2009, following the efforts of an avid gin connoisseur, Neil Houston. He was already a massive fan of gin, but wanted to find a way to bring the drink to more people so that they could enjoy it. At the time, it looked as if other spirits might supersede gin. So he and the “Gin Monkey” Emma Stokes, teamed up to launch the first World Gin Day in Birmingham as a way to popularize a gin bar. In 2010, they launched a similar event in London and have been celebrating this juniper-based beverage like clockwork ever since.
World Gin Day started as a tiny event in 2009, but it has since grown to enormous proportions. In the last few years, things have really taken off. At the last count, the organizers reached more than 200 million social media users and ran events in more than 30 countries.
Those in charge now put on a vast range of events – everything from tasting to lectures on the drink’s origins. Prominent figures associated with the day run masterclasses, too, where participants learn how to make drinks. And there are even professional courses where bartenders can up their game.
How to celebrate Gin Day
Celebrating Gin Day is best done by diving straight in and experimenting with some of the drinks that gin has made amazing. Take a look at Buzzfeed for a list of drinks that are out of this world, and don’t forget to check in with the Gin Monkey to get the updated list of the best places in the world to have a smashingly good cocktail! Gin Day is the best day (other than yesterday and tomorrow) to have a nice Gin Cocktail!
The best way to celebrate gin day is to travel to one of the original gin bars and try a range of mixers and cocktails. Some of the best establishments offer “house drinks” with a unique twist you can’t get anywhere else. While the classic drink is gin and tonic, there are now a host of variations that you can try.
If you don’t want to travel, you can check to see whether anybody is organizing a World Gin Day-related event in your local community. Local gin companies will often arrange street parties where people can show up and sample local beverages made in their area. Many of these events also provide food and even opportunities to improve your cocktail-making skills.
The organizers of the event have expanded their activities all over the world. You can attend taste-testing sessions, gin-related treasure hunts, pop-up markets focusing on gin, and garden parties. Just look for what’s going on in your local area by visiting the official World Gin Day website.
Finally, you can also experiment with making your own gin beverages at home. There are dozens of recipes out there, both traditional and modern, that you can try to emulate. Red Lake, for instance, is a gin drink made of 1.5 oz Monkey 47 Gin, raspberry syrup, and lime juice. Likewise, Feeling Blue is a cocktail that uses 2 oz gin mixed with lemon juice, grapefruit bitters, tonic water, and dry Vermouth.
Gin is one of the most important liquors in the world and the basis for some of our most beautiful drinks. Just like wine, it is possible to become a connoisseur and learn the different tastes and subtle notes from each producer.
Just remember to celebrate World Gin Day responsibly. Aim for merriment, not inebriation!

Level Up Barcade with Ian Malik @ianmaliks
With a childhood spent flitting from hobby to hobby and never really perfecting one it wasn't all that surprising that when it came to video games she tended to fail miserably. But undeterred by the seemingly endless 'Game Over' screens that had flashed up at her, what she lacked in skill she made up for in pure enthusiasm. So when she did manage to finally claim a win ( pure luck, she had no idea what she had done ) hands were thrown in the air, turning towards Ian with a wide grin. She was never slow to play cheerleader for others but already two fruity cocktails in the buzz from them coupled with her fluke win was enough to get her celebrating herself. "Did you see that? Raw skill right there - some might even call it a masterclass." Laughter bubbled up in both excitement at in acknowledgement of the farfetched nature of her statement as eyes drifted to her now empty glass. "I think this calls for another, to toast to my success."

The Twisted series: Twisted Lies #4
Author: Ana Huang
Genre: Romance, New Adult
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5.
Spice: 🌶🌶
Goodreads rating: 4.2/5
Pages: 560
Published: 30 June 2022
Twisted Lies Review
Note: This book is intended for mature audiences over the age of 18 due to explicit content (steamy chapters).
Ana Huang is back, and she's twisting our emotions yet again! ‘Twisted Lies’, contrary to its name, unfolds a narrative with genuine emotional gravity. And yes, it’s also peppered with some sizzling spicy scenes. Let’s just say, if you need to know when things start to really heat up, flip to chapter 19.
This lengthy book, boasting 56 chapters, is the longest of the "Twisted" series. And in these chapters, we dive into the dual perspectives of Stella and Christian, a combination so fiery and contrasting that I’m surprised the pages didn’t combust. Stella's a social media influencer and a certified introvert. You know, the type that would choose a cozy night with Netflix over a bustling party? And then there’s Christian, the building's enigmatic billionaire owner, who might just have a marshmallow core beneath that brooding exterior.
Stella and Christian's relationship takes us through an emotional conga line – it’s fun, a bit chaotic, and occasionally someone’s stepping on someone else’s toes. With tropes like billionaire romance, forced proximity, neighbor romance, and the always-fun fake dating, it feels like Huang threw all our favorite romance elements into a shaker, poured it into a chalice, and served us a delightful margarita.
However, a fair word of warning: while this cocktail is mostly sweet and fizzy, it also has some heavy undertones. Huang doesn't shy away from real, gritty elements. We're talking stalking, graphic violence, kidnapping, and several poignant themes like Alzheimer’s and the death of a parent. This ain’t your grandma’s romance… unless she's into intense billionaire dramas. If so, go Grandma!
Perhaps the quote that stuck with me the most was, “You will always be my first, last and only love.” It’s sentences like these that make you go, "Ana, who gave you the right to tug at my heartstrings this way?"
The juxtaposition of Stella's quiet intensity and Christian’s seemingly brash exterior converges into a love story that leaves an indelible mark on the reader's heart. For every time Christian seemed like he might explode into a supernova of rage, there's a moment of vulnerability that makes you think, "Ah, billionaires. They're just like us. Kinda."
To wrap this up (before I begin gushing uncontrollably), 'Twisted Lies' is a masterclass in how to craft a layered romance. Slow burn? Check. Intense chemistry? Double-check. A plot that has you clutching your chest in emotional turmoil? Triple check.
So if you’re in the mood for a bumpy road of feels, complicated characters, and a narrative that goes between intensely tender and electrifyingly spicy, 'Twisted Lies' should be on your reading list. It’s the kind of book you dive into on a lazy weekend – and emerge on Monday, slightly dazed and wholly satisfied.
And as we bid farewell to the 'Twisted' series, I echo the sentiment: Ana Huang, whatever you're writing next, my heart and my cup of tea are ready!
Please note that this book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone.
Wait a minute boys and girls, check out these trigger warnings first:
Alzheimer’s
Anxiety
Death/graphic violence
Death of a parent
Emotionally abusive parents
Kidnapping
Mention of suicide
Stalking/cyberstalking
Romance Tropes, you ask ?
Billionaire
Fake Dating
Forced Proximity
Morality Chain
Neighbors
Roommates
Who do we meet in this book ?
Stella
Christian
