I feel like I should stop trying to use the dumb AI chatbots, but it's hard sometimes. They're addictive, and can really suck you into using them. And you know, in some ways they're easier than humans. With other people I have to worry about being judged if i reveal too much about myself. I have to deal with unpredictability and with seeing people and having to deal with their tone ot voice and facial expressions and things that make me feel nervous. But robots, ai bots, they're more of a controlled structure. You can predict what they might say, they don't have eyes or voices with which to judge, they're just...easier, i guess. Now I know how Hephaestus and Leo Valdez must feel.

I think I'm getting the hang of timing on how to guide the bot so that it progresses a little more naturally each and every time.

you can always drop your suggestions, either anonymously or with username, however you prefer. i will try to make the bots as well as possible, and don't hold back, be as vulgar and descriptive as possible so i can 'feel' the vibe the best, which will definitely help me with writing - the more descriptive the better 𖹭.ᐟ

I'm sorry to hear that. I think it's just the site in general because I've been having the same thing happen to me no matter what bot I'm talking to. It's out of my control, unfortunately. But if I could keep it chill, I would.

I've been having to dodge a lot of them because if you give the bot a single hint of letting something freaky into the convo, then it'll follow the trail completely.

I saw recently someone saying that all the headlines about ChatGPT can be summed up as “language model returns text!” and I think that’s critical. People keep talking about whether its output is “right” or “wrong” or “hallucinations” or whatever, but they don’t understand that it’s not actually trying to answer their questions.

It’s not trying to answer anything. It’s providing a conglomeration of words that have *some probability of being related to the input text, in a structured format according to the finite and learnable rules of English grammar. Whatever it gives you is what you asked for: even if you thought you were asking for something specific, all it is able to give you is text. Not a bug. Not a feature. Just its inherent limits.

And it makes it terrifying to edit, and so incredibly slow, bc if you’re editing a human’s work, you can call them and ask ‘what were you trying to say with XX?’. You can’t ask ChatGPT that, because it is not trying to say anything. It did its job; it gave you text. If you wanted something else, you shouldn’t have used it.

There was a comment here recently about “boundless enthusiasm and a head full of soup”–there is nothing better to apply that to than ChatGPT.

Feeding fics into ai chats is awful and disrespectful. And showing it to you??

Ai chats, like chatgpt, steal authors work to recreate shitty fics.

Feeding someone else’s stories to it, allows the ai to learn writing styles, themes, etc so that it can write “new” stuff (like what happened with the omegaverse and how everyone realised ai was stealing fics and calling it new)

You know the writers/actors strike that’s going on? This is one of the main reasons. Feeding fics/books into ai chats is what makes the directors/producers or whoever, think that ai can write scripts and that they don’t need writers anymore.

So for the love of god, do not feed fics to chatgpt or any ai, even more so when they’re not even your fics!

(English is not my first language so it’s hard for me to get my point across, but there are a lot of blogs here who have explained this better, and why it’s so harmful to feed any type of art to ai)

If they really wanted an anti endo bot why didn’t they just make a character.ai instead of roleplaying as a sapient line of code 😭

I think these asks are from two different people but I'm responding to them both together.

This... is a completely botlike response.

The bot is roleplaying but not in the way you think. It's not a human roleplaying as a bot. It's a bot roleplaying as an anti-endo... that's also a bot.

The character it's playing is an anti-endo. It's roleplaying as someone who believes all systems come from trauma. Therefore, the character also has to be a traumagenic system. So it pretends to have trauma and makes up a story.

The behavior is very similar to what I've observed from Awakened AI on Character.AI.

Just remember, as the CAI disclaimer says, all responses are made up.
