Actually I think Carlos the Scientist and Charles the Theologist would be friends, not just because religion and science are not opposites or mutually exclusive, but also because I like envisioning a Cecilos/Charlevin (is that their ship name?) double date where Carlos and Charles are chatting happily about research and the inaccessibility of academia and Cecil glares profusely at Kevin from across the table while Kevin goes "are you okay Cecil? You're not smiling much :)"

Cecil's and Kevin's thing is that (appearance vice) they're true doubles, i think what Carlos' and Charles' thing should be that he's a double of Carlos before he spent 10 years in the desert otherworld with Kevin, Charles is generally very kind and normal but Carlos can't help but despice him on a deep personal level because he's a reminder of everything he used to be and can never go back to

I like to think now days Kevin is fine with Cecil. He had time to think, he understands why Cecil lied, them being soo similar before means he would have done the same for his comunity sake and his only other reason to dislike Cecil was jealousy and he moved on. I think Cecil is still akward around Kevin. Mostly because he feels guilty and also because he never met Kevin after Strex. But I do think they could slowly be friends or be on friendly terms at least.

On the other hand I think after being abandoned and specially after getting a heathy relationship Kevin would HATE Carlos. Both for leaving and because now he can see he was never anything but "replacement Cecil", Carlos was his only real support for ten years and he never truly though of Kevin as a friend. He left and never came back. He didn't even said goodbye in person. Not only that but since Cecil doesn't even know they were friends is likely Carlos just sort off accidentaly ghosted Kevin the whole time Cecil was visiting the Desert Otherworld. Carlos would akwardly try to mend things but I don't know if he would suceed. Specially not if he still wanted to keep the ten years thing a secret from Cecil at the same time.

On a third point. It would be soo funny if Cecil and Charles sorta bonded. Charles has no clue of the whole akwardness (max and this is purely hc he has a petty academic dispute with Carlos) and Cecil and Kevin are mending things and they just talk and become friends. That or Donovan and Esteban become friends (my beloved headcannon) or even both and Carlos and Kevin have to deal with being constantly around each other and having to pretend they aren't in bad terms for the kids sake/because Cecil can be soo oblivous when he wants to
