“ Se in Russia era vietato parlare di guerra, in Italia era proibito parlare di pace. La prima risoluzione fatta votare dal governo Draghi al Parlamento per armare l’Ucraina, in barba all’articolo 11 della Costituzione, parlava soavemente di “armi non letali”, come se si potessero inviare fionde, cerbottane, fuciletti a tappo, pistole ad acqua o a coriandoli e lingue di Menelik. Poi si è bandita l’ipocrisia e ammesso che, sì, le armi erano letali, ma servivano alla “de-escalation”. Restava da capire che cosa fosse allora l’escalation, visto che l’avevamo sempre intesa come un aumento delle armi. Di conseguenza, quando il leader 5 Stelle Giuseppe Conte s’è opposto all’aumento della spesa militare fino al 2% del Pil entro il 2024 chiesta da tutti gli altri grandi partiti (circa 15 miliardi di euro in più all’anno), il «Corriere della Sera» titolava sulla sua “escalation anti-armi” e «Repubblica» sulla “escalation grillina”. Quindi ora escalation significa meno armi e de-escalation più armi: basta intendersi. Ancora «Repubblica»: «Pronte nuove armi per Kiev, ma Draghi: “Cercare la pace”»; «Letta: “Le armi fanno vivere la pace”» (è il disarmo che la ammazza, la pace). E «La Stampa»: «L’Anpi è troppo pacifista» (come quella ragazza che era rimasta “un po’ incinta”). A furia di scambiare la guerra con la pace, anche Draghi andava in confusione e intimava agli italiani di «scegliere tra la pace e i condizionatori accesi», come se le due cose non coesistessero pacificamente (in tempo di pace nessuno ha mai messo in dubbio i condizionatori accesi: è la guerra che potrebbe costringere gli italiani a spegnerli; motivo in più per favorire la pace, o almeno una tregua, al più presto). Il Papa – anche lui in odor di putinismo – dissentiva sul riarmo e definiva «pazzi quelli che vogliono aumentare la spesa militare al 2% del Pil» (cioè Draghi, Letta Jr e le altre destre). E il premier? «Draghi ringrazia il Papa» («Corriere della Sera»). Pazzo, ma riconoscente.

In questa follia collettiva gli amici diventavano nemici, i buoni diventavano cattivi, e viceversa. Boris Johnson, da truce sponsor della Brexit, del trumpismo, del sovranismo, del populismo e del negazionismo sul Covid, diventava idolo degli atlantisti per il suo totale asservimento a Washington. Il governo polacco, negatore dei diritti civili e dell’indipendenza della magistratura, da sempre “paria” d’Europa con tanto di procedure di infrazione e minacce di espulsione, veniva elogiato e ossequiato (ma soprattutto perdonato) da tutti per la sua postura bellicista contro gli odiati russi. I nazisti del Battaglione “Azov”, da sempre onta dei governi ucraini per le loro insegne ispirate alla svastica, per l’ideologia suprematista e antisemita, e per i report dell’Onu, di Amnesty International e dell’Osce che li additano come autori di efferati crimini e torture contro i civili russofoni in Donbass e non solo, venivano riabilitati e addirittura esaltati sulla Rai del “servizio pubblico” (da Massimo Gramellini), su «Repubblica», sul «Corriere della Sera» e sul «Foglio» (a firma di un’ex spia prezzolata della Cia: Giuliano Ferrara). In compenso, il vignettista Vauro veniva additato come “antisemita” per aver disegnato il naso un po’ troppo grosso a Zelensky (come sempre avviene nelle caricature). Insomma, il tentativo di trasformare una guerra regionale in una guerra mondiale aveva ottime speranze di successo, grazie a una mirabile divisione dei compiti che Antonello Ciccozzi, docente di Antropologia culturale all’Università dell’Aquila, fotografava così: «In Ucraina, alla rappresentazione dualistica tra invasi e invasori, dovremmo aggiungere un terzo elemento: gli invasati». “

Ides, or in Latin Idus, means the middle of the month, and on that March 15th in 44 BC, before the birth of Christ, a terrible event occurred in the then Roman Republic when corrupt senators led by Brutus and Cassius killed the Roman dictator and leader Gaius Julius Caesar, which put the Roman state in danger and a new civil war.
