Listen the ‘Bruce brought dick in to stop him killing Zucco” is fun
You know what’s more fun
The fact that Dick Grayson is the fundamental opposite of Jokers one bad day
Because he was 9 and insane
Jokers “all it takes is one bad day” meet Dick Grayson also terminally insane but in the opposite direction.
(“I had a bad day not a fan, it’s illegal now”
“Chum murder is already illegal”
“Yeah in the eyes of the law, but who follows that! I’ve decided it’s illegal for people to have bad days”
“You have to follow laws Dick. You have to”
“Says the man getting shot at by the cops bc he dresses as a giant bat monster and fights crime using ancient martial arts”
“Hnnng”
“Anyway it’s illegal now, people suffering I have decided and I’m adorable so what I say goes!”
Bruce pinching bridge of nose “Dick you can’t save everyone and change every person you meets life”
“How about! No!”
“Di-“
“Great talk Bruce! Bye bye now!”)
Like when I say Dick Grayson was the crazy Robin I don’t mean he was aggressive or cruel
No I mean this man would not be out of place in Lewis Carol’s Alice in wonderland.
He’d see all the insane shit in Gotham and go ‘that makes perfect sense’ and continue on his merry way
Like he’s the type of kid who when he’s mad at Bruce for sidelining him on a fight against the joker (and making him fight Harley)
Will pull out a chessboard, grab Harley Quinn and go “I win, you get arkhamed you win we fight”
“Kid-“
“I have a gymnastics competition coming up and I wanna show up this douche in my class- you are not breaking my legs before then. Sit down. Play chess”
“Shit kid why didncha say so”
Why does he wanna fight the Joker who will objectively injure him far more throughly
“Well it’s simple math, I grew up in a circus, I like clowns, he is the biggest disgrace to clownery I’ve ever seen bet he didn’t even go to clown college. Doesn’t even have any iconic makeup, he just has toxic waste skin?? Like not even eye makeup or a red nose?? If you wanna do thematic crime do it right? Anyway it’s my legal obligation to try at any given moment to reck the embarrassment to all things goofy and funs shit.”
—————
Bruce looking for his 9 year old ward who was kidnapped as Robin
Dick hanging upside down on semi sentient vine gesturing wildly at poison Ivy who is nodding empathically
“And the water here is not normal!! Like how do you grow plants! I used to have to take care of plants all the time and now if I water them they rot! Like right in front of me!!? And I feel so bad but?? It’s water?? Please drink it?? Mr plant”
“Oh yeah it’s because of all the toxic ace chemicals in the water, you have to triple filter it. Honestly Robin I’m disappointed, your plants should be drinking the same water as you”
“ they do tho!”
“You…drink… Gotham tap water? Batman lets you drink Gotham tap water?”
“Well no… he always tells me to use the filter but I like the tap water!! Sometimes it’s fun colors and spicy”
“oh… oh that explains so much about you..”
“No he just came like that.”
“Oh HI B I was asking miss Dr.ivy why my plants keep dying”
“Robin don’t consort with villains”
“Miss Dr. Ivy you’re a doctor right”
Poison Ivy who is violently amused “PHD not MD but yeah I am”
“So you’re smart”
“Yeasss”
“Cool!…. What does consort mean?”
————-
Annoys the riddler by going with the most out of pocket technically true answer
Think “a sparrow with a shotgun”
———-
Makes the Jokers goons laugh, louder than the joker. Even while under threats of death by sufficiently wacky murder plot

Conversations between best friends has often led to some reckless/stupid/not thought out at all decisions. Like one conversation the amity park trio had where Danny said that he couldn't see Tucker as a doctor (the medical kind) to which Tucker responded with "Alright, bet." and enrolled in medical school. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Bruce Wayne and Tucker Foley somehow by coincidence *cough* clockwork* became friends. And stayed friends even after Bruce dropped out and Tucker went on to finish med school. It was a strange friendship that was mainly just Bruce calling Tucker from the weirdest locations and asking things "Out of curiosity, if an immortal nutjob wanted you to marry his daughter and become his heir what would you do? uh-huh, uh-huh, really? ok, thanks." and meeting up for coffee every now and then. It was during one of these coffee meet-ups that Bruce confessed that he wanted to adopt a recently orphaned child by the name of Richard. There was currently push back from people who didn't think 'Brucie Wayne' would be a good parent and from others who didn't want a random kid having a chance to inherit the Wayne fortune, the media was also having a field day. Everyone kept asking him to "reconsider" and doing everything they can to stall/stop the adoption process. Tucker, being the good friend he was, said "Don't worry, I got this" Stood up from the cafe table, walked to the nearest library and politely asked to use one of their computers, spent a good ten minutes on it, printed something out on the library's printer, walked back to the cafe where he left Bruce waiting. And finally, he handed over the paper with the words "Take this." and continued drinking his now cold coffee. Bruce was, understandably, confused. "What is-" "Trust me, it'll work." Tucker assured him. That is how Bruce Wayne adopted one Richard 'Dick' Grayson.
And after that, Bruce went to Tucker whenever he came across a kid that he wanted to adopt, which was often. It's one reason why Tucker will do everything in his power to make sure Danny and Bruce never meet for fear that the Gothamite might try to add the Halfa to the growing army of children. Aka

Fuck the people who say what 'Lego and Telltale are the only acceptable Batjokes!!1!1'...Have you fucking played telltale or is this acceptable because John is sucha sweetheart and he and Bruce are friends? Okay, let's start it.
John is highly unsettling individual. All his life he spent in Asylum and learned how to pretend and manipulate people so they won't suspect anything and will just think what John is a kind and good boy who just doesn't know what he is doing most of time. John literally runs around the Arkham fearing it's patients and making doctor and stuff like him and get him out quickly. He can make a riot by just one thing because he understands what triggers people so he can calmly use it for his own purposes. John is very good at pretending sweet and silly, he may be really sweet guy for someone who is close to him(Bruce, Harley, Dr.Leland) but the same people will see eventually after sweet act how John will do some violent shit. John understands what's going on from the start, he knew what Bruce uses him, he probably knew what The Pact uses him, but he keeps close to them since the world out of Arkham is still new to him so he still needs to understand how to mimicry and be a part of the crowd. John have literally no emphaty towards others so he can calmly kill, he probably is psychopath(Feels a lot of joy watching people suffer) or sociopath(Can't really feel emotions and also can't even blush). Depending on the route we still can see all of those. Vigilante!Joker's understanding of justice is as well unsettling since he literally kill people and this don't really have to be a criminal it can be just the person he didn't like or who make him feel uncomfortable. And I have much more to talk about Villain!Joker route. During this we see shattered and broken John who hid himself under the villain since he doesn't want to let people use him anymore, but on the other side the villain is who John really are. During the fake date John shares what he doesn't know who he is and inside he feels darkness and a monster who is trying to reach out. It's obviously hinting what John knows about how dangerous he can be so he keeps it under control, locked away from everyone so he won't hurt people around, but he never feels any regrets for letting it out. No matter how much John can be under the influence, he always done whatever he wants since the first appearance. He created riots, promised Bruce what he will get him laptop and than gives it to his Batman persona, than played a good boy for Harley acting like hee knows nothing and helping Bruce and than betrayed the Pact for the sake of Bruce. Vigilante!Joker started killing, Villain!John started helping. By the time of the Villain route Joker literally helps the whole city without Harley's knowing and than stops her several times from killing Bruce just to leave her alone by the end. Also If in the final fight we dies Vigilante!Joker seemed to be really happy and he laughs and smiles, while Villain!Joker feels happy at the start but his smile quickly fades like he never wanted this to happen. During Vigilante route John let himself rule, during villain route John let his feelings rule, but by the end of the day John is still smart, manipulative and good-pretending at being sweet. I know John is a sweet and confused guy but he isn't innocent, never was and never will.
Now let's talk about his and Bruce's relationship especially. John is kinda abusive towards Bruce(giving mixed messages is an emotional abuse). Bruce asks John If he likes him and John rejects Bruce but literally two minutes later, in the car, If Bruce tells John what Harley is right and he have a crush on him, John accepts it. Afterwards they act like nothing happens between them all the time, John just acceptes and dismisses all Bruce's affection(If you do it in your route, ofc) and Bruce being left confused. He tries to stay by John's side, keep following him and helping him, but at one moment he gets affection and acceptance right after that he has to see how John dismisses him and goes after Harley instead. John holding Bruce on the short leash:short enough for Bruce staying close to him, but long enough for pulling away from Bruce. People can say: 'But John just confused between his feelings for Harley and for Bruce!' And I'll say: 'But that doesn't justifies his actions!' It explains why he does that, it makes us understand better why he does that, but that doesn't mean we should justifie it. On the moment John killing agents we can choice not only If Bruce values their friendship and loves him enough to forgive that, but also If Bruce is already stucked with his abuser. In the villain route it just feels not like Bruce just can't accept murderer, but like he wants to go out of this situation and maybe help John so everything will be better. Also I love both routes because there we sees all of the John from different sides,Villain is a monster who is highly confused in himself and If he is actually can be capable of good, meanwhile in Vigilante route we see a very confused guy who did something bad thinking he is doing something good. Also I can understand people who would in the end of the game say what they don't think of John as a friend. From the POV of Bruce it's like finally getting out of abusive relationships, it will leave trauma in him and John will return in his life for revenge, but Bruce doesn't know it so for him it surely will be better.
Telltale Batjokes isn't something goofy and sweet like Lego, it's drama, confusion and pain hidden under the sweetness.

Picture Perfect Psychopath
Doctor Jonathan Crane/ fem reader.
3.9k words
(So far, this is just a drabble, but I do have an idea of where this story could go. I've been watching The Dark Knight trilogy and got inspired. Reader works at Arkham Asylum as a psychiatrist, sharing the field of study with Scarecrow and old flame Harley Quinn. Likely not canon-compliant. Kinda merged various movies since I'm no comic book expert.)
Tumblr media
Arkham Asylum is a cesspool of depraved criminals, as it has been for the past few years. Typical people who are suffering from mental illnesses and were sent away without care were obvious. This institution was the cheapest and easiest way to lock up the sick, even before the creation of the vigilantes. Everyone in Gotham City knew to keep their eyes on the ground and act as if crimes were invisible. If you cause a fuss in any shape or form, don't be surprised if you get dragged away in a body bag. You hated the mere thought of disregarding the pain of the city, but what could you do if no one would listen? Criminals, no matter the type, always have a story to tell.
“Bruce, the next time you interrupt my work for a house call, I'm stealing your Batmobile!”
You've been sitting in Wayne Manor for the past two hours, all because your friend wanted to “check-in” on the status of the newest patients. On any other day, you might have given him leniency, but he's been siphoning you for information without a decent break. Now, you not only have to write and submit a few dozen reports before sunset, all while juggling Bruce Wayne. The billionaire rolls his eyes but smiles, enjoying a day where he can loosen up and act as a person instead of a shadow.
“Nice try, but the garage is foolproof. I learned my lesson when you took my ride for a spin last year.”
You sip the cola in your hand, amused at the memory of speeding around the house and getting the vehicle caked in dirt. You apologized to Alfred when realizing the butler had to clean it afterward.
“Too bad, I was hoping to test the maximum speed,” you said with a chuckle, “I'm kidding, of course.”
“Sometimes, I worry about your coworkers. Do they know how much damage you can cause when bored?”
You glare at him from the couch. Work was something you liked to keep separate from life; he knew that very well. After all, if someone identified Batman successfully, then Wayne Enterprises would crumble in on itself.
“Do you know how much damage you cause when I'm not around to cover your tracks? Honestly, you may give Alfred a heart attack.”
The butler frowns at your humor before taking your empty glass. You notice the lipstick mark left over, reminding yourself to reapply the makeup. Psychiatric professionals do their best to look formal, and this habit has followed them since college. When you consider the many polished individuals at the facility, one is always at the forefront of your mind: Doctor Jonathan Crane. No matter the time of day, his appearance is that of near perfection, or you like to think so. Today, you have a briefing with him, and the idea has prompted you to dress to impress; the shade of cherry red on your lips is a testament to that.
“I'm always careful, (Y/N). I have Gordon, Alfred, and Lucius for that very purpose. You know Arkham is filled with lunatics and, more specifically, the worst villains.”
“We've had this conversation before, Bruce. I'm good at my job, and the people you lock up are kept in the deepest parts. Plus, I always hear exciting stories, which makes time fly by!”
He gives you a stern glance, not happy with your unbothered attitude. You drop the smile and sigh.
“I know you think I can't handle myself in that place. You get up close and personal with villains more often than I do. Every floor has a ton of security guards, not to mention cameras and passcodes in each room!”
Eventually, he gives up the protective demeanor. If you needed his help, he was the first in line. If not, he would be prepared for the future.
“Right, I know you're responsible and cautious, (Y/N). It's still the institution with the most significant number of patients in Gotham, so I want you to stay alert. Tim and the others are patrolling tonight if you run into trouble. Remember, the GCPD is conducting investigations on a possible new perpetrator.”
You nod to his speech, tapping your heels underneath the coffee table. He is about to give you another piece of information, but the sound of the front door opening and hurried footsteps is your cue to leave. Barbara Gordon, Tim Drake, and Jason Todd enter the room, waving a synchronous greeting in your direction. Your phone beeps in your jacket pocket, and you fumble the device when the caller is listed. Barbara notices your excitement and chuckles, watching as you answer the phone.
“Hello, this is (Y/N) (L/N); how may I help?”
“It's Dr. Crane, as you probably knew judging by how quickly you answered. The administration got caught up in other matters, so it's just you and me. Don't be late.”
The voice catches you off guard, your heart beating too quickly regarding the abrupt message. You lose your ability to speak, and like everything else, he's already caught a glimpse of it.
“Doctor—what about the meeting on security clearances? We still have much to discuss with the board; isn't this important?”
“I've already taken care of most of the concerns. Currently, my priority is talking to you about your individual endeavors regarding Arkham. Do you have an issue with this?”
As he asks, you know he's not looking for an honest answer. You swallow your pride, although tempting to draw on this further.
“No, Doctor. I'm on my way right now.”
“Good, I have high hopes you'll be fascinated by my newest work.”
You have nothing else to add as he hangs up, an annoying habit you wish didn't leave you bitter. Barbara steps over, raising a brow in examination. Your behavior, coupled with the alluring cosmetics on your face, indicates an attention to detail made to attract. The young woman tilts her head, examining your efforts, and pauses. She prevents your curiosity by grabbing a maroon scarf hung on the hat rack and placing it on your neck. As she wraps the fabric loosely around your collar, she discreetly whispers, “In case whoever you see leaves a mark or can't keep you warm. It also matches your lipstick.”
The redhead winks at you, knowing that finding worthwhile men in Gotham is a rare treat. If only you knew who you were falling for, maybe someone else could have turned your head. The likelihood of your coworker getting obsessed with another pretty face was nonexistent, especially when he knew every method of pushing your buttons.
Gotham weather stands to be frigid regardless of the season, and the cold water on your cheeks proves it. Hurriedly, you head to your car, jumping in the driver's seat and turning the hot air on. You flip the sun visor down, using the compartment mirror to double-check your appearance. You smile, wink, and perform other expressions to understand if this is too much. It's not like you dressed yourself in fancy attire, but the makeup sensation tells you this is different—the scarf clings to your shoulders, adding an extra layer of comfort.
The City appears as dreary as ever, with gray clouds looming over the skyscrapers. You knew this landscape was not as picturesque as the Bahamas, but it was familiar. In this place, you felt like a necessary presence, that your actions were genuinely helping people live. Others complain that they think soulless thoughts and have no purpose in a city of thugs, but they don't see the possibilities. No, you appreciated the constant ebb and flow pattern because it meant everything was up to chance. Unlike Harvey Dent, you had no interest in flipping a coin to decide your fate; if you wanted something and could achieve it, why worry about the downfall? Bruce told you to avoid trouble, and maybe if you tried harder, you could, but curiosity always took control. The night turned Gotham into a place of both dreams and nightmares. When the streets glow amber and the windows shine with the moon, the law is subject to change.
Rain slams against the windshield, the downpour forcing you to drive at a snail’s pace. Common sense doesn't stop other drivers from taking risky turns; some cars cut in front despite your right of way. You honk your horn at the reckless speeding, internally regretting this venture. At least twenty minutes have passed since you left, and yet you're still running late. Luckily, most security guards let you pass immediately, while one or two demand identification. If you weren't so anxious, you would see the multiple faults that made Arkham’s reputation. People were lazy, some slacking without a care. Others were too busy dealing with life changes to support this institution.
The repetitive sound of your heels clicking on the tile floor draws someone's attention. Unfortunately, you can barely avoid this girl regularly, so it makes sense that she would be another obstacle.
“Woah, pudding, you getting ready for the runway or something? I haven't seen you wear red in a long time. It makes a girl wonder, what's the occasion?”
Harleen Quinzel stands in her cell, dressed in a jumpsuit that does her no justice. Her usually dyed hair is unkempt and faded, now a dirty blonde with pigment spots. Despite her living situation, her personality is still bubbly. She holds a bent cigarette and takes a drag, then tosses the leftovers underneath her boots. The woman approaches the metal bars, wrapping her hands around two and leaning through the gap. A stream of smoke is exhaled into your face, the delinquent playfully puckering her lips.
“I have a critical meeting with Dr. Crane, and it was supposed to be with the rest of the board until something got in the way. I'm running late, and if I don't get to that office in time—”
Harley raises her index finger, pressing against your lips to stop your words.
“That does sound like a pretty jumbo deal, dollface! From one doctor to another, rescheduling an administrative meeting is unnecessarily convoluted!”
She moves her hand to cup your jaw, tilting your face in multiple angles to glimpse your handiwork. A smile spreads across her lips, her tongue licking the front of her teeth. It makes you nervous, and she knows it.
“I mean, he said he ‘took care of it,’ but I don't know if that necessarily means it was rescheduled. The board could have discussed several possibilities, so I can't guarantee anything.”
You don't know what she's trying to prove.
“Something tells me your lover boy isn't inviting you for a simple coffee. No, with a mind as unpredictable as his, I bet you'll leave here with more than a headache. That is, if you leave at all, dollface.”
Her voice digs further into your mind, higher-pitched as she giggles to herself. You adjust the scarf to distract yourself, but she won't let this topic rest.
“Harley, as much as I appreciate what I assume is a concern, I know what I'm doing.”
“Sure you do, pudding. You think he's all sweet and charming, right? Doctor Jonathan Crane, who wears a nice suit and never gets his hands dirty? He probably compliments your work and swears to get back to your questions. I'll even bet he holds your hand a little too long when he shakes it, and you don't say anything because you want his hand on yours.”
She sees the blush rising to your cheeks and continues to torment you. You can't breathe clearly, not when your lungs burn like this.
“Oh, I bet you want him to do all sorts of things to you. When he holds your hand, do you imagine it somewhere else on your body? Do you think he'll have you by the waist while his other hand traces your neck? Will he squeeze your throat and bruise the pretty skin, rubbing his tongue up and down? Will you let him devour you as I did? I bet you'll have his handprints on your thighs for weeks, the dirty little secret that you keep to yourself?”
She plays with the ends of your hair, curling the strands around her fingers. You haven't been this close to her in years, and your proximity reminds you why. Getting close to villains is a quick path to insanity. You step away from the cell, regaining your focus. A pair of footsteps echo down the stairwell, slow and precise. When you turn, your coworker is impatiently waiting, a scowl etched onto his features as he stares between you and Harley Quinn. The blonde enthusiastically waves at him, earning a glare.
“Come along; we have lots to discuss and little time to waste. I thought I clarified that I wanted you in my office five minutes ago.”
You follow his figure, a knot in your stomach at his unusual mood. The doctor could be a pain when it came to protocols, but you two got along reasonably well. He gave you criteria to follow, and more often than not, he liked to debate your findings. You hoped this was a quick conversation, but then it didn't make sense that he instructed you to take a ferry for something he could have said on the phone.
“Yes, I had to drive through the rain and rush in traffic. I wasn't counting on the weather to be so awful or for Harley Quinn to pull me aside.”
He waits by the top of the stairwell for you, watching as your heels tap the concrete. It amazed him: the concept of walking on elevated stilts that could snap like a twig. You don't miss how he scans your legs or how the muscles in your calves tighten. He extends a hand, presenting the cordiality that made you admire him in the first place. You hesitate with trembling fingers, muttering a quiet “thanks” as he holds your palm. He's warm, and it gives you too much satisfaction. Instead of letting go, he merely continues walking, carefully trailing his fingers over your radial pulse. Each thrum of your heartbeat is now in his possession of knowledge, tipping him off on your anxiety. The door to his office is down a corridor, only accessible to visitors and himself.
“Had you considered wearing gloves, Doctor? You might want to invest in case the temperature drops. If you can't use your hands, I suppose the mind is sufficient, but exhausting yourself unnecessarily is no good to anyone.”
You sit in one of the two chairs, removing your scarf and placing it in your lap. Crane takes his place behind the desk and falls into the chair, folding his hands on the flat surface.
“Believe me, if I could grab a few extra layers, I would have. I was visiting a friend when you called, and since you requested I hurry, there was no point in going home to change. I've lived in Gotham for a long time, and a storm isn't enough to stop me from doing my job. Anyway, you said there was something you needed me to examine?”
He slides a manilla folder towards you, numerous papers spilling from the seam. You take the hint to inspect the documents, flipping through the pages and absorbing the content. MRI scans, coupled with test results and psychological jargon, cover the sheets. You wrinkle your nose in focus, recognizing the highlighted areas of the brain as the amygdala and the frontal lobe. The human brain structure separates information based on its importance, using the amygdala for the fear response and the frontal lobe for rational thought. If one of these locations is compromised, whether by neural chemicals or injuries, the body cannot regulate its reactions to stressful environments. You continue reading, wholly fascinated by the hypotheses listed. The last few pages are still being worked on, primarily blank except for messily written notes. While your train of thought is still understandable, you remove a pen from your coat pocket and begin scribbling. He stares in amusement, pride blooming at your coinciding wonder.
“Doctor Crane, this is beyond incredible! If you were to develop this drug, who knows what group might want it? Not to mention the possibility of designing a formula with the opposite goal of annihilating fear entirely!”
He doesn't bother to hide the smirk on his face as you supply him an ego boost. Initially, he worried you would have an adverse reaction given your good-natured spirit, but those doubts were put to rest by the sight of your smile. The longer he allows himself to relax, the more his eyes are drawn to your lips. Red was a beautiful color on you, contrasting the dim aura of this hospital. As you revel in this energized state, you do not anticipate the foreign sensation of his mouth against yours. Recognition dawns on you as the scent of his cologne lingers, and the papers fall to the ground. You cautiously lean into his touch, grasping his shoulders to bring him closer. The fabric of his shirt bunches as you dig your fingers into the material. He has no qualms with your proximity, but he recognizes the trepidation in your movements for what it is: the worry that you'll scare him away. It's ironic, and it tells him that the only way to disprove your doubt is to make sure you know that this encounter isn't based on the heat of the moment.
He kisses you harder, pushing his tongue inside your mouth. You gasp in surprise, allowing him additional access, as well as the ability to overpower you. Never had you thought that the absurd fantasy of him kissing you would come to fruition, and certainly not in his office over research data. This was supposed to be a dull day of filing paperwork and overhearing business, not the instance where your co-worker, technically your boss, would be sharing saliva. His lips travel to your cheek, then your jaw, trailing down your neck. He has to remove the scarf and unbutton your collar to reach the desired location. You tilt your head back, moaning as he grows closer to your carotid vein. Similar to your earlier encounter, he locates your pulse, biting and sucking the skin as your heart rate increases. You admittedly have no idea what you're doing, but you do know that the image of him making out with you is extremely hot.
Yet, rational is a demon that you cannot leave behind. You're a scientist through and through, which means taking time to analyze the effects of this situation is necessary. Gently, you press against his chest, halting his actions and putting space between you. He looks down at you quizzically, adjusting his glasses that had fallen from the bridge of his nose.
“We could keep going with this course of action, not that I would complain, but maybe we should consider what we're getting ourselves into. I mean, we work together, and if we pursue a relationship, that could cause an entire slew of issues. Let’s cool our jets and think about this objectively before getting too deep.”
You feel a new weight on your chest as you try to analyze his expression. Most days, you could guess his emotions based on small talk, if he even spoke to you. Unfortunately, he's again acting like a blank slate, unreadable as the silence grows longer. Somehow, this enigma of a human specimen has become a magnetic field, drawing you in despite your better judgment. It's not that you don't want to see where this night goes, but the idea of committing to him, especially in the workplace, sends a chill down your spine.
“I see what you are getting at, (Y/N). It's not a problem if you want to think this over. Honestly, I prefer my opinion, but I see no fault in mulling it over. We wouldn't be scientists if we didn't leave decisions up to logic, would we?”
He seems calm enough, and that takes some of the pressure off. You breathe out a sigh before stretching your neck, still a bit unsure of what to do. Another beat of awkward silence follows before you work up enough courage to face him. Blue eyes catch your thousand-yard stare and dart back to the ground.
“It's getting late. D-do you need anything else from me, Jonathan?”
He is not expecting you to refer to him by his first name despite the circumstances. The sound of your hesitancy is still cute, and he wasn't expecting his name to sound so good on your tongue.
“No, I have everything I need. Do you want me to drive you home? The weather is still raining cats and dogs. Not only that, but Gotham is dangerous already, and I wouldn't want you to get hurt.”
The offer seems adequate, and you know precisely the dangers lurking outside. If not for crime and insanity, you wouldn't have a job, but that doesn't mean you want to get caught up in legal shenanigans.
“I drove to the docking bay with my car, so assuming you drive, that would leave one of us without our respective vehicles…”
“You're partially correct. I take a taxi to get around town most of the time so that I won't abandon my car here. Then again, if I drove your car, I would still have to call a cab at one point or another.”
His analysis has you pondering the options until you decide to wing it. You've already made out with your boss, how much worse could it get?
“Screw it, I'll call you a taxi myself. If the weather gets too bad, you can stay at my place for the night.”
You pick up your scarf from the chair, throwing it around your neck in preparation for the cold air outside. The hallways are still empty, and for once, you're glad since the quiet gives you space to think. All that's left is to descend the stairs, pass security, and get the hell out of there. You place your hand in your pocket to grab your identification card but pause as your co-worker is two steps ahead of you, already swiping his badge across the checkpoint. That's right, he has a higher security clearance than you; no wonder he's always early to the office.
“There ya’ are pudding! How'd that meeting go—”
Harley Quinn wastes no time in asking questions as soon as she sees you approach. The doctor next to you gives her a scowl like last time, but the reason behind it is different. Before, he was irritated by her peppy attitude, and now it's jealousy. The blonde’s expression turns into a frown, but covers it with her usual distaste for nitpicky professionals. You would find their disagreement amusing if not for your fresh taste of humanity from the critical doctor, his shell still rough around the edges. You let your mind wander, barely recognizing the arm around your shoulder until you feel the support of his body against you.
These moments are the ones that make your heart race and your mind split. You know this guy, right? He has to be one of the good men in this rotten city. If not, what would you do anyway?

Headcanon - Bruce Wayne
Age and Appearance
Bruce is in his early to mid-40s; he’s seldom specific about his age on the rare occasions he’s asked, mostly because he doesn’t think it’s important. And some part of him never really thought he’d live this long anyway.
Short black hair, generally combed back when in public but left to its own devices otherwise, with piercing blue eyes.
6’2” tall, 210lbs, with a highly toned, muscular build.
Absolutely covered with scars, most of which have been publicly explained away as the result of car crashes and skiing accidents.
Favors quiet, practical clothing when not needing to maintain his public persona; muted colors, greys, and blacks rule his wardrobe.
Rarely if ever seen with short sleeves in public, largely due to the aforementioned scars; needing to maintain the image of a CEO helps there, with its ready-made reason for him to wear suits and sport coats.
Personality
Bruce Wayne has, at his core, enough compassion to fuel the sun for the next thousand years at least. He is incapable of not caring.
He tries very hard to hide the above fact from everyone. Occasionally he’s even successful.
He knows how easy it would be for him to become the villains he fights. ‘One bad day’ is a very valid taunt; if things had gone otherwise at several points in his life he could well have become a villain himself, and some part of him lives in fear of that happening still. It’s one of – if not the primary – reason for his no-kill code.
No one is more critical of Bruce Wayne than the man himself, in either life. Bruce holds himself to standards far more rigorous than he holds anyone else to – and considering the standards he holds others to, that’s saying something.
As much as Bruce is driven by compassion, he is also still – even to this day – driven by fear. Fear of becoming that which he hates, fear of losing those he cares about; he chose fear as a weapon in his personal war because it’s something he knows intimately.
Bruce has a distinct tendency, especially during times of stress, to isolate himself and push everyone away. This is partly a misguided attempt to protect them from whatever danger may be looming, but it is also the only way he knows to protect himself. If he pushes them away, then he’s the one in control and has made the choice to remove them from his life, rather than losing them through more tragic, potentially more permanent, means. Given the choice, he would rather someone he cared for be alive and absolutely hate him than be dead no matter how they felt about him. As long as they’re alive and healthy, that’s the important thing.
Behind the myriad walls he maintains between himself and the world, Bruce is genuinely a kind, caring, soft man who – in another life – would have made an excellent doctor or teacher and a wonderful husband and father.
He trusts more easily than he will ever let on, though he is still cautious and careful about where he bestows that trust and there are still levels of trust to be worked through. It honestly doesn’t take him as long to make up his mind about someone as he makes it seem; just one more way for him to keep others at arm’s length, really.
He respects far easier than he trusts. Even some of his rogues have his respect, albeit grudgingly in some cases.
Bruce is an absolute skeptic. Yes, he knows magic exists – he’s known Zatanna since they were children – and he knows gods exist – he’s met some of them – but he is always, always, going to exhaust all mundane options before allowing himself to believe something metaphysical is going on. There may be more things in heaven and earth than are dreamed of in various philosophies, but when you hear hooves you expect horses not zebras, and certainly never unicorns.
Miscellaneous
He collects first edition books. Perhaps not as avidly now as he did in his youth, but it’s still a hobby he enjoys.
As a boy he dabbled in art, growing quite skilled for his age. That hobby died along much of his youthful exuberance and cheer that night in Park Row, though the skill remains useful for sketches of locations or suspects or other such things.
He is at least conversational in every major language on the planet – fluent in most of them – plus many less-spoken languages and dialects, as well as a handful of alien and even fictional languages.
He has mastered quite a few martial arts disciplines, and has trained in several more; he often combines these into a unique style all his own.
He intensely dislikes being called ‘Brucie’, but endures it because it maintains a necessary degree or five of separation between Civilian Life™ and his work as Batman.
Bruce is not religious; what belief he might have had in any kind of higher power was lost in a dark alley when he was eight. Yes he has since met literal gods and angels, but that gives him even less reason to believe in them. It’d be like believing in the mailman.
He is still culturally Jewish through his mother, however, and maintains a few of the habits and traditions he learned from her; there aren’t many of them, given Martha was all but entirely estranged from her family the Kanes and, to all appearances, embraced her husband’s more Christian beliefs and traditions, but they’re still there.
Bruce’s resting heart rate is somewhere around 26-30 bpm; this is largely due to his extensive physical training meaning his body has learned to optimize circulation and oxygenation.
Despite what his physician and most of Gotham’s elite are led to believe, Bruce is in fact an excellent skiier, horseman, and driver; it just so happens that all of those hobbies make for convenient excuses for those injuries he ends up forced to explain in public.
He is absolutely hopeless in the kitchen, even when following a recipe; left to his own devices with a stove this man can barely boil water. That said, he is incredible at cooking over a campfire or a charcoal/wood-fired grill. Not even he can explain why the disconnect between cooking over an open fire and cooking on a gas stove, but here we are.

You give me inspiration @cosmic-j0ke. I thought I was done but then you keep adding great tags and it gives me ideas.
I love the idea of Ma, Alfred, and Shmi teaming up. Pa's just shaking his head at the idiots who brought their anger down onto them. Most people should know better...most do but it still happens.
I don't know why I gave Steph to Bacara but I love the idea. Especially with the battalions just not letting the Batfam do anything without them.
Cal just makes me smile when I think about him just following Tim around. (Especially if you consider him being a descendant of the Joker...like the Joker gets a kick out if it for some reason.)
The shinies...the shinies would be jumping so much at first but then they're the best at not spooked by anything because of the sneaking up from the Bats. There is literally competitions on who can hold out the longest from being spooked and etc by the Bats.
I think the sidekicks would shrink. Especially the underage sidekicks. The Mandalorians and Vode might have different opinions on who's old enough but that doesn't mean the barely adults are on their own. The underage sidekicks? Are followed everywhere. The villains learn to give up if they see even a hint of the battalion color on a hero. Especially the younger ones. No one wants to die and that's a great way to do so. Yes, some of the battalions change their colors to match their hero and some of the heroes just add the battalion's color to their scheme of they don't have it already. I don't think the Alphas have a color so they add black. If they do, Bruce adds it to the batarangs and his other weapons. (More like the kids do under Alfred's eye.)
Bruce and the other adults hate the deaths but it does bring down the evil. Not all of it but enough that Earth can concentrate on the universe and protecting that also, not just Earth itself. Jason, if you can tell gets along great with the Mandalorians. He's not allowed in Space without the Wolfpack because everyone tries to adopt him....until Shmi and Ma put their feet down.
The rule of no one is allowed to adopt more then one viligante/hero comes into effect because of the batfamily. As Pa points out, the Bats are to many and most all are related so of you're adopting one, your adopting all. Which means that the battalions are even more interconnected.
Fox hates that rule. Mostly because it means the Guard are closely watched over even more. Especially since they adopted Jim which means they got Gree and etc coming in everyday, when they are close by, since Jim is worried about his daughter. No, I don't care that Jim is not a superhero in the correct sense. He's still one in the fact that he deals with Gotham and the Bats.
Hmm...I just thought of something. If Cal is the Joker's descendant, did he get fixed enough to have a kid? Well besides the one he had with Harley (is that even canon anymore?) Like, did the Jedi Healers and the Mandalorians Doctors and etc help with Arkham? Well after the 212th and 501st got it cleaned up enough to allow them in?
Oh! Is Obi-Wan a descendant of the Joker?!? Since I'm thinking him and Cal are related...so I say yes.
If we bring Bernard into it, Cal decides he's marrying both Tim and Bernard. Anakin encourages him even if Padme isn't there. Let's go with weddings are allowed as long as they put others first and other stuff. Since Tim and Cal basically follow this rule already it's a done deal for them. Bernard works as a chef, I've seen one comic panel where he is holding a pan and now I love that idea (I don't know what he does in the comics), that follows them around and he knows the risks and agrees so done deal for him also.
The rest of the heroes? Their families get bodyguards/they move because it's hard to explain why reporters and a CSI and etc have bodyguards. Well that or their identities are found out and they move.
Now I'm thinking of Gotham being the home of most the heroes, Atlantis and the Amazon Island are still left alone, since it's the home base of the Mandalorians and Vode.
The Island by the way is also watched over but no one goes on it from the Vode. Not unless the ladies want to relax and enjoy life with no one asking for anything else. I don't know what to say here really. Atlantis is harder to check on but they work it out.
I want to give Kate a battalion but I can't remember which one I wanted to give her. Kit's, or another councilor I think. Maybe Agen Kolar and Tan?
Oh! Everyone who died in the clone wars, especially the Jedi, are alive. Including the one that killed Waxer and etc, minds blank on his name. The fallen ones get help and since they don't have to worry about the Sith, who were taken out earlier remember, they can get the help they needed.
I wonder if Dooku, Maul, Ventress, Savage, and Feral are with the Sith and we're destroyed or with the Vode and Jedi? I want to say Feral is with the Vode but then I want to add Savage and Maul to them also....it might work though.
I wish I could write this but I don't think I give it as much justice as it deserves.
Finally putting this up. Had it in my head since 6/19.
Str Wars/Gotham:
If Fox was placed into the DC universe, specifically Gotham do you think he have it cleaned up within a month?
If all the Vode/Clones were placed in Gotham, along with the Jedi, do you think Gotham would be the cleanest and safest city in the world? Heck, would Bludhaven also be safe?
I got the start of a story in my head where the Vode and Jedi were dumped into Gotham. Fox is givens command of the GPD, Rex, who takes Cody with him, in charge of Arkham, Wolffe in charge of Blackgate.
The Jedi help out on the streets, the hospitals and etc. Ahsoka is the only Padawan under 18 allowed in the prisons and that’s because the Vode know that she sneak into them without permission. At least this way it’s with Anakin and Obi-Wan along or Plo, she is not allowed with her lineage or another adult Jedi. The Vode don’t count in this instance.
The younglings, cadets, and younger Padawans are only allowed out on the streets during the day before the Guard and GAR clean them up. Afterwords they are allowed out at night but have a curfew.
Jim Gordon is still the commissioner but he works closely with Fox. The Waynes by the way are away for a month, ‘on a holiday’. They’re actually helping stop an invasion. The invasion is the Sith who are actually beat by the heroes easily, Palpatine didn’t think that he be beaten. Especially by ones that don’t have the force.

Stories
Summery: Everyone has a life a past before they become someone else. Some people flaunt it and others keep their past to themselves. The boys discover something about their mom, and now all they want is to hear about what she was like before she married Bruce Wayne.
Warning: mistakes probably. Like one swear word.
A/N: This is more of an introduction more then anything. I want each story of Batmom with different people as there own chapter and not cramped into one big fic. This is also my first Batman fic so feedback with welcome! And let me know who you'd want to see!
---------
The second she walked into the manor, she took off her shoes with a sigh of relief. With the intent of a shower and some sleep, she eagerly made her way up the stairs. But luck wasn’t on her side when she heard Alfred call her name.
Sighing, she turned around and looked down as the butler walked into the hallway. “Yes Alfred?”
“I’m afraid the boys are in need of your assistance tonight,” he said, giving her a worried look. There were days where she wished she wasn’t a doctor. And long nights like tonight was one of them. But she wouldn’t change it even if she wanted to.
“Which one was hurt tonight?” she asked, as she walked down the stairs.
“Jason,” he answered, taking her coat. She gave him a smile as thanks. “But the others might need looking at as well.”
Heaving a sigh, she walked around Alfred and made her way to the Batcave. As she walked down the stairs, she heard her kids bickering over something. She didn’t have enough energy to care at the moment, so she tuned them out.
“Alright, who’s first?” she asked as she came closer to the med-bay area.
“Jason,” Bruce answered without looking up from the bat-computer. But he did take her hand and kissed the back of it when she walked past him.
“Thanks for putting me first Bruce,” Jason snarked.
“You’re the one that got shot.”
“In the shoulder!” he exclaimed. She gave a pointed look at Jason; he’s shoulders sagged and went to sit down. Nodding, she got to work as the boys continued to talk about their night of patrol.
“So, who’s the unfortunate soul tonight?” she asked, as she set up her supplies she needed.
“Joker and Harley,” Tim answered, sitting down in one of the other cots. His brothers soon followed, sighing in relief of finally sitting down.
Her hands stilled on Jason’s arm at the answer. No one seemed to notice though, all too preoccupied with their conversation. Taking a deep breath, she began to work on cleaning Jason’s wound.
“I can’t believe she got a shot in,” Jason grumbled, hissing at the sting on his arm. “I didn’t see her coming until it was too late. I should have seen it, but I don’t know what happened.”
“You underestimated her is what happened,” Bruce pointed out.
“I did not! I don’t know how I could have!” he exclaimed, pulling a face as she began stitching up the bullet wound. “She’s Joker's girl, it should have been easy.”
“But you’ve fought her before, Todd. You know what she’s capable of,” Damian mused.
“But still…”
“She’s more than just Joker’s girl,” she broke in, “and if that’s all you think about her, then you don’t know her.”
“And you do, Ma?” Jason asked, not seeing the warning look Bruce was giving him. He took his mother’s silence as an answer and continued, “that’s what she is to everyone in Gotham.”
“Well, then Gotham doesn’t know shit,” she huffed out, ignoring everyone's surprised looks. “And Gotham and everyone else seem to forget that Harley and the ‘villains of Gotham,’” she said that in a mocking tone. Jason winced as she tugged on the thread a little too harshly, but she didn’t pay much attention to it. “That they were people before becoming who they are.”
“Mom?” Tim called, realizing how sore the subject was for her. But she paid him no mind as she continued to stitch up Jason’s wound, and continued talking.
“And that some of them were victims. Sure, there are some who went down the bad path, I’ll give you that. But if it wasn’t for Joker,” she spat the name like it was a poison for her. And in some ways, it was. “Gotham wouldn’t be what it is today.”
“You can’t blame Joker for that, Mom. Gotham’s been always like this,” Dick pointed out.
“No, but I can.”
“But blaming the Joker for bringing out the villains is like blaming Batman.” Tim’s statement made her freeze as she just realized what she was talking about. She narrowed her eyes and finished off tying the stitches and stood.
“Ask Alfred if you need stitches or whatever, I’m going to bed.” With that, she ignored everyone’s, especially Bruce’s, worried gaze and left the cave.
“I’ve never seen Ummi so upset before,” Damian voiced.
“What’s wrong with her?” Jason asked, turning back to Bruce who was rubbing his face. “Bruce?”
“She knew Quinn before she became Harley,” Bruce answered, standing and making his way to the dressing rooms.
“Has to be more than that,” Dick mused, “she became heated about it.”
“That’s because she almost married Harley.”
“What?” came from all four boys, but Bruce was already gone.
A little while later, Bruce found her in an old room that used to be hers. Walking into the room, he sighed as he looked at the mess around the room. It must have been bad judging by the mess.
“Was I not worth it?” she asked, bringing Bruce’s attention to her. He found her curled up on the bed, and he could imagine she started crying after she destroyed her room. “Did I do something wrong for someone to leave me like that?”
“No, honey,” Bruce answered as he walked over to her. He bent down, maneuvered his hands underneath her knees and neck, and lifted her up. “You did nothing wrong.”
“Then why does it feel like it?” she sniffed, nestling her head in his neck as he walked out of the room and towards theirs.
“I wish I could tell you,” Bruce whispered. They’ve had this conversation occasionally. And he never knew what to say to make her feel better. But the day after, she was herself again and everything was okay.
Bruce understood the heartbreak of leaving someone behind, he understood how she felt loving someone only for them to leave. And if Bruce was honest, he was a little jealous that she still loved Harley after everything.
But he always squashed it, knowing she loved him just as much, if not more.
“I miss her,” she whispered, into his neck.
“I know.”
When he walked into their room, he set her down on the bed and moved towards the bathroom, getting the bath ready. As the tub was filling with water, Bruce moved back to the bedroom and rummaged around until he found your favourite pajama's.
After her bath, she curled into Bruce, lightly tracing shapes on his chest. Bruce ran his fingers through her hair and she leaned into his touch.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled, “I wasn’t blaming you for what happened with Harley.”
“I know. But if I recall correctly, there was a time you did,” he said, and she winced burying her face into his shirt.
“I was angry and I took it out on the wrong person. I’m sorry,” she said as her mind went back to that day they had the fight.
“I know, and I’ve forgiven you for it.” Silence fell between the two of them, but it didn’t last long when the door was thrown open. She lifted your head to see Dick, Jason, Tim and Damian standing there.
“You were going to marry Harley Quinn?” Dick all but shouted in disbelief. She hummed, dropping her head back down. The boys rushed into the room and jumped on the bed, crowded the two of them. “But you loved Bruce!”
“That is a story for a different day,” she mumbled out.
“How’d you meet?” Tim asked instead of pushing for the story. “Are there anyone else you knew before they became villains?”
“Med school and yes.”
“Who?” Damien asked.
She squinted her eyes as she thought. “…most of them maybe?”
They gawked at her, waiting for her to elaborate. When it became apparent that she wasn’t, the four of them bombarded her with questions, all talking over her.
“Okay that’s enough,” Bruce voiced out, and they became quiet. She patted his chest, and moved around so she was looking at her sons.
“I used to work for Penguin in his club back in school, I needed help with an assignment, so I found Nygma. Ivy was a patient of mine when I started residency. Dent was a friend and so was Selina. I also went to school with Crane. I was friends with Nora Fries, that’s how I knew Mr. Freeze.”
“What about the Joker?” Jason asked.
“No,” she stated, voice firm. Everyone shared a look, confirming that their mother was not the biggest fan of the Joker. She softened a little and offered her a smile before saying, “it’s been a long night. How about, when I feel up for it, I’ll tell you all about my friendships?”
They lit up, each giving her a kiss and rushed out the door. Talking to one another as they tried to figure out which story they wanted to hear first.
“Are you sure you’re up for that?” Bruce asked, as she snuggled into him again. She let out a yawn and nodded.
“Yeah, I’m sure,” she answered. “I just wonder who they’re going to ask for first.”

“BNHA: Bakugou Visits Gotham” ? I don’t know if he’ll be arrested or adopted or both!
This is the start of a collab fic. It's in chat-ish fragments.
SUMMARY: Tim Drake is Batman. Bakugo is visiting Gotham. He's going to impress the American heroes with his amazing quirk.
At least, that's his plan.  Nobody warned him that super-powered plans often don't work as expected in Gotham.
---
Aizawa set the whole thing up. Contacted Tim and said, I have a student with a lot of potential, but he thinks quirk strength defines a hero or villain. What would you say to a work study?
Jason accepted for him.
"Hey Replacement, one of your buddies from across the pond is sending some brat over here to learn real hero-ing. I offered to send Damian in exchange, but he wouldn't trade."
Nobody has told Bakugou that Batman is quirkless.
**
“So what’s your quirk? Super intelligence? Bat powers?”
"I'm rich."
“No, seriously, what’s your quirk?”
"I'm told I have a quirky smile. Well, actually, no, I haven't been told that. Nobody likes my smile. Now shut up and look over the files I have on all the other heroes and villains in the area.”
“Oh my god I’m working under Deku”
**
Meeting Damian:
"I usually just kill assholes like you, but out of politeness to Alfred, I'll leave you alive. No promises about keeping all your body parts."
Tim: "There will be NO DEATH MATCHES in the Batcave. No almost-death matches, either. Damian, do not maim my guest. Bakugo... eh, whatever, have fun, and good luck."
Bakugo getting so pissed that obviously everyone thinks he'd lose.
**
Bakugo facing off against Nightwing for a sparring match in the cave. "I get to take the Batmobile out for a spin when I win."
Tim, working at the computer: *snort* "If you can land a hit on him, I will give you a Batmobile."
(Bakugo does not come home with a Batmobile.)
“How are you doing that? There’s no way the human body can bend like that! ...He has a flexibility quirk, doesn't he? That can't be quirkless. Human bones can't do that."
“No, we’ve all been tested by the best doctors in the world. Besides Bruce had a code, no quirks in Gotham”
"Then why the fuck am I here?"
"Because maybe it's time to update the code. But maybe not; your quirk isn't helping you much."
"What are you talking about, my quirk is THE BEST! Just STAND STILL you fucking jumping bean!"
**
Kirishima: “so Bakubro, how was America. Man I can’t believe you got so lucky”
"It's like a whole damn country of shitty Dekus. Working with Deku. Fighting against Deku. Deku going shopping. Evil Deku trying to steal things. NOBODY HAS QUIRKS AND THEY ALL SUCK."

Stomach Bug Ch10
Doctor’s Visit
Alright I am back with another chapter and with this I bring something special. I want all of you to help me decide what our lovely Mari will be having so place your votes in the poll.
LINK REMOVED
Thank you to everyone who voted I’ll be using the results gathered and I hope everyone’s happy with what the final tally was.
~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.
“Damian’s not home right?” Tim asked, making his way into the Batcave where all the other bats sans Damian were sitting around the computer.
“No, tomorrow’s pixies first appointment with that new doctor so he decided to stay the night to give her moral support since she’s never been to a gyno before.” Jason said looking up from the files he was reading over, “honestly from what I’ve heard about what happens during those exams I don’t blame her for wanting a little support before going.”
“It’s all routine and can’t be any worse than the baby-making process.” Dick hummed typing away on the computer.
“I think that’s enough talk about that; why did you want to know Tim?” Bruce asked looking over at his second youngest.
“I found more info on Marinette thought I’d share with you all while Damian wasn’t here to stop me or compromise the data,” he explained walking over to the bat computer connecting his laptop to it.
The other men all sat silently around waiting for Tim to begin his presentation as he sorted through different encrypted files before bringing up a few pictures. “To begin her original name was Marinette Dupain-Cheng and her parents were bakers back in France, Tom Dupain and Sabine Cheng,” Tim said pointing them out.
“Marinette told me they essentially kicked her out,” Bruce said crossing his arms, “They believed the words of some liar and threw her out. She lived with a friend her last year in Paris before moving here.”
“Wait, hold on,” Dick said turning to Bruce, “Her parents kicked her out when she was still a minor? Isn’t that illegal?”
“Yes, and they knew that, she mentioned that when she told her grandmother she came and took custody from her parents, who seemed more than happy to hand it over, and let her stay to finish out that school year with a friend then moved here to finish out her schooling.” Bruce nodded.
“Yeah that all tracks to what I found,” Tim nodded, showing them documents next, “I have here the transfer of custody, her transcript for moving here, as well as the adoption papers for Ivy and Harley. I also went ahead and started running some background checks on the people still in her phone.” he added typing away.
“Anyone, we should be worried about?” Jason asked leaning back in his seat content to just watching Tim work, “She told me a bit about one of her friends’ guy seemed a bit sketch when he was a Paris hero though now I think he’s meh but never got a name from her.”
“You said he was one of the heroes?” Tim asked looking over at Jason.
“Yeah, she said he gave up his miraculous after the fight because his dad was the villain and he didn’t think Ladybug would want anything to do with him if she found out who he was so he bit the bullet and gave it up. He left Paris shortly after to live with his aunt.” Jason said looking around at the others.
“If the villain were outed then it’d be easy to find out who his son was,” Tim said, turning back to the computer the clicking of keys filling the Batcave as he searched through multiple French websites. The other three just watched as screen after screen flew by before settling on a trashy tabloid-like website.
“I don’t think this is what could be considered a credible source Timmy,” Dick winced looking over all the clickbait titles and the like to dislike ratio on the articles.
“No, but it does have quite a bit on the Paris heroes,” Tim said scrolling through to articles that had more likes and seemed of better quality, “here we go, Hawkmoth Defeated: How a Recluse Held Paris Hostage.”
The four men all leaned forward reading through the article that detailed the final battle between Hawkmoth and the Paris Heroes with a written description of what happened as well as a video that seemed to have been taken from a mix of sources and spliced together. The article detailed what Hawkmoth had been doing for three years and in the end, revealed him and his accomplice to be Gabriel Agrest and his assistant Nathalie Sancoeur.
“So we know that Gabriel Agrest was the big bad so who was his kid?” Jason asked as Tim typed away.
“Adrien Agrest, teen model for the Agrest Fashion Label. Looks like after his dad got taken down he had to go through months of interrogations and court hearings just to prove his innocence. His mother was found dead in the Agrest Mansion and with no one else it looks like his aunt took him in once he was cleared.” Tim said reading through the files he dug up.
“That would mean he probably gave his miraculous to Pixie right after he was cleared. If he was going to do something sketch he’d just hold onto it.” Jason said.
“He probably was so messed up after the battle he didn’t want any connection to the miraculous I mean his father turned evil because of them.” Dick hummed crossing his arms.
The four fell silent as they took in the information they had received, “Well Tim you got anything on that liar?” Jason asked, tilting his head.
“This whole blog is about that liar.” Tim said motioning to the tabloid, “I’ll email you guys the link and read it at your own pace there is years of garbage on here.”
“Then with that, I think we should all be heading out. We'll go over more of what Tim found later for now we should get to work,” Bruce said, getting to his feet and moving to change into his costume.
The other three nodded as Tim packed up his laptop and stored it away before they all got dressed and took their way out of the cave to begin their nightly rounds.
~.~.~.~
“So what do you think they found?” Marinette asked cuddled up to Damian's side on her bed with the hyenas crowded around them on either side resting their heads over their laps, “Chloe didn’t exactly hold back on mentioning certain names.”
“I would be surprised if Drake didn’t have an entire dossier on all your friends.” Damian said rubbing Marinette’s back, “You know he probably took all your contact info right?”
“Yeah oh well,” she shrugged turning to bury her face into his neck, “They were bound to find out eventually, might as well let some of the greatest detectives around have some fun piecing my life together.”
Damian hummed closing his eyes as he relaxed back into the plush pillows covering Marinette’s bed, “Are you nervous about tomorrow?” he asked.
“A little,” she sighed tightening her grip on his shirt, “Mum told me what to expect and said she’d sit in the room with me if I wanted her to, you can’t exactly join me since we can’t have this whole thing getting out.”
“I’ll be waiting here for you when you get home don’t worry,” he said kissing her forehead, “now try to get some sleep you barely got any at the manor.”
Marinette nodded letting out a deep sigh as she shifted around to get comfortable between Damian and the hyenas. Eventually, she settled down and dozed off into a dreamless sleep with Damian rubbing her back and the familiar weight of Bud’s head on her hip.
Damian stayed up for a bit longer listening to the quiet sounds around and thinking over what to do for the next day. He eventually made his way into a dreamless sleep as well a bit after one AM when he finally managed to shut his mind off.
~.~.~.~
“Marigold are you ready?” Ivy called from the kitchen as she looked through her back to make sure she had everything.
“Almost,” Marinette said, coming out in a comfortable knit sweater and skinny jeans, “I was looking for my purse. I think Lou took it,” she said, looking around in the usual spots for her bag.
“I’ll keep your wallet and Tiki in my bag we have to get going,” Ivy said, grabbing Marinette’s wallet off the counter and stowing it in her bag as Tiki flew over and settled into the bag as well giving Ivy a nod to close the bag once she was comfortable.
Marinette nodded and went back to her room grabbing her phone quickly checking it before putting it away in her pocket and leaned down kissing Damian’s cheek as he groaned slowly blinking his eyes open. “I’m leaving I’ll text you when we’re on our way back.”
“Okay habibti call me if you need me.” he yawned reaching up and pulled her down for a kiss, “good luck with your appointment I’ll see you after.”
Marinette nodded kissing him again as Ivy shouted for Marinette that they were leaving. She gave Damian another quick peck on the lips before pulling back and ran out to meet Ivy at the door. “Had to get my phone.” she smiled stepping out of the apartment and waited as Ivy locked up and ushered down to the cab waiting outside.
“Now remember Marigold just relax and everything will go smoothly, it will be uncomfortable but it won’t hurt okay.” Ivy said, settling into the cab beside Marinette and rubbing her back, “I can sit inside the room with you if need me to.”
“I think I’ll be okay,” Marinette said, taking a few calming breaths as they made their way to the doctor’s office. Once they arrived Marinette was starting to look a little green as they went through the check-in process and filled out their info.
Waiting for her name to be called felt like an eternity and her stomach was twisting into knots as she watched other women come and go through the office. Marinette sat there twisting her fingers in her sweater and took slow deep breaths trying to calm herself when the door opened, “Marinette?” a nurse called.
Marinette shot up her face going from pale to a deep red as she made her way to the nurse. The nurse smiled and ushered her inside and went about getting her blood pressure, “Hmm little elevated but I think it could just be your nerves.” the nurse smiled, and her height and weight.
“Alright girly so here’s your room I’m going to need you to completely strip down underwear and all then put this paper gown on opening to the front and here’s a privacy blanket for your legs.” the nurse said motioning to the items on the bed, “the doctor will be in here shortly.”
Marinette nodded as the nurse closed the door leaving her alone, “It’s just a check-up.” Marinette mumbled undressing and taking her time to carefully fold her clothes and set them on the table in the corner of the room. She put on the provided gown and settled on the table keeping her phone clenched tightly in her hand as she waited for the doctor to arrive.
It felt like an eternity when there was a knock at the door and the doctor stepped in, a petite redhead with a smattering of freckles covering her pale face, “Hello Miss Marinette I’m Doctor Amelia.” she smiled coming over to shake Marinette’s hand, “I see you’re here for a wellness exam and you’re expecting.”
“Uh yes,” Marinette coughed her voice, cracking a bit from her nerves, “I uh just found out a few weeks ago.” she blushed, gripping the paper blanket covering her legs.
Doctor Amelia nodded looking over the file, “This is your first-ever wellness exam yes?” she asked, taking a seat.
Marinette nodded keeping her head bowed trying to not let her nerves take over her.
“Okay sweetie we’ll go at your pace so just relax okay.” Doctor Amelia smiled setting the file aside and grabbed her stethoscope.
~.~.~.~
The entire exam didn’t take more than five minutes before the doctor was cleaning up and stepping out to give Marinette some privacy to redress. Marinette wasted no time pulling her clothes back on and sending Damian a text saying, ‘Making this baby was less violating than that.’ before putting her phone in her pocket as there was another knock, “Miss Marinette if you're ready you can go to the front and schedule the next appointment.” Doctor Amelia said through the door.
Marinette walked over opening the door her face still a bit flushed, “Okay uh when should I come back next?” she asked.
“I think in a month should be enough time and we should be able to hear the heartbeat by then.” she smiled, “Your moms waiting for you upfront, and here’s the card to one of my nurses if you have any questions feel free to call her okay.”
“Thank you.” Marinette nodded, taking the card and quickly went to the front to meet back up with Ivy and schedule the next appointment and made their way out to walk back home.
“I think we should pick up some breakfast.” Ivy smiled putting a hand on Marinette’s shoulder as they walked. “There’s a nice little bakery around the corner should we pick up something from there?”
“Yeah, that sounds good.” Marinette nodded following Ivy down to the bakery and got in line looking over the different pastries they had for sale. Between the two of them, they picked out an array of sweet and savory options with Marinette making sure to pick out some vegetarian options for Damian. Soon they were walking out with two large bags and were walking down the street back to their home.
Upon entering both had to hold their bags of treats high out the reach of Bud and Lou trying hard to reach the goodies hidden away. Harley quickly came over pulling them back by their collars so the two could set the bags down in the kitchen.
Damian was settled at the table and got up coming over to help them unpack as Harley got some coffee and tea going as they all settled down to enjoy a bit of a late breakfast. Marinette ate her croissants and fruit danish taking small bites so as not to upset her stomach any further. The small group spoke of anything and everything as they enjoyed their meal. Harley taking the time to pick out the meat from her sandwich to give to the two hyenas and Damian holding a small conversation with Tiki as she munched on the cookies Marinette picked out.
“So when are you going back?” Harley asked looking over at Marinette as she bit into her bagel.
“In a month, the doctor said we should be able to hear the heartbeat by then,” Marinette said, finishing off her danish, “I don’t know if I’m ready.”
“You’ll be fine Marigold we’re here for you every step.” Ivy smiled ruffling her hair, “Now I think you should go lay down, maybe settle your stomach and your nerves. You were looking a bit green and tense after your appointment.”
Marinette nodded, finishing her tea and croissant before heading back to her room to lay down. Damian finished off his breakfast quickly and excused himself before following Marinette leaving the two sirens and the small goddess at the table.
“At least he’s good for our little Mari.” Harley hummed sipping her coffee, “So long as he makes her happy he can stick around I guess but not too sure I forgive him for knocking our baby up.”
“Oh, now you don’t like him?” Ivy chuckled, raising her eyebrow at her.
“Oh, I adore the kid but you know one of us has to give him the shovel talk eventually.” Harley chuckled getting up to clean the dishes and put the leftovers away.

Replying to @kine-iende [hope this works and you see it, still trying to get the hang of how tags work] who said:
Thank you, author-person, for this incredible detailed answer. (Also i don't mind being tagged - or not) With Tony being so aware of the dynamic between those rivals, Justin ending as a villian is less going a betrayal from almost-family and more of a 'natural phenomen' he should have seen coming. Because as always:rivals ^^
.
To be completely honest, if this AU were a tv show the ‘Justin Hammer accidentally founded Cabal’ reveal would’ve been the huge plot twist revealed at the end of either Season 2 or 3, and it’d be a major shocker for the Avengers...but not Tony.
also just realized I somehow made an AU where the protagonist basically becomes a villain out of Spite™ and I’m not sure if that’s the weakest origin story ever, or what
After all, if this were a tv show, it’d be centered around the Avengers, and the main season one conflict would be in seeing how Tony fits in the team— which would get resolved eventually, but not before the audience gets a good look at their dynamics. Like, the chemistry between Iron Man and Captain America, how easily and seamlessly they work together without needing more than a word or two because they’re on the same page, or Tony’s cordial yet distant academic respect for Bruce [which gets contrasted with Iron Man’s uncharacteristic instant bromance with the Hulk], or... well, the list goes on.
Not to mention that having a common enemy alters their dynamic as time goes on, because while if this’d been a one-off things would’ve still been rocky between Tony and the team, whereas having to constantly coordinate because new intel indicates that their last enemy was actually connected to something bigger and that means even more teamwork...
So by this point they’ve got a good idea of their characters, how they roll, how they react under pressure and during downtime and throughout all this, Justin Hammer would make cameos because he’s SHIELD’s main weapons supplier [...among other groups, which in and of itself foreshadows some of his shadier connections later on] and between him and Tony, they’ve basically cornered the market on experts in that field— which comes in handy when we’re talking about alien tech.
Justin wouldn’t get much screentime compared to the others, but enough for the Avengers [and the audience] to see he makes for a very good foil for Tony, with their differences being highlighted all the more due to the similarities. After all, both come across as good people: Tony’s very friendly to anyone who isn’t on his shit list, and Justin acts very polite and gentlemanly to strangers [and is 100% a mom friend to anyone he cares about]. Tony’s a hero, though, while Justin’s long since made it clear he was a businessman first and foremost.
Through all this, Justin and Tony’s dynamic is intentionally kept vague— one moment they’re perfectly friendly, the next they'll be at each others’ throats and, again, sometimes can get misinterpreted as something else.
Then the Reveal happens, and suddenly all those past encounters and hints come up and it’s so obvious in retrospect but—
Who would’ve expected it?
Tony.
Tony’s the only one who’s not surprised by what the latest intel’s hinting at, obtained from an intel broker who turned up dead not long after [...because said broker’d also been messing with HYDRA, but that’s the plot twist that comes up in the next season]: nothing specific, nothing concrete, but something that ties a good chunk of the previous Villains Of The Week together to reveal a far, far greater threat.
The Cabal, and while some of its members have long since become familiar names— e.g. the Fantastic Four normally are the ones who have to deal with Victor Von Doom, but not always— its founder had been a mystery for the longest time. A mystery that has just been ended, except nobody could have expected to see the name on the file.
Everyone else’s caught flat-footed and going through several permutations of ‘oh shit’, meanwhile Tony just leans back, scrubs a hand down his face, and looks out the window with a low whistle.
“Well played, Justin. Well played.”
.
Which is when the audience learns more about their very strange dynamic, which gets revealed to have started out a rivalry during their childhood [and has now basically escalated to the most high-stakes game of chicken there ever was, but shh].
Here’s the thing: if Tony were to call their rivalry off, Justin would stop.
But...
Tony can count on one hand how many positive constants he’s had in his life: Jarvis’ [and, after his heart attack, JARVIS’] presence, and his rivalry. Those are the two things that’ve been there for him through thick and thin, the only two safe places where he knows where they stand, knows they won’t try and tear him down and that means something.
JARVIS will never leave him [not this Jarvis, at least], but... this rivalry’s been a thing since before he met Rhodey, since before his parents died and Tony’s not entirely certain just how much it’s shaped him, but he can count on one hand how many people give a damn about him and want to see him succeed and—
Tony’s not sure he has it in him to call it off. Not at this point.
Not when part of him knows why he did it, because— well, every superhero needs an adversary, don’t they? For a moment, he’d been surprised Justin had the guts to do this, but it makes complete sense the more he thinks about it and Tony knows just how little respect Justin has for the others, of course he’d be the type of guy who’d go “ugh, fine, if you want something done right, gotta do it yourself”.
.
also, before this all seems very one-sided, I think I forgot to mention that Justin’s really benefiting from this rivalry too— not as obvious early on, but it gives him something to focus on and work towards.
Something that kept him from depression when he thought too much about his past life and discovered just how much he’d forgotten, was still forgetting, something to keep him from being bored when he looked up one day and realized— he didn’t actually have any goals in this life, did he?
Not when his life thus far had been dictated by his parents, and he’d been okay with following along to their script for him because if it wasn’t him, it’d be his sister or an innocent child who’d be forced to live up to their impossibly high expectations as the heir to Hammer Industries... but it was something he was resigned to at this point, not something he was particularly happy about.
This time, he... didn’t know what he wanted in life. Nor did he remember what he’d wanted last time— had they wanted to be a doctor? Teacher? Writer? They didn’t remember anymore— and it’s startling to realize that he couldn’t remember the last time he’d smiled if he wasn’t talking to his little sister.
Justin’s never been one to seek out the approval of the adults in his life— the fact that he was surrounded by Parents of the Year [note the sarcasm] probably had something to do with that— and remembering a past life means he sees everyone his physical age and lower as kids, so he doesn’t see many people as equals.
...and then Tony decided he’d like having a rival.
At first, yeah, it was confusing; even as an adult, Justin didn’t entirely get why, but it was. Something.
Something good, and gets even better because this is something they both decided, that had nothing to do with the meticulously-annotated plan his parents had for his life, and while at first it was weird, Justin found he was actually enjoying himself [for once].
To the point where he found himself actually getting honestly, genuinely invested in said rivalry, and if he sometimes found himself trying to drill self-care into Tony sometimes, well, those bags under his eyes made them look bad, okay? It was self-interest, nothing more, really!
Really.
So when Tony went and became a superhero, Justin found himself taking a step back for a moment as he paused to consider his actions.
Paused before taking the plunge, because this was it, was serious, was pushing the limit and going past the point of no return. Was he really willing to do this?
A moment to consider things, deliberate on the possible consequences and what could happen— then he gave a sharp, decisive nod.
“Yes, we’re doing this.”

Congrats on the engagement part 2
So this took longer than expected so without further do let's go
Omg that sounded like a intro youtubers do
First part
When they stopped they saw a building on fire. It turned out to be Marinette's boutique. Of course, she had money and could easily rebuild it if she wanted to. But the miracle box along with the kwamis and the grimoire was still inside. And they were irreplaceable since they were the last ones in the world. Once Marinette had that horrifying realization, she ran inside while Damian tried to stop her. But she was, unfortunately, too fast. Of course, Damian ran inside after her to try to get her out of there before she got hurt.
When Marinette went inside, she started looking for the miracle box. A piece of wood fell right where Marinette was about to pass by and by sheer luck she missed it. She continued walking and when she finally got to the second floor she saw the book and the kwamis were panicking since they couldn’t use Longg powers to turn off the fire. Once they saw Marinette, they were glad but scared of what she was doing inside a building that was on fire. They were gods they couldn’t die.
Meanwhile, Damian tried to get past the firefighters but they wouldn’t let him go. He kept yelling and telling the firefighters to let go of him because his fiancé was in there. Finally, after more struggling against their grip, he ran inside the building looking for Marinette
Too preoccupied about finding Marinette, he did not see the floorboard that was about to fall, and it fell on him knocking him unconscious.
Once Marinette collected the miracle box and the grimoire, she started to cough because she had inhaled way too much smoke. When she saw Damian on the floor unconscious she panicked and tried to pick him. She failed a few times until she finally got a good grip on him and picked him up and put his arm around her shoulder and started dragging him out.
She was coughing more and more, but she was determined to get out of there. When they got out Marinette was having trouble breathing and the paramedics started helping her immediately while the firefighters were still trying to contain the fire. Once they saw Damian they put him inside another ambulance and rushed him to the hospital.
Marinette was having even more trouble, so once they got her into a stretcher they gave her an oxygen mask . Even with the oxygen mask, Marinette was still having trouble breathing, so the paramedics were rushing to get her inside the hospital.
No matter how fast they tried to get to the hospital, they couldn’t because there was a villain attack happening and they couldn’t pass and the police denied them access even after they had told them they had a patient that needed to get to the hospital as soon as possible.
Damian got into the ambulance he did not get caught up in the attack. Once he got there he was immediately checked to see if he had a concussion after the piece of wood fell on top of him. He did happen to have a severe concussion so they put him in a room by himself and waited until he would wake up.
Meanwhile, the Bats had finally managed to stop the attack so the ambulance could finally pass. They never knew that the ambulance that got caught up was the one where their future sister-in-law and future daughter in law was in.
Marinette was still having trouble breathing even with the mask due to how many smoke fumes she had inhaled. The paramedics were trying everything for her to not close her eyes but Marinette could barely stay awake. Once they got to the hospital they rushed her in because she also had severe burns. Before they could treat her, she died from all the smoke inhalation.
The doctors could do nothing but cover her with a white sheet and contact her family to let them know what had happened.
On the other side of the city, Alfred picked up a phone call expecting to hear anything else but “HelIo, this is Alice from Gotham hospital. I am contacting you because your grandson, Damian Wayne, has been hospitalized.”
On the other side of the world, two loving parents received the worst news that no parent wants to hear. “We are sorry to let you know that your daughter, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, has been declared dead.” Once they heard those dreaded words, they broke down crying.
Once Alfred informed the rest of the family, they all rushed to the cave to take off their suits and rush to the hospital. They got inside the car and passed the speed limits; they didn’t care if they got in trouble their son, brother, and grandson was in the hospital for who knows what. Only for Sabine to call them in tears, saying that Marinette had passed away and that they had no idea how to tell Damian. They were in shock. That meant that while Damian was in the hospital, Marinette had died. And the problem was they had no idea how to tell Damian that his fiancé had died.
They got to the hospital and rushed to the front desk and everyone immediately started asking for Damian Wayne and what room he was located in and what had happened. The front receptionist got overwhelmed and told them to quiet down and that Damian was on the second-floor, room 404. They all got into the elevator, immediately pressing the second-floor button. After a minute they got to the second floor and looked immediately for room 404.
Once they found the door, they found Damian laying in bed still unconscious, they all felt bad for when he woke up they had to tell him the tragic news.
Bruce was pacing back and forth wondering what had happened that Damian had to end up in the hospital and Marinette had died.
The kwamis and the grimoire had still been in Marinette's hands when she got out of the building, so they took those belongings with them and put them in a bag for the patient's relatives or someone close to them could pick them up.
Jason got tired of waiting to know what had happened to Marinette so he left the room and got into the elevator and went up to the front desk. Unfortunately, they told him unless he was a family member or was one of her emergency contacts they could not give him private information. Jason, while frustrated and on the verge of tears, didn’t want to scream at the receptionist for she was just doing her job. He went to Damian’s room again only to find everyone crying except Bruce, but you could tell he wanted to cry.
It was already too late so the nurse had to ask them to leave, but if someone wanted to stay they could. Of course, Dick offered to stay while Alfred took the rest of them back home.
The next day, Damian woke up and could barely open his eyes due to the light inside the room.
Dick noticed right away when Damian woke up and started fretting over him, but pushed the nurse button alerting them so they would know that Damian had woken up.
“Grayson, where is Marinette?” was the first thing Damian asked. Dick was having trouble on how to tell him what had happened to Marinette. Damian got up from the bed and started walking out of the room when Dick grabbed him from the arm and stopped him from leaving.
Damian started pulling his arm out of Dick’s grasp but Dick would not let him go. “Grayson, let me go I need to look for Marinette!” Damian yelled.
“I’m sorry, Damian, but I can’t let you go.”
Damian was getting frustrated. He just wanted to see his fiancé and find out if she had gotten out okay, but Grayson was keeping him from doing that and he had no idea why. Finally, the nurse came in and told Damian he had to sit or lie down so she could check him again.
Damian listened to the nurse and sat down, but he still wanted to go look for Marinette. Once she finished checking up on him, she told him he was free to go home. Damian, of course, immediately went out to look for Marinette. Dick went after him so Damian would have support once he found out. That’s when it hit Damian that he did not know what room Marinette was in, so he and Dick took the elevator and, once they got to the main floor, he asked the receptionist if he knew where Marinette Dupain Cheng was. The receptionist asked Damian what relationship he has with her.
“She is my fiancé,” Damian answered.
“Do you have proof of what you are claiming?” the receptionist asked.,
Damian was getting frustrated at this point but asked Dick if he could borrow his phone because Dick had tons of pictures of them together. Dick unlocked his phone and scrolled through his camera roll to find a decent and recent picture of Damian and Marinette together.
The receptionist took one look at the photo and looked at Damian with pity. She then looked at Dick and, without actually speaking, asked him who was going to tell him.
Finally, Dick decided that he needed to tell Damian.
“Damian, I have to tell you something.”
“What is it, Grayson?”
“So we got a call from Marinette’s parents, and I don’t know how to tell you this...”
“Just spit it out, Grayson! Tell me what happened to Marinette!”
“Baby bird-”
“Grayson, what happened to Marinette?” Damian asked, frustrated.
“Baby bird, after she got you out of the building, something happened to her and-”
“And what, Grayson?”
“I’m sorry, Damian, but Marinette died,” Dick finally managed to tell Damian.
Damian stood there in shock. He couldn’t believe it.
“Grayson, please tell me you’re joking,” Damian said, shaking Dick.
Dick looked at his baby brother, who was on the verge of tears and just pulled him into a hug.
Damian started sobbing. He couldn’t believe that Marinette, his angel, the love of his life, was gone.
“No, Grayson, this can’t be! Marinette can’t be gone, not like this, not her,” Damian cried.
And Dick held him the whole time as he cried

Jerome x female reader (part 5)
Warnings: mentions of violence and murder, depression
Word count: 3378
*Later that day at the charity*
"Already excited for my show, doll?" Jerome grinned through his magician costume. you hated that costume. It hid Jerome's beautiful face with a shitty beard, his hairs were under a stupid wig and a black cylinder. And that tuxedo...gosh, you hated it thought not as much as the wig or the fake beard. The worst on it was his name...'Rodolfo'. You were disgusted by that name.
No magician in that universe would ever call himself like that! It sounds so ridiculous!
"Of course! Though I already know you'll be amazing as always." You smirked pressing a kiss on his cheek "Give them the best show they've ever seen!"
"That ain't be a problem for me" Jerome grinned "Even Hundini wouldn't have seen such a great show." You giggled at his comment.
"Without further ado, please allow me to present you the Great Rodolfo!" Immediately, Jerome walked on stage, everyone was applauding - even you. You were excited for how he was acting as a magician. Of course, you knew he was doing it well anyway. Jerome was professional. He could play every role in this Earth perfectly!
"Ha! Greetings ladies and germs," Jerome walked on stage "I am indeed the Great Rodolfo! Please ogle my lovely assistant. Ohh, for my first act, I'll require a volunteer. Let me see. Duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, duck, goose!" Jerome pointed at Bruce Wayne, the richest orphan in Gotham that was hated by every villain - really, everyone wanted to kill him.
"Hello, young man. Does this handsome gentleman have a name?" You heard Jerome saying after she went out to the crowd to bring him back.
"Bruce." The boy responded.
"Bruce! Well, Bruce. This won't hurt a bit." He clapped two great blades together "Is there a doctor in the house?"
Jerome sticked one of the blades in the box along with the other one. The audience gasped, them applauded him.
While watching you were astonished about Jerome's well, acting. Nobody noticed it was him. Neither Bruce nor the other guests recognized anything. Almost unbelievable for you.
"Some people say Bruce has a split personality." Jerome laughed loud while Barbara brought the little kid back to his actual place "For my next illusion, I'd like to call to the stage esteemed Deputy Major Harrison Kane."
Barbara pushed a rolling table, covered with a tarp, forward that it stood in front of Jerome. She pulled the tarp back and you could see any kind of knives laying down there. You were thinking about what was coming next. Is Jerome still playing with him or is he about to kill that guy?
Barbara bended down making the others noticed the next illusion was incoming. But a mistake happened, her mask fell down.
They're fucked!! You thought panicking. If anyone of the guests recognized them, they all would have a big problem. People would call the police, others die, the police finds you and eventually become informed about Theo, as well.
But Barbara kept being professional. Nobody made a move to start panicking or to call the police. Everything stayed normal.
"By the way, nobody is getting out here alive." At first the crowd laughed because they thought he was just joking - of course, he did not. Jerome killed the Deputy and the gunfire started. People were screaming and hiding in hope they weren't the next victim.
You flinched a little in surprise, although you might have expected it. Who would Jerome not kill expect you? He killed his mother, now the Deputy Major...it was just a matter of time to see who was his next victim.
For you, that all was pretty exciting, but also a big feeling of unpleasantness came over you. This situation reminded you of the day Jerome kidnapped you. You had flashbacks. You fear, you uncomfortableness, the nervousness, the wish to go home...everything came back - you knew best how the victims felt right now, and.
And as the last time, something told you that this situation wouldn't turn out well.
You wanted to be with Jerome right now. You just wanted to hug him, you wouldn't care whether he liked it or not, you just needed it.
But you couldn't go to him. You promised him to stay backstage to watch his marvellous show. And you knew, as everyone else knew what would happen if you broke the promise. His mood would change again and you needed to see whether it would turn out well for you or not.
You just stared at your lover. Finally he took the cylinder from his head as the wig, his black mask and the beard. Finally he presented himself again. You couldn't help but smile. You saw him being excited, being happy. He was the star in the show as he was the boss. You loved to see this: him standing there calm and managing everything while around him was pure chaos.
He was so professional you thought.
Out of nowhere, another woman was brought on stage, it was Lee Tompkins.
She was handhuffed, her gaze expressed fear and panicking.
They probably have taken her from behind as she was about to call the cops to tell what was going on.
You saw Jerome gazing at her with a smile - immediately, you hated her. You hated how you Jerome looked at her, how he smiled at her. It looked the same as every time he was smiling at you.
"Hey, darling" You felt shivers down your spine and jealousy came over you as he said that, you hated when Jerome was acting kinda flirty with other women. You always got the feeling they'd be much better than you but you also that your thoughts are wrong "I need to borrow your phone for a moment. We wanna tell Jimbo how the show's going on, don't we?"
And so he called him:
"Sorry Jimbo, it's just little old me!" He said nothing for a moment, then "Are you outside? You are, aren't you?" He cackled" Oh, goody!"
"Breathe, James. I haven't touched a hair on your girlfriend's pretty head." See for yourself. This is live television after all." You heard Jerome laughing after he responded to 'Jimbo'.
Then Jerome and Barbara tied Lee up on that big wheel pretending to shoot her head. It was all to entertain the crowd, to make them love. No one loved though - besides you. You loved their show. It entertained you and you loved to see your lover in action.
"True, but not the point. Hey, let's talk about what I want." Jerome walked down the stage closer to the camera "$47 million, a helicopter, obviously, the dry cleaning I left at Mr. Chang's be careful, the man is a crook, and mm, I don't know, a pony. Uh, you got ten minutes or I start killing people. Remember this is being broadcast to every home in Gotham, so, don't let people die. Bye!" Jerome laughed into the phone as he hung up "I think that went well." Jerome looked at you giving you a wink with a smile.
"Enough! You need to pack up your pathetic little sideshow and leave!" You suddenly heard Theo yelling from the other side of the stage. You were confused. What was he doing here? He told them to do this! Or did this still belong to the show?
"Is that right?" Jerome asked with a smirk.
"It may be presumptuous to speak for all citizens of Gotham. But we are sick of you! You're a small, vicious man with a pathetic need for attention. Enough man, for God's sake, enough!"
You were even more confused about Galavan's words. Something was in the bush. In his tower he spoke in high claims of Jerome that he was the star in the show, that he trusted Jerome most that he'll do it. What was wrong now?
"I'm curious what your leverage is here, Mr.?"
"Theo Galavan"
"Well, Mr. Theo Galavan, if you don't sit down, uh, I'm gonna shoot you. In your face."
"I know there is some human decency left in you. If you need a hostage, take me. But let these people go home! To their families, to their children." Before Theo could continue his speech, Barbara knocked him out with a some kind of pan. You giggled for yourself, almost laughed loud. It looked so stupid for you how he fell on the ground. It was like in a real blockbuster.
"Boring" Barbara stated.
"Right" Jerome cackled loudly, then he made his way to you with a big grin in his face. Automatically you grinned, too.
"How do you like the show doll?" Jerome grabbed your hands and pulled you close to him. You felt a slightly blush spreading over your cheeks as he pressed his lips against yours. His hands grabbed your cheeks softly to intense the kiss.
"I love it! It's very exciting" You grinned wrapping your arms around his neck while he wrapped his arms around your waist "But I'm much happier about you not wearing this cruel costume anymore. It covered your face, I hated it."
Jerome just chuckled about your comment and kissed your forehead.
"I have an idea," You just raised your brows looking at him in interest "Wanna be the star in my show?"
"Of course I do!" You smiled wide before he pressed his lips against yours quickly, then you both walked out. Gasps filled the room, all eyes were on you. They all knew who you were. You were the missed girl everyone was looking for. They either thought you were dead or that you were left at a lost place. But now you stood there - healthy, happy, self-confident.
"I know what you all think: That's (Y/n)! What is she doing here?! Where has she been?! I tell you all a secret: She was with me all the time." Jerome grabbed your face soft making you giggle "She's gorgeous, isn't she? Always has a pretty smile in her face."
Barbara pulled a next man up on stage positioning right in front of you and handed you a gun. Then she placed an apple on the man's bald.
"You know how to hold a gun, doll?" Jerome grinned wrapping his arms around you from behind. You felt his lips and his warm breathe touched your cheek. It was giving you chills in arousal.
"I'm not that stupid, Jerome." You made sure the gun was loaded. You positioned yourself to keep stable and pointed the gun at the apple. That was what Barbara and Tabitha have taught you over the days you were at Galavan's.
The man in front of you was shivering with wide eyes, his sweat was dripping down his forehead. His eyes expressed fear and you could see he wished you didn't kill him.
"Hold very still." Jerome growled at the man, then he covered his eyes with one hand "I can't look! Someone tell me how it turns out."
You inhaled deeply and concentrated on the apple. But as you pulled the trigger, just water came out and splashed into the old man's face. At that moment, you thought that Jerome jerked you around with tell you time the star.
Jerome just sighed in annoyance grabbing your gun and gave you a new one assuring you that he didn't know the gun was fake.
"Damn! Turn around." The man looked at you in fear and turned around. With his eyes he literally begged you not to shoot or at least to hit the apple. He was about to stop moving as you shot the apple from his head. The crowd gasps in shock and relief that the guy wasn't dead yet.
"Whoo!" Barbara cheered happily. You knew she was proud of you that you didn't blame yourself and missed the apple. You were proud of yourself, too. You shot without hesitation, not even thinking of missing the apple and accidentally shoot the guy.
Every one else kept quiet tho.
"Well, clap!" Jerome shouted kinda aggressively to the crowd - then they did it. Nervously and fast. He laughed slightly pressing a kiss on your cheek "Well done, doll."
"Thank you, Jerome." You grinned. He took the gun out of your hands and placed it on the table with the knives. Then he kept staring at them for a while, you could see he was thinking about something.
"Do you know how to use a knife? Just wondering." Jerome smiled at you.
Before you could answer though, you saw Lee kicked Barbara in the stomach making her grunt.
As Barbara looked up at Lee, you could see fury was written in her face. She was angry, mad...these words just described a very small part of her feeling. It was incredible how much hate a person could express.
You looked at Lee. You could see she didn't give a fuck about her consequences.
"Haven't been ten minutes," Jerome hissed holding Barbara's arm tight that she was unable to stab Lee "We need to buy you a watch." Soon as Jerome turned around back to you Barbara punched Lee in her face. The crowd and you all gasped in surprise. Jerome instead, just looked at you shaking his head in disappointment what made you chuckle.
"Well, I think it's time for tonight's first official victim. You all know and love. Poor rich boy...Parents murdered in an alley, and my favorite volunteer: Where is Bruce Wayne?" Jerome claimed waiting for the little boy's appearance - he didn't come though. Everyone looked around for the boy hoping he would come. They, as you, knew what would happen if he did - someone will die.
"You know, I'm an orphan, too, Bruce? I killed my parents, though." Jerome spoke to the microphone, then stepped away from it "Where are you hiding?"
"Bruce!" Jerome screamed in anger making you flinch a little - you were always surprised about his temper. It came rapidly and was gone after a few seconds "Where are you buddy?!"
"That little kid's afraid of you, Jerome." You giggled wrapping your arms around his torso kinda in hope to calm him down a little. You had no idea his temper could ride that fast. "Give that boy some time to realize how much fun he's gonna have with you."
"We don't have time, right now. We have a plan to follow." Jerome grumbled looking around for Bruce and slightly pushing you away from him. In your eyes, Jerome was  a mix of an infant and a monster or the evil itself. His impatience reminded you of a child that didn't get his will. And his eye expression expressed fury, evil and the strong wish to kill the kid. It was fascinating, and almost frightening.
"Kill his butler!"" Barbara suggested.
"Alright, last chance Bruce but it's about to get very butler-brainy out here." Jeromekept looking around. While that, some of Jerome's colleagues grabbed the butler's arms right pushing him forward to Jerome. He was an older tall man in a black tuxedo looking very concerned for the little boy - understandable.
"Brucey!" Jerome yelled looking through the crowd but the boy still didn't appear "I'm bored. Shoot the butler." Jerome turned to you with a grin, not even really paying attention to what was happening around him. He just wanted you.
"Stop!" Bruce claimed panicking and ran fast in front of the stage to his poor butler.
"Let's get this started, huh?" Jerome gasped pulling Bruce back while pointing a gun at his head "You! Check behind the curtain! Make sure no one's playing silly buggers"
One of Jerome's colleagues nodded and walked to the curtain. He moved it aside the entrance,  he got shot.
"Drop the knife!" James Gordon shouted pointing a gun at Jerome, but he just laughed and pressed the young Bruce Wayne in front of his body, a sharp blade was pressed on his throat almost cutting his thin skin.
"I don't have a clean shot!" Gordon shouted.
"Stay calm, Bruce." The butler tried to encourage the little boy after he took a gun, as well, pointing it at Jerome. He totally ignored what Gordon said. His mind was all around Bruce.
"It seems like we've got ourselves a pickle." Jerome stopped laughing but pressing a knife against Bruce's throat. "What do you say Brucey boy? Wanna boost our ratings, huh?" Jerome cackled insanely again "Smile."
"I said enough!"  All of a sudden Theo appeared behind Jerome. He looked mad, very mad. Again you got that feeling of uncomfortableness. And again you got that feeling that something bad will happen now. You saw it on his gaze. This devilish grin. Something was in the bush.
And you weren't wrong. Shortly after Jerome turned to him slowly, Theo stabbed a knife into his neck.
Everyone gasped in shock, you were the loudest though. You heart dropped, you couldn't move for the moment, your legs became weak, cat got your tongue - you weren't able to breathe normal. You felt poor as you stared at Theo's hand that pressed the knife in Jerome's throat deeper and deeper - and that all right in front of you. Your whole body shivered, you were about to throw up every minute.
Tears built up in your eyes and some even streamed down your cheeks. This couldn't be real, this mustn't be real! You couldn't loose him, not now, not again, not forever.
Things have happened not quite perfect and you were mad at him, you didn't want to be with him, you even hated him for a moment, you were afraid of him... everything. You could say for one moment he was your biggest fear in your life because you were scared he'd kill you every minute, or every time you did something wrong. But that faded, it was forgiven, your love was refreshed. It was stronger than the night you two met for the first time. Your connection was stronger than ever before - you knew you belonged together. Why else did fate decide to let you two meet again? Why else would you fall for him again? Why else did he all you his doll, his girl, his queen? That weren't just words...it was more, a lot more.
You knew Jerome couldn't show love as usual people did, but you knew he loved you. His soft side towards you, him trying to make you smile, him protecting you when Greenwood teased you or harassed you..,that was all real. He didn't act at all!
All the memories came up. His smile, how you two hold a conversation for the first time at the circus, you felt the warmth on you hand again when you remembered how he held your hand. You could feel his arms wrapping around your body, and you could hear him calling you 'doll'.
And all this was gone forever now.
"I know, I know." He pressed Jerome down to the ground "Im so sorry, Jerome. You have real talent. But now you see, the plot thickens. Enter the hero." You saw Theo grinning slightly.
You could kill him for what he has done to him - and to you. He took all your joy away, he ripped your heart in two and three it away that it shattered in thousands of pieces. He had to die in your eyes. He just deserved it. You wanted revenge. You wanted to make him feel what he has done to you. You wanted to make him feel how you felt - sad, broken, shocked.
"I was gonna be.." With his last breath and his last courage, he looked up to you still having a grin in his face. His mouth opened shortly as if he was about to say something to you, but too late.
He was dead - dead as your happiness, your joy, you will to live. Your heart felt so heavy that every beating was exhausting you, as your breathing. The world was spinning around you. You body and your psyche couldn't handle what has happened just a few seconds in front of you.
He died, your love, your everything - your Jerome. And he will never come back.
And you died - inside.

A Loki TVA / Lokane fic that snatched a tempad. Rating T.
Previously: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 (of 6)
Shine a Light, part 4
This time around, he feels but the faintest glimmer of surprise as he steps out of the doorway and onto a busy sidewalk in Midtown Manhattan.
A few people stop dead in their tracks when the door materializes out of thin air, but the throng of commuters headed to and from Central Station is so dense, Loki’s appearance goes mainly unnoticed.
Dull resignation washes over him.
The tempad is officially broken. Its coordinates locked onto this little planet where, in his own timeline, he has known nothing but defeat.
Without bothering to look for a newsstand, he reasons there’s a strong probability it’s the year 2014. It would seem the damn gadget is slowly counting backwards, while refusing to take him anywhere else in the universe.
Above his head, a billboard flashing on the side of a high-rise building confirms his suspicions.
Incredibly though, the tempad still not out of “juice”. The battery life seems to be making a mockery of his failed attempts to direct the itinerary.
Taking a step out of the moving sea of people, Loki sees little in way of construction sites along the street.
On his timeline, this would have been two years after his attack on the city with Thanos’ army, but if that ‘highlight’ of Loki’s less than acclaimed villainous career took place in this reality as well, the mortals have effectively tidied up after him.
He tries not think of the countless faces frozen in terror that had looked up at him.
Of the lives lost because of his crazed ambition to prove himself - and to destroy something of Thor’s.
Almost if Loki had been transformed back into the chronically jealous five-year-old child who once stole his golden, annoyingly joyful, perfect brother’s favorite model toy - a grey wolf made of clay - and deliberately let it roll down the steps of the throne when their father (his NON-father) had been away.
The toy had broken into pieces and Thor had been inconsolable. Gripped by immediate remorse despite his initial intent, Loki had tried to fix it with his budging magic powers. Only for the wolf to melt to a sticky puddle on the stone floor.
Thor had wailed so loudly, a passing servant had thought him seriously injured and called for their mother, and Loki had been made to apologize, his usually pale cheeks burning scarlet. Then he had been grounded for the remains of the day.
The humiliation had stung, and so had the regret that his magic had failed him.
Not for the first time, the anger had turned, unwarranted (Loki knew then too), towards his brother.
From then on, it had just gotten slowly worse and worse and more malicious right up until that horrible moment of rage no more than a few days ago (a week?), when Loki had driven one of his daggers into Thor’s side on top of the Stark tower.
And twisted it.
The mix of bottomless sadness and shock in his brother’s blue eyes had cut through Loki’s heart with such force he might as well have sunk the blade of his other weapon into his own chest.
But instead of abandoning his pathetic scramble for power and hold Thor, instead of attempting to heal the wound with his magic that has become so formidable in adulthood, Loki had let the poison drown the remains of his sanity.
Of course, shortly afterward, the green monstrosity had effortlessly and repeatedly smashed him into the concrete floor of Stark’s living-quarters until Loki had thought he heard every bone in his supposedly immortal (right!) body break and his skull crack open.
Tumblr media
To the outside, it had surely been a suitably entertaining show of retribution, but as he had lain there in the crater of rubble, unable to utter a moan, it was as if all the anger had been knocked out of him.
The link to Thanos’ ungodly servant had been severed and Loki had felt more like himself than he had in a long, long time.
When Thor, looking grimmer than ever, had dragged him to his feet in front of the ragtag band of ‘heroes’ and cuffed him, Loki had found himself strangely elated, on the verge of giddy.
His legs had been so shaky from the beating that Thor had had to hold him by the arm so he wouldn’t fall, and Loki had felt the heat of his brother’s huge hand penetrate the many layers of his own armour.
For a few delirious seconds, Loki had wanted nothing more than to lean against his brother’s strong frame and just close his eyes.
Instead, he had started cracking jokes until Thor had slapped the muzzle on him, as if he were some dog (that gesture had embarrassed him more than anything that had gone before). Unable to keep up his sarcastic commentary as they rode the elevator down, Loki had fleetingly wondered if he was suffering from a psychosis or actual brain damage.
Now, standing on the street so close to where it happened, the memory oozes fresh guilt.
But he redeemed himself.
In his mind, Loki goes through the TVA reel once more to remind himself of the images of his brother later in life, smiling at him.
Right before the end came.
If he is to spend the rest of eternity on Midgard - or at least until the multiverse crumbles - he will try to find solace in the good his future self managed to accomplish.
For Thor and, in another, brighter reality, for her.
The riddle of her part in his life now remains unsolved, but as hard as Loki tries to release the ghost wrapped in his arms, it merely squeezes itself closer to his chest.
He could try to find her here, on this timeline.
She will be with Thor, that much is certain, but since the reel of Loki’s fate had shown him only his own path, he knows not whether Thor and Jane shared a life on Midgard, or somewhere else, up until the brothers reunited (for lack of a better word) on Asgard.
What would Loki even say to her?
That, while at the bureau that controls all space and time, he saw her face on a roll of film of his supposed life, and now he aches for her more than anything? That on an alternate timeline a few hours ago, she kissed him?
Thor would not approve of that exchange.
Also, with Loki’s luck, Thor might be a frog in this reality.
He could still try to use the tempad to transport him to Svartalfheim and his own life’s story, seeing as he is now only year from where he feels so strongly he must go.
But finding the proper timeline is like shooting an arrow into the endless vastness of space and hoping it’ll hit the right comet.
He realizes that now.
An arrow.
Somehow, somewhere, on two timelines no less, variants of him had …
Loki’s head jerks up.
The tower.
It’s a desperate idea at best, but from the (very) little Loki knows of his character, Stark’s superior technical skills go hand in hand with an endlessly hungry, inquisitive mind. And pride.
Much like Loki, Stark is a man who needs to be the smartest man in the room. And like Loki, he probably is, most of time (in fact… no. Don’t go there).
Maybe Stark will listen.
Perhaps he can even help make sense of the tempad if Loki can somehow win his trust and appeal to his curiosity and (he winces a little) heroism.
Was it not Loki’s actions who had helped Stark “realize his best potential”, as his TVA file put it?
He spots the imposing structure further up the street, noticing the huge “A” at the top (is that new?), and sets off towards it at a brisk pace, darting in and out of the crowds on the packed sidewalk.
Here goes nothing.
As he reaches the large glass doors he briefly experiences a dizzying deja-vu, when suddenly a man’s voice calls out to him.
A frighteningly familiar, agitated voice.
… With a particular brand of anger bubbling underneath, that Loki had hoped he’d never have to witness up close ever again.
//
“What the hell are you doing here??”
His dark, curly hair has a few more streaks of silver. The checkered shirt is slightly crumbled, the glasses a bit askew. He clutches an armful of papers to his chest.
And he’s wearing a furious expression although, thank the Norns, a mortal complexion.
For now.
“Didn’t Tony explicitly tell you not to come here?! Are you that intent on causing everyone to lose their shit again?!”
Worry is all over Doctor Banner’s screwed up face.
“Seriously, Loki, is this funny to you? Clint is actually in the building right now and, in case Tony didn’t already inform you, he’s made it very clear that he’s quitting the team if you were to stroll through the front door!”
The Avenger has started shaking, his eyes wild (too wild).
This is heading in the wrong direction fast.
Mustering all the calm in the world despite his racing pulse and the nauseating sounds of bones breaking echoing in his head, Loki puts on his most courteous and, he dearly hopes, un-cocky charming smile.
“Bruce, please relax. I assure you, I’m not here to cause trouble. Not for you or anyone else.”
“Right, you just happened to be in town and wanted to stop by for coffee? Loki, this …”
Loki gently interrupts him.
“I merely came here to have a conversation with S- … Tony. Perhaps you could let him know I’m here? I promise you, I will not set foot inside. In fact - “
Loki adopts the form of one of the security guards he can see pacing inside the foyer.
“… I’m not even here.”
Bruce jumps a little and clutches his papers even tighter.
“Oh god, I hate when you do that, man. If you think showing off that trick makes anyone any less nervous around you…”
“Doctor Banner - Bruce. I have something …”
Loki searches for the words, quickly trying to decide on how much to reveal to the man-beast who’s now looking at him with urgent expectancy.
He sighs and bets it all.
“Okay. Bruce, what I’m going to say will sound mad.”
The man scoffs.
“Coming from you, I’d expect nothing less.”
Bruce shakes his head and looks to the sky in exasperation.
“Please - please - don’t tell me you’ve gone and changed your mind about the whole not conquering Earth business. Really, Loki, none of us understand how transforming you into ‘an asset’ became Tony’s pet project over this past year, or why Fury went along with it. But I’m sure both are going to be pretty damn disappointed if their new alien BFF decides to embrace his inner psycho again.”
Loki almost chuckles. It’s all too ridiculous.
“I won’t … embrace my inner ‘psycho’, I swear.”
“Then what?”
The God of Mischief draws in a deep breath, closing his eyes and pinching the bridge of his nose. Or rather, the security guard’s nose.
Then he surrenders to the absurdity of the situation.
“Bruce, I kindly beg of you, is Tony here? Or … (is there hope?) Thor?”
Bruce still looks at him with deep disdain, but his immediate anger seems to have subsided.
“No, Tony’s out of town. Took Pepper somewhere on holiday. They’re not to be disturbed for at least a week. Her words. And Thor … I should think you of all people know perfectly well why he’s not likely to hang around at the time being. Jeez, you guys and your endless family soap opera … I can’t even.”
Naturally, the universe again blankly refuses to extend any hands to Loki and his doomed quest. Sadly, once again, he is not surprised.
Wait - what?
“What do you mean, ‘soap opera’?”
Bruce looks like he’s about to throw his hands over his head and all the papers with them.
“Oh, come on! What is this?! You want approval? Confirmation of your little victory? Doesn’t the very lovely embodiment of that currently walk around in your apartment or wherever it is you live now? Loki, I’m done here. You have to leave. Bye.”
To hell with Stark – Loki wants to grab Bruce by his shirt collar and shake the little man till he explains what in all of Yggdrasil he’s talking about.
But he cannot afford to tempt the beast. Quite literally.
“Then … can you and I go somewhere to talk? Bruce, you’re a man of science. This is science … related.”
Loki feigns a smile.
Bruce sizes him up. No doubt considering whether to let the other guy continue the conversation.
Then his shoulders drop.
“Okay. Okay. For a creepy megalomaniac, you somehow tend to end up with some very cool people defending your case. Just know that those people are absolutely the only reason, you and I are still talking. Ugh, I’m too nice … “
Bruce casts a glance over his shoulder into the foyer, appearing to consider their options, when a man exits the glass doors – and shuffles up to them.
“Bruce! How nice to see you. You look well.”
The old man (those eyes …) grins warmly and pats Bruce on the back, then looks from him to Loki and back again.
“Everything alright out here? Is there a security issue?”
Bruce composes himself and smiles back.
“Hi, Lee, good to see you too. All fine. Earl here was just updating me on, eh, the new security procedures.”
He shoots Loki a stern look.
Ah, yes”, Loki nods seriously. “Doctor Banner had some trouble operating the intricate open and close mechanism of the doors. The elevator doors, especially.”
He can’t help himself. It’s somehow both immensely tragic and life-affirming.
“Oh?” The old man raises an eyebrow (he looks … but he’s not quite …something is off).
“Will I have to get a new security card? I rarely come in these days, but in case …”
“No, no, that won’t be necessary, Lee. Because, because … like you say, you’re hardly ever here, so …”
Still smiling awkwardly, Bruce waves a dismissive hand, almost dropping the stack of papers (the man’s a terrible liar, Loki thinks).
“Speaking of”, Banner continues, “you must be enjoying retirement up there, huh, Lee? Must be nice to live by the sea. Good … air quality?”
Loki sighs inwardly.
The dog sniffing at his ankles looks up at him.
He stares down at the round, fluffy thing as if seeing it for the first time.
Which he is and he isn’t.
The old man is saying something to Bruce about the countryside, when he notices the dog wagging its tail at Loki’s feet.
“Oh, he likes you. You’re lucky, he normally doesn’t care for strangers. No, you don’t, do you Fenris”, the man coos.
Under coats of thick white fur, the animal looks eagerly from owner to Loki.
“Okay, well, I’ll be off,” the old man says, finally. “Come see me sometime, Bruce. My neighbor actually just put his house on the market, in case you’re looking for a weekend retreat…”
He nods at Bruce, then at Loki who barely notices. The dog whines unhappily at being dragged away.
It’s the same timeline.
Of course, it is. The tempad has locked itself on a sequence.
But why the different locations …?
“Yes, thank you, Lee. Take care now. Earl, shall we?” Bruce signals to Loki to follow him round the side of the building.
“We can continue our discussion about the security issue in the garage”.
//
“So, let’s hear it. Tell me what you came to say, so I can tell you why it’s a catastrophically bad idea.”
Bruce sits himself across the small table from Loki and dumps the stack of papers in front of him. The top sheet is covered in coffee mug rings.
They are in an anonymous, windowless office somewhere below the vast tower parking lot and numerous in-house repair shops.
The place is a gigantic maze and Loki has just shut himself in a tiny room with the very monster that turned him into ragdoll. The deep slash on his forehead has only just healed.
He does not fear many beings in the universe, but the mild-mannered doctor’s alter ego makes the hit list with the worst of them.
Ignoring the way the hairs on the back of his neck stand up (why did this seem like a good idea?), Loki drops his disguise and takes a seat on the cheap plastic chair. Not much of that flashy Stark glamour down here.
Tumblr media
“Okay.” Loki takes out the tempad and puts it in the middle of the table.
He is not quite sure where to start, so he decides to begin with the purely technical aspect.
Bruce might appreciate being given a few ‘scientific’ details before any mentions of giant smoke monsters and alligators.
In fact, the fewer magical creatures and castles in the sky, the better.
“This is called a tempad. It’s a device that makes it possible to travel anywhere in time. You type in your destination, and a doorway opens. I did not make it myself. It was, er, given to me by a large and very powerful organization … in space.”
Bruce is leaning forward to get a better look at the tempad but makes no attempt to reach for it.
As he’s says nothing, Loki continues.
“This is where it gets, uh, weird, but try to believe me when I tell you, I’m not the Loki you know. I’m from another, similar timeline and -“
“Stop.”
“Excuse me?”
“Just stop, Loki.”
Bruce is leaning back on his chair again. He looks tired.
“I don’t know if you’re supremely bored of domestic bliss already, or just being your supremely annoying self, but I won’t engage. You’re not Loki but a time-traveler from space? Yeah, it’s -“
“No, Bruce, I am Loki. Trust me, I know this seems -“
“Trust? You wanna talk about trust again?” Bruce takes out his phone.
“Okay, we can do that.”
He taps a few buttons, then holds the phone to his ear.
“What are you doing?” Loki’s voice has a sharper edge to it than he intended.
The Avenger stares him down.
“Oh, I’m just calling someone. This guy I have in my contacts under God of Lies”.
Please, no …
Briefly, Loki considers whether another variant of him – the one he encountered at the house by the ocean, most likely – would actually be of more help.
Or if he, the variant, would try to kill him.
It was one thing reasoning with and trying not to get killed by Loki variants who at least understood the concept of variants, but how would he have reacted upon being confronted with a twin before the TVA?
No, not a twin … Because this variant has her.
None of the variants in the Void – the grown-up, human ones – had mentioned versions of her.
Either this variant has successfully taken out every Minute Man ever sent by the TVA to arrest him (in which case, Loki concedes, he may be the superior Loki), or this whole timeline has only just blossomed at the opening of the multiverse.
Why else would he, who apparently also gave his phone number to Bruce Banner, get to live a life so vastly different from the typical arc of a misguided Jotun prince?
Loki feels light-headed.
On one hand, he wants to know everything there is to know about his double, on the other, he fears what and who he might find.
You don’t belong here. Find your own timeline. No more Lokis.
Focus. Explain.
He raises his one hand in a placating gesture.
“Give me a little time to try and explain this, Bruce, and then, then … You can call whoever. Call everyone! But please just -“
“Oh, what do you know,” Bruce puts his phone down, “there’s no answer. What a surprise.”
He crosses his arms.
Loki inhales and tries again, speaking as evenly and as calmly as he can while his frustration mounts:
“There is no way of telling you all or any of this without it sounding utterly ludicrous, so you’ll have to hear me out. Five minutes uninterrupted from now, okay? Yes, we’re talking time travel, but compared to what’s really at stake, even time travel is a pretty basic technicality. Also, I promise you, in a few years’ time from now, the concept of time travel won’t seem all that laughable to you and Stark in particular. Provided this reality exists in a few years’ time seeing as -“
Bruce sighs dramatically.
“Yes, okay, so”, Loki continues, “Two years ago, I attacked New York, right?”
“If you’re about to roll out some outlandish excuse – another one! – I don’t care to hear it.”
The other man is narrowing his eyes as a fresh look of undistilled loathing creeps into his features.
So it did happen on this timeline as well.
“No, it’s not that. Or, I mean, let’s save that. When you captured me, in my timeline, I escaped from the lobby with the Infinity stone. I know it seems impossible from your end of events but - “
“Impossible?”
Bruce gives him a strange look Loki can’t quite interpret.
“Yes, S… Tony dropped the briefcase with the Infinity stone, and I picked it up and -“
Bruce pushes his chair back. The plastic scrapes loudly against the stone tiles of the floor.
“Loki, I can’t. I thought I had the patience to at least indulge you but turns out I don’t. I can’t tell if you’re losing your mind, but either way, you’ll have to take it – this, whatever it is – up with Tony instead when he gets back. Maybe bring that sweet lab partner of yours along if you’re going to talk time travel. With her field of expertise, I’m sure - “
“WILL YOU SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME!”
Without thinking, Loki slams both his hands into the table. Papers go flying and Bruce staggers backwards.
Horror dawns as Loki realizes his error, but it’s already too late.
Bruce doubles over in spasms and a deep, much too deep, growling sound escapes his lips. He grips his head with his shaking hands as if trying to contain the explosion within, and Loki feels his own brain go numb with panic as one of those hands triples in size and a sickly green hue rapidly spreads.
There is no way out.
Bruce is blocking the door and soon his bulk will be taking up the entire room. He falls to his knees, arms thrashing wildly and his shirt ripping across his back. The table sails over Loki’s head, one of the chairs lodges itself in the soundproofed ceiling, causing the panels of fluorescent light to flicker madly.
Are there no security cameras?!
There are screams, but they no longer sound human.
Loki has nowhere to hide.
He has to gather his magic around him, but terror is completely scattering his focus, cold sweat breaking out all over his body.
It is a matter of seconds before the transformation will be complete and the monster attempts to tear him limb from limb. With no heroes to stop it.
Cold.
He has only consciously reached for it once before, but now the thought barely registers before ice rushes through him as if by instinct. Bruce is not the only one with an abomination lurking under the surface.
He doesn’t have the casket of his birth father, but he has strength.
There is no time to consider if it’s enough or nothing at all. No time for crippling self-loathing or shame.
In front of him, the Hulk lifts its crazed, bloodshot eyes to meet his.
The green creature cannot stand upright in the office, and the first fist goes through the ceiling with the force of a wrecking ball. The next lashes out at Loki, who dodges it just as his own skin turns a deep, brilliant blue.
Little black ridges and markings rise on his arms and face and though his sight doesn’t falter, he feels the instant his eyes go from green to bright red. The fabric of his clothes chafes his new skin and waves of adrenaline surge through his body. Multiple foreign senses come alive and drown his fear.
But he has not a breath to spare to get used to his true form before the Hulk shoves him against the wall so hard, the bricks shift against his side as if they were made of a child’s building blocks.
The impact makes him gasp for air, yet the pain … the pain he can manage.
He just has to last long enough get out of here. And the cold is crystalizing his focus to let the magic flow easily, powerfully through his hands.
His blue hands.
If he had used this when …
Loki pushes himself off the wall (out of it) and almost collides with the Hulk (there’s no space left to maneuver in) who, instead of smashing its way out, seems hell-bent on squashing the only living thing in its line of sight first.
Loki swiftly crouches down on one knee, puts his palms together and, faster than the blink of a brilliant crimson eye, conjures a rotating orb of ice and chaos energy that explodes in a blinding flash of white light as he hurls it square into the monster’s chest.
The Hulk falls back, breaking through the wall to the parking lot on the other side and crashing into a row of cars, while a sheath of ice spreads from its chest and up its neck. The being that is not Bruce howls and claws at its skin, but the smooth ice thickens and as it reaches the head of the beast, it slides right into its eye sockets – and momentarily blinds it.
It will probably only last seconds but it’s all Loki needs while the Hulk shakes its head furiously.
He makes to flee when he spots the tempad on the cracked floor.
He can’t leave it.
As Loki dives for the gadget, the Hulk simultaneously knocks itself in the face with both fists, splintering the ice into a rain of tiny spikes. With a roar to match the sound of a spaceship engine taking off, the creature lunges.
Loki’s fingers close around the tempad.
He feels a buzz.
The door appears in front of him.
He doesn’t stop to think before throwing himself through it.
The Hulk punches into empty air.

OXYCONTIN OXYCODONE (HCI CONTROLLED RELEASE TABLETS)
—tim grabbed the bottle from the stash of medicines in his apartment, shakily pressing down on the lid to open the locking mechanism.
OT00367K 300514-0H WARNING: OxyContin is an opioid agonist and a Schedule II controlled substance with an abuse liability similar to morphine.
—because thank god alfred somehow managed to keep the batcave infirmary stocked with many different drugs and painkillers. tim remembered the money making people blink, the professional suppliers delivering to an unknown location, leslie turning a blind eye, going so far as to help them sometimes. it gave tim access to whatever he needed to take for his own apartment.
Oxcodone can be abused in a manner similar to other opioid agonists, legal or illicit. This should be considered when prescribing or dispensing OxyContin in situations where the physician or pharmacist is concerned about an increased risk of misuse, abuse, or diversion.
—leslie had glanced at him strange, so tim took her into the medbay and pulled up his sweatpants. the swollen, bruised colour of his ankle was striking against his pale skin. to her credit, leslie didn’t even wince, just used firm hands and warm fingers to examine the wound. tim had asked her not to tell anyone, and the injury was minimal enough for her to purse her lips and nod. she demanded a checkup in a week. with some negotiating, tim moved it up to a week and a half. “be careful with those,” leslie said, gesturing towards the painkillers. “of course,” tim responded easily.
OxyContin Tablets are a controlled-release oral formulation of oxycodone hydrochloride indicated for the management of moderate to severe pain when a continuous, around the clock analgesic is needed for an extended period of time.
—tim leaned against the wall of his bathroom, finally gripping the hem of his sweatshirt and pulling it off. a myriad of colours greeted him, everything from mottled yellow to angry violet to the dark red of the blood flecked around the wound on his side. it was stupid, so stupid. damian had come out of that encounter fine, just a couple bruises to the forearms. tim, on the other hand, had to suffer a slice to the side with a knife, all because he’d hurt his ankle and ribs a day ago and hadn’t been able to flip out of the way in time. the pain had been unnoticeable yesterday, but today, it went past his entire body being on fire and instead felt like he’d been dipped in ice. tim was ready to claw his skin off his torso and fix his ribs himself, but he settled for tipping a couple pills into his palm.
OxyContin Tablets are NOT intended for use as a prn analgesic
—tim allowed himself a couple seconds, taking a few deep breaths, the way dick had taught him to push through the pain. then, pushing off the wall, tim stumbled into his bedroom. forgoing dinner, he shrugged his sweatshirt back on and collapsed onto the bed, letting out a hiss of pain when he landed on a bruise. he shuffled over to his favourite side, staying on top of the covers, moving his injured ankle into a somewhat comfortable position, and waited for the pills to kick in as he drifted off to sleep.
OxyContin 80 mg and 160 mg Tablets ARE FOR USE IN OPIOID-TOLERANT PATIENTS ONLY. These tablet strengths may cause fatal respiratory depression when administered to patients not previously exposed to opioids.
—when tim woke up the next day, it was hard to breathe. hypoventilation was nothing new with stronger painkillers, though, so tim groggily stood up and made his way into the bathroom. the bruises had darkened, and the wound was gaping. turned out tim’s initial assessment was wrong: he needed stitches after all. on the bright side, the pain wasn’t as bad today as it was yesterday. tim popped a couple more pills and took out his medkit.
OxyContin Tablets ARE TO BE SWALLOWED WHOLE AND ARE NOT TO BE BROKEN, CHEWED, OR CRUSHED. TAKING BROKEN, CHEWED, OR CRUSHED OxyConton Tablets LEADS TO RAPID RELEASE AND ABSORPTION OF A POTENTIALLY FATAL DOSE OF OXYCODONE.
—bruce needed his help with a black mask case, and he’d called jason in as well, because no one knew the villain like the former crime lord. but jason was also working a human trafficking case with dick, and while things were getting better, dick was still one of the people that routinely defied bruce’s authority, quieter than jason but much more intense. but damian had asked him personally to come (well, he’d said he wanted to show him how to groom alfred the cat, which was practically the same thing), and cass was visiting from hong kong. so, for probably a couple rare hours, everyone was going to be in the manor, and if alfred and cass had anything to say about it, peacefully. tim gathered the information he’d layed out, and made his way towards the manor.
Possible Side Effects of OxyContin include: Drowsiness and/or weakness,
—tim stopped in one of the sitting rooms in the manor, dropping onto the couch after feeling the ground sway underneath him. he probably needed to eat something. knowing what his family would say if anyone found him in this state, he used trembling hands to take his computer out of his backpack, and pull up some mindless case under the pretense of work. he forced his eyes open, letting the blue screen cut through his vision. he had a good night’s rest, so the last thing he needed was to sleep right now. besides, look at dick! the man could stay awake for days on end, or keep going for weeks on minimal sleep, never get slow or sloppy in the field with exhaustion, and kept a warm and welcoming smile on his face the entire time. the least tim could do was put his injury to the side and stay awake for the first few hours of the night, before everything delved into screaming matches and arguments.
dizziness that may be accompanied by a headache,
—tim could feel everybody staring at him. they were analyzing him, taking stock of his weaknesses, he just knew it. and he couldn’t blame them. he could barely keep his head propped up, sitting in front of the screen. he flinched every time a particularly sudden or loud sound cut through the air, making his brain scream and his face wince in pain. tim’s fingers were rubbing his temples, but the effect was laughable against the pounding in his ears, the pounding of his head. “tim,” bruce’s voice caught his attention, deep but not quite gentle. “why don’t you get some water, hm?” tim nodded, then went to stand up stumbling slightly and grabbing the chair for balance. bruce moved to steady him, but tim held a hand out to stop him. he was fine. the floor was moving, the walls were spinning, but he was fine. “just a little tired,” he waved off to bruce. “don’t worry. i’ll grab an energy drink or something later.”
nausea,
—jason’s brow was furrowed as tim forced another bite to his mouth. across the table, dick’s head tilted in question and he asked “i thought alfredo was your favourite?” tim’s smile didn’t feel all that forced when he brought it up, and he forced another bite past his lips. “i’m just not that hungry. i had a snack in the afternoon.” his stomach was rolling, clenching, sizing up and- “if you would like something light, master timothy, i’m sure we have some crackers and soup. you can eat the alfredo another time.” alfred really was too kind. tim’s hands were clenched around the fork, and it took everything he hand not to curl up on his stomach, to heave as he opened his mouth to say “no thanks alfie. i’m good.”
and vomiting,
—tim couldn’t take it anymore. he pushed his chair back and left the table, far more rudely than he’d ever been before, barring an argument at the dinner table, and raced upward, willing his uncooperative feet and busted ankle to cooperate no matter the dizziness. he could hear the confused cries of his family behind him, but ignored them. tim threw open the door to the bathroom, having the mind to close and lock it, before falling over the toilet, heaving up the little pasta he’d managed to force down. and when that was done, there came the fire. the pain in his stomach as he tried to throw up what wasn’t even in his stomach anymore and oh was that blood? that wasn’t a good sign.
among other side effects. For a complete list of all possible side affects, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
—there was pounding on the door, and tim heard dick’s voice calling out his name. “fuckin’ pick the lock!” jason’s voice was angry. of course it was angry, the one time his family hadn’t come to blows and tim had ruined it. couldn’t he have held it together for just a few more hours? suddenly, there was a loud crack. cass had kicked the door in. she leaped into the bathroom, immediately over to him, with dick hot at her heels. jason was leaning against the doorway, keeping damian or bruce from coming in.
Previous medical conditions, such as lung problems, head injury, liver or kindey problems, adrenal gland problems, convulsions or seizures, alcoholism, hallucinations or other severe mental problems, and past or present substance abuse or addiction may heighten the negative effects of the oxycodone.
—voices filtered into tim’s mind, but everything sounded like he was underwater. muffled, quiet. the quiet was nice. if only his headache could get with the program. there were hands on his shoulders, cupping his face. they were warm, and felt strong. he was safe. there was a part of him screaming, though. get up, open your eyes, stop being weak! stop being pathetic! the others could do so much more than you, so just stop acting like a victim and be useful for once! the voice was demanding, and tim tried to do just that, the dizziness had come back with a vengeance and the room was spinning. or maybe his vision was whiting out, because everything flared a bright, brilliant white before tim was plunged into darkness.
Pharmacist: dispense the attached Medication Guide to any patient taking OxyContin Tablets.
OT00367K 300514-0H
i don’t actually know how OxyContin works so all of this may be horribly wrong. this is just what the warning label said on a bottle i found in the medicine cabinet.

Hey guys! I know it's been a while since I shared a story, and I said I would but with quarantine my will to write something was gone. But now I am back and I will try to write more. (Maybe the next one will be about LOTR or HP idk)
So here’s my second Bruce Wayne story. This is my thirth English story (English is not my native language) so I’m really sorry if I did any mistakes I tried my best.  And I don’t know much about American law system or the terms, so forgive me if I did any mistakes. Thank you for the ones who read and I would really, really appreciate if you guys give me feedback! Enjoy! (I hope.)
 Batman x Female!Reader  Angst! Fluff!
Word count: 2,913
The sky was beginning to darken to remind people that it was finally time to leave the work behind and go home to rest. But not everyone had that chance. It was hard to be a lawyer in Gotham with endless crimes and villains, and because of that law workers and police couldn't have a chance to rest even if their work hours passed. (y/n) were one of them.
It was a very busy week in the law office where you were working as a prosecutor, and the case you have been working on for a long time was your biggest fish. You were preparing to sue the biggest mobster in Gotham city, David Harden. You can't put him behind the bars by yourself but you had the help of an unexpected person. The Dark Knight.
Thanks to him, a lot of Gotham's criminals were behind the bars and the ones who didn't either quit their illegal jobs or became smarter and more dangerous. But non of them could escape the wrath of the prince of Gotham.
You were working with Batman for almost two years. You helped him with a case that he was working with Commissioner Gordon and after that day he didn't hesitate to ask for your help, and you helped him gladly. He was bringing you pieces of evidence and you would take them to court. You were his legal partner, but even you worked with him for two years, you didn't know his real identity.
You walk off from your office to reach the rooftop of your building to meet with him. When you get out of the elevator, you threw yourself into the windy weather outside and waited on the rooftop of the skyscraper. After a couple of minutes, you heard a noise and headed that way. And you saw him hiding in the shadows, looking to you.
"Good night." You told him, wanting to start conservation, but you didn't think that it would happen because after two years you know that he wasn't much of a talker.
He nods his head to greet you in return.
"Did you bring the files I asked you for?" you asked.
He nods his head again and handed the files to you. You take them from him and started to examine them.
"These will do the trick for the first couple of hearings, but I need more."
"I will get them to you. You go to your home, rest. I'll do my part."
"Okay. Tomorrow there will be a closed hearing at noon. Should I let you know how it went?"
"No. I have my ways. I'll know."
You snorted.
"Of course you will."
He looked at you and started to walk to the edge of the building.
"I'll reach you when I gather the evidence."
"Ok. See you." And he jumped.
"I don't think I can get used to seeing this," You mumbled to yourself.
After putting the files into your office and hide them, You went to your car to go home. While you drive your phone rang.
"Hey."
"Hi, beautiful. How was your day?"
The caller was your boyfriend, Bruce Wayne. You met with him on a charity event, and you were prejudiced against him because of the things people were talking about him but after spending time with him you saw he had a good heart but trying to mask it with his playboy persona, you didn't know why he did it but you wanted to give him a chance and now you’ve been dating for six months. And you loved him.
"It was tiring. How about you?"
"Same. I've missed you."
"Oh, I missed you too, but I have a trial tomorrow. I have to go home and work."
"It's fine, I'll see you tomorrow then."
"OK. See you."
"Be careful. See you too."
---------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, It was dark when you exited the court. The trial started at noon and took all of your days, but you were successful and David Harden was going to be in prison until the whole court ends and can’t be bailed out.
As you started to walk towards your car in narrow streets you couldn't help yourself to feel scared. Gotham was dangerous at night. You felt relieved after you get inside of your car and when you putting your purse to your next seat, you notice a letter. You wondered how it got in as your blood run cold.
Drop the case, or we will drop your body to dumpsters.
You officially got threatened by mobsters. This wasn't happening for the first time. You were a prosecutor and the threat was a common thing. But you couldn't help yourself to feel scared because of the note that somehow got inside of your car.
You couldn't know what to do but to go to the safety of your home. You would think something to deal with it once you got there.
"What should I do?" You thought. Of course, you weren't going to drop the case but you thought if you should let Gordon or anyone else know about this threat. But they could make you drop the case for your protection. You didn't want that. You weren't a coward. And Batman was trusting you. You decided to keep this threat as a secret.
Your door ranged while you lost in your thoughts. You got up to see who it was. It was Bruce.
"Hey." You smiled.
"What are you doing here?"
He laughed, "Why? Do you want me to leave?"
"Of course not. I just got surprised."
He bends to kiss you, " I know it's late but, I wanted to see you. How was the court?"
"It was fine, he'll be in prison forever if it continues like this." You smiled. You both started to walk to the living room.
"Are you okay?" He asked you worriedly like he sensed something. You took a second to think if you want to tell him or not. He was Bruce Wayne. Carefree, rich. He was known to have parties until morning before he meets you. He was a playboy. An even if you know him he was more than that, that he was a good person you couldn't help to feel insure to tell him this. It felt like if you tell him he wouldn't want to deal with mobsters threatening you, and leave. And you didn't want that.
I can deal with this by myself, or tell him later. You thought. And you decided not to tell him.
"I'm fine, just a bit tired."
"Even tired of this?" He said while making a move to kiss you. You kissed him back. He seemed like dropped to question you about your mood. You pulled him towards to couch, he smiled. You missed him, and he seemed like he missed you too. You continued to make out and forget about everything else but Him.
 ---------------------------------------------------------------
You opened your eyes with the light of the sun shining through the window. As you trying to wake up, you notice a letter on your nightstand. It's been two weeks when you first receive your threatening letter and you keep having them. But they always came to your office or your mailbox, and now somebody gets into your house and put it next to you while you sleep. This made you feel uneasy. They could've killed you so easily. You trembled with fear and start packing. You thought it was normal treats that you always had, but this time these were serious.
You found yourself a hotel room, in the cities most popular one. You though with crowed they wouldn't dare to come close to you. Maybe it was stupid, but you didn't know what to do. You still didn't tell anything to Bruce or Gordon or Batman and now when you realize how dangerous it was you were certain wasn't going to stay at Bruce's home. You wanted to ask for help from Batman, but passed two weeks you didn't see him, and your only way to reach him was bat light. But you didn't want to use it just for your own sake. It felt selfish. With these thoughts, you went to work and work until evening. You were still considering contacting Batman, but you wanted to wait just for a night. You could tell him tomorrow. While thinking these, you went to your car, just as you approached it, you were startled by the sound from come from your behind. As you turn to that direction to see the source you fell with force coming to your face. Somebody punched you.
"What the hell!" you screamed.
"We told you to drop the case, you stupid whore!" said a man with a black mask, you couldn't saw his face and he wasn't alone. Somebody came from your behind and kick you. You fall to the ground again as you were trying to get up. They continued punching and kicking you, you felt your whole body aching. You were getting threat letters for two weeks and didn't do anything about it, so you shouldn't be surprised that this was happening to you. You couldn't do anything else but to cry as they kept hitting you. Your vision became blurry.
"You will drop that case, let this be a lesson to you, or we'll kill you next time." Some of them said while kicking you for the last time. You couldn't find the energy to answer him, and everywhere went dark.
---------------------------------------------------------------
You opened your eyes to the hospital. Your thoughts were blurry, as you shifted on your bed to understand what happened you saw a man sleeping on the bedside chair. It was Bruce. When you see him you remembered what happened, that you got beaten in an alley. While you tried to straighten up Bruce hurried to help you while sitting up instantly. You woke him up.
"Let me help." He said while holding your back.
"It's fine." You said, finally finding a comfortable position.
"Are you okay? Wait here, I will inform the doctors that you woke up." He seemed anxious.
"Where can I go?" you said while watching him leave the room.
After he came with the doctor, he told you about your condition, you had a concussion and several injuries at your arms and legs. Your face and your all of your body had bruises all over. After the doctor left you could finally look at Bruce carefully. He looked very tired and sad. He looked like he wasn't sleeping or shaving for days. He sits at your bed side chair quietly and looks at you with tearful eyes.
"What happened?" he asked you quietly.
"I-ı. How did I get here?"
"Batman brought you here apparently, they called me after they treat you."
"Batman?"
"Yes. Several people saw him bringing you here. What happened? Are you going to tell me?"
"I got beaten in an alley, that's what happened." You said bluntly.
He holds his breath, I could sense that he was becoming tense. He clung his teeth.
"Why? This doesn't look like a mugger's job."
"It wasn't." You said feeling a bit ashamed.
"It was the mob that I was suing." He looked at me with a shocked face.
"What?"
"They were threatening me to give up the case, but I didn't, so they give me a little warning."
"Why didn't you told me anything?" he said angrily while looking at you with disappointed eyes.
"I-I don't know. I got scared."
"From what?" he asked me with a demanding voice.
"You."
"Me?" he looks at me bewildered.
"That you don't want to deal with the threats and everything, and leave. And I'm a prosecutor, I got threats all the time, I can't tell you about all of them. I thought you would get bored with all of this."
He looked at my face brokenhearted.
"I won't leave you. Especially because of this! I am Bruce Wayne, I get threats all the time, why would I leave you because you do too? Do you think so low of me?"
You felt so ashamed, he's eyes were looking at you so broken, you hated yourself at that moment for not trusting him enough.
"I'm sorry. Of course, I don't. Please forgive me." He looked at my face deeply.
"I should be asking your forgiveness, not to make you trust me enough, for not protecting you."
"Please, Bruce, don't blame yourself. What happened has happened, I just have to find a way to make it not happen again without leaving my case."
"Are you thinking continuing that case? After all of this?"
"Of course I am, I'm not a quitter."
He smiled at you.
"I now." He said while looking at your eyes.
"I love you." He said. You felt like you can burst into tears.
"I love you too."
After you leave the hospital Bruce didn't let you go to your home, you were still hurt and needed help, and there was a mob still trying to harm you.
Bruce brought you to his penthouse, he and Alfred have practically cosseted you. You were grateful for the love that you were receiving. And still feeling a little ashamed for not trusting him completely.
"How do you feel? Are you in pain?" he asked you while coming inside the room. He was holding a silver tray full of delicious-looking food.
"I feel fine, I don't have pain. Thank you." You said while straightened up. You took the tray from him. You were starving.
"Don't forget to take your pills after you eat." He said while giving you the pills. You smiled at him.
"Are you going somewhere?" He was wearing his suit.
"Oh, yes. They called me from the police station, they found a new lead about who could do this to you. And there is a couple of forms that you need to sign, I will bring them to you."
"You don't have to do that." He cares for you warmed your heart.
"I don't want to hear this anymore. I want to do everything I can do for you." You smiled at him and take his hand.
"Isn't it late for this? It's almost past evening."
"I don't know. Commissioner Gordon called me. I won't be late." He kissed your lips.
"Okay. I'll be waiting."
After Bruce left you ate your food and opened a movie on the TV that was in the room. It was almost becoming night. After some time you get bored and decided to go to the kitchen to have some dessert. After you went to the kitchen to look for it, you heard some noises on the terrace.
"It must be Alfred." You said to yourself and went to check. After you go outside, you saw a man standing in the shadows. It was Batman.
"What are you doing here?" you asked him in surprise, you haven't seen him since before the incident.
"I came to check you."
"Bruce said, you were the one who found me in the alley. Is it true?"
He looked at my eyes deeply while coming closer.
"Yes. I thought you were dead."
You didn't know what to say.
"You said the police that there is a mob against you. That you were treated."
"Yes. Only to Gordon, I don't trust anyone else. Where did you learn this?"
"I have my ways."
There was silence for a few seconds.
"Why didn't you tell me that you get threatened?" he asked me as if he isn't sure to ask me or not.
"Don't you trust me?"
"What? No. I didn't talk about it to anyone. I didn't care about it at the beginning, then I get a note from them in my bedroom one morning. Then I realized how serious it could be and move to a Hotel. But they found me in the evening after the court."
"Did they get into your house?" he asked me in an enraged voice.
"Yes, but I didn't saw them, they could've killed me if they wanted to. I think they just wanted me to scare. And they did after some point." you confessed.
"I was going to tell you, but I didn't see you anywhere."
"I was trying to find evidence fort he case as you asked. You could've used the bat light." He snapped.
"I didn't what to use it for an unimportant situation."
He looks at me astonished.
"You are not unimportant." He said angrily.
You couldn't know what to say as he came closer to you. There was something familiar in his gestures that you can't put your finger on. He stopped when he came before you. He approached your face and suddenly he kissed you.
The Batman was kissing you. Your head has gone blank for a couple of seconds and after you put your thoughts together you pushed him off you.
"What are you doing?" you shouted.
"I'm kissing my girlfriend.." He said in his normal voice.
You were stunned.
"Bruce?"
"Yes. It's me. No more secrets No more trust issues. I'm with you completely."
"But, all this time you were-" He shushed you.
"We'll talk about this later. There is only one thing I want to do now."
And he leaned to your lips once again. Two-man that you were respected and adored were the same man. And just you think you couldn't love him more.

Plans For The Future
You're seated on your knees, on the floor, before the coffee table where several sheets of paper are scattered around. The possibilities for your future. You left the League in the cave to discuss their business and came up here to do this. But it's been twenty minutes since you wrote down the last option, and you're still clueless.
“Any luck?” Barry is suddenly seated across from you, the wind he makes with he's speed messing with the papers. But he quickly gathers them again.
“No,” you mutter, feeling a little defeated. Seconds later the others are here too, and as if they were told to, they sit all around the coffee table, on the floor. Expect for Bruce, who sits on the couch, his legs near you.
“Isn't there anything you would like to do?”
“I can't really picture myself doing anything.” Running a hand through your hair, you sigh.
“You were so excited about it in the cave. What changed?" Diana asks, and you notice how everyone seems focused on you. In the last week, since they got back from Washington, the League seems very interested in you. There's a lot of effort to make you feel comfortable, and engage you in their conversations.
“Am I going crazy or are you guys like... Trying to make me get used to normal human interaction again?” Crossing your arms, you have your answer by the way they all exchange a glance and then stare at Bruce. “I knew it.”
“How did you find out?”
“Well, right now everyone is literally seated around the coffee table with me. Except for this weirdo here.” You elbow Bruce's leg, making Barry and Arthur giggle. “You're planning to take me out, aren't you?”
“You're very perceptive.” He says as he moves to seat on the floor with you, an arm around your shoulders. “I've been thinking about it for a while.”
“Do you think I can deal with the real world?” You ask him in a lower voice. You haven't been on the streets yet, and you're not sure how you'll feel among the people.
“Yes, I do.”
“You know people will think Bruce Wayne has a girlfriend, right? If we go out and you do things like hold my hand...” You bet it won't take half an hour for his name to be on the headlines again, and the news channels will talk about it. The world will know about your existence, and every girl who has her eyes on Bruce will know they lost their chance. “You'll have to keep a distance.”
“(Y/N), we're dating. I won't keep that a secret so yes, people will have to find out eventually.” He places a soft kiss on your nose before his lips connect to yours.
“Uhm... We're still here...” Barry mutters, reminding you of the public.
Weird how it only took half a second for you to forget you have company. “So... Now that I know why you guys are still around, help me find something to major in.”
“Let's see what you have here.” Diana starts, and everyone takes a piece of paper or two. “Doctor?”
“Nope. That was just a joke.” Bending over the table a little, you take the paper from her hand. “Moving on.”
“Nurse," Arthur says.
“Vet.” Clark reads.
“All jokes.” Wanting something isn't enough, you have to feel like you can do it. And you don't think you can.
“If you become a nurse you could patch him up.” Arthur gestures at Bruce who nods.
“Sweetheart if this is what you want you just need to say and I'll help you.”
“Me? A nurse? No way, it's too much for me. I need something easier.” You're not saying you're stupid, but why put effort into something on which you'll probably fail? No need to hurt your feelings.
“So you don't think you're smart enough?” Clark asks and you nod.
“If you weren't smart you wouldn't have survived this long as a criminal. And wouldn't have escaped the prison twice. Or fooled the Joker so many times.” Bruce says, and you tilt your head to the side a little, thinking. It did take some brain to do this stuff, calculations, memorization, and some random knowledge.
“It looks like this is what you want,” Arthur mumbles, elbows on the coffee table.
Nurses help people, and that's the exact opposite of what you did. You never really enjoyed hurting people though, at least not normal civilians.
“Yeah... I've been thinking about being a practitioner nurse.”
“You've been doing some research on the subject then.” Wonder Woman raises an eyebrow.
“Yes. They can diagnose diseases, initiate treatments, and prescribe medications. They're more independent.” Shrugging your shoulders, you lean closer to Bruce. “But I don't know. Maybe we should keep looking into the other options.” Pretending you're not insecure is useless. Building a life is both exciting and terrifying.
“No. I guess we found what you want to do.” Bruce says and kisses your cheek. You bite back a smile, but it escapes anyway. “Anything as long as you're happy.”
“I can die in peace now,” Arthur says, and everyone turns their heads to look at him. He simply gestures at you and Bruce as if it would explain everything. “I lived enough to see Batman being soft with someone. The rest of my life will be dull.”
It took long enough for the funny comments to start. “Let the man be, Arthur. Everyone softens when they find love.” Diana adds.
“Aren't you a little too young to be dating Bruce actually?” Barry asks, shrugging his shoulders. “Just-just saying.”
“I haven't really thought about that,” you say.
“I have,” Bruce admits.
“Obviously. In this relationship you're the morals part.” You start gathering the sheets of paper, making a small pile. “I'm the impulse part.”
“Impulse part?”
“I did kiss you out of impulse. I was trying to control myself for quite a while but the thought of another suicide mission finally made me give in.” Looking at him, you smirk. “What would you do if I didn't kiss you before the mission? Were you planning to tell me about your feelings?”
“Shouldn't we discuss that in private?” He raises an eyebrow, and you give the guys a glance before looking back at Bruce.
“We don't mind. Go on.” Barry mutters, getting an annoyed stare from Diana.
“Let's give them some time." She says before getting up. The others soon follow, but Barry is the last.
“The fast one seems very curious about Batman's love life,” you say in a sassy tone when you're left alone.
“He turned the mission in Washington a nightmare the moment I mentioned you.” Bruce moves closer, caressing your cheek.
“And how was that?”
“I told them we had to make it as quick as possible because I had someone to go back to.” He places a soft kiss on your lips and you can't help but smile. You can't believe that someone was you. “Then he just wouldn't let it go. And yes, I was planning on telling you how I felt.”
“What would you do if the feeling wasn't mutual?” Wrapping your arms around his neck, you move to sit on his lap.
“I was pretty sure you felt something for me.”
“Really? I was trying so hard to hide it.”
“Miss Quinzel. Master Bruce. Dinner is served.” Alfred announces and you're just about to stand up when Bruce lifts you up with him.
“Because that will make Barry stop sassing at you,” you tell him, not even bothering to ask him to put you down. He can carry you all the way he wants. It feels funny though, and good to float like this. But the best part is how close your faces are, so you take the chance to kiss him as he takes you to the dining room.
Dinner goes on very well. The chattering is constant, and you manage to get into the conversations. You do feel like you're getting along with the League. Maybe you'll do well with other people too. If you can deal with the supers, you can deal with regular humans. It gives you hope, makes you a little more excited to go out. For dessert, you have brownies, one of your favorites, with vanilla ice cream.
“(Y/N), you said something about a suicide mission?” Barry asks after Diana gives you more details about the Washington mission. “What was that about?”
“Yeah... It was a terrorist attack in New Mexico. They mounted a base there but we never knew their plans.”
“They send you in a mission completely in the dark?” Diana furrows her eyebrows.
“We're the Suicide Squad. Well, that's what we call ourselves. The official name is Task Force X.” You move in the chair a little, but you notice you're not as uncomfortable as you were before talking about it. Bruce says you have to accept who you were in order to be free to restart. Trying to ignore it will only allow the past to haunt you. “When the soldiers can't deal with it but it's still not bad enough to call the heroes, they send us. The whole point is that it doesn't matter if we die in the process. The order is to finish the mission. We're... Spendable.”
“I never heard of anything like that,” Clark says, shrugging his shoulders.
“Nobody is supposed to know. But it doesn't matter anymore. The mission was a success and I'd be fine with it if the guards didn't beat me up on my way back here.” You say it without really noticing what it means, but by the way they exchange glances with each other, there are questions in their heads. “Some of them knew me from Belle Reve. So they knew I was going back somewhere they wouldn't be able to punish me for my crimes. They said it was a taste from home.”
“Everyone who was in that van was fired.” Bruce's voice is heavy with anger. “And I doubt they'll get any other job in Gotham.”
“If you're in prison to pay for your crimes, why did they beat you? Isn't the confinement the punishment?” Barry raises his eyebrows, and Arthur nods.
“Uhm... Yes. In any other prison, yes. But Belle Reve is different. It's like we're not on Earth anymore they... They can do pretty much anything they want. Every man and woman who acts as our guards are military or ex-military. Soldiers... And they have so much hate for us.” The memories come back in flashes of lightning, flooding your mind. The pain is still a vivid dream, the darkness is still terrorizing. “I can only speak for myself but I'm sure almost everyone who gets there tries to fight, to run away. I did. And maybe... Maybe I deserved it, maybe what they did was right.”
“(Y/N), don't you think for a second that you deserved what they did to you. Just because someone is a criminal doesn't give them the reason to treat you like an animal.” Bruce takes your hand over the table, and you smile to feel his fingers brushing against the soft skin of the back on your hand.
“They don't treat animals like they treat us.” The acknowledgment is dark and heavy, and you feel as the atmosphere gets tense. The League seems uncomfortable, perplexed.
“What the hell happens in that place?” Diana is the first to speak up after several seconds of deep silence.
“I can only tell what happened to me. By the rumors, it depends on who we are. Killercroc, for example, is left alone in a hole on the ground. Me... I always fought back.” Taking a deep breath, you revisit the endless days you spent in hell. The longest year of your life. The terror was usually suffocated by anger, burning rage, but it was always there, creeping through the walls. “I was kept in the dark. The only light source came from the small gap under the door. It had a blueish glow. My cell was open three times a day, at 10 a.m., 04 p.m., and 08 p.m. The two first were to feed me. They put a straw through my nose all the way down to my throat and fed me with some kind yogurt.” You cringe at the memory, a shiver rolling down your spine. “The last one was the shower. If you can call that a shower... They made me take my clothes off and back up into a concrete wall and blast me with water from a hose. If the weather was hot, the water was ice cold... If it was cold, the water was so hot that it burned my skin.” As you speak, Bruce moves his chair closer to you, putting an arm around your shoulders.
“You don't have to tell us anything if it makes you feel uncomfortable,” Clark says in a low voice.
“No, it's ok... It's good to say it. To... Let it out.” Holding it inside has only screwed you up over and over again. Dealing with it alone has isolated you. And you don't want to be alone anymore. “Before or after the shower was usually when the beat me. Men, women... They didn't really mind if they were a 6ft tall man kicking me. The drugs, the... Several different kids of drugs they gave me numbed the pain, but it was worse, at least to me.” The tears are rolling down now, as you're looking at the table, holding Bruce's hand as if he's your anchor. “I knew my body was being broken, sliced, bones being fractured but I only felt the impact. It's a psychological torture they play alongside the physical one. They liked to know that I was feeling my body being hurt, but I could never feel it... The drugs never wore off, so they never treated to my wounds. I was always left there, in my cell, as the blood dried, as the darkness threatened to suffocate me but I always told myself I was Havoc. I was freaking Havoc and I did not only deserve that, but I also could deal with it. That I was used to the pain...”
“Alright, that's enough.” Bruce raises his voice, and you notice you were yelling. He pulls you close and you hide your face in the crook of his neck.
“I speak for everyone here when I say we're very sorry for everything you've been through,” Diana says, and you feel a hand on your shoulder. When you look up, you see that not only her but all the others are standing around you and Bruce. “And I'm sorry I brought up such terrible memories.”
“Thank you.” Your voice sounds terribly weak, and Bruce dries off some of the tears with his thumb. When you get up, Diana holds both your hands on hers.
“I want you to know that you have me now. To talk, to ask for help, anything.” Your eyes quickly fly through the others when they nod.
“More than Bruce's friend, you're our friend now,” Arthur says.
“So now you not only have friends but superfriends.” Barry steps ahead and pulls you into a hug. You're surprised at the sudden affection, but it feels nice. The others join you soon, and you're in the middle of a group hug.
Not for a single moment in your life you thought you'd ever had anything like this. “Guys, you know you don't have to do this,” you mutter because you can't help but think you don't deserve it, that you're not the victim. Guess you still have a lot to work on, and Bruce is right to still give you some therapy sessions.
“Of course we do. You're an incredible woman who overcame so much. And you truly seem to want to leave the past behind.”
“Clark's right. You're the proof that villains aren't too far beyond repair.” Arthur says with a smile.
“Thanks again.” You're blushing a little because you think they see you as more than what you are now. But it's good to know they believe you.
An hour later, you're on Bruce's bedroom, getting ready to sleep. You're reading about Gotham's University as Bruce brushes his teeth, getting a little confused by how complicated it seems to be accepted there.
“Bruce, all these papers... I don't know if I have them.” You complain, suddenly losing hope.
“I'll deal with them, don't worry.” He comes to the bed, sitting beside you and resting his back against the pillowy headrest. “Worry about studying.”
“And about the fact I'll be surrounded by people all the time.” You sigh, putting the tablet on the nightstand. “It's still confusing, you know. Terrifying sometimes.” You're used to making people fear you, and when that's not possible, they just hate you. Hurt you. You're not sure how you'd manage to stay in between. To be normal.
“The classes only start next semester, so you'll have some months to get used to people.” Bruce pulls you to lie down, and you lay your head on his chest. “Tomorrow we're going out.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yes. We'll walk around, buy you some new clothes, eat at a nice restaurant...” He caresses your hair, making it hard to keep your eyes open. “I'll be right there with you, so no need to get anxious.”
“Okay...” Noticing you're a little thirsty, you roll your eyes as you get up. “I need water. Do you want some?”
“No, thanks.”
“I'll be right back.” Crawling out of the bed, you make your way downstairs, straight to the kitchen. You hear low voices, so you walk slower, making sure you won't interrupt anything. When you get there, you see it's Diana and Barry, who's eating your ice cream. “Hey, guys,” you announce yourself.
“Hi, (Y/N),” Diana says as Barry waves with the spoon.
“You know this ice cream is mine, right?” Raising an eyebrow, you try to look mad. It apparently works because he gives an apologetic look and lowers the spoon.
“Sorry.” He mutters as you walk around the island, getting a spoon for yourself, sitting beside him and starting to eat too.
“Relax. It seems that I have to share now.” You keep the sarcastic tone, but Barry still doesn't seem to understand. “I'm joking. You can eat it, it's just ice cream.” You smile when he starts eating again. “Don't you want some, Diana?”
“No, thank you.” She raises the mug she's holding. “I usually just drink some tea before going to sleep.”
“Yeah. I just eat. I need a lot of calories.” Barry says with his mouth full of ice cream. “What about you?”
“Actually I just came to get some water. Bruce is waiting for me upstairs.” You forgot about the water, but now you feel thirsty again, so you get a glass and head to the fridge.
“You guys sleep together?” He asks.
“Barry.” Diana reprimands him, and that makes you giggle a little.
“We share the bed.” Shrugging your shoulders, you speak as you pour some cold water on the glass, closing the fridge and making your way back to where you were seated. “I have... Nightmares. They were more often before, but they still come. But when I'm with Bruce it's just... It's better.” You feel safe, secure, but you're too shy to tell them that. It's too much that you're telling about the nightmares, but it's a good sign that you're able to open up, even if it's just a little bit.
“You love Bruce, don't you?” Diana asks in a low voice.
Looking down at your half-full glass of water, you nod. Love isn't the word you use to express your feelings for Bruce, but that's just because you're way too scared to let those three words flow out. ‘I love you.’ You've been biting your tongue for quite a while now. Those words hold power, you know it, and you're scared that he doesn't feel the same way. “Don't tell him,” you beg, looking up at Diana.
“Why?” As she asks, Barry takes the ice cream and gets up, leaving the kitchen.
“Girl talk.” He mumbles on his way out. And yes, you feel a little more comfortable knowing it's just Diana.
“Because maybe it's too soon and... If he doesn't feel the same I'm afraid it'll push him away.” Your feelings for Bruce only grow, and even though being in love with someone is something new, you know how things should play out. Or you think you do. The fact that he's Batman and you're Havoc, a villain he tried to catch before, only makes everything worse.
“I know Bruce. He would never officialize a relationship if he wasn't one hundred and ten percent sure of his feelings.” She moves from her place at the table to seat across from you on the island. “And I understand that what you did before may get in the way but it only makes me even more sure about his feelings towards you. So yes, I think he loves you and there's no reason for you to be so scared.”
Taking a deep breath, you try to accept that. “How could he love me?” You inquire in a low voice because you can't help but go back, to remember who you were and what you did. You do regret it, and you do want different things now, to have a whole new life. But... Sometimes the fear of losing Bruce hits hard, and you start going back to your shell.
“Why don't you let me answer that?” His voice makes you jump, and you stand up abruptly. Your heart beats so fast that you can hear it on your ears, like drums.
“I'll get some sleep. Good night, (Y/N). Bruce.” Diana stands up and leaves the kitchen, as you stand there, looking at Bruce.
“You weren't supposed to hear any of that,” you mumble.
“But I'm glad I did. Let's head upstairs. We need to talk.” Nodding, you start following Bruce. “I need to make things clear with you, sweetheart.”
