Yes and let's stop calling it a "beer belly." How about "bear belly"?
If you're all about body positivity but make fun of men with hairline receiding or bald, fat, with a beer belly etc, no you're not.
Pretty sick and tired of seeing people laugh and trash men who are not tall skinny queer looking white dudes and be like "everyone is beautiful" in the same breath.

Hey guys!
I’m Currently working on a spreadsheet of books with fat main characters. I’ve added all of the fat positive books that I have personally read, plus quite a few from my tbr. I plan to keep researching and adding more but my scope is limited so I’ve also made a form for people to submit books to be added.
The goal of this list is to provide people with representation and to promote fat acceptance. That being said the books you submit don’t necessarily have to be positive rep. The only requirement is that the book is fictional and has an explicitly fat MC.
I have a section in the sheet that tells you whether the character loses weight before the end of the book and I might add a section for other content warnings if that ends up feeling necessary.
Hopefully this can turn into to a good resource for people!

Overview of some topics when it comes to drawing characters who are burn survivors.
DISCLAIMER. Please keep in mind that this is an introductory overview for drawing some burn scars and has a lot of generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. I'm calling this introductory because I hope to get people to actually do their own research before drawing disabled & visibly different characters rather than just making stuff up. Think of it as a starting point and take it with a grain of salt (especially if you have a very different art style from mine).
Talking about research and learning... don't make your burn survivor characters evil. Burn survivors are normal people and don't deserve to be constantly portrayed in such a way.

Consider supporting me on ko-fi if you find this to be helpful.
edit: apparently tum "queerest place on the internet" blr hates disabled people so much that this post got automatically filtered. cool!
second way more important edit: How are people seeing this post where I specifically talk about burn survivors being normal, real people, and still tag this as "TW body horror"? Not a single one of these drawings or pictures is a fresh injury. All of them are healed. How the hell would you feel if someone tagged a photo of you as "trigger warning: gore"?
Disabled people are not your fucking body horror. Grow up.

lil tip for everyone bc I feel like people often do the opposite of this out of internalized fatphobia
eat a big meal directly before trying on new clothes. you wanna know whether those outfits will still be comfortable on you after you've eaten. it's not shameful and is in fact very natural to be bigger at different times of day and it's okay to accommodate yourself feeling comfortable during those times too I promise 💛

As a trans man who has had to put painstaking work into body positivity, body neutrality, and my own sense of manhood, I can't help but feel so bad for men who have, seemingly, never felt permission to have any positive feelings about their body and their manhood.
Yes, body positivity and body neutrality are for you, men. You owe nobody washboard abs, or beautiful facial hair, or clear skin, or unblemished skin, or "masculine" features. Genuinely, you are under no obligation to perform any of it. The weight of those expectations is genuinely suffocating. Let yourself remove that yoke from your shoulders and actually live.

One 2015 study found that just seeing fat men more regularly increased attraction toward them in women who date men. The politics of desirability are shaped by who we are allowed to see as desirable, which is in turn shaped by who we are allowed to see.

"Fat folks have unique needs when it comes to body care and we often aren’t ever taught what those needs are. Because we have been taught to be ashamed of our bodies and view them as a punishment because we look the way that we do, we are often even discouraged from learning the proper techniques required to care for ourselves.
This guide is here to help fix that! It’s here to walk you through some of the starting steps I -- writer Sarah Biette --- took for myself that revolutionized the way I cared for my fat body, especially my skin. I’ll also talk about some of the stereotypes and judgements I had to work through while going on this journey. While I discuss my own experiences a bit in this article, I hope that you can see it as a jumping-off point to start your own relationship with caring for your body. The list of tips and tricks I have below is not at all exhaustive, and I would love to hear what methods have worked for you over the years!"
Check it out the rest of this amazing new piece here!

*no "see results" button because I'm not letting y'all get out of body positivity. if y'all want results you can find part of yourself to appreciate (even if it's small) and choose that
Edit: TERFS FUCK OFF
