Was out shopping at Don Don Donki and spotted this Nissin Cup Noodles Potato Chips - Black Pepper Crab (黑胡椒螃蟹). I know I have seen this flavour in cup noodles form but not in potato chips. Cutting open the bag, the V-cut chips doesn’t look impressive at all with oil stains on the potato chips. Although there doesn’t seem to be much black pepper, it does pack in some spicy heat but with barely any crab flavour, let alone any umaminess. I think I will just stick to the noodles in the future.
The other snack that I gotten was this Morinaga Bake Creamy Cheese which looks pretty yummy to me. If I am not mistaken, this item is sold exclusively in Don Don Donki. Sealed inside are ten small blocks of cheesecake-like snack. There is a cheese layer comprising of three kinds of cheese – 34% camembert, 45% cream and 6% mascarpone cheese. There is also a white chocolate layer sandwiched between two baked layers. Popping one into the mouth, the strong cheese flavour is evident, followed by the creaminess and then the saccharine sweetness hit you. Both me and mum think that it is far too cloying for casual snacking.

Crab Pasta
Creamy and delightfully spicy, this Crab Pasta makes a hearty and tasty dinner on chillier Spring nights. Happy Thursday!
Ingredients (serves 1):
1 1/2 cup short pasta (like penne rigate or rotini)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 shallot
2 fluffy sprigs Garden Parsley
half a dozen large leaves Garden Basil
1/4 teaspoon Red Chili Flakes
about 100 grams/3.5 ounces fresh crab meat, thoroughly drained
a pinch of fleur de sel or sea salt flakes and freshly cracked black pepper
1/3 cup crème fraîche or sour cream
1 lemon
In a pot of salted boiling water, cook penne according to package's directions, about 9 minutes until al dente.
Meanwhile, melt butter with olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Peel and finely chop shallot.
Once the butter is just foaming, add chopped shallot. Fry, a couple of minutes.
Finely chop Garden Parsley, stalks and all, and Garden Basil. Add three quarters of the chopped herbs to the skillet, along with Red Chili Flakes. Cook, 1 minute more.
Stir in crab meat, and cook, another 3 minutes. Season with fleur de sel and black pepper.
Stir in crème fraîche, mixing well.
Once the penne are cooked, drain quickly, saving about 1/4 cup of the cooking water, and stir both into the creamy crab sauce, until the pasta is beautifully coated.
Thoroughly squeeze in the juice of the whole lemon. Give a good stir.
Serve Crab Pasta hot, sprinkled with reserved chopped Parsley and Basil, and a glass of chilled dry white whine, like a Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc.

some descriptions under the cut :)
WINTERCAKE: "The taste of wintercake filled his mouth again, rich with ginger and pine nuts and bits of cherry, with nahsa to wash it down, fermented goat's milk served in an iron cup and laced with honey."
SISTER'S STEW: "The beer was brown, the bread black, the stew a creamy white. She served it in a trencher hollowed out of a stale loaf. It was thick with leeks, carrots, barley, and turnips white and yellow, along with clams and chunks of cod and crabmeat, swimming in a stock of heavy cream and butter. It was the sort of stew that warmed a man right down to his bones, just the thing for a wet, cold night. Davos spooned it up gratefully."
SNAILS: "Snails in honey and garlic. Sansa had never eaten snails before; Joffrey showed her how to get the snail out of the shell, and fed her the first sweet morsel himself."
BOWL OF BROWN: "...So thick you could stand your spoon up in the bowl, with chunks of this and that."
#asoiaf#polls#maybe the abundant food descriptions are for ME to salivate over#not sure on how kosher or halal this food is. the boar definitely isnt
