Israeli Scientists Identify Molecule Preventing Dental Cavities
Scientists at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Beer Sheva and their colleagues at Sichuan University in Chengdu and the National University of Singapore have identified a naturally occurring molecule that reduces the biofilm that produces plaque and causes cavities. The researchers found that the molecule 3,3?-Diindolylmethane (DIM), also known as bisindole, disrupted biofilm formation by…

I keep seeing a post going around saying that people should stop using the “colonized” names for cities in Israel/Palestine and should instead use the Arabic names.
I need you guys to be so for real right now, Hebrew is quite literally the indigenous language of the area. Like believe what you want about Israel, but Hebrew objectively and factually originated in that land. The earliest record of written Hebrew is the Khirbet Qeiyafa inscription, found near Beit Shemesh which dates back to the 11th-10th century BCE.
The first record of the name Jerusalem is in the Egyptian Execration Texts which date back to the 20th century BCE.
Arabic was introduced to the land in the 7th century CE. The first recorded use of “Al-Quds” was in the 9th century CE.
I could do this for every single ancient city in the land. Bethlehem, Hebron, Jericho, Jaffa, Beer Sheva, Acre, and Ashkelon all existed prior to the Arab conquests in the 7th century CE and the introduction of Arabic to the land.
The fact that we use the Hebrew names of these cities isn’t some conspiracy to make them sound “more Jewish”, the modern Hebrew names are direct descendants of the ancient Canaanite words for these places. Hebrew is the only surviving Canaanite language.
Believe what you want about Israel, but claiming that the Hebrew names for these cities are “colonial” names is a disgusting erasure of Jewish history in the land.

Israel just bombed a children’s park in Gaza!  That pissed you off to read, didn’t it?  Yea, well, it’s not true.  What is true is that Hamas just bombed a children’s park in Beer Sheva, Israel.  Feel a lot better now, right? Didn’t hear a word about it in the news, right? And you won’t.  Ask yourself why that is.  Here’s the park for your viewing pleasure!  Hamas are animals that need to be eliminated with zero exceptions.  If that sentence bothers you, I invite you to sit this one out and shut the hell up. No one cares what you think. Israel sure doesn’t.

Ben Benjamin Shimoni, 31, from Ashkelon managed to escape from the Nova party in Reim. He got into his car, picked up four people he didn't know and escaped from hell. He arrived in Beer-Sheva, unloaded the passengers and called his brother. In the ordinary world, this is where his story should end. A normal person would go home, hug his family, drink and be grateful for the miracle of his salvation. But nothing is normal here and Ben Benjamin Shimoni was not an ordinary person. Despite his brother's requests, he decided to return to the party and save the remaining friends. He entered the fire zone, rescued 8 more people and brought them to safety. Now he should be telling himself "that's it son you did enough you saved 12 lives go home" isn't it? But nope. Because Ben Benjamin Shimoni was no ordinary man. The common man, if escapes hell, does not return to it, the common man is driven by his own need to survive, not by the need to save others. A normal person is afraid. Ben Benjamin Shimoni was neither afraid nor an ordinary man. He's a man who's gone back to hell *a second time* because maybe this time he'll find his friends. This is a man whose love for humanity and kindness in him have overcome the main fear of an ordinary person - the fear of death. He is a man who looked death in the eye and won, twice. The third time, by gathering 3 more men, he collided with terrorists and was killed. for the third time death has won. Because in this world where nothing is normal, death defeats even abnormal people.
Ben Benjamin Shimoni was no ordinary man. He was an angel living among us. He was a hero, handsome and loved. In loving memory 🙏🏽

Daily update post:
A drone and rockets have been launched from Yemen at Israel. So for those following, Israeli civilians now know they're being targeted by Hamas (funded by Iran) from Gaza, Hezbollah (funded by Iran) from Lebanon, Syria (where Iran is backing the murderous Assad regime), Yemen (where Iran is funding the Houthis) while there are also on going attempts at independent terrorist attacks. That would be five fronts that the Israeli army is currently engaged on.
Israel has been conducting limited raids into Gaza for a while. They're meant to retrieve bodies of Israelis, collect intel, and destroy Hamas infrastructure that can't be struck from the air. Two nights ago, tanks joined a raid, last night that happened again, at a slightly larger scale. But it's still a raid, not a full scale ground incursion.
More and more rockets are hitting residential areas in Israeli cities, like Tel Aviv yesterday, Beer Sheva today, etc. Iron Dome has never been 100% full proof, the load of rockets means it's more likely to fail.

On Oct 7, a Hamas terrorist called his dad from the cell phone of an Israeli woman he had murdered. This is the conversation that the phone automatically recorded:
"Your son killed Jews." Not Israelis. Not Zionists. Jews.
In response, someone drew this cartoon:
Tumblr media
Literally every soldier I've listened to has talked about the attempt to save lives, where they succeeded, and where they failed. They all talk about the future ground action as what they need to do to protect the people of Israel. We can have a discussion on what can save Israelis from Hamas, but understand that this is how Israeli civilians and soldiers see it.
Every time I've heard the words "resistance" and "decolonization" thrown about as justification for violence, I've thought about India, and how it was decolonized through inspiring non-violent resistance.

This is Shosh Machol.

She, her husband Noy and their kids were hiding in the bomb shelter. Noy was holding the door to stop Hamas terrorists from breaking in, but they managed to shoot him through it. Shosh improvised a tourniquet that kept him from bleeding out, but then the terrorists started setting the house on fire. Realizing that the only way to keep the kids alive is to open a crack in the window, let oxygen in, Shosh told her husband she would have to let go of the tourniquet to do so. They both understood this meant he would bleed to death. "Do it," Noy told her. He didn't survive. Shosh and the kids did, long enough to be saved by the army.

In 1977, Zahir Muhsein, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and a military commander of the PLO, in an interview with the Dutch newspaper, TROUW, declared the Palestinian people to be a propaganda invention. His exact words:
“The Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct ‘Palestinian people’ to oppose Zionism.
“For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we claim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan”.
“It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing more than southern Syria” — Ahmed Shukeiry, head of the PLO, to UN Security Council, May 31, 1956
“… Palestine is not only a part of our Arab homeland, but a basic part of southern Syria.” — Syrian President Hafez Assad, Radio Damascus, March 8. 1974
“Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only practical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel …” — Zuheir Muhsin, Head of the Military Department and Executive Council, PLO, Trouw, March 1977
In the Quran, there are 10 passages which state that Allah bequeathed the land to the Jewish people. In all of these instances, it is written that there is not only the right but the obligation placed on the Sons of Israel to inherit the land. On the other hand, there is no mention in the Quran of bequeathing the land to Muslims, Arabs, Palestinians, or any other nation not called the Jewish people.

Sharing some more Polyevil hcs I have because I love them.
Going off my idea of Luis being a biology professor after RE4, he’s home alone the most because his boyfriends are off on missions a lot (Carlos included because I hc he’s with the BSAA). Because of this, he spends a lot of time prettying up Leon’s apartment and/or Chris’s house if he’s staying there. Both of them don’t care as long as he isn’t moving or breaking anything important.
Leon is the only one among them who’s not over six foot, and for that reason, whenever the others want him to stop drinking, they’ll just put his beer in a place he can’t reach with his height. He tries giving them puppy eyes in hopes they’ll allow him to have his alcohol, but it never works.
All four of them watch MLP because I think it’s funny. It started with Carlos watching it, Luis joined him, then Chris started watching it with those two, and finally, Leon, who won’t ever admit he’s watching it when it’s on.
Follow up to the last one, they all do have favorite MLP characters. Carlos’s is Fluttershy, Luis’s is a tie between Twilight Sparkle and Rarity, Chris’s is Rainbow Dash, and Leon’s is Applejack.
All four of them are cuddles, and keep in mind three of the four of them are considerably buff men. RIP Luis, you died due to your boyfriends’ cuddles (jk, he very much is alive and loves their cuddles).
I like to hc that Chris is the only cis one among the polycule because it’s silly. Leon and Carlos are trans (FTM), and Luis is genderfluid because I’m genderfluid, and his hair is very gender to me.
Between the four of them, they have “adopted” two sons and six daughters. One of them they actually raised (aka Rose), everyone else is just considered as a son/daughter to them (which is Jake, Piers, Sheva, Sherry, Manuela, Ashley, and Helena). Why am I saying this? They’re girl dads (/hj).
I recall sharing a hc about Leon and Luis having plushies, which are a wolf and a donkey, and they use them to cheer up Rose on her rough days. Chris and Carlos have one each as well, which Chris’s is a bear, and Carlos’s is a ram.
Speaking of Rose, after Ethan died, and Chris got custody of her once Mia left, the polycule have a strict rule not to replace her parents. They’ll do parent-like acts with her, but they’ll never force her to consider them as her parents. They don’t want her to replace the memory of Ethan and Mia with them.
They do movie nights to celebrate/welcome each other from getting back from work. Luis plans them most of the time as again, he’s the one home the most.
That’s all ✨

Since October 7, there has been no shortage of genocidal calls from Israeli leaders, as well as clear plans, also at ministerial level, for the complete ethnic cleansing of Gaza. And while the usage of biblical euphemisms like Prime Minister Netanyahu’s “Amalek” reference may appear too vague for some, even if the story suggests killing infants, on Sunday ret. Major General Giora Eiland, former head of the National Security Council and current advisor to the Defense Minister decided to spell out genocide more explicitly. In a Hebrew article on the printed edition of the centrist Yedioth Ahronoth titled “Let’s not be intimidated by the world,” Eiland clarified that the whole Gazan civilian population was a legitimate target and that even “severe epidemics in the south of the Gaza Strip will bring victory closer.” His bottom line leaves no doubt as to his view: “They are not only Hamas fighters with weapons, but also all the civilian’ officials, including hospital administrators and school administrators, and also the entire Gaza population that enthusiastically supported Hamas and cheered on its atrocities on October 7th.” [..] A concentration camp Eiland has a long history of being surprisingly forthright about his view on the state of the Gaza Strip. In 2004, then as head of the National Security Council, he regarded the Gaza Strip as “a huge concentration camp” as he advocated for the U.S. to force Palestinians into the Sinai desert as part of a “two-state solution.” As per a U.S. diplomatic cable leaked to Wikileaks here: Repeating a personal view that he had previously expressed to other USG visitors, NSC Director Eiland laid out for Ambassador Djerejian a different end-game solution than that which is commonly envisioned as the two-state solution. Eiland’s view, he said, was prefaced on the assumption that demographic and other considerations make the prospect for a two-state solution between the Jordan and the Mediterranean unviable. Currently, he said, there are 11 million people in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip, and that number will increase to 36 million in 50 years. The area between Beer Sheva and the northern tip of Israel (including the West Bank and Gaza) has the highest population density in the world. Gaza alone, he said, is already “a huge concentration camp” with 1.3 million Palestinians. Moreover, the land is surrounded on three sides by deserts. Palestinians need more land and Israel can ill-afford to cede it. The solution, he argued, lies in the Sinai desert. It is interesting to see Eiland recognizing such a reality even before the Gaza “disengagement” of 2005, before the election of Hamas in 2006, and before the genocidal siege of 2007, which has only been upped in its severity since October 7. At this point, regarding Gaza, as a concentration camp appears perhaps too weak a term — it has become an extermination camp.

Gives her a Mellon.
Sheva and all her girlfriends were living it up on the beach; she was slathered in sunscreen and shimmer lotion that smelled like soft cocoa and vanilla. Her waist was set with gold and pale sea shells that dangled and crowned the full of her hips.
Energetic music flowed from the boom box on the heap of sand along side of their towels, and the coolers dripped with condensation from the slow melting ice. They wede all a little tipsy, and Sheva had the moutj of an open beer to plump lips-' the chilled, bubbly, liquid burst flavor against her tongue as she tiled her head back to take a sip.
"Sheva! You know... that thing?" Rebecca said it slyly, calling her attention. When she looked her best friend's way, Becca is holding a watermelon in both arms, speckled in droplets of water. "They don't believe me."
With a chuckle, Sheva leaned down, set her bottle firm in the sand, and made motion to receive the fruit. "All right, but I'll do it only once. I hate to waste food." Their companions gather around, filled with giggles and chatter, eager for the show.
Dropped down onto her towel, Sheva set the melon between bare and strong thighs and wiggled until it set right. With her hands braced behind herself and her friends watching with baited breath, she tensed and began to squeeze. The muscle in her legs flexed, hard as stone and prominent, and her core drew tight as she drew her legs together with determination.
At first, there was no change, just her jaw clenched and a sharp breath from her nose...but slowly the hard flesh of the watermelon began to spider, crack, and soon the juicy inside began to trickle down her skin. The girls let out a squeal of surprise when it finally burst open, leaving a mess of sticky sweet between her legs.
Rebecca grinned from ear to ear, her arms crossed beneath her chest as the others let out a cheer.
"Told you."

This is a hero named
Neria Siboni, who was seriously injured from the terrorist shooting attack in Beer Sheva this week. He said: "I heard the terrorist shouting, so I shouted out the Shema Yisrael prayer and ran towards him unarmed, only with my bare hands. I knew I was taking him one on one."
The terrorist shot him and it puntured his lung but he did not stop until he saw that the terrorist was eliminated. Only after checking that his wife was okay did he allow himself to collapse.
Neria is the nephew of the legendary Brigadier General Ofer Winter.

by Jack Engelhard
So this time it’s not 1,000 for one. Well, that’s an improvement. This time it’s 150 Arab terrorists in exchange for 50 Israeli hostages.
To some, that’s considered a win. Hey, look, we didn’t cave completely, only partly.
Did you get back all the hostages in this deal? That would have been something. But you didn’t. Abraham was also a lousy bargainer. Maybe that’s where this starts.
Frankly, I had intended to write something upbeat, especially when my IDF brothers in arms are fighting like lions inside the belly of the beast. (My guys were the Navy.)
But like you, dear reader, I am so damn depressed. Literally, where’s the light at the end of the tunnel?
I hardly hear any talk of victory any more. Mostly, the talk I’m hearing is about those “innocent Gaza civilians” and how Israel’s NUMBER ONE priority is to keep them safe.(Not Netanyahu and the government, thank G-d - they promise to go on to the end of Hamas and called its leaders "dead men walking" just last night.)
That’s the ballgame?
Secretary of State Antony Blinken thinks hardly about anything else, which is why he keeps traveling to Israel…to press the point.
There he is again this week…also to put the squeeze on Israel for “the day after,” which is a column for later.
He’s getting ready…with Biden, and the State Department…to swamp Israel ought of existence through another two-state solution, only this time with MORE land for the Arabs.
You heard that right. More land and THIS TIME they will be happy campers. Blinken is betting on this, with Israel’s money.
Which Israeli government will push back and resist? Or will it always be back to square one?
I am not confident. History tells us that leftist elements in Israel are always ready to concede for the “sake of peace in our time.” Per Neville Chamberlain.
Will it constantly be the same merry-go-round?
Nor can I forget the peaceniks who gave us Oslo, and the man, Ariel Sharon, who brought us to this pass when he gave this good Jewish land over to the Arabs. Hence, Hamas.
In earlier columns we proved that there are no innocent Gazans. They are all the same. One part does the killing, the other part does the cheering.
Dear Israel…how often will you let them play you like a fiddle? The enemy seems always a step ahead of you. Certainly the case Oct 7. Thereafter, as well.
We’re supposed to be so smart. They never produced an Einstein, and we have won 214 Nobel Prizes to their ZERO…all for what, when it comes to our survival.
Yet so often they outsmart us. We’re told that the 150 terrorists being released are really good terrorists. Quite harmless. Yet among them, we are learning, there exists car rammers, knife stabbers, suicide bombers, and outright murderers. BUT…they have been koshered by the government because they are only 99.9 percent like Hamas, not 100 percent. They did not succeed in their plans to murder Jews.
So, as of this writing, the deal is on…that is, for this group of 50…200 more to go.
Why art thou downcast O my soul? (David)
Because I know what’s coming. Hamas is going to drag this along for two years…one gift at a time…five, 10, maybe 20 hostages incrementally.
I so terribly hope I am wrong.
They can play this game down to one hostage left to taunt us with a Shalit all over again.
Meantime, the IDF will be stymied, the leadership, stalemated.
Let it not be so.
Hamas has this all figured out. Do the Israelis? How is it that Hamas gets to call the shots? Yes, Israel should have insisted on the release of all the hostages at once.
Or else, fire and brimstone of Biblical proportions. It’s what Churchill would have done…and did. Victory at all costs.
After all that, there is this: my niece Miriam, whose children live in Beer-Sheva…anyway, Miriam sends me the talks given by the Rebbe.
I listen to them every day…and they do uplift, give strength, and optimism. There shall be no despair. Israel…the Jewish People…will prevail.
Heck, I’m trying to be upbeat. Work with me.

[Nivanfield] We met again
This is the first chapter, so I put Nivanfield into the title. These stories happened after RE8.
Summary: One night, three stories. Chris Redfield achieved an assignment about Winters, going back to his home. Sheva Alomar also took a flight to meet Jill Valentine at her home. Claire Redfield and Moira Burton finally could have a rest on this day.
Notes: I think I could finish three chapters these days.
I don’t know why I prefer to put the whole story into the night. Maybe we could express our feelings without pretending we could finish everything during this time. I really don’t know.
When Piers Nivans arrived at his home, he found Chris Redfield had already sat on the sofa. Chris only wore a black T-shirt and underwear. Although they had a fireplace, he thought Chris should wear shorts. He put off his jacket, putting it on the coat rack.
Chris tried to keep his legs straight, grabbing a bottle of beer and staying his eyesight on the TV.
“I thought you won’t be back tonight,” Chris said.
Piers knew this night could be difficult to spend, so choosing to sit a little far away from Chris, asking the other if finished the dinner yet. He could not find any food containers on the table or a trash bin. He could make a sausage pizza from a ready-made pizza base. Chris moved around to get closer to him, putting the bottle on the table. The movement wasn’t steady, making the remained beer spill.
Piers knew Chris wanted to say something, so keeping silent but didn’t get any response. Chris only picked up that bottle, continuing to watch TV shows. He didn’t ask or notice where he had visited until Chris asked him first. He answered that he only went to the store but didn’t buy anything.
Chris still gazed at Piers, giving a bottle of beer from the corner of the table to him. He didn’t have an appetite for dinner, choosing to drink beer when he found no one at home. He thought he could drink till tomorrow morning, but Piers’ arrival interrupted his plan. He only found he could not talk fluently but could do other things except it.
Yesterday, he achieved his assignment about Winters. Rose would grow up later. He could not imagine what the appearance of Winters’ daughter would be like. He hadn’t told Piers the ending of this story yet and didn’t know if Piers would comment something about it. He chose to talk about it later, preferring to drink beer first.
Piers didn’t get any response, so sitting from his seat, planning to make dinner for Chris. During that time, Chris began to ask what he would do, and his arm rested on the back of the sofa.
“Sausage pizza. You should have your dinner, Chris.” Piers took out the sausage and pizza base from the fridge, starting to simmer some tomato sauce. He cut the tomato into slices, putting it into a pot. Chris came here to watch how he made dinner. They met with each other two months ago. Piers wrote the date on the calendar.
“Two months. Let me do this.” Chris also remembered the date, hoping Piers would rest during this time. Piers didn’t leave, standing around to watch how Chris would do for this dinner. The tomato sauce had been made. He tasted the sauce using the spoon and then added garlic and onions to it.
While waiting for the heated oven, they sat closer to watch the sitcom. Chris didn’t want to watch these shows, hoping Piers could say something to start a chat.
Piers drank beer with him, only finishing one bottle. Almost ten years passed, Piers only drank at the festival and birthday parties. Although he didn’t drink too much, he still bought whiskey and beer when he went to the store.
Chris sank himself into the sofa, hearing Piers say something.
“Christmas is coming. Do you have any thoughts on it?”
He preferred to know how Mia and Rose spent their time on this day. They maybe just stay at home. He visited their house during dinner time but didn’t notice the decoration of the house.
Piers’ expression became anxious, asking him what had happened in these days. He began to open his mouth to say something about the whole story, but the oven’s alarm was ringing. Piers left the sofa, putting the glove into his hands to take the cooking pan out of the oven. The pizza was removed from the pan and then transferred into the wooden tray.
Chris chose to grab one piece of pizza, starting to finish his dinner. After sending the dinner to him, Piers seemed not to sit back on the sofa.
Piers said he should leave their home for a while. When Piers wanted to put his jacket on, Chris hoped to help him to put the coat on. Chris wore this coat before heading out to the village. He remembered he bought this coat about five years ago.
Before Chris and his team planned to break into Winters’ home, Chris had a nightmare about Piers one night. The nightmare made him almost forget when he slept. He forgot to call Piers and Claire one time a month, so starting to call Piers. It was a late night, and he didn’t know if Piers would pick the phone up to chat for a while. Piers did still awake, wrapping a gift for Natalia Korda. He didn’t know the exact birthday of this little girl. Piers told him Natalia had no interest in holding a birthday party but still wanted to send some gifts for her. Tomorrow was this girl’s birthday.
When Piers asked Chris how he was going, he just said everything went in the right direction. Piers nodded, “Just go to sleep. Don’t worry about the plan.”
Chris sank his head into the pillow, thinking about when they could meet again. Three years ago, Ethan Winters had been trapped in the old house. He could not imagine the whole thing would be in this situation.
As they chatted for an hour, Piers suddenly off the phone. That made him want to know what had happened, so he dialed the phone number. He couldn’t get a response from Piers. When he tried to dial about three times, he finally heard the other’s voice. Piers said the power of the phone was just off.
“Sorry, I just forgot to charge my phone. Are you all right?” Piers said.
Chris didn’t know how to reply. It made him remember the plan about breaking into Winters’ house. They would cut the power off first and then kill Miranda, Ethan Winter’s fake wife.
“We talked too much. You really should go to sleep, Chris. I know you can’t sleep, so trying to think of better things. When you are back, we can walk the dog together. Anyway, you should call Claire first, not me.”
Chris hoped they could talk longer after this assignment. “I will call her later. Take care of yourself, Piers.”
“You too, captain.” Piers ended the chat.
Chris insisted on putting his coat on Piers. Piers didn’t refuse him. He knew this coat wouldn’t fit Piers’ figure, but he still wanted to put this cloth on his lover. For about ten years, he was still Piers’ boyfriend. Maybe they would like to have a wedding in the future, but no one would know if Chris got some time to do it or if Piers agreed to marry him.
Piers guessed that if he walked away from their home, they could have an easier night. He would go back to their home one hour or two hours later. He also guessed someone had already died in this assignment, but he didn’t know who she or he was. They would talk about this later if Chris would like to talk.
Chris didn’t say something to let Piers stay at home. He stood around the door, saying goodbye to Piers.
