Sort of Reverse Batman AU where Bruce is de-aged to about 10 or 11 years old and effects of the spell or whatever de-aged him will be long enough that no one can convince him to stay out of the field. Dick decides to let Bruce go out but there is a catch. Dick is once again filling in as Batman and Bruce Wayne is now the newest Robin.

I adore Damian, he's literally my favorite guy, and I literally call him my son. However, with all of that love I say, I don't think he should inherit the Batmantle.

Personally, I think he should just retire and only be brought out of retirement for like- World-Ending threats that NEED all hands on deck. Maybe he can be like the late Dr.Leslie Thompkins and be the go-to doctor for heroes. Surgeries on supers and all that.

I also fully believe that if any of Bruce's children are going to take up the Batmantle, it should be Cass. Because Cass has the best understanding of what it means to wear the symbol of the Bat. She's scary, efficient, and keeps to a clear set of morals. In some comics it's even shown that she's sneakier than the Bat.

Even then, I think it's okay for someone else to take up the Batmantle, someone with absolutely no relation to Batman.

Like Terry McGinnis (before they decided he would be related to Bruce), someone who came to the same conclusion that a Batman was necessary. Someone who separately carries the same beliefs that Bruce formed in that dark alleyway a lifetime ago. I don't fully believe the Batmantle should be limited to those once housed within Wayne manor.

Which, in that reality, I think Babs would be an amazing mentor. She could continue assisting as Oracle, and share her knowledge from her Batgirl days. A true final form for everything she's been. Plus, it gives the other Bats a chance to continue their lives. Afterall, Barbara was raised in Gotham, with her father being the Police Commissioner and first ally of Batman. It'd be a fun little moment for her to act as the new Batman's teacher.

I ALSO think it'd be cool for Tim to take-up the mantle of Oracle to give Babs a chance retirement. (He doesn't have to be called Oracle, but I think it'd do him some good to get away from Robin-adjacent names) He has the intelligence and the experience within the field. Plus, I see him as becoming the CEO of Wayne Enterprise so it works out for him to finance the new Batman.

In all honesty, I think it works out to just have the poor fool who takes up the Batmantle accidentally inherit the family too. Because that vigilante means too much to them to just not work with the guy.

Could propose a fun future where Babs, Tim, and Damian take up the respective roles of Alfred, Lucius, and Dr.Thompkins. Alfred's role being the ground support/first ally.

Hell- If you were to use Dick's cop background, we could even have Commissioner Grayson. Who went back to police work in his retirement. Plus, imagine the parallel between Babs and Dick doing their father's work.

Don't you just love it when a post runs away from you, this was originally supposed to just be about Cass. Now I might have a full AU on my hands...

Story where Jason and Dick get into a fight (both are young) and Jason goes to Bruce like this "Hey, b, remember you said you'll replace anything i broke"

"Did you break your gameboy?"

"Nah, but my brother is not brothering right so i want a new one"

And Bruce doesn't know what to say to that, but a few hours after they go to a gala and at some point, little Jason comes back again "B, b!"

"Yes, Jay?"

"Remember what i said about wanting a new brother"

" yes...?"

"I want this one" He says, holding little Tim by the armpits

Can you imagine the Batfam looking after a toddler? Just a fussy little guy with round cheeks

Imagine 4 year old Damian being smart for his age and being very well spoken because Bruce talks to him normally instead of simplifying his speech or baby-talking him

Damian: Father

Bruce: Yes, son

Damian: I require applesauce

Bruce: Require?

Damian: I desire applesauce

Bruce: Okay, I think we can make that work

Damian being a smart toddler but he's still a toddler and can be redirected pretty easily

Like imagine Damian getting fussy because Jason has to leave and he can't go with him, so Dick is like "Hey bubba, you wanna go watch an animal movie?" because Damian likes nature documentaries, and Damian stops like mid-cry like ".... Yes," and he raises his little arms to be picked up

Also:

Bruce: Hey bubs, you wanna go to the zoo?

Damian: No.

Bruce: Why not?

Damian: Animals don't like the zoo, so I don't like the zoo.

Bruce: That's a valid argument. Do you want me to buy the Gotham zoo and turn it into a sanctuary and give them more space and better conditions?

Damian: Yes, I would like that

Batman and Robin origins? Maybe! I like traumatizing the boys...

Bruce hadn't meant to snap so hard, his own words sounding almost venomous as he told the officer off, pushing the man's hand away. He could feel everyone's eyes on them. On him and the boy. Poor innocent Bruce Wayne Dick Grayson, heir to the Wayne fortune youngest of the Flying Graysons, lost his parents one cold rainy night to a mugging gone wrong to a performance gone wrong, gang involvement tearing apart another family. As Bruce held the young boy closer to his chest, he refused to let any of the cameras catch a glimpse of the crying child, his coat wrapped around Dicks body and face, the warm wool interior protecting him from the horrible reality he would eventually have to face.

Bruce shifted away from the police that kept trying to pester Dick for a statement, outright demanding they leave the boy to grieve. His arms wrapped tighter around Dick, feeling the heaving sobs the child let out against his shoulder becoming worse and worse as the sirens and flashes and voices grew louder, more desperate for answers and a story than the mental wellbeing of a child who just lost his parents. Looking up, Bruce caught Alfred gaze, pleading for the older man to take them home instead of letting the child end up as he had.

When this had all happened to Bruce, Alfred hadn't been there fast enough. He just wasn't there in time to protect Bruce the way Bruce was trying so hard to protect Dick.

He remembers being alone and afraid. He remembers having photos taken of him while he cried over his parents' bodies. He remembers begging for help, only to receive no aid from anyone. And Bruce absolutely will not let another child feel as hopeless as he had that night. He swears on his own life that no child would ever be subjected to that again.

AU that the batkids are all serious and bat-like ONLY WHEN BATMAN ISN’T AROUND

Like when they’re on their own team/out of Gotham? Most respected, calm and serious person there. They have a plan and it will work. “Oh yeah I memorized all the exits and people here the second I entered, you didn’t?” That’s them.

But in Gotham w/ Batman? Pranks galore and singing on patrol, they forget to sleep and forget to eat. When Batman tells them their gonna have a longer patrol they all sigh and complain while trying to give other siblings their work in exchange for doing that sibling’s chore.

But nobody knows that they act like that!! Batman would say something like

“Gosh my kids blew something up I have to go,”

AND EVERYONE WHOSE EVER MET THEM IS ALL CONFUSED LIKE “BUT THEIR A BAT?!?! HUH??!”

and Batman would respond

“Oh yeah you know them, always doing something their not supposed to”

You know what I need more of? The Batkids completely fucking with the Justice League and their rogues and coming up with stories for their existence.

Like I am talking about the creation of demigods sort of stories, like Loki sort of stories.

Duke has convinced all of Gotham that he's the Bat Signal brought to life and that's why he's never seen at night and why the signal literally doesn't work during the day. He's waiting giddily for the story to spread outside of the city.

The batkids have convinced half the League that Nightwing is quite literally Batman's lovechild with Justice. Hey, Constantine had a one night stand with the manifestation of a city and they've dealt with gods before, so surely it's not that surprising? Right???

I need more of the Batkids being little shits, of Alfred the-greatest-enabler Pennyworth backing them up and Bat(the-biggest-troll)man to never confirm the stories, but he doesn't deny them either.
