The city of Bakhmut, more than a year after its "liberation" by russia. It used to be one of the very few cities in the east of Ukraine where some of the historical architecture has been preserved, as most of it was lost during WW2 and replaced with soviet ugliness.
Wine was made here, salt was mined, metal was processed, and more than 70,000 people called it home.
Then russia came and took it all away.

🎮While playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R., remember Volodymyr Yezhov, one of its developers who died defending Bakhmut in December 2022. His face inspired the character Loki — both in-game and in life hero.

Bakhmut, Ukraine
Two years ago, this was a well-to-do city of 70,000, a Ukrainian regional center.
It was well known for the Hotel Atlantic many people use to stay at. Many also loved a very good sushi bar called Izumi at Bakhmut's central square.
It was a city of coffee shops, soccer stadiums, flower beds, fountains, and a famous local sparkling wine brand.
Now see what Russia has turned it into.
It's now a giant grave that will never see any life again.

«They fought for Bakhmut and performed a feat that prevented the enemy from advancing further into our East. Each of them is a hero of our state.
Among those who are being returned from captivity, many were considered missing. The relatives of these people went through a difficult stage,» - the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
