Here's a funny kinda nostalgic post for commenting on.
In Husbandry Warhammer what media normally designed more for kids do Space Marines enjoy? (Aka what media are they latching onto because it is healing their traumatized inner child?)
I'm gonna go through some of my totally unbiased opinions. And if you're favorite legion isn't on here...
Comment it with your thoughts!
Thousand Sons - Take your damn pick there's so much magic based media but of course the Owl House is up there for recent examples.
...some of the Loyalist Thousands Sons do get a bit...existential when the plot line of the tyrannical Emperor Belos gets expanded upon.
Ironically despite its fictional nature Thousand Son or other psycher space marines use certain scenes in it almost like training videos for their offspring.
Ultramarines - You can't Tell me these guys wouldn't like Bob the Builder, and Thomas the Tank Engine. The main characters are Blue and so much of trains and building is logistics! And Cyberspace! Logistics is mostly math so Cyberspace is in there too.
Death Gaurd - Zoboomafo, the focus on flora and fauna is quite enjoyable for marines literally in tune with the cycle of life. Children's shows in general often use simpler language which is easier to understand or translate for Marines still coming to grasp with ancient terran languages. The similarly enjoy The Wild Thornberries
Nightlords - Goosebumps. They LOVE Goosebumps and 'Are you afraid of the Dark?' No I will not explain it.
Blood Angels - Art Attack! Never watched the show myself but Damn it looks fun! And perfect for craft inclined Blood Angels.
Alpha Legion - The animated Carmen Sandiego cartoon! Deception, mystery and most importantly disguises! What more could a hydra want? And Blue Clues...because.
Salamanders - Dragon Tails. Love watching it with their family or kids. The show has a big focus on family itself and giant lizards it's practically made for them! Would probably also like Dinosaur Train.
Emerperors Children - Steven Universe. The art, the music, the messy drama of the characters that makes them weep and the existential dread of being similarly tied to a parent or family that is...complicated.
They find a lot of comfort and catharsis in it.
Black Templars - Veggie Tales. Okay JK kinda they would like that just swap out God for God Emperor. Also...Winnie the Pooh.
Is it just because Pooh is Yellow like their gene father? That's not entirely it but they approve of the little yellow bear who isn't the brightest but he does his Best Okay!
I could also see them using it as another weird allegory for the God Emperor loving and protecting because in quite a few episodes of "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh," Christopher Robin shows up to help Pooh and Friends out of their predicaments.
Iron Warriors - Reboot! My sister loved this show as a kid, and given its focus on computers/a digital world I could see them enjoying it! Also they like Cyber Space because Math. And...Chip and Dale rescue rangers But! They like it specifically for the scenes with Gadget because she makes cool things and they also want to make cool things/find a way to make them work.
See a video on AstartikTok about an Iron Warrior making a remote controlled roller skate and putting the families pet rat on it.
The rat is unharmed and even seems to enjoy the ride.
Dark Angels - Redwall. God that series gave me Nightmares but it Was still technically a kids show....technically. Also Jane and the Dragon, they like the medical aesthetic.
Space Wolves - No I'm not saying paw patrol. Blue Clues and Bluey! But All the legions have Marines who like Bluey! There's hardly a demographic on this planet that doesn't have a legion of Bluey Fans!
Also the old Tarzan Disney animated series because it was actually pretty damn hot shit! And full of cool action scenes fighting giant frightening animals.
White Scars - My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. Yes because horses, and yes because it espouses the values of community and collaboration and it has a kicking soundtrack. And White Scars are one of the few legions who both accept psychers but also acknowledge their inherent danger. They have a big focus on meditation and not becoming lost to the power you wield and finding support in those around you. They appreciate the similar messaging in the show.
War Hounds and World Eaters - Lazy Town. Because all of them want to become as strong as Sportacus and be able to lift a fuckin pyramid with a grappling hook from an airship!
Please stop them, the Pyramids of Giza need to stay where they are. Don't let them cause an international incident.
Ravengaurd - Ruby Gloom. They enjoy the macabre atmosphere merged with the cheerful main character. Plus the music isn't half bad.
Some tags for ya'll if you wanna jump in! And don't hesitate to comment about legions already mentioned if you've got more ideas about shows they'd like.

King really has a whole thing about being seen as a toy, a pet, for people to own and play with without his permission. An object to look nice and pretty and not much else, without any wants or needs of his own.
Tumblr media
So it feels very poetic that he constantly surrounds himself with toys and plushes to command over; King’s whole Tyrant schtick isn’t just a fantasy for him, it’s a way for him to reclaim lost autonomy by exercising his own control. It’s as if King FEELS like a toy, so he commands other toys because he’s essentially one of them. And it reflects on his juvenile nature, not being taken seriously, the revelation that it’s only ever been pretend, etc.
That makes King’s relationship with Francois very sweet, as a toy from the human world he finds, no thanks to Luz helping him. Luz is someone whose physical cuddling and affections King DOES appreciate, because by the end of the day, Luz respects King as a person and his boundaries. King wants affection actually, but he wants it on his own terms, and there’s a lot of moments where he ‘commands’ Luz and she happily obliges, defends him, etc. Luz is very thoughtful of King’s feelings, and The Intruder is a major episode in which Luz learns to be more mindful of King in general; This of course wins the approval of his father the Titan, who decides to show Luz the light glyph for her kindness.
         But anyhow, King loves Francois and treats him kindly, often as a partner and even equal. So with all I’ve said about King’s toy motif, that transitions perfectly into his dynamic with the Collector. There’s the fact that in their initial interactions, the Collector glomps onto a clearly uncomfortable King, like a child with a pet he doesn’t quite understand is a living creature (and in King’s case, not just a pet either but a person). Dana’s own art encapsulates their relationship by portraying King as a terrified plush that the Collector loves;
Tumblr media
The Collector is also juvenile and loves to play pretend, and treats people like toys, which is exemplified by them transforming victims into literal toys, who are dressed up to look even prettier. But for all their issues with boundaries, the Collector seems to genuinely love and value their toys, kind of like King with Francois.
This contrasts them with Belos, whom they believe breaks his toys out of fun; That speaks to their different desires, hence the Collector insisting they want to make friends out of others, whereas Belos finds it more simple and satisfying to just destroy his enemies. So the Collector regards his toys as, well, toys; But with a sort of loving respect that a kid who takes good care of their toys and makes sure they’re taken care of does. A projection of feelings and personality… Over the actual feelings and personality that DO exist, but alas.
But that’s where the Collector’s relationship with King develops, because over the course of two months, they begin to respect and listen to King more, value him as a friend, etc. The Collector is more mindful of King’s boundaries, doesn’t immediately glomp onto him, actually bothers to respond to King’s criticisms. When King says the Owl Beast isn’t ready, they listen, and it’s implied the Collector has known about King visiting Eda and Lilith behind their back, but simply allowed it because friends keeping secrets is totally normal, right? And anyhow, King has been so nice, and they love King so much, they don’t want to call him out and ruin things; He can have this.
Which leads to Francois, whom King relates to; The toy that the Collector WANTS to cuddle with. But King sets the boundaries that it’s for him (and Luz) only, and the Collector actually listens. He doesn’t touch Francois behind King’s back, and aside from a moment where he has to take it from Belos’ grasp to defend Francois, puts it right back where it belongs. He can’t have Francois, but the Collector can settle for having him BE there, so close and yet so far.
Tumblr media
King is Francois; He’s a beloved toy to the Collector that he loves and appreciates, treats more special than the rest, and practically as a person, a lot of the time. But he’s willing to respect Francois’ boundaries and not play with him when he doesn’t want, just as he does with King, and his visits to his mother and aunt. The Collector obviously has a lot to learn when we check up on them two months later, and King understandably still IS frustrated, hence why he calls out the Collector after the nightmare illusions at the beginning of the series finale…
But King can tell, as a former, unruly child himself, who was only a non-issue because he lacked the power the Collector wields; The Collector is a kid like him. Who’s also learning. Who ultimately means well. And they’ve proven to be rather receptive over these two months; Not quite there, but if you put in the effort to teach and work with them, King is certain it’ll pay off as it did with him.
The Collector was a tyrant like King, and like King, a lot of this comes after being helpless because of others as well; The Collector was put into the care of the manipulative Archivists, and later trapped by the Titan. The only way to contact them was with a disc, an object, and their word was exploited by Bill so he could lead the Titan Trappers and finish the genocide of the Archivists. If the Grimwalkers were toys to Belos, so was the Collector, for him to hide away from everyone else, as his own, like a twisted Francois. And when he’s done with the Collector, he drops him into the pit with the rest of the discarded toys he loves to break.
So like King, the Collector being a tyrant isn’t just the result of kids being kids, it’s also a response to their lack of agency. And tbh, kids in general lack agency, hence why they can be quite unruly troublemakers and rebels, so it makes sense that the Collector also overcompensates, like King does! But both of them learn to be more mindful of boundaries, that their own pain doesn’t justify them doing the same to others, either.
The Collector notes that King isn’t the only person allowed to touch Francois; There’s also Luz. Luz, the kindly older sister who always listened to King and was attentive to his needs, respected him, and was often desired for physical affection. The Collector wants to BE Luz since King admires her so much, hence emulating her while playing Owl House; And Luz also recognizes their similarities, with the forgiveness she gives the Collector, being a form of forgiveness towards herself for being an ‘unruly’ child.
And the Collector also grows, has their loss of innocence, but nevertheless matures, as Luz did. They learn about death, just as Luz learned about death when she lost her father; And the Collector technically loses the Titan that night, who was arguably a turbulent father figure who failed them, too, and laments this fact to Luz. The Collector IS Luz, and like Luz in The Intruder, who gains the approval of the Titan with a light glyph, just as the Titan apologizes for the Collector and lends his power to protect them and others…
Tumblr media
The Collector mends their friendship with King and makes it real. They respect and listen to him completely now. And so they get to finally be Luz, not just in their relationship with her, but also in their relationship with King, being allowed to love Francois, even being given him for company by King. Just as Luz is allowed to be King’s friend, and he follows her regularly, even sacrificing himself for her at the end of Season 2.
King and the Collector are toys who want toys to reverse that dynamic; But in the end, nobody can be a toy. And so they grow up and get to play with actual friends, and be friends to others.

What makes the Lunter people so insane is that LUZ ISNT EVEN ATTRACTED TO HUNTER.
Dana is not unwilling to show Luz be attracted to other people. She showed Luz at Emira, Edric, and the shirtless ripped tan puppet. 3 people besides Amity that Luz has shown attraction to , you know who is not on that list of 3 people HUNTER!
The ONLY reasons people ship Hunter and Luz is because they have an irrational hatred of Amity, are SUPER homophobic, or are trying to make an Evelyn and Caleb connection and are RACIST.
Two out the three characters she was into before Amity were guys to, so she liked an equal number of guy and girl characters. But somehow it's "biased" that she ends up with one of the girls.
(Although there was some guy DeviantArt who made a TON of ship art of Luz and Edric. Because they did want to ship Luz with Amity and Edric was the only (white) guy at the time. They were ALL OVER Google images including art of Amity crying while Luz chooses a guy over her)
Also people who hate Amity but love Hunter are baffling to me, it's giving sexism. Like they're the exact same type of character, they just have different types of dynamics with Luz (and they BOTH tried to hurt Luz at first before anyone tries using that excuse)
But the "Hunter and Luz are a parallel to Caleb and Evelyn" has got to be the epitome of the fandom making shit up. The show made it obviously clear that Luz and Hunter are meant to parallel Belos and Caleb.
They LITERALLY showed Luz dressed as Belos. And the fans LOVE bringing up that parallel to villianize Luz or woobify Belos. But suddenly say she's actually Evelyn to ship her with Hunter?
Willow is obviously the Evelyn parallel. The WITCH girl he fell in love with that Belos wouldn't approve of. She LITERALLY dressed up as a evil version of a witch.

hihi! i was in a silly goofy mood and i thought of something, listen- golden guard! hunter x golden guard! reader (hcs!) where reader has a penstagram account where they post bullshit stuff like trends, funny shit, unhinged posts, sometimes Hunter appears in them (he did not approve 😔😔) ya know?
and how people would react to them- im thinking theyd make fanart, ship them, ask them stupid questions about the emperors coven (which they have to promote otherwise Belos will take away their penstagram privileges >:( ) and and if they write fanfictions reader would 100% read them and comment "good writing! kinda ooc!" and the writer would be like "what the what--"
please i need to see someones take on this 😭😭
(YES SILLINESS SHALL SPREAD-)
☁️Golden guard!Hunter x Golden guard!Reader☁️
Characters:
Hunter Noceda: He/Him (he didn't approve of showing up in your posts but oh Lord-)
Luz Noceda: She/Her (asks random questions about the emperor's coven-)
Amity Blight: She/Her (probably made fanart about you two-)
Willow Park: She/Her (live, laugh, love, willow- made a group chat with you and Hunter in it-)
Kamora Firethorn: He/Him (Made ship art of you two, also asks questions about things u can do with multi magic-)
Denndy Yumo: They/Them (wrote fanfiction, very good at writing, but doesn't know what ooc is-)
Reader/Y/N: any pronouns (This unhinged fuck-)
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Bruh I swear to GOD/TITIAN your the one that does those goofy trends and shit-
Hunter has to appear in them Because he appeared ONCE now EVERYONE wants to see more of him!
And since he showed up you had 5 people and a ton more asking more questions!
Like GoodwitchLuzura (Luz)!
Who always asks stupid questions about the emperor's coven- (SHE WANTS ANSWERS-)
But also she questions if you are in a relationship! You just reply the her comment with "PERHAPS-"
So more people started shipping u too, like wholesome ship art! (You murdered anyone who made weird art-)
But then theirs WITCHCHICK128 (Amity!)
She basically cyber bullies you and Hunter :(
But you just respond to all of it with
And I kid you not
"RATIO"
It's funny though lmao, just seeing in the community you an her arguing lol
And there's WillowTr33s! (Ofc Willow-)
She just likes to comment on your videos! No questions or anything! Just nice talk lol-
It's nice to have someone not cyberbulling you two and asking questions about the emperor's coven!
But that's all, aside from some othe,rs commenting and asking! (COUGH, COUGH, KAMORA & DENDDY- COUGH COUGH-)
But it's nice Belos got you penstagram! (He regrets it-)

So is the implication from that headcanon is that Belos sexually a*saulted Hunter? If yes, why did he do it? Is it like a chain of harm thing, like he himself was abused as a child, or was it just to be a prick?
The short answer would be yes, but the long version is a bit more complex than that.
Tumblr media
More in-depth, but possibly triggering answer, below the cut
Okay, so. I'll begin with a disclaimer again.
The Belos pictured above is not canon Belos, and never was supposed to be. He exists solely as a device to explore an alternative scenario that would not make sense for canon Belos, as well as the weight behind it.
The main difference between this Belos and the canon one, is that he does not perceive Hunter as his nephew - to him, he was simply the boy he made specifically for being available at the snap of a finger. The abuse depicted in canon was clearly based on familial bonds, so I wanted to stray from that.
Disclaimer over.
So. Let's begin with Hunter.
While he is certainly a victim, assault isn't exactly the word I'd use to describe the specific type of sexual abuse he had gone through. To me, assault always implied something sudden, violent and unwanted from the get go - you know it's wrong from the start.
And that's precisely the opposite of Hunter's situation as depicted in the fic.
He's what I like to call an Unsympathetic Victim - the kind that most people doubt when they describe their story, the kind that doesn't fit into the convenient, tasteful or sometimes fetishized box of what being a victim means. Sucks, but unfortunately, it still happens everywhere. Those people, though their experiences and feelings are viewed unsavory or even sometimes disgusting by society, are still just as valid as those approved by it. Trauma isn’t a fucking measuring contest, and that’s that.
As for what that exactly entails...
Hunter, due to being isolated from peers and other adults, ended up developing an unhealthy infatuation with Belos, which resulted both from him being the only "good" adult in his life, as well as intrusive thoughts based in his already existing trauma, on top of teenage hormonal changes. Of course, he had no idea that it was wrong. He had no reference points whatsoever on what was right and wrong.
At some point he had admitted to those feelings and normal for his age desires - which, unfortunately to him, Belos decided to entertain. I won't go too much into detail, but eventually, Belos and Hunter's already awful relationship ended up gaining a sexual layer to it.
Here is where the "unsympathetic" part starts :
Due to his lack of proper education and severe emotional manipulation from Belos, Hunter never considered himself a victim. Right up until he started watching that movie with Luz, he thought it was perfectly normal for a teenager and an adult to be in a sexual relationship. Of course, for him the adult in question turned out to be a genocidal maniac and narcissist, but he never hated those more intimate parts. If anything, he was always happy to participate as he did enjoy it, as ugly as it may sound.
Of course, his logic skips on the parts where Belos guilt-tripped consent out of him, or that he was afraid of the disappointment that would follow after openly saying no, which as we know resulted in physical abuse in canon. All he knew was that he trusted Belos and that the act itself was physically pleasurable for both of them, so it couldn't have actually been something wrong. That it couldn't have been abuse as well.
That is, again, right up until he was proven otherwise by Luz, to which he reacted with brief panic then shutting down. Not only was that last illusion of normalcy taken away from him, now he believes it was his fault for having those thoughts to begin with. If there was one thing Belos taught him well, it was the art of self-victim blaming.
But in shorter words...
No. Technically speaking Hunter was not assaulted - rather, he was groomed and coerced, and mayhaps gaslit. While those two situations are both sexual abuse, they are two different kinds of it and that kind of distinction is important.
Now, as for Belos...
I personally do not like writing him with a "chain of harm" trope, as likely as it might've been, because I feel like it defeats the point of him consciously making the decision to do the wrong thing for over 400 years.
However, reducing it to him just "being a prick" misses the point as well.
Canon Belos first and foremost, wanted to have complete and utter authority and control over Hunter, while also demanding devotion, adoration and loyalty from him - which applies to This version of Belos as well.
So, when Hunter ended up coming forward with his intrusive thoughts and desires, to Belos it was an opportunity for two things :
Truly becoming Hunter's number one everything - further preventing him from finding someone else to possibly prioritize over him, which is why in canon he detested the sight of Flapjack so much, on top of him being Caleb's/Evelyn's palisman. Anyone from the outside of his influence was a threat to his control over Hunter. So, with him being Hunter's God, mentor, caretaker, superior and then """lover""", he was This close to stopping the redemption arc from happening. Alas, Flapjack and Luz still came around.
Satisfying physical urges without having to look too far, and without the risk of landing with someone who could stab him in the back. Hunter just so happened to be the perfect fit : willing, obedient, not ugly and always available. Sometimes, that's all there is to it with abusers.
In shorter words, again :
It was more about asserting his control and blowing off steam while at it, not just being an asshole.
Again, I cannot stress enough that this headcanon/interpretation/whatever is NOT meant to be in any way titillating or romanticizing sexual abuse. It is, first and foremost, a character study that’s based and inspired both by personal experiences and observations of both fiction and real life - in hopes of partially bringing light to often overlooked or stigmatized effects and types of trauma. In case you were wondering, no I am still not a therapist or any other kind of licensed professional, so do Not take my word as 100% credible and without fault as I am only human. That will be all for now.

People who portray Belos as a one note evil asshole and don't give him anything other than the small bits we saw in canon are so boring. I love seeing works (art, fanfics, etc) where he's given an actual personality. Some people just don't know how to have fun with a villain and it shows.
I mean I'm inclined to agree, but I'm also not in the business of telling people how they should interact with characters in their fan fiction. Make him one-note, ignore his canon complexity, whatever. I just ignore work made by those who either eliminate his more nuanced character or dial his evil actions even further.
It's work made by fans, which means that they did it to make themselves happy or for cathartic release and I don't want to ruin that experience for someone.
Obviously, I adore fan works that explore Belos' character because fan fiction--at its heart--explores the areas that canon did not. And boy, did toh's canon leave a lot to be explored for our Evil Puritan!
What gets me is when people think they can shame others by how they create art.
We're all in a sandbox. Stick to your corner if the other kids on the opposite side are playing with the same dolls in a manner you don't approve of. Because if you tell me how I should play with my toys, I'm gonna kick sand in your face.

Image description: uncolored digital art of characters from The Owl House, all with devious expressions. They're crowded around a blender with slime in it, presumably what remains of Belos. Luz is plugging the blender in as Hunter holds the box, and Eda holds down the lid as Raine presses a button on the base.
In the background, Caleb appears with a dagger floating over his head, presumed to be a ghost, and he gives the crowd an approving thumbs up. The scene is captioned: "see you in hell you stupid goop." End description.

Never thought about it that deeply when looking at Hunter grom outfit art but that s so sweet and heartwarming<33
Boi rarely takes off the mask and when he does it s around ppl who at least to some degree dislike him (beside belos/raine/steve who i doubt compliment his looks) always tired and in armour.
Looks at himself in pretty clothes and oh! He s pretty handsome he concludes.
Once he joins Emerald trio/entrails he s positively confused by how everyone compliments each other efortlessly
In human realm they go out picking outfits and is flooded with "oh this colour suits you" "you look so good in this" etc he Doesn t rlly know how to respond but tries to compliment his friends back (althought very awkwardly)
It makes me insane to think about cuz its too cute!!!
I always imagined that Hunter never exactly saw himself as ugly per say, and was never reluctant to remove his mask if necessary, but his opinion towards his appearance hasnt been the best either. He's just been stuck with this face for his whole life that he can't even critically assess it. Who knows if he's ugly or not? Certainly not Hunter. He's been looking at this face for too long to properly tell. He's indifferent at best and sick of it at worst. His face is dull, boring, underwhelming. So the privilege of hiding it around people he doesn't know really boosts his confidence. When he's wearing a mask, he can be anyone he wants.
I know the grom art isn't canon but it's so sweet to think about him really seeing how nice he can look all dressed up and being blown away by the final result. Like hey?? Hey?? He's actually not bad looking. Which he feels a little hesitant to even think cuz its not something he's used to feeling. But...he's kinda handsome. Maybe? He's really not a great judge of what good looks even are but being in a nice suit (something he's never worn before.) really rearranges his perception of his appearance as a whole, as though he's looking at someone new. Has he always looked like this? Would it be immature to hope that he has?
Hunter assumed he never cared about his looks much. So why are his feelings about his own reflection so BIG all of a sudden? He just....isn't used to this. Its nice. Handsome. He might go as far to describe what he's looking at as handsome. The idea fills him with an unfamiliar kind of giddiness. Handsome.
Luz would come bursting in, all done up for grom to see the number King has done on Hunter. And as soon as she's in the door, Hunter struggles not to shrink in on himself. He feels weird all of a sudden. Put under a spotlight. Someone is looking at this strange new version of himself and he feels silly for thinking too highly of it. Maybe he is just seeing things and he's just a dull boy in a passable outfit. His gaze tears away from the mirror cuz it would be mortifying to be caught admiring himself.
King hadn't said much about Hunter's appearance. Just an approving thumbs up and a "better!" An improvement from his own attempts, sure, but Hunter is probably blowing this WAY out of proportion.
But then Luz gasps dramatically. "Look at you!!!" She fawns and Hunter is just about ready to throw himself out the window.
"Don't you dare laugh." He snaps, jabbing a warning finger in her direction. His ears are steadily heating. "Titan help me if you laugh it's over for you."
"Why would I laugh?" Luz asks, sweeping across the room to get a better look at him. "Why, I was gonna say you look positively ✨️Dashing✨️" She announces with a broad beam, bracingly tugging at the lapels of his blazer.
Dashing.
That was an adjective Hunter never would have thought up on his own...but now that it's out in the open...
"Oh." Hunter blurts dumbly. She wasn't mocking him. She was complimenting him. "Thanks."
Being complimented on your appearance is a very strange and surreal thing so his brain needs a moment to process it.
"I like your...." He begins awkwardly, skimming his eyes up and down Luz's outfit. "Tutu...?"
Always with the loud and bright attire. But with Luz being so very....Luz, she has a knack for making these looks work. It suits her.
"You look good." Hunter comments. "Ridiculous." He emphasizes, to which Luz grins in response. "But good."
She thanks him with a theatrical little bow. "High praise coming from such a spiffy looking fellow."
Hunter snorts. "Shut up."
"I'm serious," Before he knows what's happening, Luz has swung an arm around Hunter's shoulder, reeling him in close. Her cheek smushes against his.
"And...from one Prince Charming to another..." Her teasing voice drops to a low murmur. "I think the girls are gonna love us."
Luz laughs at the embarrassed squeak that Hunter makes, turning to leave the room as he shoves her off him.
She calls out for him to follow her. They're gonna be leaving any minute now. Hunter nods and obediently troops after her.
At the last second, he pauses and takes one last look in the mirror.
Handsome.
Dashing.
It's so dumb but he watches himself smile stupidly as he makes one last adjustment to his collar. He's standing to his full height now, and as he leaves the house for the evening, he can be heard whistling, glowing with a new strange kind of pride that he's never experienced before.
I could absolutely see Viney and Skara jokingly calling Hunter "Hot Stuff" or something equally ridiculous. (They have similar nicknames for each other and Willow.) Especially after he scores them points during derby practise and they're gassing him up.
At first Hunter is a little confused. ("It's moderately cloudy?") There are definitely a few slang words that haven't yet reached his vocabulary, so this particular sentiment has to be explained to him.
Oh. Hot. Hot as in attractive. Okay. He gets it now. Interesting use of the word.
The explanation Viney and Skara gave him was so in-depth that he knows he's not going to be comfortable using that adjective in regards to anybody any time soon. Or well. He won't be saying it out loud at least.
Hot Stuff definitely sticks as Viney and Skara's default nickname for Hunter. He usually just scoffs and rolls his eyes in response to it. But Willow never fails to catch him look away and bite down a smile. She always teases him a little over it.
"You love being called that, I know you do~" She grins as Hunter blushes furiously.
Would be so cute if Gus and Hunter did most of their clothes shopping together while in the Human Realm and after they get home, Camila gets all the witch kids to show off their new outfits and parade around in the living room for her. Of course she goes "Ooooh don't you look cute?" At all of them. Which would make every single one of them blush. Camila would dote on the kids in their new clothes, I know this for certain.
Anyway Gus and Hunter helped each other pick out their respective clothes, which results in Gus NOT getting the shorts with the star shaped sequins ("It's October." Hunter insists. "You'll freeze.") And Hunter getting talked into the occasional loud and flashy garment cuz Gus told him that this one was his colour and THIS one would look so good on him and THIS ONE
Basically what I'm saying is Hunter being complimented on his appearance becomes a sure fire way to convince him to do anything.
Obviously when they do their little living room fashion show, Gus waits in the hallway with Hunter before they step in and prefaces it by announcing "Are y'all ready to see the best looking boys in Gravesfield??" Which is met with cheers and applause.
Gus takes to calling himself and Hunter "Best Looking Boys in Gravesfield" very often. Hunter still hasn't gotten used to it.
And ohhhhhh hubtlow...h tunltow....hfunmtlow....the brainworms this ask gave me because I started thinking about hutntntntlow....
I don't know if they're dating yet at this point. It's possible they're taking things slow. Maybe they both understand that the feeling is mutual but they're uncertain on what to do next.
But on one occasion, the atmosphere is just intimate enough that Willow is brave enough to reach out and touch Hunter's face.
She runs her fingertips across the cut of his jaw, a ticklish sensation that makes his breath hitch. Both hands cup his cheekbones, thumbs gliding just beneath his eye-bags.
The warmth of Willow's smile nearly knocks him unconsicous. "I like your face." She whispers, like she's sharing a secret. "It's pretty."
Pretty.
Hunter struggles not to melt into goo right then and there.
Pretty.
His face is pretty.
"You're smiling~" She singsongs, and Hunter knows she's correct, as he can feel the corners of his lips straining to reach his ears. He has to look away from her, because this is embarrassing. In a good way. Which is weird. Until he met Willow, he would never be able to fathom feeling embarrassed in a good way.
He has to pin his gaze at his criss-crossed legs for a moment, his hands squeezing his calves and he can feel it still. The big dumb elastic grin that is impossible to wipe away.
Willow proceeds to completely and utterly obliterate him by pressing the pad of her finger to the bridge of his nose and gently stroking down the hooked slope.
"I always thought your nose was very regal looking." Her lovely voice fills his ears.
She likes his nose.
He's helpless to the little squeak that escapes him.
Her knuckle have found the crook of his chin, which she uses to tip up his face a little.
His gaze meets hers and just like always, there's that electric jolt down his spine that she tends to give him.
It's only now that he realizes that she's blushing too. And he's not surprised. How in Titan's name could she say things like this without blushing?
If Hunter even tried anything like this on her, he'd go completely mute in his efforts to spit the words out.
"And you've got the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen in my life." Says Willow, like she has no intention of letting his heart catch a break.
Beautiful.
The neurons in Hunter's brain have devolved into fireworks.
Beautiful.
Okay. Okay. Fine. FINE. He is unable to take this anymore.
Hunter asks Willow to have mercy on him in the only way he can, in his flushed, speechless state. He tips forward and buries his face in her shoulder.
He hears her giggles, picking up the slight breathlessness.
"Okay, pretty boy~" She teases, her fingers taking to carding through his hair, which is not merciful in the slightest.
Pretty boy.
Pretty boy.
Pretty boy.
Hunter is going to explode.

A lot of people have already talked about how Hunter's abuse & toxic relationships (from Belos, the Emperor's Coven & those who live in the castle) are going to negatively affect how he thinks other people will treat him. Like assuming quick movements or surprises are attacks. Or assuming people will not like or want him if he isn't "useful".
But nobody's seems to be talking about the other side of that coin & I think that's an equally important discussion.
About how all that abuse is going to negatively affect how he treats other people. Because you can't have one without the other. Especially since every single relationship in his life thus far has had varying levels of toxicity. Especially because he has no other point of reference to be aware that how the people in his life treat one another is extremely unhealthy.
Its going to be a very lengthy process for him to learn what healthy relationships look like & deprograming those toxic behaviors of how you should/shouldn't treat others. Just like Lilith will have to do with her god complex with King & approval complex with authority figures. During that time, there's going to be a lot of moments where-
he thinks he's a superior & demands respect & blind obedience from people. Where he'll get angry or upset when people don't comply to his authority.
he thinks he knows better & goes behind people's back to "help them" even though they didn't ask him to or they explicitly told him they didn't want that. Taking away their choice/autonomy.
he gets upset at someone telling him what to do or what not to do.
he lashes out about being left out of important conversations or being told to sit certain situations out. Because, just like Luz did in "O Titan Where Art Thou", he thinks adults protecting him from situations that no kid should have have to deal with means they think he's weak & not good enough.
he will sabotage his friends & siblings to get ahead, look better or superior, or make others look bad in comparison.
he'll steal opportunities from others for those same reasons ⤴️
he hurts someone's feelings & upon confrontation of that he flies into a panic, lashes out, & tries to defend his actions. Wherehe puts the blame on their reaction & not his action.
someone tells him did something wrong & he goes straight to fight or flight & does more harm because he fears punishment & rejection.
he'll get angry, jealous, &/or hurt when someone gets more attention or praise than he did & he proceeds to try & sabotage the that person or ⤵️
he does dangerous things to earn favor or forgiveness with a complete disregard his own safety.
he expects other people to do ⤴️- & going to other great lengths prove their worth, whether its to him or other authority figures.
He will be arrogant & paranoid-
He will be cruel & hurtful-
He will be rash & inconsiderate-
He will be a big frustration & a lot of work for the people in his life-
& eventually he himself will need to do a lot of work as he tries to do better & be kinder at all of these things. I say eventually because there's way too much to address all at once & a lot of thing he won't be ready to address for a very long time.
But despite the massive amount of growth he needs- despite all the hurt & stress he'll likely cause- Hunter is not "bad person". He is an abused child- with a lot of baggage- & a lot to learn.
ignore me projecting my thoughts through over analyzing cartoon characters

saw some art of hunter making a grimwalker of belos to cope and man am i glad the owl crew made belos into a writhing pile of goo so he doesn’t have any more bones to make grimwalkers with. like i can imagine hunter’s mental state getting bad enough somehow that he’d think to do something like that, to raise belos so he’d turn out good. and that’s the same pitfall phillip fell into when creating grimwalkers of caleb.
and damn what a cruel thing to do to a kid. to the grimwalker, hunter-his creator and probably father figure-would have created him to prove a point to himself. that someone evil in his past could have grown up to be good. that hunter could shape the grimwalker into what hunter wanted him to be. and everything the grimwalker does, he would have to wonder if phillip did the same in life, and if hunter would approve.
its the exact kind of existential crisis hunter is having in the show from being the clone of caleb. except the theoretical belos grimwalker would have to live with the fact that his ortet almost committed genocide on his entire civilization. im sure hunter would avoid being an abusive parent the way belos was. he might even be a good dad. but the act of making the grimwalker means hunter is giving the kid the same kind of trauma he struggled through. belos couldn’t accept that caleb left him, so he tried to reshape innocent kids into filling that void. if hunter creates a grimwalker, he would be doing the same with belos. he would have turned into his uncle, which to me is a very depressing way to end his story arc.

The Golden Guard: Eda’s Dark Parallel?
Does anyone else think that the Golden Guard actually reminds Lilith a LOT of Eda, specifically Eda as a kid, during the good old days before she got cursed?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Think about it… They’re both sassy, hot-headed teen prodigies with an owl motif and yellow attire. And the way Lilith angrily talks about the Golden Guard, it seems her feelings of resentment mirror how she felt towards Eda back when they were kids? Lilith, who was by-the-book and traditional, worked so hard… And then there’s this younger person with an Owl motif who just swoops in out of nowhere and through talent, completely outclasses her!
If you go with the idea that Lilith wanted Gwendolyn’s approval and had to compete with Eda over that… Then for all we know, maybe Lilith lowkey wanted Belos’ approval as well, but felt like she was being cheated out of that with the Golden Guard, who kept stealing the spotlight from her!
Like she was afraid he’d take her spot as head of the Emperor’s Coven, the way Lilith feared that Eda would win the initiation duel back when they were kids… And lo and behold, the Golden Guard DID take that! Granted Lilith left an obvious vacancy from her own betrayal of Belos so of course he took that spot, but still; It’s quite a sore spot.
In some ways, perhaps Lilith is aware of this, deep-down or not; She might see the Golden Guard as just Young Eda, but without any of the emotional connection, nor any redeeming qualities; If he does have them, again, it’s not like Lilith knows the Golden Guard well enough to know these traits, much less take them into account.
LOTS of text and speculation and analyses below!!!
The Golden Guard is even sixteen years old… Which, is very likely EDA’s age, back when her and Lilith competed for the Emperor’s Coven! That can take on a whole new, dark meaning for her…
Perhaps Lilith is low-key disturbed by the Golden Guard’s existence, because he reminds her too much of Young Eda? Eda, before she was cursed- So it’s like the memory of her is coming back to haunt Lilith, in the form of someone who has no concern for Lilith whatsoever to hold him back, unlike the actual Eda.
And in a way, it’s a horrible reminder that some things never change, that some things stay the same and Lilith can’t get past them, she can’t outgrow it like she thought she did; Because even now, even as head of the Emperor’s Coven, there’s still a 16-year-old prodigy with an owl motif and yellow attire, who is sassy and playful and mischievous, who threatens to upstage Lilith’s self-esteem and sense of power. Somebody Lilith is afraid of; Thirty years later, and she STILL has to deal with this kind of person in her life, but it’s worse because she’s actually older and should be better, yet somehow isn’t…
Who knows? Maybe Lilith even recognized the similarities to Eda, enough to actually be sympathetic to the Golden Guard at first? Perhaps she, on some level, saw the Golden Guard as a way to vicariously redo her past with Eda, but without the mistakes… Maybe she tried to be nice to the Golden Guard, but then he quickly turned out to be a snob, he’s not REALLY Eda; So Lilith settled on never cursing him like she did Eda, but then otherwise decided that she didn’t owe him any love and could just quietly loathe his guts.
Lilith failed Eda in part because she was an older sister who abandoned her in a time of need, but there’s not really that expectation with the Golden Guard, so why bother? She’s got enough on her plate as is, and an ACTUAL Eda to worry about, to look after, to be concerned for and patch things up with.
I’ve even seen people make the very good point that in a lot of ways… The Golden Guard is like a Dark Eda? In the sense that, he’s Eda, had she joined the Emperor’s Coven as a kid. He’s a look at Young Eda, if she didn’t reject the Coven System, and joined Belos- Reveling in her own talent and power as granting her ‘special treatment’ over the rest, so any downsides to the coven system weren’t HER problem anyway!
Again, this adds another layer to the Golden Guard being very reminiscent of Young Eda, and even current Eda as well… Except, he never lost his magic and was never cursed. Maybe that’s another thing he unknowingly haunts Lilith over; He’s lowkey a reminder of what Eda could’ve been, had Lilith not been selfish and a coward, or had she communicated better. Yet at the same time, he’s frustrating- Because the Golden Guard is like the worst parts of Eda, the parts that Lilith hated and made her resentful…
And this constant reminder of the past, of her own issues with Eda back then that culminated in the curse- It could’ve made it a LOT harder for Lilith to really resolve things with Eda, because this kid keeps reminding her why she was so angry, and it’s impossible for her to move on because the Golden Guard isn’t some distant memory, but an actual person who continues to threaten her, the way Eda had…
And of course, the Golden Guard reminds Lilith of the Eda she lost; The happy, carefree Eda who wasn’t cursed, the Eda she could’ve had in a sense. The Eda that Lilith in some ways wanted, yet is forced to confront and acknowledge is a very obnoxious and terrible person that makes her unhappy…
And this kind of rude reminder that the Eda that Lilith wanted would’ve continued to make her miserable, if not moreso, is not something she appreciates shattering her dreams and low-key denial, of a world where things had just been a little different.
The person you’re trying to get, maybe get BACK, wasn’t so great after all- So you just have to move on, and be glad for the Eda who IS happier with her life and more mature, despite being older and more cursed. You gotta move past your guilt Lilith, and realize that Eda is in a better place- Not that she ever needed the curse, but she doesn’t quite need saving from the parts of her life she actually chose for herself, in part to be kind to Lilith no less! Because I bet Lilith believes that deep down, she didn’t deserve Eda’s kindness, so she wishes to reverse that compassionate decision of Eda’s that only resulted in Eda suffering because of how terrible Lily secretly is.
But, back to the subject; There’s more similarities to Eda and the Golden Guard, especially at the end of Separate Tides; How he makes an ominous warning before casually, happily yelling “BYYEEEE!!!”, just like Eda when she warns Luz about trying to have a Moonlight Conjuring in Hooty’s Moving Hassle, before heading off to the Night Market. His widow’s peak even bears a decent resemblance to Eda’s, doesn’t it? Which…
Combined with all of the talk about bird motifs being a Clawthorne thing, it DOES raise many questions about the Golden Guard’s potential connection to Eda. Is he some long-lost son? A third child that Gwendolyn had later in life, because witch biology might allow them to do that? Some homunculus, crafted from bits of DNA from Eda, and maybe even Belos? Belos does seem weirdly fond and trusting of him, the two are placed together in the Season 2 outro when nobody else, not even Kikimora, is there; And of course, the Golden Guard wields a staff, red magic, and fleshy creations, VERY similar to Belos…
I can’t say for sure- But the idea of the Golden Guard as an alternate Eda is fascinating. An Eda who became completely arrogant, and didn’t stop to care about others; Her cockiness and mischief becoming cruel and obnoxious, essentially the worst parts of Eda, down the path she’d always dreaded. A look into another life, a different choice in such a pivotal part of her past… Personally, I LOVE this kind of dark parallel of a character, so I’m hoping these similarities are commented upon in-universe, assuming they’re not outright literal!
           In a way, the Golden Guard could haunt Eda, because he reminds her of herself… Of her carefree youth, but what she could’ve had… But also, the terrible things she’d done. And obviously Eda despises the coven system too much to really change her mind, and it’s safe to say that the Golden Guard is not at all what she wanted to ever become… But still, it’s a neat bit of character writing and parallelism. If Belos is like a Dark Luz, what Luz could’ve been had she not grown… And the same could apply between King and Kikimora;
           Then who knows? The Golden Guard could be a Dark Eda, who got by talent and continued to take things for granted. An Eda who swore loyalty to Belos and was embraced by the emperor for her skill and ability. Jovial and cheery, but without any of the actual compassion that makes this genuine with Eda. An immature brat who never grew up (granted he’s only sixteen and hasn’t gotten the chance), unlike Eda. And if the Golden Guard is an alternate Eda;
It’s fascinating how his roles are reversed with his alternate Luz… The Eda parallel is younger than the Luz parallel, learning from them, and taking after their motifs as well! But I guess it’s not all too surprising, with how Eda and Luz both learn from one another, though I suspect Belos and the Golden Guard aren’t as mutual, but who knows?
It does make you wonder about Kikimora and King as potential mediators between these duos, whose placement remains consistent… How does Kikimora, the King parallel, interact with her Luz and Eda? Did she become close friends with HER Luz, while, as Dana’s art suggests, she seems somewhat irritated by and resentful of her own Eda? So it’s like Eda and King never grew to be friends and conquer differences… As well as if King never grew to respect Luz and saw her as just a “f*cking nerd”?
With how Luz is taking after Eda, and possibly getting a Cardinal palisman to complete the Clawthorne motif as a new member of the family… Who knows? The Golden Guard could be an intriguing character for her to bounce off of narratively, maybe as someone Luz might have, in another universe, learned to look up to and admire? How well Luz’s relationship be with the Golden Guard, if they are a Dark Eda? And how can this indirectly show us about how Luz and Young Eda would’ve interacted, what Young Eda was like, what Lilith went through as a kid…
And, for all we know- The Golden Guard’s owl motif doesn’t hint at a pre-existing connection to the Clawthornes, but rather a future one… Maybe he’ll end up being adopted by Eda, the way Luz was? I’d love to see the Golden Guard become an evil older sibling who’s protective of Luz…
I ADORE that trope to death; Evil older brother with bright, younger sister, whom he cares about, and the sister cares for him too, even if it’s complicated because the sister believes in the brother to be better, while the brother doesn’t want to be better, or is at least reluctant about having to change…
I’d love to see another Hugo and Kipo dynamic, and actually… If the Golden Guard parallels Eda, then who’s his Lilith? Could it be Luz herself? I’ve talked before the similarities between Luz and Lilith, as kids who were bullied and struggled with a lack of talent, but made up for it with hard work and ingenuity; They’ll give you a lot of trouble for doing the right thing, but then happily leap at the opportunity if they think someone is improving.
And, as Separate Tides has also shown us; They both grapple with guilt over making Eda suffer, unintentionally to varying degrees. Luz and Lilith both learn that they’re not a burden and that it’s okay to ask for help, and come to terms with their guilt with Eda… If Belos and the Golden Guard are Luz and Eda reversed, then could Luz and the Golden Guard also be Lilith and Luz, reversed?
With the Eda parallel being the older sibling in this scenario… An alternate timeline where Eda and Lilith were the same people, but switched places in birth, and it was EDA who ended up being the cruel and toxic sibling who left the younger feeling demeaned and worthless. I imagine if that were the case, the Golden Guard’s toxicity would occur largely in the beginning, as he acts adversarial to Luz and mocks her, taunts her over Eda’s loss of magic, and her own glyphs no doubt; The Golden Guard doesn’t seem to acknowledge glyphs as a valid form of magic himself.
But then, if he were to get a redemption, the Golden Guard’s tune might change as he matures and learns to treat Luz more kindly… In a way mimicking how Eda really grew to care for Luz, but also the way Eda has begun to reconnect with Lilith, except with the Golden Guard as the one with the baggage and guilt.
And, a redemption might not be too implausible, because… He is literally only sixteen, the same age as Emira and Edric, and likely the same age as Eda when SHE was cursed. Younger than Lilith, when she made the worst mistake of her life, because she didn’t understand the coven system for what it truly was –and who could blame her?- and was grappling with a likely terrible mother in Gwendolyn… The Golden Guard is literally a minor, and possibly an overworked teen prodigy.
After all, the first glimpse of his personality Dana gave us, way back in 2020, was of the Golden Guard admitting that he was tired; And despite his usually cheery personality, all of our glimpses at his face behind the mask (symbolism!) have had him look likely serious and glum… But then again, we don’t see the lower half of his face, so who knows?
Perhaps the Golden Guard is abused and overworked by Belos, kind of like Amity with her parents… The Golden Guard is a child dealing with a very toxic influence, and a huge burden of responsibility no less. And with all the potential connections to Belos as maybe even a literal father, or at least a parental figure, it’s not hard to see why the Golden Guard would turn out so messed up. And the Golden Guard being ‘tired’ could be a connection to how Eda is left exhausted from her curse, too.
So, who knows? Because of his age, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect, or at least hope, for a redemption for this kiddo. But a recent sister show to The Owl House has taught me anything, kids aren’t free from death, and Infinity Train made it clear that you can humanize and sympathize and mourn someone who deserved better, yet ultimately dug their grave and was condemned to a sudden death because of that; All because they didn’t know any better, and really couldn’t have.
And on another note- Maybe the Golden Guard has owl motifs like Eda… Because in a lot of ways, he actually admires her? He admires the Owl Lady, or at least the certain ‘past’ version that others such as Lilith may have brought up… Maybe the Golden Guard seeks to supplant Eda the Owl Lady as The Most Powerful Witch in the Boiling Isles. Maybe he sees himself as Eda, but better, and this rebellious, hot-headed kid feels the need to prove himself by defeating someone he sees himself in.
Maybe the Golden Guard is like Lilith, as someone who wishes Eda could’ve joined the coven system, and he’s disappointed in how all her talent was ‘wasted’ on other things. Maybe the Golden Guard was disappointed in Eda losing her magic, losing further respect for his ‘problematic idol’, and/or he felt some validation and vindication in being a successor to Eda.
Does he hold some grudge? Did the Owl Lady’s power excite him, give the Golden Guard a goal to recklessly challenge and defeat, so he can experience the thrill of victory and add to this feeling of invincibility that teenagers, especially the talented ones, have?
           Eda as a kid, and even now, has always been fond of spiting what others say she can’t do, or setting new precedents and accomplishments to prove herself. Maybe the Golden Guard is like that, and hopes to take on the onus of outdoing the Owl Lady; Perhaps he admires Eda, and wishes she could’ve joined a coven like him. As an outside admirer, he mourns Eda’s ‘potential’ in a way similar to Lilith, but different; Because he’s a kid who looks up to her, and not an older sibling that has an actual childhood with Eda. If so, then that’s another dark parallel to Luz;
After all, Luz got frustrated by Eda in Adventures in the Elements. So maybe the Golden Guard is someone who grew resentful of Eda for not living up to the legend he hoped, the image he wanted, sort of like Lilith! I’ll go out on a limb and even suggest him as a past apprentice, who unlike Luz, never learned to be patient and appreciate Eda’s teachings, so he turned to the coven system and Belos for easy gratification. He didn’t want to be challenged… And in that way, the Golden Guard could parallel my speculation on Belos, as also a Dark Luz.
So of course, it makes sense that Belos would recognize this same dilemma in the Golden Guard, and perhaps be sympathetic and take him under his wing for it. Eda might not recognize the Golden Guard because he’s changed a bit himself, is hiding his own identity –Lilith doesn’t seem to know much about the witch beneath the mask either, just the public image and façade- and Eda’s been having memory issues. Maybe this will add to the Golden Guard’s resentment, who knows? He really might just be a rebellious teen who Eda failed, unlike with Luz… And that could add to more envy, perhaps.
At the very least; Dana’s fondness for the Golden Guard takes on a whole new meaning… What with how Eda is pretty much one of, if not THE most favorite character of hers, the one who really jumpstarted this entire show and world to begin with… Having this other character she likes essentially be a canon AU version of that beloved creation, would certainly make a lot of sense! Dana likes Eda, she likes to show us about Young Eda; So a character who IS Young Eda, just on a different path, would likely appeal to her. We’ll see…
I think it’s worth noting that in her art of the Golden Guard, it depicts him as essentially a normal, lazy teenager who’s asking someone else to do his chore for him, while he lounges around to do something else. I could see a young Eda as occasionally fulfilling that role and asking her older sister Lily for a favor- And maybe this could allude to the Golden Guard being frequently exhausted from being overworked himself, hence “I’m tired” and wanting to extend his breaks as much as possible. We’ll just have to wait and see…

For the au does hunter have night terrors? does he ever almost get found by scouts i fear belos will send kikimora or eber to track him down once he’s needed
I really wanted to answer your first question with a comic/art but I'm probably gonna be hella busy this weekend and I really just wanna answer this so:
1. Yes he does have night terrors as well as vivid nightmares, and he's grateful every time that he wakes up that Rascal is there. Tbh the nightmares comic I made a while ago kind of applies to terrors as well. It wasn't made for Home Hunter AU but it's basically what I imagine happening. Though I bet there are times when Rascal can't do much to help Hunter except stay by his side. Sometimes things are too rough to just cuddle better.
2. I've kind of answered this before but never super explicitly so I'll just say it here since I won't get around to the comic for a while. Sooo yeahhhhh Belos is looking for him. Sort of. It's complicated. Part of Belos' strategy here is to basically freeze Hunter out emotionally and make any chance of returning, when presented, seem like a wonderful kindness :D while also destabilizing any feelings of safety, independence, and privacy that Hunter feels he might have. I have bad things planned for this >:))) Hunter will suffer.
Hunter has depended on Belos for approval for so long that it will take a lot to kick that desire. It's ingrained in him. Hell, it's basically one of his main character traits that he's loyal to/wants to please Belos. And Belos knows this, so he isn't worried about Hunter becoming independent enough that he no longer craves that approval. I think Belos is pissed but ultimately just wants to get things under control and "back to normal" and he's willing to play the long game if that means he ends up with more control over Hunter than he started with. Belos never intends to just let Hunter go. Even if he stops being useful, Hunter is the only family he has left after all :)

You guys thought Belos used to be a good person? I always headcanoned him to always have been kinda twisted but being just good enough of an actor for people to dismiss the signs. Mind you, I do think he got worse over time but more in the sense that he started trying things and get away with them and then his mind would wander. Like going from "I want to cut open a body but God would not approve." to "But those aren't humans (and brother isn't looking) so..." to "Why WAIT for their death?"
There are a lot of "Phillip was just this funky little cinnamon roll at first" headcanons/art out there. They're really cute and would definitely make for more of an emotional impact if he used to be a good guy but was slowly twisted, for Luz parallel reasons. I just think it would be funny if he was always a Little Bit Messed Up.
Phillip just deciding to act on all of his intrusive thoughts is funny, though, one day his brain was just like "kill your brother" and he went off.

Okay but think about how releaved Camila must truly be on some level that Luz found the demon realm. Now that she’s gotten more stories and gotten to meet Luzs friends and girlfriends. And it looks less scary to her after getting to know Vee and the Hexsquad.
All Camila wanted was for Luz to not go through the same pain she did. And the camp was an attempt at that if misguided.

My thoughts on Edge of the World because oh gods on Olympus that episode was just… speechless.
Obligatory spoiler warning
Also swearing warning
- Whaaaaat is happening.
- Oh it’s a dream.
- Hooty does not have a digestive system. He consumes things for fun and is essentially a living storage container.
- King found the letter. King found the letter.
- Eda needs therapy. She used Lilith as a shoulder to cry on, but now I want to know how many times she hasn’t had that support when she felt bad about something.
- Lilith going into must-comfort-younger-sibling mode. I’m not a big Lilith fan but it’s so wholesome.
- Okay, cool, guess we’re abandoning the sisters for the rest of the episode.
- Yay more sailor Luz!
- It is creepy and sketchy as hell that you need an ancient tooth to teleport to this place.
- That was a super quick switch from “I’ll kill you” to “Oh yes obviously you were expected” and I don’t trust it.
- If all of King’s kind is here and the messenger was only traveling to deliver the letter, why the hell is King’s dad gone? Where did he have to go that he couldn’t wait for King to come before taking off?
- Please do not give the eight year old heavy weapons. A dagger will do just fine.
- Creepy old jerk.
- Something is super off here. How was King lost? Why wasn’t he under heavier guard if he’s so important? How do you lose an egg the size of a large soccer ball?
- *intensely stares at wall poster about King, trying to figure out why seeing it instantly triggered my “get the fuck out of there” instinct*
- Creepy old jerk.
- Everything about this messenger guy feels so off holy shit.
- Aww King wants to play catch so bad.
- WHAT THE FUCK DO NOT MURDER THE CHILD HE’S EIGHT-
- *trying not to cry at King still insisting on playing catch*
- WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE’S A TITAN??? AND YOU’RE JUST GONNA LEAVE?!
- OH SO YOU JUST DROP THAT MASSIVE PIECE OF INFO ON HIM AND GO MAKE PANCAKES OKAY BECAUSE WE TOTALLY DIDN’T JUST GET A HUGE BIG OF LORE WHAT THE FU-
- WHAT KIND OF ENDING IS THAT??? WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO TO EDA??? …oh, and Lilith. WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO TO EDA AND LILITH???
Bonus round! Three A.M. thoughts afterward.
- Please someone just give this poor kid his game of catch.
- So titans really are a doomed approves, huh? Poor King the only living member of his kind.
- Are the bones that make up King’s island the remains of King’s father?
- How long was King in his egg for before he hatched?
- Do titans have two forms— one gigantic and one small? Or will King just outgrow being able to live on the Boiling Isles?
- Belos probably sent the guards to get Luz because she threatened to spill his secret about the Day of Unity. What if he captures Eda and Lilith to use as leverage against Luz?
- Nah, Eda won’t get caught. She’s one heck of a fighter.
- But if Eda does get caught, Raine is gonna be pissed.
- Now the synopsis for O’ Titan, Where Art Thou makes a lot more sense.
- But at the same time, what the fuck is that supposed to mean?!
Thank you for listening.
