Amazon is Set to Expand the Tomb Raider Franchise on Streaming and Film
It has been announced that Crystal Dynamics formed a new partnership with Amazon MGM Studios to help expand the franchise's universe with "additional stories" for streaming and film.
As a result of this exciting team-up, Prime Video revealed on its presentation today that it has ordered a live-action Tomb Raider series helmed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) as writer and executive producer.
Tumblr media
Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
"If I could tell my teenage self this was happening, I think she'd explode. Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life, and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can't wait to go on this adventure. Bats 'n all," said Phoebe Waller-Bridge. "I'm so happy to announce that we have ordered the epic, globetrotting series Tomb Raider from the incredibly gifted Emmy-award winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge and the team at Crystal Dynamics," said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM Studios. "Fans and newcomers can look forward to exhilarating adventures that honour the legacy of this iconic character."
This partnership comes as no surprise since Crystal Dynamics struck a deal with Amazon Games in late 2022 to publish the next Tomb Raider game (TR12), currently being developed in Unreal Engine 5.
"Amazon MGM Studios and Amazon Games are incredible collaborators with a massive reach across the globe, enabling us to expand our Tomb Raider franchise with multiple new adventures and a shared passion for creating impactful, entertaining, emotional experiences for players and viewers throughout every facet of this universe," said Scot Amos, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics. "These timeless stories span all media platforms to meet audiences where they want to engage with Tomb Raider. It's a critical step towards our future with fans everywhere."
The show will follow the adventures of our beloved heroine and is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video. Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios are co-producing the series alongside dj2 Entertainment and Legendary Television—who are already working closely with the game developer on Netflix's awaited animated series.

TombRaider.com Has Been Redesigned
The official Tomb Raider website just got a brand-new look!
Crystal Dynamics has soft-launched what will be the ultimate hub for everything related to the franchise. The portal features a landing page with the main headlines and a fun little puzzle to be solved along with news and product releases sections, a shop, and a members-only area with exclusive rewards to be earned.
In addition to the latest news, the community team is set to pen regular content about many aspects of the saga, with original articles ranging from developer blogs and peeks behind the scenes to deep dives into the lore, throwbacks, and community spotlights, including fan guest blogs—be sure to shoot an e-mail to [email protected] if you're interested in writing a piece.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As mentioned previously, the website has a product section with every mainline title and spin-off currently available on digital storefronts with detailed information, screenshots and links to each platform, from the original Tomb Raider (1996) to the upcoming release, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered.
But there's more to this franchise than its games. On the Tomb Raider Gear Store, you'll find a dedicated shop featuring Tomb Raider-branded apparel and accessories as well as merchandise and memorabilia from all eras of the saga. Unfortunately, the store will not be live during soft-launch but you can subscribe to its mailing list and earn a special discount voucher for your first purchase.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And lastly, the club every Tomb Raider fan will want to a part of!
Aptly named "Society of Raiders", this new membership program will regularly challenge its members with puzzles and tasks that, when completed, will unlock exclusive digital rewards in their member account such as avatars and wallpapers, among others.
There is also a newsletter available to everyone who subscribes where they'll receive monthly or even weekly recaps with the latest news, merchandise, offers, and more.
The website is currently in soft launch and will be fully operational on February 14th but you can already explore it, create an account, and complete the first challenge of the club. Happy raiding!

Original Lara Croft Gets a TUBBZ Duckie
On the occasion of the series' 27th anniversary, Crystal Dynamics and Numskull Designs have announced the first-ever Tomb Raider TUBBZ Cosplaying Duck based on Lara's polygonal model of the classic 1996 game.
This officially licensed figure is now part of Numskulls' popular cross-brand range, a unique, highly collectible series of gaming, film, TV show, and pop culture characters stylized in rubber duck form. Featuring cute, recognisable designs, these figurines showcase individual poses to suit their characters, and each comes packaged in a stackable box with a unique bathtub-shaped display stand!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Can you believe it’s been 27 years since Tomb Raider launched into the gaming world and we first met protagonist Lara Croft? Today, the iconic gaming character is a total legend and Numskull is celebrating her staying power and taking her pop culture status to new heights with this new Classic Lara Croft TUBBZ collectible. There’s no mistaking her even as a cosplaying duck, her hair and facial features are captured with retro perfection. She is, of course, wearing her signature tank top, shorts and combat boots and has her dual-wielded pistols to hand so she's set for duck pond action."
Standing approximately 9 cm (3.54") tall, this tremendously detailed 'First Edition' TUBBZ is made from high-quality PVC and comes in a collector's bathtub featuring the Tomb Raider logo, with a 'First Edition' seal printed on the base of the duck and a holographic sticker on the packaging.
